LAST EPISODE: You left a mental facility AMA.

“So,” Star says to the people gathered around the table in the Dumpling Factory. “Shall we start the war council meeting before or after the pizza arrives?”

The ‘council’ consists of the four Ghostbusters, Yurei, Sana, Rei, Sachiko, Kali, Reika, and Rini.

“Let’s start now.” Rei says.

“Alright.” Sato says. He spreads a map of Tokyo over the table. He then dumps a pile of miniature soldiers onto the table.

“Where’d you get these?” Kali asked.

Sato shrugs. “Some mom was selling off her kids’ otaku crap as punishment for him flunking his entrance exams. Said that it was to raise money for his cram school. I got a whole box of them for 2000 yen. They looked cool.”

“You got a deal.” Kali said. “Dibs on the Farseer.” She says grabbing a figure.

“Is that what they’re called?” Sato said.

Kali winced and pinched her nose. “If you didn’t know what they were, why did you buy them?”

Sato shrugged. “They looked cool, and I could use them for stuff like this.”

Reika looks at Sato. “You knew that one day you would need figurines to help plot a battle strategy to save Tokyo?”

Sato shrugs. “As the Ancients say: He who has a full tool box, is never defeated by a nail…or something like that.”

The rest of the council just stares at Sato for a bit, then they turn to you.

“Okay,” Rei says. “That aside, what are we going to discuss first?”

> Let’s start with the Fire Kimono

You are a bad man.

> We should plan for countering the strike teams
> First, the raid on P-COC

I feel like we should discuss these, because if we can fix the Registry issue that kind of solves the strike team issue
>>
>>35713454
> First, the raid on P-COC
Destroy the bindings keeping the spiritualists from helping means we also get at the Imperial Decree that tied up the kami.
>>
>>35713454
>First, the raid on P-COC
This way we can get reinforcements.
>>
>>35713700
Even if we don't get reinforcements, there's going to be so much death and destruction caused by exorcists actively fighting around Tokyo that it will disrupt the strike teams.
>>
> We’ll start with the big one, Oiwa.
Guys, isn't this like, the overarching thing?

Maybe we should discuss the end goal plan, and then work on the means and lesser things since it will all tie into that.
>>
>>35713700
"So," You say. "We need to get the playing field as level as we can, as fast as we can." You point at the P-COC headquarters. "Which means that we've got to destroy the registry. Or at least the contracts that will be keeping all of the other exorcists and priestesses from helping."

"How does that work anyway?" San asks. "Force fields, induced pain, hypnotic suggestion?"

You shrug.

"How are we going to get the other people to fight once we do free them?" Rei asks.

"I assume that those that want to jump in will be jumping in, once they see what kind of mess is going down." Akira says. "That or your PAGANs will rally them."

"And you want me and Gramps to raid the place." Kali says, dropping her army piece on the HQ. She frowns. "That place is going to be crawling with snaggleteeth, fur-sacks, and probably a couple of one tails. All of them with a wicked power boost from the Conjunction."

"Doesn't that street run both ways?" Star asks. "Won't you and Gramps get a boost too?"

"Yeah, but don't go thinking that'll turn us into something from Hellsing." Kali says.

"Okay," Sana says. "At most, how many could you take?"

"Well, I dunno...between the two of us, we could probably take out about twenty of the trash. However, if there's a kitsune? One, no problem. However, throw the other trash yokai into it, and it gets dicey. If there's more than one, or if it's a three-tail?" She shakes her head. "I don't think we'd be able to handle it."

"What if we did a less direct assault?" Sato asks. "Sneak you in."

"How?" Kali asks. "I'm not jumping out of a helicopter."

"Weren't you in a circus troupe?" You ask.

"As a juggler." Kali says.

> Arrange for Kali to have some backup
> Come up with a less direct route...one that doesn't involve Mission Impossible type shenanigans
> You have faith in Kali and Gramps' abilities
> Find a way to super-charge their already amplified powers

> Find a way to super-charge their already amplified powers

This can't end badly.
>>
>>35714260
>> Find a way to super-charge their already amplified powers

I mean, what if we had them drink the blood of a kitsune? We have a friendly one.

Or, we could be somewhat tactical about it and create a distraction.

> Come up with a less direct route...one that doesn't involve Mission Impossible type shenanigans

Can we sneak them in as research subjects or something? Or using Yuri & her new song powers?
>>
>>35714390
Depending on if Vampirism is tied into PKE, we could attempt to naturally charge them with PKE or perhaps feeding them blood with charged PKE.
>>
>>35714437
From the Ghost-Busters wikia

So, yeah?

