(Just a few notes, to make sure no one gets confused. This Quest takes place in the XCOM universe, this does not mean you will have to, or need to, join XCOM itself. There are a few additions to the XCOM universe, factions, powers, technology and tactics. The expansion that will receive the most attention will be Psionic powers, the following "chargen" choices will establish your initial abilities and powers.)

You were gifted, that was what they called you. Whether it was because in the end they felt like an idiot child in comparison, or perhaps that at three you started correcting your teacher's spelling during nursery. At five you could have easily taught the lessons at primary school,

But, you were held back. Your parents wanted you to socialize in school, your teachers told you that the entire class had to learn at the same pace. You didn't really mind at the time, but...

>Prolonged contact with the other kids... Didn't go well. You found them in hide in seek, you always won at the games they played, you always knew the petty little secrets they passed around. You knew the definition of a bully all too fast.

>Everything went well, almost too well. It was almost too easy to become friends with everyone in the school, popular above all, even those who were jealous of your knowledge, popularity and gifts, folded under your presence.

>They kept their distance, you kept yours. Your breaks ended up with you playing with insects, animals, toys, especially Lego. You really fucking loved Lego.

Things didn't go well, you knew that at the time. Your teachers and parents made it all too obvious, almost tearing your ears off with the weight of their words. But, you did not care for their words as much as your Lego. In your break times you created sprawling structures, massive cities and expansive infrastructure. You once even created a replica of Big Ben.

Although the use of everyone's Lego for such extravagant structures was not exactly welcome, The teachers were perfectly accepting of it. They even took pictures, when you didn't wave them away. They then put up those pictures and claimed the entire class created them, praising their genius. You grumbled a little at that part.

However, they noted your interest in animals at the time. There was a small rabbit hole near the school field, when you were not making absurd infrastructure, this was your place of rest. The Rabbits were unnaturally attracted to you, even letting you pet them and feed them. The birds as well. Due to your interest and magnificent structures, they bought more Lego (Which you used, extensively) and supplied you with rabbit feed and seeds. And also asked you to look after the Garden during your break times, you had a lot on your plate, but you managed it.

Bullying was scarce during this time, it was very enjoyable. The years passed, but soon something came up...

>You found a lover, despite your exile, one came to you at the age of Nine. Although it wasn't very serious, it meant a lot to you. It also meant a lot to you when they broke the relationship off, the feelings that plagued you then would never be forgot.

>At the age of Nine you witnessed a lightning strike almost hit you. The way it struck, how it came about, the sound and the feeling, all were embedded in your mind forever.

>You began to learn how to sculpt, at first with mud, shifting it with your hands. Later it was with wood and chisels.

>You were let loose at a junk yard. When the sun had set, you had created an engine

Your parents had decided that fateful day to let you roam free, it was your ninth birthday, and the small village had a good reputation. You didn't really have anyone to see or anywhere to go, so you explored. The rabbits went with you, guiding and exploring beyond their boundaries as you skipped through the countryside.

Eventually, you came upon a blight on the land, a huge and expanding junkyard, filled with metal. You were ecstatic, as you jumped into the garbage of others, you only saw treasures. After hours and hours of toiling, the rabbits went home, the men ceased their works, silence fell over the junkyard as you fitted together old parts, new parts and fixed the damaged.

The sun had almost set, but that did not stop you. After all, the engine you fixed was attached to a generator, allowing you to connect it up to light. You could work all night like this, with a smile you wiped away the grease upon your cheek, only to hear calls of your name upon the horizon. Abandoning your work, you quickly sought our your parents who came for you.

After a few arrangements with the men working at the Junk yard, you were allowed visits in the future. You loved your parents.

But, as you were moving up to secondary school...

>It happened [Initiate Quest & stop chargen, age 11]

>You entered high school, unlike before people accepted you. More than that, you were massively popular, it was an overwhelming change. Your parents blamed it on hormones.

>You decided you didn't want to go to school, forcing your parents to keep you homeschooled. You had no trouble with it, but your parents worried for your future in employment

>As you entered high school, your lover swept you off of your feet, it was a strange and fast relationship, which made it all the more bitter when you two broke up..

