> PREVIOUSLY ON MAGICAL GREEN LANTERN: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?searchall=Magical+Green+Lantern

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2y8A7ttvGiI

“You are Lumière Berger, Green Lantern of Sector 2814.” The Guardians all stand at their posts in the council chamberroom. You, Chaselon, and Ganthet stand below them all, in their judging sight. As it turns out, there are consequences to stealing prototype equipment and then sending it away, not to mention assaulting the Guards. In this case, despite Mogo’s helpfulness, he still turned you in. You do not blame him, he is a loyal Green Lantern only doing his duty.

“Your sentencing will begin now,” says one Guardian, Guardian Appa Ali Apsa. “For the crimes of assaulting Citadel Guards and theft of an experimental emotional spectrum prototype, Green Lantern Chaselon…” Chaselon looks up, his tentacles bound by energy cuffs. You can just see the sad look behind his mask. “Your Secure Authorization is revoked, and you are to undergo Planetary Arrest for a period of one week.” Chaselon is led away by a pair of guards, mopey.

“Guardian Ganthet.” Ganthet floats up past you, looking downwards in shame. “For your crimes of emotion, and of facilitating this theft, coercing two Green Lanterns to assist you, and refusal to cooperate with Green Lanterns in recovering the Artifact, you are hereby expelled from the council, and banished from Oa.” You cover your mouth, gasping. Monsieur Ganthet! “You will never be allowed to return to Oa, and you will be excommunicated from all our affairs from this point forward.” Another pair of guards come in, then lead Ganthet away.

You hold out your hand to him. “Monsieur!”

“Green Lantern Berger!” The Guardians catch your attention, and you stiffen up as soon as you face them again. “For the crime of assaulting Citadel Guards and theft of an experimental emotional spectrum prototype. We hereby-“

“Hold.” The Guardians look up to see Professeur Sinestro floating downwards. He drops down in front of you, stern. “Before you sentence my student, please consider that she was forcibly coerced into this course of action by Ganthet.” You open your mouth to say that you actually volunteered. He quickly wills tape over your mouth, shutting you up. Rude!

“Green Lantern Sinestro.” Appa Ali Apsa looks down on him with a heavy glare. “It is our business to know these things. We will not alter our plans just because you have taken a liking to your student.”

“At least allow her to choose her punishment. She will know what she deserves.” Sinestro looks down on you, smirking. Ah, yes, good thinking Professeur. Maybe there will be a comparatively light sentence in mind!

The Guardians quickly glance at each other, in thought. Appa Ali Apsa says, “Very well. Green Lantern Berger. The choices of punishment are as follows.”

“You may undergo Planetary Arrest. You will be restricted to your home planet for a period of two cycles, two weeks equivalent in your time. If you attempt to break your Planetary Arrest, your ring will forcibly keep you within your planet’s atmosphere.”

“You may also choose demotion from Active Green Lantern to Reserve. Green Lantern Savage will take over your duties, while you remain in reserve until our selected trainers can re-evaluate you. You may undergo training again, but if a new Green Lantern in your Sector is found or if you fail your training again, you will be stripped of your Power Ring.”

“Those are our choices,” says Appa Ali Apsa. “What will they be?”

Those- those are not comparatively light at all!

“I choose Planetary Arrest.”

The Guardians nod, then raise their arms. Their hands start emitting a glowing green aura. Your ring bucks, holding your arm up high. “Then for your crimes, you will be restricted to Sol 3, Sector 2814. Serve your sentence, and you will be redeemed in our eyes. Go now.”

Without a chance to thank Professeur Sinestro or apologize o Ganthet or Chaselon, you’re whisked back to Earth by your ring. The stars become a wash of colors you’re moving so fast!

You sit on a rooftop, sulking, kicking your legs off the edge. Steel barks, sitting next to you, happy as can be. Not even his usual happy demeanor can cheer you up. Usually it would, you love little Schteely, but there is something keeping your mood from lifting.

“Aw come on!” says Green Lantern Clarissa Savage. She sits next to you, chewing on some hotwings. “Planetary Arrest ain’t all bad, you little sadsack!”

“Be quiet you.”

“Come on!” She snaps her finger, then tosses away her hotwings. “I know what’ll cheer you up!” She stands up, then projects a piano down. She also projects herself a tophat and bowtie, then sits down and starts playing music. “A song!”

You roll your eyes, still glum. “Keep on the sunny side, always on the sunny side, keep on the sunny side of life.”

“There we go!” Clarissa goes back to the piano. “It’ll help us every day, it’ll brighten all our way, if we keep on the sunny side of life! If we keep on the sunny side of life!” She finishes with a few high notes, happily laughing. “Haha! Now, do you feel better?”

You cross your arms. “Sort of.”

“Well, fine, there we go!” Clarissa’s ring beeps. “Hold on.” She brings it up. “Green Lantern Savage, responding.”