You know we're going to have to roll to have them not go all frenzied though, right?
>>
>>35714560
"Could we give you another edge?" You ask. "Find a way to buff your powers more?"

Kali shrugs. "Maybe, but...well...first, you know bloodsuckers get a little nutty if we get too juiced up. Second, since I never really had any big interests in power, I've never gone out of my way to look for stuff like that. Hemovores who do tend to end up getting the attention of people who use pointy pieces of wood."

"What about kitsune blood?" Sato asks. "We know a go-"

"Kuzu's on a plane to Hawaii." You say. "Kaede's with her."

"Well..." Star turns on her laptop. "Let's see if there's anything in the GB Databases."

Star searches and her face brightens, and then she frowns.

"Well...there IS a way to get you enough power that will make you comparable to some anime vampires." Star says.

"What's the 'but' then?" Kali says.

"It'll fry you." Star says. "We can super-charge the PKE that's in you. It will pretty much turn you into an unstoppable being of undead energy."

"But it'll burn me out." Kali says.

"Yep. It will reduce you to ash." Star sighs.

"Anyway to just get half a dose?" Kali asks.

Star shakes her head. "It's not a 'dosage' kind of deal. A half-charge wouldn't give you any more power than what you'd receive from the Conjunction, and it's not additive."

Kali purses her lips, crosses her arms, and looks down at the table.

"Going out saving all of Tokyo..." Kali mumbles to herself. "Would I have enough time?"

"Plenty, but it would be your last night. Dawn comes, you go." Star says.

"Huh." Kali says.

She looks like she's seriously considering it.

One of the most important things a person can do in life is to ask themselves how do they see it, from beginning to end.

However, if he were to pipe up and demand the chance to go out in glory, we wouldn't stop him and that would be fine. He could convince Kali that she was younger, she had more to go for her in life, and if anyone badly needed a chance to go out in a blaze of glory it's his wrinkly ass.

"Don't...don't do this Kali." You say. "There's too few decent vamps in the world."

"Thanks." Kali says.

"What...what about Gramps?" You ask. "What would his position be on this?"

"Gramps doesn't really have an opinion of his own on this. He's old, VERY old, and traditional. If you ask him to do this, he'll do this gladly and without hesitation. If you say that he shouldn't, then he won't." Kali shrugs. "The only thing I've ever seen Gramps refuse to do was drink, or harm, a minor. Even under magical geas, he refused. Everything else, good or bad, he's probably done. I've seen him do a lot."

"So, maybe we could use this on him, like a back up?" You say.

Star shakes her head. "Sorry, this isn't something we can just have the vamps store in their back pocket 'for emergencies.' We'd have to supercharge the vampire BEFORE you attack the HQ.

"So it's commit to this, or don't." Star says.

Kali shrugs. "The old man's been around for a long time."

He's basically an automaton at this point. Kali says he's equally capable of good or bad and is willing to do either pending on who is his ally at the time.

How long can we expect him to be under GB eye? Will we keep him forever like a guard dog, hoping that he doesn't somehow fall into the wrong influence? Not let him slip from our sight and end up under the sway of the wrong people and we have to put him down?

Kali's good nature can be attested to, she knows to do the right thing. He on the otherhand follows tradition and his allies, no matter who they are or the result. This may be his chance to end his life on a good note.

You take a deep breath and then look at Kali. "He won't go nuts with it? He'll just take out the yokai trash there so you can destroy the contracts?"

Kali nods. "Yeah. You've seen him," She talks to Sachiko. "He barely does anything."

Sachiko nods. "He's been a model vampire, so far. So, of course it's a good idea to super-charge him with power."

"Objections?" You ask the priestess.

"Oh, plenty." Sachiko says. "But...well...I don't think he'd go attacking people randomly."

Kali nods. "He'd view it as savage. Anyway, I'll still ask him and make sure that it's his call in the end."

"Okay. And as for the Papyrus of Ma'at? Will burning it work?" You ask Star.

"Kali will have to say a ritual prayer before she torches them. But I can give her a script." Star says. "You okay with fire?"

"Not the best of friends." Kali says. "But I'm okay with it."

"Okay." You plunk down a farseer and a warlock on the P-COC HQ. "That's that."

"Now..." You say, looking at the map. "What's next?"

"Question." Sachiko asks. "Is there really ANY aspect of this nightmare that DOESN'T have complications?"

