>several minutes late!

The meal before you is simple but not entirely objectionable. A basket lined with slices of dark bread sits at the center of the table accompanied by a small assortment of sandwich meats all of which you're fairly certain did not come out of a can. Of course you haven't even been at sea for an entire day yet so that kind of thing isn't an issue. Yet.

All of your girls have been gathered for the meal prepared by Nina and May, including your new involuntary recruit, the now-former pirate Lisa. Being a new arrival combined with the somewhat embarrassing outfit you've forced her to wear to assert your authority and not at all because you have sadistic tendencies serves to ensure that she is the center of the attention for the entire meal. Both Nadine and May deliver an onslaught of questions, all of which Lisa grumpily deflects.

Camilla on the other hand seems completely indifferent to the newcomer with her focus centered on the food on the table and the act of consuming it, while your sister Nina has huddled up close to you, casting occasional shy glances about the room. Though she is a new arrival as well, having been discovered stowed away in your storeroom just recently, she has evaded all curiosity thanks in large part to Lisa and her new outfit.

You are the Loli Talker, aka Nee-chan, a specialist dealing in bringing unreasonable lolis to reason. Currently you are on a very peculiar job, having been hired for unclear reasons by some eccentric fat cat with more money than he knows what to do with to guide a ship across the Pacific from the United States to Japan aided only by a tiny crew of equally small girls. Most recently you subdued and recruited the pirate girl, Lisa, when she was abandoned by her own girls in an assault on your ship. And after this brief respite you intend to...

Lisa catches you mid-thought, finally finding a way to escape the barrage of questions. "So what's the plan, Cap'n?"

Also, I thought Nee-chan had "no harm" as her policy. Isn't she harming Lisa?

While I agree Lisa doesn't deserve the cosplay outfit, I dunno how much harm it's doing.
>>
>>35608500
Lisa is not a Loli though, so she isn't part of her job.
>>
>>35608500
Well she's not harming her physically, but forcing someone to wear an embarrassing outfit is a little mean. Not as much when they tried to kill you of course, but there it is.

Also Lisa is her age and not a child, so she's fair game as much as any ordinary person would be.

Lastly, the 'no harm' policy is one that can be waived under extreme circumstances, such as 'she tried to kill you.'

Lisa mentioned a treasure, and your contract doesn't really have a time limit. so why the hell not, it's time for a treasure hunt! Especially now that you have the owner sitting right here it should be a breeze. Now to carefully extract the information without her noticing. "I think you mentioned a treasure when we talked earlier?" Smooth.

Lisa has no chance to respond before May has already stood up form the table, forgetting the meal entirely. "TREASURE? THERE'S A TREASURE?" She jumps straight across the table in a single leap, a feat you note in the back of your head to actually be somewhat impressive, landing in your lap and grabbing your shoulders. "Can we go hunt the treasure, Captain? Can we please please please?" The excited girl is violently shaking your shoulders now.

"That's why I was asking Lisa about-" May immediately jumps from you and over to Lisa, now receiving the same treatment you were receiving just before. "You know where the treasure is? Can you tell us? We need to find the treasure! Please please please?" Lisa does not appear to be amused by her antics. "It's mine. Why would I tell you how to find it?" May's eyes grow wide at this and she is finally left wordless.

Behind her, Camilla decides to break her silence and weigh in. "It's probably a trap anyway. Just like the last place." Finally, May turns her face to you, her eyes pleading you for help.

>Tell Lisa she can stop wearing the outfit if she helps you find the treasure.

You put aside Camilla's concern for the moment, though she may very well have a point. You should probably be careful not to walk into any traps. After all, this girl isn't exactly fond of you. However a quick glance in her direction puts a brilliant thought in your head and a smile that you really should be suppressing. "You know, Lisa... If you help us, you wouldn't have to wear that outfit anymore."

She seems to be considering the bargain carefully, unsure which is worth more to her. You push a little harder. "Otherwise, I happen to have this ADORABLE outfit." She grimaces. "This one has lace!" And there's that wonderful groan she gave you earlier. This girl is going to be so much fun!

