Jin's victory dance continues, unabated, across your carapace.

Across from the two of you, black-scorches mark where her miniature comets fell, though you can't see from here how deep they punched through.

Well. That's a thing.

Sheszka stands off to the side, grinding her face into one of her arms- She can't scratch with the gauntlets on. YOu'll have to make sure her armour has somewhere to hang them, or something.

You turn back to the harpy, who had ceased her celebrations- Now she's watching you intently, smile beaming- every particle of her posture shouting 'Praise me, Praise me!'.

She sighs contentedly as you fingers tine through her hair, dipping her head into your hand. Now that you think about it- She probably can't scratch herself, not with wings. She probably really appreciates this sort of thing.

The voice in the back of your head whispers that your just trying to justify your habit, a silky, sing-song voice gently reprimanding you. You shove it to the back of your mind, and focus on enjoying the feel of her feathers. Her hair is a bit unkempt, but the head feathers are magically soft. You carefully run one between your thumb and forefinger, feeling the individual bristles of the feather flick back into position as your hand passes.

Jin's smile is wide, sparkling.
"It is good, yes? We can help, even if I cannot fly."

>"It's great, Jin. Good job."
>"When did you learn to do that?"
>Walk and talk. Every minute here is a minute you're not in a dungeon.
>Everyone is armed. Kind of. Get a hunt going!

The second step is ignoring the problem.

We really are a serial head patter at this point.

What other things will Lyra pet to get her petting fix? At what point will her family say "Lyra you are an addict!"? Will she do the unthinkable and move on to scales?

I would totally pet scales but it seems they have an issue with lizardy types. Not sure if snakes fall with lizardmen in this setting.
>>
>>35345637
When we get a Lamia party member our family is going to have an intervention for us.
>>
>>35345658
I... I like Lamias. We need one of those. Only thing I like as much as Lamias is Catgirls.. .which probably wont happen due to having a wolf.
>>
>>35345637
Its a real shame what happened to the lizardmen, all their culture, gone.
>>
>>35345658
"Lyra, how DARE you bring in some one like her into our house?! I held my tongue about your little headpatting indiscretions, and didn't say anything when you brought that pet of your home, but don't think I'll stay quiet about you bringing back bad influences on your sisters and brothers! Why can't you settle down with a nice girl like Jin? Oy vey, your grandmother would be rolling in her grave!"

... And suddenly Nualia is a Jewish mother.

I'm not sure how I'd feel about that

I'm kind of curious, what's the count of different kinds of monster girls in /tg/ quests? Not counting multiple of the same kind int he same quest, of course.
>>
>>35345737
I hope I wasn't being offensive with that. I was just commenting on the stereotype after I got done typing it.
>>
>>35345742
No idea. ISH runs a monstergirl quest chock full of them but I can't follow it. His spelling is rough and the story is convoluted as hell at this point.

Yeah, used to follow it back when it started, but it became so convoluted, that disappearing for a month made it incomprehensible upon return.

You nod, and the harpy's smile widens.
"Good job, Jinni. Well done, yes?"
She shuts her eyes, wiggling a bit with happiness. You grin- till a tug at your hand distracts you.

Sheszka is looking at you with a great deal of concentration, holding your hand with her palms to keep the claws away from you.
"Alpha."
"Hahn?"
"Can't scratch."

She moves your hand to her ears, butting it with her head.

You don't really need any encouragement. Your fingers delicately curl through her hair, scritching at her ears as her tails starts to fly back and forth. Jin grumbles from your other side, returning your hand to her head as well.

Okay. That's it. You've got a problem. There's a dungeon waiting, and you're standing in a field, running your hands through wonderfully soft hair, over fuzzy ears, along beautiful feathers. This is-

Stop. Stop stop stop.

"Ahahaha.... Ah. Uh. We should check back in with your mother, yes? We'll let her know we're going. Right away!"
You get your hands back, and both girls fall quiet as you start moving again. C'mon, brain. This is awkward.

"Hm. Jin?"
"Mhm?"
"When did you figure out the star thing?"

She puffs herself up, raising her head with pride.
"After you left, yes? We remembered the words. And I could feel them, when I flew! And when I tried to call them, they came!"
She gets more excited as she speaks, her voice squeaking as she tries to raise it further. Even Sheszka smiles as she tries not to laugh.
You swap stories as you walk, winding your way back into the streets.