Kilowog’s little image pops out of her ring. “Yo, Savage. We still haven’t agreed on whose tougher. Hehehe.” He pounds his fist into his palm, grinning.

“Oh, we don’t need to,” she says. She grins evilly. “We already know I am.”

“You come back to Oa and I’ll wipe that look off your face!” he yells. With that, he dissipates back into her ring.

Clarissa sighs, bringing her arms back behind her head and walking over to you. “Whoops, looks like I can’t stay here long. Gotta show that overgrown warthog who’s boss, yeah?” You shrug. “Hey, take care of yourself.” She blows a kiss to you, floating up. “Keep Earth nice and safe for me!” She blasts off.

Ugh. At least she gets to fly through space.

You have not had much contact with the Justice Society ever since the Dimensional Crisis. They did send a letter, saying for you to come by when you could. Their headquarters was based out of a brownstone hotel in New York City, just near Gotham. You and Steel float above the busy streets of New York, catching the views of men and women alike on the streets. You catch that phrase, “Look, it’s the Green Lantern!”

At least people recognize you.

You drop down in front of the nondescript brownstone building, then walk up the stoop to the door. You cradle Steel in your arm, then knock.

The door opens, revealing a lone hallway with a door at the end of it. You have to hand it to the JS, they know how to make things look ominous at least. You walk down the hall, the door closing behind you. The old floor creaks with your every step, making you stand on your tiptoes. Finally, you open up the door to reveal a huge room, much like a courthouse. At the center is a huge table, with the Justice Society emblem in the center.

“Ah, yes.” Doctor Fate and the Atom turn to you. “Green Lantern, we were not expecting you.”

“Apologies,” you say. You let Steel down on the floor, and he happily walks alongside you. “I’ve found myself some free time to devote to the Society. Where are the rest?”

“Patrolling,” says Doctor Fate. “Mister Pratt here was just debriefing me on the Dimensional Crisis.”

The Atom nods. “That’s right, figured you would get it done at least,” he says. “Nice work.”

Doctor Fate nods, his yellow helmet shining against the lone little light at the ceiling. “Green Lantern, there is a favor I must request of you. Let me know if you have time for it.”

You nod. “I do, but uh…” You look over to the Atom. “Monsieur Pratt, is it?” He shrugs, crossing his powerfully built arms. You stand eye to eye with him even. “Monsieur, everything is back to normal, is it not? Is there anything we should be on the lookout for?”

Monsieur Pratt says, “There are a few anomalies here and there but otherwise, everything is back to normal.”

“Anomalies?” you say.

“A misplaced person here or there, a building someplace else there.” He is very matter-of-fact about it. “Nothing too serious. Vandal Savage is still a Nazi, but otherwise, things are back to normal. So I wouldn’t worry about it for now.” He snaps his finger. “And hey, don’t call me Pratt around anyone, because-“

There’s a thump, which sets all of you on your ears. Steel trots up to a closet, growling at it.

Doctor Fate walks up past you both. “It appears we have an intruder.” He raises his arm, and immediately the door flies open to reveal-!

Red Tornado. She stands there, trying to look normal amongst the brooms, buckets, and other cleaning implements. She looks around through her cooking pot helmet. “Um…” She quickly raises her arms up stiffly. “BEEP BOOP, I AM RED TORNADO. I AM AN ANDROID CAPABLE OF-“

Atom surprise her, pointing at her. “Hey! I didn’t build you! Who the hell are you!?”

“Good god!” you scream. “The Red Tornado is a woman!”

Atom and Red Tornado practically snap their necks to turn to you. “What!?” they both yell. “You mean I was guy!?” yells Red Tornado. She looks at her hands, as if that somehow confirms she was at one point a man. She looks back up at you. “Was I at least handsome?”

Atom grabs her by the shoulders and lifts her up. “Listen, you have to tell me everything about your home dimension now!”

“Um…” Red Tornado taps the rim of her cooking pot, near her chin. “It’s hot where I live?” You laugh a bit, quietly. Even Doctor Fate seems to be in on it. The two of them look at you. “What are you laughing at?”

“I’m kidding,” you say. “This is my friend, Red Tornado.”

Red Tornado gasps, shaking her wrists in glee. “I’m your friend!? Heehee!”

Atom drops her, nearly flat on her rear. “Hold on, kid.” Red Tornado stands up, actually approaching his height. “Right, forget it. What are you even here for?”

Red Tornado sweeps back her cape, pointing to the sky. “I’m here to join the Justice Society!”

She looks at you all. “What? I can fight crime!” she whines. “Just-“ She looks around. “GL, you can vouch for me, right?” Doctor Fate and Atom look at you, expectantly.

