Welcome to Banished Quest!
You take the role of a young mage labeled a criminal by his people and cast out into the wider world. In the last thread you doled out parental life lessons, laid down plans, and assassinated the Shah.

You feel as though you're falling forward, the vortex of color and sound forcefully pulling it further within its depths. It feels as though hands grip and tear at your very being, stripping you of flesh until naught but your very soul remains. Desperately, you try to turn back and crawl your way out. Back to the Shah's room and the reality you're familiar with. As you turn to face the way you came you're met with nothing but more of the same. The portal you stumbled into has closed. You're, for all intents and purposes, trapped here.

For how long that remains the case you're uncertain. The grasping claws which tore at your flesh moments ago now seem to push and pull and toss you about. You quickly lose track of which way is up, amidst the weightlessness of this realm you find yourself sensorily overwhelmed. Your very perception of the self seems to be breaking down as you're finally vomited out of the tunnel, and you believe it was indeed a tunnel, into the familiar, comforting blackness of the void. You attempt to hold your breath, but find it unnecessary. You can neither inhale nor exhale, nor do you feel the need to.

Curious, you glance down at yourself. You appear for all intents and purposes as a smear of formless shadow against the backdrop of the void, but pulling aside your cloak you find that your Master's robes hang loosely off of a skeletal frame, the variety of squishy bits you'd grown so attached to conspicuously absent. Your hands appear as desiccated things, flesh skin clinging to the bone desperately, reminiscent of a dried corpse one might find lost among the desert sands. Reaching up to run your fingers through your hair, you find only the smooth texture of your skull, interspersed with jagged seams.

You are a skeleton.
(1/2)
>>
Perhaps it is merely due to your notable lack of sanity that this doesn't panic you as it likely would most. Rather, you're more curious as to how your cloak functions within the void itself, taking into consideration after all that it is a portal to the void. Frankly, you're surprised it hasn't torn a hole in reality and unleashed a thousand years of doom and torment. Curious, you attempt to stick a hand into the garment only to find yourself disappointed. Your cloak does not appear to function within the void itself, presumably to avoid violating some law of reality or another. Upon determining this, you instead turn your focus to just how it is you retain tactile feedback, sight, hearing, and movement when you lack skin, ears, eyes, or muscle.

A siren's call distracts you from your contemplation, drawing your attention to a rend in the endless black of the void. A valley which seems to cut its way through nothing, far below you. You can distantly see the gleam of a light, within the valley. The call urges you forward, into the strange rend in the void, towards the light, but you hesitate. This seems, in a word, sketchy.

A variety of things, my friend. A variety of things. Most damning in my mind is the response rate of the study.

To expound a bit, the study where the '1-in-4' statistic originated took a random sample of students from two college, both male and female, and sent them three emails informing them about and urging them to take the study. They offered a giftcard as a reward. Now, while the random sample was taken was indeed large enough to be representative of the student body, the response rate for the study was something like 50%, I don't remember exactly. Regardless, it's important to note that a response rate that low could indicate a heavy skew towards one result or another. This alone is enough to throw out the results of the study as inconclusive or not statistically significant.

In addition to this the questions asked were overly broad. Things like "Have you ever had sex while drunk and regretted it?". This, while perhaps some would argue constitutes rape, does not in the legal sense constitute rape. In addition, only something like a fourth of the women identified as rape victims self identified as rape victims and something like half the identified rape victims went on to later have sex with their attackers.

Finally, the sample size taken (that is to say, two universities) was too small to claim representation for the whole of US Academia. As most probably know, the statistic is usually presented unqualified. 1 in 4 women WILL BE raped in college. Not 1 in 4 women at these selected universities, and not 1 in 4 women MAY BE raped in college. But WILL BE. The language is what I really take issue with. It's just patently false.

You begin to drift towards the distant mote of light, curious as to what it might represent. On the way you absentmindedly begin to hum an old tune you recall from the Mirta Divasa. Your peoples celebration of those spirits passed on to the next life or not yet passed into Pani's loving embrace. With a shock you realize that tomorrow, or perhaps even today, is Mirta Divasa. The streets will be draped with all manner of decoration and men and women will fill the streets to participate in public ceremony before retreating to their homes for quiet, family celebration. Tomorrow ought to be the annual commitment of the dead to Pani, asking her to guide wandering souls back into the fold of life. The third day would will be a time for the heads of households to retreat to the family tomb and attempt to contact any wayward ancestors, it will be their responsibility to settle the dead's affairs should any have yet to move on.

