Today is November 2nd, UC 0083. You are Commander Dominic 'Hara, and you're looking forward to a well-earned day or two of rest and relaxation in the lunar city of Von Braun. Monsha, who's been rather quiet since Lieutenant Bate died, disappeared as soon as you made port, and apparently Ensign Uraki has already left with Nina on a date. You've managed to convince your team to go for pizza at a small joint you know that you're convinced is the best on the moon. After that, you have something along the lines of a date set up with Haman AND Rossweisse.

You've assembled in the ready room, where Karen addresses you. “So, should we wear our uniforms?”

“It's the usual protocol,” Audrey replies. “At least on short-term leave.”

Catrina shakes her head. “There are a lot of Principality sympathizers and survivors in Von Braun after the war. Wearing our uniforms may bring down a lot of unwanted attention.”

>No reason not to wear your uniforms, the Zeek sympathizers don't intimidate you

"You know, I think I'm going to have to agree with Catrina," you tell them. "Going in our uniforms can only lead to problems."

"Right, civilian clothing only, no visible rank or unit information," Karen decides. "Fifteen minutes?"

Your team disperses, and returns in about fifteen minutes in varying civilian clothes. Haman and Rossweisse seem to have gone in for something a little fancier than the rest, but everyone seems like they could fit in fairly easily. You've chosen jeans and a nice shirt, which are pretty much the only civvies you've got.

"So where is this place?" Haman asks as you lead the group off the Albion and out into the city itself.

"It's actually close to the spaceport," you reply. "I remember it's on a back street where only the locals really know where to find it. I only ended up there 'cause I was lost."

"Funny how things just seem to work out sometimes, isn't it?" Reiko muses.

Carya laughs to herself. "Happens more often around some people than others."

It's about a twenty minute walk to the pizza place: "Massimo's", it's called. The exterior is nothing to write home about, but when you step inside it's... also nothing to write home about.

But the pizza, you recall. The pizza.

It takes you a few minutes to spot the small group in a well-shaded booth near the back of the restaurant: too well dressed for the situation. Tailored Armani suits, and slight bulges under their arms.

"Look over there," Audrey observes. "They don't seem too happy to see us."

“Stand fast, ladies,” you mutter. “I know the guy who owns the place. We're fine.”

“If you say so,” Haman replies.

After a few more minutes Vincenzo, the old Italian man who's owned the restaurant since you came here for shore leave during the war comes out to the front, and immediately recognizes you. He's nervous, and you get the distinct impression that while he's happy to see you his concerns over the group in back have only been worsened by your arrival.

“Dominic,” he greets you quietly. “Good to see you survived, young man, but you're here at a bit of an awkward time.”

“Who're the suits, Vinnie?” you ask in a low voice. “They giving you trouble?”

“No trouble yet,” he replies, “but they're mafioso. A capo is supposed to be in to meet one of their consigliere. May be trouble with you here.”

“None of my concern, Vinnie,” you reply. “I'm just here for the pizza, and I brought my unit with me. This is still the best pizza on the moon, right?”

Vinnie looks proudly at you. “You bet your Irish ass it is, kiddo. I'll get you a big booth. Just keep your heads down, alright?”

Vinnie seats your team, and you find yourself between Haman and Rosse, with the Sisters right across from you. You order a few different pizzas, and decide to share between the eight of you. The mafioso in the back glare at you, and one of them stands. He seems to want to come over and confront you, but the capo seems to arrive at just the right moment. He looks awfully familiar...

“Hey Freddie!” you call over to the man, who's about your age. “What's with the mustache?”

It takes a full five seconds for the capo to recognize you.

“Fuck, that's O'Hara,” he comments. Several seconds later, he shouts in fear. “Oh fuck, it's O'Hara!”

Two of the soldiers try to stop you as you walk over to Freddie, but you easily sidestep one punch and counter the second with your elbow, clearly breaking the second man's fingers with a casual grace that reminds you of all those fights back in high school. A time you usually try to forget, but which bears unusual relevance to Freddie's arrival.

“Not in the face!” he insists, covering his face with his hands.

“Long time no see, Freddie! I'm gonna have to come up with a new nickname for you now that you've dropped all that weight. Can't go calling you “Fat Freddie” anymore. Maybe Freddo?”

