Well, it's a new thread, and just as a heads up, I'm probably going to just limit the last 6 rounds to this one thread in the interest of pacing. We'll get through as many as we can and then we'll be off prepping for the final brackets!

Characters and Gunpla: http://pastebin.com/EF7ZcvHD

You are JACK FOULKE, an amateur Gunpla Fighter with dreams to make your own mark on the Gunpla battle scene!

These past two days had been rather rough. By day, you had to participate in the the tournaments, and by night, you had to repair all the wear and tear on your Gunpla to make sure it was ready for the next day's events. Since you only had no backup Gunpla, you had to make sure you Jester was in absolutely flawless condition. Thankfully, having Holly with you greatly helped with the workload, but often you found even then, you barely had enough time to eat, sleep, and update your status with your friends and family.

Man, that break between preliminaries and the final brackets could not come soon enough!

You recall that your next event would be...

That's right, it was the Random Weapon Challenge tomorrow, a popular favorite for the tournament. Essentially, this mean that fighters would have all of their weapons removed or disabled, and were only allowed to use a randomly determined weapon provided by the tournament staff. The weapons could be anything from hyper beam rifles and heat blades to paintball guns and baseballs. Part of the challenge was figuring out a way to use what you had to defeat your opponent, or so the organizers claimed. Really, it was just to see fighters get stuck in amusing positions.

Then again, this wasn't unexpected.

"I'm going to bed, Holly." You sigh. "You should get some sleep too."

"In a minute." Holly says without even looking up from her work table. In between helping maintain the Jester, she had also been tirelessly crafting upgrades for it as well. Not an easy feat with the improvised toolset and materials she had on hand.

"Well, don't stay up too long, or I'm letting you sleep in and leaving you behind." You warn as you settle down in your bed.

(cont)
>>
>>35068836
And of course, Holly oversleeps. Then again, to be fair, you had to report to the stadium a little earlier than usual since all the fighters had to draw lots for their weapons.

"Yo." Charlotte waves as you exit your room. "Not taking Holly with you?"

"She could use some more sleep, and the matches aren't starting just yet, anyways." You shrug.

"I'll keep an eye on her." Lucina says. "You two better go."

"Thanks, Lucina." You grin.

Both you and Charlotte exit the dorms. You haven't actually talked to Charlotte much ever since the end of yesterday's Battle Royale. You sort of suspect that it had something to do with her going back into Rival Mode.

What you also notice is that the both of you were starting to attract a lot of stares as you made your way to the stadium. You guess that after that theatrical ending to the Battle Royale, you and Charlotte stole a little more spotlight.

Charlotte notices, too, and sighs, apprently resigned to her plight.

You decide to just keep walking. Let them look all they want. You didn't care.

It seemed that your determination also encouraged Charlotte, as well, as she stays in position besides you, and before you know it, you're already at the stadium entrance.

That wasn't so bad at all, you think.

"Wait until they start bringing cameras." Charlotte smirks, like she just read your mind

We always have time for Ral. And Ral always has time for us. Because there's no Build Fighters version of Crowley Hamon, unlike every other character, so he is very lonely. I feel bad for the guy. Everyone else gets to be with their waifu in Gundam Valhalla, why can't he?

"Mr. Ral!" You say, walking toward him. "How are you doing?"

"Fine, just fine!" Ral chortles and gives a hearty slap to you and Charlotte's backs. "That was an excellent show yesterday! You certainly won the crowd with that closing stunt!"

"Aw no, we were just blowing up something really big, that's all." You grin.

"Regardless! It was an excellent showing!" Ral nods. "And further proof that the established veterans still have something to fear from the new blood!"

"Well, it sort of helped that our enemies weren't very challenging." You shrug, remembering the horror that was those silly Black Tristar impersonators.

"Well, the point of the preliminaries is to weed out those who can't make the cut." Ral narrows his eyes. "Don't forget, you will eventually be facing more skilled opponents, so don't get overconfident. That has put an end to many promising fighters."

"We'll remember that." Charlotte nods. "As newcomers, we still have a lot to prove."

"That you do!" Ral laughs and slaps you both on the back again, propelling you two towards the the entrance. "Now go! You've got a match to prepare for!"

The two of you head to the center stadium, where the rest of the fighters were gathered. In the center was a massive slot machine, and fighters were already lining up to take their turns.

The fighters start picking up their numbers, and the line moves quickly. Soon enough, you're up. You take a deep breath and pull the crank as the numbers spin.

"All weapons have now been selected! All fighters, please report to your assigned battle tables! Any fighters not fighting right now please return to the gathering area!"

This time, you were one of the first ones up. You head to your assigned table, where you see a stone faced, brown haired boy standing across from you.