You keep yours short, letting Sheszka chime in where she can- Even with her limited vocabulary, she takes hold of the opportunity to brag.
"-And I led it to Alpha's web! It was delicious."
Jin ruffles her wings.
"I hunted black wolves, yes! By myself!"
"You are not as strong as Alpha."

Jin bobs her head in agreement.
"Of course. Lyra is strong."
"Yes."
>>
>>35346540

Your legs click as you ease past the edge of the village- Jin's cabin is well within sight now. There is one thing, though-
"Ah, Sheszka?"
She snaps to attention as you address her, ears perking straight.
"You don't have to call me alpha, yes?"

She blushes, looking away.
"Alpha is Alpha."
You look to Jin, but her face is just as blank as yours. You shrug.
Something to work on, then.

You pull up to the cabin in short order.

You rap twice on the door before pulling it open- Lia waves a wing dismissively as she searches through a wide chest at the end of the bed. Jin pipes in as soon as you've got her clear of the doors.
"I showed Lyra my thing, yes."
"I wish you would stop calling it that."

You cough politely into your hand, before the discussion gets any speed.
"Um. Jin was wanting to know if she could borrow your, er, claws?"
She turns back to you, looking you over carefully.

"Hmm. It shouldn't be a problem. I haven't used them in years, yes. You'll want some kind of cover for your shell, though."
"What are they?"
"Padded metal covers for our talons. A bit of leather to hold them together. They're good for fighting anything tough- Breaking a claw isn't fun, yes?"
"I can imagine."

The conversation falls into a lull before Lia picks it up, turning back to her work in the chest.
"When are you planning on going?"
"Not for a day, or more. Mom wants to train me- Which means I won't be moving for a while, yes."
She laughs.

"I can feel your pain- She used to range so far that I'd be sleeping on her shell by the time we returned, yes. Too much energy by half."
She gives you a look.
"Like someone else we know."
You glance sideways, twiddling your fingers.

"Yes, well. We thought we would hunt a bit before we left, yes. Practice for working together."
"A good plan. You don't want to be getting in each others way, yes."
"Yes. If my sisters come by, can you tell them I will be back? I will be sure to see them before we leave."

It takes a few minutes to wrangle the claws onto Jin. She sits on your shell, raising each foot in turn as you buckle the sheaths over her talons. They klink as she flexes her feet experimentally, the rasp of metal on metal. She nods, and you pick her up, hurling her into the sky. The wind catches her wings, and she starts to circle above you.

You gesture to Sheszka, who straightens, and raise your voice so both can hear.
"You are both good at tracking, yes? By nose, and by sky."
They look to each other, than back to you.
"So hunt. Together, yes? Bring me worthwhile prey."

Both offer you wide, fang-filled grins, and tear away into the woods, the wolf blazing across the grass, and the harpy following above.

You take a free moment to tie one end of a blanket around your waist, throwing the other half over your shell. It's not really secure- You'll need something solid, probably with bands around your stomach. For the moment, though: Superspider! Complete with action cape!

You follow your pack into the woods, picking up speed and blowing through bushes and other small, easily crushable obstacles.

Jin appears overhead, flicking her head in another direction- You follow as best you can, keeping an eye on her shadow, spilling through the foliage. Sheszka plows through a bush overhead, far faster than you can move, pulling away from you by the second. She twists, mid-stride, changing direction, and you follow suite.

The trees start to thin- The sound, the smell of water growing stronger as you move- And you burst from the treeline before a wide, clear lake.

Or it would be clear, if it weren't currently filled with a giant crab.

The shell towers above you, craggy with moss. It turns, steps thundering, and faces you. Eyes glow, mouth frothing with bubbles, claws snap the air.
"Where's the weakpoint?" you whisper.

>>
Your legs propel you forward, Sheszka beside you, howling a war cry as you close on your prey. You point one chitin-coated finger at the creatures grotesque eyestalks, your voice lost to the wind, but Jin understands.

She gains height, vanishing into a dot in the skyline- Then she descends, a shrieking bullet, talons shredding the monster's eye as she passes, a fountain of fluid following her trail.