"No." Comes the answer from everyone around the table.

Guys, the question shouldn't be "is it right to have Gramps die for our plan".

It should be "Is this a good plan in the first place?"
If it's a bad plan to begin with, then supercharging him and causing a massive PKE surge at the PCOC HQ that will draw a lot of attention and forces, when we want the exorcists who can detect PKE to be spreading out and muckin up the strike teams, may be a bad idea.

>>
>>35718622
You drop a Necron by the docks. "So...this is our BIG problem."

"Well, the RX-78 is all ready." Rei says. "Slimed inside and out. We've got speakers inside ready to play the theme song, and a few other appropriate songs." She grins.

"So whomever is inside it can pilot it?" You ask.

"That's the snag." Rei sighs. "There's no place inside the RX to stand, or sit or...well...pilot it. We're going to have to do it remotely."

There's a chorus of 'Awwww's' around the table.

"So we set up a receiver." Rei says. "But we haven't gotten the transmitter finished. The notes on how they got the Statue of Liberty to move weren't completely applicable, so we've improvised."

"How?" You ask.

"Well, we aren't sure about HOW it's going to be controlled." Rei says. "We can hook it up to some SIRI voice recognition software and have it be voice controlled, we can also do a six button arcade controller, or we can use some Wii motion wands."

"Those are our options?" You ask.

"Well, I'm sorry to say that we lack having a flight simulator pod...and we couldn't find an arcade where we could 'borrow' one." Rei says with a shrug.

"And as for trying to get the joystick/computer screen thing working...it's weird...the slime doesn't work as well." She shrugs. Sana's face lights up and she grins. "Oh. Fuck. Yes."

"Well...it's not like we can hide the fact that we're using the Gundam, right?" Sato says. "Mae's going to either guess that there's someone inside the thing, or that there's someone controlling the thing. Which means she's going to send some people to try and find Sana. Maybe."

"I'll find a good place to hide." Sana says.

"Or we can send you back up." Sato says.

"If we send back-up, that may increase the chances of someone noticing that the pilot isn't inside the Gundam." Akira says.

How far away can Sana be from the thing and still be able to control it?

Surely there's a way we can boost the range from the base as well as provide other means of visual for her to see what's going on.

Unless the Yomi-1 will be needed elsewhere, have it trail the giant Gundam. Because everyone knows the Yomi-1 or the Ecto-1 almost never gets smashed by the giant monster.

They will presume that with it's big anntennae, protocon cannon, that it's acting as the control ship, drawing their attention.

Sana, and an elite group of Pagans, can control it from a nearby unscrupulous van protected by Elite Pagans.

This is a problem which is even worse from ground level.

You frown, looking at the map. Then you pick up a figure of what looks like two people on a rocket scooter.

"Does anyone own a motorbike or a moped?" You ask. "Or, do you still have that van Rei?"

Rei nods. "Yeah...oh! Okay. Yeah. I can have one of my guys as a driver. That'll work."

"Good. You get your best driver." You put down the figurine. "You'll hide in the van, and if it looks like it's getting dicey, your guy drives and Sana keeps piloting the Gundam and trashes the skeleton."

"Okay." You put a banshee on the table at the Shibuya Scramble. "Mimiko. The fourth aspect of Oiwa."

"Can't believe we missed one." Akira says.

"Apparently, Mae had her in her back pocket since the beginning." Sato says. "She's the weakest of them all."

"Mine!" Sachiko says as she puts a Sister of Battle down at the scramble. "Leave this one to us. Also," She points at Akira. "I will need to borrow your horse."

"Musashi?! No!" Akira says. "She's not yours to ride into battle!"

"You barely ride her anyway." Sachiko says.

"Asphalt is hard on her." Akira says. "Anyway, she's...a very touchy horse. She doesn't like a lot of people."

"She likes me and you know it." Sachiko says.

"ENOUGH!" You snap. "Sachiko, are you absolutely sure that you want to take Mimiko on?"

For that we're planning on luring out the strike team meant to take on the Base through Yomi-1 and deception.

Have a team of Pagans drive out in the Yomi-1 sirens blaring, while we wait for the assault on the base. Once it starts, we take on the strike-team, and the Yomi-1 drives back with Pagans on Proton canon and Super Trap. With the base secured, or at least most of the major assault removed, we'll be free to go elsewhere.

"It's going to be activated at the Imperial Palace." Star says. "Also, Oiwa will be happy when she sees who is wearing it."

