>You better watch it!

Today we run:
>The City of Light (IX-2), Opening Stage= REMIX

>Continuing from Last Time.

Your name is Kouga, a Saint of Athena that fights to protect the love and peace of the world, currently you and your friends are standing in front of the Louvre Museum ready to take action.

The city of Paris is in danger, the earth pulse that runs underneath it has been manipulated, causing great quantities of energy to gather, enough to fuel any type of ritual, like using the Grimoire of the First Flame to open a Gate to the Underworld.

So before this city becomes a gateway to hell, you will retrieve the Grimoire from the Louvre Museum, and hopefully stop whoever might use if for evil. Your plan is simple, the witch of light gave you a contact inside the Museum that person can get you the book, and after that you simply run.

If someone fights your team, you left some traps in your escape path, hopefully that would be enough to stop most enemies, plus the Alchemists promised to help you. In the worst case scenario, your teacher Medea is preparing a spell to disrupt whatever might happen here… but you hope you don’t end up needed it.

So standing in front of the Louvre, what will you do?
>Meet your contact, let’s start this.
>The Alchemists should be near… seek them out, personally.
> Search the area for traps or something, use your familiars.
>Other?
>>
WISE UP: CITY OF LIGHT (again)

Just a friendly reminder, in this city of light the demons and the darkness they represent shall not be tolerated, that’s why you will not be able to contact that friend of yours Child of Man. So instead, we, who represents the will of the God of Light and Order, will take over this duty momentarily and help you.

Child of Man, if you find yourself lost or with a inquiry during your remaining time in the city, please do not hesitate to ask, for I promise to answer. Remember that as a servant of my most glorious lord, my tongue is only allowed to speak the truth and only the truth, I hope you grow to understand the value of that virtue of ours.

>Signed, the Foundation.
>>
>The Alchemists should be near… seek them out, personally

I'm sure they'll like a punctual man.
>>
>Wise UP: Mana Burn.

One of the cruelest and darkest curses known to any witch. An evil spell at the level of a grand calamity, that functions by disrupting the flow of cosmos inside the earth pulse, and then burns it down and breaks the ley lines apart, leaving the resulting land hollowed and empty of cosmos.

In other words, this is a curse that burns the land until it dies, leaving a dried husk that is no longer apt to sustain life. The earth rots, the wind stops, the sea dries… and in the end nothing will be allowed to live in the burned land.
Not only that, but the land becomes damaged spiritually, and as a hallowed ground it slowly becomes a cesspool for evil spirits and a place where calamities and monsters are born.

You understand what this means, do you Kouga? You might not understand it, but if you use that spell you will affect the lives of everyone that lives in this city. This curse might not target humans, but it will still leave millions homeless, destroy one of the largest cities of the world and send the spiritual balance in that continent to hell.

I hope you weight the situation well, before you do something you might regret. If you are not careful, you might ruin the lives of everyone in the city. But then again, considering what you are fighting against, you might not have a real choice… so be careful.

As a human, you are free to make your choices, but remember, every choice has their consequences and you will be the one who will have to bear the responsibilities they bring.

Just… think about it.

>Signed, Silberkreuz, who will not allow the light to stop him anymore.

You turn to Eden and BT, and wave at them, “Guys, check the area, I will check with our friends, be careful.” Before your friends can really respond, you turn around, and start seeking your alchemist allies.

If the Alchemist Warrior is going to keep an eye on you, she probably hid in a place from where she can spy on the Exhibition Hall without drawing much attention to herself, while also being somewhat familiar to you… so that leaves just one spot.

You run halfway across the plaza that marks the entrance to the Louvre, and in the same bench you sat yesterday night with BT, is setting the Alchemist Vivianca Barlobello. The moment she sees you the taller girls jumps off the bench with a smile on her face, ready to welcome you, “I thought you were going to enter the Museum directly, I was just keeping an eye on you, but I am glad you came to talk, so Saint Kouga, do you need something?”

Her smiling face is hard for you to read…is she playing dumb, or does she simply not know about this mess? The only way to know is by asking.

While you want to directly get to the point of this, you feel that might be rude here, so maybe you want to ask something else first, and ease your way into your main problem.

So what do you ask of your ally, the Alchemist Warrior Vivi?
>Be direct, you knew that the ley lines are flooded with energy!
>Ask her why she is staying here, this spot is too visible.
>Ask the alchemist to come with you inside, there has been a change of plans.
>Ask Vivi where her teammate is, you need all the help you can have.
>We need to work on a signal, communication is the key to everything.
>Other?

?WISE UP; Hell gates.
Well this is another one of those “this word actually refers to many different similar concepts that are somewhat loosely related” things that happen in our field. He, don’t worry, I will keep this one short, for both of our sakes.

