Previously:
San Diego is wiped out by a tidal wave, a young man caught in the deluge as the city is erased by what some might consider the very wrath of god in a world with a sky of endless colors. Snatched from the brunt of the wave, the young man faces an inhuman creature of humanoid form that strikes out his eye to deliver onto him the gift of magic by means of the followers.

Praise be to Susej they say. These followers.

Selfish in his means of survival, a young man rallies with these people for his own safety as the government seeks to keep the truth of the world under wraps, that magic exists and that people like the followers are throwing it into chaos.

Sent on a mission to liberate people captured for conscription based on their awakening to magic, he journeys with others to meet with a woman planted for this very purpose, finding adversity on the way.

Having left a trail all too easy to follow, he's been captured and taken to the very place he'd been looking to gain access, though not exactly on his own terms...

Recently rescued by unknown allies, the young man takes on a new alias “Faust” to help him lay low.

You are Asher Faust, welcome to Over(human)Limit S2

Days pass as you go through a similar routine, waking up in the wood, being greeted by Emilia as she comes through the door. Sometimes XIX coming with her to give you blood and watch you work.
By your effort, the trees of this wood have returned to green, enchanted against flame and cold, and that had only been the first couple days. The blood of beasts is strong with magic, a single line of blood being all that's necessary it embed and strengthen the enchantment.
More would certainly make this last beyond just winter, yet the trees are many and the blood of beasts must be used sparingly. The wood is grateful, yet conflicted by the offerings.

During the nights, Fae dance in your dreams, curious as to what the man with the wooden arm is doing. You haven't much spoken with Faust either, and you've yet to see your sister again.

Emilia says that she's still working on some of the finer points of integrating the suits together, some kind of blockage of progress. It's been just about a week, but you're seeing a similar blockage in your own works. Even if you make the trees grow without faltering, even if they're resistant to the blade of an axe or a chainsaw. Who would protect their children? You will need to move on from here eventually. And even so these enchantments will eventually need to be restored. The power of blood is great, yet not infinite.

You meditate under a tree you feel that is particularly long-lived, its green leave standing against the chill of autumn even as the wind howls admirably to bring it down.

Searching your mind for an answer, it comes to you from the glimpses of your dreams. Fae. The old protectors.

Therein lies the same issue though. Eventually they will need to be restored.

Unless. They truly exist in this world...

Who would you ask for guidance in seeing this through?
>>

Because Asher's soul got cracked and the RB flowed into it. It's mostly in the part that used to be the Luci/pyromancy parts, but I figured the cyan Asher parts got some leaking into it too.

They already thought Asher was crazy. Remember, you're talking about the nigger that thought it was a good idea to join the crazy magic terrorists, organize a church slaughter at Pahrump, and work for Lucifer for a bit. Then there's the whole Rage Beast thing, which from everyone else's point of view, looks like he decided to just randomly summon a giant flaming death monster and start screaming at it in the middle of a 3-way fight between giant robots and wizards.

It's really funny. Back in the first couple threads Asher was the strongest in his little group of Emilia, Hunter, and him and he was all smug and happy about it.

Now he's the weakest of the three and Emilia's probably the strongest. She's got Expert Geo and 7 points unspent, so she's pretty close to hitting a master rank spell and potentially getting crazy gravity powers associated with it.

At the dawn of the world, God made many creatures before mankind. Some, like the angels that followed Lucifer, wanted to make their own abode and burst out of heaven, leaving the gates ajar.
The force was so great that many other beings fell from heaven with the rebellious angels and other various beings. When God became aware of what was happening, he shut those gates, forbidding traversal to and from heaven. The rebels made their home in hell, while those that had been caught in the tide settled upon earth, becoming the fairies.

You open your eyes to the astral, and a displeased Morgan waits for you, the lusterous green dress matching that of her eyes, a miasma of violet shadows hanging about her.
“Why are you here? Guiding me to something?” You say, of equivalent dismay. Her Unseelie of misfortune nearly killed Cora in Vegas. As much as you might feel a tinge of guilt, it's this bitch's fault.

“You seek the courts of the fae, yes?” She says, turning her head as a road of light framed by flourishing trees is presented before your astral walk. “As an Unseelie, I have little business with the Seelie, yet they are the ones you seek.”
As she turns back to you, she smiles, long canines glinting with the colors of the ether, “I will show you the way. They call you as they've noticed your work thus far.”

“How nice of them to notice.” You step forward, and without further delay, the two of you walk down the path. “What should I expect.”

“Many children, both young and old, so many catering to be summoned.”

“Children young and old?” You ask, but then you smile and hold up a hand, pausing her from answering, “Right, immortal fae. Forever young, yet old. Forever childish, yet mature.”

“Exactly. Even more so for the Seelie.”