Can this be modified to say that our studies and grades fell short because we spent far too much time in the junkyard?

Or how about that we dropped out and were taken on as a scavenger, having gotten a pretty sweet job working with all the junk and cherry-picking/fixing up things to be sold?

Let me state this quite clearly. Even without education, a cursory half an hour of research would bring you up to the level of high school with ease, or a single class. When you start getting to university level however, you'd have to at least participate in one subject's class.

From the first moment you stepped into the high school, all eyes were upon you. It was a strange feeling, a new experience. It inspired strange feelings from within you, as every man, woman and teacher wished to attract your attention, in class, in sport, and during your breaks. Your machines at home fell into disrepair as you spent more and more time with your friends.

Your parents were pleased, your former school teachers were surprised. Something seemed a little off about a few of the people who you were friends with. They spent more time with you than their lovers, strange as it was, you gave it no thought. Drunk on the pleasure of popularity, you indulged yourself.

Bullying was out of the question, as the practical queen of the high school, they could only lie in the shadows under you. A dark, corrupting happiness filled your heart at the sight of their envy, it was your power, your words that had attracted your friends. And if they ever would dare to oppose you, you could bring well deserved retribution upon those who had laughed at you for being such a loner in primary school, those who had scored you, left you alone. But, it never happened, and it only solidified your arrogance.

At fourteen, almost all the way through high school...

>It happened [Initiate Quest & stop chargen, age 14]

>Your parents persuaded your teachers to advance you, passing your tests early you graduated high school at 14.

>A certain club had attracted your eye, the gardening club. In it you made an expansive garden, filled with various different species. Include a Y or an N, if those species included illegal ones.

>You founded a mechanics club, and decided to re-double your efforts in machinery.

>You went a little too far during a party. And by a little, you mean you managed to total a house, three cars and collectively drink enough to satisfy a whale.

It was a sobering experience and caused us to re-examine who we were. We had power, yes, but was this all it was good for? We were a maker, not a destroyer, nor a corrupter. We should be making things better for everyone, not tearing them down for our own sake and the pleasure we had always had in creation had never vanished, it had only been forgotten for a little while

I think our abilities are geared more towards understanding and comprehension than actual control and manipulation. We have friends because we know what to say to get them on our side. We grow plants because we can see the signs that they need tending. We build engines because we know how all the parts fit together into the proper shape.
>>
>>35351285
But.. I wanted to grow genetic mods/machines for people.. and create an army of super solders... dedicated to building/growing a new better world... All is lost.

The other option is obviously that while other people are thinking and feeling like us they just do not have the same extremes to reach. We can go further than anyone, in any direction. We can do more, feel more, endure more.

But with all this swinging around from one place to another or going to just one extreme and holding there, do we still remain ourselves in doing so? No one can truly answer this because any thoughts about this are either theoretic or done from the point of view of others and not one of our own.

We must endeavor to know ourselves now, before we will loose ourselves without ever realizing who we truly are.

You were thankful it wasn't your party. Well, not really, you strung an older guy called Dave into doing it. Even when you were apprehended by the police with an (already lit) molotov cocktail, you managed to get out of it. You put it down to luck, as you threw it through the next window of the nearby car. The destruction around you was immense, the noise and the sound filled your senses and mind, the ecstasy and pleasure coursed through you.

It was.....strange, you could almost feel a connection to those around you in the almost rioting mob. Your memories were slightly disjointed, some of them you were sure weren't even yours, you put that down to a little excess alcohol and some substances you may have touched. Sexually, you managed to steer clear, your parents had instilled the older values in you. That however, didn't stop you from watching a few of the party goers from their orgy-like actions, the excess and pleasure only heightening to absurd levels as you watched.

Their hands steered clear of you, but watching their affairs made you flutter inside, heat growing inside your body. But, the police interrupted. Maybe that was why they poured out of the house, some still nude, in anger, destroying cars and burning the nearby house of the one who called them in. You still don't remember who knew they called it in though, wasn't a detail you took ahold of.