“I hated that nickname,” he replies defensively, dropping his hands to his sides. “And you know it.”

“Yeah, sure.”

The capo who used to be in a rival gang of delinquents in Londenion looks over at his own group's table. “Listen,” he tells you, “I've got some business with this guy, so hold off hitting me for now and I'll be with you in a few minutes.”

“What gives?” Karen asks. “Who's that guy?”

“Old rival,” you reply. “Figured he'd make it big even if he never made good.”

Your pizzas come out quickly, and Vinnie doesn't bat an eye at the borken-fisted soldier. He does know that you're probably responsible, and shakes his head at you in disbelief. Your teammates dug in quickly: the pizza really is still the best. Perfect, buttery, crispy crust with a slightly spicy and chunky sauce, covered with a blend of fresh cheeses and toppings good enough that you'd just eat them on their own.

"You weren't lying," Catherine tells you. "Amazing."

"Try some of this one, it's got bacon on it," Carya tells her, forcing a slice of the delicious bacon and onions onto her plate. Rossweisse seems to prefer the white pizza, and eats damn near half of it on her own. Haman and Karen prove that they're willing to try anything, and Reiko practically inhales the soprassata and olives.

Finally, Freddie excuses himself from his meeting, and pulls up a chair to the end of your table. "So, I hear you're a big-shot officer in the EFSF now," he tells you. "I'm impressed."

"So you're a capo in the Von Braun mafia," you reply. "Not surprised in the slightest."

"You should be glad I didn't have my boys 'escort' you out. I wouldn't dare deprive you of this."

"The pizza?" you ask.

"The pizza."

"But why are you so pissed at me?" you ask. "It's been a long time."

"It's only been three years."

"Yeah, but I still can't remember what I did to piss you off."

"You broke my jaw in two places and knocked out four of my teeth."

"They're all in the right place now," you reply. "Besides, if I remember correctly you hit my girlfriend. You deserved it."

"Whatever, fucker. I'm not here to talk about the good old days," Freddie tells you.

"Somehow I guessed it."

“Freelance work is off the table, prick,” you start. “And none of our weapons are gonna go “missing”, either.”

“Shut it,” he replies. “It's nothing like that. It's information that we've run across that we don't know what to do with.”

Karen shrugs. “So now we're getting our intel from the mafia, huh?”

“It's a legitimate source,” Reiko reminds her. “And since Anaheim is struggling with the decryption of our only other source, I think we should take it, ma'am.”

“Fine,” Karen concludes. “Let's have it out.” Everyone at the table leans in to get a look at Freddie as he pulls a few papers out of his coat pocket.

“We've got a few manifests here that don't really check out,” he tells you, handing the paperwork to Reiko and Cathernine, who immediately begin to pour over it.

“It seems someone is moving small shipments of surplus mobile suit parts into the city,” Freddie explains. “I can't make heads or tails of it, since I can't tell these damn entries apart, and a lot of them seem to be in codewords.”

Reiko nods. “Like “steampump” for “hydraulics”. I see.”

“Smart girls you have here,” Freddie tells you. “Lucky little fuck.”

“Focus on the details,” Catrina insists. “So is this it? Any leads on who's shipping it in?”

Freddie shakes his head. “No idea. The manifests don't show who sent them nor who's receiving them. I assume there are some folks here in Von Braun who are in on it, and have been taking the parts where they need to go once they get in.”

“You suspect Principality remnants?” you ask.

You sigh, leaning back into your chair. "Right. Karen, let's send these manifests back to the Albion for now. The rest of us should enjoy leave while we've got it."

Karen nods at you. "Sounds fine."

"Hey, before I go?" Freddie tells you as you finally walk out the door, nodding at Vinnie as you walk by. "Glad you survived. As much as I hate you sometimes, you turned out pretty good."

Freddie takes his leave, and your team seems to split up. Audrey and Catherine wander off in search of clothing shops, and Karen slips off with Reiko. You have no idea where they're going, but you've got their numbers in case something comes up.

"What was your nickname?" Carya asks you before the Sisters leave for whatever they have planned for the afternoon.

You pinch the bridge of your nose. "They called me the "Tooth Fairy"," you admit to them.

