Stage 29: Eyes Upon Ryukusa.

You've read the books. You've seen the paintings. You've seen all sorts of art. Nothing can compare to her in person. Beautiful isn't the correct word for it. Of all the beautiful women and girls you've ever seen, none of them have ever made your body clench in all these wonderful ways, heart, mind, body, everything....all these ways, to this degree. If it weren't for the fact you can't tear your eyes away from her, you might have gotten away with claiming you weren't nearly that affected, since unlike a man it isn't quite as obvious, but even attempting to deny that she makes you feel that way seems....feels like a sort of blasphemy.

Her eyes are the color of the darn sky, a pale blue-green, and there are faint flame following the markings on her face. They aren't paint – they're not even skin markings, that you can discern. They're just part of her the way her white hair that dissolves into inky black smoke is, or how her clothing is perfectly in place even standing along a six inch wide wall two-hundred-and-twenty feet up in the Shinjuku district. She has tiny fangs and wolf-like ears, except when she doesn't.

Beautiful isn't the word. Perfect is the word. Yet she's not perfect – she is Omikami, yes, and she is the greatest of them all, but she can err. She can make mistakes. She is powerful, but not all powerful. But even those things, you suspect might be a choice for her, not a factual reality.

Also, she's tiny, only just a touch taller than Kiku-chan. Definitely not a Lolita type though. Oh no.

“You seem only a little shocked. I think that is good, Ryuu Ryukusa.” She slowly walks around you, her geta tapping on the stone wall, and even though the wall doesn't feel like it changes and you only turn to face her, she still manages to walk entirely around you on a six inch wide ledge. It seems like the landlord isn't the only one who can make sure things are what she likes. “You are growing into a fine woman, I think.” The words sound oddly familiar.

[] Okay, you have no idea what you really want to talk to her about.
[] Do you always answer our prayers so personally, Amaterasu-Omikami?
[] Really, you need to think of something.
[] ….kawaii....
[] Will you bless my marriage, Amaterasu-Omikami?
[+] Thank you very much for hearing my prayer Amaterasu-Omikami.

I think the plus means it's a given, but yaknow.

Oh god, the impertinence! No glomping the greater deity!

Somewhere I would like to say something to the point that we're in a lot of trouble, and realize the trouble we could cause could be a lot of trouble to all of Japan, and perhaps she could give some advice on how not to cause so much trouble in the process, if it wouldn't be any trouble. Oh And I hope it isn't too much trouble that we left Kusanagi with Hinata Hakase, she promised to keep it from causing us trouble, and we wouldn't want that to cause her undue trouble.
>>
[XXXXX] Eek.
[X] ….just a little hug?
[X] Will you bless my marriage, Amaterasu-Omikami?
[+] Thank you very much for hearing my prayer Amaterasu-Omikami.

You immediately bow, and bow again, eyes closed, your heart pounding in your chest, and not entirely for all the right reasons. I mean, yes, she is THE Goddess, and yes, she is answering your prayer, but she's just....just CUTE and BEAUTIFUL, and NICE! It's a little overwhelming. The merest thought of touching Amaterasu-Omikami without her express permission, though it is both involuntary, fleeting, and utterly unavoidable, is terrifying enough to make your heart literally stop beating for a moment, and you pale, your hand covering your heart. How do miko cope with it? How does her priestess cope with being ~possessed~ by her?

She smiles gently, even sympathetically, and you feel all right, if a touch shaken; apparently the many, many, endless and constant purification ceremonies aren't just for show or simple ritual....they're protection from the repercussions of being in the slightest contact with a Great Kami.

It doesn't take you too long to recover your scattered wits, though, and she patiently waits for you to do so, as if she has all the time in the world just for you. You bow yet again and she giggles softly, the sound thrilling and so very sweet. “Many thanks from this small dragonette for answering my tiny prayers, Amaterasu-Omikami! Please forgive me for not preparing offerings!”