Soon after the party, after the adrenaline, arousal and alcohol had filtered through your system. You returned to the scene of the crime. The destruction wrought was clear, and you could feel a hole in your chest as you realized how much was destroyed.

A voice argued within you "It was them"! It called "You are not at fault!"

But another spoke up, telling you to atone.

The dark slick around your heart took the side of the former.

1/2 Sorry for being slow.

One must tear down in order to build! That is the great law of the cosmos!

But we must be certain of what we tear down! Homes and happiness and health and love must NEVER be destroyed! But by tearing down what is broken, flawed, corrupt and evil, we may build better in its place!
>>
>>35351324
huh. This thing actually may put us on the path to figgure out what we are and what we can do about it.

Why go in a nice direction and renounce others when we can realize all of them and gain understanding of our nature and ask why it is so, and with the answer find waits to properly approach said situation.

It spoke whispers into your ears, about the pleasures you had experienced, diverting the troubles of the destruction away, far far away. But, it faced an opponent. Again and again, they battled in your heart, one telling you to atone, to build, to re-examine who you were, to return to the junkyard, make things better. The other argued that the friends you made were all, you should stay with them at the top of your tower, untouchable. Untouchable and in control of others. But most importantly, to enjoy ourselves.

The two voices still argue, even today, about what happened that day. Your actions in the future, will no doubt finally silence the argument once and for all.

>>This next option will advance in years more than before, expect to be breaching into 20s if you choose anything other than ending chargen, Chargen will also give less bonuses to Psionic powers now.

The roof of the world shined green with new stars. The sky was falling, the sky was falling down. The impacts around the school shook the ground. You could feel them in the sky. No. That wasn't right. They could feel YOU. They were coming. For you. It was unfathomable, uncountable, unrecognizable....inhuman. It was inside you.

A scream ripped from your lips, the world around you being repulsed by your rejection of the thing entering your mind. The people around you felt it as well, the scream echoing in their minds, their mouths, their being. Panting with fear, fear for yourself, your family, your people, your feet smashed against the ground. You had to get there, they would take them.

You could hardly breath, smashing through the front door of the school, the strange alien pods were still raining from the sky, each impact rocking you to your core. Your phone, and someone else's phone How did that get there?, both started calling the memorized numbers of your parents, thoughts racing through your mind about the possibilities. You knew they would take them if they had the chance. You knew it took from your mind where you lived. It had found you. But it needed to find you. You could only want to escape.

The feet became many, all panting, all tired, all desperate to save them. The throng of bodies around you surged you forwards, the feeling of their being forcing you forwards, strengthening you. The house was gone. It was gone. They were gone. All gone.

What was once left of your house now remained a hole in the ground, no burning absence, no explosion. Absence. The breath of the many people around you cold only calm you somewhat, as tears streamed down your face. Your mother, your father, your pet rabbits you brought from the primary school. Gone.

You wanted to stay rooted to the spot, to cry, to release your emotions for days on end. But you could not. You needed to do something. In the distance you could feel.....entities approaching.

The second approached from the sky, brazen and unhindered, seen by all, feared by all.

The last approached less brazenly, fast and quick, like a scalpel it tore through the other groups. One who fled from it, the other fought it.

You did not know who they were, or why they were here. But you had to make a choice.

Also, has no-one else noticed how, while every other psychic in the game needs to have their powers awakened at the Psi-lab, we're manifesting abilities from primary school onwards? God damn, we could have a whole other faction at our feet, if this keeps up! A perfect agency to assist XCom, while remaining apart from it.

Cerberus? From.. what? Because I know that as a giant three headed dog that guards Hades... Sooo...

Mass Effect.

Cerberus was a human-allied Spec Ops division that went rogue and started researching hyper-advanced alien technology, eventually becoming enthralled by it.
>>
>>35353286
We are playing with the Long War scenario in mid, right?

