>You better watch it!

Today we run:
>The City of Light (XIII) = Unlucky Little Pegasus!

“Here it is boy, the Lost Tablet of Prometheus.” Once your team enters the exhibit hall, the Curator wastes no time in closing everything down, and then using his special key, he nimbly opens the crystal box that contains the tablet. “I know you came from far away for this boy, so I hope you understand that you have to be careful with things like these.”

The moment the tablet is released, your whole team instantly reacts to the majestic aura of the grimoire. To Eden and you, this is nothing special, after all you two have seen countless artifacts like this one just by being near Medea so you are used to this. But even Vivi and BT, the ones most unused to these type of items, can instantly appreciate the sort of power that lies in this stone tablet with a mere glance.

There is no mistaking it, this is the tablet that records the Titan that betrayed his fellow gods by stealing the sacred fire that belonged only to the gods and giving it to the humans and thus was condemned by Zeus to suffer an eternal punishment.

This is the Grimoire that contains the secrets of the first flame, the oldest grimoire that deals in the arts of fire and one of keys that allowed humanity to break away from the absolute rule of the gods.

Just right there rests the flame of rebellion, the true symbol of chaos that could turn this world of light into ashes if you just tries to do it.

Before you, Kouga the Saint of Black Pegasus, lies the objective of your mission, after so long, you have finally arrived here. Not even that black urn is enough to distract you from your price.

So what do you do now?

>Take the Grimoire, you have waited enough.
>Be careful check the thing first, magic scan!
>Try to read it right now…
>Ask the Curator to tell you about it?
>Ask the Curator to tell you about who donated it?
>DEVOUR, your god commands you!

>Complete the ritual, bring a world of demons right now.

WISE UP: The Mages whose power come from Legends.

One way to learn to differentiate mages is from where they get their powers. Unlike Saints, Mages depend on outside sources to power up their skills, so it’s always useful to keep from where these wizards draw their power from.

In general, the sources for magic can come from many different places: be it the blessing of a noble god, the accumulated emotions of people that become a curse, from the energy that flows through the earth pulse, but one of the strongest and most used are legends.

Yes, Legends. A mage can base their magic on the recreation of a legends, allowing the belief that people have for those tales to become a source of strength that enhances the illusion the mage brings into the world.
Sounds a bit complicated, well it is. But to keep it simple, the idea is that if you for example, use the Legend of Thor as the basis for your legend, then you will be able to use magics related to the legend of the son of Odin. Be it making thunderstorms or obtaining super-strength; effects like this are available to be obtained by recreating a legend as old like this one.

Sure, you might be thinking that this sounds pretty good, and it is. Mages who base their spells on legends are amongst the strongest, and there are some strong enough that they can rival Saints in power, but this style of magic (like all of them) has a drawback.

The problem is that this type of mage is restricted by the legend they embody (and let’s not talk how hard it is to recreate a legend in the first place). They can’t use spells that are not strongly related to the legend they are associated, if we use the earlier Thor example, a mage based on the Odinson would not be able to use magic based on controlling the Oceans, as Thor’s domain do not include that.
>>
>>35052661

Also the mage who incarnates a legend also obtains the weaknesses of that legend, sure it might sound cool to recreate Baldrs legend and be immune to everything in this world, but remember that also would mean you are weak to the Devil’s Fudge, and by now everyone is smart enough to have some near them at all times (people could be more original, ya know.)

Well I tell you this so you can be more careful with in the future, the best way to win battles is not by being stronger but by being smarter than the enemy. Strength is not something so simple that you can forget your strategy and be successful.

>Singed, Silberkreuz, who comments there is something strange in the area. It smells like the light.

“Guys, let me check first.” It never hurts to be careful about ancient artifacts of doom, or so they say in the movies, so with some care, you start analyzing the grimoire in front of you.

From wherever you look, you don’t see anything out of the abnormal, save for the glorious incandescent power the tablet radiates now that it has been unsealed. The warm cosmos of the grimoire is strong enough that it even washes away the nauseating feeling that the urn in the back give you.