You cross your arms. “I can vouch for her skill and ingenuity. She works well with others as well, I’ve worked closely with her a few times.” You smile at her. “But Red Tornado, you should make your own case, show them what you are made of.”

Red Tornado nods, her cooking pot helmet violently clattering. “Yeah, yeah, yeah!” She holds out her arms. “Tornados, on!” Wind starts swirling into the room violently.

“Yeah, yeah! We get it!” yells Atom, quickly stopping the indoor storm. “You can make tornados. Fine. But we can’t just let you in. We’d have to refer you to Hawkman and the Flash first, they induct new members.”

“So I’m in!?” She squees, happily bouncing about the place. Atom groans, holding his head.

Doctor Fate places his hand on your shoulder. “We must discuss things, come with me.” You and him start walking out of the room. “Green Lantern, this may be a stretch, but are you familiar with the Ancient Egyptians?”

“Of course I am, Doctor!” Wait. You narrow your eyes. “Our greatest enemy is a mummy now, is it not?”

“No.” Doctor Fate opens up a door, letting you into a rather cozy and well-kept study. You walk in and immediately gravitate towards his sizable book collection. Wow, he has everything, all the classics from Jules Verne, HG Wells, HP Lovecraft, the works! Doctor Fate walks up to his desks, then motions for you to sit. You quickly sit down and wow, this chair is comfortable! “I will be frank, Green Lantern. I have prior experience as an archaeologist, predominantly in the study of the Ancient Egyptians.”

You nod. “I had not noticed.”

He opens up his drawer, then slides over a map with a large red X on it. “During one of my travels, I discovered this tomb. Even with my magical powers, I was not able to open the doors to see what was inside.”

You cross your arms, frowning a bit. “What makes you think I will be able to?”

Another paper is slipped to you. “I found these hieroglyphics on the door. I believe it to be alien in origin.” The hieroglyphics are nothing like you’ve seen in the photos of ancient Egyptian tombs. This is more… strange even. “Can you translate them?”

You present your ring to it.

Through darkest depths and deepest craters,
We will never give up, we always get our man,

You blink. “It can’t make out the last line.”

“Scratched and dinked, most likely by tomb raiders.” Doctor Fate hands the papers to you. “I want you to investigate this tomb. And report to me what you find. I must stay here, keep the peace. Will you do this?”

You and Doctor Fate leave the room and walk out to see Atom and Red Tornado waiting for you. “Well, what did you two discuss?” asks Atom.

“The Green Lantern will assist me in an investigation,” says Doctor Fate. “We will remain here, and continue our duties as crimefighters and spybusters as normal.” He looks over to Red Tornado. “I will forward your offer to the Flash. He is an amicable man, and he will be glad to know another hero has offered their services.”

The Red Tornado jumps up in glee. “Yes! Thank you!” She happily shakes Doctor Fate’s hand, then looks over to you as you begin leaving. “Oh, Green Lantern!” She quickly jogs up to you. “Can I come with you? You know-“ She assumes an action pose, punching the air. “Sidekick at your side!”

Right, onto the desert!

“It’s so hot!” Red Tornado has said for another thirty times as you scope out the sands of Egypt in search of the tomb. “Can we take a break, GL?” she whines.

“Not yet,” you say. “We’re close, I can feel it.” You project yourself a pair of binoculars to scan the landscape. So much sand, so much sky. You wonder how Doctor Fate has the patience to be an archaeologist in this kind of environment. You sigh, bringing down the binoculars and using the old eyeballs to see what’s what.

“It’s so hot…” She flaps her hand useless, trying to fan herself as you both hover over the landscape.

You look at her. “Maybe you should take off your helmet. It’s probably cooking you in there.”

She sighs. “Fiiiiine…” She grabs the handles, then lifts it up. Underneath that helmet was the face of a young girl, with freckles on her cheeks, green eyes, and very lovely flowing red hair. She pouts angrily at you, holding her helmet underarm. “… you can stop looking at me!” she yells.

You quickly go back to scanning the horizon. Oh she was so adorable, you want to take her home now.

Wait, there it is! “There!” you say. You both quickly fly down to where you pointed. You plant your boots down on the stand, to see a very square entrance carved into a sanddune. The doors appear to have been blasted off it seems. “Someone’s beat us here,” you say.

“We can take them!” says Red Tornado. You smile at her. She quickly holds her hands over her face. “Stop looking at me!” You roll your eyes, looking inside. You both walk inside into the dark tomb. You hold up your ring and start projecting a green light for you to guide your way.

You stop, at what appears to be a very long set of stairs leading down into more darkness. You look up to see more hieroglyphics. “Those are the same glyphs that were on the door,” you say. You point your ring at the glyphs.

“Professeur.” Professeur Sinestro stands upon your ring, hands behind his back, looking quite cross. You smile nervously. “Um, sorry, you must be busy.”