“Well, if it is Ryuu Ryukusa, it cannot be helped,” she murmurs, amused. Her voice sounds familiar, for just that instant, even though her voice sounds like no voice you have ever heard.
>>
>>34482354
If it were anyone else, they couldn't manage this. Hell you might not manage it well. But it is you, and for Her, you will do this. You Give her a full warrior's salute on the six inch wide top of the wall, taking every care neither to plunge yourself to an ignominious death nor step on the spikes which decorate the wall, and then you kowtow as best you can afterwards. Amaterasu-Omikami's smile brightens, and you know this because you can FEEL it on your skin and in your head. “May I please request for my family your blessing to be married, Amaterasu-Omikami, if it please you to grant this worthless dragonette a troublesome request?”

She lays her hand upon your shoulder and it's the softest, sweetest, and one of the most strangely familiar touches you have ever experienced. As though someone did this, recently, and this is the same person doing so again. “You will be a fine husband, and a fine wife, and a fine father, and a fine mother. I believe your marriage is already blessed, but you may have my meager blessing as well.” She gently helps you to rise, which strangely seems to require no effort despite your precarious perch. The Goddess reaches out and takes your left hand, touching the black jade ring, your ring. She bows over it, and lightly presses her lips to the beautiful stone, and you can't help but notice how much of her cleavage you can see from that angle.
>>
>>34482397

Her eyes catch yours and you blush, all the way to your breasts, your cheeks and ears burning as she rises. The gleaming red ring almost shines with an inner light, the surface even more smoothly polished and glistening than before. Her smile doesn't falter at all as she rises. “Surely you did not think me so much a narcissist to be drawn out of hiding merely by my own reflection in a mirror, did you, Ryuu Ryukusa?” she chides gently, referring to the legend where she hid in a cave after Susano-Oh went on his legendary rampage, only his gift of Kusanagi-no-Tsurugi restoring peace entirely. But it was the goddess of mirth dancing that was said to have drawn out the hidden goddess, and the laughter of those gods who were watching her dance naked for them. When she saw her reflection in the sacred mirror, the Imperial Treasure Yata-no-Kagami, she finally left the cave and light returned to the world.

Or, perhaps not!

[] I would not dare to judge, Amaterasu-Omikami.
[] Well, I can see why seeing someone so beautiful as you would definitely make you take a second look, Amaterasu-Omikami.
[] ….did you just tacitly approve of my family's ways, Amaterasu-Omikami?
[] If you are asking me 'have I stopped beating my wife' questions, the answer is 'what kind of person asks such a question,' Amaterasu-Omikami....for which I humbly apologize.
[] Amaterasu-Omikami, I am a stupid lizard, please do not ask such difficult questions of me!

[XXX] Well, I can see why seeing someone so beautiful as you would definitely make you take a second look, Amaterasu-Omikami.
[XX] If you are asking me 'have I stopped beating my wife' questions, the answer is 'what kind of person asks such a question,' Amaterasu-Omikami....for which I humbly apologize.
[X] I would not dare to judge, Amaterasu-Omikami.

You're of two minds really. She's asking you to make a personal observation on her own legends and her sexuality, and she's being....incredibly casual, almost familiar with you. Not at all what you expected in a lot of ways. The mere thought of touching her sends your heart skittering again, though when she touched you you were fine....more than fine. Her hand felt so ~familiar~.

“To be truthful, Amaterasu-Omikami, seeing someone as beautiful as yourself would draw even the most humble, fearful, or saddened person from their hiding place.” The words feel awkward, though you know they came out in your gentle, honest, clever manner. Just being near her makes you feel tongue-tied and childish, yet there's the sense that you can do nearly no wrong, either. Still....you lower your eyes for a second and speak very softly. “But the way to ask such a question, it almost sounds like you are asking me such a thing as 'have I stopped beating my wife.' A trap to which the only answer is to question the quality of a person who asks such a question, Amaterasu-Omikami....please forgive this stupid lizard's crude speaking, since she would never dare judge such a personage as would ask that question of her.” You eyes flick up to her face – and then you stare as she laughs, loudly, and not an old woman's laugh, or a mocking laugh.

