The sound of a high velocity gatling gun rings out, shooting up at some buildings in the distance...

A metal laugh rings out amongst the hail of gunfire as glass and stone are torn out of the building by the fluid churn of ammunition. The mech comitting to the assault looks visibly different from the others, clad in a dark steel and hyperlight blue aura.

“Start shit, get hit motherfucker!” A strangely disembodied voice rings out from the mech.

With a break as the real explosion's coming, you see a sudden swell of mana in the other world to ignite the next detonation. Locking your eye on the stage, you cast yourself there, just in time as your vision goes black with explosive force turning your head into paste.
A blink, and you feel ill, having to force down the trauma of another near death, taking a knee not far from Marcus's confrontation with the men in some kind of colorful robes. Some parts are blackened from Marcus's wild flailing assault as he strikes again and again, strafing around them in swift bursts of flame and speed only to be blocked with what appears to be minimal effort.
You can't tell exactly who's winning though because it's three against one and they're all occuppied with Marcus. Downstage where Eloc and the others were the grand display hiding away the backstage is ruined, little starbursts in metal and plastic, the exploder must've shot them earlier as well.

A clenched fist, you keep low as you try to recover from the pain, the glowing mech, satisfied with the hell unleashed upon Tony's old location turns back to the crowd. There's an audible static chatter emitted from the mech as they all unleash a series of flares that turn night into day.

I feel paranoid about the flares. Legna can't see, which means she can't stop the mechs from shooting us if they decide to shoot us. I doubt Daedalus would pack his tincans with flares that would blind them, so the real question is whether the mechs are looking at us or not. It sounds like not. I think. At the very least, the awakened mech isn't looking our way. "Painter" is going to be looking our way. It's been a couple months, so that means Camille might be throwing rank 3 or 4 summons at us if she decides to go offensive. Thoughtforms are less inherrantly powerful than mythos, but I still don't like the thought of that.

Kinda metagamey, but extinguishing the flares worked out fine last time we did this.

Ok, so Flora doesn't let us directly magically incorporate mods into animals, but it does let us magically design the mods themselves in such a way that part of their "mundane" function is to install themselves like a symbiote.

I was thinking that with Flora, it would make more sense to design a standard base symbiote frame that would bond to a person and make them planty enough to mod them further without having to design every single mod with the symbiotic workaround and also possibly allow us to use Flora on them directly.
This would make testing on large groups of people easier by making the samples more uniform and reducing the difficulty of designing mods, in addition to helping avoid potential issues caused by introducing multiple symbiotes into a person's body.

You close your eye, and hold your arms out to shield your vision from the light that they cast. With moments to think, you recall your orientation. From the runway, you could slide off back into the crowd.

With a squeeze, you pull at the fire of the flares, only to find that they keep burning. With their brightness you get a flashback to Chemistry class. Only thing that burns that bright on its own- Magnesium as it converts int brittle Magnesium Oxide.

A second cast, and you will to dim the flame and cease the reaction long enough to tumble off of the stage just as a hail of bullets rip down the center. Legna looms at your side, assisting in pushing through the crowd as you walk away from the primary attraction.

Marcus stands up there, unharmed while one of the Chinamen have taken a hit, rolling himself off and away. At the rear of the runway, Emilia and the others slowly get up.

“Goddamnit! I fucking hate bones.” The mech leaps up on the stage, the magic shroud over its body intensifying, “Admin Override: THE BEAST.” The sound of crunching flesh and bones can be heard as the mech forcibly transforms into a four legged form, the gatling gun back mounted, the pile drivers configuring from an arm to centered on its chest, and bone and steel becoming hazardous claws as a monster of flesh and machine unleashes a blood curdling roar as it barrels down the runway at fantastic speed. The chinamen leap, flying from the stage. Marcus smiles at the prospect of challenge, his body converting to flames as he flares forward, swinging a knifehand like an axe of pure molten heat.

The Rage-Beast barrels towards you in the crowd as the flares dim from your interference. Yet, like a stroke of wonder, an enormous striking of paint creates a wall before the beast. Resisting even its explosive roar of frustration as more paint appears as though wicked in by an artist to create a barrier between the beast and the crowd as Marcus and the mutilated mech perform a dance of death, plasma-cutting claws versus a man literally made of fire.

There's more electrical chatter on the air as the other large mechs move into position, forming a defensive line, the black things from before are active again despite having their heads blown out, the subtle clad of Steelgray and Hyperlight blue spoiling their dusky forms as they speed up onto the stage.
The Chinamen that flew off land back at the rear of the stage to grab some of the people in the protosuits. They ignore Eloc as he cowers not too far away.