And… that’s where the problem is, this flame is simply too strong.

“Clever sons of a gun.” You ignore the very loud and verbal requests both Eden and Vivi send your way to moderate your language, and simply concentrate. You try your best to take in the cosmos around the room, and simply try your best to ignore the radiance of Prometheus.

Beneath the light of the original flame, there is something. Hidden carefully, almost too carefully, but you know it’s there. This is a seal, a protective curse (and not just any curse, this is an extremely strong one) that will prevent anyone from simply taking the Tablet from where it is resting right now.

“… Aw nuts.” Honestly, while you have the equipment to break a curse of this caliber you don’t feel too confident in your skills to break this curse. If you fail in breaking it, the grimoire will probably self-destruct or lose its powers, plus whoever laid down the seal will know you are here.

So here are your options, either you turn back and try to research a way to handle this, you try your luck right now with the tools you have at the moment, or you simply use your Evil Right, and devour this seal using the authority of the Dark God.

Gee, this is sure a simple choice.
>Turn back, you need time to think about this.
>Try to break the seal using your own magic skills.
>Equip the Evil Right and devour the seal.
>Devour the tablet in the name of your god.

You dig into one of your pockets and pull out the original crystal ball your teacher gave you. Unlike the cheap ones you like to make, this one is the true deal, a system strong enough to link you to anyone in this world.

Silently you raising it to your eyelevel, and concentrate. “Teacher Medea, your fellow witch calls to you, allow the darkness to link our voices together. Let distance not be a boundary between us.” Your crystal ball glows dark, as a connection between two points in this world is formed.

>In this city of ligh-

[Shut up!] You won’t allow this shallow light from the heavens to stop you, and pouring all your will into your artefact, soon the image of your teacher, the Witch Medea, appears in your crystal ball.

Needless to say, your teacher is not happy about you rushing to ask her for aid, but at this point you are happy to hear her scold you, “Kouga, why are you calling me? Do you need help?” Not wasting any time, you quickly explain your situation to Medea, and about the seal that is currently stopping you from taking the Grimoire, “I see, this is certainly quite an advanced piece of light magic, if the conditions In the city are as you tell me, then I doubt you will be able to break this curse with your current skill level.”

The ball by which your teacher is projecting her image takes a few moments to orbit around the tablet, allowing your master to analyze the situation carefully, “Here is what you should do, Kouga, use your right hand, and call upon the darkness in it, if you use it, then dispelling a seal of this level will be easy for someone on your level. Do you hear me?” So she wants you to use Evil Right?

You nod silently and just ignore whatever Medea says after that. A part of you feel a tad betrayed that she is asking you to use Evil Right, but well, you can’t blame her, you never have sat down with her and talked about the Dark God in your hand, so she probably doesn’t know about it.
>>
So what do you do?
>Ignore Medea’s advice, try to break the seal on your own.

This city might be a city of light, blessed by the heavens, but all those blessings might be nothing when compared to the dark authority of your right hand, so with that grim confidence in your heart, you bravely call the power that is yours by birthright! “Devour in the darkness, EVIL RIGHTOOOO”

Under the providence of the original god of darkness, the skin of your right arms instantly turns a sickly dead black, as the primordial darkness of your cosmos form red lines that run down the length of your affected limb. It has been less than a week since the last time you have called upon your old friend, but you feel like it has been like a lifetime, this is your oldest weapon, the partner that has been with you since the start, your Evil Right!

And now you are going to use it to save the world!

“Let’s get to work!” With no hesitation your right arm rises and approaches the tablet without fear, and thus you simply allow one of your fingers to touch the pedestal. Unsurprisingly, the effects are instantaneous, and with that one touch the seal falls apart.
This seal might be crafted from the light, but that light comes from human hands, and thus they can’t compare to the primordial divine darkness that comes from your god hand.