“What is it?” He does not sound happy. Must not be considering he had to bail you out from the Guardians. “I am busy. Make it quick.”

“Professeur, do you know anything about Manhunters?” His glare drops into a confused frown. “We found some kind of tomb with what appears to be their oath on it. And we were wondering if the Manhunters have something to do with the Green Lantern Corps.”

Sinestro hums a bit, tapping his chin. “The Manhunters were the precursors to the Green Lanterns. For unspecified reasons, the Guardians took them offline and scrapped most if not all of them. We know very little else about them. You say have found Manhunters?” You shake your head, shrugging. “Well, I suppose I should take a look around. I will gather a team then meet you down there, Lumiere. Stay where you are, and avoid direct confrontation.” He disappears.

The Red Tornado says, “We can’t stay here!” You narrow your eyes at her. “Someone’s already beaten us here! If they’re down there, maybe they’re trying to use the Manhunters for something.”

>>
> You’re right, we should head down

You nod. “Alright, let’s go,” you say. You both start heading down the stairs. The Professeur certainly is not going to like that you’re heading down without his permission. Then again, you could be wasting valuable time staying down there. Oh well, you’ll see when it comes and you’ll meet that train when it arrives at the station.

You continue projecting your ring forward, until finally the stairs level out into a large room. What appear to be giant conveyer belts dot the area, with round silo looking appendages jutting from the walls, and great big barrels strewn about here and there. “Wow…” Red Tornado looks around. “It’s like a factory!”

You blink. “What are the Egyptians doing with a factory?” You continue walking onwards. Then you see a light, at the far end of the room. You and Red Tornado duck down, as you hear indeterminate chanting come from it. It sounds almost robotic in nature.

Red Tornado looks at you, fearfully. “I’ll go in if you go.” You nod, you carefully crouch over to the entrance. You carefully poke your head out. Down there is another hallway, but at the end of it, you can see shadows moving. Like great big men marching with great staves. Then you hear it.

:: Many years ago you shut down because the Guardians no longer believed in your ability to dispense Justice. I have reactivated you because we have a common goal, vengeance. We will see Oa destroyed, and we will see your successors, your pretenders, the Green Lantern Corps, crushed underfoot. ::

[ WE UNDERSTAND ]

No… it can’t be.

:: Show them what it means to be a Manhunter. Show them your determination, your infallibility, your grit and might. ::

[ NO MAN ESCAPES THE MANHUNTERS ]

You growl under your breath. “Legion.”

“Who’s that?” asks Red Tornado.

“He’s an enemy of the Green Lantern Corps. And he’s a great threat to everything we stand for.” You sigh. “But we can’t take him on, not just yet. None of us are strong enough to defeat him. He nearly won in a fight with some of our strongest Lanterns. We must wait for reinforcements.”

Red Tornado nods. “Okay, what’s the plan?”

“We head back up. Lay an ambush if they try anything,” you say. You both fistbump in agreement, then stand up and start tiptoeing back to the exit.

Only for Red Tornado to trip and fall over herself. She knocks over a barrel, it loudly clattering and spilling out green liquid all over the floor. You freeze in place, cringing.

The chanting has stopped.

:: You two, investigate that noise. ::

Red Tornado looks up at you, smiling nervously.

This sounds good.
>>
> Hide!

You quickly grab the barrel and slam it over her, concealing her. You look around for any place to hide. Ah, to hell with it. God give you the cunning to hide! You quickly jump underneath a conveyer belt.

Two giant metal men walk into the area. Their eyes glow red, engulfing the room with some sort of scanner. They march, holding some sort of staff in their hands as they sweep the area. You can see where they look based on which areas glow red under their vision. One bends over, scanning underneath the conveyer belt next to yours.

You quickly duck and slide down underneath one, just as he turns his head to look where you previously were.

You have to get out of here. Professeur, please hurry!

[ NO MAN ESCAPES THE MANHUNTERS. ]

They’re very strict about that, lifting up an entire conveyer belt. You can see how thick their bodies are. They must be strong and yet so light on their feet.

[ GREEN LANTERNS DETECTED ]

You cover your mouth. No!

“Lumiere!” Sinestro and other Green Lanterns have arrived. The Manhunters direct their staffs at them, ready to fire.

Yes, time to ambush them!

> CRITICAL SUCCESS: WILL

You feel a sudden burst of willpower.

You hop up onto the conveyer belt. The Manhunters quickly turn to face you.

Only to find a growling Werewolf and Mobster King Kong. They stand there, confused for a moment. You wave your arm forth, ordering them. “Attack!” The giant werewolf growls pounces on one, sending him barreling back and over a conveyer belt. The other aims his staff, only to be riddled full of holes by King Kong’s machine guns.

Yes, yes!

The last Manhunter stands up, the Werewolf biting into its neck. King Kong throws his machine guns at him, knocking him off balance. He roars, then jumps and smashes the Manhunter to bits. He tears the arm off and starts further beating down the automaton beast.