If so i would like you to consider readding the genemods from vanilla back in because imho they were awesome. Chameleon substance secreting skin and neural feedback are indeed powerful but as a RP it would put the outside tactical downsides into context, like unwanted secretions stealthing parts of ourselves by reaction or constant feedback whenever psy is detected
>>
>>35353349
Well clearly we'll just have to enthrall it to.. us.. we've got the psychic mojo to make that work for us.

Either way in character we don't know any of this shit yet. We'll see how our interactions with them go and base our choices off of that hopefully.
>>
>>35353352
Long War + Personal modifications.
As for the time? This would be the tutorial mission for XCOM's side
>>
>>35353328
>>35353308
>>35353349
I find exalt to be more interested in the Transhumanism part and the chance to profit from alien tech commercially and political influence, to become the future Kennedy and such dynasties.

In a way they are not incompetent they just are straightforward in their aims, even if they dont state it outright.

Xcom is the effort of nations, one that as on X-com we saw would see itself gutted and lucky not to be disbanded.
>>
>>35353437

>Xcom is the effort of nations, one that as on X-com we saw would see itself gutted and lucky not to be disbanded.
Once they deal with the Aliens.

Dump keyboard.
>>
>>35353328
Mass Effect, a Pro human group that was very cuntish, their only "good" act was reviving Shepard (MC) and giving him a new, improved ship. And also not looking when he/she stole their resources.

They went rouge and started using alium tech to augment themselves, eventually becoming the enemy after over use of the tech, much like EXALT somewhat.
>>
>>35353486
So we may have to bail on Exalt eventually and or.. change it from the inside? Perhaps we'll be a stabilizing influence? Or a disruptive catalyst.. not sure how the votes will go.
>>
Shit, I completely forgot to ask how you want your approach to the EXALT cell to be, especially with your crowd of people.

>Disperse the crowd, go stealthily and alone

>Go with the crowd, arm them with whatever you can, and use them as a weapon

>Keep a few specialists of the group with you, but otherwise stay stealthy and under cover

And

>Get somewhere high so you can observe

>Get in heavy cover, you know there is shooting

>Get in the thick of it as fast as possible, you need to know what's happening
>>
>>35353524
Hopefully not, as OP said, things aren't the same as normal Xcom Long War so hopefully, Exalt are more "Anti-Alien PMC" rather than "nutjob durka durkas with an alien tech fetish"
>>
>>35352930

So if we are a girl we can go with Alexandra, and as a boy we can go with Alexander.

We do not want to get people in a massacre. That being said we are not getting ourselves suicide by unknown combatants either.
>Get somewhere high so you can observe.
Information is vital. We need to know what is going on. If we can help or if we have to evac, and the specific directions and approaches.
Also for some reason i see us using sniper and shotgun combo, and going on covert ops a lot. For some reason.

These are school kids we're talking about. They probably won't be much good... Also, how the hell are they all reacting to this? Are they still in possession of their own minds even? Did we just accidentally puppet our entire year?

When all's said and done, we can still observe from heavy cover and honestly, bullets seem like an extremely unhealthy thing to get in the way of.

Your approach goes by unhindered, you knew the way almost by heart, climbing up the buildings your ears picked up noise, bullets raining down upon the ground, strangely soft thuds, accompanied by weird fleshy noises that signalled death. But in the background your other eyes began to lose track of the ones on the side you came to. They seems to elude you, both in eyes and... And what? You ask yourself, you were unsure but there was something else.

Peeking over the side of the building your body was pressed against, a heated battle between two groups was taking place. One had the obvious advantage of numbers, twenty humans, armoured in tan battle gear, wielding their weapons were positioned around a building that opened up on two sides. You knew it was linked to another building in the back, but you were unsure if they had that covered. Streams of bullets every few moments speared through the building, shearing any who were inside. Or so you would have thought.

A shining circle had appeared in the smoke of the building, absorbing the bullets. Sitting smugly behind it, a strange creature, fat at the stomach and head, but oddly spindly everywhere else slowly began to touch the shield with it's hand. With a roar of "TAKE COVER!", the men and women in the tan armour dispersed, as the projectiles shot into it, suddenly burst out in a single second. You could hear disgusting noises come out of the grey creature's mouth, it's long toes scraping the ruined concrete as it retreated backwards.

