>OPENING THEME: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h-rj8HVW3PQ ("A Stranger I Remain" - MGR OST)

>Recap
Makoto Kinushima, first round draft pick to Team Raid Wild and the newly monikered Armored Rider Raid, is challenged by Kaito Kumon, the leader of Team Baron, to a one-on-one Inves duel. Given her lockseed's power, Makoto easily wins, defending her team's status and obtaining the Pine Lockseed from Kaito. However, near Ryoji Hase's (the leader of Team Raid Wild) apartment, a portal to the strangely colored forest of the Inves appears, spouting vines and strange fruits into the real world. Makoto finds Hase gravely injured, with his own Sengoku Driver, and manages to save him by the skin of their teeth from the hordes of monsters in the forest. It's revealed that due to the injuries Hase sustained, that he has contracted some form of infection that is growing vines in his body, the "Helheim infection", and Hase is taken to Yggdrasil Corporation's HQ directly to deal with the highly contagious disease.

We've left off with Makoto at the front doors of Yggdrasil, with questions to ask the big guards who are blocking the doors to Yggdrasil...

Quest is kicking off at 11 AM EST, please stay tuned!

>Hey there, you~ <3

>QUEST BEGIN

You are Makoto Kinushima, second in command of Team Raid Wild, and currently you are experiencing an unknown emotion to date.

Mortal, cold fear.

Ryoji Hase's been wheeled in a self-contained quarantine unit into the Yggdrasil Corporation's headquarters, similarly self-contained hazard suited doctors and nurses having rushed him off. The Helheim infection, as they called it, was being treated on the same levels as Ebola or otherwise highly infectious diseases, and the big men in suits and gas masks aren't doing anything to help you be reassured that Hase will be fine. Given the vines growing in his wounds, and everything... would Hase recover? Was there a cure for this? Too many questions were bouncing through your fatigued mind, most all of them dealing with just how to deal with the situation in front of you.

You take a moment to breathe deeply, and formulate your plan of action. You could ask the guards about what the hell's going on, but you have no way of knowing about their potential for assuaging your brain. Alternatively, it might be worth coming back later...

There's not much we can do right now, and trying to push past them would likely cause more problems.

You do your best to try to dodge and dart around the guards, but as you might expect by guards of such a powerful company, they easily block your path every time. They take no action against you, not even trying to restrain you, but you can tell they are serious. You huff in frustration.

>"Why can't I go in with him? I promise I'll stay out of the way or whatever, besides I'm the one who found him. What happens if whatever happened rubbed off on me, shouldn't you keep me in a waiting room at least just in case?"
you plead, but the guards remain mostly impassive.

"Ma'am, we understand your frustration, but we cannot let you pass. The Yggdrasil Corporation puts the medical safety of its patients as its top priority, especially with dealing with the Helheim infection. To bring you in such close vicinity with him in this state could result in your infection as well, if you have any open wounds or the like."

You are currently IN ONE PIECE at the moment, thanks to your quick thinking wiht equipping the Driver, and you feel HEALTHY.

You huff again, and in a quieter voice:
>"Just tell me one thing, okay, and then I'll stop bothering you: Is this survivable? They wouldn't be trying to treat him if there wasn't at least some hope, right?"

The guards nod.
"It depends on the patient himself, but yes, there is hope. In the meantime, we ask that you give him space until the patient is deemed able to receive visitors."

You feel that for now, you've gotten all you can out of the guards, so you take off on foot back towards your district of the city. There's another problem, however - now that Hase's been hospitalized for an unknown period of time, who is going to lead the Raid Wild?

>You, given your position as defacto second in command
>Another of the team members, given they've been with the team longer

We'll talk it over with the team, decide it as a group. Text everyone the news about Hase, we'll meet up in the morning to discuss it.
>>
>>35542295
Hold a vote. One does not simply elect herself as leader; she must let the group choose her.

More importantly, someone else might start getting ideas about Makoto doing this on purpose or something if she takes the leader spot by force. Might as well do it the right way so that we can avoid it.
>>

Votes counted, working on reply now.
>>
>>35542295
Voting is a good idea. I think we'll still be picked as we're de facto second in command as stated by Hase, so people will probably respect that. But if someone has been burning for the spot, they can speak up.

