You stir awake to the sudden jolt of the boat coming into port. You see the morning sun just beginning to peak over the water, dying it a multitude of oranges. The dock it self is old and worn, and seems to have seen better days, but it leads to a well-maintained cobblestone path that leads up the island to a beautiful stone wall decorated with what appeared to be a stretch of murals, depicting some grand story you were unfamiliar with. Odo gave a nervous cough before managing to speak up. "This is as far as I go, you'd best find your own way off the island."

You begin to issue protest, but it immediately seems pointless. The man seemed too terrified of this place to want to stay here any longer, which considering it was the home of the mad witch that had his mind enslaved for the past few months, was not all that unreasonable of a position to take. Waking Alan, you manage to unload your Girafarig and prisoner with little hassle onto the dock, and watch Odo catch the morning breeze back to his village.

As you turn to the cobblestone path, you see two women dressed in blue, adorned in red jewels, bowing to you as you approach. The address you simultaneously.

"Welcome to Emerald Island. It is our greatest pleasure to assist you."

"We come bringing a criminal of your order to seek justice."

You motion to the prisoner still tied up and slung over Girafarig's back, looking a little sore from her time in the cargo hold. The two women exchange worried glances with each other before turning back to you. They both bow even deeper then before, apologizing in unison. "We humbly beg your forgiveness for any transgressions this sister has acted against you, and hope that it has not tainted your view of our order."

The move to opposite sides of the cobblestone path and turn, ushering you up the path and towards the temple gates. They each take a side of the large wooden door and open, revealing a sight at the compound within. The center held a large fountain, around which several children in white robes were running through playfully, with an older woman in a blue shawl watching over smiling. Around the outside seemed to be small fields of crops tended two by men and women in similar robes, with the occasional person meditating under a tree. However all eyes fell on you as you walked through the gate.

The two women who had ushered you in came up behind you, whispering in a hushed tone. "We shall take the... prisoner now. The High Priestess would be most interested in meeting with you... It would be best to avoid a scene."

You're initially hesitant to let the woman out of your sight, but you resign to the resident's judgement about the best course of action on the matter. One of the woman who ushered you in grabs onto Girafarig's reigns and begins leading it the long way around the temple, assuring you that you will be reunited with it after the prisoner has been dealt with.

As she turns away, you refocus you attention on your remaining guide, who begins to show you through the compound. You feel Charmander draw close to you as you pass by the fountain, but you shortly make your way past and up an elegant set of stairs to a beautiful blue-tiled building, extending higher than any other of the surrounding structures. Your guide ushers you in past several curtains, leading you into a darkened room. The contents seemed to be a circular pool illunimated from beneath the water by a soft green glow, with a cushioned platform in the center.

Sitting in the center is a young woman, dressed in all blue, with red marks decorating her. She seems in deep meditation as you approached, however once your reach the waters edge her hand raises, which seems to be a sign for your guide to leave. The woman raises from her seated stance, and walks towards you through the water, barely making a ripple as she moved. She stops a few feet away from you, and bows softly.

"I am Anteia, High Priestess of Kyogre. I have been informed of the matter at hand, and have sent for a Judge to correct this offense. If there is anything in my power I can do to earn your forgiveness feel free to say so."

You pause for a moment to consider what you could request of someone such as herself, then decide that despite your knowledge on religious formalities to just go for it. "I don't wish to cause offense, but I intend to devote myself to Rayquaza. Would it be possible for you to set me on this path?"

Anteia smiles softly in response. "There is no shame in wishing to serve Rayquaza, it is a very noble and selfless goal. However, I feel I would only do you a disservice if I instructed you in what I know..." She ponders for a second, before an idea seems to form in her head, reinvigorating her speech. "Perhaps I could allow you to sit in on the trial, being an Initiate of sorts. You would learn so much more from a Judge than from me."

You decide to take her up on the offer, not exactly sure what she meant by Initiate, or why being one allowed you to see a trial. However, the mention of the trial did remind you of the ritual knife you had picked up, and decided it might be of more use to Anteia than you. Upon presenting it, you see the priestess reflexively take a step back. "Oh my, I had no idea..." However she composes herself quickly and reaches forward to grab the knife, before placing it down on her pedestal. "Thank you, I'm sure the Judge will be eager to see this when he arrives..."