You wipe your forehead of sweat to see Professeur Sinestro, Chaselon, Stel, and Rot-Lop-Fan standing there, completely amazed. Professeur Sinestro walks up to you, smirking. “As expected from my most brightest student.” You grin, blushing a bit.

More Manhunters arrive, with Legion leading the pack.

:: Green Lanterns, kill them. ::

Professeur Sinestro looks back at you. “We need a way to stop these Manhunters from breaking free! If they defeat us here, they could overrun your planet!”

Red Tornado bursts out of her hiding place. “Here I am!” She generates a blast of wind, throwing several Manhunters off their feet. She flies forth to the safety of the crowd. “Let’s show these metal men who’s boss!” She looks over at Stel. “No offense.” Stel nods.

Chaselon leaps forth, smashing down a Manhunter with his construct drills. Sinestro follows behind, slamming another Manhunter to the ground with a brick wall. The other Manhunters lower their staves and fire. Stel quickly jumps in front of Sinestro and Chaselon and projects a shield. “Lumiere!” yells Sinestro.

There are far too many Manhunters. You look around. These old stones are susceptible to a lot of things, energy blasts, sound… waves. You look over at Rot Lop Fan, apparently unknowing of his purpose. “F-Sharp!” you yell. He looks in your direction. “We need a cave in!”

He nods, then shrieks sharply. The green waves of sound echo through the chamber. Stone starts shattering and crumbling under his cry. Sand starts leaking through the ceiling, then a giant hole opens up. Manhunters in the back are completely buried, while others struggle to make their way out. “Go, go!” yells Sinestro. He puts up a shield above your heads as the sand starts flooding into the room.

You hover up. Then something grabs your leg. “Ah! SINESTRO!” you scream. Legion bursts from the sands, grabbing your leg. Professeur Sinestro looks back, then his eyes widen.

“No!” he yells. He fires off a shot, which bounces harmlessly off of Legion’s armor.

Red Tornado flies in, sweeping away the sand with a powerful wind gust. “Take my hand!” she yells.

She’s too far! A blast of sand nearly envelopes her, but swift timing from Chaselon pulls her away. “Green Lantern Berger!” He tries to grab you with a construct, only for Legion to pull in further and block the blast with his arm.

“No!” Sinestro runs up, strutting through the sand. Stel and Rot Lop Fan catch him, pulling him towards the entrance. “No! Let go of me!” He holds out his hand to you. “Lumière! Nooo!”

“Sinestro!” you scream. Not like this! Not like this! “Thaal!” Legion pulls you under the sands.

“No!”

You cover your mouth. You can feel the hard grians of sand invade your eyelids, your nostrils, and your ears. Everything is nothing but a rush of sand. You can’t see, you can’t hear, you can’t do anything but choke. You feel Legion’s hands grab you by the throat, slowly squeezing. No! No!

:: Be thankful, Green Lantern. I will grant you the mercy of a quick death the Guardians denied us.”

No… No! No! Not like this! You present your ring to him. It fizzles and sparks. No! NO! NO! Please, work! Why won’t it work!? You can feel the air leaving you, the tears flowing out of your eyes, the sands sticking to your face.

You open your eyes, breathing deeply. You feel so much better now. Just a minute ago you were dying but now…

You sit up, underneath the fine sheets of a blanket. You are still in your Green Lantern outfit. You look around to find yourself in a very fine master bedroom. Yet, you can’t recognize the architecture. Everything seems so alien. You look to see a Power Battery at your night stand. You look again to find curtains, covering up what seems to be a balcony. Where are you?

The door opens up, and in walks a robotic servant. “HELLO GREEN LANTERN BERGER. OUR LORD AND MASTER THAAL SINESTRO WILL BE ELATED YOU ARE AWAKE.” He presents you some tea. “WOULD YOU LIKE SOME TEA? FRESH FROM YOUR EARTHLY GARDENS.”

You take the saucer and cup and quickly down it. The hot liquid burns your throat, but it’s enough to remind you that yes indeed, you are alive. Thank God, glory to the Lord! The Robotic Servant pours more tea for you, which you drink, a little more slowly this time. “Where am I? Who are you?”

“I AM LORD THAAL SINESTRO’S TRUSTED SERVANT. YOU ARE ON THE PLANET KORUGAR, HOME TO THAAL SINESTRO AND CENTRAL POINT OF SPACE SECTOR 1417 AS DIVIDED BY THE GUARIDANS,” the Robot explains. He pours another cup of tea. “ANOTHER CUP?”

You’re about to take it, when the man himself comes in. Professeur Sinestro, wearing his Green Lantern Uniform, but adding on a mighty green cape with a brooch in the symbol of the Green Lantern Corps. He smiles, holding his arms wide. “Lumière.”