"That... probably wasn't an insult, was it?" Haman asks.

You shake your head. "No, I had a pretty good collection of them at one point. That's where the name came from."

Carya walks off laughing, and you're left with Haman and Rossweisse.

"So?" Rosse asks quietly, wondering if you have a plan for the day.

Haman claps her hands. "Then it's settled. Come on, Dominic. We'll go through the park, and it'll be a nice walk."

Finally, Haman spots a shop that seems to carry high-end swimwear.

"Sure thing," you tell them. "And before you ask, sure. I'd be fine giving you advice. I've been looking at women in bikinis for years... wait..."

Haman laughs, and Rossweisse raises one thin eyebrow. "I'll bet," she tells you in a low voice.

Stepping into the shop, you're immediately greeted by a nice, older woman. You also notice that the majority of these swimsuits are criminally expensive. As the girls start looking over the merchandise you find the token corner for men's swimwear, and find a nice pair of board shorts.

"What do you think?" you ask Haman as she steps out of the dressing room in a one-piece swimsuit with a yellow floral pattern. You poke your own butt out a little to show off the shorts: you've also made certain to lose your shirt, ostensibly because you wouldn't be wearing a shirt at the beach. "Do they make my butt look big?"

Haman's eyes linger on your abdomen for a moment, and you see her blush. "You're butt's fine, Dom. What about mine?"

"It looks fine," you tell her, "but somehow it seems too... conservative."

Haman nods and returns to her stall. Behind you, Rossweisse steps out. Her pale skin is mostly bared beneath her two-piece swimsuit. The top is black and yellow, with two metal rings just under her collarbones, and a twist in the fabric between her modest breasts. She's selected a short black skirt below it that's somehow skimpy AND modest at the same time.

"Nailed it," you tell her, and you mean it. Her first choice seems to set off her skintone, hair, and figure perfectly. She may have an actual talent at this.

I dunno actually. I'm a ginger. Just like Dom.
>>
>>34498438
Haman steps out again. "What about this?" This time she's wearing a cyan two-piece: the upper piece has two low triangles of fabric with bands that run under her arms and meet in the back, leaving little gaps of skin visible between the strips of fabric. It's impressive that a few extra pieces of material could emphasize her form that much more, and the result is at once simple and creative. The lower half is a simple lowleg side-tie affair that matches the other half, even though they seem to be from different manufacturers.

"I dunno," you admit, forcing a tone of uncertainty. "Spin."

Haman does as you request, and turns in place. Your eyes linger on her butt: perfect.

You let out a low whistle, and feel that Haman's slightly embarrassed at your obvious appreciation. "Yep. This'll do nicely."

You turn to look at Rossweisse, who is also looking Haman over. "Isn't this nice, Rosse?" you ask her.

"Indeed." Surprisingly, you feel Haman's embarrassment mount.

"I'll buy them," you offer.

Haman looks incredulous. "They cost $150 each," she informs you. "Are you really going to spend that much on us?"

You laugh at her jovially. "Sure I am. Listen, you know how much a Commander gets paid per month?"

"No, I don't."

"$6,150," you tell her. "Active-duty mobile suit pilots get 15% hazard pay, and test pilots get 20%. And I have hardly any expenses to speak of. I've got nearly half a million in a low-yield account my old man set up for me that I don't even know what to do with."

Haman looks at you aghast. "Seriously?"

You nod. "So come on, let me do something nice for you two."

Haman and Rossweisse agree, and you all change back into your street clothing. Then, you shell out nearly $400 on swimwear for the three of you.

"Thanks," Haman mumbles, embarrassed at your generosity. Rossweisse nods in agreement.

"So, I was thinking about where to get dinner," you tell them. "We can go for a swim in low-gravity, which I've heard is fun, and then I was thinking..."

Not quite. Your base pay is $6,150 per month, meaning your total pay for the year with 20% hazard pay is a little over $88k, with another $4.5k this year in interest on your savings account at around 1.2%.
>>
>>34499416
Oh, I thought the 15% and 20% were two separate things. 15% for being active-duty, 20% for being a test pilot. Instead it's 20% for being an active-duty test pilot. I get it now.

That's how you get up to shenanigans.