Course, we should still screen them to make sure they're not evil incarnate.
>>
I just wonder how this is going to affect Warren Statesman's plans. Hase getting infected like this could wind up changing a lot.
>>
>>35542419
>>35542422

As you're walking through the chilly streets, silently cursing that you didn't bring a hoodie or something else to keep you warm, you mull over your options. Given that Hase's hospitalized, it could be easy to claim leadership via hierarchy. But you're not only the new kid, but also new to what could be a complicated leadership succession or something. Raid Wild's in need of everyone to participate in this kind of decision, not just yourself.

You pull out your phone and send a mass text to the members of Raid Wild:
>[TEXT] Yo, this is Makoto. Hase's in the hospital at the moment, we retrieved him successfully but he's in the care of Yggdrasil for an unknown period of time. We need to talk about who is going to take over for Hase in the meantime.

Over the course of your walk, you arrange a meetup at Drupers to discuss the next step for Raid Wild. You're not sure if the Helheim infection is going to be something that'll be worth spreading on the Hotline, given that this could immediately set off a panic about the Inves Game and its participants. But the world's going to know eventually about the forest behind the portals, if everything's going the way you are envisioning...

You meet up with the other members of Raid Wild, including Yusei, at Drupers. Not everyone comes in at the same time, given the sudden-ness of the text and call to arms, but that's to be expected. Wasting no time, you detail what happened in the Forest, the wounds Hase had gotten (not too much detail) and that without Hase here, nor being able to communicate with the team, it's left without a leader.

One of the older members, wearing a yellow bandana around his head, speaks up.
>"Are ye sayin' we're ta vote for you, or are ya bein' clear with us here? Not gonna lie, it's mighty suspicious, even with Yusei-chan's testimony here..."

>Response? [write in]

>"Look, I know it looks suspicious, espcially given the timing and everything. But you can ask the EMTs that were there, and Yusei himself - I'm being as clear as I can be. I didn't put Hase in the hospital, and I want you guys to trust me. I'm not aiming for leading the team, which is why I proposed a vote - I don't really care /who/ leads the team, just that it holds together until Hase-kun gets better."

Your voice isn't loud, but the impact behind your words can be felt. An authority and power you weren't aware you could effect is clear to hear and see, as you see the team - Honda, the big guy with the yellow bandana and eldest besides Hase; Yusei, the young newbie; Sakai, the culinary student and "middle child"; Yukio, the self-professed "dance otaku" - process your words. You continue.

>"Anyone can be nominated, one vote per person. Nothing complicated. I won't force you to choose me, as I'd rather one of the older and more experienced members took over rather than myself. I'm kinda fuckin' new at this, y'know."

You laugh, but it feels hollow. People are still quiet, as they mull over who exactly they'd vote for... Yukio pulls up his phone, and brings up a quick poll app, which he hands to each person to fill out.

Your turn comes around, and you choose to vote for:

You press the button for selecting Honda, and hand the phone back. The team's a bit nervous, as you'd expect, but soon enough Yukio delivers the results:

>You: 2
>Honda: 3

Honda is declared the leader, much to his surprise and embarassment. He laughs a bit, but accepts. However, he turns to you abruptly.

>"Look kiddo, I ain't gonna apologize for bein' suspicious. Raid Wild was Hase's baby, an' we ain't meanin' no harm to ya, but forgive us if we ain't openin' up so quickly. We're a buncha old souls, just gotta give us time, y'know?"

His accent reminds you of Kansai a bit, but you nod along. You didn't really think you could handle the responsibility of leading Raid Wild successfully, especially with what you've been going through on your own.

>"However."
He speaks up again, intertwining his fingers and holding his hands against his stomach, and turning to the group at large.
>"That ain't mean yer out or nothin'. Y're kinda our star, here, Kinushima, so we'll need you now more than ever. I ain't much of a fighter, nor am I as skilled at dancing as y'all are. We need ta stick together in the name and honor of Hase. We're second place right now, and we've got a tournament coming up here soon. Need ta keep focused, we can win this shit."

The group nods, concurring. Honda, however, seems to be thinking. It's pretty clear that he doesn't quite know the next step that Raid Wild needs to take to cement their place in the leaderboard, perhaps you could step in with a suggestion?

Raid Wild should always have their Armored Rider training. Under a bridge. With a dummy made of scrap that shoots water.

Also. Wasn't there someone drawing Armored Rider Raid ?
>>

Aren't the Drivers hardcoded to the first person that wears them? If that's the case, it wouldn't do much good to train the entire team.

You pipe up to Honda as he's thinking:
>"Are you thinking of what to do next, boss?"