She's laughing like you just tickled her and gave her a kitten and face-planted into a cake all at once. It's the most wonderful laugh you've ever heard, because it is an honest, truthful, absolutely gorgeously happy laugh from her lips, and you prompted it.

“That is the truth of Ryuu Ryukusa, who even protects the smiles of youkai girls!” she exclaims, her cheeks blooming red with her laughter and she wipes shining diamonds of mirthful tears away with a finger. The sunlight through the clouds seems to gather around her, a shimmering rainbow arc in her presence. “To have been the second to speak with you, you have given me much honor and you are a wonder to behold, even still as you are, Ryuu Ryukusa!”

….you've heard that phrase before. Almost that exact phrase, in nearly that exact voice.

Hold on! What the heaven did she just say?!

[] Forgive my impertinence, but....second?
[] I don't understand what you mean by 'still as I am' I'm afraid.

[X] Hard things, to be sure....

She looks up at you, her smile still brilliant and glee shining in her bright blue-and orange eyes, the sunrise colors in them what you would be seeing on the horizon behind her. Her gaze makes your heart thump, not from fear or terror, as before, but with her gentle, earnest kindness. No. Not kindness. It's far more than just kindness. “Amaterasu-Omikami, you will absolutely turn my head, saying such familiar things to me! My wife would....probably approve, to be honest.”

“They are all very devoted to you, Ryuu Ryukusa. It is only proper that they support you in such ways as pleases you and they alike.” Her smile is warm and she steps a bit closer, her hand drawing strands of your dark midnight-sea hair from your face. “It is not so difficult a face to have turned in ones' direction so long as one is kind and gentle to those you love.”

You have heard that exact phrase before. Not something like it, not a similar or familiar. That very phrase. “You have been watching me all along....but it was evening when I fought the mukade youkai, Amaterasu-Omikami.”

She sighs and tucks those strands of hair behind your ear, her fingers lightly brushing the narrowed tip. It makes you shudder, and you want to collapse in her arms, hold her, cry into her shoulder. But it's not your sadness, it's hers. “My brother and I do not speak but once in great whiles, but all he sees I still see, as with Yata-no-Kagami, Ryuu Ryukusa. It is surely not so strange that so many eyes are upon you?”
>>
>>34483667
You close your eyes, the surge of emotion rocking your world....you open your eyes and whisper softly, “Even that pain, I would take from you, if I could....” Her warm smile is a benediction that lifts that phantom sorrow from you, relieving you of her own burden.

“It is who you are, Ryuu Ryukusa. One could expect nothing less of you, than this.” Amaterasu-Omikami lowers her hand and you feel strangely lighter, more centered in yourself than ever before.

>Chi Rises.

“Amaterasu-Omikami....I was not aware I spoke to another before you.” Another referring to the Great Kami, the true Gods. “This impertinent dragonette would not have dared to do so, even foolish as she is.”

She smiles brightly and the relief is overwhelming. “You spoke to Kamuy Fuchi, she of the Hearth, the Community, the Sorceress, Ryuu Ryukusa. Not as directly, but through she whom served as her mouth and ears, if not her eyes.” Er Yin, in the barrier – Miko-Kiku-chan mentioned that you would be speaking to the representative of the goddess in her place of power, but you hadn't thought she meant it literally at the time.

….wait. You remember now. You didn't remember before because her presence is overwhelming....because her singular nature wipes out every trace of individuality. But they're all there, just under the surface, carefully hidden. Where does kimoto rest within a kamuy or a great kami when they are at home?

Kiki-hime's exact words, that they are all very devoted to you.

Kiku, stating that you would protect even the smile of youkai girls.