BEGINNING PLAVSKY PARTICLE DISPERSAL

FIELD: MOUNTAIN

FIGHT BEGIN

Your Jester touches down on rocky, uneven terrain, typical of a mountain field. Up ahead, you see a large crate with the number "64" stamped on the side and immediately dash over it. You instinctively hit the switch deploy your Balls, but then remember that since they counted as weapons, you were not allowed to bring them in this battle.

You almost felt naked without them.

Nevertheless, you make your way to the crate and open it up, revealing a beam halberd with a shotgun tube. Not exactly ideal, but it was still a decent weapon. Now you just had to hope your opponent didn't have any ranged weapons. Picking up the halberd and snapping it to your back, you try to get your bearings.

As your Jester negotiates the rough terrain, you decide to head for the high ground. Not only was it more advantageous, but you'd also get a better line of sight on the area.

Then again, your opponent might have the same idea...

And there you see it, you opponent. Honestly, you were expecting something a bit more intimidating, but all you see is a Leo painted bright orange. Not exactly the most threatening of opponents.

However, what WAS threatening was his machine gun with a heat bayonet. It certainly would beat out your beam halberd in a long distance fight.

Well, he hasn't seemed to have noticed you yet, and you have the high ground. If you charge now, you'd probably have enough momentum that we he wouldn't have time to shoot at you before getting into striking distance with your halberd. But that was a big risk.

You resolve to play this stealthily. You wait for the Leo to continue on its path for a bit longer before climbing down the side of the mountain as carefully as possible. Even the slightest misstep could shift the rocks, alerting the Leo to your presence, or worse, burying you in a landslide.

Your Jester manages to deftly negotiate the rocky terrain, but there are a few close calls. At one point your nearly knock over a large rock, which would have sent it hurtling over a cliff and crashing into the ground below. Not exactly helpful when trying to attempt a stealth approach.

Finally, you're back on fairly level ground. However, you've largely lost sight of the Leo, except for the occasional flash of orange as it continues on its path.

You opt not to follow directly behind the Leo. Chances are it might have left behind traps or something of that nature in case he suspected of being followed. Plus, you'd have to speed up to catch up with him, which would risk giving you away as well.

Instead, you judge his current head and calculate the direction you would need to go to cut him off.

Fortunately, you seem to catch up to the Leo. It's still going along at a steady pace, carefully keeping an eye on its surroundings. You can see that it's steadily making its way to a small ravine, probably to find some cover. That ravine would be the perfect place to ambush him, but with that narrow space, if something went wrong, there would be no way he could miss with his MG. Or, you could try ambushing him while he was still in the open. Sure you might not be able to surprise him as easily, but open ground gave you better chances to use your higher mobility to its fullest advantage.

You opt to hit the Leo in the open. You had several options, though.

First, you could just straight up charge him. Quick and simple, it not a bit too straightforward.

Or you could try throwing your beam halberd at him like a javelin. From the looks of it, that Leo didn't really have armor to take that sort of attack.

Or you could try to stun it with a long range shotgun blast before charging in. However, you only had one shot with it, so you would have to make it count.

You decide just to charge the Leo. The simplest plans usually had the least potential for going, after all. You power up your thrusters and boost forward, your GN drive whining as it's suddenly forced to activate. However, your charge does not go unnoticed. The Leo just happens to turn your direction and sees you breaking cover, speeding forward with your beam halberd. The Leo, bravely stands its ground, raising its machine gun and firing.

Hopefully he didn't have enough time to aim properly.

Hopefully your armor was tough enough.

Hopefully.

The shotgun blast catches the Leo full in the chest. The fighter obviously wasn't expecting a ranged weapon to be built into the halberd, and took no protective measures against such an attack. You see the Leo get propelled backwards as its chest is literally crushed in by the force of the shotgun blast. It then falls on its back, where it's easy prey for you to jam your halberd straight into its chest, finishing the job as the Leo's square head optic goes dark.

BATTLE ENDED

You sigh in relief. That was one battle over.

You take a look over at Charlotte's table, were her Kampfer was prodding a larger Acguy to death with a butterfly knife. Meanwhile, Fellini manages to defeat his opponent with a boomerang. He never actually throws it though, he simply beat his opponent's head in with it as a blunt weapon. You couldn't blame him, though. You had no idea how boomerangs worked, either.

Mao gets a drill, of all things, and initially has trouble at first until he found out he could actually shoot the thing like a rocket punch, which nets him the last second win.

The Meijin, of course, completely dominates his beam rifle armed opponent with a simple quarterstaff, easily knocking the weapon out of his hands and jamming the rod through his opponent's chest.

That's all you manage to see before the day's events end.

>>
>>35072112
The next event that was up was the race event. Now, this one was a bit different from the other events in that it did not prioritize defeating the other opponents. Instead, it was all a matter of speed, since you needed to get to the finish line ahead of the other racers. Now, that's not to say that opponents couldn't attack each other, but most times fighters would go for minimum armaments in order to save on weight.

