About four years ago, my mother's car got attacked by some kind of superpowered freak. It put my mother in a coma for a good while, and she's been hospitalized ever since.

Now you'd THINK that the cops would be interested in pursuing someone who would and CAN punch cars into oblivion, but pretty everyone I told about what happened laughed in my face.

The only person who actually DID believe me is a girl I met in the park the night after the accident... and thanks to her, now I have my own powers.

After going through the trouble of risking my life to save Irene, a member of that evil organization, I ended up getting waylaid by her partner, an asshole by the name of Lloyd. When I came to, I found myself in a secluded room strapped to a chair.

After Lloyd decided that it would be a fun idea to actually attack me while I was tied up, I gave up on plating nice and broke free of the ropes and told him off.

It looks like Irene's trying to settle down this situation as best she can, but I dunno if that's going to be enough...

>"Joshua, thank you for coming to the rescue back there," Irene says with a warm smile. "And that was you who was talking to us back at that wrecked building, right?"

"Yeah, it was," I reply as I get a good look at my surroundings. I see stained-glass windows kind of high up... too high for me to jump through, though. Behind Irene and Lloyd is one door, and off to the side I think there's a doorframe that's blocked off by a bunch of boxes.

not like you can't just break through the walls if you need to

Yeah, but I'd rather not end up accidentally killing whoever else might be in the building by collapsing it on them.

"Ha, I knew it!" Lloyd says, pointing at me. "He's some kind of... he's probably with Gauthier or something and is trying to get the book that's in this city before we can!"
"Quit jumping to conclusions," Irene sighs and then turns to me. "I know we've um... gotten off to a bad start, but would you mind perhaps cooperating with us?"

"I have enough sense to know that that would be asking too much of you," Irene replies, "so all I'm requesting for now is that you give us a call if you spot anything out of the ordinary. IF you do, we'll show up and try our best to handle it without involving you if that's what you want."

"Between -what-?" Irene asks, her voice going cold.

From his heartbeat, I can tell that Lloyd is scared stupid.

"N- never mind that," Lloyd mumbles, "but still, you should think before pouring on the charm like that! What if he turns out to be some kind of psychotic stalker!?"
"As if I'd be worried about that," Irene scoffs. "And it's sounding like you're jealous..."
"Yeah right, I'm not desperate enough to fall for a confirmed lesbian."

that's a damned shame

Make your mind up, man! Do you want to bang her or get away from her?
>>
>>35807926
That or these interludes aren't taking place concurrently with the main quest. I wonder if we can Bad End MGS3 style by creating a time paradox?
>>
>>35807926
Or she's just lying and not giving him anymore information than she needs to.
>>
>>35807960
>I think SoU either takes place before FDQ or in a different city.
Wasn't Lloyd Archibold's replacement after he got his arm burnt by CC?
Or maybe I'm just projecting chatter from the thread into the actual content.
>>
>>35807963
>shout back, "You know I can hear you BOTH, right?"
>>
>>35807963

Whoa, I'm starting to feel like I really shouldn't be listening to this stuff. It's not like I'm going to stop eavesdropping, but I do feel the guilt.

i don't

"...what?" Irene growls.
"A few months ago?" Lloyd says. "When that one trainee girl joined up? I saw how the two of you were carrying on when you didn't think that anyone was paying attention..."
"Yyyyou know," her voice starts to waver while her heartrate increases, "you shouldn't be gossiping in the house of the Lord, and-"
"It's not gossip if I'm talking TO the person I'm talking ABOUT," he replies. "And the only reason I brought it up in the first place was to let you know that I know all about your interests."

Whoops, it sounds like Irene's stomping away...

"Not all of them, thank God. "I don't think I could take getting hit on by you..." she mutters under her breath.

ohhhh nice

Cut it out, stupid.

Nah man, with superpowers like this one of the single biggest factors in a fight is information.

Always try to keep people in the dark as to the limits of any sensory capabilities you have, this goes for Josh and CC.

Having gotten more than my fill of eavesdropping in for one day, I continue down the street. Thankfully, the church that I was carried off to is only a few blocks away from where I fought that rock kid... and even more thankfully, the food that I bought is still in its hiding place.

The street itself is pretty much destroyed, though. I'm surprised that nobody's called 911 about it, but it's not like I'm about to do so myself and end up getting grilled for answers twice in a single day.

And so, I head straight home and crash on my bed. It's been a really long day and I'm completely beat.

Yeah, it's true that at least Mina, Charlotte and Theresa don't have to deal with moronic friends who keep getting into fights.
>>
Eh... this is a decent point to end the thread on so I think I will.

I liked getting back to Joshua's stuff, even though it was only for a short while this time. I'll be doing one more of these interludes before starting False Dendrite's main quest back up, though.

Thanks for everyone who participated in this thread, it's always appreciated. And now I'll take questions if you had any.

Archibold (does anyone ever have that name and not be evil) was still there at the end of the chapter and Irene still left out Charlotte.

You think an evil minion would do that, just go around telling lies?

Personally I don't feel the need to have any smut in any of Arch's quests. I still wouldn't mind if someone wrote some non-canon stuff, or even expanded on future canon fade-to-blacks.
The only smut I can remember being written was that Tina/Rein hatesex one.

The only person around who was willing to do rapery things went and killed himself, so no.

I watched a few episodes of The Flash, it was surprisingly good. Dunno if you could say that I'm actively following it, though.

Nope. It's a coincidence that they share the same name.

Cecile: a cute onepiece swimsuit
Mina: sportsbra + shortshorts
Charlotte: Bikini + sarong
Irene: competition swimsuit
Theresa: sukumizu
