You feel the spirit snaking its way through your consciousness, forcing its way into your thoughts. Blackness rapidly encroaches on your vision, reducing the strange realm, and its burst of color and light, into a mere pinprick. A distant, swirling point. You fall into yourself, the air choked from your lungs and your body wracked by existential agony. An eternity seems to pass before you find yourself once more possessed of your senses.

You are greeted by a humanoid figure, its face a twisted contortion of needle-like teeth surrounding a gaping maw. Its torso is adorned by long, neat scars as if the creature has only recently been vivisected, and its form is emaciated. Its lower half and much of its arms seem to fade away into long, flowing red robes. However, upon closer inspection you come to realize the figure is actually covered in long strands of fine hair. It reminds you, in a very vague sort of way, of the the three skeletal figures which seem to spectate your life.

Your surroundings are nearly pitch black, save for around the creature itself. Its head is surrounded by a halo, and seems to glow with its own light. Around it, hues of grey and blue shift and swirl, never constant for anything but a short period of time. The figure leans down slowly, bringing its horrifying mouth to eye-level. Its teeth twitch and click together, like the mandibles of some sort of insect, and a rancid scent ushers forth from the black hole that rest at the back of its throat.

However, with each word you hear uttered in your mind the creature's mouth undulates, gnashing viciously as if speaking without sound.

I’m actually pretty satisfied with the outcome of everything so far. We got rid of the problem in a simple and efficient manner, even if we had some collateral damage. We’re (hopefully) about to get rid of the Dragon phylactery which is a massively dangerous artifact with no obvious uses to us, and we’re about to give it to something that actually has a chance of keeping it from that dragon (as a side note/speculation, I can’t really see a dragon bartering with a spirit, and I have no clue how strong this spirit is, but we can assume it’s quite strong) Thus removing us from that extremely dangerous equation of when the dragon wants that shit back. And now the Varishta will owe us a HUGE favor. Like big. Which should equate to some awesome shit (be it stuff or training or whatnot). Also we shall no doubt accompany him when he goes to the island so we shall also loot the place when we do. Plus dat Nature magic should help with loot retrival.
Not to mention that clearing the island with the Varishta will be fun and not really that dangerous because we’re kinda fighting alongside someone with godlike power.

You consider your options for a long while, puzzling over the words of the spirit, even though they didn't really seem intended for you. In the end you come to decide upon some form of spell. Preferably of the ancient and forgotten variety. You're not sure exactly which spell you'd like, there are seldom few truly forgotten spells you know of, hence the reason those spells were forgotten in the first place.

Off the top of your head, you know of Permanency. It was a spell rumored to be vital in the art of enchanting objects. Its effects are obvious enough based on the name, instead of an enchantment burning out or breaking down after a certain amount of time or a certain amount of vys has been pumped into it, the enchantment or spell effect would become self-sustaining and thus permanent. You recall your master once explained it as gifting a soul to an object, thus allowing it to create its own vys. How accurate that analogy might be, you can't be sure.

The other great lost metamagic you know of is Vys. Again, its name is rather self-explanatory. It allowed one to better manipulate the vys that saturates your world. Unlike permanency, this metamagic was not entirely lost. You know that until recently there was at least one living Vatis, a certain Master Rostam who's journal you've read, who knew the spell, and claimed that it could be used to control sentient beings much like one would a puppet. He conjectured that it must also be useful for other things, though never got around to figuring those alternative uses out.

It was pretty much like the second thing we did.

It was the rhyninas ruins and then the cloak.

Then there is the metamagic of Time. Another metamagic in the repertoire of Master Rostam before his disappearance. It allowed him to speed and slow the passage of time, to some limited degree. However, it was supposedly incredibly draining. Even a Grandmaster of his age and experience could only maintain the spell for but a few moments before passing out of finding himself a burned out husk for the rest of the day. It's also only useful with extremely specific effects, and cannot simply be cast by itself. Still, the concept of manipulating time is more than just a little tantalizing.