However, Holly helped come up with a rather ingenious solution to help you out. As a temporary measure, she tied both of your Balls to a Base Jabber, making a sort of cobbled together chariot which she had taken to calling the Ball Racer. The thing looked utterly ridiculous, but you could see Holly reasoning. The Balls each had quite a bit of thrust, and were GN powered, as well. Their output could complement the Base Jabber's, and since they could move independently from the Base Jabber, could also act as impromptu thrust vectors.

Really, the the only question now was whether you should load up on weapons or not.

>>35072650
You decide to bring minimum weapons, just in case. You could always ditch them if needed, after all.

You and the rest of the racers all gather at the starting line. The field here was rather simple. Just a regular, paved track with some twists and turns, as well as a small lake that had to be hovered or flown over. You take a look at your rivals and frown. By some stroke of luck, none of the other front runners seem to have been placed in your race. That was good, you suppose, but you're guessing that this wasn't going to be much of challenge.

Then the starting lights activate, starting off red, but they slowly begin to count down...

You Balls fire up their thrusters and blast ahead, pulling you and the Base Jabber you're riding on ahead of the pack.

However, another racer matches your speed. You recognize it as the ReZel in the Battle Royale, which managed to get a good head start and has managed to inch just a bit ahead of you.

Meanwhile, immediately behind, you can see the Zeta Gundam you had previously fought, as well as a Empruss mobile armor. They were both obviously looking for an opening to pull ahead. Wonderful.

Why not leave the ReZel at pole-position for now?
With our chariot setup, I'm assuming the Balls are at the front, which means most of our effective firepower will be facing forwards.
Kinda hard to traverse the Balls' guns towards the back when our base jabber is on the way.

Once the distance is far enough between the leaders (us and the ReZel) and the stragglers, we can focus fire on it solely then activate Trans-Am at the final stretch.
>>

The ReZel picks up a slight but healthy lead. Meanwhile, the Zeta and Empruss are accelerating as well, keeping pace with you, but at least not gaining ground. However, you're not too comfortable with having a pair of beam weapon armed mobile weapons right behind you.

Overall, though, you were already halfway through the first lap, and with the speed only picking up, the intervals were only going to get shorter.

You and your Ball manage to drill two beam shots into the ReZel's left wing, causing the whole craft the wobble. It's right wing dips down and scrapes against the ground, slowing it down. and you shoot ahead with the Zeta and Empruss in two. You leap up from your Ball Racer and somersault in the air as your Jester plants its feet right on the top of the Empruss. You can hear a gasp from the crowd as your Jester literally surfs its way to the finish line. Of course, the Empruss tries to shake you off, but it can't afford to drop speed since it still needs to stay ahead of the other racers.

Well, you were already surfing a goddamn Empruss to the finish line, might as well make the most of it. Using your Ball Recall, you call back your Balls as they clam securely to your hands.

And then you juggle. You juggle with so little fucks that your fuck count probably went into the negative. Your Balls bounce and hover playfully through the air as the Empruss tries in vain to shake you off. The racer probably shouldn't have chosen a mobile armor for his racing gunpla, if he didn't want this to happen.

You can actually hear the crowd laughing at the show as your Jester plays the part. However, the finish line is coming up, so your Balls fall back and shoot out the Empruss' engines, causing the mobile armor to crash onto the road as it skids towards the finish line. Your Jester just casually steps off and over the line, winning you the race.

BATTLE END

---

The rest of the preliminaries seemingly go by in a flash, due to a combination of back to back fights, lack of sleep, and plain old stress. However, what really matters, though, is that you made enough points to get into the final brackets.

All you needed now were three matches. Just three, and you'd be the World Champion.

More importantly, though, you'd actually get a day off before the finals. Finally, some FREE TIME!

Oh, and all your family and friends were finally coming over to cheer you on, too.

...

This was going to be a looooooong day...

>And that's it for tonight! I apologize if it seems like I just skipped over a lot of content, but I really feel like the actual final battles would be more interesting!

I was thinking that we should divide it into three type of Balls. Two Interceptor Balls with light ranged weaponry and melee weapons to serve as scouts and harassers. Your Hydra Balls could work for that. Two Artillery Balls with missile racks and a paired railgun/beam cannon. And two of the Defender Balls for protection. A six-Ball rack was mentioned as a viable upgrade, so it's possible to carry that many. And if we could get GN Drives on all of them we'd be just incredibly broken. With three drives we could keep Trans-Am going for an extended fight. With seven we might never have to turn it off at all.
>>
Next thing, everyone at school is going to do performance based suits
>>
>>35076656
>A six-Ball rack was mentioned as a viable upgrade, so it's possible to carry that many.
if we had gotten the 4 ball rack upgrade earlier maybe, but Holly just finished the 4 ball rack in time for the finals and we won't have time for another 2
>>
>>35076692
and everyone quits Kenneth's team after realizing his play style is shit
>>
>>35076698
Maybe now that she's gotten the hang of it she can give us another rack just in time for the final fight with Char.
>>
>>35076656
I had an idea for a suicide ball.