You find it curious that you can still hum despite lacking lungs, or any sort of organs. Although you suppose you haven't really checked. Curious, you pull up your robes as you drift through the empty void and shove your desiccated hand inside your chest cavity. As you expected, it's devoid of any sort of flesh or blood. Simply bone. It's somewhat unsettling being able to grap your own spinal column and twist it around. Vaguely uncomfortable as well. As if the tendons and cartilage aren't really meant to move in the ways you're making them.

To pass the time, you attempt to discern your own vys. You can't really close your eyes, but as you will it to be so your vision fades out, and you slip easily into a trance. Oddly enough it's incredibly easy to remain focused on your trance while at the same time moving and performing other task. You can simply stop sensing the world around you seemingly at will, and you do so to afford yourself an easier task. Your vys reserves, you note, seem to have concentrated along your spine and at your joints. You'd presume that they're enabling you to move and act as you please.

As you approach the valley you begin to note just how... fleshy it appears to be. You can see vague entities perched amidst the various bridges which seem to have naturally grown across its breadth. The valley itself seems to stretch on for an eternity in either direction, and has no discernible bottom. You stop just above the valley, the endless, black plane of the void stretching out in either direction. You swing yourself to one side of the valley and peer down, only to see that the valley seems to be a one dimensional window into whatever lies beyond. There is not continuation of the valley below the apparent entrance.

Hesitantly, you slide through this window. You're a little wary of portals due to the various bad experiences you've had with them in the past, but unlike recent examples this one does not shut itself behind you as soon as you enter. However, you do feel yourself compelled to proceed yet further towards the light, a gentle, easily resistible urge. It strikes you at once that your presence is being requested by whatever entity it is ushering the siren's call.

>>
>>35883602

No, because we would lose those cases and we do very careful screening to see which cases are viable and which cases aren't.

The legal standards for discrimination/civil right/gender pay cases get higher and higher every year. It's not like wage and hours cases where things are fairly straight forward.

So many cases get thrown out even before we get to the discovery stage that it's strictly unprofitable to pursue cases that don't have merit from the get-go.

Here's how the law works:

The employee has the initial burden of proof of showing that she was paid less than similarly situated male employees. The court scrutinizes the definition of "similarly situated" closely and often require identical supervisors, identical duties, and identical or superior work performance.

If they can't prove this in the complaint, the initial court filing, the case is dismissed and the employee is on the hook for the other side's attorney's fees, which can be several hundred dollars per hour.

If court says, "Yeah, looks like it could be legit", then the burden shifts to employer to show that either (1) she was paid equally or (2) she was a lazy, incompetent employee. Which is why companies document all the workplace reviews. If they can show some shitty workplace reviews and great reviews for the male employee, they basically win.

The employee's only chance is to show that this was pretext, i.e. made-up bullshit, but this very rarely works.

So the test itself makes it almost impossible to win frivolous lawsuits and actually penalizes them because the court's primary driving force is "judicial efficiency". The law, in practice, is more complex than political catchprases from either side of the aisle.

You drift towards the light listlessly, giving into the temptation of the call. As you get closer, it seems to become louder. It fills your thoughts, driving out consideration of any task save reaching that distant point. The entrance to the rift quickly fades above you until it's naught but a narrow crack in the sky above, the canyon seeming to widen the deeper your go until the walls are shrouded in thick mist and shadows.

Eventually your destination becomes distinguishable embedded as it is within the canyon wall. It's a large, stone doorway framed by stone statues to either side, each one solemnly looking down on the platform stretching only a short distance beyond the doorway's stone steps. Candles illuminate the area, making it appear blindingly bright in comparison to the absolute darkness surrounding it.

As you get closer still you're able to pick out the symbols carved onto the surface. The door itself is a large, round thing surrounded by two concentric circles of runes. The symbol at its center, intended to represent an eye formed from the crook of a staff, is an old religious figure you recall vaguely from a few old tomes within your master's library. If you recall correctly, it was used extensively by a sect of spirit worshipers who attempted to unify the various cults into one unified religion with a structured hierarchy of priest. Unfortunately, it was lost to history.

As your skeletal feet touch down on the platform you feel gravity assert itself. You very nearly collapse, but manage to avoid such a fate. The call cuts out, leaving you to wonder what it is you're supposed to do. Peering up towards the hairline crack representing the canyon's entrance far above, you're disinclined towards attempting to scale the canyon wall.