Generally, the idea is that a Hell gate is anything that allows you to connect to the underworld in any way. You could consider the method that we are using to communicate as a form of hell gate.

Basically there are two types of gates that connect to the underworld, the first one are natural occurring ones, or in other words spiritually unstable grounds that are naturally have become distorted over time, leading to the barriers between the underworld and that world of light to weaken, connecting the two realms. These type of things are pretty rare, and you can count them with one hand, with the largest one being somewhere in California or something.

The second type is the one you care about, the manufactured type, and what you are telling me these guys want to do in Paris. Basically a manufactured hell gate is a manmade (or demon made) connection to the underworld, regardless of the size of shape. The most common ones are the summoning circles which are spells that allow a mage to open a gate small enough to summon a random demon.

The size of a hell gate depends on the power that is used to create it, because needless to say that opening a hole straight to hell requires tons of energy. That’s why generally hell gates are small things, only big enough to allow weak demons through, which is why most people never try to seriously summon a demons.

But your situation is different, in this case, with how much power is supposedly accumulated under the ley line… I think that the hell gate produced would be large enough to allow almost a whole legion of demons to enter the world of humans.

Kouga be careful, and don't be afraid to run away.

“Good day, I want to talk about our signal first, you and your friends will stay outside, right? So I feel we should work out how we can contact you. Whoever is doing this could use an illusion to block our way, so I wanted to work out a way to contact each other, if we can.”

Vivi stares at you confusedly for a moment, before nodding excitedly in understanding, “Hum, hum, I see. I honestly expected you to just shoot a flair to the sky, but I see where you are coming from, plus this way we don’t interfere with the civilians, good thinking, as expected of a friend of Justice.”

Once again the alchemists flashes you with her dazzling smile as she continues, “So what do you have in mind, how do you think we should communicate with each other, I could give you a small phone, but I feel that the security systems in the museum would throw the signal off… do you have another idea, Kouga?” Vivi pouts cutely as she tries to think hard on the issue, but you feel that you guys should...

>Just use a Flare, shoot an attack to the sky.
>Take the phone anyway, it’s better than nothing.
>Give her a spare crystal ball, [you are a witch after all!]
>Just leave your familiar outside, all heroes have animal of justices [Will have only 2 familiars active in the lookout]
>Other?

>Take the phone anyway, it’s better than nothing.
>Give her a spare crystal ball, [you are a witch after all!]
>Just leave your familiar outside, all heroes have animal of justices [Will have only 2 familiars active in the lookout]

All three. Better to have options for communicating incase one options is fucked.

That solved, you move to the other issue, “I also want to ask you to come inside the Museum with me and my friends, I would feel more reassured if you stayed by my side, Vivi.” Having an extra person could be vital if a fight stats inside the museum, but you aren’t sure if your friends will be able to coordinate with the alchemist, you know for a fact that BT hates Vivi… so is this a good idea?

You know that those two girls will get into a catfight if you leave them alone for too long, so taking Vivi along means having to keep that in mind.

Thankfully Vivi doesn’t give you much protest to your question, “I wouldn’t have a problem with coming with you, Kouga, but are you sure? I only have two other friends, here, and if I leave, they will be the only ones here to cover the outside of the Museum. That would leave us wide open to someone rushing in from outside and blindsiding us. Saint Kouga, you should remember that a true hero of justice is always prepared…” Vivi waves her arms again, as she does another pose!

Does she think she looks heroic or something? You only think she looks weird.. but seeing how much fun she is having... maybe this is not that bad. Plus fighting for justice is not bad.

Still the alchemist makes a good point, but at the same time, you still feel wary about what will happen inside the museum, and you honestly just feel that the taller athletic girl could save your life inside there.

>Yeah, I need you inside, Vivi. [A 4th Member to the Team.]
>Yeah, also bring your friends too, the more the better. [6-man team, no one outside!]
>No, stay outside, we need to keep our escape path open. Just stay near.

Keep the friends outside to secure the escape route.

Fucking damnit, Kouga can't help himself but to destroy Paris.

Truly the succesor of the origin darkness sword.

GodKouga likely love/hate fucking GodAria for almost losing her life (Love/hate fucking happens all the damn time but now it just became hardcore love/hate fucking)

First the means of communication. “Can you give me one of your phones, I will trade you for…” you just whistle and from a nearby bush one of the 3 pigeons you turned into your familiar came and landed in your right hand. “So here, it will be dangerous to those outside so take this bird, we can use it to communicate, alongside this…” You dig into your pockets and dig out one of the crystal spheres you personally made.

Compared to Medea’s the range is terrible, but it was good enough for this, but when Vivi’s eyes land on your mystic tool, her face grows sour, hey eyes loose some of their happy justice-loving luster, and her body grows rigid and defensive, “A crystal ball… you mean you have a witch with you?”

