You and Harvey get some distance on the rest of the family and make good your escape.

Once you’re sure you’re out of observational range, you assume an amused expression. “So how much of that whole ‘new year new look’ thing was just BS?” you ask. You keep your hands firmly shoved into your pockets as you stroll along. “I mean. There’s a girl, right?”

“That’s something that could be assumed,” Harvey replies cryptically, searching the storefronts for somewhere he’s keen on going.

You furrow your brow as you try to compute his response, but you have to give up. “What the hell does that mean?” you ask.

“It doesn’t mean anything,” says Harvey, lazily. “When someone wants to buy clothes, does that mean they’re trying to impress someone?”
>>
>>34778985

“I don’t know, maybe,” you say. Sometimes though maybe it’s more about having a sense of personality about your wardrobe.

Harvey catches onto that. “Is there somebody you’re trying to impress?” he asks, raising an eyebrow.

>Pfft. I wish.
>I don’t care about impressing anybody except me.
>I’m just fed up with stealing stuff from Rowan or Cass every time I need something not normal.
>Looking good is its own reward; I’m investing in style. I hear it’s a pretty solid financial move.
>The rate at which I destroy outfits demands I replace things.
>Nope. But I do have money to burn, and this seems like a good way to smoke it out.

He has a gf remember? We're not gonna be 'that guy' (that girl) who tries to steal someone else's boo. We have more class than that.

Besides, Sierra's character in general would never to anything that desperate. She's more of a "make him come to us" type of girl.

Agreed. But if he breaks up with her that's a completely different story. Until then, however, we really have no one to impress. .
>>
“Pfft, I wish,” you say, smirking to yourself. Well, honestly there was Wolfgang for a little bit there, but he’s in a ‘relationship’. Other than him, nobody really called out for you noticing them. Like. Nobody both attractively hot on a physical and personal level. “Seriously though,” you say, waving the thought away, “I got money to burn, and I’m fed up with stealing stuff from Ro and Cass every time I need something not normal. And I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but at the rate at which I destroy clothes, I got to make accommodations.”

“That reminds me,” says Harvey. “What happened to that pair of jeans you took to Muir? I saw them when I was taking out the trash.”

The long story is that you accidentally lit yourself on fire while Moriah was teaching you magic. For obvious reasons, you don’t want to share the long story. “Fire happened,” you say, evasive.
>>
>>34779874

Harvey laughs. “Sounds fun,” he says. The something catches his eye, and he points out an incoming store. “I want to check this place out.”

You have no opinion yet, as it takes it a little while to warm up. You just follow him into a kind of casual, but very well-dressed casual store that seems kind of on the expensive side of things.

After you shew away a helpful clerk, Harvey sets to work comparing different button down shirts. You haven’t seen him wear anything like that really in the past, so that’s a change. As he holds a shirt up, he looks over at your somewhat indecisiveness.

You’re not being indecisive though. It’s just there’s so much crap everywhere that looks like it might look good, that you’re having trouble making up your mind as to what to do. “You okay there?” he asks.

> I’m a discerning shopper. Shut up and buy your shirts.
>I’m going to sit this one out. This place isn’t really my speed.
>I uh… there’s a lot of stuff. Have any suggestions?
>Maybe get one of the clerks to show you what’s supposed to be in style for people your age.
>You’re your own person, find your own damn clothes.

Focus on stuff that looks like we could move around in it easily. We might want to get some formal clothing for important occasions and because Sierra would look good in a suit.

[Issues posting]

You give Harvey a look that tells him to butt out. “I’m a discerning shopper,” you say. “I’m discerning. Shut up and buy your shirts.”

Harvey has no problem doing just that as you wander the store. It’s been a long time since you’ve gone to a more upper scale clothes store. You don’t have trouble finding anything, but everything you do find seems to look the same. You swear you’ve seen this stuff on people at school. Or are you just thinking that because of all the posters everywhere showing ultra-hip people purportedly wearing the things you’re rifling through?

You try to forge through your issues, but it seems as if the only kinds of things you’re able to find are too… frilly. Or too plain. It’s pretty damn frustrating when it looks like Harvey’s got like, an armful of stuff. (+4 Stress: 15/100)

Eventually he disappears to the dressing rooms to try stuff on, and you just sit out on the bench waiting for him to get done so you can go to another store and try finding some other stuff. For example, you need some like, sturdy, lightweight clothes for when you’re doing dangerous stuff. And some stuff to just look good.

Eventually Harvey comes out, a few items shoved under his arm. He looks down at you where you’re sitting with your chin on your fists. Personally, you’re fed up with this place.

“How’d discerning go?” Harvey asks.

“It sucked,” you complain. “This is like, one of those trendy places where anything you get, everybody else already has it.”
>>
>>34780733

Harvey gives you a flat look. “Come with me,” he says. You follow, and he shows you a part of the rack where you didn’t really check before. “Check out these shirts,” he says.

You do, rifling through the buttoned tops. You snort at the options. “They’re plaid,” you say.

Harvey doesn’t let that dissuade him. “If you had to try one on though, which one would you choose?”

You give it some thought, and pick out a red and black one, because red and black are the best colors. Still, you’re not convinced. “This is a little outdoorsy,” you say.

“You go to the woods every week, hunt deer, and hang out with a park ranger,” Harvey replies. “It’s too late for you.”

That’s not something you considered before. You guess on the spectrum of city-clicker to lumberjack, you’re no lumberjack, but that doesn’t mean you don’t know your way around gutting innocent animals. “Huh,” you say. “I guess I’m a little outdoorsy?” When the heck did that happen? You fold the shirt over your arm. “You know what would look good with this,” you say to yourself, the idea fueling your imagination. You wander over to the pants and fish out a pair of thin black jeans. You leaving Harvey to look around while you try out the outfit.

A little bit later, you and Harvey buy your stuff. Hey gets a bunch of shirts and really light jackets and stuff, while you wind up with your one outfit that actually you look pretty good in.
>>
>>34780760

You actually wind up getting a couple pairs of black jeans. You’re pretty satisfied, but you know there’s more you need. Harvey looks far from done too.

As you head to the next store, you swing your bag by your side and look over at Harvey. “So this about Sydney, right? Because she's pretty cute, so, I mean, you could have worse taste,” you say.

“I could,” he says, pretty much confirming your suspicions.

There’s actually a hint of nervousness in him as he says this, though it doesn’t show at all. “Is this supposed to be a secret?” you ask.

“You’re the only one who knows, so that depends on you,” he says.

You grin. You’re actually the first one to know something for once? That’s new. And kind of cool. It makes you feel like you’re in the know. (-2 Stress: 13/100)

We're going to be growing up quick! Also, women in drag is kind of a fetish. We're gonna be the BOSS bitch.

Also, instead of getting sturdier/pragmatic things, let's get sportswear & then talk to Harvey about MAKING them sturdier. Remember, he's the enchanter/armour enthusiast.