You approach the doorway, leaning in closely to inspect the runes. You spot the “Contain” rune almost immediately, and reach forward to trace the familiar shape with your finger. As the desiccated skin hanging off of your skeletal hand meets the stone of the doorway, the runes light begin to glow with some strange internal light. You back away as the glow spreads, and soon it's consumed the entire doorway save for the symbol at the center.

In a flash, the symbol illuminates. Unlike the rather inconspicuous blue glow of the runes, the symbol is a dark, somber red. The symbol itself begins to sink into the stone, eventually vanishing within. You hear something roll back, something heavy, and soon the doorway slides up, into the walls of the canyon. Revealed beyond is a vast hallway, at the end of which rest a vaulted passage which seems to lead to some sort of lit room, though the passage turns sharply and thus only affords you a view of the glow from within. You're left guessing as to what might be contained within.

You step forward hesitantly, peering into the deep gloom that fills the rest of the hall. Save for a narrow pathway between two rows of pillars the hall seems to be occupied by a darkness so thick it seems to have an almost physical presence. A solid barrier between you and the rest of the building. You make your way slowly inside, the echoes of your booted feet falling against the stone floor seem to echo unnaturally, filling the cavern as you wander almost unconsciously towards the light.

You pause at the vaulted passageway, hearing a deep rumbling from somewhere behind you. You spare a glance backwards to see a large stone cover sliding into place over the doorway, a large red stone in the shape of that symbol which sat at the center of the sealed doorway protruding from its back. As it settles in place, the stone thrust forward. You're left staring at a flat surface, the only indication of the door's presence the red symbol staring back at you.

Left with little recourse save to continue forward, you make your way through the passage. It doesn't take long to make your way to the end of the hall. As you turn the corner, you find yourself staring into the milky white eyes of a large, three headed skeletal figure. Its arms are spread wide in welcome, hands facing the heavens. Smoke swirls from its three mouths, if you can really call them that. Each one is missing its lower jaw, and seems to vanish into the blackness of its robes, which strike you as vaguely religious.

Blood, or a substance very much like it, spills from the mouths of two ghoulish statues arranged to either side of the figure. It steams in the presumably frigid air of the chamber, as if still fresh. Water swirls up from two pools of deep red paste beneath the statue's mouths and the figure's hands. The figure seems to be using the water to wash its hands of blood, and once finished reduces it to vapor. For all intents and purposes, it seems to be reducing the blood into some sort of extract, for what purpose you can't quite be certain.

The figure seems to notice your hesitation at the sight of it, and a voice filters into your mind. It's utterly calm, and vaguely amused. {Fear not. Come forward, Servant, and receive my blessing.}

You step forward, though in a manner more akin to a man walking to his death than a faithful servant about to receive a blessing from their object of devotion. As you stride forward, you feel resistance. It's hard to explain, but it's like you've encountered a thin wall separating you from the spirit. You manage to tear through after a moment, and as you do so for a brief moment you feel a surge of panic. You feel as if you're drowning; your consciousness being overwhelmed by the presence of the spirit before you.

Fortunately, the spirit seems to recognize your discomfort and in a moment its presence dims, its form somehow reduced. You can't put your finger on what exactly it now lacks. As you step forward it reaches into the two pits of red paste, sifting through the gelatinous material for quite some time before withdrawing two separate items. In one hand, it clasp a circular disk of bronze embossed with the image of a face wrought in a knotwork style. In the other, it clasp a spear with a simple wooden haft and a blade made of some strange, bluish metal. You recognize them immediately as belonging to the Varistha, the tools with which he intended to banish the creatures of the void to whatever afterlife they're relegated to.

You attempt to clear your throat, but find yourself incapable of such a task. Instead, you open your mouth to speak. As you will the words from your mouth, you instead find yourself transmitting the thoughts to the creature looming before you. {Pardon my asking-} Crap, what do you call this thing? {-O great Collector.} That'll have to do. It seems nonplussed at your attempts at flattery. {Might I receive another boon instead? Said great warrior intended to sacrifice himself to correct a mistake I made. Might I ask another boon instead?}

The figure rights itself, clenching its fist around the two artifacts. You hear the wooden haft of the spear snap loudly and the metal of the shield complain as it warps. It once more spreads its arms wide, and when it opens its clenched fist naught but dust falls into the pools of red paste. The blatant, senseless waste of such powerful and assuredly rare artifacts physically pains you. If you were still in possession of your lungs, you would almost assuredly be shocked breathless.