He nods, frowning a bit. Apparently he didn't realize just how expressive he was in this mode.

>"Why not just turtle down for a while? No need to go crazy, especially without Hase here. Let's focus on training and practice our dancing for the tournament - we don't need to focus on the Inves right now."

He nods, scratching his stubbly chin.
>"You do have a point, we're not really in any position to make demands here. Anyone have any protests or somethin' against Kinushima's proposal?"

The team shakes their head collectively, and he nods.

>"Then it's decided, we'll keep it conservative for now. No funny business, let's not damage our chances at overwhelming Baron. We've got a week or so. We'll practice hard. Got it?"
Again the team nods, which he nods back.
>"Kinushima, it might be worth seein' if you can't get more practice with your Driver weapon thing. Who knows what could happen next, who knows--"

Lychee was described as having "explosive tendencies, relies on lots of hits instead of power". That and the shape of a lychee nut makes me think it's weapon would be something like a cluster bomb.

Starfruit was "extremely powerful but extremely unstable, highly not recommended for new Inves Game players", so I'm thinking it would be some exotic and hard to control weapon. Maybe a giant boomerang shuriken deal, to fit with the fruit's shape?

Cherry looks to me like it would naturally fit a bola, especially given that the cherry Energy Lockseed's finisher attack involves two cherries on their stems wrapping around and crushing the target.

Almond...I think the best fit for almond would be a spear, with a wide oval blade looking like a slice of almond meat.

Raspberry would be similar to lychee, I'd assume. The two fruits look similar enough.

Oh, and cantaloupe and apple are canon fruits, both of them producing shields. Apple comes with a sword that slots into the shield for storage, cantaloupe requires the Rider to have their own sword like our Musou Saber.
>>
>>35544312
Cherry Bolas could either be really good or really bad. I'd imagine a gladiator style appearance to the Rider that uses it, but would it be used like Joseph Joestar's clackers?
>>
>>35544344
The Cherry base suit was supposed to have Viking stylings.

Durian had a gladiator theme, as did Gridon.
>>
>>35544409
Doesn't matter for us, though. We seem to have taken Gaim's place, so we'll likely wind up with something like Jimber Cherry.
>>
>>35544464
Did GM specify that we're taking Kouta's place, or is that just an assumption given Gaim himself not being present.
>>
>>35544496
Sagara didn't specify anything.

But I am presuming that things we don't touch go chiefly the same way.
And Yuya has already gone missing.
So I expect that Kouta will get his Driver. Plus he still would have Micchy and everything he brings to the table.

However, I also presume still only 7 Sengoku drivers on the table, so we are taking the place of /somebody/. Shown or hinted belts so far are us, Hase, Yuya and Kaito.
It may be Micchy, as we are taking Baron's heat upon us rather than them focusing on Gaim so he has a little less reason to grab a belt. He still may, though.
It may be Joey or Oren as the late arrivals.
>>
>>35544496
An assumption, Sagara likes keeping things vague. Kouta is still around, we just haven't run into him yet.
>>
>>35544634
Hopefully he'll shake up the plot if we try to steal his role. I can see Kouta doing some real off the wall shit.
>>
>>35544093
>CONTINUING.

The Beat Rider Hotline today is fairly tame, aside from the mention that the Inves Game is growing in popularity and reliance. While the upcoming All Beat Rider tournament will strictly be dance only, to ensure fairness, Sagara does mention that actual cash money is being put on the Inves Games, both with betting and actual cash transactions between teams. If anything, this has intensified the competition between teams, as people's livelihoods are now on the line.

You note that the system still counts killing Inves that were participating in the Inves game as victories, so the thought occurs to you - perhaps you can take extra fights to earn money for Raid Wild? You put it to the side for now, as Honda's the one who's giving orders, not you.

For now.

>Check on other teams

The team splits off to do their own thing, but you bug the unassuming Sakai about if he's free to spend some time together. He shrugs, and offers to walk with you back to your house.

Sakai, full name Akano Sakai, isn't someone that makes conversation easy with him. Not because he's not interested in talking, but because he's kind of quiet in the first place. He opens up after some difficulty, once you engage him regarding food-related topics. Though it's very clear there's some social awkwardness on his end.

>"Food's one of those things," he says, "where it's always necessary to not only keep people involved, but always improve and enhance. I know it isn't, y'know, dancing or anything, but it's something that I feel is necessary... i mean..."