Finally, you decide you might as well see if you can milk anything material out of this gratitude, remembering your stranded state on this island. "Other than that, my companion and I require passage to the Slate Mts and our original transport has been to spooked by recent events to take us there. Would you be able to assist us in this regard?"

The priestess smiles eagerly. "If it involves this lake, I can easily get you to the closest shore in no time."

"Now, if that is all you request of me, you may have free reign of the compound until the Judge arrives. We have a lovely garden, a quaint library, and several temples such as this."

You turn to Alan to see if he has any questions, but it seems the mention of travel to the Slate Mountains was the only thing he had a keen interest in. You excuse yourselves to allow the high priestess to return to her meditating, and upon leaving the chamber are greeted with Girafarig as promised, sans prisoner. The woman who delivered it simply bows and turns away, making herself scarce. As you turn out to the open compound, you remember the high priestess mentioning a library. You figure that there must be a large amount of time in need of wasting until the Judge arrives, and your childhood mind had long ago connected library and waste of time, so it seemed perfect.

However, on the way to the library, you notice a public herb garden, and you had been given free reign of the compound by the high priestess. You notice Alan take a passive interest in the plants, as you pass. He was an alchemist, and as such a new batch of herbs would certainly be useful for the journey ahead. On the other hand, Alan seemed pretty good with books, and would be a great help at the library as well.

You decide that Alan would be equally happy in either setting, and moderately more useful in the library with you, so you decide to pass on by the garden with ease and stroll into a round stone building with ease. The floor is decorated with a mosaic depicting Kyogre and Groudon fighting, with Raquaza coming to intervene. Around the mosaic are arranged several wooden tables with candles on each, however the room is currently lit by the large skylight in the center.

The most impressive part is that the walls seemed to be lined with shelves and cases, containing books and scrolls for two whole floors. Simply looking at the enormity of it all was enough to make you thankful for bringing Alan along to help, however you have no idea where to begin. So many things you want to know about, and only so much time to search. Alan turns to you, a smile peeking out from under his hood. "So, where should we begin?"

You begin pouring through books and scrolls, looking for one capable of peeking your interest, with Alan heading over occasionally from his own reading to help point you in the right direction. You begin looking through the section of Rayquaza, but the shear amount of information proved too much for a novice like you to reasonably parse, and you decided it might just be easier to ask an expert later.

From there, you tried to look up more information of the totem you carried and its transformation effects on you, but you found the library's selection lacking in that regard. You did however find an interesting scroll for how certain tribes of shamans used to distill Pokemon parts from a hunt into a brew that when drunk granted the user some of the Pokemon's immense strength for a time afterwards.

However, your interests soon feel onto what you were most familiar with: Charmander. You managed to find an entire book dedicated to your little orange friend and devoured it. It seemed his electric blue breath wasn't based in Fire-magic, but in fact seemed to indicate some inborn Dragon-magic in it, possibly a result of a powerful ancestor or something similar. From there you decided to look up more on dragons, and managed to find an ancient scroll that detailed the adventures of a man who claimed to be to tame dragons by challenging them to combat and besting them in a fair fight. You take detailed notes of it, and feel relatively certain it could benefit you when the time came.

When you finally crash your head in exhaustion, you notice the light from the sky light has begun to turn towards the Kyogre side of the mosaic, which indicated it was well past noon. Certainly the Judge must be running late, and you decide to leave the library to check on things.

As you walk through the gardens outside the library, you notice the path in front of you darken immediately, looking up in the sky to see a large cloud had decided to block out the sun. However, on further inspection, you realize its simply a large Pokemon that just looks like a cloud, and before you can react you see a much smaller, man-shaped shadow fall from it, hurtling to the ground in front of you. You turn to look away before he connects with the ground, but at that very second you feel a powerful updraft form around you, spinning into a cyclone of air that catches the man, allowing him to gently land on the ground.

