Welcome you chiefs of the most important families of our tribe. You brave warriors, you wise women, you that will lead our tribe into a most glorious future …or into oblivion.

For countless years our people were nomads. Moving from one place to the other, moving with the animals, moving with the rivers, never staying for a long period. But maybe that is going to change. Some of the elders come along with a new idea.

To stay.
Not only are a lot of our women pregnant and could use some rest, but the place where you are now seems almost too good to be true. A river gives you fresh water, the nearby woods are full with game and fruits, the hills to the south give a good lookout and maybe protection and above all to the west and our scouts found a strange kind of grass, which grains seems eatable.
But will it be enough for the winter? Should go on? Even if we want to stay, maybe farther south are better and warmer places.

What are we going to do?

Agreed. This place is open, heavy grasslands. We must find a hill, with trees and a river.

A forested hill with a river nearby is best.

Alternatively, the side of a mountain that gets rainfall.

If there's fantasy, near a volcano is good too.

I'd suggest volcano even if it wasn't fantasy, but knowing about volcanic soil is pretty meta.
>>
>>34856128
I vote to stay. This place seems better than most and the women could use a rest. Besides, winter won't be too long in coming and this place is sufficient to at least keep us well through one cold season. Come the next spring, we can re-assess.

“Never stay!” “Always adept!” “Why should we leave the ways of our ancestors?”

The voices of the elders were clear. Go on it is.
We went to the southern hills, leaving the bountiful forests.
How foolish we were.
Starving we went on, losing some of our women. Losing our newborn babys. The hunters searched all four directions, but never came back with enough to feed all. The old ones, the weak, the young. We left a trail of misery. A trail of death.

Than a young scout (give him a good name /tg/) came from a weeklong trip and told us of other people. Living in huts that cannot move. They live in a green valley, protected by mighty mountains.

Maybe they will help us, give us food and shelter. The scout also tells you of women.
Should we approach them with a massage of peace and need?
Or should we take what we need. If it’s necessary with force?

Half starved out people marched to the direction of those nonmoving hut. Etticatran led us. Since he watched those foreigners he knew how they greeted themselves he was the first to approach them. Panic filled those strange people but men with slings gathered and led by an old man they marched against us.
We haven’t raised our spears. And what little of value we had we gave them. We showed them our starved children and while we couldn’t understand each other, misery and need is a universal language.

A messenger was sent and quickly women joined the meeting carrying a strange porridge that tasted like heaven for us.

How wondrous this people were. After several days Etticatran understood them quiet good and he told us that they lived in this stonehuts all their lives as did their fathers and their fathers. Those huts were pure marvel. They kept wind and weather out and kept the warmth of fire inside. After a several days their elders talked to us saying that we have to decide. Either we go on or we stay, but if we stay we have to work and listen to the stonepeople since we knew nothing of their ways.

And so we grew together. Out of need arose friendship, out of suspicion trust and we bonded together. Our sons married their daughter. And out of two we became one.
They showed us how to farm crops, we showed them how to hunt even the deadliest mountaincougar. We grew stronger by each year.

The last step was when Etticatran married the daughter of the stonepeoples chieftain.
As Etticatran stepped forward he addressed everyone, wanderer and stoner:

“With this marriage we have created a new tribe. A strong tribe. The mix of two worlds. Since I was little I saw many wonders: fish that could fly over waterfalls, steaming earth and stone that shines like the moon. The world out there is vast. And while this valley, this home, is the most beautiful place, we should not forget the world out there. I hereby suggest that we send out men that will go out explore this vast world!”

As if with one voice the people cried out in favor of Etticatran. But we wanderers have eaten a lot of food at our arrival so most men are needed on the fields or hunting to produce enough food. This way we can only send out one party of two scouts. But where should they go?

To the far north where legends tell of a river so vast that no men saw the other shore.
To the east, into the flat steps.
To the south, across the mighty mountains
Or to the west into the land of hills and forest.

And so two brave men were send into the world. Meanwhile the people worked. We worked hard and we stored our food. The winter was hard, but we survived. One year after the other passed. The sons of Etticatran were born and the people thought that those scouts were long lost.