"So...who would Oiwa be pleased at being seen burned alive?" Sato asks.

"From what I learned from her fragments," Sachiko says. "That's a list that could include pretty much everyone in Japan."

"Oh!" Rei says. "That's it!"

Everyone looks at her. "What?" Sato asks.

"There's a Lunar Viewing Party. To celebrate the conjunction." Rei says. "The Emperor, his family, the Prime Minister, and a bunch of the Great and the Good will be there."

"To look at the moon?" Sachiko asks.

Rei shrugs. "And to talk politics, and to be seen talking politics. It's a stellar event that can be clearly seen from Japan. They love making ceremony about this."

"And one of the guests is going to turn into a giant inferno." Akira says. "Mae really doesn't do half measures."

"Can you get into that party?" You ask her.

Rei shrugs. "Maybe? It would burn all the clout I have, but I can probably squeak an invite or two. But we'd be in the general party, nowhere near the important people."

"But you'd be inside." You say.

"Yeah. But we wouldn't be able to walk in wearing proton packs." Rei says. "We'd have to sneak them in."

"Could you at least get you, or your people, past the gate?" Sato says.

"Is it not written, that where there is one door closed, there is always a mouse hole open?" Rei says. "Or something like that. I can get us into the staff entrance pretty easy, but it's not like we'll be able to answer any questions that get asked of us."

"You could just wait until the screaming starts." Sachiko says. "Then run right in."

"Yeah, but by then the kimono will have been on fire. If we want to catch it WHEN it ignites, we try for the staff entrance." Rei says. "And if a charming gentleman wants to accompany me." She smiles at Sato. "Maybe we'll catch it before it ignites."

> Rei and her Elite PAGANS slip in through the staff entrance and stop the fire before it causes any damage. This will limit the damage, and bring the most force down upon this threat quickly...but if they're caught before the flashpoint, they'll be screwed.

> Have Rei and her Elite PAGANs wait outside until the fire and the panic starts, then run in and contain it. This poses the smallest amount of threat or complication to Rei's team...but it means that there will be a span of time where the fire will be unchecked.

Mae is a coward and as long as minions are around she'll send them. The only reason she'd get into a fight is if she felt she'd have a 100% chance of victory + gloating.

"I'm sorry?"

"We get all the PAGANs, and we send them as a whole to fight the strike teams. We'll move slow, but we'll be able to overpower them, hopefully, some teams will come and attack us, as we'll be the biggest threat."

"Until the registry is broken." Akira says.

"I think it's best to go with the assumption that we're all we're going to get." Rei says. "I don't doubt Kali,"

"Thank you." The vampire says.

"But there's not a timeframe we can depend on." Rei says. "The second thing is that we stay in one area, and defend it. Then when we hear of attacks, we send out assault teams. We'll use radio walkie talkies to avoid Mimiko."

"And zone?" Star asks.

"We break up the PAGANs into groups and have them just cover one area of the city. That way we have the whole city covered. There's less of a chance of neutralizing them, but we can chase them all around the city, keeping them from hurting anyone."

"How did you come up with all these plans?" Akira asks Rei.

Rei shrugs. "I read a couple of tactics for dummies books. This is very basic stuff."

Sato has placed a Commissar and a Space Marine at the Imperial Palace. "It sounds amazing to me."

Finding the fastest way to neutralize them may be more effective than splitting up our forces into zones. It's likely they'll perform divide and conquer, focusing all their efforts on the lightly guarded zones one at a time.

I prefer this plan.

We prepare our groups not to be able to hold an entire zone on their own, but the ability to stall and delay them for quick and appropriate reinforcements, capable of rapid mobilization and shoring up where the front is weakest, or possibly even taking them out in pincer or flank attacks.

If we can, surely some of these people own cars, and those would be most useful.
>>
>>35721332
-Overwhelming force: slow force, would force us to be reactive instead of proactive and the teams have almost free reign to do what they like while the PAGAN army flip flops between targets like a ping pong ball.

-Defense and Dispatch: 'when your enemy has a well-entrenched position held by many men, see that he stays there'
Prone to siege

-Zone Tactic: Jack of all trades, master of none
Spreading ones forces too thin is the death of every empire and will probably be the death of us

Overall, I like Defense and Dispatch best since it has the best of both and the inevitable siege will tie up a chunk of Mae's forces.

We'll be sure to arm the defending groups with whatever possible defenses we can spare them.

Mass Field and Ecto-Shield Generators to create impenetrable, or very hard to breech walls and chokepoints.