Give it grapple capabilities speed and shields. Have the core be from Turn-A and set to breach it's containment.

It grabs the enemy then sucks them into a small black hole. For when we REALLY need something to die.
>>
>>35076716
that's a big maybe anon, but not impossible i guess
>>
>>35076698
Oh yeah, that's right. We decided to upgrade to the Jesta instead of getting the larger rack. Well, then, let's just improve the Dakka and Defender Ball designs. More firepower to the Dakka, faster response time to the Defender.
>>
I wanna see an improved Ball trans-slam capability.
>>
How small can we go with our balls? We could maybe have Holly hollow out the chest cavity of the Jester and fill it with mini balls, possible even a "fifth" ball that's actually several mini balls disguised as a regular ball. They could be suicide balls or maybe some kind of grapple/disable opponent's movement balls if that makes any sense

That is no Ball, son. No Ball!
>>
>>35076743
And one heavy ball with a big railgun or something.
>>
>>35076522
That's good, but I was thinking we would have our loadout as:
1 Dakka Ball
1 Artillery/Long-range ball
1 Defender ball
1 Melee Ball
So we cover all the bases, since we're a jack-of-all-trades

My idea for the melee ball is a flail/morningstar ball. (I haven't watched any Gundam ever, so bare with me if I am extremely wrong here)
It would have Chobham Armor, it would be covered in spikes/drills, maybe with the possible action of shooting them out, and it could have a small base where we can attach a whip too it, and swing it around like a flail.
>>
>>35076858
Only if it can also have mechanical spider legs... for... for stabilization. Ya, that's it.

It's not that it's a friend vs. friend, or rival thing; it's taking two supremely depowered suits to finals seemingly out of the blue.

For comparisons sake, it's like grinding your way up to top two in street fighter using Guile with your opponent using Juri (Both of these players are known for these characters) and then at the last match of the torny, they switch to Dudley and Rose.
>>

Gunpla Battle is a very melodramatic game, the audience is used to players choosing to change their Gunpla suddenly for the sake of nostalgia. Even if it's a downgrade, it's just something they've come to accept as normal.

I could be sold on a spinning 8 beam sword death ball, maybe with some of those heat knife launchers installed.

But I'd really like something similar to Holly's circus ball; just armed to the teeth with missiles.

Forgot to mention I agree with the other balls. I like the long range ball too. Could either put some guntank artillery on it or pick from a wide selection of beam sniper rifles. I'd just swap out for whatever is preferable.

Figured, just also knew that was a different ball. Personally, I like the idea of the Itani Circus being part of our repertoire, with artillery tier beam cannons on the Beam Dakka ball.

Alternately, as something we try to make for the Jester itself, similar to Crossbone's setup. Everyone will watch the balls, when the nastiest act is on the Jester.

Reminds me that I really need to start working on my Full Armor Thunderbolt/ Crossbone kitbash again.
All dat Space.

plasky hax god hands?
>>
>>35078696
Sure, that could work. Just saying, Jester could stand to have a defined role too among the balls, that way if they go down, we are still a mean motherfucker.

Anyway we could have a Bach like thing in Bleach where if one of our minions die, we somehow gain a power boost?
>>
>>35078807
Dunno, this is my first thread. I think that it doesn't work that way either due to the GN Drive...
>>
>>35078807
It's kind of already that way in the sense that our Trans Am isn't as efficient when all Balls are active. They either need to be dead or docked. Or maybe they can be active and not enter trans am mode when we flip the switch I can't remember.
>>
>>35078894
That's not exactly the case. They need to be alive and docked to get the most of our Trans Am. If they're dead or not docked, out timer (and I assume power level) is rather small in comparison.
>>
>>35078894
Oh, that's how that worked? I thought that docking them upped the Trans Am's ability by them linking with it after reading the one where you guys flattened Kenneth. Adding their juice to the system rather than depleting juice from it actively.

How will we ever top today's shenanigans? Log rolling on top of a ms while doing magic tricks?
>>
>>35079005
Oh!
OH!
Card tricks!
Heat Cards!
Heat Cards with warheads!

Gambit some shit like a boss.
>>
>>35079005

we make a beam saber/heat knife disappear

There's an intermediate day/e exhibition where people can screw around and pal up with the fighters.
There is gundam basketball.

We dunk from half court.