To this day witches are still disliked by many, so even though you hate that even someone like Vivi is reacting like this, you don’t let it bother you. “Yeah, is that a problem?” Witches after all were born to carry curses.

To her credit, Vivi just blinks twice, and her face returns to normal in an instant, and whatever she might feel about the witches is buried under a cool mask of professionalism. “Then, here, have this, it’s a phone connected to me and my group, just push the green button to connect to a local secure line.”

Vivi extends to you a cheap green cellphone in her hand, and instantly you trade your bird and your crystal ball for the alchemist-brewed phone.
It’s not really a fair trade.
>>
>>34661812

The alchemist quickly raises your pigeon to her face level (which is higher than your eyelevel) and attacked the crystal ball to your bird’s leg with a piece of string, “Birdy, can you do me a favor, you see that guy there,” She points at a tall man in a white jacket that is sitting in a café across the street, “His name is Bruno and we call him the Mountain Exploding Tank Alchemist, can you deliver the ball to him, and stay by him?”

Honestly, your familiar really doesn’t understand Vivi’s words, but you motion your bird to play around, and after a happy chirp, it flies towards this Bruno guy. Seeing the bird land safely, Vivi turns to you.

“So I guess you want me to go with you, right?” Vivi’s smile is a bit smaller than before, but you feel she is fine with you, so there is no need for you to try to bother her about her dislike of witches.

Honestly, you can’t blame her. “Yeah, I want you on the team, I feel that four people is the best number to handle whatever happens inside, plus this way we can become real justice friends!”

Hearing this Vivi smiles brightly again, “Good, then let’s fight for the sake of justice together, Saint Kouga! We have to protect this city and everyone in it.” That’s a sentiment you can share with her.

Together you two walk towards the spot you left Eden and Black Tarantula, but before that you talk to Vivi about….
>Her partners, who are her allies.
>The Ley Lines? Does she know about this?
>About BT, will Vivi have a problem working with your friend?
>Witches and why Vivi dislikes them?
>You just walk back silently, you can enjoy the silence, right?

>>
>>34662887

“About my friend, the homunculus Black Tarantula Saint… I hope you won’t have a problem working with her, you know with you being an alchemist and all.” While you honestly don’t care if BT and Vivi like each other, you really don’t need to have them fighting inside the museum.

That wouldn’t be cool, not cool at all.

Vivi takes a few moments to stare at the sky, as she tries to think hard, while whispering in a low but fast voice. “A problem well… as a humanoid … certainly stable, the impulse to consume is probably being contro…. By an aqua vit… and she probably can use…” You barely manage to catch some parts of Vivi’s stream of consciousness thought, but you honestly can’t make much about it.

A part of you does find it funny that Vivi is talking like this... she reminds you of a squirrel. How cute.

In the end Vivi, stares at you and gives you her judgment on the issue, “I can deal with her, for what she is, she is very stable, so as long as she remains controlled, I do not have a problem with her.” Vivi sighes for a moment, as she brings a hand to her chin, “honestly, I would prefer to take her back to Atlas and lock her down for research, but I want to trust you, Kouga, so I will believe in you who believes in that homunculus.”

That’s better, but something worries you, why is she trusting so much? You still feel you don’t really know. “Trust me? Why do you say that?”

“You… you where the one who helped us defeat one of our greatest enemies, one of the twelve catastrophes that will bring the end of this world, Victor III, plus you brought justice to the heretical alchemist Lifestream Dragon. You might not understand that, but to us, the alchemists, what you did was very important.

You gave us hope, Kouga, and reminded us that why the alchemists have always cooperated with the Saints to protect the world. Thanks to what you did, Atlas recovered its hope, and now we are more than driven to protect this world, Kouga, and to me that’s priceless.

In the ancient times, the we rose to fight the inevitable end, but now that the time has run short, many had given up hope… but now, the alchemists have seen small light, a small hope to change the end predicted in the ancient scrolls.”

Vivi’s eyes shine with warm, and the way she is smiling right now is simply disarming, “Kouga, I trust you because I think that you are someone who wants to do the right thing. Kouga, I don’t care if you are friends with witches or homunculus, for all I know you might be even friends with a demon, but right now, I want to give you the benefit of the doubt…and ask you to help me protect the peace and justice of this city.”

The alchemist gives you her hand, “So Kouga, please prove me right, show me that you are the type of guy I think you are.” You honestly are not used hearing someone talking about you like this… most of the time people call you a catastrophe or worse… hearing this girl talking about you like you were a true hero…It makes you incredibly happy.

So you shake her hand, “Thanks, I promise I won’t turn you down.”