Teams without friendly psykers could be provided PKE disruptors and Ectoplasm Interference Oscillators and to slow down ghosts and give the youkai major headaches.

Strike Teams should have cars or some mode of fast transport if possible, and be trained to use capture streams to move large debris or other cars out of the streets.

>>35721564
The playing it safe option only counts when there's a clear difference in risk. In this case the risk is high all around, now we need the (hopefully) playing it smart option.
>>
>>35721564
No, that's the "playing it smart" option. Overwhelming Single Force is the "safe" option, and "Zone Tactic" is the safe option.

Defense & Dispatch is really our only hope. We have too large of an area to cover, and we can't go 1vs1 with each of their teams, so we need to be able to focus fire. Either they come to us and we meet them strength to strength, or we counter-punch them hard when they hold an objective.

>>35721332
I would like to add that we need a high-mobility harassment unit as well, in addition to this. Something that can strike behind their lines, hit hard and vanish. An emphasis on disrupting them, not getting caught in prolonged fights. Hit targets of opportunity and fade away.
>>
>>35721485
I meant that when I saw Defence and Dispatch my brain went, do this, we can have the Pagan guys be rookies.
>>
>>35721574
"Defense and Dispatch." You say.

"Alright." Rei nods. "And then I guess that takes care of base defense as well."

"What? Why?" Star asks.

"Well, we're going to be STARTING with a defensive zone that we know we can hold, right?" Rei says. "We start here, and then widen our control."

"It still means that there's going to be a lot of havoc." Akira says. "But I guess it can't be helped."

"I'll leave my elites here to guard the containment unit." Rei says.

"Great!" Rini says. "And my people, and the other yokai, will hide up in the sanctuary until this all bows over." She grins. "I hope Ikki survives this...I want to rub it in her face!"

"Actually." You say holding up a hand. "I've got a Plan B for P-COC. It involves using your people Rini. It'll be before the Conjunction, like tomorrow, so you won't be in any combat."

"But still at risk...right?" Rini says.

You sigh and nod. "I won't lie. There's a risk."

Rini purses her lips and drums her fingers and thumps her foot as she ponders her response.

Also I hope we don't leave out plan C. Selecting some of the less dangerous or untrustworthy ghosts from our containment unit and promising them freedom in a later date in exchange for their service, binding them with an unbreakable oath.

We could use some penal divisions to bolster our strength.
>>
>>35721688
Bicycles, or even better, scooters and mopeds.
Because motorcycles require a license, but motorized scooters don't.
And they're faster and can carry more than a bicycle, yet retain a bike's inherent mobility and ability to take advantage of the narrow Tokyo side streets.
>>
>>35721716
Huh, that's a pretty good idea, but do we have the time and resources to conduct interviews?
>>
>>35721742
It's worth a shot. We do a background check from our database, select them and their frequency for extraction from the containment unit, interview them in a glass Ecto-Box like the kind used on slimer, and then swear the oath.

Even just 10 or 5 would be useful.
>>
>>35721688
Bottlenecks, at known positions, that can easily be turned into traps.

no, we need some crazy fuckers on bicycles and rollerblades with neon day-glow equipment to go stir up a ruckus and make noise. Keep the strike teams on the defensive.

>>35721671
Can we do this?
>>
>>35721793
>Bottlenecks, at known positions, that can easily be turned into traps.
Yup. just like >>35721594

If any of the teams defending have even one proton pack, they could even create bottlenecks or barricades using the capture stream to singlehandedly lift heavy objects like cars, dumpsters, or building rubble.
>>
>>35721677
Newcom rookies aren't that bad
>>
>>35721820
Maybe as emergency fall-back positions? But it's risky, if they can intercept us along the way then OUR forces are the ones who are trapped.
>>
>>35721843
That's where it likely boils down to who is the better tactician and the better mind, everyone will be trying to intercept everyone, to decieve, to outflank or outmaneuver, to trick the enemy into attacking where they want them to be.

It boils down to training and leadership at that point.
>>
>>35721882
>who is the better tactician and the better mind
Mae is. She's also the better mage, and likely even the better physical combatant.Perhaps even the better marksman. Our victory will hinge on her forgetting to give her all.
>>
>>35721779
But if we had that, wouldn't we have done that to get Sachiko and Yurei out?

I don't think we have the time, or the resources, to do it.

>>35721793
>>35721725
>proton pack-equipped Vespa's and Honda's
>>
>>35721882
Also an issue is our enemy will likely have great communication superiority, everything from magic scrying, to telepathy, to ghosts whisping this way and that delivering messages.