Akari, explaining that if it's you, it can't be helped.

Even Yui's peculiar tilt of head, her odd gaze that adores and is bemused, even as you amuse her.

Of course she would see your true form. She's seen you in every way, in many situations. Though many eyes.

[X] A kiss before dying. At least you'll die happy when you burst into divine flames.

It could just be the way a Great Kami manifest. It could be just a figment of your imagination. She is the universe, in a very real way, and it would make sense that everything you hold most dear is reflected in her.

But you don't really think it's your imagination or your clever mind being deceived. Her glowing eyes, bright gold as the sun that shines upon you both widen, and her smile grows as you step closer, hesitant, unsure.

At first.

You reach out your left hand and slowly caress her bare shoulder, feeling the markings upon her person and knowing that they are not mere spells, or symbols, or mystic signs, but they are her, more than the body she wears, or the smoking ink of her white hair, or the flames that lick along the ideogram of her self she wears upon her face and forehead. She is everything and you are her protector, her avenger, the one she will send to destroy those who she deems needs be.

You slowly run your other hand along her bare shoulder, ignoring the searing agony of that touch. The pain is nothing compared to what she deserves from you, and you lean close, and kiss Amaterasu-Omikami, softly, then deeply, upon her full, shining lips, the universe a white hot lance of power in your mind, burning everything away into that soft, warm kiss.

The kiss lasts an instantaneous eternity, and she breaks it slowly, gently, your hands falling away and your head clearer than it has ever been in your life. Your heart thrums against your Pearl, and you feel your true kimoto, held within it waiting for the moment you need it. The power of Ame-no-Horobi-no-Mikado, lover of Inari, Dragon God of Destruction.

Amaterasu-Omikami's chosen one.

You take a step back, and another step back, your head spinning and the world filled with soft darkness and bright sparks of light. You stumble, and her fingertips catch those of your left hand, as you nearly collapse, and just that touch, just those mere fingertips, steady you and keep you on your feet as you hyperventilate.

“Ryuu Ryukusa, you are so odd....” she murmurs softly, a sort of bewildered amusement in her sweet voice, much as Yui's would say that you are totally gay in.

You go to one knee, more to steady yourself, than as obeisance. Though it really is that as well. “Why me, Amaterasu-Omikami? Why chose me, for this?” Your voice is rough in your ears, your throat tight and unforgiving. “What other name is it that you have and I do not dare speak?”

The Goddess of the Sun, She Who Speaks for the Entire Universe crouches before you, her hands on her knees, her white, cloudy hair transforming into inky darkness at the ends, her brilliant eyes of sunlight glowing as she smiles at you, indulgent and patient as the Sun. “Would you rather have a kind and gentle person of great skill to stand behind you, who will not hesitate nor fail you, who will cut enough to do the duty you need, no more, no less? Or a powerful, cruel, strong person at your back, who will do what is asked and make sure that there will be no question that it is done, regardless of how badly it is done or how shamefully he has done it?”

She's speaking of seppuku: a proper act requires the samurai to cut their own belly, but their second , the person at their back – to cut their head ~nearly~ off, while severing the neck entirely. Beheading is not done to samurai, only to peasants and criminals. Skill and kindness. Power and brutality. Horobi or Susano-Oh.

[X] Truly, you are foxy woman, Amaterasu-Omikami.
[X] Really, Amaterasu-Omikami, a girl?
[XXXXX] Is it bad form to tell you that I love you, Amaterasu-Omikami?

[X] I understand.

You lower your head, speaking very softly. “I understand, Amaterasu-Omikami, Megitsune-dono.” She blinks in surprise, and then laughs again, that joyful, uninhibited, gloriously mirthful laugh that makes you look up and smile at her, rising carefully to your feet. Her fingers slip away from yours but there is no sense of loss or twinge of regret. “Would it be too much for this worthless dragonette, this pitiful lizard, to say that she loves Amaterasu-Omikami?” Your voice is small, soft, and you feel your cheeks and ears burn....and your breasts as well, the temerity of the suggestion far beyond your allowances.