"Fine! Whatever! At least those traitors won't get it then! Just show me your maps and I'll lead you there." She stands up from the table, scraping the still attached May off of her. "The outfit comes off now, though."

A few minutes later, Lisa is back from the bathroom and in her usual clothes. You send Nadine with her to the bridge seeing as she's in charge of the maps. Now you just have to hope that Lisa can work with you've got up there. May departs the table with a cheerful hum, the prospect of a treasure hunt lifting her spirits ever higher. Camilla leaves you with just a few words before getting back to work. "This is a bad idea."

As you finish up the last of what's left on your plate, Nina tugs gently on your sleeve. "Nee-chan, are you sure it's safe?" Oh right, just a few minutes before the lunch you had preached to her about safety. Awkward. You'll have to maneuver out of this hypocrisy somehow.

So shortly after having scolded her for her carelessness, you can hardly disregard her concerns about this. They're perfectly valid after all. It might not be safe, though that could be said for a lot of the things you do. You put on a determined face. "Don't worry, it'll be okay! I'm here, and you know I would never let anything happen to you or the others, right?"

Your efforts earn you nothing more than a timid nod. That makes sense, she knows you after all. She knows she has had to drag you out of trouble several times even though you're the one trying to take care of her! You gently pat your sisters head. "And... now that you're here to help, that just means it's twice as safe. You'll help me, won't you?"

At this she looks more relieved, smiling up at you. "Okay Nee-chan, but promise to super careful okay?" You laugh, and pull her in for a hug. As if you're ever careful! But at least this way she's distracted and you won't have to lie.

A moment later, Lisa arrives back in the room. "It's done. The girl already had the place on her map, no idea how." Is she talking about THAT map? Maybe it isn't nonsense after all? Or maybe Lisa just wants you to believe that so she can laugh at you? Either way, the clear solution is to just play it cool. "Good, how far is it?"

"With this speed, probably an hour or two."

With the course apparently set and everyone doing things they're probably supposed to, you're left alone in the kitchen with your sister and a bunch of dirty dishes. She gives you a knowing look. You respond in kind and you both get up, setting about the task that you've repeated together so many times before. Cleaning dirty dishes isn't really work suitable for a captain but the nostalgic feeling leaves you in a peaceful state. You don't even talk, words are completely unnecessary. The only important thing is the feeling that you're back at home with your sister and without worries.

It is a feeling you're fairly certain is mutual between the two of you. It's also a feeling that is abruptly ended when you hear screams from up on the deck and May bursts into the room. "Captain! There's a- There's a- M-m-monster!" A monster could mean anything coming from these girls so you quickly run up top for a look. And just as quickly back down again. "Nina, you stay down here. May, find the others and get them down here too, quick!" Swallowing her fear like the brave little girl she is, she gives you a salute and affirmative and sets about her task.

As you set back to the stairs, Nina tugs your sleeve. "Nee-chan, will you be o-" You cut her off. "Stay down here until I come to get you." She lets go of you, sensing just how serious you are.

Striding back upstairs you're passed by May dragging Nadine and Camilla with each hand. Again, impressively quick. With determination in your steps you make your way down to the front end of the ship to face the monster. Waves crash about as it rises from the ocean, revealing its face. Its gaze falls upon you. "Mortal known as the Loli Talker, I have come for you."

You let out a sigh. You remember this guy, way back from a job you helped Andrea out with. Apparently he remembered you too. Tulu or something weird like that. These guys are called old ones or something like that. What's worse is they have this standing arrangement with Andrea where they can call upon her services at any time in exchange for not enslaving mankind, and since she recruited you that means you can't even charge him!