I hope that at least we have a significant amount of psykers and psychics to match.

>>35721906
I meant more on the small scale level between our forces, squad leaders and "officers", but that too.
>>
>>35721882
Yeah, let's not risk it then.

Let's go all Guerrilla on them instead. Remember, our goal is to disrupt, not destroy.
>>
>>35721913
Because neither Saichiko nor Yurei were put in the containment unit the proper way, hell Saichiko isn't even meant to be in there.

Central has been able to extract certain ghosts at will.

>>35721926
What, you're proposing we don't do the defense and dispatch tactic?
>>
>>35721701
Rini bites her lip and then nods. "Fine. But I'm NOT paying this week's protection rent!"

"Done." You say. "Okay. We'll talk about that plan later. It involves seduction, Kali lying a lot, and...well...I guess a depressingly large amount of these plans end in fire. Don't they?"

"Sounds about right for Ghostbusters." Sachiko says.

"Which leaves Oiwa." Star says. "So...I guess the three of us drive to the Tokyo Tower, present her with the pardon, tell her that Rei will start the PAGAN campaign to restore her face...and pray that she takes us up on our deal."

"And if she doesn't?" Akira asks.

"Like you have to ask?" Star says as she crosses her fingers.

"You guys are forgetting something." You say. "Mae will be there. I don't think she's going to let someone make a counter-deal to her own plea to 'Purge Japan.' We need a plan."

"What plan? We fight our way through Mae, and then we get to Oiwa." Akira says.

"She'd wipe the floor with us...maybe YOU might be okay with that...actually...that's not a bad idea." Star says. "We let Akira go nuts fighting Mae and we sneak past and get to Oiwa."

"So I'm the bait?!" Akira says. "I am...surprisingly less upset about that than I'd thought I'd be...but if it's just me...I'm not sure how long she'd be willing to 'play' with me."

"I know this may not be a great idea." Rei says. "But what if, instead of you four going to talk to Oiwa, what if me and my elites went?"

"Hmm?" You ask.

"After Sato and I solve the Fire problem, we hook up with you guys, who are taking on whatever else you want...and then we go to the Tower." Rei says. "You four face Mae, and my team will talk to Oiwa."

"Yeah, but that has you up against a Class 9...and you're just well trained rookies." Sato says. "She'd kill you."

Rei shrugs. "If the plan works, we'll be fine. If not...I think even we can figure out how to cross the streams."

>>
>>35721906
Her overconfidence is her weakness.
>>
>>35721926
But Guerilla warfare is all about outmaneuvering your enemy
>>
>>35721952
Hm. Can you guys think of any specific reason Oiwa would listen to us or any of the other ghostbusters more than Rei?
>>
>>35721952
I think Rei has a point.
She's a part of the Imperial Family, no matter how tenuous the link, and so an Imperial Pardon would have more weight coming from her.
She is also the type of person that Oiwa is more likely to listen to, someone who is not a hypocrite and who prefers the traditional ways.
>>
>>35721952

"I don't like the idea of putting other people in the way of a Class 9." Akira says. "We don't have to even beat Mae. Just knock her silly, which I think the four of us can do. Then we go to Oiwa, convince her to move on...and then go beat the other half out of the kitsune."

"She's a nine-tailed kitsune." Star says. "That'll be a lot of half. Anyway, she's arrogant and a bully. If she thinks she's just 'playing' with one or two idiot Ghostbusters, she might be distracted long enough. Then, yeah, we unleash the pain once Oiwa is gone. You know how these showy megalomaniacal types are. She'll be making speeches, and toying with you, and showing how useless our tech is...just act like you're a hotheaded idiot who's in over his head...shouldn't be TOO hard."

> We're going to be facing Mae one way or another. Might as well go in head first, we're Ghostbusters. We don't do things by halves, we don't take the 'safe' option, we just DO stuff. We go for broke and full attack.

> The bait plan is the better idea. It plays to Mae's weaknesses, and it gives us a little leeway. It's the best plan that we can get.

> Rei and her people should talk to Oiwa. We'll handle Mae. Oiwa isn't an unthinking, unfeeling, ghost. She's a hurt being, and can be reasoned with. Mae's a psycho monster. We need to give it all against her and not be worried about a timer.

>>
....huh, that's a point, even if you do get your asses kicked you can introduce the ghosts to a big fuck you by crossing the streams.
>>
>>35721946
No, Defense & Dispatch w/ guerrilla strike units that can bounce around.