“I was thinking a nice jazz bar I heard of near here. They have talent night tonight tonight if I read their site right.”

“Sounds nice,” Haman admits. “But we can't drink.”

“I know,” you tell them. “You can watch me drink, though.”

As Haman glares at you, you raise your hands and laugh. “I'll see if I can get you a few on the quiet. Now, shall we try out the new suits?”

A few minutes away, you find a swimming pool. It has to be indoors, since any splashing would cause problems in microgravity were you outside. It turns out that while Haman certainly looks good in her suit, she's not an especially strong swimmer. Unsurprising, given her background. But as you float on your back, eying Rossweisse appreciatively, you learn that the dark-haired young woman is quite adept.

“Survival training,” she later explains when you ask her about it. Yeah, that sounds about right. Dr. Loki almost certainly wouldn't want to risk a water landing ending his precious 'project', so it makes sense he'd give her water survival training.

Some eyes turn at the sight of two lovely young women in expensive bathing suits hanging out with a stern-looking young man, and a few guys your age seem interested in either Rosse or Haman, but blanch when you glare at them. Maybe they can sense something about you, or maybe you're projecting, but the whole outing is strangely without incident.

Finally, after carefully drying yourselves and dressing, you make your way to the jazz bar: the Mare Azul. Inside you find low lights, comfortable chairs, and décor that seems to have been taken from the heyday of swing.

"It's every bit as nice as the pictures made it seem," you tell your little group. "I... hang on..."

On stage you see a familiar face sitting at the piano: her blonde hair is tied back in a simple ponytail, and she wears an elegant black dress that almost looks out of place on her given how well you know her, but you're positive it's Carya. She looks up, notices your group and smiles at you, but makes no effort to talk to you. Instead she focuses on what's in front of her, and begins to play.

"So this is where she ran off to," Haman observes. "I didn't know she played piano."

"She's done that to relax since I met her," you explain. "It's just Carya too, Catrina can't play at all."

"Huh. You learn something new every day."

A waiter seats the three of you around a table with a clear view of the stage. It's a perfect spot to listen in as Carya works the piano over like an old professional, her fingers betraying a sense of playfulness you haven't seen from her in a long time. Catrina is nowhere to be felt, likely as relaxed as everyone else in the room is.

"Well, dinner and a show," Haman tells you. "I like it."

"Classy," Rossweisse adds.

But now, drinks. All the drinks.

"And let's get some barbecue for me, with hush puppies and corn." Haman orders blackened catfish, and Rossweisse orders a half rack of ribs, while Carya starts a playful duet with the house's clarinetist.

"So," Haman asks as you wait for your food. "What do you think about these mobile suit parts coming in? Who could possibly be putting them to use?"

"And where?" Rossweisse wonders quietly.

My guess is that it's something high-value enough to be worth the effort put into repairing a single suit. Might even be a mobile armor, though God knows where they would get their hands on it. Probably not related to the Delaz Fleet, they'd have more resources to put into constructing it, so it's likely we're dealing with either pirates or an isolated Zeon Remnant group working on their own."

I dunno about that.

Terrorizing Von Braun might actually be detrimental to whoever provides the parts, seeing as how they're being given a pass by either sympathizers or those staff shady enough to want to deal with them.
This'll be one less friendly port of call and one less business contact they'll have if that's their angle.
>>

“Not sure. How do you like the whiskey?”

“It's strong,” Haman admits, “but it's also smooth and kind of sweet. I like it.”

“Like him?” Rossweisse taunts.

You both laugh at Haman's frustration before you continue. “Honestly, it's got to be someone with the skills to repair a mobile weapon, and given the number of parts I'd say they're refurbishing a mobile armor,” you theorize. “God knows where they got it.”

“That's what I was thinking,” Haman agrees. “But where could they be doing it under the nose of the authorities? Or do they just not care? And who's funding it all?”

“Delaz,” Rossweisse offers.

“In all likelihood, yes,” you reply, sipping at your Scotch. “Damn good Scotch.”

Your food soon arrives. It's classic southern American fare, and it's very well prepared. The barbecue has just a kiss of heat to it, and the hush puppies are just crispy enough on the outside without being dry on the inside. The musical accompaniment is brilliant as well, and you nod to the Sisters in thanks. They seem well aware of how you're doing with the younger women, and they're practically laughing to themselves as they play.