The huge burling man, wielding a rocket launcher, with a huff, slid it off of his shoulder and aimed it into the strange light distortion, shouting the a great cry "Advance, they're falling back!" The rocket soared through the air, impacting with an explosion which visibly shook the building.

A woman wielding a shotgun jogged up to the side of the wall, attempting to get a good flanking position against the retreating enemy. She paused for a moment, the wall beside her rumbled.

So you want to become a psychic MEC trooper?

Cast FIST!
>>
>>35354194
The woman with the black hair jumped, attempting to remove herself from the wall as quickly as possible, her face lighting up with panic. And with good reason. A fist, no, a claw punched through the wall, the resulting explosion of brick would have been fatal enough, if it wasn't for the massive tank of flesh, wrapped with red armour, roaring with fury busting through the wall along with it.

It smashed into the woman, she didn't just fall into the ground, her body flew across the street with a mighty crack of her bones, skidding across the floor, her corpse slid to a stop against a fire hydrant.

It turned, only to be faced with the remaining squad's fully armed weapons. It didn't even think of another option, it charged directly at them, roaring with anger. The burly commander didn't even give the word, he raises his hand and pointed, before slinging his huge machine gun, and unleashing a torrent of bullets into the enemy. It was followed by other streams of lead, bouncing off of the red armor as the monster casually smashed aside the chassis of a car with it's gauntleted fist.

But th constant streams of bullets wore it down, slowing, it eventually collapsed in front of the command, breathing heavily, breathing it's last. The commander smashed the butt of his rifle into it's head "That was for Chloe you son of a bitch" he growled, as a high pitched whining sound filled the air.

"Get into position!" The man shouted, the squad dispersing, aiming their arsenal towards the sky. A blob of light appeared, underneath it's membrane of shielding, you could see a strange structure of a ship, multiple entrances, as well as a being standing right on the edge, looking out downwards at the squad of people. A beam of light was emitted from the craft, and you could see the few strange, pudgy but almost skeletal aliens slowly lifting out of the building and back into the craft.

The squad, strangely enough, did not open fire upon it, refraining from such.

When the UFO had finished extracting it's alien members, it slowly began to rise in altitude. Once it reached a certain height, it began to shimmer, as if under great heat, slowly compress, then it sped off, like a shooting star it was gone in less time than you could blink. Suddenly a few seconds afterwards, you could hear the engines of multiple jet fighters soaring through the air after it, leaving trails of smoke through the air.

The engagement was over, and you had only come at the very last of it's moments. You felt as if something was watching you and your group however...

Please don't take just take the new xcom. I hate it when the game forces you to not 20 rookies and just dogpile the aliens with explosives. That is the way we SHOULD fight the aliens, not treating the aliens as more expendable than our soldiers.

What did we just get through? Was it the ass-end of a Terror mission or an Abduction? It seems like it was a little bit of both--can't remember any time in any of the campaigns I've waged where Berserkers showed up on Abduction missions. Anyone identify what else was on the ground when XCOM was filling bodies with lead?
>>
Deciding right there, the men clad in tan were your best bet at finding your parents again. Signalling to your squad mates, you begin to make your way down off of the building and to your apparent saviours. You were last down the pipe, but you still felt uncomfortable, had you forgotten something...? You shrug it off, and turn to go and meet the soldiers. Then a dart hit Minion A's neck. His body crumbled.

Panick flooded your system in what happened during the next few seconds, Minion B turned towards you, to verify your safety, only to be ambushed by a huge burly man smashing through the back door of the building, grappled with Minion B, and then pressed his black gloves against the sides of his head. A small buzz rang trough the air, as Minion B slumped.

Minion C managed to confirm, that you are under alright, his arm reached out, to grab you and protect you, but it was swatted aside by another hand, from right behind you. She, smartly dressed in a red and yellow tie, white dress shirt, black trousers, ending in two very smart looking shoes. Built like an athlete, her feminine face gave you a little smile, her red lips curling upwards as Minion C attempted to punch her in the face. She side stepped, and rammed her knee into his balls.