{Very well, though I warn you. I am limited in my methods of payment by powers greater than I. Should you wish, I may drag back the soul of a loved one from the realm beyond. However, I warn you they may not be as you remember them. Life after this one leaves a being markedly changed. I may also weave for you an enchantment into an item of your choosing, though the knowledge of an art so powerful is forbidden to mortals.} It pauses, and you shift uncomfortably where you stand. After what seems like an age the spirit continues. {Finally, I may reveal to you one secret, of your choosing, within limits.}

You're really forced to wonder what creature is more powerful than this one. When you stepped into the room you thought, for a brief moment, you were in the presence of a god. It puts every entity you've stood before so far to shame.

A.) Makes one more resistant to sanity loss

B.) Removes sanity slowly, over time

Sanity > any weapon.
at the end of the day. varvar would have killed us for an artifact like the one we will be getting.
and likely every one else at the temple.
if it meant he could wear something to regain his sanity, and no give up more memories from his life.

And I mean come on. As a water Grand master. On top of being a samjan. He could cut off limbs, and make brand new limbs, with x2 more muscle if he studied anatomy any time in his 1000 years...
>>
>>35887359
With a mess like that I just can't parse what you're trying to convey.
I agree with your second line very much though. Unless there's weapons which restore sanity by tearing out your own nightmares and infusing them into the souls of those you strike, of course.
>>
>>35887302
Nah mate, we can do shit like that ourselves. We could possibly even learn the remove insanity rune from this. It's not worth itnto be an assassin for such "utility" items. The Varistha's stuff was reasonably powerful and thematicallx appropriate, I really like what Soma did, but what you're saying just seems cheap.
>>
>>35887392

>>

We totally did, but I feel the shield itself wouldn't have merged wll with our style anyway, from what I've seen in Varvar's fight, most we could get is the rune from it and use it as his gravestone or something.
>>35887423
I didn't mean cheap in the jew sense, I meant in the plot/story/mechanic sense.
>>
>>35887444

Guys we should really get down and git gud.
Start reading all of his books. and tomes and shit.
I am fine with doing a time skip on just reading everything for about a week with our pause.
him pissing eating and shitting a few times in the same room.
small time skip. Get most of our reading done.
Empty out all of our shit. ans have fulvia go through everything catalog it. And add it to our personal collection. while we need would be nice.
Having our party members read/ meditate 1-2 a week between reading would be a decent time skip. even if they all roll shit and only get one insight each..

You open your mouth to speak, but snap it shut a moment later. Instead, you merely focus on the words and they're transmitted mentally to the spirit before you. {I would like an object of mine enchanted to restore my sanity.}

The spirit shakes its head, slowly. With a wave of its hand, the Hiacian signet ring you retrieved from the Fortress of Eshnuk at the entrance to the pass through the mountains slides out of your cloak. You're surprised nothing catastrophic happened, but you suppose it's a sign of the spirit's control over its domain. On the other hand, could you have passed out of the void when you entered this canyon?

You're distracted from your contemplation by the spirit's voice thundering through your skull. {I will not restore you in your entirety, to do so is beyond my power. However, I may create an item which slowly mends your fragmented mind. In fact, to do so is a simple task.}

There is a brief flash of light, and then the ring is gone. You feel, for lack of a better word, refreshed. You're able to focus with surprising mental alacrity on thoughts which previously seemed to slip through your mental grasp. Thoughts such as the fact that you're a gods forsaken skeleton. You really hope this isn't permanent, because you were rather attached to your flesh. As interesting as this existence might theoretically be you'd rather have your face back.

As you open your mouth to speak, you instead find yourself standing within your chambers in the temple. Your dragon has leaped to its feet and hisses at you, apparently either surprised or confused. Your first thought is to reach up to your chest and assure yourself that you're once more in the flesh. Fortunately, everything seems to be right where it ought to be.
(1/2)
>>
Having reassured yourself of your mortal status, you spare a glance down to the ring on your finger. The symbol at its center, that of a Palaka worm eating itself, has changed. In the center of the circle created by the worm rest a small, barely perceptible series of concentric circles, the rune at the center far too small for you to decipher. You'll need to figure out some way of magnifying an image to discern just what it might be.

