"Hey! Watch it!" I yell as a surprised shriek erupts from my throat.
Another pedestrian zooms right past me, nearly clipping me with her shoulder.

I am Itsukuma Masami, and I'm having a really bad day. Earlier, I was at work with Mom when the fire alarm was pulled. Then I come back to school and learn that my friends may not actually be my friends at all. That they might all secretly think I'm some kind of monster.
I just want the day to end, but I can't go home yet, there could be someone spreading rumors about me at this very moment. I need to find a way to spy on them.

I quickly jump from the middle of the walkway as yet another person barrels past me. Everyone seems to be both blind and deaf, completely ignoring my presence with this new card on. Maybe this card causes temporary blindness? Or stupidity?

That's when I notice something that seems important.
Turning to face a window, I'm suddenly aware that I can't see my reflection. Another person passes behind me, his image never being obscured by the one that I should have.

I can feel my knees tremble slightly, and a chill runs up my spine.
My eyes dart downward, toward my arms. I can still see every part of myself. This tight-fitting dress stops my movement some, but it's still visible to me.

Everyone else, they can't seem to see me at all. I try yelling at someone else as they walk by, and they don't flinch or look over at me. So this seems to make me invisible AND very quiet. That ability is pretty useful for a card to have.

...

I'm having negative feelings wash over me, with each one telling me exactly how my day has gone.
"THIS SUCKS!" I turn my head upward to yell at no-one.
"THIS SUCKS THIS SUCKS THIS SUCKS!" Nobody can hear me, so I add in a few kicks to the stone brickwork.

"This sucks..."

--

A shrill whistle goes off, and a collection of girls scramble to intercept a white ball as it treks across a length of tall netting.
That's such a weird sport, maybe I just don't understand sports at all.

I'm sitting on the bleachers with the dress still adorning my body. Nobody can see me watching the game, and I don't really want to be seen right now.
I just want everything to go back to this morning. Where Aiko was still smiling and laughing with me, Maeda was still that trustworthy big sister, Kaori was-

You know, I don't know that much about Kaori. I should visit her occult club sometime.

The whistle goes off again as the ball goes airborne across the court.
Suddenly, one of the girls catches it as their attention is turned to the edges of the court.

"Aiko! You finally made it!"
"Yep! I'm going to stick with you another semester." Aiko says, putting on a big grin.
They laugh, and chatter, and talk among themselves. While I sit on the bleachers and feel bitter, with a tinge of jealously.

Aiko's out here, and she's very much distracted.
I know that I really hated it when they spied on me and went through my personal life.
But- I don't really know anything else to do. If Aiko is the masked girl, then she's already resolved herself to being complacent while I'm ridiculed. She could have solved this whole thing by herself.
Maybe I'm jumping ahead of myself here. No one has seen me while I'm wearing this card yet.

I jump off the bleachers and round the corner, narrowly missing several people along the way. It seems that I'm still very much invisible. I'm able to slip into the locker room as another girl walks out. Inside, there is nobody watching or waiting.

I can't tell which locker is Aiko's, but I do know which bookbag is hers. It's sitting on top of a locker with the zipper opened and the contents visible for all to see.
Trying to be as gentle as possible, I grab the bookbag off the locker and set it down on the bench.
I quietly unzip it the rest of the way and peer inside. When a sudden realization hits me.

"What kind of person takes stuff out of her bookbag and hides it in her locker?"

Maybe I'm just naive, but that's not what I do. Her bookbag is practically empty except for a few workbooks and textbooks that she probably doesn't really care for. Even the pouch that holds her pens and pencils is empty.

I set the bookbag, just as I had found it, back on top of the row of lockers. Using my hands to shadow my eyes, I peer into the ventilation holes of her locker.
Inside, I can see bits of her books and pencils. Along with what looks like her uniform hanging on a hook inside. I can't really see anything past that.

No, no, it's bad enough that I've come in here and gone through Aiko's stuff. I don't want to go through her locker, too. Especially if it means that I would have to break it open.
Well, having to break a lock to get into the locker isn't the only reason. I have enough self-control to not go through someone's stuff just because it's unlocked, right?
Right?

I sigh in a huff as I leave the locker-room. There's still some things that are bothering me, but it's all stuff that I guess I'll have to bring up with Aiko later. I've done all I can do right now.
For now, I should go find that occult club and find out what it is Kaori does.

--

Several times I had to drop my transformation and ask for directions. If she really wants to have a club, then she's doing an amazing job of hiding it.
I finally find it after some difficulty. It's nothing but a quaint room pushed at the edge of one of the buildings. I slip the card back on before I even try opening the door.

I slide the door open slightly, and then question whether I have the right room. All the lights are out, and it seems to be dark inside.
For someone who wants to have a club, they don't make their room look welcoming.