However, he is kind of scaring your girls with that whole 'sanity breaking just by looking at him' thing. You can't have that. You give him a stern look. "You're scaring my girls, cut that out and I'll help you." He is visibly taken aback by this. "That is not the terms of the-" You cut him off. "Don't care. I'm responsible for them, so cut it out before I have a crew of rambling zombies." He looks you straight in the eye. You stare back at him. And he blinks. "Very well, Loli Talker, for my daughter's sake I will fullfill your request."

And he vanishes.

A young girl stands before you, dressed in a frilly white dress, a confused look marked acress her face. She looks up at you. "Is this form acceptable?" You squeal in delight as you ruffle her hair and pinch her cheeks.

She does not approve. "No! Stop touching me! I am the Terror of the Deep! I am the High Priest of the Old Ones!" You pick the girl off the floor, pushing her into a tight embrace. "Don't be like that, Tulu! You know you love it, deep down!" She does not respond with anything other than a mean glare. Maybe you should get to business.

You sit yourself down against the nearest wall, Tulu placed firmly in your lap, her resistance notably lessened already. "Now, tell me what the problem is with your daughter." Tulu draws a long sigh, taking a few moments to consider her words. "I don't know. She just won't leave her room at all, she won't talk to me, nothing! I don't understand!"

You remember the girl he's talking about. She's not really Tulu's daughter, she's adopted. It makes sense that Tulu might have trouble understanding a human girl. But you'll need more info to determine what the problem is.

The girl in question is about eight years if you remember correctly. Definitely had a name too, but you forgot. Not even one of the tricky ages! The wisdom of the Old Ones in accepting that deal with Andrea is becoming very apparent. You're going to have this guy calling you all the time if this keeps up!

"That could mean a lot of things, Tulu. Maybe she's bored down there? What does she usually do for fun?" Tulu takes a while to answer, apparently confused by your question. "Fun. Entertainment. A means of passing time? Ah! Toys and such, correct? She has many in her room, a great collection spanning the entirety of your short history. I do not think that is the problem."

So she has plenty of toys, huh? Well, maybe she has the toys but nobody to play with. "Then, maybe she's lonely. Does she have anyone to play with?" The response is quick this time. "No. We do not 'play'."

"Well that's probably it, then! Children need someone to play with, not just fancy toys! You should get her someone to play with!"

Tulu moves to stand back up. "Very well, then I will take y-" Realizing your mistake you quickly interrupt the thought. "Or, you could play with her yourself! Isn't that why you adopted the girl in the first place?" Tulu looks you straight in the eyes, his reply as sincere as any you ever heard. "I do not understand."

You let out a sigh. For a creature supposedly spanning several dimensions past yours he's really dense. "Look, just talk to her. Tell her you'd like to play with her, ask her what she would like to do. She's bound to have tons of ideas!" Tulu gives you a slight nod, then turns away to leave back into the ocean. "Very well, Loli Talker. I will adhere to your counsel.

Before Tulu can do that however, an idea springs into your mind. "Wait!" As she turns to listen you can't help but grin widely. "It might also help if you played with her like that..." Tulu simply nods again. "Understood." A quick leap, a splash, and Tulu is gone. Let's hope your advice lasts him at least a month!

As you make your way back to the kitchen where the girls are hiding, a voice calls out from inside the bridge. Lisa's. "Was that seriously...? Did you just...? Seriously?" Hiding under a table, her face is painted with fear and her body visibly trembling. She wasn't supposed to look at him.

Slowly, carefully, you make your way over to the frightened girl. You know how these guys affect ordinary people, that's why you wanted the girls out of the way in the first place. But she was here, and she looked. At least she still seems sane, she'll probably get away with the occasional nightmare if you help her out now.

Lisa watches you intently as you get down on all four and crawl over to her side. She recoils slightly as you put your arm around her before wrapping herself around your neck with her face firmly pressed into your shoulder. Tears flow freely as she sobs uncontrollably while you whisper soothing words in her ears, promising everything will be just fine and that the trouble is gone now. For a moment if amuses you to see the tough girl acting just like all the other girls you take care of. Then you remember that it isn't funny at all.