Your dragon steps warily off of its nest, approaching you cautiously. It sniffs at your leg before apparently deciding that you are, in fact, you. At that point it leans into your leg, and you ignore the burn for just lung enough to reach down and pat it on the side. You hear a faint {Papa.} drift through your thoughts as it leaves you, returning to curl up on its nest. You're relieved to see nothing has burned down in your absence, nor does your pile of gold seem significantly smaller than it was when you deposited it on the floor.

I think we should talk to the old water spirit about what we saw. See if it can help us/ see if we can deal for VYS or at least more knowledge in enchanting to give us the passive bonus for all of it. >>
You reach out towards Fulvia via the connections afforded to you by the brooches. As much as you'd like to take a moment and rest, there are pressing matters to attend to. You've got the ruler of a polity to save and {The Shah is dead and I've safely returned to my room. Are you ready for your part in this plan of mine?}

Her response is prompt, as always. {Of course I am. Was there any doubt? I have spent the time since you first contacted me collecting and preparing vys to cast the necessary spell. I will meet you outside of your door in a moment.}

With Fulvia's role assured, you snatch up your Nature staff and stuff the vial of incorporeality potion into a drawer on your desk. You wouldn't want that being discovered in your room after all. May get you into some sort of trouble, though that may simply be a healthy sense of paranoia. Then again you suppose the fact you have a dragon sitting in the corner of your room happily napping will probably attract more immediate attention than the comparatively inconspicuous vial.

You stride out of your room, shutting the door firmly behind you. Fulvia is, as promised, waiting for you with her hands folded neatly behind her back. She bows to you courteously and then the two of you begin to make your way quickly through the halls of the temple. The urgency of the situation prompts you to break into a run, and Fulvia obediently mimics your pace. It means you're forced to dodge past monks and initiates on a handful of occasions and attract a fair bit of attention, but so long as you can reach the Shah in time for Fulvia to revive his corpse the mission will have been a success.

(1/2)
>>
>>35888109
Let's have kadir ban all black cloaks. He will owe us
>>
You reach the doors to the monks' wing of the temple in record time and barge through, nearly bowling over a woman carrying a tray of food. The two men standing guard spot you almost immediately and draw weapons, one of them wields a long saber with a strange gem in the hilt that glows with inner light. The other holds a pair of punch daggers, which strikes you as odd for an Immortal, that is to say a Royal Guard. The elite of the elite. One of them goes so far as to erect a stone barricade between them and you, an Earth vatis apparently, while the other shouts out “Should you wish to live you shall halt your mad dash this instant!”

Fulvia destroys the barricade with a thought, her vys pool far and away higher than any mortals ought to be. However, you wave your arms swiftly to get their attention and cry out. “Wait wait wait! We mean no harm, quite the opposite in fact! The Shah, his life has already ended. It winked out only moments ago. My companion, she understands a technique which will allow us to revive him but only if we act quickly! Please, you must let us in!”

They seem unconvinced, and time is of the essence...

>Bowl them over with a tidal wave of water, then freeze them in place. Ought to give you enough time to save the Shah.
>Subdue them with Earth magic, with Fulvia's help. The power of both of you combined ought to suffice.
>What's this nonsense about attacking them? Just show them he's dead using the staff.
>Write-in
>>
>>35888109

What I fear is that enchanters are taken careof more sriously then just payed hits. I expect Surya himself smightingnus, to be honest.
And to think, if only there was no enchanting, we could live for thousands of years.
We have to take a photo on the ring before we revive the Shah though.

Under the focus of the staff you're highlighted in a noticably lighter shade of green than the rest of the surroundings, and it even illuminates the figures of those behind you in the distance, not directly touched by the light.

You're careful to avoid pointing it towards Fulvia, as you turn it towards the two guards themselves. You're almost certain she wouldn't glow under the light of the staff and thus arouse suspicion. However, the two guards light up like the red light district after lessons have concluded for Vatis apprentices. They share a glance, seemingly convinced of the life-affirming qualities of your staff. Convincing them of the Shah's death is as simply as turning it towards his room to reveal a space devoid of life.

One of the guards spins around almost immediately and barges through the Shah's door, shouting something indistinguishable. It was the one with the saber, the one who'd shouted at you earlier. The other Immortal trails behind his companion, with Fulvia and yourself bringing up the rear. As you enter the room, you see the Shah sprawled out on the ground. He's been flipped over onto his back by the first guard who barged into the room, who's since torn off a gauntlet and is holding two fingers to the Shah's neck in order to determine the man's pulse.