“Ryuu Ryukusa....I hear those words in your voice every day and every night,” she says softly, her hands gentle and hot against your cheeks as she steps closely. “I hear them in every prayer, and in every word, and in every breath, and every heartbeat. Your life, gives me life, and without you, I would be lost.” You know that the words have many metaphorical meanings, many symbolisms, many interpretations....but you look into those glowing eyes, those bright, joyous, sad, loving eyes, and you can't help but believe she means exactly what she says.

“I trust you, you holds the mikoto of Ame-no-Horobi-no-Mikado, to take that burden no sooner, nor no later than the time appointed.” Her voice is fire and light and orchestra and power. “The mantle is yours to take, and no ones to give. When you take up that tool which is to be yours, you are beholden to none save Kamuy Fuchi, Ryujin Owatatsumi, and Amaterasu-Omikami.” Her voice softens, warm and sweet and gentle and for you alone. “you will speak to none of my visit, and there will be no other, save you call upon the name of the fox, which may be but once at the direst need.”

You don't bother arguing or promising- she said so, it's true. You'll never speak of what transpired here....but you'll remember forever.

The sun is nearly over the horizon, and she smiles sadly, but not unhappily. “Was there ought else, save your love you wished to speak of?”

You smile, because, you really, really can't help it. You'd hate yourself forever if you didn't because, well, kamidamit, she freakin' asked!

“Amaterasu-Omikami....a girl? Truly?”

That bright, sparkling laughter again and she shakes her head, but not in negation or in an effort to avoid the question, but to encourage you to ask any last question you may have of her before she answers that one.

I'm assuming here we should ask something about the present, as things are, since XS has said that, as far as we know, Amaterasu cannot see the future (although she probably has a DAMNED good idea of what'll happen).

Asking her about what is going on with our enemies and their agendas comes to mind, as does those of our allies. Heck, asking about our sister could work too.

[X] Must Horobi's return harm Japan?

There aren't too many questions she can answer directly – she may be nearly omnipotent, but omniscient she is not. Still, there is one unfortunate truth you keep getting hit with again and again. You take a slow deep breath, and try and control the fear that sneaks into your heart when you recall the vision of the tidal wave about to consume all of Tokyo.

“Amaterasu-Omikami....is there nothing that can prevent the destruction I will cause when I take that name, that power? I do not want to hurt our people, our homeland.” Her smile and wry, and it's obvious she suspected some similar question, if not that one. “Is there anyone who could help prevent that, even, Amaterasu-Omikami?” The knowledge – the foreknowledge – is a burden, and it doesn't help that your sister's Water Eyes are supposed to have set that future in stone.

Her expression changes, as you ask if there is anyone who can help, and while she may not read your mind, she knows the minds of your family fairly well, on a hunch. Her expression becomes even more serious, and she steps up to you, into you, her arms sliding up your back, rising onto the tips of her toes in her geta. She embraces you, and it's heaven, it's bliss, it's

Japan is tearing itself apart, not physically, but spiritual, and mentally. The huge separation of the people from each other, the poor, the rich, the powerful, the weak, the darkening of the world's chi through bad planning and unfortunate choices, the poisons seeping into the waters, the air. The people are too far from each other and the kami to help each other grow through it to greater things, and it hurts, it hurts so bad, the pain is agonizing

ithurtsithurtsithurts

She is kissing you, and the pain is gone, her warmth, her love, her strength, her support keeps you from falling to the ground hundreds of feet below. Her lips are soft against yours, her fingers in your hair, touching your horns. Her breasts move against yours as she breathes, and Amaterasu-Omikami gives you of herself to taste, a soul kiss, honey and sunlight and life. She lowers herself and looks up at you, and you're not ashamed to admit despite that moment of agonizing horror, you've never been more turned on in your life.