“Are you going to leave if I make a deal with them?”
>>
>>35594688
The thing is, not branching out was never an option. Even if we had stayed pure Hydromancer, Ice and Steam would have stayed as separate spells, and we likely would have had to take Materia Firma to be effective at all, so we'd have been split between 3 or 4 spells then anyway. Right now, we're split between Summoning, Alchemy, and I guess Flora as our main 3 with the other prereq/misc spells all totaling up to cost about the same as a single Expert spell. So really Asher effectively has 4 spells; summoning and alchemy are two high-tier spells at medium ranks, the pile of prereqs/misc spells is like a low-tier power but high-tier diversity at a high rank, and flora is I guess a med-tier spell at a low rank.

The whole thing is kind of a clusterfuck, really.

Morgan purses her lips together, eyes fluttering them out into a smile, “Yes. I've got my own business to take care of. Other people are rediscovering Arthurian lore and the true king of England must make his return soon.”

“Your brother?”

“Our legend ends with his departure to Avalon for healing. During my life I had not the power to bring him back, then people turned me into a figure of evil. How they demonized women in my time.” She shakes her head at the memory.

You stare at her for a moment, “You lived?”

Morgan gives you a coy grin, her eyes turning ahead to a blinding light, “Come, we are almost there.”

As you pass through the threshold, you are greeted by a world of distinct smells. Loamy soil, flowers in full bloom, and thousands of colors coalescing into distinct and vibrant, solid forms.

"You can keep the beast." She whispers.
Yet when you turn around, Morgan is nowhere to be found. Calling out her name, yields no answer.

She was serious. Gone, she's left you. And so easily.
Perhaps you'll find her someday in England?

I'm kinda happy that she's gone even though she was probably my favorite character in the quest. Her powers really weren't suited to direct combat at all and if we're going to be turning into some kind of a plant hybrid thing, her healing magic wouldn't work on us anyway.
>>
>>35595215
And it was starting to look like her staying around for much longer would have just resulted in some bad shit happening.
>>
>>35595154
I'm not disagreeing, but the concern would be that we will continue to suck since we have no skills above adept. With luck, floramancy will be the last branch we make in spending our LIMIT.
>>
>>35595215
I didn't trust her at all, and she did as much harm for us as good, though I did like her.
>>
>>35595249
I kinda wanted to get Flora to Adept for the big boost that gives and then rush either Alchemy or Summoning to Master rank. Alchemy would get nukes and SCIENCE! matter that does crazy stuff, Summoning would let us summon crazy summons that do crazy summons stuff.

Leaning more towards wanting Alchemy, myself, but I'd be fine with summoning.
>>
>>35595323
Alchemy should be our focus, it improves all our other magic

“Hello?” You wander through the trees for some time, a surreal facsimile of the wood your real body sleeps in. Things can be heard moving in the verdant brush. “Anyone there?” Pushing back a bush and you see a faerie grinning at you stupidly, a smile of sharp little teeth.
You blink, “He-”

“Human!” It screams and flies off. “Human! Human! Human! It's a child of Adam! It's a child of man! Woman! A huuuuman!” It screeches for the whole faewood to hear.

With fingers in your ears, you walk on, tromping in nearly the opposite direction. Honestly, this place feels different from your other trips to the astral. This isn't like the bedroom with Lucia, or Asherah's beach. No- it's actually more like Asherah's beach... Just. More.
There's a life here and there are denizens. You can hear a rousing interest from far away as the fae alarms others. This is more like another plane.

As you carry on, you see crystalline trees breaching through the canopy of the woods.
The way there, you find a bridge granting passage over a running river. You scratch your chin to think. Something's giving you pause, yet you can't quite put your finger on it...

Also, is our magic disabled here?
>>
>>35595374
More the other way around - our Alchemy is improved by all our other magic. Alch does help the other spells, but it gets a bigger buff itself than it gives.

Also it doesn't really interact with summoning much at all beyond the whole real bodies thing.
>>
>>35595490
Pretty sure we can magic in the astral, but I don't really feel like testing our stuff against this place. Seems like it'd go poorly at best.

With your intuition bleats at you, and with that little thought in mind, you head to the side of the bridge, going prone and peering around to the underside. There you see a troll dozing off beneath the bridge.

Huh, well that figures. Every bridge have a troll under it or something?

Well, maybe you could ask it for directions to the fae court...

You stare at the sleeping troll, a thug of thick skin, long horns, and gangly features. It's a safe bet that it could dash your body here with a single swing...

Hoisting yourself up, you're ready to run downriver at a moment's notice, “Hey there.” You say aloud, “You with the face.”

The dark green monster rustles in its sleeping habit, a loud wretched snore tearing through the air.

With a deep breath, you yell “I SAID YOU WITH THE FACE!”