Tassling her blond hair, she smiled at you again. Reaching forwards with her hand...

Alright, essentially we have a few stats
Bio
Mechanical
Social
Matter
Energy
And mental

These measure your power in the specific areas, XCOM typically covered the "Mental" area of expertise, afflicting and damaging the mind, and moving into mind control.

In this case, you are strong in social and mechanical, social, as you can see, afflicts those around you more passively than the other abilities, but in essence it comes down to control.

As your powers first flourished, you passively controlled a crowd of people simply through your upper thoughts, this worked due to them being untrained non-psionic peons, essentially. Until you at least double your social score, you won't be influencing XCOM, EXALT, or the alien forces in such a way.

I'd answer in more detail, but currently my brain stuffs hurt.

Sorry, got pulled away. I could point at a few posts, but I mean basically: please don't make the player character overpowered or make their parents special snowflakes. Look, I love Balalaika as a character in Black Lagoon, but that's Black Lagoon, and (IMO obviously) X-COM as a setting has a lot of loss and few happy endings. It's a war story. I'm not saying there aren't bad asses, but I feel that sparing hurt feelings trivializes the potential drama.

I like to see choices having consequences, and power having its price. I liked the hint at "the dark slick around your heart" earlier in the thread alluding to how easy it is to use others when you have that power. I hope it goes without saying that jumping off the slippery slope into full edgemaster is overkill as well. It's a fine balance, and best not to tip too far in either direction, but to mix in hints of both. We all have bits of nobility and corruption, and I think OP's posts so far have done a really compelling job of portraying that.

Well, sorry for the rant; hopefully this doesn't come off as too arrogant, reading it over now I can see hints of an annoying judgmental tone, but rest assured that's not the way I meant it at all.

Also OP, I'm also curious to see what you had in mind for the main character's appearance, even if you decide not to go with it.

Of course we don't want to turn into a special snowflake. I mean sure, there's a certain pleasure that comes in lone-wolfing a landed Abductor with a single soldier, but it's a long, difficult, and ultimately satisfying affair--like passing a kidney stone or sharing a long elevator ride with a sweaty man that reeks of cologne.

As it stands, we're a Sino-Soviet woman that just got abducted by a paramilitary organization that rivals a second paramilitary organization that just had an cocky Assault get plastered by a Muton Berserker--Lord rest her soul.

And while we're on the topic of Assaults--what class are you guys hoping us to pick? I wouldn't mind being either a Heavy or a Sniper, personally--Suppression is so fucking handy in a pinch.
>>
>>35357483
we are a psion that has superhuman tech aptitude and can form a hivemind.
our class is "all of them" because we will coordinate the team into a hivemind. ideally willingly without mind control involved. while supporting the whole team psionically.

that or we hive mind with the science division as we develop tech for humanity to fend off the aliens
>>
>>35357483
>>35357610
I'm thinking we're the hive mind. We're the synapse generator and the squad is our group of synapse creatures.

I'd hate to stick in the lab at all times I'd miss combat. However if we can construct a sort of units that we can transmit our will to we can link up the squad with them all and control/maneuver them that way. Channeling our orders to them. Making them terrifyingly efficient.

On the other end of things if we're directly in the field I'd say sniper. We play a sort of over watch. Heavies catch way too much attention.
>>
Archive? And if yes, when is the next episode?

>>35357169
Eh, this depends. Do our talents only extend into the psioninc or are we truly mentaly and physically more capable? if so with the boost of powerful natural psionics, we kind of can afford to be super special snowflake. Do recall that Xcom operatives are the very ing best combat specialists they could get from a almost planetary level, and considering our parentage we are most likely in that bracket.

Of course the problem i would like to see is the question of weather our many talents and gifts make us still human like others and if yes, then why are others nowhere near our level and if no, then what is our relation to them? Are we like a dog to sheep? Or are we like the Queen to Ants? Both are superior to the other side in its relationship, but one is of symbiosis and the other is of mastery.

