If you’re a die-hard lover of canon, I suggest you turn away now. I like to think I do Chaos and 40k in general justice though. The key thing at the end of the day is to have fun, whatever that means in this instance.

All rolls will go against a specified characteristic in the style of Black Crusade. You’ll want to roll under the characteristic value in order to pass the check. The more degrees of success (every multiple of 10 counts as 1), the more awesome of a result. A 1 is a guaranteed success, and a 100 is a guaranteed failure.

Best of three rolls when it’s called for, with a 1 or a 100 instantly taking precedence. If multiple characteristics are being rolled for, each 1d100 counts for its respective test. Any rolls prior to the call for one and those not linking said post will be ignored.

You may burn (i.e. gone forever) 10 infamy to completely reroll a check (i.e. three new 1d100). If you have above 10 infamy, you are allowed a single additional 1d100 roll for any check during a session.

If you have any questions/etc, now’s the time. Otherwise, I’ll push the first update in about 10 minutes.

By the time Lucius comes back around, Ignitrix has waved away the illusion she was weaving. Lucius seems torn between whether to ogle Acerea, to eye you, or to faint again. Finally, he decides to cast his gaze in your direction while clutching his forehead with a nervous smile.

“So it seems your radiance is akin to a fire: marvelous to look at… but painful up close."

Your hand holding the wine glass pauses halfway to your mouth. “You have no idea. And you never will.”

“Oh stop tormenting the mortal and have some of this chicken,” Ignitrix chips in as she practically tears into the dish in front of her. “It’s surprisingly good. But then again, I DID specifically arrange for this very bird to be brought on board and cooked JUST the way I like it...”

Acerea takes a bite then cups the side of her face. “My, it IS good, Cinder. Maybe we should do this ‘eating’ thing more often…”

You sigh before slicing yourself a bit of the meat. It’s not the most amazing thing in the Warp, but it is rather tasty. “Isn’t this where Iggy says something about how we’re all daemons and don’t need to?”

“Iggy” coughs and glares at you. “No. If you’re going to using a nickname, at least use ‘Sofh.’”

“Nah, I like ‘Iggy’ better.”

She puffs up again before burying herself in her meal. Yep, it was good to be you.

“Three?” you ask, looking over at Ignitrix. Despite being absorbed with her chicken, she takes the hint.

Lucius pipes up. “They said something about visiting one of Ydumee’s moons. I think there’s an astropath station there.”

So there were still two Grey Knights in the wild then. And they’re probably trying to get a word of warning and a call for aid out of the system. What to do…

Dark Heresy/Black Crusade changed how the d100 rolls are handled.
You have to roll under a Characteristic with Modifier for a Check, but now you roll under the tens value, and your potential Degrees of Success are determined by the ones value.

Let's say we want to roll a strength test.
I roll a d100.

Let's say the result is 21.

So as we see, my roll came in below 42, meaning I have succeeded. Now we look at the number of degrees of success to see how well I succeeded.
If we didn't have unnatural strength we would only have beat the score by 20 (42-22), meaning 2 degrees of success. Since we do have unnatural strength, we would have beaten it by 60 (82-22), for a whopping 6 degrees of success.

If I instead rolled a 50 on a d100, I would not have succeeded on the test in the first place, as it is above 42.

“My dear Cinder, I’d follow you into the depths of hell itself if it meant I could but gaze at your…”

You mull that over another sip of Blood Wine. Using Ignitrix wouldn’t be as glorious as slaying the Knights in person but it would let you get on to bigger and better things. Plus you’re pretty sure blowing a moon out of orbit still means you get to claim the skulls of anyone on it for Khorne.

In my head I imagine that more combat-oriented Greater Daemons have their combat forms and their casual forms, it's just Khornate Daemons are ALL COMBAT ALL THE TIME.

With a popping noise, the tear opens. Ignitrix reaches a clawed hand through, rummages around for a bit, then removes a rather disheveled looking Navigator. A few bolter shells from what you assume are the Grey Knights whizz by but she’s unfazed.

“Here you are, Captain Rosmalen. One Navigator free of charge,” Ignitrix says. “And for my next trick…” She conjures up a massive ball of fire in her hand and chucks it through the portal. The sound of a massive blast emanates from it, then silence. “Toasted Grey Knight. Though I can’t say it’ll be as good as the chicken. Speaking of, my plate seems to be empty…”

As Lucius scrambles to order his servants to bring her seconds, the Navigator stares wide-eyed at the scene. He ends up crumpling on the spot due to shock, but seems to be otherwise unharmed. You’d give Iggy a head pat later.

Killing Eldar? You could do that. They’d be more of a challenge than the best the Imperium had to offer for sure. “It’s a long journey either way. We’re bound to run into something I’m sure. Unless you plan on keeping us in-Warp the entire way.”

“Nah. The Navigator over there wouldn’t be able to keep up with me. Best to stick to the normal ‘drop out every week or so to check locations’ standard operating procedure.”

The venerations from those in the medbay has made you rather curious as to what exactly is going on in the Pits. From the injuries you saw, you know they’re operating in true Khorne fashion. Or at least they’re sufficiently brutal to weed out the weaklings. What you don’t know is why you’re involved in the combatant’s mythos. Even though the Raptor is small in comparison to the Inferno, it’s large enough of a vessel that very few even know of your existence. Those that do are largely in your direct employ. So why…

Pondering what could be ahead of you, you wander towards the upper decks where the pits are located. By the time you reach the deck below you’re already able to pick up the cheers of a crowd. To your amusement, you eventually come upon two lines heading into two archways. The first is for spectators, the second for combatants. Both seem to be offering the mortals a chance at a reward if the signage is any indiciation. The former takes the form of betting and Throne Gelts. The latter, however, is more complicated. There’s Gelt involved here as well, but just observing the would-be combatants tells you they’re not here for that. If you had to guess, they’re here for the Glory of what comes with surviving fifty rounds in the arena. Of the many prizes listed, it’s the only one that offers a clue as to how you’re involved.

The prize board simply states:

“50 ROUND SURVIVAL = HER APPROVAL”

If Acerea was here, you’re pretty sure she’d have a choice remark of the “my my” variety.

So far, no one’s noticed you. Or, rather, you’ve done a rather good job of masking your presence in the back corridors and shadows. Not entirely intentional, of course, but enough that you might be able to sneak into the arena should you so wish.
