He raises an interested eyebrow, glancing longingly at the staircase.

That's not really the kind of thing you can argue.
The trip home is brisk, a rapid pace racing against the coming night. Dad is breathing hard by the time you stand beneath your tree's boughs. He might be good at running, but he certainly doesn't have the stamina of a monster.

Sheszka blurs up the ladder, while your father drags himself a rung at a time. Jin neatly skips off your back, standing before with a serious face, wings spread wide. You give her a smile, scooping her up and heading up the tree yourself. Your family is waiting above.

Sara has already cracked a book, piling the extras around her. All six eyes flick side to side, rapidly fluttering down each page, absorbing as fast as she can.

You get started on dinner, eating your fill as the stack of food disappears before you. Your friends both snatch an extra piece as it dwindles, offering them towards you with hope in their eyes. Which is completely unnecessary, to be honest. You'd be more worried if you couldn't eat them.

Muscles work on a simple pulling-based system.
If our muscles were instead, say, hydraulic springs able to extend or retract, the musculature system would pretty much be exactly the same but with much greater strength.