You head in yourself, aiming straight for the creature's low slung claws- Less weapons means less danger. You swing overhand as you step up, Sheszka beside you, raking her armoured claws over its shell- Neither penetrates.

You can feel the vibration through the haft as your weapon ricochets off the monster's carapace, while your companion only manages to leave shallow grooves along its hardened exterior.

The beast twists in place, your targeted claw swinging away- and you stand face to face with it's burbling wrath, sounding like a pressure cooker that's about to bubble over.

It rears back, levelling its mouth towards you- and you seize your wolf in one hand, diving sideways to dodge the blade of water that tears through dirt and tree alike. Sheszka regains her feet as soon as you drop her back to the ground- and you nod to each other, picking different directions, forcing the crab to pick targets.

You flip your glaive in your hands, wielding it like a pick instead- You sidestep the crashing legs, and aim straight for the joint. Your first strike punches into its shell, leaving a neat hole.

Jin pitches down again, splattering its second eye, flipping neatly through the air and showering it with stars as she makes another pass. Sheszka, lacking your height, has crawled up the leg- one arm wrapped around it to hold her up, while the other blurs as she relentlessly slams it into the joint.

You can hear the shell crackling, giving way under her assault. She dives off the leg at the last second, before it gives way beneath its injury, the crab trying to shift its weight to limbs that were no longer there. The beast pitches backwards, legs collapsing beneath it, a plume of water firing up as it plows into the lake.

Arms snap uselessly before it- blind as it is, it takes no effort to step past the, heading towards your fallen prey.

It takes only seconds- You've easily pulled yourself onto the crabs shell, stalking towards its flailing limbs. Each twitches in the shallows of the lake, throwing up scattered clouds of water as it tries to regain its feet.

Your step is predatory. You glide across its shell, not even noticing its feeble attempts to throw you off. You pause at each limb.

Two blows. You shatter carapace and joint alike, smashing through- You make a lap of the crab, severing each limb where it joins the body. Claws and legs alike drop noisily into the water.

Shezka has braced herself with one of its dangling eyestalk, pummelling away at the joints of its head. Jin strafes wherever she pleases, starfire throwing up little gouts of smoke as it burns away the moss coating it's back.

You stand atop a gurgling, crippled foe, the smell of blood, of meat, of sizzling plantlife thick in your nose. You step lively across, pulling up next to your packmate, hammering your glaive down through its plated skull.

You rain blows down, one after another, till the shell cracks, splits, and your weapon punches clear through into the meat of its brain- the body shudders once, and the mouth release a waterfall of water, the whole creature lying slack in the water.

Sheszka raises her head, a singular howl of victory trumpeting across a blue sky.

Could we use parts of the Crabs shell in the construction of our 'House'?
Give it a solid floor... stop people in the town fearing stuff falling down from our house...
which is obviously built between building over several alleyways...
>>
>>35353121
Yes.
Let us begin house construction.
Crabwood floors, web based walls with tapestries where holes occur, hanging between other people's property.
>>
>>35353121
The shell should be big enough to be made into a small building with a bit of work, removing the head and curing it, if we don't cannibalize it for armor. Maybe a guest house?
>>
>>35353377
I figure we'll just use it for flooring and roofing.

We're going to have to break out the sides anyways, as it's not tall enough for proper living space, but is wide enough.
>>
>>35353564
The shell alone is probably 12-14 feet tall, with the legs holding it 3-6 feet higher. Beak off the head and you get an entryway 6-7 feet tall with a bit of work. That way we can have a floor and roof in one, though it will take some effort to dry, preserve, and seal regardless of how we approach it.
>>
>>35353685
I don't think 6-7 feet will be enough, though.
We're biiig.
>>
>>35353685
We just need to get a collection of different monster to make our house. The house itself will be our trophy
>>
>>35353121
i don't see us settling down in a house.
we are gonna be traveling too much for that.
also, we have a ground dwelling packmate, we should be considerate of her when we design anything

Not our whole house, just tell mom we always dreamt of having our own room.
>>
>>35353943

And mom's pad won't cover it.
It is an essential part of a satisfying adventure to come home and hang up a new trophy. Or in our case, put in an additional room.