Gently you lift her head from your shoulder to give her a comforting smile. "Seriously, it's okay. You're with me and I'll deal with all the bad monsters!" She barely manages to push out a word between the sobbing. "How?" You smile cockily at her as you take her hand to lead her back out from under the table. "I'm just that awesome. Don't forget that!" You can't quite tell if her incredulous look is born of awe or just plain confusion. Either way, she seems to be mostly back to her senses so that'll do for now.

After collecting the girls from their hiding place, all seemingly unscarred by the event, you send them back to work and you're quickly back on course. Lisa on the other hand is clearly having trouble focusing so you tell her to go claim one of the beds and take a rest. She nods weakly as she whimpers a response. "Thanks." After making sure everyone is doing something you decide you may as well head down as well, she might feel safer if you're nearby.

About an hour passes like that, Lisa having fallen asleep within the first few minutes and occasionally tossing about in her sleep. A gentle knock on the open door alerts you to May's arrival. Seeing Lisa asleep she takes a moment to calm herself from the excited state she's in, careful not to wake the poor girl. "We found the place, Captain. Come see!"

The sight is not quite what Nadine's map would have let you to believe. The island isn't so much an island as much as it's a rock. A rock in the shape of a skull poking above the water around the level of its eyes, the kind of island you'd put a pirate port or an evil genius' lair in. Slowing your pace, Nadine carefully guides the ship through the left eye socket. Inside you find a small landing. From the landing, two separate tunnels lead further inside.

Looks like you have a choice to make, and little information to base it on.

The girl had a rough time earlier, but she's the one who hid the treasure here so she'd know the way. And she'd know about any traps. You really do need her for this. And even though May's jumping and yelling indicate otherwise, you're not actually in a hurry. You instruct Nadine to bring you back outside and anchor down, give Lisa and everyone else a chance to rest up before you head off to hunt treasure. While clearly disappointed, May does not voice any objections to your decision. That wouldn't be like her, after all.

AS it turns out, the matter of bunks had never actually been resolved and Lisa ended up getting first choice despite being the latest to arrive on the ship, placing herself in the first bed to the left, bottom bunk. You unwittingly picked second, claiming the bed next to hers to watch over her earlier. A short argument that you had to forcibly drag back outside settles the dispute relatively easily. As it turns out, none of the girls want a bottom bunk but seeing as you have plenty of beds that wasn't an issue.

Camilla claims the bed above Lisa with May settling in the bed opposite of theirs. Nina of course demanded the bed above yours, leaving Nadine opposite of you. Now you just have a bunch of unclaimed bottom bunks for no particular reason. Thank god you don't have OCD or anything like that.
>>
>>35612577
A small hour passes in relative silence as the girls quickly slip into a nap. You do not, instead continuing your watch over Lisa, though no longer just for her sake. Something feels off about that girl, but you can't quite seem to place it. Maybe it's nothing, but you can't help but wonder. Unfortunately, that curiosity leads to her waking up to you staring at her, producing a severe blush on her face. "W-w-why are you staring at me?"

What do you tell her?

>You were just making sure she was alright!
>You just zoned out while thinking!

"Sorry, wanted to make sure you were alright, but then... I don't know, it just feels like something is off, but I can't place it? You don't have a condition or something, do you?" She narrows her eyes at you. "Don't worry, I won't tell anyone! I just want to make sure you don't get in trouble because of something I didn't know about."

She doesn't answer, instead sitting upright and looking herself over. Disappointed, you push for an answer. "You know I don't mean any harm, right?" She turns, giving you a dead cold stare. "It's not your business." Looks like she really doesn't want you pushing that issue, so you shift the topic instead.

"We found the island. We need you to show the way." She nods an affirmative, and you set about waking up all of the girls and gathering them on the deck. You'll have to decide who to bring on your landing party.

Choose who to bring. You probably should leave at least one person behind.

