You are Nomad, the leader of Able Squad aka Unable Squad, a team of seven misfit girls. Your current Prime Host is Lieutenant Rodney Watkins, a veteran of the Cryptid Wars. Due to memory loss you aren't exactly sure of what you are.

Your squad was one of thirteen that was sent on missions intended solely to cause massive collateral damage, all somehow ordered by one Major Gregori Thomo; a man who's execution was broadcasted live to the galaxy three years ago.
While Command is conducting numerous investigations, Able Squad has been given a "vacation" until 10 AM tomorrow on Orbital Cityscape Little Downtown, a small city for RDBFO personnel.

Currently you are in your first-floor apartment, looking through e-mails on your ''HegemOSy V1.06" computer in an attempt to find out about yourself. Sometime you plan on visiting the other members of the squad, starting with Veronika.

...

You keep looking through the rest of the e-mails.
Another from Shizi in response to a query from you about some details on the workings of "magitech". Another for the "Read Later" folder.
One's from Suko asking about your opinion of tornadoes.
Another is from Hazuko, asking for input on a bunch of lyrics for various songs she's thought up for when she starts a band. Lyrics range from rather depressing to "detonating rainbows of LOOOOVE!".
From Veronika some brief thanks about helping her get an upgrade.
Three e-mails from Vivel, starting with "RE: I need to ask". You click only for an input password menu to appear. Same for the other two.
Great, password locked e-mails. You put them in "Read Later" anyway.

The rest are just more reports.
>>
>>35387934
You exit the e-mail program, looking at the Desktop.
Trash (empty), HegExplorer, HegeChat, Hegemon-Scan, HegEmail which you just exited, and a folder labeled "Docs".
You open Docs, two more internal folders, "Reports" and "Personal". Reports are just a bunch of some after-action report drafts, nothing of real use without spending a good couple hours looking through all of them. Personal brings up a password prompt when clicked.
Great. You try the HegeChat program, an instant messaging service. History shows many conversations with various members of Able. All password-locked.
Annoyed, you open up the Task Manager, wondering if there's some process you could close to get around this. You're rewarded with another password prompt.
You spend a couple more minutes looking through folders not found on the desktop and find either nothing or more locked files.

You glance at the system clock. 7:35 PM. Sighing, you shut off the computer and get up from the chair.
What next...

[ ]Go visit the others, starting with Veronika.
[ ]Turn on the TV.
[ ]Take a quick shower.
[ ]Check out the camping tent on the bedroom floor.
[ ]See if the kitchen has a snack or two.
[ ]Examine everything in the art studio.

You can do all the choices, each takes time though.

You need to take a shower. Decon aboard the ship got rid of any smell and actual contaminant from the sewers, but it's no substitute for a shower and not meant to be. You still got some dirt here and there.

[x]Turn on the TV.

But first, might as well check the tube for a minute. Picking up the remote from the couch, you press the power button. The wall-embedded flatscreen TV comes to life in an instant, no flash or sound from it starting up.
"Today Cryptid Hunters slew the dreaded Loch-Trezz, the last descendent of the Loch-Ness Behemoth. Having tracked it down to the Strait of Dover, it was engaged with weapons emplacements aboard the naval vessels of the Hunters." "It was one hell of a beast, twelve good men lost taking it down. Must have been headed for the White Cliffs, as we know from the wars Cryptids like going to famous things."
With a button press you change it to the next channel.
"Terran investigators have lended their aid in the efforts to discover the truth of the horrible events that occurred mere hours ago. Leaders from around the galaxy have denounced the attacks,"
Next. Comedy show, a dumb high-school romance, a documentary on fences. You change it back to the news.
Considering turning it off while you're in the shower, you look at the remote and notice a button with directional arrows labeled "LOCAT". You press it, and jump as the TV promptly slides backwards into the wall and a panel closes down on where it was. A moment later you can hear it from the kitchen. Another press, in the bathroom.
Listening to the news while showering doesn't sound too bad.

[x]Take a quick shower.

On the wall next to the shower curtains is a touchscreen panel. Tap, turns on with a few options. You tap the one saying "Preferred" and the showerhead promptly begins emitting water. You undress, taking off your military outfit and sliding off your boxer shorts.

>cont (this is a bit long)
>>
>>35391046
You take a look in the mirror. A fully shaven yet rugged face greets you, brown hair and eyes. Your body looks to be in good shape, some nice muscles. On your side is a large gash-like scar and parts of your upper legs have clearly had skin grafted onto them.
Sighing, you move into the shower. You let yourself relax for a half-minute or so, listening to the broadcast from the TV that was moved into the bathroom.
"Several terrorist organizations such as the Anti-Machine Union have claimed responsibility. However, a famed military analyst and advisor who was at present at one of the massacres has claimed that the tactics and equipment of the attackers bore resemblance to the Terran military. What do you have to say for this?" "At this time we have no comment on these allegations." As you start washing your hair you recognize the mechanical voice of Grand Senator Goroth.
"Pardon me Grand Senator but this isn't an allegation! This is-" "A thinly-veiled accusation, spoken with an expression and facial movements that results in a match from my database as indicating that one is concealing hate towards the other speaker."