You flag down the waiter and order a dry Brunello rose for the table, which goes well with your respective meals. Haman seems impressed at your selection.

“I had no idea the Irish knew anything about wine,” she comments.

“I'm not actually Irish,” you remind her. “Londenion isn't Ireland.”

Rossweisse snickers, probably because that came across as a little defensive.

“So, how do you think Kou got on with Nina?”

You shake your head. “Not my business, but that kid's got to grow a spine pretty quick or he won't go anywhere with her.”

“He's 19,” Rossweisse reminds you.

“And unlike the three of us, he's still a kid in a lot of ways.”

“Let's head back soon,” you decide. “We've got two newbie drinkers here, and I want us to all be functional in the morning.”

“Fine,” Haman agrees reluctantly. “It makes sense, I guess.”

After paying the tab, and letting Carya take another bow to a still-appreciative audience, you head out. In doing so, your little group draws attention yet again: three pretty young women with one man isn't that unusual, but having one or more of them hanging off of you at a time certainly raises a few eyebrows.

You don't care, though. Life is good.

Your arrival at the Albion's berth is well-timed, as it seems the rest of your team had roughly the same idea at the same time.

“So what were you two doing all day?” you ask Audrey and Catherine as they stroll up the ramp.

Audrey grins. “We ended up going to the same show as Nina and Uraki. Then we had to bail Uraki out after a bunch of highschool thugs goaded him into a fight.”

“I punched a guy in the throat!” Catherine announces proudly.

Karen laughs loudly and claps the secretary on her shoulder. “You're sure fitting in here alright!”

“Is Uraki okay?” Reiko asks.

“He's fine,” Audrey assures her. “Some jerkass blacked his eye though. So how did the four of you enjoy your free time?”

“I went to talent night at Mare Azul,” Carya tells her. “It was nice, and Dom and the others turned up for dinner.”

“Two young ladies at once, huh?” Karen teases. “I STILL think if we could weaponize you, the war would be won.”

"We'll work something out,” you tell them both.

Haman raises an eyebrow. “Really? You realize what you're asking us, right?”

“And you'd prefer if I told one or the other of you to wait in the next room? If I told you I wanted to sleep with Rossweisse, but not with you?”

There's a moment of silence. “I guess you have a point.”

“It's the kind of thing I'll have to consider from here on.”

Haman seems a little hesitant still, but her hesitation disappears when Rossweisse drags you wordlessly into their quarters.

The next morning finds you momentarily disoriented at the sensation of being bodily pinned to the bunk. Two breaths, two heartbeats, tell you what happened last night.

Looking around, you see clothing strewn about the room. The clock on the table next to you is covered by your shorts, and you find yourself unable to free your arm from underneath Haman's body.

For a few minutes at least, you elect to simply enjoy the moment. Haman's head nuzzles contentedly against your chest, and you hear her mumble something inaudibly to herself in her sleep. Rossweisse, however, seems to already be awake. She lovingly rubs one of her legs against yours, and shifts her weight just enough for you to free your arm.

You reach awkwardly across Haman's back, and find that underneath your underwear the clock reads 06:50. You have about 10 minutes before you're expected to be up and about. Next door the Sisters are stirring, and seem a little amused at your apparent success last night.

Eventually they come in from your shared bathroom, taking the burden of waking Haman off your shoulders.

"Time to get going, lovebirds," Catrina announces loudly as Haman rolls off the bed in surprise. "Get on some clothes and let's get to it."

By around 07:15, your team has assembled in the ready room.

"Okay," Karen announces. "Let's go over what we know. Reiko?"

"We have manifests detailing a large number of parts coming in," she recounts. "Priority is finding where they're going."

"I couldn't tell what unit they'd be for," Catherine admits. "So I can't say exactly what we're looking for."

"All I know is it's enough for several mobile suits, or one mobile armor," Audrey concludes. "Possibly the latter."

"So where do we look?" Karen continues.

Carya seems to have a few thoughts, but Haman and Rossweisse seem a little tired to think on their toes.

