You also had spent the couple days you were resting trying to analyze everything you could from Charlotte's fighting style. It was pretty similar to the Meijin's, honestly, in that she just went straight in to get shit done. Her battle with Fellini was particularly frantic, with the Krimson Kampfer and the Rinascita bouncing around the field in a lethal dance. At times you swore they were just teleporting from spot to spot rather than actually moving. However, the game changer came near the end, when you saw the Kampfer glow blue again, as azure flame leaked out from under its armor. It then blasted forward with a burst of speed, dodging the Rinascita's buster rifle shots. However, Fellini stayed put, intending to shred the the Kampfer apart with his head and shoulder vulcans. You see the guns blaze...

...and nothing happens. You blink, wondering if Charlotte had dodged them, but the Kampfer maintains its course, tackling the Rinascita, and you see the blue flames spread to the Rinascita. The Rinascita kicks free of the Kampfer's hold, but it's still on fire, to the point where the armor begins to melt. Seeing that the fight was lost, Fellini opted to yield, giving Charlotte the victory.

You wondered what the hell that was. Holly was also watching, and she hypothesized it was some kind of system that generated massive amounts of heat. Those vulcan bullets that Fellini fired earlier didn't miss, but simply evaporated. It made sense, considering how the Rinascita spontaneously combusted like that, and why Charlotte was so careful to recover the Kampfer after the battle. Unfortunately, neither of you had any guesses as to the true nature of that system.

Well, enough of that, you had a festival to go enjoy!

"Come on Holly, let's go." You say, heading for the door.

"Wait! Just... one... more... upgrade!" Holly whines, still at her work bench.

"I don't see any problem with her accompanying us." Lucina shrugs and turns to you. "Do you?"

Of course, what you mean is the original 1:1 Gundam statue that was normally located in Odaiba. However, they moved it the stadium here every year for the festival, which was really cool. Also, a couple years ago, they unveiled the 1:1 version of Char's original Zaku.

And here, you can see the two statues, towering above the festival grounds. There is also the 3rd statue, which you recognize as the original Wing Gundam, standing proudly in a triangle formation with the other two statues.

"Holy shit." You breathe.

"It's quite the sight, isn't it?" Karen nods.

"Man, I was hoping it'd be a Kampfer." Charlotte pouts.

"I don't think War In the Pocket is THAT popular." Jake shakes his head.

In VMQ, Charlotte's father Jager Sturmfuhrer was a noble. He was also the head of a PMC called the Demons of Randgriz.
In other words, he was the Demon Lord.

Explosives might be useful for their splash damage but she'll be pretty fast so that's iffy at best.

I'm really flattered you guys not only remembered it (especially it's old "spindly" form, but that at least two of you have taken such a shine to it! This is an amazingly fun hobby and I want to thank Merc and his quest once more for "forcing" my hand into it.

for it's final form, I could, in theory, put 10 arms on it, then another 8 due to Battle Arms. I however do not yet have that many gunpla at my disposal.

I've only managed to get away with it for so long because they're hardly at home anyways. If they're here it means that they've finally figured out I enrolled in the tournament."

"Well, what's the worst that can happen, then?" You ask.

"Well, they can forcibly pull me from the tournament." Charlotte sighs. "I'm already registered, so they can't revoke my position, but if they drag me back home, it'll pretty much be an automatic forfeit as a no-show. Do you know how bad that would be?"

You nod. Not only would it cheat the crowd out of a hyped up battle they were expecting, it would also make Charlotte look bad.

"Why do they hate Gunpla so much, anyways?" You ask.

"Because it's just for 'losers' and 'children'." Charlotte rolls her eyes. "And the want me to become a successful businesswoman like them and take over the company, so I don't have time for childish stuff. They just don't get it. "

As a group, you all head over to the group of tents set aside exclusively for people to build their newly bought kits. One section was reserved for people newly inducted into the hobby, and you could see professional trainers stalking the aisles, looking for anybody that might need their help. In fact, you're quite surprised to see the Meijin among them. Then again, maybe you shouldn't be so surprised. He was also a guy who really loved the hobby.

"Is that the Meijin?" Amy blinked.

"Looks like it." Jake nods.

"Well, helping new hobbyists is technically part of his duties." Karen notes.

You also see that, sure enough, Ral was here, standing in a corner observing everything going on. None of the new hobbyists seem to realize his importance, but you have the feeling he preferred it that way. There was also a younger, middle aged man standing beside him, a big grin on his face.

"Do you have any suggestions, Mr. Ral?" Charlotte asks, a bit of pleading in her voice. "I don't hate my parents but.... the way they treat my hobby just pisses me off so much!"

"Huh? Ah, yes!" Ral's companion nods and shakes your hand. "My apologies for not introducing myself earlier. I'm Takeshi Iori! Pleasure to make your acquaintance!"

"You know what, I think I have just the trick!" Takeshi takes Holly aside to show her some of his tricks.

Lucina then approaches and tugs at your sleeve.

Fellini sets down his Rinascita, while Lucina brings out her Exia Cuirassier.

BEGINNING PLAVSKY PARTICLE DISPERSAL

FIELD: PLAINS

Both the Cuirassier and Rinascita start on opposite sides of a flat field with tall grass blowing in the wind. You frown, as this sort of terrain would favor Fellini. Lucina manages to get the first move, blast forward with the Cuirassier, its GN Drive whining as it propels the Gunpla over the open ground. Fellini, meanwhile, backs off and fires off several beam rifle shots, which Lucina deftly dodges. Fellini attempts to correct his shots, but Lucina shows she's got a trick up her sleeve. Her Cuirassier's side sheaths open up, and fire their sheathed swords like projectiles. Fellini, caught by surprise, barely dodges the two launched swords, but loses his beam rifle in the process, which is sliced into three pieces.

Without his primary ranged weapon, Fellini resorts to his beam saber. Lucina draws two GN Blades and the two clash. GN blade meets beam saber while Fellini uses his beam cloak to tangle up the Cuirassier's other arm, leaving both Gunpla in a dangerous stalemate.

It seems like Lucina finally makes up her mind. Her normally stoic expression is betrayed by the slightest of smirks, as you hear her quietly say two simple words.

"Trans am."

The Cuirassier suddenly glows bright red as its GN Drive powers up. A sudden kick sends the Rinascita away, stunned, while at the same time, the Cuirassier's sword binder explodes, sending its stored swords flying out into the air.

And the Cuirassier flies, so fast that multiple afterimages of it begin to appear as it flies about, snatching swords as they fall from the sky and repeatedly slashing them into the Rinascita, before delivering one final blow from above and landing on the ground in one knee, its swords falling into a perfect circle around it as the Rinascita explodes in the air.

"And we have a winner!" The Judge yells happily. She comes over and plops the box set DVD into Lucina's arms.

"Erm... can I also have that one, over there?" Lucina points to an innocuous stuffed animal of a popular mascot sitting on a nearby shelf.

"Sure!" The Judge nods. "On the house!"

You don't remember a time where you saw Lucina smile so much.

"Man, that girl really is something." Fellini chuckles as he walks up to you. "Then again, she was lucky I was fighting consecutive battles. The Rinascita's parts were starting to wear out and handling was getting sluggish."

"Yeah, sure, whatever helps you sleep at night." You laugh.

"Jack, we won!" Lucina says happily.

"YOU won." You grin. "That was some awesome fighting out there. When did you unlock Trans Am?"

"Well, you're not the only one who who's good a building!" Lucina huffs, and then sighs a bit. "Amy and Karen helped me out with it."

"Hey, no harm in letting others help." You laugh.