You step out of the shower, having finished. Realizing that you haven't set out clothes for yourself in the bathroom, you walk out into the bedroom, changing the TV's location to the bedroom with the remote you placed on the sink.
"Sir, my emotional state is irrelevant." "In this case it is not."
You turn off the TV, tossing the remote onto the couch. Enough of that.
Large drawer under the bed has clothes, you put them on without really looking.

[x]Check out the camping tent on the bedroom floor.
You move to the camping tent, set up near the TV. It's colored a dark green-blue. Finding a zipper, you open it up.
>cont
>>
>>35391071

Inside is nothing but a sleeping bag, a large blanket, and three pillows. Crouching, you move inside and sit down before closing the zipper.
Safe. That's what you feel, safe. Something within you associates it with complete security. Everything outside is kept at bay. Nothing can hurt you.
Putting these odd feelings aside, you look in the sleeping bag, search the blanket, feel up the pillows. Nothing. That's all that's in here.

Noting the calming effect the tent has on you, you unzip and leave with a small amount of reluctance.

[x]See if the kitchen has a snack or two.
Feeling slightly hungry, you move into the kitchen. Cupboards have everything from tortilla chips to marshmallow bags to cookies to more spices and herbs than you'll ever need. Fridge is full of drinks, milk, alchohol, water, little bit of soda, orange juice, so on. You settle for some water, grabbing a bottle and slamming half of its contents. Some food here and there, but mostly fruits. You want something with a little more substance at the moment.
Closing the fridge, you look through the cupboards again.

An opened box catches your eye: "HegemoBars™! Ultra-Nutritional and now with new Dynamic Taste Nanomachines™ for an always stunning taste!"
You reach in and take out a wrapper, containing two snack bars. You tear off the wrap and toss it before biting into one.
....HOLY SHIT THIS TASTES GOOD.
You savagely devour both HegemoBars and eat through another three packs before stopping yourself. You got things to do.

You feel a bit fuller and somewhat more energized. Excellent.
Part of you briefly worries about the implications of technology that can make anything taste like incredible and what said technology can do once inside a person, but you push it out of your mind. One more place to check out before you leave.
>>
>>35391102
[x]Examine everything in the art studio.

You start with the weapon, looking at the workstation and carefully checking the double-barreled shotgun. Empty. You examine it, noting the ghost-like figures painted on it.
On the side of a barrel the phrase "Trust others as you please."
What's that even supposed to mean?

You look at the bookcase. What few books there are consist of modern treatises on spiritual entities, texts about parasites, a novella-length essay on the possibility of sentient viruses, theory-compilations about memetics, a long manual on firearms, and finally a very large tome about reported, alleged, and suspected possessions and bodyjackings.

Wait, there's one more item. A binder, inside is a collection of documents and notes on exorcism, banishing rituals, and surgical parasite removal.

"Seems I've been researching on how to kill myself-it..."
You laugh.

You examine the poster. A grinning human (male judging by the face) with an long white-colored tongue shaped zig-zag pattern that reaches to its feet. Its eyes are bloodshot. Nothing else to see, and you currently don't feel like tearing it down to see if anything's behind it.

Lastly, the paintings. Several are of creatures, some of battles.
The biggest one is of a blood-covered, faceless man in a coat moving through a crowd of outlandish people, many of them carrying weapons and wearing odd outfits. The man is tightly holding a mirror the size of himself, looking at his reflection. The reflected face is the same aside from a few tears pouring down from where his eyes would be and around his reflection floats over a hundred pairs of eyes.
On a second look you realize that everyone in the crowd is missing their eyes.

...It's 8:04, so you might wanna look at the other painting another time.
So...
[ ]Go drop in on Veronika first as you planned.
Or on second thought, you'll first visit...
[ ]Jezori
[ ]Suko
[ ]Teza
[ ]Hazuko
[ ]Shizi
[ ]Vivel

I'll try to shorten things from now on.

[ ]Go drop in on Veronika first as you planned.
Stick to the plan.
>>
>>35391170
>Seems I've been researching on how to kill myself-
or rather, researching how someone else might try to kill you.

or maybe your memory loss is due to a prior incarnation committing mental "suicide" which left you a blank slate.
>>
>>35391170
lots of characters and we are pretty new. can you include a short description next to each name?

for now i would go with veronica because i like to stick to plans

if she isn't the hacker-wizard than we should visit the hacker wizard after veronica. and get her to unlock our computer password protected stuff
>>
>>35391518
I'll just give brief summaries of them for now. I'll do descriptions in the future.