You think Americans would understand that kind of warfare better after getting BTFO by it for the last 50 years.
>>
>>35722021
> Rei and her people should talk to Oiwa. We'll handle Mae. Oiwa isn't an unthinking, unfeeling, ghost. She's a hurt being, and can be reasoned with. Mae's a psycho monster. We need to give it all against her and not be worried about a timer.

I think we should do this one.
>>
>>35721952
>"If the plan works, we'll be fine. If not...I think even we can figure out how to cross the streams."
It's a matter of simply shutting off the Cross Stream Governors. You try to cross the streams with them on, and you'll get a nasty explosion and knocked off your feet, but nothing world ending (literally)

>>35722024
You don't ever cross the streams in this universe buster. It's got to be another one, or it won't be pretty for anyone or anything in THIS dimension.

Just ask the non-existent Gozer dimension.
>>
>>35722021
>> Rei and her people should talk to Oiwa. We'll handle Mae. Oiwa isn't an unthinking, unfeeling, ghost. She's a hurt being, and can be reasoned with. Mae's a psycho monster. We need to give it all against her and not be worried about a timer.

I am scared of reasonable plans. But we can even use that, "You've convinced us that you're hurt, and that you have your side of the story and it's more valid. If we can be convinced, so can other people. Mae wants to keep Japan in the dark, but we're willing to have you come forward with us into the light" or some shit.
>>
>>35722021
How about we have Rei + Daisuke talk to Oiwa, with the other three with support try to distract Mae in some way.
>>
>>35722021
>Rei and her people should talk to Oiwa. We'll handle Mae. Oiwa isn't an unthinking, unfeeling, ghost. She's a hurt being, and can be reasoned with. Mae's a psycho monster. We need to give it all against her and not be worried about a timer.
I honestly think that Rei is a better person to talk to Oiwa than us.
>>
>>35722030
But that's exactly what I am saying and what's being proposed. Defense teams heavily entrenched with defenses, while fast moving strike teams move around to provide supprot where it's needed most.
>>
>>35722052
This seems like the best plan.
>>
>>35722021
> The bait plan is the better idea. It plays to Mae's weaknesses, and it gives us a little leeway. It's the best plan that we can get.
I think we should be the ones to talk to Oiwa. She/her reflection came to us so she expects to see us
>>
>>35722052
I really don't think we should talk to Oiwa. She hates hypocrites and people who spit on tradition, and that is our defining characteristics.

I also don't think Akira or Sato would do a good job either. Maybe Star?
>>
>>35722021
>The bait plan is the better idea. It plays to Mae's weaknesses, and it gives us a little leeway. It's the best plan that we can get.
Having PAGAN talk to Oiwa is just asking for them to be dead or dying when we get there.
>>
>>35722089
Damnit that's true. I'd like to get some advice from our allies on this one. Like is Oiwa expecting us to speak to her, vs aren't we the kind of people Oiwa despises?
>>
>>35722106
Well look, just from a storytelling perspective, talking about a plan guarantees it to fail, also I'm pretty sure Star might be dropping some death flags due to not having anything else going on.
>>
>>35722021
One thing we need to remember is that kitsune with the hook is well aware of Mae's massive character flaws. It's possible that she might be stationed at the tower specifically to make sure Mae doesn't bungle everything, so any plans that hinge on Mae's foolishness might be flawed.
>>
>>35722021
We need a write-in for this one probably, but I can't really think of any major things that we've missed.
>>
>>35722175
Oh, right, that one Kitsune.
She's read the Evil Overlord List.
She's a bigger danger than Mae herself, because she's actually genre-savvy.

We should do what we can to capture her and take her out of the picture as soon as we can.
>>
>>35722213
I wish we could count on the good old "gets so bitter about Mae constantly disregarding her advice that she changes sides out of pure spite" but she might be smart enough to even realize that THAT'S a cliche in and of itself, and avoid it.
>>
>>35722057
Ah, I thought they would be based out of the defensive zones. I want teams that can work without co-ordination or communication, just in case we lose those two things. So we have the defensive force, the strike forces that sally out to destroy specific objectives, and then the skirmishers out in the back running around and confusing the enemy while feeding back info & making attacks of opportunity.

Make sure they destroy any radio equipment if they're captured/killed.
>>
Here's a terrible thought. What if Mae has another Kyuubi on her side? Is there any list of how many are in existence?
>>
>>35722268
Eh, it depends what we can buy her off with. Pretty sure she hates us for taking her hand. Saving her life? Doesn't really count.