Let's ask Nina to take care of Camilla and maybe try to be her friend then. But, warn her that Camilla is...difficult.
>>
>>35612968
You pull your sister aside to whisper to her. "I want you to stay here with Camilla, try to make friends with her, okay? I don't think she gets along with the others." She looks relieved not to be going. She may be brave, but she was never as adventurous as you. You leave the general order with the rest and set ashore with your party. "Nina and Camilla, stay here. If we're not back in 15 minutes, go look for us." They both nod, Camilla clearly expressing her pleasure with not having to 'walk into a stupid trap again.'

Nadine and May follow you and Camilla unto the landing with excitement, though the latter far exceeding the former in that regard. Now you just need to know the way. You glance over to Lisa and she understands your intention.

You see no real differences between the two tunnels, so it all comes down to whether or not you trust Lisa on this. Pulling out a convenient flashlight, you decide to head down the -----------

You form the party up in a line matching the narrow tunnel. Yourself first with Lisa behind you, Nadine and May taking the rear. Mimicing you, May pulls a flashlight from her left sleeve. You can't help being impressed with her yet again. She's almost as well prepared as you! Less than a minute of walking down the tunnel leads you to a large circular room. Shining your light across the room, you see it. Dead center of the room stands a large treasure chest.

Lisa stands clear of the opening behind you, making way for the excited May who rushes into the room with a giggle. "Treasure!" Quickly grabbing hold of the lid she forces the chest open and...

An oversized boxing glove on a spring smacks her in the face. "Ow!" Lisa bursts into laughter beside you, though the laugh is quickly killed by your glare. "Oh don't worry, it's basically an oversized pillow. She isn't hurt at all, it's just a toy!" She's right, May seems completely unharmed and has already jumped into the chest to search it. She cries out desperately from within. "There's nothing here!"

Lisa gives you a shrug, then points past the chest. "It's that way, that one is just there for... well, this."

"Is this your idea of fun, crushing the hopes of little girls?" She giggles in response. "Sure, why not? Sometimes it's good to remind them why they're not the ones in charge!" You take two long steps towards her, bringing you face to face with her. At least if she hadn't been taller than you, but it will have to do. She gulps nervously. You smile, wickedly. "Do you need reminding?"

She stammers half a response. "I... I... Sorry." You point over to May, now leaning over the side of the chest with a truly despaired grimace on her face apparently having missed your conversation. "Tell her, not me." You're rewarded with that groan that you're already growing to enjoy as Lisa slumps over to the girl and lifts her out of her box.

"I... sorry May, that was a bad joke. Come on, the real treasure is that way." Even from here you can feel May lighting up again. "There's a treasure after all? Yay! Come on everyone, let's go find the treasure!" Before you can object, she has already taken the front with Lisa behind her. Nadine merely shrugs at you as she waits for you to lead the way. "May doesn't hold grudges."

Another quick walk through the narrow tunnel, this one curving around to lead you back towards the landing, and you arrive in a second room similar to the first one. But May stays in her spot this time, instead looking to you for instructions.

You give Lisa a pre-emptive glare and she immediately crumbles under the pressure. "It's the real one this time, I swear! No more tricks!" You're still not sure if you believe her, so you take it upon yourself to open it rather than letting May suffer at the hands of this sadist again. The other sadist, not you.

The lid of the chest is surprisingly heavy, finding you barely able to lift it. Was the other this heavy too? May seemed to have no trouble opening the other at all. You prepare yourself for a second go at it and, with quite a bit of struggling, lift it fully open, revealing...

Gold coins. The chest is practically overflowing with them. Even Nadine is unable to help herself at the sight, light shining from her eyes as she squeals gleefully. Lisa on the other hand remains calm, walking up to the chest and picking one of the coins off the floor. She smiles to the both of them, perhaps even sincerely. "You haven't seen the best yet." Carefully she peels away the "gold" to reveal a coin of chocolate underneath, then tossing it over to May who proceeds to cheerfully assault the coin. Lisa picks up another coin to toss to Nadine who follows the example of her fellow loli.

Lisa then turns to you, still smiling. "That's the treasure. We should probably carry it, those two won't be much help."