You grab a simple bite to eat with Sakai (at his recommendation) as you walk home with him. Sakai's smiling by the time you part ways, but you feel that you at least got to know him a little better.

You get home, and check the current team ratings and news, and find the following:
>Baron's working harder than ever to reclaim their place in the top 3.
>Invitto and Severe Beat are squabbling over territory.
>Gaim's starting to struggle with the apparent loss of both Yuya and Kouta as dancers, relying more on Inves fights.

Rankings still place raid wild at 2nd, with Gaim beginning to slip and Baron coming closer to challenging for your position. There's not much movement on the lower teams, aside from Invitto now starting to threaten Baron.

>The next day...

Today is one of those days where there's almost no passion to do anything. A thunderstorm is darkening the sky, making you think it's nearly nighttime by the time your alarm goes off, throwing off your energy this morning. Doesn't also help that the lights are off... did your parents forget to pay the rent or something? Perhaps they were gone for the day. The rain is soothing, though.

Sure. But let's not skip karate classes over it, especially not now that it's apparent we need to git gud at combat if this shit keeps up.

Plus, if we have a semblance of training, Oren might not hate us as much as the other 'amateurs' when he shows up.

Speaking of, I've been looking at some zodiac personality descriptions for whenever we meet Oren and it looks like Makoto fits Cancer the most. I wonder how he feels about Cancers.
>>
>>35546711

You decide that while today might not be that pretty outside, there's still work to be done. Specifically, actually finding a job. Fighting and participating in the dance battles may be a great pastime, but you do need to start looking for ways to pay the rent. Your parents haven't started asking, but it's better to start making progress towards that instead of being blindsided by the question.

With trusty umbrella in hand, you start making your way down to where most of the commercial businesses are in Zawame, following the clues and leads from the half-soaked bulletin boards. Good thing these things are typically hidden under overhangs, otherwise most everything on there would be lost.

You browse around, looking specifically for places that have anything resembling "Help Wanted" or "Now Hiring", and this is what you find:

>Waitress/barista at a pastry shop
>Page at a library
>Administrative assistant for a branch of Yggdrasil
>Babysitter

While these all sound rather interesting, and well paying, there's many more potential jobs out there. You could spend more of the day looking for more specific jobs if you want, but you may miss Karate practice.

The main pastry shop in town is a shop by the name of Charmant, which has a bit of a history to it. Its owner, a certain Oren Pierre Alfonso (despite not looking French at all), has a reputation for being both overly flamboyant and, in some cases, very quick to anger. As it turns out, the help wanted sign in his window came shortly after an employee stormed out, nearly covered head to toe in tea.

You gulp in nervousness. You don't have much in the way of skill with pastries, you know how to make coffee. But this Oren guy sounds extremely dangerous...

You walk in, looking at the cafe itself. It's colored in chocolate and cream, and the smell of fresh pastry is almost intoxicating. It's something you can get used to, but this Oren guy is nowhere to be found - or at least, his legendarily bombastic personality. There are a few of the employees behind the glass counters, who greet you.

>"I'm here for an interview for the waitress position?" you inquire, not entirely sure where to inquire.

>"Oh, yeah, uh, just give me a second,"
one of the employees says in response, walking behind the counter to the entrance to the kitchen.
>"Hey boss, that girl's here about the waitress interview--"
The employee starts, before the strangest... man? You're pretty sure he's a man... slips into view. He's wearing a turban, a frilled sleeveless shirt, armbands... wearing makeup? Was this guy the owner of Charmant?

>"I ask you, /kindly/, refer to me as patissier," he responds. There's no raise of his voice, but damn if he wasn't intimidating.

>Response?
>>
>>35547577
Well for starters, calling him a patssier will probably be a good idea. He doesn't seem like the sort to like flattery, so being honest about our intention would be good. We do work hard and have quite a bit of dedication to our craft... what with how we kept doing the same thing for four years in the hopes of getting in. I think those are good points.
>>
>>35547577
"Um... excuse me, 'patissier'? I noticed you were looking for a waitress?"
>>
>>35547577
"I, uh."

"AHEM. I was interested in working here, patissier."

>>35547718
That too. Good work ethic is a plus.
>>
Just make sure you sound like a Professional.
>>
>>35547764
In a way, we kinda are. Dedication to our goal, Knowing when to back off and when to charge in and calling out tactics that smear what we do. Probably not a full professional, but we are certainly not wishy washy.
>>
>>35547718
>>35547744
>>35547753

You stand up straight and speak clearly, intending to at least affect the appearance of knowing what you're doing.