Same deal.
>>
>>35353943
If we get to be a big spider we might have to have a tent on our back for traveling so all our packmates can sleep inside.
>>
>>35354014

It's not hard at all for a Giant Spider like ourselves to make a house.

Hell, our current home is a hollowed out tree, and it was hollowed out with magic, it may or may not be our grandmothers too.
>>
>>35354016
Are you suggesting we get so big, the crab shell becomes the living quarters of our companions and we carry it?
>>
>>35354014
its called murderhobo for a reason.
they are homeless.
after a long day of slaying or laying dragons they come back to a tavern, drink whores and fuck ale. and then go out of the city to pitch a tent to sleep in.
>>
>>35354075
Big enough to carry the crab-shell is quite a while away. But it would be cute, carrying your first home on your back when you have your own spiderlings.
>>
>>35354131

If we never get that big or that strong, we rig up a simple motor and become Gypsies, traveling the roads with our brood and their home, selling trinkets we find or make and telling stories of our adventurin' days.

Makes a nice alternative to IMMORTAL SPIDER QUEEN as an ending.

Wandering Spiders go!
>>
>>35354131
At that point we may just want to retake the old ruins as our new home and use the shell like a mobile home for friends and family when going on "vacation".
>>
>Want Lyra to have a brood of her own one day

I think we should make a traditional silk house like the other spiders.
only weirdos sleep in giant hollowed out crab shells. also, this guy wasn't even this impressive.
that or use earth manip to create a gold/silver veined marble palace and line the inside with lushious silks

... of course that is only temporary until we rebuild The City as its queen, where we would live in the palace.
>>
>>35354300
I insist that we be hetrosexual female for the sake of novelty if nothing else.

... that, and for the sake of having our girls get their own husbands and babies. don't you want to play uncle to jins fluffy baby harpies? to szecha's fluffy baby werewolves? to sarah's little spiderlings? all playing along with our own spiderlings as one big giant clan?
>>

Also, not to imply anything to REQM, it's just that most male love interests in quests usually suck.
>>
>>35354378

And maybe we should leave it to the other girls if they want husbands or not. Jin and Sheszka might hook up with eachother regardless of what Lyra does.

No.

>>
>>35354483

Personally, the "ideal" for me is kinda sorta-Reverse/The Same as Fate/Stay Night Arturia, where we marry someone to be our King and father children, but we are just best friends and we both possess love lives outside Royal duties, hopefully with no hurt feelings abound.

except it is not my personal taste. my personal taste is a harem of girls (regardless of MC's gender). this is the exact opposite of my personal taste.
my personal taste is what goes on in 99% of quests and its getting boring to have the same thing play over and over again in so many quests.
also, the waifu harem takes over the quest and kills all the interesting parts
>>
>>35354653

because if she is lesbian then her party is her harem and it means our friends are actually waifus instead of friends.
if she is straight they are just platonic love.
it works if she is asexual too.

although as het she can have an epilogue of being a mother or even a future quest involving her descendents.
... unless there is magic for f/f impregnation which wouldn't surprise me.
>>
>>35354850
self explanatory reasons.
>>
>>35354794
What for ? If the relationship is compelling and properly build up, why just throw it away just for its own sake ? That seems pointless to me, if we need a romance, for whatever reason I still don't see, then it might as well be with characters we actually know and like and have build a relationship with instead of a random no-one just for the heck of it.

>>35354873
Lyra being a lesbian wouldn't automatically mean she is romantically involved or interested in her friends. And what do we do if she gets amle companion(s) ? Wouldn't bys the same logic het Lyra mean he would automatically be her husbando ?
>>
We know that our grandmother is dead; what about grandpa?
What happened to him?
Was he human and just the latest in a line of husbands (since grandma had three clutches of eggs)?
Was he an elf, and that's where mom picked up the attitude of elves being best marriage material?
>>
>>35354910
Why?
That way we can be heterosexual, and keep from waifuing or husbanding anyone, while still getting descendants. You're just letting your human sensibilities get in the way of what is best.
>>
>>35354929
>Lyra being a lesbian wouldn't automatically mean she is romantically involved or interested in her friends.
there is a huge waifu faction here already constantly pushing for them being our lesbian harem
lyra not swinging this way closes the door on this with finality and cements us as platonic friends.
>>
>>35354850
i just noticed it
sperm donor is fine in theory, eating him is barbaric and sick (these spiderfolk do NOT do that)

but the issue remains that we are going to crap up this quest with lesbian waifus instead of "funtime adventures".
>>
>>35354976

I honestly think most of the waifuing of Jin and Sheszka is a joke, mostly because everyone knows that Lyra and her friends are FAR, FAR TOO YOUNG to even begin to seriously think about such things.