But not only they survived but they also came back with news. Telling of the world they explored. They told of valleys with dense forests, clear streams and above all a strange stones which shined like the undergoing sun (copper). A small portion of this metal was shown to the elders and we learned the properties of it. A special dagger was made out of the final piece.
As the years proceeded so grew the population. How should we proceed with this growing population?
We could get more land by building terraces. Or we could send some families to make a new settlement. Either to the north down the river or to south sending them across the dangerous mountains into the valleys the scout explored.

The elders understood the possibility of this new metal. A good mix of wanderer and stoner families were chosen and they were send across the rough passes of the mountainsides. There were some loses, as a debris avalanche killed of two whole families incl. the little ones.
Once in another valley they quickly cleared the forest and while the hunters gathered food, the stonerfamilies build new homes for all.
As they gathered more copper they build tools and refined their way use it.
Two times a year, during summer and fall, people were exchanged for stories and wares. The people of Etticatran as the new settlement was called send above all valuable coppertools, further increasing the foodoutput.
Life was good. With the surplus of food people had something they never thought of they could have: Time.

With time came art. Some people started to invent elaborated dances, some put color under the skin, others started to paint impressive pictures on the stonewalls of the mountains.

Part 1

People made elaborate dances, resembling sometimes like a light wind going through the valleys of their home and sometimes resembling the furry of avalanches. Gneik grew and with the coppertools the stonehomes kept improving at a fast pace.
Etticatran was old. Really old he was the last of the original wanderers. But he wasn’t alone, his children and grandchildren were important people for themselves and he enjoyed his little grandgranddaughter sitting on his lap and listening to his stories.
Backed by his authority of course further scouts were send into all four directions of the heaven. Some came back after a few months, others after a few years. His people prospered.
At this moment some noise came from the outside. He went outside and saw that a hunter brought back one of the scouts.
The people cried as they saw the state of the scout. His left hand was missing as was the left part of his lip, his left eye and ear.
Rumors came up. Was it an animal?
The scout fell on his knee crying he began to stammer:
“I am …am sorry…they tortured us….they they they…kill my friend …I had to….eat.” he cried further and was a total mess.

Part 2
After some time and some medicine he told what happened. During their voyage they met another tribe of wanderers. A huge tribe clad in bones. But since they only knew good people our scouts greeted them with open arms. Fools. They were captured and their copper daggers taken away.
The surviving scout was send back with the following message:
“We are the Krulls. We rule. We come to take the magic from copper. Bend your knees and we spare your lives. Otherwise you will perish. We know where you are and we are coming.”

The elders were in uproar. What should we do when they come?
Some said we should build forts in the mountain, by building walls of stone that as large as a man and larger
Some said we should surrender, If they are son numerous how can we survive?
Other said we should put the knowledge of copper in another way, gather all men of the Golems and met them head on.

It's too late to build a fortress, but that doesn't mean we can't take advantage of the terrain.

If they come in through the valley, we can pelt them from all sides with stones/spears while locking them down with copper forces. The strategy is basically the same outside the valley.

Focus on training and coordination. Do not break formation. Melee AND slings.

Etticatran took up the word “What will happen when we surrender? Will they simply go away after smelling our weakness? NO!
We shall fight! In our blood runs the strength of stone and the furry of the wild. We life a peaceful life, but to protect this peace we shall fight! Let us turn our ploughshares into swords and axes!”
After this our people were filled with an iron will. Etticatran send weapons to Gneik and the man trained. Some young ones combined their furry with their dances and Etticatran saw at the slingers trained aiming at people and not at marmots.
Several scouts were send out to watch the horizon. Each day excepting the arrival of the foe.

And then one day the host of those barbarians was there. Just days away. Their whole tribe with women and slaves. Thousands of people strong. Messengers were send to Etticatran to bring in their men.

A Krull envoy came up and wanted to know our answer.
We did to him the same they did to our scout and send him back.
As the envoy reached their camp a terrible sound out of hundreds of horns roared into the night.
Their host marched and we wanted to give them a warm welcome at the entry to our valley. But still the men from Etticatran were missing.

Seeing the fear and doubt in the eyes of his people Etticatran himself donned his hide and copper.