Are we now a Ubermensch, and if so is it our duty to act like one or to subsume said behavior. If we are to go the path of the Nietzschean Ubermensch, what characteristics do we follow, will we be a magnetic officer that draws in the other people into a orbit and gives them direction, or a full on control node of a human battlenet warmind? At what point do we overstep? At what point are we perceived as a threat and the chances of our eliminations by the powers that be materializes into a certainty?

I find that transhumanist fiction always leaves that area unexplored. So it would be nice to explore it since it gives us the option to see how a small number of potentials transhumans and their interaction with other humans.

>full on control node of a human battlenet warmind

Like a Tyranid Synapse creature? Lots of potential for danger once XCOM starts getting on Gene Mod research--If we attempt to launch mind bullets at an XCOM soldier genemodded with Neural Feedback, it'd fry our brains and leaves us unable to do any mental tricks. If the soldier is genemodded with Neural Dampening, there's a chance our psionic assaults would be fruitless, and any attempts to "bring him into the fold" would result in what basically amounts to running headlong into a mental attack barrier--he gets knocked unconscious for awhile and we waste an action on trying to wrangle an enemy to our side.

I wouldn't say that we are now the Ubermensch, but just something a little more than human. Just like a block of marble--the potential is there, but it'll take quite a bit of hacking before we end up forming flesh from stone.
>>
Personally I'd like to get EXALT under our own control and work with XCOM against the aliens.

We can contract EXALT to XCOM like private contractors to regular armed forces.

Well what happens to us once we reach the mid-game, when XCOM starts blasting apart UFO's with Firestorms and has its ground troops armed with enough plasma and blaster launchers to make anything short of an Ethereal or Sectopod seem like a moot point? EXALT gets as far as beam weapons and Gene Mods at the same point in time--at best, we'd be capable of handling small stuff or really ridiculous, near suicidal shit--like raiding border cities in alien-occupied countries.

The addition of Psionics--especially so early--gives us a massive edge, but when XCOM starts deploying troopers that can shoot mind bullets themselves while flying around and shooting plasma like some goddamned war machine, we're only good for the jobs XCOM deems too insignificant or Terror mission cleanup.

If we're playing this like the Long War, however, we might actually get some mileage out of being a B-Team.
>>
>>35360277
That's why I want to get control of EXALT and work with XCOM, because then we can get the goodies too instead of getting completely overtaken and left by the side of the road.

Or we ditch EXALT and join XCOM then.

Either way I'd rather be on XCOM's side of things when shit starts getting really heavy.
>>
>>35360302
We do have the option to not join EXALT, considering they're trying to kidnap our ass
>>
>>35361069
Indeed, I'm hoping we can take some of their competent and well dressed people with us as our minions.

And get us some nice threads from them too.

While Bradford pulls off the cardigan really well, he's the only one that could, and if we're gonna work from a base or oversee people, in XCOM or wherever we end up, we need some nice clothes.
>>
>>35358461
Plus as a sniper we could hang out in the Skyranger and do overwatch like Shughart, Gordon, and Hallings were doing.
>>
>>35361202

>>35361171

>>35355696
We're part-Chinese. If anything, it would be a Jian, psychically honed and re-enforced to near monomolecular levels. Or, you know, a TK rip-field along its length, to shred things gravetically.

Actually, that'd be fucking awesome. And I want a bigger one for when we get ourselves a bigass mecha.

>>35361272
I dunno, it doesn't really bring up our mechanical tendencies too much, does it? Sure, it's good for a psionic puppet-master, but we're better than those creeps who just send in waves of dominated minions. We're here to make the world BETTER for people, which means putting ourself in harm's way, not an undue amount, but sufficiently. We need to look a bit more rough and ready than that.

Plus, I like skirts. Leave me alone.
>>
>>35362147

>I dunno, it doesn't really bring up our mechanical tendencies too much, does it?
It does if we're escorted by our psychically assembled mechanical creations that work for us
>>
>>35362351
So assuming we don't join up with established organisations, are we thinking a psychic robot army; a psychic-cybernetic human force; or just a support network for us and our giant goddamn mech?