“All conditions are met, so let’s grab the price.” It takes every ounce of will power in your heart to not start laughing out loud like Medea taught you (that’s not very heroic), but you really can’t stop the rush of excitement that is burning in your heart. Finally, the Grimoire of the First Flame is in your hands, and now you will…

>Pack it up and leave, it’s time to run!
>Take a moment and show off to your friends.
>Read it quickly! You might need the power of the Grimoire.
>Devour it with your Evil Right, and offer it to the one true god.

You turn around and show the stone tablet to your friends, after all this time, finally the prize is in your hands.

“Color me surprised, but your really did it, you dastard!” Eden is the first to jump in and bump your free fist in celebrations. Behind Eden, Black Tarantula just gives you a thumps up, and even the Curator is kind enough to give you some congratulations (his old age allowing him to understand that whatever you did, it was quite hard… the devil is wise, not because he is the devil, but because he is old, or so they say…)

But Vivi… Vivi barely manages to give you a sad smile, and a part of you feels that before you leave the city, you will have to sit down with the alchemist, and set everything straight.

At least if you want to keep her as your friend.

Still, this is not the time to talk, because now it’s showtime. You quickly seal the tablet inside your pocket bag, rush straight towards the door, “Everyone let’s move, we have to go, Thanks Dr. O’Connell!”

“Let’s meet again, Saint of Mars! I hope that tablet helps you… Kouga!” The old curator simply gives you a small smile, as he warmly waves his goodbyes at you. “Take care… my little light.”
>>
With your two hands, you blast the doors to the exhibition hall apart, and at that moment you smell ash and fire. Dressed in a black longcoat and a black dress shirt, there stands Leonard Bradley, waiting for you and the grimoire you carry.
“So it was you who broke the seal…”With a tired sigh, the man raises his head, as his eyes meet yours, “I guess this might really be fate, but honestly I just feel you and I both have some horrible luck. Am I right Kouga?” Leonard takes a step, and suddenly the smell of fire and ash intensifies in the hallway, until you can’t smell nothing but that. “I will give you one last chance to stop this boy, what do you think you are doing with that cursed tablet?”
Something about this man unsettles you, you don’t know why, but he is triggering the same alarms you get when you try to punch Harbinger in the face. This man is not playing around, not one bit. If he feels like it, he won’t hesitate to break you.

So should you do? How should you face Leonard, who now stands in your way?
>Break through and escape, follow the plan!
>Stay and talk, this doesn’t has to escalate (Pops other options)
>Attack him, you can’t escape unless you beat him right now.

While keeping your eyes on Leonard, you signal your team from behind you. [At my signal, break off and run, keep to the plan!] There is no need to be scared, right now you just have to... play it safe!

>Now!!!

With a tug to your clothstone you whisper silently, “… come, Pegasus Cloth!” Dark light suddenly surrounds you, transforming into an armor that seals the darkness, and using that light show as a distraction, you move in towards your enemy!

Light gathers in your right fist, “Pegasus!” Normally this would be the start of your standard attack, but this time you improvise, this is no longer your comet fist, but rather, this is a fist that shines only with the light, “FLASH FIST!”

The Senko ken blinds the hall way in a bright flash of light, buying you the chance you need to break away! Your team instantly start running at top speed, with BT leading the way, followed by you and Eden keeping the rearguard.
You clear the Museum in record time, but in this moment you realize you made an error.

Using the power of the cosmos, Saints are able to run at speeds that surpass the speed of Sound, but alchemists can’t use Cosmos like you can, even if her physical abilities are enhanced by the steel she uses, there is no way Vivi can run as fast as your fellow Saints and you!

That’s why she eventually falls behind, and behind her a beast surrounded by ash suddenly appears! He doesn’t bother to give her any chance to protect herself, with a single hand, Leonard grabs the back of Vivi’s head, and forces her face to painfully meet the ground in a single crushingly painful impact.

But Leonard does not stop there, he instantly pins Vivi under his boot, and using a sword he got from whoknowswhere, he hold the alchemist at sword point. “Kouga, stop running, or I will be forced to terminate your friend.”
>>
The moment you see this you instantly stop, and turn back to face Leonard. Your fellow Saints motion you to keep running, “Kouga, we have to leave! Now!” Eden is right, but there is no way you can just leave a friend behind, is there.