My hands grip the door and tug it all the way open. Inside I see an array of cots lining the floor, with some candles and lights on the edges of the room. Every cot in the room seems to be completely empty.
Up at the front, where the teacher's podium would normally be, is another cot. Except in this one, there seems to be a pool of yellow hair hiding under a large blanket that droops off of the cot. I can hear the hair's owner breathing steadily as I enter the room.

So that's what the club is for? So she can get some sleep after-school? I know she helps the night students and can't really go home, but I feel as if I'm missing something.

I turn toward the door to make my leave. That's when I hear a voice behind me.

"mmm. Masami."
Wait, I'm wearing the card still, right? I check my dress to make sure.

"..it's not very polite to go through people's things. Or watch them while they sleep."

Wait

"um-."
That's all I can manage right now. My body has gone stiff, and my feet suddenly lack the motivation to move.
Oh god, how? How did she know?

I can feel tears pooling at the edges of my eyes. This is it, now they really think I'm some kind of terrible person. How do I even explain this to her?
Well, that's a simple solution: I don't. I just stay perfectly still, and pretend I didn't hear her.

Slowly, I see the mess sleeping in the cot sit up and rub her eyes. She sighs while she's doing so.
"What are you doing here, Masami?"

"N-Nothing! This is all a dream! I was just checking out the clubs, but I'm not, because this is a dream."
Perfect.

She giggles slightly as she gets up, stretching her arms and legs in the process.
This is the point where I realize that she's gone to sleep in just her panties. I blush lightly and close the door all the way so no disgusting perverts can look inside.
She really makes herself at home here, doesn't she?

She sits back down onto her cot, wrapping herself back in the blanket.
"You didn't come here just to check out the occult club. Are you here trying to find out if I'm the masked girl?" She yawns lazily.

I go to say something, but she interrupts.

"I didn't really hear you, so can you take that card off and we can talk face-to-face?"
I let it slip off of me, leaving me in just my school uniform.

I sigh and nod gently; it's not like I can hide that from her at this point what my intentions were.
I walk up to where she's sitting on sit on an adjacent cot.

There is still something I want to know.
"What were you doing just now? Is the occult club one big sleep club?"
"Projection." She says, while stretching her fingers. "It's kind of something I can do. I can watch the entire schoolgrounds at once like that."

"Wow."
Wait, that means-
"Do you know who the masked girl is?"

She eyes me suspiciously. I think I know what that is supposed to mean.
"Tell you what," She says, with another yawn, "We don't really know each other that well, so maybe we should get to know each other better."
"Uh, how do I do that?" I'm not sure where she's going with this.
"We could both take a nap. I'm kind of interested what your dreams are about. They're when someone's intentions are laid bare, after all."

Wait, what?

>"Woh wait, you mean enter MY dreams?! I don't think so!"
>"That's what this club is about? I think I need to ask around about this!"
>"Here!? At school? I think I need to call someone first."
>"Uhm, It doesn't hurt, does it?"

"You mean, you want me to take a nap? Here at school?"
She nods, following it up with a very impressive yawn.

"W-while that sounds like a great idea, um."
I hesitate slightly, the next thing I'm going to ask is going to sound weird.
"It doesn't hurt, does it?"

She looks taken aback, but also too tired to do anything about it.
"No, of course not. You might not even realize that I'm there."

"Oh! Okay, well-"
Then I remember something important.

"I need to call someone first, is that okay?"
"That's fine!" She says, flopping back into her cot.

I stand up and walk, what I hope, is out of earshot range. Picking up my phone, I dial the one person who needs to know that I will be home late.

It rings a couple of times before a very calm, reassuring voice answers.
"Hello? Sweetie?" Mom says on the other side
"Hey Mom, I'm going to be-"
Wait, what am I going to be doing?
"I'm going to be participating in a club activity for a bit here. I'll be home after a while."

She says that it's fine and lets me get back to it. I can see Kaori adjusting her blankets and sheets as I walk back over to her.
"Sorry Masami, I just checked and we don't have any blankets or sheets."
"T-that's fine, I can just sleep without them."
"No don't do that! Here."

She scoots over in her cot, making a space for me to sleep.
"Just take off your shoes"
Wait, does she not realize that-
"Um. Can you put on some clothes first?"

She looks down at her bare self, and blushes slightly.
"Oh! Yes. Yes I should."

It is, average of 40 minutes per post is no good.

I'm thinking it's a combination of me being tired and having my attention split. I didn't mean for this to happen.

I was thinking, this dream sequence should really have it's own thread. It's an important one. If I give it it's own thread; then I could improve update time and hopefully fit a ton of content into it.

Would everyone be okay if I were to stop the thread here, pick up the dream sequence on Wednesday?