The thing swings out, waking up, large yellow eyes snapping open with veins popping. “Ho?! Who goes thar? Ye be want'n cross me bridge? Need a toll t' keep it nice an' fixed fer da passersby.”

You dig in your pockets, turning them out to find them empty. Figures. “No money, but I do need to pass.”

“An' ware might ye be goin' lad?” It grumbles, hoisting itself up, and swinging its long arms upon the underside of the bridge, flipping up topside like a monkey, stretching out, cracking and popping joints, “Oh, me old bones be sore 's a whore... Ware ye be goin? An'...” The thing squints, “Aint ye be a human?”

“Looking for the Seelie Court. And yes, I am.” Hopefully that gets you some special priviledge. “By the way, where am I?”

“Queshtun fer an answer lad...” The monster scratches wiry whiskers sprouting from its chin, “Ye be in Tir Na Nog, land o' th' immortul Fae. An what might a human be look'n fer th' court fer? Been a long time since y' kind been to ourland.”

“Knowledge, though an alliance might be alright too.” You admit, the troll, gripping his chin ponderously.

“Well, that be one o' the nob-ler causes lad. An' wish me could help ya. But see, me bridge, “He taps his foot upon the ragged wood, “Has a toll. No coin, no passage.”

“I could make a deal with you. Summon you into the real world.” You bargain, yet the troll laughs.

“See, 's much 's tha's nice, me can' do it. Bridge 'as a toll, an' me be troll. Law o' th' fae. If y' try t' pass, I'll need t' eat ya.”

“Right...” You look on down the river.

“It ends kin' o' far. Too fas' t' cross wit'out getting' swept t' the pond. Take time but y' might be right on getting' round.”

“Sounds fine by me.” You start to walk off.

“Good luck wit' 'em girlies human!”

You give a backwards wave. At least the troll was somewhat pleasant.

Downriver, you find yourself at a clearing with a pond, the water slowly foaming and lapping at the shores, pooling with etheric forces, spurts of magic and life glistening amongst the surface. Lillypads in full bloom, and dragonflies darting about, dipping into the water. Further and up is a sheer cliff face, though there seems to be a thin ledge that's passable between the water and cliff face.

Your feet are kind of tired.. and you find yourself a bit parched.

With a blink, you find yourself a bit more tired than you thought. Seeing a tree that seems just right to lean against, you slide down, get comfortable and stare at the burbling water for a bit. Little wisps fly across the pond, chasing fireflies. Slowly, you doze off...

After a while, you hear voices.
“A human...”

“Evie was right!

“Shush Xera, you'll wake it up!”

“Shaddup Sappa, YOU'LL wake it up!”

“Shhh, Quiet you, he's napping.” This one hums from the tree you're snug up against.

Cracking your eyes open slowly, you're met with the little faces of a small flock of faeries.

“It's awake! Scram!” A red-haired one shouts, and the they all zip away.

Getting up, you feel a touch on your shoulder and look back to see a woman of wood halfway out of the tree, “Good morning, I tried to get them to leave you be. By chance, you are unwed?”

Gently and warily, you pull away, brushing the feeling of the touch off your shoulder, “No, I'm not. I was just going actually.” In a bit of a hurry, you start to head for the cliff.

“Wait! Wait! Those rocks are slippery!”

You look back, “And?”

“When something is slippery, you're bound to slip.” The dryad smiles, green hair falling over part of her face. She's part of a willow tree.

You stare at her blankly, “Okay, isn't that common sense?”

“Of course it is. That's why you shouldn't walk on those rocks.”

You turn to her and tromp up, looking her up and down. Long willowy hair covers her face, obscuring her eyes, yet revealing enough for a friendly little smile to pass through. The vines cover her chest which you presume to be otherwise bare. She has her hands before her, gingerly fidgeting with her fingers.

“So, what do you propose I do?”

The dryad points out to the water, “Should ask the nymphs for safe passage...

“Alright, thank you.” You begin to turn again, when-

“But first! C-could I... Erm... Could I have a hug?”

They're actively trying to be girls, as opposed to simply being a girl, so... yeah. Turns out when you have unrealistic fantasies and expectations, the people actively trying to live up to the same unrealistic fantasies and expectations will, in fact, be closer that ideal.

She opens her arms up, looking away ever so slightly. From where you can see her cheeks through the willowvine, she's blushing a bit. She seems.. bashful?

A bit wary at first, you step forward, “No tricks, okay?” and put your arm around her. As you embrace her, she returns it, laying her head upon your shoulder amputated shoulder and taking in a deep breath.

“You smell like an old burnt wood... Lots of anger, but there is peace for you here...” She pulls away, “You should ask the Queen Titania for healing, surely she could heal the anger as it rests in your-”

You bat her off, “I'm fine.” You make to leave at last, “The anger is good. It is my tool for justice. I will protect the trees.”