>Veronika
The squad's sniper. Her lower torso has been replaced with eight cybernetic spider-like legs. Does not get along with Shizi.
>Jezori
Squad's alchemist and shotgunner. Loads flasks into her quad-shotgun that doubles as a grenade launcher.
>Suko
Squad's heavy gunner and "Valkyrie", meaning she has metal wings which she can fly with.
>Teza
Psionic mechanic, uses an assault rifle. Refers to you as "Boss".
>Hazuko
Loli bard, carries a large and heavy guitar around. Sings "dun-duun-dun!" and similar sounds constantly. Has surprising strength.
>Shizi
Hacker-wizard/mage. Has multiple boyfriends and is into ERPing. Does not get along with Veronika.
>Vivel
Scout and assassin that's constantly falling asleep. Has an "electromagentic vibrokatana" and a machine pistol. Refers to you as her "Lord". An e-mail conversation you had with her was password-locked.
>>
>>35391842
thanks, that is plenty of info so far, enough to link names to people from previous episodes.

in that case go visit shizi
>>
Well, need a tiebreaker.
Veronika or Shizi?
>>
>>35392123
If Shizi's boyfriends are only virtual, then Shizi.
If not, then Veronika.
>>
>>35392306
>>35392306
Veronika it is then. Shizi don't meet them much though and has little loyalty to them.

[x]Go drop in on Veronika first as you planned.

You walk out of your apartment, door clicking as it locks behind you. You set your destination on your PDA's "Unable to Locate" App to Veronika's location, at her home.

...
Her home's a redecorated warehouse apparently.
Dimly recalling an accidental shooting (by who you don't remember) that resulted from not doing so, you knock.
"Veronika?" You hear a familiar sound of skittering.
"Enter."
You open the and enter, closing it behind you. The warehouse is mostly empty, Veronika seems to have made her home into one of the corners. Bed, shelf, desk with computer, a bunch of workstations upon which a few mechanical legs rest.
"So...sir. Why made you come here?" The voice comes from above. She's on the ceiling of course. Not looking up and instead walking forward to her corner, you reply.
"Wanted to talk, ask a few things. Memory loss is rather annoying."
"Understandable. But mind if I know who I'm talking to?"
"To me of course."
"No no no, you're going to tell me who the fuck I'm talking to. If you can't give me some kind of answer then get out. Say you don't know and I'll pull this trigger."
"I'm...

[ ]"Your superior officer."
[ ]"Nomad."
[ ]"Rodney Watkins."
[ ]"A monster."
[ ]"Your friend."
[ ]"A being beyond post-human comprehension."
[ ]"The person who will shoot first."
[ ]"Another human being."
>>
>>35393411
>[ ]"Your superior officer."
>[ ]"A monster."
But most importantly
>[ ]"Another human being."
And right now, I'd like us to ignore all that and just be
>[ ]"Your friend."
>>
>>35393411
[ ]"Nomad."
Just the truth. Because until our memories come back, we're nothing to her.
>>
>>35393541
We're not a human being and considering the setting, 'human being' is a very loaded phrase.
>>
Hate to say this, but tiebreaker needed.
Well I could decide to solve ties on my own from now on if you want but I'd very much rather not do that.

>>35393619
Changing to this then from >>35393541

[x] ”Nomad."

“Nomad.”
“Good to hear some honesty.” More skittering. You keep walking to the corner where she keeps her things.
“You know Nomad, you’ve actually been a lot better lately.” Her voice eases up a little.
“What’d I improve from?” You ask with a slight smile.
“Well, at one point for a whole damn month where you were pretty damn hysteric about not being what you were. You insisted that you were 100% Rodney.“
“What was the worst I’ve been?” By now you’ve reached her little corner.
“There was that time you jumped into Suko. She’s fucking weird enough, you together…fucking hell. No idea what you, her, you-her were even saying and I don’t want to ever know.”

You take a seat on a couch.
Veronika drops from the ceiling. You note the absence of her rifle, either she never had it or more likely she put it in the rafters somewhere.
Her dark blue eyes gaze at you. Not mechanical like Suko’s despite having a more mechanical body.
“…I want to see him.”
“Who? Rodney.”
“Yes. Detach from him Nomad.”
“I don’t remember how.”
“Doesn’t mean you can’t try.”

[ ]Try to detach.
[ ]Decline.

[x]Try to detach.
"This is going to pleasant..." You sarcastically remark.
You close your eyes for a moment before deciding to keep them open. You can concentrate without closing them.
You breathe. You feel. You feel yourself. Comfortable somewhat, secure. No more for a bit.
You find what you're looking for: a grip. Ten of them. Soft yet there.
You release.

Pain not dissimilar from using rarely-used human muscles fills you. You feel a sudden massive deprivation of feeling, thought, and strenghth. Your vision weakens for a few moments and when it returns you're looking at Veronika from a slightly higher angle. She looks repulsed.
You look to your left and right. Five dark grey-white segmented legs on plus a wing resembling that of a manta ray on each side. You can't get a view of your main body, but your entire being seemed to visually flicker.
You look down and meet a pair of brown eyes meets whatever you have for vision.
"Evening." A rough voice comes from the head you're on.
"Yes." You respond, your distorted voice sounding slightly like a demon out of a typical horror film. The chittering noises you make with your jaw don't help.
Veronika sighs.
"I'll never get used to this fucking parasite-thing..."
And that's all for tonight, my eyes are dying.
>>35395992
I had to multitask most of the time due to unexpected events. Getting tired too quickly is my other major problem.
>>
>>35396054
And either I or 4chan's formatting deleted the return after the last sentence. I continue to live up to my name.