>"I was interested in working here, patissier, if you would have me."

The man steps around the younger employee, eyes nearly boring into you with scrutiny as he looks you over. You tried dressing at least somewhat put together, with a button up shirt and nice pants, but given the exuberance of his own clothing you worried it wouldn't match up.

With a sudden move, he tilts up your chin with a finger, getting a better look at you. Clearly this man doesn't know you from the news, which is refreshing - but it does make the job of trying to appeal to him that much harder.

>"What's your birthday, lad?"
he asks, without breaking a step. If you didn't know any better, you could swear this man was a dancer at some point in time.

Fuck it, I'm bored:

Forming a mutualistic relationship, the Hase bird (Ichigeki winklebonkjeep) and the Makoto crab (Protagonistus femini) stay close after the bird selects one crab from a group, following a ritualistic dance.

The crab helps disguise the bird from predators, while the bird gives the crab incredibly high social standing among other members of its clade. Their predators include the common household Inves, as well as all members of the Baronus family.

They share a common diet, consisting of pinecones, dragonfruit, pineapples, and the fruit of the rare "Helheim" vine.

You look him back in the eyes, trying ot maintain your composure, and respond:
>"July 7th, sir."

He makes a "not bad" face, or at least what you assume to be one, and lets go of your chin. The man smells like fresh baked sweet bread, not surprisingly, but he seems to be relaxing. He walks over to one of the tables in the quiet cafe, offers you a seat. You comply, not as nervous as you were before, but still quite apprehensive about the interview.

>"So, you do know that this isn't a job for the weak-hearted or flaky, correct?"
he inquires. You nod, before he continues.
>"This cafe, the pastries and sweets we make, and the people in it, are extremely important to me. I can't be having people working for me who aren't willing to put in the time and effort to make this little shop of mine flourish. Sweet. Time for Sengoku quest!
>>
>>35548768

Karate practice goes fairly well, nothing outstanding or noteworthy really happens during it. Most of the participants don't feel like they're all the way into it, mainly because of the rain and depressing weather outside. You seem to stand out from the crowd, mainly because of the prior news you received.

>Your skill in martial arts has reached "novice"!

Once you get home from work, however, Yusei's waiting outside. He's got worry in his eyes as he speaks up, not even waiting for a greeting.

>"So much for keeping quiet and down low this week. There's been a sighting of another Armored Rider, this time representing Team Gaim."

This freaks you out a bit, as you hadn't even seen any news about this. You scramble for your phone, only to see that in the effort to make a good impression you had left it on silent and hadn't turned it back on. When you do, you see many different notifications from Raid Wild, as well as a recording of the last Beat Rider Hotline. Indeed, there was another reported sighting of an Armored Rider, clad in blue and orange. No one knows anything about who he is, other than he seems to be supporting Team Gaim, hence the name Armored Rider Gaim. His weapon appears to be a saber, like yours, but with a second sword shaped like a slice of an orange.

And apparently, this Armored Rider personally helped Gaim retake huge chunks of territory from Baron, Invitto, and even knocking some of the smaller teams down to last place. Whoever this Gaim rider was, he wasn't anything to fuck with. He even demolished a Berserker Inves which broke free from a fight between Gaim and Baron, in Kaito's desperate attempt to start reclaiming territory.

You and Yusei make your way to the Free Performance Zone, the rain starting to fade away to a drizzle. Driver and Lockseed with you, the walk is a bit more dramatic than you anticipated. It's not long of a walk, but the mass of umbrellas that you see at the Zone tell you that something's up. You weren't notified of any battles at the FPZ, especially when it's your territory, so what was everyone doing here??

You muscle your way through the crowd to see a dance crew that you didn't expect to see - Baron, led by Kaito, who's madder than ever. All of the red-suited dancers are resolutely standing upon the stage, arms crossed.

Oh hell no.

>"Kinushima Makoto,"
Kaito announces.
>"You're just in time. We were about to issue a formal challenge once more to you - this time for keeps."

It's only Yusei and you this time around, and you don't see any of Raid Wild here - but the gathering of people betrays that this might have been something specifically marketed under the radar. A protest, perhaps?

You look over to Yusei and ask, "Let the team know about this, I don't want to blindside them." He nods and pulls out his phone, tapping away, as you return your attention to Kaito. Stepping forward out of the crowd, your voice rings clear.