You crouch down next to the Shah, and Fulvia assumes a position next to you. She calmly reaches down and tears apart the Shah's expensive, jewel encrusted, ornately decorated, silken robes. She then rips away the cotton underrobe he wore beneath to reveal his bare chest. The Shah is a slight man of seemingly frail figure, only slightly shorter than yourself but much skinnier.

(1/2)
>>
Fulvia places her hands against his chest and there's a blinding flash of light as she discharges her vys in one massive burst. You hear a desperate, horrified scream rend the air as the Shah is once more thrust into the land of the living. You feel something hit your cheek, you think it was an elbow, and one of his Royal Guards gets a boot in the knee as the Shah desperately attempts to scramble away, his chest severely but seemingly unharmed otherwise.

It's at that moment, as your vision slowly clears to reveal the form of the Shah staring in wide eyed terror at Fulvia and yourself, that you recall a few minor details. First, you remember that Fulvia is forced to drop her projection after casting a spell of this magnitude, and that she currently appears as a faceless, alien horror constructed of corded muscle and draped in a white, armor plated robe.

Second, you're not wearing a mask and the Shah is perhaps one of the few people outside of the Vatis community familiar enough to recognize you as an Aghtaki without the brand on your cheek.

Probably not, the consequence for a Aghtaki being caught in the Shahdom is death.

Senpai or sempai?

Next thread Monday.

Both are correct, it's spelled Senpai but pronounced Sempai by them fancy Japs with their fuckin' moonrunes.

God damn it Soma, I knew you'd fuck usnover with the "I'll just say you got dressed butnforgotnto mention it" thing, I'd think it obvious that we'd vote to put the armor on.
I like you, you cheeky cunt.

It's fucking senpai, for the same reason you don't spell choir as quire. It happens that the n sounds like an m in certain instances in sveral languages, but it's still spelled as an n

How long have you been planning this outcome and using the image for the Collector?
>>
>>35888810
The Collector image I actually found only recently, though I've had the general idea for the character in mind for quite some time.

This particular outcome I've had planned for about two weeks now.
>>
>>35888846
dragon knight armor with artificial wings:
Cool, or cool as fuck?
>>
>>35888873

>>
>>35888846
Did the collector actually destroy the artifacts? That'd be kind of sad, since they didn't even get destroyed in battle.
>>
>>35888846
How easy is would it be to make magnification and invisibility, now that we're a Master?
>>
>>35888879
He was probably gonna destroy the one we didn't pick anyways. Considering he's the janitor of the void.
>>
>>35888902
Yeah, but at least one of them would have been passed on to his "student" that he left his other shit to. I'm kind of sad that we didn't choose one of them, even if this ring was a smart choice.
>>
>>35888879
He did indeed destroy the artifacts. They're gone for good.

>>35888894
P ez, dawg.
>>
>>35888953
>They're gone for good.
Just like my smile.
>>
>>35888953
Show awesome would he olde Google map have been? Could we have zoomed? Would it have done interiors?underground? Could we look at our own ass by mooning the sky?
>>
>>35888953
>They're gone for good.
Ahhh, now I feel like we disrespected Varvar's memory. Maybe this is better for warriors though, we just don't know. Better than falling in the hands of bandits, at least.
So, would sound magic be possible, and would Mik have enough reasons to try it? Does Mik relize that SK is pretty smart about lots of things, even physical phenomenon? Has SK been conducting experiments to check if things work the same way here as in his old place? I've been thinking about which would be better, for SK to actually explain the underlying principles and theory of stuff, or just make us do certain things(experiments) and for us to see the consequences, and work from that based on our own understanding and magical instinct or whatever.
We need to do some new shit in Fire to keep impressing our baby though. Nothing too powerful so we can keep him under control, just fun new shit.
>>
>>35888953
I know this would be telling, but how pissed is the spirit at us for rezing kadir?
>>
>>35889006
It would've been handy, but I really wasn't looking forward to revealing the entire world map. There's a whole continent out there y'all don't know about. A few, in fact. It would've zoomed and you could've looked at your own ass by mooning the sky.

>>35889036
You're right, that would be telling.