But some of the elders tried to stop him. Should this ancient one really go into battle? His loss would be felt terrible and could break the Golem will.

The enemy charged at dawn. Screaming like furies the Krull send in their slavestroops. With nothing else than bones as weapons and no protection their losses were terrible. Our slingers send in a hail of stones on the incoming enemy. Skulls crushed and bones shattered. But the real massacre began when they reached our copper warriors. We fell them like grass. As the enemy fled, our lines cheered.
Their horns filled the night so no rest was possible.
The second day the Krull send wave after wave against our lines. And wave after wave we killed them.
But the fighting took their toll. Men died.
During the third night the moral was at a low. Etticatran walked to each warrior and tried to raise their spirts.

The dawn of the third day we gave way. Slowly letting them pay for each meter they conquered. We killed them by the dozens, our swords ripping through muscles. But slowly the soft copper gave way, and our warriors had to take up the stone and bone weapon of the foe.
Only a kilometer separated the Krulls from Gneik and our men readied themselves for a last stand. The women caring for the wounded. But on the horizon the Etticatrans came down marching. Their copperweapons shining in the sun.
Our men rejoyed. The Krulls on the other hands saw their last chance in an all out attack.
With everything they had left they charged us. Before they reached our lines we danced. We stomped our feet on the earth and calling them names.
At the height of the battle that unfolded Etticatran, bleeding from countless wounds, encountered the enemy chieftain A towering man with dark long hair. Etticatrans coppersword shattered on the bonearmor of his foe. The barbarian hitted him with the fist putting Etticatran down and the whole line in danger. But then Etticatran took his dagger, the very first dagger his people ever made, back many many years ago, and he putted the dagger deep into the body of his foe.
At this moment the reinforcements hit the battleline and the tide changed. Attacked by fresh troops and without their leader the enemy retreated and the retreat became a rout.

The Golems were saved. But at what price? Dozens of our best men died or are crippled. And above all we lost our biggest leader.

The call for revenge drove our men into the enemy camp. Every resistance was met by fury and copper. Their women as vicious as their men fought like banshees farther inflicting losses. But the outcome was the same. The Krull as a tribe simply perished. Their history will be forgotten and their name will be only named in the stories of the Golem as a synonym for great evil. The slaves were fred. They were part of many people. But like our wanderer ancestors, many years ago, those in need are given help.
After the battle we could finally rest, mourn and celebrate. Celebrate simply to be alive.
All just because of Etticatran. He words rallied our people, his wisdom gave us the strategy and his sacrifice routed the enemy.

We must defer to gods, not to men, or men will think they can contend with our gods.

Verily, he was a great hero, as befit one blessed by the gods, and we shall remember his name in legend. But alas he was still just a man.

Could we at least make him into hero/saint/angel ? kinda like hercules , but our own ?

His children will live on in our tribe and through their mother, have the blood of a chieftain aside from that of a hero. He is a founder and ancestor of a family no doubt destined to rise to greatness, and that is the most a mortal man should aspire to. His descendants will exalt him with their deeds, honour him in their names. He is among the greatest of our ancestors, but he is not among the gods.

We Golem people buried our many dead not in the precious earth but deep into the mountains. The biggest mountain held just one crypt. The crypt of Etticatran.
But despit some voices from some of the elders we still kept him as a mortal man in our memories. A man standing above all other man but still a man.
During our annual celebrations his stories were danced and our children were raised with stories based around him.

BLESSED BY THE MOUNTAINS SHALL BE ETTICATRAN LAST OF THE OLD ONES, FOUNDER OF THE GOLEM, HERO OF THE PEOPLE.
And so this is the last post for chapter one. Depending how work will go and if there is still interest I will either start chapter2 in 5 hours or tomorrow.
Still lurking here for a little. So what do you think till now?

A hero of legend, blessed by the gods, will surely be remembered by all.

Okay So I have now the "code"

When I start a new thread do I have to post: #"code"?
>>
>>34860899
You're automatically using it right now. Just don't delete the stuff from your options field when you make the thread next time.

Using a tripcode outside of your thread of relevance is considered bad form by most and will be autistically attacked by a few, so keep that in mind.