“Horobi does not punish, Ryuu Ryukusa. Horobi only destroys what is needful to be destroyed.” She traces the tears along your cheeks lightly, paints gentle ideograms upon your blushing face. “If the Kami, because of our people, or because of each other, cannot being together Japan....then one Kamuy can do so. I would rather that one Kamuy do so than I would wish to see my people, one of your darker kind, starting a war to express the suffering of out people.” She kisses your tear-stained cheeks lightly, and you feel beloved and forgiven, and most of all, trusted.

She knows exactly what Taisho Ryoga is up to, and your worst fears are realized. Then the blessing that is her smile rushes through your body and you can't prevent your lips from returning her smile. “Your father will not be insulted that you visit last. He will be very pleased to see you. Perhaps he can help you guide your power when the time comes. Perhaps he cannot. But from him you may receive Yasakani-no-Magatama....unless you wish to carry Yata-no-Kagami instead.”

[X] I will have to decide later, Amaterasu-Omikami, it is a difficult decision.
[X] I placed the sword in the hands of Hinata-hakase, Amaterasu-Omikami....I am sorry.

You shake your head slightly. “I could never decide now. I do not understand enough, and would make a bad decision, Amaterasu-Omikami. Please allow me to decide later....” Her laughter is soft and sweet and she snuggles up against you, her face pressed to your breasts as you blush, not expecting that response at all. You carefully reach down, and stroke her hair, and get lost in the impossible, silken cloud of beaituful white and deepest black.

“As expected of Ryuu Ryukusa,” the voice that is nearly Kiki-hime's, yet so much more than hers. “You would no longer need them, to be truthful. Did you not shed your tears for me?” She leans back, still embracing you, her white hot eyes that should be blinding gazing upon you with nothing but love and adoration and understanding.

“But Amaterasu-Omikami....I left....I left Ame-no-Murakumo-no-Tsurugiwith Hinata-hakase....Your servant is truly pathetic and humbly begs forgiveness....”

Her eyes sparkle and she reaches up and touches your lips lightly. The Universe tastes like sweet tea. “It is good that you did so, for your uncle would be angered. With her, it is at least in his daughter's reach, if not her hands. You have other duties, that must take your attention – my brother is not your foe, unless you draw his ire to you.” She steps back ans the sun completely rises over the world, no longer the slightest bit hidden. “Good morning, Ryuu Ryukusa....and you are the one who likes girls so much! So many lovely young men would have been a sight to see with you!”

[X] Oh kami, please don't let this blow up until I've had breakfast.

“Gomennasai, neko-sama,” you murmur softly, and very politely, stroking her head gently. She purrs, and rolls over onto her back, stretching. You continue to per her absently, still a little bemused, possible shocked by the suggestion that the universe would conform to your desires that willingly. You glance at the cat with Water Eyes and she glares back at you, her two tails swaying from under her rather short white skirt and her blouse untucked and showing a rather cute belly button. She looks about seventeen, but with two tails and the kami's eyes, she's probably in her late two or three hundreds.

“That's kinna rude, y'know.” She's lying along the wall on her back, looking p at you, her ankles crossed, and she should be impaled on all the spikes she's laying on, but then, she's a true youkai, not a half-breed.

“I really am sorry, I was kind of trying to not look for trouble. Really.” You stand up slowly and hold out your hands, in a placatory gesture.

She stares at you a moment longer, then rolls onto her feet and stretches....really stretches, very nicely. Her lower back is kind of pretty; but those two tails are worrisome. “Well, you were talking to HER so I guess you're okay.” She turns around, as sure footed as you are on the wall. “I'm Rie. You're Ryuu Ryukusa.”

You bow politely. “It is entirely my pleasure to meet you, Rie-sama. Can I offer you breakfast? I made quite a bit, or I can simply leave you a plate.”