And let's face it, if these are our abilities at 16, we could quite possibly be the most powerful psychic on the face of the Earth.
>>
>>35362639
Why not all of those things, with an established organisation?
>>
>>35362713
EXALT would want to keep us on a short leash, thus limiting the amount of creative freedom we have and XCom is a military organisation; acting outside the chain of command and established battlefield doctrine is kind of frowned upon. XCom adapts more than others, due to the nature of the foes they fight, but it's all authorised from the top-down. If the commander doesn't okay something new Shen has cooked up, the troops don't get to use it.
>>
>>35362770
So we mind control some EXALT minions, and get us a comfy position in XCOM, play with the best toys and help humanity.

If we can control a psychic robot army, I reckon XCOM will let us use them against the aliens, hell, they themselves do all of
>a psychic robot army; a psychic-cybernetic human force; or just a support network for us and our giant goddamn mech?
Or at least they try their best, and if we can help, I don't imagine they would stop us if we helped them out
>>
>>35362147

Since when has the commander *not* greenlit something that's come out of Shen's workshop? He okayed creating a drug cocktail distilled from the Berserker's endocrine system--which was then watered down for regular military use, for crisskaes!

Shen's toys keep the commander happy for allowing the killing of aliens in new and diverse ways, and the soldiers happy because he incorporates feedback from when he was testing the prototypes for gear, probably with the soldiers as participants. The only people who aren't enthused about Shen's work are the Xenobiologists in Research, because they know that if Shen comes out with a shiny new gun or armor, there's probably not gonna be any new live captures for a couple weeks.

XCOM is kind of the same, but would limit inhumane experimentation and advancement of your powers.

>, we could quite possibly be the most powerful psychic on the face of the Earth.
You are the strongest human psionically.

>>35364389
Honestly, not much psionically. If you had placed more emphasis on mental/matter/bio then you'd have come up with more results
>>
>>35364476
Darn. How about screaming at her and convincing them to just leave us be. Follow us maybe, but they keep their distance?
>>
>>35364494
That'd be spoilers

Well, I'm off. Don't do anything before 11PM GMT!

I'm kidding, go ahead. I just don't want to miss anything!

Muton commander: "Where the hell is our backup!?!"
Muton Lieutenant: "incapacitated, sir! the humans fired a live weapon at them! it started chewing off their ankles!"
>>
>>35363382
Well clearly we have to convince the woman that just captured us to be our matronly figure.
>>
>>35366853
If we don't have a mom anymore we'll make one?

I know this is 16 hours late but fucking get over yourself, lesbian MCs barely take up a percentage of the current quests running and asexual or straight FeMCs are more numerous than anything.

So fuck you, if you're here still reading this I'm voting lesbian to spite your stupid fucking ass because you're in every fucking thread with chargen whining about the same fucking thing that doesn't even happen anymore.
>>
>>35366976
I second Lesbian.

Next action is to flirt with the evil exalt lady.

>Tassling her blond hair, she smiled at you again. Reaching forwards with her hand...

Clearly she's going to offer us her hand and get us the hell out of here.

For Shame assuming evil intent.

>>35367116
As this Anon says... She probably just wants to help us build a better World! Or rather have the rest of humanity reach our level!

Drawfag here. Im absolutely enraptured by the quest! Id love to draw art soon for this quest but Ill be in class for a while. If you have an idea for an OP image or anything like that Exalt, do tell! I've been wanting to draw more XCOM quest related art for a long tine and the last XCOM quest I believe did not continue long enough for me to draw for it! Heres art I did for Beaglerush's XCOM stream.
>>
>>35367356
Well I certainly didn't expect to have someone wanting to draw for me just yet.
I'll probably have to wait off on requesting anything specific until I've ironed out the quest's MC/FeMC, but it'll probably be something EXALT/XCOM aligned, maybe even Alien
>>
>>35367519
Sure thing. Ill try and contact you via twitter to iron out the details later if ever. If not, just say what you have in mind in the coming threads, ill be sure to be present then and ill see what I can do!
>>
>>35367643
Alright then, sounds like a plan. Thanks anon.
