You pause and stumble over your words.

“I don’t know what to do, and I don’t want to hurt either of you. So, I want to just take a step back from everything so far and try to figure out where we’re comfortable,” its hard to say, and they can both read it on your face. What you wouldn’t give to be able to fall back into the mindset of the princess you took on when expressing your concern over this too your sister last night. That you, she could say this without breaking her own heart.

Hotaru looks terrified, there is an underlying pleading trying to escape from her eyes before she chokes it back. Despite her rapid recovery of composure, you saw it.

The small girl sits in Kairi’s lap. She has short lavender hair tied up in heart shape buns. In her tiny hands is a rather large sugar cookie, her lips are tight as her conflicted eyes stare at the sweet confection. Kairi rests a hand on the child’s head while drinking down a glass of water.

“You are so cute!” she exclaims to the child, “As a kitten or a kid,”

Diana closes her eyes and blushes, cookies still held before you amidst indecision.

~And she’s less than a week old,~ you sigh and plop down onto the couch.

“How does that work, anyway,” Kairi turns to look at Luna, “Do moon cats just grow up quickly?”

Your cat, Luna, paws lightly across the room to the three of you. As she passes the coffee table, she rises to human form and height through the folding of local space around her forms. Black hair cascades down her back as a stark contrast against her yellow dress. Reaching out, she plucks the little Diana out of Kairi’s lap, loops one arm under the child to support her, and takes the cookie in the other and sets it down with the others on the plate of cookies resting on the coffee table.

“No...cookie,” moans the child.

“Well, I was struck by telekinetically directed electricity before I went into labor,” she looks down at her daughter to gently scold her poor decision making, “You were warned you could get sick if you ate too many,” the child curls into her chest and wraps her arms over her mother’s shoulders.

“Then your sister healed me...using a power I remain unfamiliar with. She took the wound from me,” she begins and rubs the arm supporting Diana with her free hand, “taking it’s burden upon herself,”

Snatching a cookie off the coffee table, careful not to disturb the sleeping child in your lap, you turn to Kairi as you wolf it down.

You say nothing to her and stare pleadingly into her eyes. She owes you, you gave her non monstrous super powers after she emotionally blackmailed you. Granted you are both incredibly broken and under existential duress, but she owes it to you not to pry when you make a glaringly rapid deflection.

She looks into your eyes and sighs before grabbing another cookie and goes back to your comment about the moon cats.

“Yes, it certainly is crazy that talking cats can shapeshift and age rapidly,” she agrees in exasperation.

“At least she’s cute,” she ruffles the sleeping cat girl’s hair.

You smile and laugh. Kairi smiles too.

“Anyway, tomorrow morning she’s starting me on the strength training part of my regiment. Said she’ll tailor it so I won’t be late for school once classes resume,”

“I’m going to head out,” Kairi stretches as you both place your dishes in the sink, “I’ve got a few things I need to do before I meet your mystery diner,”

Hurrying upstairs, you begin putting on your face. The tanning oil coats you in Miki’s confidence, and as each extra piece falls into place, you feel a bit more whole. You aren’t solely becoming Miki, you’re bringing her home. It feels nice, if incredibly awkward.

As you get dressed, you borrow a page from Jade’s plan yesterday. Throwing on a Bikini top and short skirt, using some of your not often used bangles, and laying on the light makeup around your eyes a bit thicker than normal.

Today is about expression, and you want to express how attractive you feel.

Gliding downstairs, shouldering your purse, you see Luna gently rubbing the still sleeping Diana’s back.

“Good luck, Mikage,” she says while giving your outfit a critical eye, “Though do be careful if you take the train,”

Her natural hair color is immaculately styled to take advantage of her lengthy wavey state, and her makeup looks really good today, none of the little drop outs you saw yesterday.

I think Mikage still has a lot of insecurity over being "Usa The Lesser", and - with the best of intentions - Hotaru quite seriously reinforced those negative impressions.

Of course, now it all makes a certain sick kind of sense: Of ~course~ she could never live up to Usa in Hotarus eyes. Of course Mikage's best was never good enough.

It's on our ToDo list, but we've got so much else to do that is so much more important. Like this business around Zodiac, incidental investigations into JT and Amazonite's operation, and hanging out with people our own age whom we actually like. Looking out for Koyomi and her crew. Bonding with Luna and Little Di. Once we've got a comfortable handle on all of that stuff, assuming we don't need to wash our hair, then we might prioritize sorting things out with Usa's harem.

Or we could check out whether the Crown's got any new games.

After talking with Usa and the shared dreams, I think it is clear that Hotaru meant well, and didn't think us lesser (really she gave us too much credit, she trusted our stability/capability likely because she thought of us like a young Usa) and was honestly trying to prepare us as best she knew how. Her attitude was a misstep, and her own social issues made it even harder to notice ours.

As someone that's been part of a successful polyamorous V (when one person has two loves, but those loves don't love each other) for a decade now, I can tell you I've been where Helios is sitting. Outside of magic, the situation is amazingly similar. And I can tell you that Helios is handling it the best right now.

No pressure, suggestion the movie as a mutual low stress activity to encourage friendship and togetherness, take things slow, and don't judge.

Usa and Hotaru's reactions are very reaslistic for the situation. Usa is closing off, trying not to overly hurt either, but she's just going to hurt both. Hotaru is scared she's going to lose Usa to Helios, but know their relationship predates hers doesn't want to ruin their happiness for hers.

I've seen this before. Both on the inside and helping friends deal with it. If everyone is okay with a poly relationship, things might work out. Especially if Helios keeps things on keel like he is.

Course, if even one of them is really opposed to poly, someone is going to be hurt. Likely all three.

It's less about how Hotaru sees Mikage, as how Mikage sees herself, though. Usa is the better, more popular older sister. The fact that they're sort of the same person is just rubbing salt in the wound, some days.

Mikage pushed to be Sailor Moon, screwed it up completely. At least in her own head, she was the Worst Sailor Moon. Even poor, untrained idiot girl Koyomi is doing better.

Seperately as much as possible. Mikage has unrelated gripes with all three, and I don't think that anything much they have to say will help until MIkage gets a handle on her own issues.

I've never seen a single episode of sailor moon so as far as I know the stuff going on in here is cannon. That being said someone get on a wikipedia page and figure it out. Mikage knows the story of Beryl and the fall of the silver Millenium & her parents reuniting in their present.

She knows about the Doom Tree.

She knows about Nehelenia, and the Dark Moon circus.

She knows about Galaxia, but not quite about the Star Lights.

The inners and outers don't talk much about the Infinity Arc, or Saturn's Duty/Mutually Assured Destruction level powers.