The man himself seems very apathetic for what just occurred, and simply sighs as he straightens his green and gold robes. He turns to meet your surprised gaze with dull golden eyes, and speaks. "I'm Tenzin, and I have been asked all the way out to this island to perform my duties as a Judge. Take me to Anteia."

Were he not looking directly at you, you would be sure he was talking to a lowly servant with the sound of his tone.

You remember back to you time visiting your father's friends and hold your tongue about Tenzin's words. You instead smile, and respond in kind. "I'm afraid I'm just a visitor here, but I just met with her a few hours ago. She's been expecting you."

He meets your gaze with dull golden eyes, not responding until you begin to lead the way, walking your way back up the stairs into the high priestess's mediation room. She rises immediately as you enter, skimming through the water to greet her guest. "Tenzin, you made it here so quickly!" Her smile seems forced, as if to appease the man before her. However, the effort seems lost him, as he responds in a dull melancholic tone. "Let's just get this over with."

You notice Anteia motion over to you, prompting a slight turn from Tenzin's head in your direction. "We shall soon, however the girl beside you wishes to follow Rayqyaza, and I though she might so well to see you in action. Might you allow her to witness the trial?" Tenzin looks you over, apparently noticing you for the first time despite you being the one who met him first, and sighs. "I don't care."

Anteia gives another forced smile, before leaving the water, placing her feet in a pair of sandals before walking over to the side curtain, holding it open for the two of you, but stopping Alan from entering. "I'm afraid one exception is enough." Alan gives a soft shrug, and mentions heading back to check out the library, since the trial was for your benefit anyway.

The room itself is rather sparse, and consists of the two women who greeted you at the gate on either side of the prisoner, her hands still tied. She is kneeling in the center of a red pattern on the ground, and along the wall several other robed individuals stand in waiting. The high priestess motions at a empty spot of the wall for you to stand, Charmander clutching to you in nervousness at the tense situation. You watch as Anteia and Tenzin approach the woman, with Anteia stepping forward first.

"Sister Mary, Priestess of Kyogre, you have been accused of some heinous things. This is your last chance to admit your guilt. Do you choose to do so?" The prisoner simply glares at the floor. "Then I have no choice but to request the services of a Judge. Tenzin, you may proceed."

You watch as she backs away, shielding her face, as Tenzin sighs, producing a single emerald from his robes and holding it up dramatically, closing his eyes. "Rayquaza, Great Mediator and Solver of Strife, allow me to enact your judgement." The emerald flashes green briefly, before Tenzin opens his eyes, now black and gold. "I see into your soul, and it is tainted black by your crimes. You have misused your gift, and tainted your body with foreign magic."

He takes a step closer to her, the two women holding the prisoner down as he presses the emerald to her forehead. It glows brightly as golden runs begin appearing on her skin. "You shall be stripped of your powers: divine and otherwise, and shall spend your remaining days searching for forgiveness. I pass my sentence."

The runes then flash brightly before fading away, as the prisoner's eyes grow white and she faints. Tenzin shakes his head, his eyes returning to normal as he turns away, while the two women carry away the fainted woman. The high priestess walks up to you, smiling. "Enjoy the show. Followers of Rayquaza have an important job, think you are capable of it?"

You nod affirmatively to the priestess, deciding to take her advice and talk to Tenzin before he leaves. This is your chance to find out more about Rayquaza and figure out exactly how to work out this whole Faith thing. Then again, you could always just be a badass with a sword, but that could be decided later. You approached the Judge, who turned to you with dull golden eyes and a silence that perfectly conveyed "what do you want?". You managed to work up the nerve to speak. "If you're not too busy may I talk with you a little before you leave?"

He just stared at you, however he stopped packing up as if to indicate you had a moment of his time. "As Anteia has already mentioned I intend to follow Rayquaza and I would like it if you could tell me where to begin." Tenzin took a few moments to simply stare at you, as if such a concept was so simple to him, the thought of dumbing it down any further was a taxing prospect. However, he eventually managed to form something into words. "It's not that hard. Rayqyuaza doesn't ask much, but he also doesn't give much. You really have to earn his approval, though. Prayers are a waste, he flies too high to hear them anyway. But maybe one day, if your lucky he'll be watching you do something that impresses him, and then you're set."

