You had to postpone the introduction of your FutaAntagonist a little bit though. Your players know that there's some kind of major political machinations working against them, but not who's doing it. They finally decide to build a specialized undead assassin to send after whoever it is. They spend threads planning out how the assassin works, but they unwittingly leave it a fatal flaw. It's corporeal, and it has a butt.

Of course, the thread thusfar hasn't had any hint of sexualization. The most obvious way to have your Futanari Antagonist overcome the assassin is to screw it into submission. But you're afraid the sudden tonal shift might scare off some of your players, and get you accused of Magical Realm shenanigans.

How do you decide to handle the introduction of your antagonist?

Instead she uses her strength to hold it off long enough to capture it, and then cuts off its communication with the Lich and attempts to reason with it. It's smart enough, and eventually agrees to help the Futa.

The players are upset until you point out that they'd know if their assassin had been destroyed. Their sendings to it would fizzle. Instead they're being received, just not responded to.
That seems to mollify them somewhat, and their curiosity gets the better of them. Their paranoia is driven into overdrive and they start focusing on building additional fortifications.
Actually they're getting a little TOO into building fortifications. They're making maps and shit, and asking for mechanical bonuses on things so granular you're not sure what would be a fair way to represent them having all that shit. Certainly not everything they're asking for, they'd immediately become absurdly overpowered. Then you'd have to do things like break out spreadsheets, and then this would basically be you doing graphs and crunching numbers all day erry day.

To oblige them, spend a few days coming up with an 'upgrade tree' that they can do on the fortress. Have x money and x resources come in every day, and at the end of every thread they can decide how to spend it. Keep a map open in Paint and add things in crudely as they come. Make it semi-complex, but don't add any actual numbers to shit or else they'll try to exploit it.

As a test-run to show them what they're buying, have there be...a band of demons, seeking to return those souls the players have subjugated to hell. There are mages, archers, warriors, and rogues, as well as various specialized units for the various defences they've bought. Make a second copy of the map, show what's been taken and where, but make it fairly easy to fend them off.

But, you players ARE trying to show you what they want in their own way. Even if you can't give them everything, maybe you can at least kinda steer the game in that direction.

So you spend a few days coming up with your 'upgrade tree' for the fortress, but you keep the numbers out of it as much as possible so they can't exploit it like the powergaming fucks they are.
You use their maps and start editing it crudely in MS Paint. They then update it in photoshop for you so it looks nice.

You have a band of demons invade as a sort of test run. You make them look more imposing than they really are, but you do make them varied in terms of strengths and specializations. They can attempt every approach, and you update their map with how they've taken over and where.

It all goes swimmingly, and your players still on the high of their excitement declare your quest the best of all time. Everyone else calls them and you a faggot. You try not to let your head get too big, lest you turn into Id.

You're on your 24th thread now, and you think you're ready for the first big invasion from the outside world. The Futa Antagonist leads from the rear with the other nobles, and your players discover her for the first time. When you mention she has their precious assassin on a leash, they lose their minds and start gnashing their teeth.

The way you have it set up, it's going to end in a bit of a stalemate. Both sides will be devastated, and the Futa Antagonist will have to retreat and build up again. But your players will have a lot of new resources to pick through from the battle, what with all the corpses and armor.

As always though, there's a hitch. One of your players has noticed some glaring flaw they can exploit that would allow them to trounce the enemy army while taking few if any losses. What do?

You let them take the exploit, but contrive a way that it ultimately fails. Most of your players seem content with that at first, but one of them throws a multi-post shitfit that gains momentum among the other players.
The poster in particular accuses you of not sticking to your guns, and that if you didn't want it to work you should've just disallowed it in the first place.
You try to calmly and eloquently explain that you're just trying to give a consolation for doing something clever you didn't foresee. But grognardian sperglords gonna sperg, and you're pretty sure you lost a couple players. Was it really a loss though? You're not sure. Most of your other players seem happy with the decision, but you notice they're not really hopping to your defense either.

The rest of the battle plays out, and other than that one hitch it more or less goes according to plan. They spend another 16 threads rebuilding and gaining allies. They're playing much more of an economic game now, and while the micro-managed fortress building still exists, it's much more in the background. Now it's more about politics, which is great for you. That script you use keeps shitting out pure gold.

Now that you've done this much though, you're starting to get fatigued, and you're thinking of quitting. Your life is sucking less and you actually have an opportunity to get a real job. Not to mention this whole Quest Thread thing is way more creatively draining than you thought it would be when you started it. You announce to your players that you're thinking of taking a hiatus. Most are understanding, but they also beg you to keep going and to not let the thread die off like so many others, because it's just so fucking great.

You tell your players you've got a job offer and a chance at a real life, and give them a choice between irregular and sporadic running when you've got the time for it, time skipping to the ending, or ending completely.

They of course go for the irregular and sporadic running, wanting to wring as much story out of you as possible and naively believing that maybe you'll actually finish one day.

With no hard schedule to adhere to, no obligation to keep running, and dwindling interest in the quest due to the playerbase being unable to show up at your irregular times, the quest suffers greatly. One day you run a thread and get only two contentious players who show up. You cancel the thread.

Then you cancel the next one as well, and the one after that. The quest is dead, not with a bang but a whimper. Nobody even bothered to archive the last few.

It got about a quarter the number of threads the real quest did, completely abandoned any pretense at empire building, and hardly ever mentioned the suicidal lich at all. It was pretty much just the futa-antag running around buttfucking, mind controlling, collaring, and physically transforming various political leaders.

The author of that one then tried to include infantalism and diapers, but too many of the core player base wasn't into that and ditched it. The infantalism players didn't care much for the other aspects of the quest though, and the runner was unwilling to drop anything for the sake of keeping players. It ultimately died off as a result.