>>35889022
Sound magic is a thing. I won't reveal what type of thing it is. It's much like Illusion magic in that only those knowledgeable within a certain field know of its existence. SK might be a good place to start, and Mik does know that he's a clever dude who knows a lot about stuff.
>>
>>35889057
That's why you phewed
DAMN IT
>>
>>35889057
Would imbuing some of our blood with vys and sensing it as it flows in our bloodstream and the way it disperses count as an experiment? Is it possible to achieve SOMETHING with this, or would we need to inspect all of our blood at once? Can just scratching a rune on an enchantment render it invalid?
>>
>>35889057
Will we be getting more jobs?
Will we get the ability to ask for the same stuff upon completion?
Did mik enjoy being a spooky skeleton?
>>
>>35889095
To clarify
>the experiment is for something healing and anatomy related
>by scratch I mean like severing a line on a rune written with paint
And to add on: How good is meditation for remembering stuff? Able to recall the scene to the finest detail we've seen?
>>
>>35889096
He definitely enjoyed it until he became boring sane Mik.
What self-respecting psycho wouldn't enjoy being a spoopy skeletor, honestly? Didn't have to breathe, talk, etc.
I wonder if we could've healed ourselves with water magic though.
>>
>>35889057
If we enchanted something with contain, and pumped it full of vys on par with varvar's whole reserve during finalization, would it do anything or would it still require a coupled rune?
>>
>>35889057
>>What is your most treasured possession?
>I'm almost done, Anon. Working on the last paragraph of the opening post.
Were you half-asleep at the time of writing this, or is this actually what you intended to answer?
>>
>>35889144
Holy fuck I didn't even realize. Yes, I was half asleep.

>>35889132
Still needs to be coupled with something. The rules of enchantment are pretty rigid.

>>35889095
I'd say studying the way blood flows through the body would qualify as just that, anatomy study. Not really an experiment. An anatomy experiment would be like... "Can I fuse the head of a dog onto the body of an ape and get a functional creature?"
>>
>>35889234
Can we control blood with Metal+Water?
>>
>>35889234
how much does a dog and an ape run a guy?
>>
>>35889244
You can sorta do it with water alone, but metal+water would probably alone you better control.

>>35889251
Well, a dog you can pretty much pick up off the street, unless you want one of those fancy Rhynian war dogs recovered from a few facilities ages ago and since bred extensively. Those can get pretty expensive, what with the acidic saliva and the extensive training required to keep them from mauling everything in sight.

An ape would probably be pretty expensive in that it would need to be an imported animal from somewhere else.
>>
>>35889251
We should start small. Try connecting an extra two heads to a dog, maybe.
>>
>>35889251
>implying we won't have plenty of exotic animals available to us in both the spooky jungle and the Deep Desert
>>
>>35889285
This'd totally net us better shit, right Soma? Beside learning about their bodies and different ways that biological shit forms, like in what way gills and horns and shit work and stuff.
>>
>>35889265
How much does a cat cost?
Talkin parrots?
Ferrets?
Hamsters?
Guineapigs?
Other pets we can carry around with us or place on our shoulder?
>>
>>35889265
>just snatching up dogs to cut off their heads
We are like that one guy, Edison? Was he the one who payed kids for dogs so he could fry them?
>>
>>35889326
You think our baby would allow them to live when they'e stealing his time to spend with us and be affectionate?
>>
>>35889326
We should buy all those and then kill them then use animate on their corpses.
>>
>>35889265
Enchanting is using runes to guide you in the rewriting of the universe right? Has anyone ever heard of runeless enchanting? Could we use enchanting to write and rewrite genetic code? Any known mundane means of rewriting genetic code? I mean the rhyians made the war dogs, but that just might be spirit binding dickery
>>
>>35889375
We could just do that on a rat or something, so if it results in an abominaton it's easier to contain.
Animate probably also involves splintering our soul into stuff, I think.
>>
>>35889353
It'll be fine, they can play together, just hope we don't have to teach it too many times that just because it's an animal, doesn't mean you HAVE to eat it, and in most cases you shouldn't eat it
>>
>>35889265
Did Fulvia actually change her own programming and assign us as her superior? I doubt Rhynian ules would allow a Samja to be a commanding officer, so I find it strange that she managed to recognize us as one.
You said she's static unlike the core we sacrificed to 'atma, bu this suggests that she isn't entirely static to me.
Maybe it's because her inner holoface is locked away that she appears static, now that I think about it.
>>
Soma is kill
A shame, I wanted to talk about his scifi psychics with him.
>>
>>35889725
Just send him asks
>>
>>35889922
Heh, who do you think was the one to ask the previous questions about the topic? I was just hoping I could do a faster paced convo without the 300 character limit.
But yeah, I'll go write up dozen or so asks or something.
>>
>>35889936
So, first thing we do is create Magnification and memorize the runes on our ring.
After that's taken care of, we can start with finishing the effect books we started and learning the shit in them, then work on water techniques, work on nature/metal, read all our books and shit, and learn more metas/effects.
We should meditate on and experiment with our enchanted shit, as well as learning the runes on them on down-times, when we're low on vys, for instance.
I think this schedule doesn't have any incredibly stupid things in it.
First we need to get out of the present situation.
Can we maybe knock out Kadir with waer magic and say that's what happens when Fulvia revives someone? I don't think he's in the state of mind to be rational right now.
>>
>>35890845
Didn't mean to quote there, sorry.
>>
>>35890845
I don't think we could get away with that with the guards there. They seem pretty skilled.