You place down your cup and saucer, then hop off the bed. You immediately hug him as tightly as you can. He is real! This isn’t heaven at all! Everything is real, so real! “Professeur!” You feel a lump in your throat. Oh, you’re close to crying. “Professeur…”

“Sssh.” He pats your back, warmly. “It is okay, my student. You are safe.”

“How?” You look up at him, wiping a tear out of your eye. “How did you save me?”

“It was not easy. Truth be told, when I ran into the sands to save you, you were already dead. Clinically.” You gasp. “But Chaselon managed to revive you, long enough for me to take you to Korugar, with the Guardians’ permission. You have been recovering for about a few of your Earth days.” He smiles, brushing a few stray locks from your eyes. “Do not worry, you are safe now. And I invite you to stay a while on my home planet.”

You grin. “I would love to, Professeur. Absolument! How long?”

Sinestro shrugs. “As long as you would like. I know I should not keep you long, you have duties on Earth. In the meantime, rest up, wash up. I have some matters I must attend to very quickly, I apologize. My Servant will be here in case you need him.”

You nod, stepping back and looking around the room. Oh, it feels like being a Princess in here! Your very own master bedroom! Ehehe! “Merci beaucoup.” He nods, then leaves the room, shutting the door behind him.

You giggle, skipping over to the bathroom. It is time for a bath and a quick brush of the teeth-

Your ring beeps. Oh, please. You hold up your ring. “Allo?”

“Green Lantern Berger. It is Tomar-Re.” He doesn’t come up in visual like other messages. “Salaak has just informed us that you are quite better now. That is good, very good.” He sounds distressed, strange. “Has Sinestro done anything?”

You roll your eyes. Tomar-Re is investigating those bogus claims of power abuse, of course. He probably knows you’re on Korugar by now. “No, Tomar-Re, he has not. Why?”

“Because the second ring of 1417, his Sector, has not been accounted for. We cannot track it anywhere. It is as if it has completely disappeared. Sinestro will not allow anyone near his home planet, let alone his Sector.” Okay, that is slightly strange. “Green Lantern Berger, we must ask that you investigate this matter for us. I cannot talk long, he may be tracking messages. We will be in contact.” The ring dims, the message over.

One of the most distinguished Green Lanterns in existence and in recent history abusing his power and claiming dominion over others? That's ridiculous. You sigh, stripping out of your clothes then pouring yourself a bath. God, even his bathrooms are lovely! It’s as if you were taking a bath in the home of the Lord himself! You giggle happily, covering yourself with your hands as you test the water. Ah, hot as can be. You moan happily as you lower yourself into the hot steamy bath, then lie back.

Oh, God have mercy.

You look to the side, to see the Robot Servant. “I AM HERE IF YOU NEED ME.”

You narrow your eyes. “Could you not? I would prefer to bath alone,” you say.

“I AM NOT TO LEAVE YOUR SIDE,” says the Servant.

Hmph. You suppose it is just Professeur being a bit cautious. Oh well, you take a sponge and some of his very exotic alien soap, then kick your leg upward. Hmph, you may not have breasts like Clarissa Savage, but you make up for it in legs! You gently lather your leg with the soap, quietly singing to yourself in French.

Though, you must admit. Something about the situation is odd. Wouldn’t the Professeur have a backup Lantern? You did. And even then, the ring usually finds people quickly thanks to Mogo. How would it have gotten lost so quickly? This merits some investigation you suppose but…

No, no. The Guardians are being paranoid. This is your teacher, nay, your new father you are speaking of! To heck with your coward of an old one.

You nod. “Oui, oui. Come in!” He’s an alien anyway. He probably isn’t attracted to the human body. He opens up the door, and his eyes briefly widen upon seeing you in the bath.

Okay, maybe you are wrong. You quickly cover yourself with your hands.

“Well, Lumière. Let me ask a question. Have the Green Lanterns contacted you about the second ring?” You tilt your head. “Or anything regarding my Sector?”

You blink. You don’t want to lie, but you’re not sure if you should tell the truth. “Um, why?”

Sinestro sighs, turning to the face the mirror. “I have served the Green Lantern Corps faithfully for much of my life, Lumière. The Corps is my life, and yet there are those who question my loyalty. They think me to be some traitor in their ranks. I say phooey to them, they know not what they speak.” He leans forward on the sink, glaring at himself. “I am no traitor. I simply know that this is not a universe of absolutes.”

You nod. “I see, Professeur. So, you are no traitor?”

He smiles at you. “I will never betray the Corps or its ideals. We are to maintain order in the universe, and I do it now, almost as well as the Puffball Collective.” He kneels down by your bath, again brush your wet locks from your eyes. “Fear not, Lumière. >You nod. “Oui, oui. Come in!” He’s an alien anyway. He probably isn’t attracted to the human body. He opens up the door, and his eyes briefly widen upon seeing you in the bath.
>Okay, maybe you are wrong. You quickly cover yourself with your hands.