>"Raid Wild isn't currently here, I'm here representing myself. This is fairly desperate measures for a man who treasures integrity and strength... something that Zack or Peco would do, sounds like."

>"OOOOOOOOOOOH"
goes the crowd, as you continue.

>"Is that new Gaim guy getting to you?"

Kaito "tch"es, not responding verbally. But judging by his reaction, it's visibly shaken him more than enough to influence his actions.

>"Fine, fine, it's your loss. I'll accept your challenge, but don't expect to get anything if you win. I don't even think this kind of challenge is legal - hell, when did this even have rules for challenges and such?"

>"It's common sense," he responds. "Someone challenges your position, you rise up to the challenge or be walked over. The strong rule, the weak perish. The truth of this world."

Common sense that he himself didn't observe, clearly.

You sigh, shifting a bit and standing under the drizzle.
>"So how you want to do this? Dancer to dancer, or what? If we're gonna go West Side Story, at lea--"

Your sentence is cut short by the device he draws from the inside of his pocket.

The crowd is shocked as he hops off of the stage, Kaito beginning to monologue with passion and even fury in his voice.

>"You do not know what it means to be truly strong yet. You swing around a weapon with which you know so very little of how to wield it effectively, and through what kind of luck, folly or trickery you employ, you manage to be a victor. If you cannot face a challenge in the name of your team, in the name of your leader, then you do not deserve to ever be called 'strong'."

IF there was ever a man to drive you up a wall with his self-righteous, arrogant behavior, it was this Kaito Kumon himself. The more he talked, the more you wanted to punch him in the face, Rider or not. You weren't sure if this was intentional from his end, given his ruthlessness, or if this was him voicing his feelings, but no matter what it was, it was pissing you off.

He places the Driver against his hips, forming the belt around him. The faceplate shows a far more knight-like appearance, red and gold. From within his jacket, he also draws another A-Class Lockseed - golden yellow bananas decorating it.

>"Let me show you how to truly wield strength beyond your imagination, Kinushima Makoto. No more games, a true duel."

>"Henshin."

He clicks open the Lockseed, it saying "BANANA!" A little twirl of the Lockseed on his right hand's index finger, and he slams the Lock into the Driver. A zipper portal appears over him, dropping down what looks to be a metallic banana from the other side of the portal, and he starts walking forward. A flick of the lever, and the motions appear in place. (http://youtu.be/8qMhRONmAT8?t=16m48s)

The armor drops, the belt chimes "BANANA ARMS! KNIGHT OF SPEAR!" and he stands, spear in hand and staring directly at you. It is clear he is intending not just to show off.

You pull your own driver from your bag, fastening it to your waist effortlessly. The Dragonfruit lockseed dangles from your fingers as you grin, predatory and confident, opening it up to an announcement of 'DORAGONFURUTSU"

>"The fiery babe of justice, Makoto Kinushima, is taking to the stage! Time to bare my fangs! HENSHIN!"

The sequence is familiar enough to you to know when things happen, but a bit of a toss-up with the pose itself - right arm crossing your body and partially obscuring your face, left hand securing the Lockseed to the Driver and pulling the lever. The gambeson undersuit immediately streams over your form, and the armor unfolds quickly. It's becoming more and more familiar to you about how the sensation is.

>"DORAGONFURUTSU ARMS, KASAIMICHI TO GLORY!"

The claw forms on your left hand, and you draw your saber from your hip. No movements yet, but clearly showing your want to get this on the road as well.

>Tune: MGR OST: Stains of Time (Monsoon's Theme) : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ULQgMntenO8

You don't know what happened. You really don't. One second you're standing tall and strong, the next you're desperately fending off blows as if you just picked up your weapons for the first time. Kaito's strikes are demonstrating themselves to be far more skilled and practiced than yours - or at least, it sure feels like it. Your saber already was knocked out of your hand, clattering away across the ground. All you're left with is your claw, which is getting harder and harder to block with.

He's aiming for key points of your body - wrists, joints, knees - aiming to disarm you and knock you down. And while you're decently blocking, thanks to karate practice earlier, he's beginning to overwhelm you...! YOU NEED TO CHANGE THE FLOW OF BATTLE, and FAST.

Fight dirty. We don't have the strength without Rider powers to out power him.
>>
>>35551316
When you're losing a rider fight, the best thing to do is throws and rolls. Grab your opponent and drag them around with you.

