You head out of your room and walk down the carpeted halls of your hotel, relieved that the media presence that had hounded you the previous day wasn't present and focused your mind on taking a relaxing swim to start your day off right. The cool water felt soothing as you hopped into the almost-Olympic-sized pool and your mind started to wander as you relentlessly sped off laps, mostly pondering if and when you and your teammates will get a chance to fight, as the last article you had read before drifting off to sleep had it made out that the three of you were in "The Hot Seat" from the shithead that's running this tournament over your victory-by-breakdancing in the fight two days ago...

Another big thing that's lingering in your consciousness is the presence of "The Oyaji Team" in your bracket and the possibility that you'll have to fight them... Or, rather, the possibility of having to compete against "Mr. Karate".

You can almost hear him laugh in that gruff, deep voice he carries (An act, of course, and thankfully one you don't have to play along with anymore after getting expelled from The Kyokugen Dojo back in Southtown) over the sound of your body pushing itself through the water, then climb out after doing a few more laps and towel yourself off.

A few more stretches back in your room followed by an hour's worth of Full-Body Exercises with ever-more ridiculous names ("The Inchworm", "Bear Crawls" & "Tuck Jumps") leave you satisfied for the day, but the fact that you haven't heard anything from King or Yuri in the other rooms is... Troubling, you suppose.

"Nah, I got it on my phone right here King" she says, then checks the screen on her phone and seemingly turns white as a sheet, her eyes widening a little.

"C'mon sunshine, yer'dad wouldn't get dropped by bloody "Cosplayers"... Would he?" you ask.

Yuri shakes her head and tells you "No, The Oyaji Team won, but there's some kind of protest going on because Da- Uh, "Mr. karate" didn't formally show up."

"Typical Takuma; He probably was just waiting to make a dramatic entrance" King offers, thinking back to that one dinner Ryo took her out a while ago.

"Great, I always wanted Ole'Takuma t'ground me into paste in front of the free world..." you mutter, that laughing you had "Heard" from swimming earlier echoing in the back of your ears.

"You never know... He might pull something swooping down from the rafters like that one time" King slyly says to Yuri's chargin.

"Hey, c'mon I know he's weird, but he IS my dad alright?" she says, sounding a little peeved at King.

"Of course" you start to say, but then add "But still... He IS pretty goofy fer'a man as strong as him, y'know?"

"I think he read too many Wuxia novels growing up" Yuri says, then looks at the clock on her phone and adds "Uh-oh, we better going; It's almost 9:15."

The rest of the day was pretty much a blur after that. You had wolfed down your breakfast, got changed fairly quickly (Going for comfortable, almost baggy clothes to help you deal with the long plane ride ahead of all three of you) and were fully packed and ready to go by 9:50 AM thanks to packing up all of your newly-clean clothes the night before.

The ride out to San Francisco International Airport was... Well, something, as the paparazzo covering "The Infinite Match" were now out in full force and set a tone for the rest of the day; If it weren't for the surprising lack of traffic, it would've been a nightmare having to deal with them today. Thankfully, nothing was amiss through baggage claims, all of those damn security checks and filling out all of the necessary paperwork needed to confirm that yes, this your passport and yes, it's fully authentic before boarding the flight to Hawaii that would lead the three of you to Tokyo, Japan... Where Heidern, Saisyu Kusanagi & "Mr. Karate" would also be headed, the next great challenge in your fledgling career.

A rather odd, almost hypnotic graphic starts to show and stream around stock, slightly grainy footage of previous KOF Tournaments for a little bit before a fist breaks through the screen, the brass knuckles it wears being the official logo for "The Infinite match" before the screen fills up with an aging, slightly rough-around-the-edges man (The scar on the right side of his face does it) in an impressive-looking suit and tie sitting next to a rather attractive young woman in a demure dress, the two of them sitting at a desk in with a large, transparent globe with dots on it (To signify locations that are hosting KOF: IM matches of course) as the music dies down.

"It's just past the hour here on FightCenter and I'm Robert McKellen" he says, a slightly Scottish accent on his voice. "First, today's headlines:"

An graphic of "Mr. Karate" with his arms crossed with the tagline "Oyaji Team: Do these guys still have it?" pops up to McKellen's right as he starts to give the lead-in to the fight results. "The third fight of this Year's KOF started late last night in the wilds of Australia, as The Cosplay Team looked to upset the favored Oyaji Team."