Aww, that makes sense I think the last two aliens who saw us like this didn't care.

> “What about the other ring?”

> “What about the other ring?”

You smile at him. “Merci, Professeur. Thank you.” Your smile drops however. “But, what about the other ring?”

“Pardon?” His eyebrow quirks a bit.

“The other ring, for the other Lantern of 1417. Was it intercepted or stolen or something?” you ask.

Sinestro takes your hand, clasping it within his. You blush a bit, looking downwards. “Lumière, rest assured. The ring is safe. I know where it is in fact. But I will choose its user when I say so.” What? Only Mogo has that authority. You’re about to say something, when he presses his finger to your lips, shushing you. “Think nothing of it.” He stands up, letting go. “I have business to attend to. I will be in my study if you need me.”

You nod, watching him as he leaves. The Servant continues to watch over you.

Okay, now this is getting strange. The Professeur only has authority over his ring. Unoccupied ones are driven by Mogo and the Guardians. You sigh, as nice as this bath is, you need to investigate this. You stand up, and hop out. You dry yourself quickly, then project your uniform back on. You walk to the door.

The Servant blocks your way. “YOUR BATH IS NOT FINISHED, GREEN LANTERN BERGER. STAY A LITTLE LONGER.”

You push him aside. “Out of my way.” He does nothing but stare at you as you step out of the bathroom, then follow you as you continue on. You pull up your ring and start up the tracker.

> INITIATING TRACKING PROTOCOL…
> POWER RING B-1417.

The ring beeps. It’s a very faint signal, but it’s there. You exit your room, then walk the well-kept halls of what you think to be Sinestro’s mansion. The Servant continues to follow you, keeping his distance. Perhaps that is the Professeur’s way of keeping a tab on you. It’s certainly something but you’d rather be alone right now. It beeps again, and you continue on with will and instinct.

Finally, you reach some sort of living area. On one side is a balcony and windows, completely covered with curtains like the one in your bedroom. A pair of couches face the fireplace in a triangular formation, with a little coffee table in between. Books as well line his shelves. Above the fireplace is a full-body portrait of Professeur Sinestro himself, in lordly Green Lantern Regalia. Hm. The Professeur seems to have a high opinion of himself.

Well, you did figure that out the minute you met him.

The ring beeps again. The other ring must be here, and if adventure novels have taught you anything it’s behind the portrait. You carefully will the portrait off the wall, revealing a safe behind it, covered in yellow.

You sigh. Of course it’s yellow. The Servant manages to catch up with you. “PERHAPS YOU SHOULD REST IN YOUR ROOM.”

You look back at him. That might work.

[1/2]
>>
>>35737990
[2/2]

You slam the Servant into the safe, cracking it open. You toss him aside, then hop onto the fireplace, and pull it open. Inside is a yellow jewelry box. You grab it, then step onto the rug. You open it up to reveal the Power Ring, glowing green, bounded to the yellow interior. It shakes and struggles, trying to break free like a prisoner.

Why would the Professeur-

“Lumière. What are you doing?” You look back to see Sinestro, looking very disappointed at you. He holds two glasses of what you assume to be wine.

“Why is the ring locked up like this?” you ask.

“Safety,” he says. “It is one of the most powerful objects in the universe. Can’t let the average person have it. In my care, it will never fall into the wrong hands.” He walks up to you, offering a glass.

“But-“ You look over to the curtains. “The Guardians said it, two lanterns to a sector now! This Ring needs to find its rightful owner! And you-“ He offers you the glass.

“Come have a drink with me,” he says. “Don’t worry, you are on a different planet. No drinking laws.”

> “Fine.”

You take the glass, glaring at the red liquid inside it, then sigh. “Explain yourself.” He nods, motioning for you sit at a couch. You sit down, and he sits down as well, very close to you. “What is happening here? What are you doing?”

“I explained myself earlier. I do not trust the Guardians or Mogo, trustworthy as he is, to choose the new Green Lantern of 1417. I have kept this Sector safe for so long. I cannot have a rookie Lantern ruin it for me.”

You place the wine down on the table. “But Professeur, I mean… I-“

“Take you and Clarissa Savage for example. Already she is taking your place. She dabbles with Kilowog and the Guardians, and she polices your Sector. But do you trust her?”

You narrow your eyes. “That is not relevant.”

He rolls his eyes. “Sure it is not.” He takes a sip, then places his glass down on the table. He scoots closer, pressing his leg against yours. You blink, scooting back a bit. “Listen, what I have here is one of the most safest Sectors in the Universe. And if I had my way, I would do the same with the rest. There is so much more I could teach you.” He gently places his hand on your thigh. You blush heavily, looking him in the eye. What is he-? “There is much I could show you.”