>Carry the treasure with Lisa

>>

>>
>>35614642
You've got half a mind to let her carry the thing out of here on her own for that little trick, but ultimately you would just be wasting time. You give her a nod, but instead of moving to grab hold of the chest she walks to the end of the room opposite from where you entered, knocking on the wall seemingly at random. Or maybe there is and you don't see it. Regardless, the end result is a section of the wall swinging open like a door, revealing a short tunnel through which you can already see your ship. Seems there was a shortcut all along and she kept it from you!

You can't help feeling a little insulted. "Have I not been nice to you?" Her smile evaporates before your eyes. "Sorry. Honestly, I am! You're not so bad after all, it was just too much fun to resist! Come on, let's get the thing out of here."

It's not really news to you, but today you have definitely been reminded. Carrying things is not your strongest side. Your small frame, for which you no doubt have genetics to thank, always did leave you at a disadvantage in that regard even compared to the other girls. At least with younger girls you get to be the strong one but with Lisa, not so much. She ends up doing almost all of the lifting for you, though it doesn't seem to bother her too much. Bringing it up the ramp was easily the worst part and you had to ask the girls to help you push it all the way up. Chocolaty bribes go a long way with regard to that kind of thing.

Even the previously indifferent Camilla is overjoyed to see you return with the bountiful chest, joining May and Nadine in plundering its contents. You should stop them soon, but for now you feel they've earned a reward. Nina has a different reward in mind however, disregarding the chest to latch herself firmly around your waist to welcome you back. Lisa doesn't spare a moment after having set the chest down, making her way back down to the living area without a word.

A ruffle and a pat later, you peel your sister off of you, pointing to the chest she had been ignoring. "Go on, grab it before it's gone." With Lisa already gone, you'll have to turn elsewhere for help. "Nadine, May, help me get that chest down into the storage. No access without my permission, got it?" For a moment, their eyes seem to grow distant as they realize the immensity of the responsibility you just trusted them with. They look between each other, give you a simultaneous salute, and then grab hold of the chest without a word.

You wonder if this task is too great for them after all.

>Bonus Scene "Innocence"

Apologies for the wait!

You are Ayaka, 14 years old, also known as Nee-chan to your sister of 8 years, a 'nickname' she bestowed upon you after you explained to her (without permission) how that whole 'your mother isn't my mother' thing works, resulting in a sudden interest in Japanese things. Two years from now you will also be known as the Loli Talker, but tonight you are someone else. Tonight, by order of the evil queen you call your sister's mother your evening of practising your painting skills on unsuspecting trains has been cancelled and replaced with an evening of taking your sister to the local fair. It's apparently the last day before it packs up and moves on to wherever.

To say that she is excited would be an understatement of several magnitudes. All the way there she skips around you, cheerfully singing some song in Japanese that you don't recognize. About love and hope and girly stuff as far as you can tell. Probably rehearsed it off of some anime show, expecting you to be proud of her.

When you arrive at the fairgrounds, she grabs both of your hands as she stands on her toes looking up to you. "Where should we go first, Nee-chan?"

>You see a shooting game along the line of stalls. Something you may actually enjoy.

You feel a strong urge, probably originating from your American half, to shoot innocent animals with guns. Paper versions will have to do, you have a conscience after all. Your sister has already followed your eyes and spotted the object of your desire. "Can you win a prize for me, Nee-chan? Something cool like you!" Blatant flattery, but it warms you regardless. You smile to her. "Only the best for you, sis!"

The game is a simple one. You get a gun, ducks roll through the gallery, you shoot them with the gun. Nina backs off slightly to give you room, showing you her crossed fingers. You ready yourself, focusing only on the game.

Shooting is easy, right? You just point it where you want to hit and squeeze the trigger, that's all there is to it. The first duck appears and yep, that's actually all you have to do. Another duck appears, quickly becoming less of a duck as you have your way with it. Then two at the same time, each from their own end as if that would somehow make this game hard. It did not. A short while later the man at the stall ends the game, declaring a perfect score. He probably just didn't want you murdering any more of his paper ducks!