>where do we look

If we can get a rough timeframe as to when the next shipment is coming in, we can tale the delivery to it's destination. When does the 'sketchy' cargo come in? Daily? Weekly? Monthly? Is it all performed by a single ship? Multiple? Is the HLVs and shuttles under a privately owned company or is it a government contract?

It's time to call up our good friend, Freddie.

>>34502610
Get Carya's thoughts.
we can add our ideas to it.
"Since they are probably trying to keep this secret, it would make sense that they would at least store the parts somewhere where they would not be too obvious... possibly along with other machine parts. Maybe a garage or scrapyard... Either would have sufficient machine parts for MS components to be overlooked on a cursory inspection. There would need to be enough space to actually work on the suits, maybe hide it under a pile of scrap when not being worked on..."
>>
>>34502610
>Add your own perspective (write-in)
"I think we should contact the life support department. Testing a suit to make sure it's properly repaired would lead to a fairly large heat spike from the reactor activating. Examining the readout from the temperature sensors throughout the colony might be narrow our search area."
>>
>>34502678
We're pretty much anti-Scirocco now. At some point we need to design and build our own mobile suit just to make sure he doesn't have anything to one up us on. And now it occurs to me the many euphemisms we can make related to the name "The O" and Dominic's sexual prowess.

Geneseeds and Primarchs were created using the Emps knowledge he gained from G Gundam.
>>
>>34502610
"So what're your thoughts, Carya?"

"I'm thinking the bottom level," she tells you. "It's the highest concentration of repair facilities and scrapyards, which would be a good place to hide the machine under repair."

"Sound place to start," Karen agrees. "Dominic, you look like you have an idea?"

You nod. "There may have been a strong enough heat spike for the environmental control center to pick it up."

"That..." Audrey begins, with Rossweisse and Haman suddenly perking up. "That's actually brilliant."

"So it's settled," Karen concludes. "Today we send one team to the environmental control center, and the rest of us will search the bottom level of the city for a scrapyard with at least one functioning mobile weapon. Sounds like a plan."

So that's it for Thread #21. Tomorrow will be Thread #22, where things may get a little tense on several fronts.

It's good to be back, and I hope you enjoyed it. Thanks for playing!

I'll open up to any questions people may have for a bit before I knock off.
>>
>>34502840
who's your favorite character to write?
>>
>>34502809
There's a quest over on Spacebattles right now that's kind of like that. It's Turn A with the premise that the Correct Century literally is the future of every Gundam timeline. Disasters and calamities engineered by some nebulously defined Adversary keep destroying civilization and forcing it to rebuild from the stone age. And, presumably, altering archeological evidence so people don't realize this. We've got access to an AI that seems to have been created by the first civilization, so it educates us about the past cycles. Though we learn far more from the psycoframe of the Turn X imparting the memories of the last pilot of the machine to us in our dreams. It's pretty neat.

Glad to have you back. Not getting a thread last weekend sucked, but I've got three quests to catch up on, so it worked out.

Good thread, can't wait for tomorrow. Thanks again KoH!
>>
>>34502881
Oh, neat. Yeah, that scene was...well, I enjoyed it, anyway. It's just not right to have a Loran that doesn't have to crossdress. I'm glad that changed in the reboot of the quest.
>>
>>34502840
Pretty long session there for a so-called fanservice ep, Hearts. But it was oh so satisfying.
Thanks for running.

Oh, questions. Hmm... not really much, but I was speculating that while on shore leave, a drunken Monsha may have unknowingly stumbled upon a disguised Cima and tried to hit on her.

The results were so severe that he hasn't been a problem for the entire Albion crew throughout this thread.
>>
>>34502861
Honestly? Rossweisse. It's interesting to judge exactly how 'open' to make her in any given situation. The Sisters are a love/hate sort of thing: they were the first character(s) I outlined, and I love writing them, but making them distinct enough in context to seem like two people rather than one schizophrenic character is a challenge.

It's also why the smut is slow in coming. It just doesn't work as smoothly.
>>
>>34502935
I see, cool. Good to know. also w/r/t the smut, all good things in time ;)
>>
>>34502935
Well, you've done a good job of it. I've gotten a pretty distinct view of the differences between them. Nothing I can easily put into words, but they're definitely distinct people.

Archive is up. Unless anyone has last-minute questions, I'm off for bed.