“It sounds more like vengeance...”

“Mind your own, okay?” You stop, thinking for a moment, “Though I may need someone like you. To protect the trees... If you could help them protect themselves, would you?”

“A b-body? In your world? I.. I don't know. I've been here for so long..”

“You've only been in Tir Na Nog for a few years, you know how time passes for us.” A little red-headed faerie peeps out from the dryad's vines.

“Xera, but that's.”

“Hey, human, why not make me and the girls that kind of offer? We'd love to go to the human world! The sights, the smells, the life!”

Staring at the fae for a moment, you walk off to the pond's side without another word.

“-eyyyyyy!” The Faerie zips in front of your face as you squat beside the water. “Hey! Listen! Me and the girls-”
You move the faerie out of the way, as you go to scratch your head, wondering what to do with the pond.
“Listen, Hey! We can help yo-” You grab the faerie, and throw her backward as you raise an eyebrow.

“I SAID HEY!” She darts back in front, and grabs your hand as you make to bat her out of the way.

Looking at the back of your hand, you grimace at the faerie, “What do you want? Got anything useful to say?”

“Me and the gi-” You tense up, ready to swing her off, “YOU SHOULD KNOCK!”
>>
>>35599457
You stop. “What?

“If you knock on someone's home, they answer. Faerie rule. Twice for bathroom, three times for friends or familial affairs, four for business!”

“Uh, huh. And what about five, six, seven, or eight?”

“You don't need to knock that many times!” She cries.

“Alright, what do you want?”

The Fae finally sighs, and flits off of your hand, “Finally, you're gonna listen! Oh, I'm so excited!” She sees some of the other faeries looking at her, immediately locking up and adjusting her position, straight and haughty.
“I am Xera, a fire Godde-”

“Bullshit.” You look away, ready to knock.

“Wait, wait, wait!” She pleads, and you give her attention again, a scrutinizing look.

“Okay, I'm Xera, and my sisters heard about boundary between our worlds becoming all thin again! We were hoping that- since you're hear- that you could pretty please summon us so we can do things and have fun?” She clasps her hands together, squeezing her eyes shut.

You roll your own, had your own fill of little faeries. But... “You can do fire magic?”

“A little...- I mean, a lot! I can totally do a lot!” She zips around, before you, puffing out her chest, “I'm a fire goddess after all!”

“Right... And the girls?” You point a thumb back at the other fae that are peeking out of hiding.

“Oi, come here, I think the human is cool!”

“You sure Xera?”

“Yeah! It totally doesn't want to eat us!”

For some reason, you feel vaguely dramatized as a monster.

The other faeries come out. One with yellow hair, another with blue, and the last with green.

Xera points out each one in turn, “Evi!”

The one with a troubled smile, long ears, a crook in her nose and blobde hair pulled back into a bun waves back shyly,” H-hello...”

“Sappa!”

One with long curly blue hair and downcast eyes waves back, “Hello...”

“And Sara!”

The one in green that you actually recognize from the bushes earlier, growls at you with her hands out like claws, “Rawr, human!”

The quartet of faes gather in front of you.
“So you're going to summon us?”
“I expected taller.”
“Wonder what that bulge is in his pants.”
“What happened to his arm?”
“He smells like smoke.”

The faes chatter about, incessantly as they get more comfortable...

Ignoring them, you turn to knock on the surface of the water. To your surprise, knuckles against water have a sudden firmness, giving the implication and sound of an actual knock.

You knock once.

“Hey, what are you doing?”

You knock again.

“Wait, he's knocking.”

And a third time.

“Hey, we were-”

You knock a fourth and final time.

“No! He knocked four times for the nymph!”

You knock four times, and look away for a moment to stare at the annoying faeries, “What? I have business with her.”

“The nymph in the water, business is-”

You hear a sudden splash and arms encircling you. Without another moment wasted, you're drawn into the pond, struggling against the unknown assailant's supernatural strength. Suddenly, you experience vivid flashbacks of when you were swept up by the San Diego wave. In a panic, you kick, and pull, trying to scream, thrash away, gag and choke. The watery nymph looks into your eyes with a predatory glint as she pulls you in close and kisses you deeply, pulling you further down into the deceptively deep pond...

Although I pretty sure that one was a joke but it's still kinda funny. Might have a dozen people who would take that seriously though. What's the number needed to become a minor god anyways?

I don't think a dozen is enough to become a full-blown god, but it probably gets them a meager astral presence.

So, Morgan was alive at some point. I'm going to guess that she was actually a human when she was alive and not a fae.

I wonder if Asher's muh treeees thing will result in him getting astral-fied as some kind of fae forest lord thing.