Regardless, you get to pick freely from any of the crummy prizes. You lift your sister off the ground to give her a clear view. "Which one would you like, sis?" She hesitates, overwhelmed by the choices. "Uhm, I dunno? Pick one for me, Nee-chan!"

Well, which one should you get her?

If you're honest, and in matters like this you usually are, there's only one worthwhile prize to be won here. The elephant. You let the man know as much, to which he frowns slightly before putting the fake smile back on and handing your prize over. To your sister. Right. You promised that, so it's hers. Maybe she'll let you borrow it later. She probably will. She flashes her teeth at you as she squeezes the plushy tightly. "Thanks Nee-chan! You're the best!"

The man begins some rambling nonsense about proving it was more than just luck, so you pick your sister back up before he can fill her head with his lies and set off to the next destination.

You did something you wanted, it's only fair to return the favor. Getting a little tired of carrying her around you set your sister back on the ground and she instead resorts to putting her iron grip around your hand. "Now, where would YOU like to go, sis?" She pretends to think for a moment. You know she decided the moment you entered the grounds. The music, the lights, and all in a gentle unchallenging package. Everything she could ever want.

"The carriesel!" You grin. "Carousel it is!"

Despite the busy crowd the carousel has no line and several empty seats for you. But will you...

You're going to hate this so much. It's so fucking embarrassing, but just this once you can probably bite down and suffer the pain for her sake. You know it's what she wants after all. You climb up first then reach down to help her up. The guy running the thing yells at you, sending a shock through your sis. "Only one per horse!"

You take a moment to filter the response you want to give him, remembering who you're with. "Come on man, do we really look like the thing can't carry us?" The man looks you up and down, a little longer than you feel he should considering your age, then concedes the point. "Fine, do as you like." Lifting your sister back up into your lap, her smile is instantly restored as her eyes fill with stars and wonder. There's just too much for her to look at, not enough time to appreciate all the lights and sounds.

So you stay for another round. The operator doesn't seem to care, there's plenty of rides anyway. Finally, she settles down and turns her attention to you. "Hey Nee-chan? Do you miss her? Your mom?"

"Let's talk about something more cheerful, hey? No reason to spoil the mood." She looks down at the colorful horse, disappointment weighing heavily on her voice. "I just wanted t-"
"I know."

You hold her tighter. "Don't worry about that stuff, sis. I love you, you know that. More than anyone else. You don't have to try so hard, okay?"

She looks up at you, neither smiling nor frowning. Simply listening.

"I'll never leave you."

Oh, and the thread is archived.

Thanks for running, a lot of fun as always.

>"I'll never leave you."
Ouch.

I'd be quite worried if I expected any lethality out of this. Saying "I'll never leave you" is a death flag for one of the pair.

Thats canceled out by the fact that she did actually leave her later.

Oh! I know what I should do! I'll tell you about some of the non-spoiler details about Episode 3.

I think I've mentioned that it will definitely be the final one already. It's intended to be the big finale, so it will probably be pretty short compared to episode 2 but more intense, more stuff happening more quickly.

Also, just as I changed the format of the quest between episode 1 and 2 from a slideshow of encounters where the characters were essentially puzzles into the more adventure-style format we have now, in episode 3 I will change the format to something pretty different again.

Oh, and episode 3 will introduce the concept of actually losing. It's the one where you either defeat the LBEG or she defeats you! Though I consider both outcomes to be pretty fun and cute, and some of you would probably even prefer the "bad end."

Lastly, episode 3 will of course try to make sense of all the things that may not make sense to you right now. I think I've left enough clues about what's going on that a dedicated reader could get a pretty good idea, but I have to spell it out entirely at some point so that will also be in episode 3.

More than once within the events shown in the quest! The question I'd wish for you to ask from a storyteller's perspective is if she meant it when she said it.