When you've got them off your back you can push them and strike with weapons, but the crucial thing is to floor them a few times, since punching them doesn't change the flow of the fight.

We're not going to beat Kaito at aggression. Let's fight dirty. Try to grab one of the "peels" on his spear with the prongs of our claws and use that to drag him around. Roll him like >>35551370 suggests.

>>

>>35551512

While Kaito was skilled, that much was certain, you figured that in his infinite martial wisdom he was far more used to weapon-to-weapon fighting the conventional way. No punches, no kicks, no rolls, and especially no throws.

You manage to catch one of the "peel" guards near the base of his spear, successfully wrapping your arm around the weapon and preventing you from being harmed by it. Dragging the weapon, and by extension Kaito, past you, you manage to get a semi grip on his waist and with a step behind his leg, successfully knock him onto his back. The crowd's going absolutely nuts at this point, cheering and jeering, when you scramble on top of him and are about to deliver a punishing claw blow to his head--

>"HOLD IT!"

The crowd falls quiet, and both you and Kaito turn to who called the stop. Surprisingly, it's Sid, carrying behind him his suitcase of Lockseeds. In a hurry you stand up, dusting yourself off as he begins to speak.

>"Now that we've got Armored Riders slugging it out, this can't be really called an Inves Game anymore, right?"
He casually says, reaching into the suitcase to pull out two bigger lockseeds - one in white and pink, and one in red, green, and black. He tosses you the red, green, and black one, revealing as you catch it that there's a rose design on it.

>"Let's update the rules a bit, shall we? Open up the Lockseeds."

You and Kaito both do so, Kaito clearly looking none too pleased. But the Lockseeds themselves unfurl and change their mass, expanding into motorcycles of all things. The one Kaito's next to has a pattern of a cherry blossom on its front, whereas yours has its rose pattern as well.

>"On the house, just this once. Top of the line Lock Vehicle technology, prototypes. A race with these, instead of brawling it out like savages."

Kaito "tch"s again, looking at the vehicle.
>"You're wanting us to battle with these? Instead of our own power? ...interesting."

Sid smirks.

>>
>>35551812

You lean on the bike a bit, acting like you didn't just get your ass handed to you three ways, and call out to Sid:
>"More product testing, Sid? Care to actually tell us the risks beforehand this time, or would that be a breach of your contract?"

Sid looks a bit perplexed.
>"They're motorcycles in Lockseed form, of course there are risks. Again, they're prototypes. Use them as you see fit. I trust that you can at least make it interesting."

Sid smirks once more, sealing his lips. You turn to Kaito, and shrug.
>"Race around Main Circle then back here?"
you offer, referring to the circular Main street that runs around the city and circles the Yggdrasil Corporation headquarters. Kaito nods in response, getting onto his bike. You could swear you hear him curse under his breath for receiving such a poorly colored bike, but it might be the acoustics with the helmet.

You climb onto your bike as well, pointing it towards the mouth of the FPZ. It's kind of like riding a bicycle, you remind yourself. Only, with more levers and throttles.

Your Drivers both chime the starting sounds for the race, and on the third tone, yours takes off like a goddamn rocket. It's hard enough for you to hold onto the bike, given that you've never had to pilot something this quick by hand, but you manage to do so somehow. Kaito becomes a quickly shrinking figure in your rear view mirrors, as you take the first turn to get onto Main Circle.

So far this race is proving to be extremely easy. The bike feels like it was made for you, and whileyou haven't ever even ridden on one, the controls are instinctive and simple. It quickly becomes a familiar sensation to use the throttle and brakes, maneuvering around cars on the road. You see Kaito come up behind the turn, accelerating far faster than you expected. In response, you gun your throttle, doing your best to control the vehicle as the two of you zip and weave through traffic. Red lights don't stop you, and even approaching traffic doesn't stop you, as with a gun of your throttle once more, your bike sails over the approaching cars and lands safely. It's almost as if you're flying...

...until you see some form of holographic gauge appear above the handlebars. The numbers on it are growing, from around 100 to 250, but you know it's certainly not your speedometer...

Kaito finally manages to catch up to you, as the road ahead of you remains clear from cars and traffic. The two of you are neck and neck, focusing on nothing else other than the race...

And then the world starts going spinny.