After a brief pause to take a sip of water, McKellen adds "For now, The Oyaji Team are the tentative victors and will face The Women's Team in Tokyo, Japan in five day's time, thought that is subject to the Cosplay Team's appeal being brought and reviewed by the KOF Committee."

"Thankfully, no one was seriously injured in the blast, though due to the lack of official scoring monitors and lights, the fight was ultimately called in favor of "The Kenka Banchou Team", helped in no small part by the dogged determination shown by Mizoguchi to stand up before the end of the Ten-Count."

"Alright, alright welcome everybody to today's Squared Circle, I'm your moderator Will Brexton and we'll begin today's discussion with the very first match of this year's tournament: Katja Hartkern made history by being the first KOF Rookie to ever score a "One-Character-Victory" in their first match when she went up against "The Soul of The Streets Team" on Tuesday and while there's no question that she had capitalized on an almost wide-open defense, the question overall is was Katja THAT impressive? Or were The Souls of the Streets just THAT bad?"

"They were just that bad man" Leeroy says right off the bat as you take a sip of your "Anti-Champagne". "I mean really, I don't see the" he starts to say, then gets flustered from giggles on either side of the table before saying "Listen man, listen awright? OK, OK, she got a perfect on Heavy D!, paid off the crowd to have her win that RDIKULOUS dance-off against Duck King and dunked Lucky Glauber into the water-"

And that's when the other shoe dropped.

You did a classic "Spit-Take" as your eyes widened at this illiterate clown's off-hand remark and frantically turned up the volume, bolting upright from your bed to hear more about this potential PR Disaster in the making.

To put into terms the average person could understand, you're mad enough that steam could very well be coming out of your ears and figure that Michael Hartkern's probably spinning in his grave right now (Well, urn you suppose; Not that it makes a difference or anything).

Your glass breaks through your fingers as the two of them keep arguing over what Bruce Leeroy calls "The Biggest Fluke since Kyo Kusanagi" (which incidentally leads into the next topic of discussion: "What's up with Kyo?") but you shut of the TV and stand up straight, your right hand glowing green with energy and a murderous intent...

Which, after a few more silent breaths and slowly counting backwards from 10, goes away. The rage honestly doesn't though; You could probably steal this rig and go on a 5-state killing spree right now if you had the nerve...

It's never elaborated on what Jean-Claude's connections to NESTS and to the Orochi legend are. Katja was being harrassed for as viciously as she was because at the time, she was Kyokugen. When she was expelled and laid low in Robert's apartment, the harrassment stopped (except when Bizuki nearly killed her at Lee Pai Long's parlor).

Not like you actually try to go ahead with any of them or anything; That's why you pay out your ass for therapy sessions... But you can't help but feel angry about how a woman you've only gone out with once and hated your guts has such a hold on you. Maybe that last quack you fired was right; Maybe you DO have a fetish for trying to acquire things you don't have or need... And let's get real here; The last thing you'd need is having a girlfriend who STILL doesn't realize that she's a walking, talking weapon of mass destruction made from all kinds of spliced DNA that about a hundred different organizations would kill themselves to have, least of all whatever that "New NESTS" project one of your spies reported to you is.

I don't normally bad-mouth QM's outside of /QTG/, but yeah, that's what it felt like when I was there that night. That said, I think Weasel's put it behind him and toys with more "Fatal" consequences in Dream Sequences. NOTHING can change what happened in the past though.

Hell, I can't even get Pic Related colored in the Quest-Related Drawthreads... It almost makes me wonder what would've happened if one of the other original characters was the MC instead...?

That was one of the other complaints about the quest: Katja herself is meant to be a major standaout who makes all the other KOF women look bland and boring by comparison (huge, black skin, muscular, scarred, all-around built like an amazon), and yet she's somehow managed to surround herself with characters who make HER look boring by comparison (notably Fiona and Tsuyako).

Yeah... Nah. She's the weakest of the bunch IMHO and too much is going on with her character as far as backstory (Trying to tie-in KOF:MI, Real Bout Fatal Fury & Samurai Shodown together just feels really convoluted).

Also, she stole her laugh from Pic Related and that just seems... Meh, I guess. It's why I see her fitting into the MI series all too well.

I want to complain, but they all feel a hell of a lot more inspired than whatever SNKP thought up for Nameless & Ash Crimson IMHO.

The lazier ones to me are Tsuyako and Kazunori Kazahaya, because they don't seem to really fit anywhere in the story aside from "QM's Fetish" and "Filler Douchebag" IMHO.