“Legna!” You call out to draw the Valkyrie's attention, and she slips near for an astral listen.
(Go see who's casting that paint magic, I think that it's someone I know.)

The Valkrie rushes away to the source of the spell, soon relaying that the person's name is Camille. You were right. (She says that it's been a while.)

(Tell her I left the followers.) You say as you bide your time, the dance between Marcus and the Overmech getting more heated as he moves to slice the wraiths with heat, only to find that they're mostly unharmed by the strokes.

“Thermal reconfigure! Easy when an Over's a one-trick pony!” The mechanical beast laughs as the highsonics from the wraiths blares out, forcing Marcus to draw distance out of their range.

The Chinamen get ready to leap away again with some of the proto-suit wearers, yet a snake-like darkness attaches to their stark shadows, forcing them down and immobile, sounds like gunshots erupting as the two left barely dodge, air pressure grazing their flesh, letting out a spray of blood from the friction.

The Cyborg Beast glances at the Chinamen, a sudden burst of chatter and the clad wraiths dart forward at surreal speed, riding in each others' slipstreams as they meld into liquid black from the speed. A disturbing blur of mechanical speed and the flash of blades and the chinamen are forced to defend themselves in vain, limbs falling in sections as the overclocked mechs cut them into meat ribbons.

With the distraction, Marcus takes out a flask and knocks it back.

“Wait, what the fuck are you-” The Beast seems confused for a second until Marcus's flames increase in size and shape, the man's entire body immolating as he slowly smiles, dropping the flask for the metal to knock against the stage “SHIT.”

Marcus surges forward on the trails of flame, like greased lightning as mechanical chatter calls back the wraiths. Too slow, as Marcus divides the metal monster in passing, molten plastics, silicon, and metal following the flow of his passing. The black streaks make it to him, and in a flash of flame he's on the other side of them, with the only change being that their chest cavities are missing.

In the astral you see an immense amount of magic flowing into the man, converting straight into the power of fire. In the real, smoke billows out of his form as he looks out to the Rage-Beast as it burns through the painted ward.

(She says that it will break soon unless she paints more strokes.) Legna relays from the painter.

You feel like you've cooled off more than a bit, yet the pain is still persistent in your body. “You gonna do something about that?” Marcus points out over the crowd, body still alight, a stench emanating that you can now smell, like burning gasoline.

He looks to the others that were put out of commission, with the intervention of the wraiths, they're all present and accounted for, if not covered in bloodspray.

No, when it appears, it seems nearly as mundane as the mech until the steel and hyperlight blue coat it. “---- ALL THIS SHIT!”

The mech pulls the trigger, and multiple layers of steel-gray paint are struck before the gun, shattering with the sound of steel as it detonates through all but a desperate last.

Marcus makes to move, slicing the mech's head off as it lets out a series of bleating curses. “What the ----?! What the ---- do you mean unauthorized?! It's my ----ing gun you god----- ----s! Screw your bull-” You silence it with a fiend. So fucking annoying.

The rage-beast Busts through, the painted barrier, putting itself through the hole as it climbs through, large burning canines dripping with molten concrete as it glares at you, civilians fleeing after the first one suffers a drip of the lava and screams out in pain.

You wrestle with the monsters mana as it resists you, preparing for the destruction breath that is its Fiend.

“I demand a contract!” You say in desperation, and the beast pauses for a moment as the burning pupilless eyes seem to consider the plight. It is but for a fraction of a second, a moment that could be an eternity. The maw opens up again and unleashes the scorching fiend-ray just as Marcus strikes the inferno.

Doubling over back into your own body, you feel very real pain as you snap awake, screaming into your own room, fire exploding along with walls as you thrash about at the foreign entity. The bed bursts into flames and you roll out of the bed, hitting the floor before you come to your senses and cease the flames.

It's when the burns go through the layers of skin, into the flesh, and finally, char the bone. They are 100% mortality. Though Xix's blood cocktail and attention saved his life.

Who would have a solution for this? For a time you wrack your brain. There's Morgan, yet there's a clear limit to her healing powers. Lore says that she took Arthur to Avalon for healing. Apparently the last that was ever seen of Arthur. Who knows what she might demand though.
Faust might know of some possibility if he's really well learned... Would he give away that knowledge for free?
Then there's Gaia. She healed you before... It's possible... And she asked for nothing to do it...