Yes, the world is going spinning, as you see your horizon start twirling and twisting around you. Flower petals are flying in the wind around the both of you, yours being red, while Kaito's being white respectively. In the immediate distance, two star-shaped zipper portals begin to take form, and as soon as they open up, you and Kaito are pushed through it, surrounded in pink and white light.

You don't feel any transition, really, between what you assume was the real world and the Forest, but you know for a fact you've been dumped here again. The two of you do land successfully, still rolling and motoring, although the terrain in this part of the Forest isn't as smooth as the road you were just driving on.

What worries you, however, is the sound of massive animals buzzing and flitting around behind you. You can see them in your rear view mirrors - Inves, the grub kind, now apparently with wings that are fast enough to chase you down!

Kaito slows to a stop, and begins to dismount his bike, Banana spear at the ready.

>Stop as well and fight the Inves
>Continue onwards in hopes of finding a way back
>>
>>35552596
Stand and fight! We have honor! And we'll get some valuable fighting experience. Besides, we don't know how much Kaito has trained, so he may or may not actually need help.

>Stop as well and fight the Inves

>>
>>35552622
>>35552631
>>35552634

Being the better person, you slow to a halt as well and get off your bike, unsheathing your claw and immediately getting to work as best as you can.

Which is much more difficult than it sounds, given that they can fly and you, well, can't. A couple divebombs hit you successfully, showering you in sparks, but the third or fourth time you manage to get a grip of the Inves' arm and drag him into a makeshift body slam. It's not fun when you hit the ground, but given the Inves itself's not doing so great either, you consider it a fair trade.

The Inves begin to try swarming you and Kaito, but unlike fighting Baron, fighting the Inves is far easier given their lack of skill. One, two, three, four Inves fall by the blades of your claw, and you're prepared for many many more, while Kaito's still struggling against two. He's trying to be stylish, trying to appear composed, bless his heart, but it isn't working too well.

I have come bearing cleaned up fanart and two hairstyle suggestions for Makoto.

A chin length bob with bisected bangs or a similar bob with no bangs.
>>
>>35553442
Bang. Maybe with a more wild look.
>>
>>35553442
Gonna have to second the bang. As much as I like the no bang, the bangs make her look more childish and that's probably a better representation of her.
>>
>>35553442
I've been imagining her as something close to the bangs hairstyle, so let's go with that. Though, like >>35553465 said, a bit more wild a look would fit her.

I also like the one with bangs. A bit wild all around, but not overly messy

God bless his soul, but the more he fought, the less he was accomplishing. You crouch low, summoning your strength, and flick the lever on your Driver twice.

>"DORAGONFURUTSU AU LAIT!"

With a mighty leap, you take to the sky. The twin appendages on the back of your armor flick out sideways and extend into glider wings, and your claw lights up with a burning fury. Claw aimed forward, you take a divebomb at the Inves, drilling and slicling through the Elementary Inves surrounding him. The creatures explode in balls of magenta flames, before Kaito takes it upon himself to finish the job.

>"BANANA SQUASH"

With mighty stabs of his spear, and projections of actual bananas (seriously) through the Inves, he finishes the job with a flourish.

What a fucking dork.

Now that you two are alone, however, and still in your combat forms, you and Kaito are staring at one another once more.

You snark from behind your helmet, not able to hold back a chuckle. It was more in jest than mockery, but Kaito seemed ot pay it no mind. It seemed that he was more focused on staring at his hand.

>"I.. have actual power,"
he mutters, balling his fist up.

You try to get his attention again, repeating what you just said. He looks up finally, regarding you silently, before reaching for the opened Lockseed on his Driver and closing it.

>"Do you have a plan, Kinushima?"
he asks simply.

Refusing to de-transform, given your experience here, you nod.
>"If we got here like Back to the Future, we needed a clear stretch of road to make the bikes go. Sure as hell know that kind of emergence wasn't from us, but probably was from the bikes themselves. Sid, that backstabbing asshole..."

He holds a hand up, signaling he's had enough.
>"All that needs to be done is to find a clearing, and get to speed? Shouldn't be difficult."

With that, however, he starts walking off into the woods. You reach out to him:
>"Hey, where the hell do you think you're going? This place is swarming with Inves, if you're not careful you're going to get yourself hurt!"

He turns slightly and frowns.
>"Staying together is not necessary. I intend to explore more of this forest, to see if there isn't an exit already available."

I think we really need to buckle down and decide on a look for Makoto though. I have a sheet put together that I'll probably have to update since it looks like a hairstyle has been agreed on, we just need some drawfags.