Ignoring your mental conflict, or rather fully knowing that you are agonizing over this, the man of ash simply stares at you, and asks again, “Kouga, this is your last chance, tell me what will you do with that tablet?”

From her positions Vivi also motions at you to leave, that she can handle herself with her Kakugane. Sue that sounds nice, but you know very well that if you leave… VIvi will probably get herself killed. So what do you do?

The priority should be to escape with the Grimoire, if you leave Leonard will probably concentrate on giving you chase, but that a gamble you can’t be sure of. Are you willing to play with Vivi’s life like this?

One sad fact about your childhood is that besides Medea and your Master, you only had two adults in your life (and no, Titan doesn’t count, that guy just wants to kill you, he really does, the stupid lolicon).

The first was Master Paradox (of Love), who loved you so much she spoiled you sweet (and thus never taught you anything too useful, why do you call her Master again? Oh wait, because there is also the Paradox of Hate…), but the second the Harbinger. Now, Harbinger is not a bad person, underneath the tough, violent, macho exterior he presents to the world, lies a big softie who also likes to watch telenovelas with you (that’s a secret you will never tell anyone, because you like the bone in your heart, whatever that is).

By no means is Harbinger a bad man (by the Standards of a Saint), but if there is something you really hate about the Golden Saint, is the fact that he is an American. Which sadly means that the man loves his American Football (how dare they take the glorious name of the true football!), and he forced you to watch it!

Needless to say it was a horrible experience, but you learned to tolerate it, because the moment you tried to escape Mr. Bone Breaker would break the bones of your leg and force you to watch the stupid thing anyway, so escaping was not worth it (stupid Speed of Light, stupid gold saints!).

So during your sad youth, you sadly learned tons about American Football.

But also needless to say, is the fact that you never had any use for that sort of knowledge, at least until now.

>Bravo F-23, F-35, Ready yourself Eden! HUT!

Thanks, for making me suffer Harbinger-sensei, what you taught me will save the world today!

But not right now, not yet. It still not the time to get hasty, not now, “Wait, wait, don’t hurt Vivi, I can explain.” Seeing you not moving, Leonard simply raises his blade slightly (and now you recognize that it’s a holy blade, a key to exorcise all darkness and evil), and faces you, motioning for you to continue. “We are Saints of the Sanctuary, and we came here to seal that grimoire, to stop people from using it for evil! We know that this city can be used as a temple to summon hell, so we want to stop it!”

Leonard lowers his guard, and removes his blade from Vivi’s back, and stares at you, “Then we do not have different goals, then simply stand down and come with me, I am still willing to talk to you, Saints.”

You really want to trust Leonard, but you have to play it safe, Leonard is distracted right now, so this is the time, “Eden Hut!” You pass your magic bag holding the grimoire with a backthrow to Eden, who then simply sprints away, running at three times the speed of sound towards the exit of this city!

This is the power of a Saint, even if the church is strong, there is no way they can catch up to someone as fast as Eden of Orion!

Leonard doesn’t bother to follow after Eden, he simply keeps his eyes trained at you, and frowns deeply, “It seems like you are not so different than your teacher, you really are a cruel witch, Kouga. How sad, I guess I really have terrible luck today.”

“How can you call it bad luck, when you are the one doing the bad things?” You raise your hand in a defensive positions, but Leonard does not move to attack you even after that quip.

“Maybe you are right, but let me say this, your sins shall be judged before mine, in this city of light!” AS soon as Leonard says that phrase, the world changes. “Know this, in this city of light we shall never accept theft, that’s why your friend shall never escape us!” Leonard lifts his leg from its position over Vivi’s back and quickly punts the alchemist into an arc straight into BT!