But we should probably look through the vars books and papers first. Would probably give us a way to do some of this stuff easier and quicker. And find more better stuff for us to do.

And now that we have the ring we can go fuck off to some cave for a while and git gud.
>>
>>35890922
Ugh, yeah, hoping he'll pass out or something, but we might have to magic up some shit while the guards are distracted and pop a blood vessel in his brain or something.
Honestly, I doubt the guards would turn on us immediately even if he wants to get us arrested, we DID save the Shah's life after all. Maybe they'll let us get away or something, which would be really cool, especially if we could visit Ghada and the battlemed sister before leaving, or like, setting up a meeting point with her(sister). I want to learn battle meditation damn it.
>>
>>35890975
change that to
>Expert Metal
or maybe Master
>>
>>35890976
Against my better judgment i say we try to reason with Kadir first and only attempt to run if he is seriously set on killing us.

Especially if we have the guards vouch for us on us having just saved our life.
>>
>>35890985
I'd say keep it to Expert, let's not bite off more than we can chew.
I'm personally also afraid of pursuing Earth while having the Entity in us.
>>35890975
Add sound magic and scratch Master Fire.
Some anatomy studies and magic experiments in general. Soma has said experimenting with vys itself could give us a hint to rediscovering VYS. I have a hunch that messing around with our pure vys effects/metas like manipulate could help with making Sound by creating vibrating membranes in thin air or something. I don't know, would be fun to do trial-and-error though.
>>35891000
I guess that's fine, I'm happy we stuffed our shit in the cart though, since Soma made us forget to put on the armor.
>>
>>35891033
That's why we do it after metal and only to Vatis level.
>>
>>35891033
General things that we really have no idea how to do other than just "meditate on it" should probably wait till the end after we get the set things that we know pretty much how to do.

We should really get an object enchanted with fire resistance or something like that so we can interact with our dragon easier. Plus it would come in handy if we ever fight fire vatis.
>>
>>35891104
would be heat resistance.

And didn't Soma say way back in the beginning that The higher rank in Fire we get the more that flames wouldn't hurt/burn us?
>>
>>35891104
I think getting semi-GM in Fire(actual Fire stuff, not like what we did with water) would make us pretty much immune to most fire though. We could just snuff out the heat on the parts where it touches us maybe? We can already make non-hot fire and heat without fire.
>>
>>35891129
Yeah, we already surround our hand with flames when petting our baby.
>>
>>35891132
If we wanna do that we'd have to do Fire/Flame manipulation meditations only and lay off on the illusion stuff for a while.
>>
>>35891139
Then jesus how hot is our babys' skin that only a GM can safely touch it?

I wanna hug it
>>
>>35891143
Hmm, we'll see, might be able to just make a technique that handles that.
I wonder if we can meditate to make technique and make it not count towards our insights. It might happen anyway that we don't get the insight but make the technique, but I'd like to not chance it.
Soma will need to confirm this.
>>
Oh fuck me.
I just realized Ricky playing cards with the skeletons was the prelude to tonight's skeletor adventure.
>>35891099
I think we both forgot these
>Magnetism
>Vys blades/weapons
>>
>>35891099
I recall Soma saying blowtorches were GM-level fire stuff, but a jetcutter technique might be possible without getting to GM in water if we get better with vys shit and metas/effects.
>>
>>35891337
Magnetism is good and we have a way to study it.

But Vys blades is just a concept and we don't have the slightest idea how to go about that. Not to mention we'd almost assuredly need the Vys Meta to do it. So let's just leave that one alone until we/if we figure out the Vys Meta.

>>35891377
not sure what the difference is but concept is there. I'll add it as Fire Cutting.