The priest then shrugs, before taking out the emerald he had used previously and placing it in your hand. It was a rather small thing, but the polish on it was fine and clear. He spoke again, his typical melancholy coming through. "He likes emeralds. Might pay more attention to you if you had one, maybe. That all?"

You look at him quizzically, wondering if he had just answered all of your questions, or none of them at all?

Second.

You decide to try your luck with some more questions. "If you don't mind, could you tell me how you came to the position you are now? How did you earn Rayquaza's approval? How did you become a judge, and what is your domain? Where would I be able to come across an emerald?"

Tenzin blinks in surprise at the barrage of questions, and then sighs in defeat. It seems that he would have to suffer a few more questions before he could leave. "I was appointed by a Temple of Rayquaza to oversee disputes of other Weather Trio members. I earned Rayquaza's approval through quiet mediation, but there are many other schools of thought on that matter. My domain is wherever Weather Trio members reside. A mine or Jewelry store, I imagine. Maybe a treasure chest."

That last bit of snark seemed to indicate that you had burnt out your welcome, so you decide to quit while you were ahead. "Thank you for your time, Tenzin. You can leave." You decide to follow him out, just in time to see him snatched up by a large feathered bird that looked mistakenly like a cloud and off into sky. You decide to turn back to the library to find Alan, who was halfway through a rather thick book. He looks up at you for a brief pause. "Was your meeting informative?" You show him the emerald, and explain. "Hmm, a focus for divine power most likely, you could probably get it fitted to a weapon or a piece of armor if you wanted to."

This option peaks your interest, as there would probably be a person here able to fit gems to objects. However, you're neither sure how long it would take or how much it would cost, and it seemed to work just as well if you held it in your hand. Besides, you were already running late in the day, and this detour seemed to be taking long enough.

Sorry, tad confused, where the hell did we get that emerald? Did Tenzin just give us it?
>>
>>34920466
Yeah, it was a one sentence thing, so its okay if you missed it.

I say we hold onto the emerald for now and later get it fit into something that we are more likely to have on us at all times like a necklace
>>
>>34920535
Ah, I see that sentence now.
>>34920539
Yeah, a necklace seems like a good place for it. In the meanwhile, do we have a good way of keeping it secure?

Put it in our shield. Best place.

You decide you've spent long enough here, and that the emerald could wait until you had something more deserving of holding it. You bring Alan with you and meet with the High Priestess, who was waiting for you at the dock on the North side of the island. She is standing next to a rather flat boat, with a large sail jutting out of the middle. Near the oar on the back is a man dressed in blue robes, who you can only assume is a Kyogre Priest. Anteia smiles softly before speaking. "I see you survived Tenzin. Do me a favor, and don't become too much like him in personality if you pursue Rayquaza's path." She then bows to you motioning to the boat. "As you requested, transport to the Northernmost shores of Emerald Lake, only a day's ride from the foot of the Slate Mountains. With this my debt to you is repaid. May Kyorge watch over you on your travels."

On that you begin to load Girafarig and your supplies onto the boat, only to have a momentary flash of insight. You turn back to Anteia, and remember a question that had been bothering you. "Anteia, what was up with that dagger I gave you?" The priestess looks back at you, a serious expression covering her face.

"It was a blade disguised to look like a divine instrument of the Weather Trio, but underneath its gems laid dark inscriptions. It was a weapon tainted by powerful evil magic, and has since been destroyed. You'd best not dwell on the thought of it, lest it taint your mind."

You want to ask more, but the High Priestess had already turned away, no doubt having more important duties to attend to once the moon arose. Turning back, you make yourself comfortable with Chamander snuggled in your lap. As you rest, you feel the boat speed along the water's surface, as if the lake itself had blessed your travels.

Whelp that's it for today. Still thinking about moving the day and time. Any suggestions?
>>
>>34921335
It'd be a little more convenient for me if it was a couple hours earlier but honestly it's not bad as is

Thanks for running
and this is pretty fine with me

Some time not 2300 on a weekday would be nice, to be honest.