Regardless of Jin and her desire to show us her "Thing"
>>
>>35354976
The >muh husbando faction comes in here every thread and whines about how they want to pick up cute boys and >muh wingman.

>>
The simple fact is this:
Going dating with the girls to find people would produce many interesting and hilarious scenes.
Going for the girls themselves would have pretty much the same scenes as if we were just friends, but with slightly raunchier pats.

I choose the one that will result in humorous circumstance, not the one that will get my jimmies up.

>>35355690
No, we could just as easily have amusing awkward scenes watching people in a tavern interact with a Giant Spider, no need for dating sim shit.

>>35355809
I tell you what, you can get a house after we track down the giant spider again and introduce him to mother.
>>
>>35355750

Maybe we could set up an accommodation for our growing pack back home... we can keep our stuff there and make it seem like a big deal...
>>
>>35355803
We need SOME reason to get people in the tavern, anon.
It was like pulling teeth last time we wanted to spend any cash or time at all on luxury like that.
>>
Has Lyra actually talked to anyone about her human past life thing so far?
That's a pretty interesting plot point I don't think we've done enough with so far.
>>
>>35355826
hey, we already told mom about that.
That's HER quest hook now.
>>
>>35355858
I know, but it'd really underscore our growth if we beat her to it.
>>
>>35355857
no, we've been purposefully avoiding it.
Because it doesn't actually matter that much.
>>
>>35355833
We liked the food there just fine, which is plenty of reason to go back.
If you mean the voters, no, we had no problem going to the tavern once we had a actual reason, we were only against it because some wanted to go there at the first opportunity instead of hunting, which would have meant not meeting the wolf pack btw, so it was obviously the right choice.

And once we are on the road, everyone knows you get the best info in taverns.

>food
>reason to go back
Inb4 500 "let's just hunt (for xp)(and to save money)" votes
>>
>>35355857
No we haven't, nor will we most likely, unless it becomes relevant for some reason.
Its not really something that matters anymore, and its not like anyone could do anything about it if we told them, assuming they would believe us.
And we need to keep quiet for now so Aria won't finish the job
>>
>>35355885
Maybe not, but I still think there's something to it worth exploring.
>>
>>35355885
>stealing quests
Truly, the most evil.
>>
>>35355923
But we DID go to the tavern, so thats clearly not the case. And hunting and tavern going aren't mutually exclusive, Lyra already noted she will have to hunt her own meat if she wants the place to prepare enough for her and her sisters.
>>
>>35355973
see the previous mentions on how getting us to go to the tavern was like pulling teeth.
>>
>>35355952
It's like ntr, but better.
>>
>>35355923
spiders hunt, their culture is about self sufficiency.
buying food with money would be an oddity
>>
>>35355973
>Not setting up a traveling tavern on the spiderbutt, with a flap for us to turn around and be the bartender.
>>
>>35355973

Well, we DID just kill a giant Crab.... that should be enough... I'm sure our sisters will appreciate the cooked food... not to mention giving Shaszha her first cooked meal...
>>
How bout we just focus on either adventuring or becoming spider queen?
>>
>>35356020
Even the most self sufficient of peoples enjoy getting a change of pace at the local fooderies when they visit a town like once a month.

Cowboys who ate fine cuts of steak and bacon every day but went into town to eat flouncy french meals when they finally got back from the trail spring to mind.

a chance of pace once a month is fine. i thought you meant more regularly than that
>>

How often are we really going to be home from adventuring?

We come into town after being gone a week or two, rest at our house, buy food at the tavern, set up new trophies, and get gone once we start getting the travel jitters again.

Such is adventurer life.

Watch the final adventure be us and companions retaking the city. Years of being queen later we gather our companions and recite a modified version of Ulysses, then the game ends with us sailing to lands unknown.

The great headpat bandit .jpeg is finished, but I'm going to post it next thread because I'm a bitch.