Seduce the kitsune! We've defeated her AND saved her, imagine what the babies would be like! We also know how to please a fox woman, yah?
>>
>>35722289
So, this is probably the biggest decision of the evening. I'm seeing a split between the 'Let Rei talk' plan, the 'Bait Distraction' plan, and a write in plan that has all of the Proton Pack trained people assault Mae...except for Rei and Daisuke, who go to talk to Oiwa.

All three plans are good. Some rely on luck more than others.

Right now, I think the 'Let Rei handle it' plan has a one vote lead. Does anyone want to change votes, add their own, or come up with a new write in?
>>
>>35722287
> I want teams that can work without co-ordination or communication
That's what worries me too. The enemy has all sorts of options available to them from telepathy to scrying to ghosts flying around delivering messages.

I do hope some of our teams are equipped with Psykers who trained themselves to communicate with each other.
>>
>>35722325
Hmm, looking deeper into the issue right now, this choice ought to take just a bit more time since this essentially will write the rest of quest to the end.

Just so we're clear, you're saying that all three plans are viable.
Some are more dice based, but the others will be more dependent on correct word choice.

So it's a question of whether we put our trust in the dice gods, or trust in our ability to find the right thing to say?
>>
>>35722369
After the incident two threads ago with finding proper word choice, I would petition an appeal to the gods.

Let Rei Talk, the ghostbusters BELONG in an end boss fight scene.
>>
>>35722410
We really do. Let the daughter of the son of heaven speak to Oiwa, we belong kicking the ass of an evil villain.
>>
>>35722325
I'm torn between letting something so important be completely out of our hands, versus whether or not this is even something we should butt our heads into.

Like if we do want to talk to Oiwa personally, we should probably start coming up with what to say now.
>>
>>35722325
If Oiwa doesn't consider a pardon from the Imperial Family "restoring her face", is Rei's squad capable of turning "this chick" into "toast"?
>>
>>35722501
I doubt it. But honestly? I kind of doubt we are either. Like how many times have the ghostbusters taken out god-level threats in a straight-up fight, without any counter-rituals or tricks?
>>
>>35722534
Counter rituals or excessive amounts of power are really the only way to fight gods.
>>
>>35722434
Okay, it looks like most people want to have the big showdown be with Mae, and to let the scion of the Emperor ask forgiveness and try to fix the mess that her ancestor made.

This is not a bad plan. Rei has a chance of succeeding. You just have to make sure that Mae doesn't interrupt, and that there aren't any surprises. (Evil GM Smile at that)

This is my third confirmation. (Saying yes, three times!) Since this will be how the finale plays out. Are you okay with this plan?
>>
>>35722570
We're the exorcists, in the stories our job is to take down the demons and the foxes.

>>
"Okay." You say. "We'll be helping as we can. Then we'll regroup with Rei and Sato. Then we'll all go to the tower." You nod at your partners. "We'll take on Tamamo-no-Mae, and Rei and her crew can go in and present Oiwa with our deal.

"Best case scenario, Oiwa passes on, Mae gets taken down, and the Kami return."

"And the worst?" Rini asks.

You take a deep sigh. "Worst is we all die. However...if it looks like Oiwa has...refused the deal. Then I think if we do a four pack overload, tied into a Ghost Trap..."

Sato nods. "That would be probably enough to take out Oiwa...or knock her down long enough for the kami to return."

"How much of Tokyo would be destroyed?" Sachiko asks.

"Most of it. I think some of Nerima ward would be left okay." Sato says. "But it's that, or all of Japan...and maybe even worse."

"Heh...I just realized something very dark and very funny." Rei says. "If this works...then nuclear technology developed in America will have saved a city in Japan."

You all let out a dark chuckle. Then pause as your group looks at the map and all of the figurines on it.

"A lot of stuff has to go right." Akira says.

"We'll make it go right." Sato says. "We're the Ghostbusters."

"Hey, think about this...maybe one of the other branches will fail in their preventing their own apocalypse..." Sana says. "Then it won't really matter if we fail or not!"

"Very comforting. Thank you." You say.

"Well, we can always have Yurei make us all sing 'One Day More,' from 'Les Miserables' if you want inspiring." Akira says.

You see Yurei flash you a thumbs up.

"You do that," Sachiko warns. "And I'll end the world right here, right now!"

"Get in line!" Reika says, looking horrified.