You swallow heavily. “P-Professeur, this is inappropriate. I-“ You look to the curtains.

He looks to the curtains as well. “Would you like to see?”

[1/2]
>>
>>35738535
[2/2]

Oh, anything to get away from this! You stand up and stomp over to the curtains. You throw them open.

… Good Lord. Green Banners of the Green Lantern Corps fly across skyscrapers. Sinestro’s face is broadcasted across the city with flying robots. “… know that I, your Lord and Master, Thaal Sinestro, am doing this for your own protection. Your neighbor may be arrested, like your children, or your relatives. But know that all have the capacity to commit crimes, and all have the same capacity to take a life. That will not happen under my rule.”

No. No… You cover your mouth, that lump in your throat returning. But not in a good way. Tears start flowing from your eyes. Sinestro walks up behind you, then places his hands on your hips. “Is it not beautiful? Order, across an entire planet.”

You quietly whisper, “You monster…”

“Call me a monster if you wish, you will thank me, and so will they,” he says bluntly. “This is the safest planet in my entire Sector.” He bends down slightly, bringing his mouth to your ear. “And if you stay, I can teach you. Show you how to make your planet safe and orderly as well.” Not like this. “The Green Lanterns are sending a force to capture me.” What?

“How?”

He points down to your ring, which has been glowing without your knowledge. “They have been listening. The Ring works both ways. They are coming for me. They look at this, and reject it.” He places a hand on your shoulder. “Lumière, help me fight them.”

“What?” you blink, looking up at him. He takes your chin, running his fingers below your jaw. “B-but…”

“I can show you so much.” He leans in, slowly. “I can be your guide. And so much more. Join me.”

“Let go of me.” Sinestro flinches backwards, surprised. “Let go of me!” you scream, the tears running freely. You wrestle free of his hands, walking to the edge of the balcony and grabbing the railing. Your vision is blurred by it all. Your heart… Oh God, your heart. “You betrayed me!” you scream to him. “Everything, all of this is why I fled my country! And for what!?”

Sinestro angrily stomps up to you. “Everything I do, is in the name of order. I do not trust anyone else to do it, the average person is too stupid to police himself. You know that, the Guardians refuse to believe it, but that is the sad truth of this universe! And like it or not, this is what the universe will look like if I were to run things.”

You shake your head, keeping your hands up to stop the tears. “Not with me… Not with me! You bastard! You horrible bastard!... I loved you…” Sinestro steps back, surprised. “I would’ve called you papa! But instead, you’re worse than that coward son of a bitch!” You shove him back. “You monster! I hate you! I hate you!” you scream, your throat almost giving out.

He stands there, dumbfounded as you sob. Then he goes back to his distinct scowl. “Fine. If you will not accept it, there is no reason for you to be here.” He grabs your arm. You try to fight back, you even try your power ring, only for him to shove your ring hand into a green bubble, useless.

He throws you into a golden cage. “I knew I would have a use for this,” he says. You look around, to see others locked up. Some looked starved and malnourished. Others just look dead. You can’t stop crying. No, why did this happen? You look up at him. “You leave me no choice. If you are not with me, you are against me.” He turns away, locking the door behind you, leaving you in the dark.

You look at your ring, still quietly crying. Professeur…

Why did you do this?

“Hey.” You look over to see a Korugan woman, with short hair. She wears tattered clothing, and wears a metal collar with a chain tied to the ground. “Sinestro’s caught you too huh?” You look away, burying your face in your hands. “It’s okay.”

“Nothing’s okay. Nothing will ever be okay,” you say.

“Listen, it may pretty dark now. But I know that even in blackest nights like this, the Green Lantern Corps will pull through.” You look up at her. She smiles as best she can, still looking so tired and ragged.

“What’s your name?” you ask.

Yes.

People are selfish... and really don't give a shit as long as they can get on with their daily lives.

First world nations are currently prospering off the suffering of third world nations and no one really seems too troubled.

Sweatshop workers in China die to make your ipod. Yes... that's bad.. but.. No one gives a fuck.

It's the same thing.

It's not Fascism. It's not nationalistic in any way. It doesn't promote the idea of a master race or a greater race.

It's nationalistic in that it's Sinestro's home planet and not some other. This planet is supposed to be Sinestro's ideal.

Nationalistic doesn't mean expansionistic. They already have the whole planet.

All he had to do was take her to some remote part of the planet with no HAIL SINESTRO banners, give her some wine coolers and Lumi would have popped out Soranik 9 months later none the wiser.

but nooo, lets bring her to NAZIBURG, WW2 and occupied france wasn't that big a thing to the french! She'll be totally okay with a totalitarian regime.

the people in the alt universe Sinestro quest must be kicking up a shitstorm.

at least hate fucking can still happen