You two friends crash into each other, tumbling away, leaving you alone with Leonard! You want to run to support them, you want to move to backup Eden, you even want to crush Leonard with your hands, but right now you can’t.
Because right now you can only think of one thing, and only one thing.

>This city of light.

You have heard that a lot in your stay in the city, but… this is the moment you finally understand! The moment Leonard said those words, the city changed. Gone were the streets of Paris, for there were replaced by Gold, and the noon sky was replaced by a clear sky, with a golden sun that eliminated all darkness shining brightly in the sky.

The people were raptured away from this battlefield, the buildings became constructions made of marble, filled with statues that worshipped the God of Order and a heavy cloud that brought salvation to the sinners.

The world has changed, the cosmos in this place has changed, and this is no longer Paris but something else… a true City of Light, a piece of Heaven that has overwritten this world.

>Welcome Child of Darkness, Welcome to the city that will never accept you and the darkness you herald.

>Welcome to the City of Saints, to a Heaven overlaid over the Earth. Welcome to the City of Light!

>In this piece of heaven, there is no place for a monster like you! No fade away in the light.

“Kouga, disciple of my enemy, I will give you the first move in honor of the good night we had yesterday.” Leonard raises his sword of exorcism until it rests horizontally, fatly parallel to the ground, ready to stab you brutally. “In this city of Light, I will show you no mercy, child of darkness!”

Leonard’s wild cosmos permeated the whole area around you, the streets became filled with ash and smoke, and suddenly you feel you messed up.

But that's normal, if things are tought right now, it just means you have to pull ahead! Even if this light tries to deny you and your darkness, you will simply teach it to respect you!

What should you do?
>Attack Leonard?
>Try to talk to him one last time?
>Run away, regroup with BT and Versa?
>Run away, get this guy away from your friends.
>Other?

WISE UP: City of Light ???
A spell known as Heaven’s Overlay, or the Angelic Layer. It’s exact mechanics are nothing a sinner like you should know about but the basics are that as long as this Field Skill is in effect, the power of the Darkness Cosmos is lowered, while the power of the Light Cosmos is strengthened. Also the miracles whose source is the grace of our Lord also gain power from being in presence of the heaven we wish to build on this earth. Also the cost of summoning the army of our heavens are lowered too.

But most importantly, as long as the Angelic Layer stands, there is no escaping this city, for this is a perfect simulation of our heaven, and thus it has no entrances or exists for the impure such as you.

Let me state this, and know that this shall be the truth, guaranteed by me one of the 4 Angels who govern the heavens, as long as this city of light exists, there shall be no salvation for you, avatar of the dark god.

>Signed, the Messenger of Water!

PS. I told you that you would pay your debt to me, Child of Darkness. I will never forgive you for spurring the hand of friendship I offered towards you.

You don’t even bother to say anything to Leonard, you simply gather the light into your left arm, and equipped the arm of Light! Just like earlier today, this city of light is making it easier to allow your powers to congregate on your arm! In an instant, your shinning Left is equipped!

>Shinning Left Equipped! +1 DMG on Enemies who don’t resist Light!

>This City of Light has blessed you, unlocked temp. skill, Vanishing Delete! Up to three times per thread, once per turn, you can delete a roll!

>This City of Light has blessed you, unlocked Ni- Error, Data Minerva missing! [Prayer!]

>This City of Light has blessed you, unlocked Chr- Error, Data AIYO missing! [Install Miracle! W…]

>This City of Light has blessed you, unlocked Mor- Error, Data Heliel missing! [Contract!]

With this great light, you feel really strong, no this is your strongest! Even your black cloth is shining, shinning so much that it doesn’t even look like a cloth of darkness! So without even announcing yourself, you simply attack your enemy!

In a single step you cross the dozen of meters that separate you from your opponent, and punched his guts at speeds that triple the speed of sound! Your enemy made no effort to resist, and thus your fist connects with enough power to even break one of the perfect structures of this fake heaven!

Behind Leonard, the heavenly marble easily breaks from the shockwaves your attack makes, but…

>Skill Active= B???? Armor -??????
DMG-> 15->2

Leonard HP 20->18/20, Revenger Skill Active!

