You sit on the floor in front of what Uzume helpfully informed you was called a television. The idea of a magic picture box is altogether foreign to you; there's a niggling feeling of acceptance as though you had once encountered something functionally equivalent. Yashima snuggles comfortably next to you, eyes half-lidded in sleep. She feels nice and warm. It's been a long day for her – an utter understatement.

On the flickering screen of the television, a man appears and talks about the destruction of a local shopping mall. You cringe as you realize that the location is the same place where you had your battle. However, she isn't reporting it as a battle. She's calling it a “gas explosion” and some shit about “transformers.”

This is really, really strange. Someone else ought to know better than you. Miya, with her experience probably has the most correct idea, but she rather frightens you for a multitude of reasons, the foremost of which is probably the sense of existential dread felt by a mouse before a hungry cat. Kazehana might know as well, and she is quite friendly. However, Yashima is right here and you get the feeling that she would probably appreciate that you would go out of your way to ask her.

You nod as though “online videos” and “uploaded” mean something to you. However, the gist of her conversation is clear.

“Also, umm, Kiddo,” she says, having picked up the nickname from Uzume, “That armor and transformation were really cool. How did you do that?”

You consider what to say, since she doesn't seem to be especially interested in coversation right now.

The air feels cold as you enter the kitchen. The source is obvious as Miya glares coldly at you. However, her visage seems to be tempered with fear. Fear of the unknown. You lean on the island as you wait for her to begin.

The armor recedes in a manner that feels like taking a great gulp of air after holding your breath.

You wander around the Inn until you come to Kazehana's room and knock. You might not know much, but you know that getting totally sloshed will make it so that you can relax after a stressful day. And you know just who is the perfect person to get sloshed with.

Kazehana throws open the door with all her usual subtlety, flushed and smelling of liquor. Perfect

“Kiddo~, I heard you made the news,” she says.

“I did, and I really don't want to think about it,” you state.

“I have just the thing,” she says, pointing at an open bottle of that rice liquor from before. She starts to rummage through her drawer, tossing all sorts of underclothes around the room before finding another dish that you've seen her use to drink it.

“Of all places,” she says.

You shrug and let her pour some of the clear alcohol into the waiting dish. It goes down smooth, but with a strong, clean burn. You decide that you rather like it.

“So, how's your little bird? My Kiddo is all grown up now.”

“We've known each other for what, two days now?”

“Three, but who's counting.”

You nod, let her take a swig, and knock back the rest of your dish. Things are going wonderfully until a rock smashes through the window. You leap up, armored plates halfway formed, but Kazehana motions for you to sit back down.

“Whoever it was is already long gone.”

You examine it and find a message wrapped around a piece of brick with twine. It reads as follows:

“Stay out of the limelight. We'll talk later.”

“What does it say?” asks Kazehana.

At that moment, you realize that the message is written in a script utterly unlike any of the writing you've seen in this country.