Your enemy, Leonard simply stands, unfazed by your attack! The skin your armored fist impacted simply turned red and it absorbed your attack easily! “It looks like the one who started this painful fight was you, Kouga. But I can’t blame you, your teacher would have done the same, but I also told you to make the best out of your first shot, Kouga!”
>>
Somehow this man managed to nullify your punch, but this means that you are now open to his counterattack! Wasting no time Leonard moves to stab you with his sacred blade! You have no time, you must!

>Punch Leonard again! This time you will not fail!
>Break his blade! Shatter it with your Shining Left!
>Retreat, you need some space! Time to think!
>Try to talk!
>Pray to the Goddess Athena?
>Other?

WISE UP: Legend…

Kouga, this is a mage that recreates the legend of old… find the source of the skill that protects him, start by finding from where his skills come from! The source is probably tied to Christianity… or at least some legend of having an invincible body? What sort of legends like this do you know, Kouga?

>Signed, Silber… she is interfering, that bitch!
>>
>>35058991
Think you could post Kougs move sheet, Belkan?
>>
>>35059128
NP, the only thing not there are Shinning Left, that is incomplete and the Key Item, Love Pocket watch!
>>
>>35059189
>>No mather what quest that damn devil is alwais geting in my way!
Well at least this time, the love is not aimed at you, be graceful, you child of darkness!
>>
>>35058991
>Break his blade! Shatter it with your Shining Left!
>>
>>35058970
>Data AIYO missing!
No mather what quest that damn devil is always geting in my way!

>>35058991
>Break his blade! Shatter it with your Shining Left!
"A blade aimed at someone else can't defeat me!"
At least disarming him seems like the safe bet it will give us time without having to retreat

>>35059214
sorry for deleting I had to fix some mistakes
>>
>35058991
>>35059145
Awesome

>>Punch Leonard again!
Use a strengthen down curse when we do.

>>35059189
Didn't Silber-senpai explicitly tell is that letting one of those blades touch us was a terrible idea?
>>
>>35059249
>>35059249
>>35059250
Well, let's roll, unless you guys want to pray for a Miracle?

Roll me a 3x d100, -1 Dice Penalty (this is already counted)
DC is 20, Revenger is a mean move!

>>35059296
Silber meant that it was super-effective when you were in dark mode, when the light is shining, Light hits you for a neutral hit. Also Leonard has a low FAITH build, so the power of the miracles he uses are really poor.

As expected of a guy like him!

Success!

Okay, I have to excuse myself, but I will finish here for now. I will continue next time! The plan is to keep running every day until we finish! Let's fight on!

So here are some tips for you guys to consider. [Good boys, don't need these kind of cheats, so try to win without them!]

>Leonard's armor is based on a legend, to piece it you must find the root of the myth! Come Saint, show us your wisdom!

>Eden got saddled with the hardest Boss fight, again! Poor Guy!

>The mastermind behind this is still hidden, uncover the truth, brave soldiers!

>There not only two factions here!

>The Angelic Layer will continue as long as the cornerstones are kept; you need to destroy the heavens to escape the true city of light!

>Try not to piss off the heavens too much, of a boss too strong for your level might appear!
Maybe you want that...
>In the end this is the story of a certain sad witch... remember that!
>>
>>35059497
thanks for running Belkan Sniper!
>Threads every day
seems good but don't overwork yourself

>all those spoilers
then we have a lot to think
>>
>>35059625
Well, I honestly don't expect you guys to get who is behind everything, honestly this arc was meant to be one of the final one, the problem Kouga rolled too well and triggered a serious shift in stuff!

That we are just a passing through Athena Saint
>>
>>35059711
Hoho, you are getting ahead of yourself, boy. You are still a servant of the God of War, never forget it, Saint of Mars!

One last tip!
>Don't be afraid to ask Silber for help... ypu also have more friends than what you think!
>>
>>35059748
It seems like we will need every help we can have hu