Her ear perk instantly. “Octopus?” You lucked out on that one.

“I have takoyaki already made up, and it's been resting nicely. It should be very good by now.” Thank you, thank you, thank you Amaterasu!

“Okay, it's a deal!”

“Do you mind if I ask ~which~ morons you won't be telling?”

She shakes her head, her tails swaying back and forth independently of one another.

“Which moron's were they?” you ask curiously, avoiding the trap that you tricked Kiki-hime with, and keeping an even temper.

She grins, baring a full set of rather sharp teeth. “The ones looking for your pretty little schoolgirl in the black dress!” Rie must not like them, she didn't try to make you say please or make you ask her several times or even beg. Or she REALLY likes octopus. And that also means she knows Kiku-chan's there, so she's not after Kiku-chan, which is also a relief.

“Just so you know, the little redheaded one, she's got a history, so please forgive her if she's rude.” Ryuu Wakaba isn't hunting for you, or if she is, she's got an insane mad-on for Akari-chan. “Would you like me to leave it on the porch or would you like to join us?”

She hopscotches along the points of the spikes on the wall. “Oh, the porch is fine, just sprinkle some hot sauce on it and no one else will touch it. Bai!” Without another word the cat leaps off the wall, onto a rooftop, her tail swishing wildly as she hunts a pigeon.

…..yeah, that breakdown is sounding really good now.

Next episode, Ryukusa looks in the mirror, feeds a cat, has a mild breakdown, and the training begins.

I hope.

>being a cat is awesome

Glad you all enjoyed it.

Ti,e enough for two or three questions, though I doubt there will be too many this time.

One freebie: Offering Rie-sama breakfast worked in your favor quiet heavily, meaning you didn't have to resort to diplomacy or bribery to find out some of what she knew or if she had ties to Kiku-chan.
>>
>>34488181
Well it's a cat, even if not a common housecat, so naturally food is the best approach.
You won't take away the loli, right? Right?
>>
>>34488208
Rie has nothing at all to do with Kiku-chan. As long as Kiku-chan stays away from Rie, she'll be safe, and Kiku-chan will stay FAR AWAY from any cat.

Would the Yasaka Magatama dislike us at all? I imagine it's way less judgmental than Kusanagi, but still, if it is representative of Mercy or Benevolence it might not want to hang out with someone who's duty could be considered opposite to it's nature.
I do still think that would be the best for Ryukusa though.

Good.

the Jewel would not mind being held by Ryukusa, as there is a sort of benevolence in her duty - Horobi doesn't destroy things out of spite, hatred, or even anger - it is a duty and that is all. she might BE angry when she does some of her work, but it won't be doing her work out of anger.

The Mirror serves a different purpose entirely, and it will the relationship it may have with Ryukusa is unusual in comparison to the other two treasures.

Would trying to reconect the Japanese with the spirits of their country be a suitable goal?
>>
>>34488570
Having such a choice be so binary might not be what XS is going for. I think it would be closer to two different paths leading to the same destination.
>>
>>34488181
Thanks for running XS.
>>
>>34488636
I think you quoted the wrong post
>>
>>34488742
Mis-read it. Didn't get enough sleep as usual. Still wonder if holding both treasures is an option, or whether that'd cause too much butthurt.
>>
>>34488570
Consider that in order for Horobi to be reincarnated properly, not only did Ryujin's wife have to bear the child, Ryujin had to chose to get his wife pregnant (and he's fully in control of that - he's an ocean dragon and therefore a fertility deity by default), and Inari would have to approve entirely.

If it is possible, it will not be by ordinary means at all, and certainly not by a mere dragonette....that's the duty and prerogative of demigods.
>>
>>34488784
It would be dangerous because it could be seen by others as a grab for Imperial power - and Hinata-hakase might not be able to control the Grass-Cutting Blade or Kushinada if that was noticed, promise or not. Certainly Oba-san would react immediately, though it's hard to say which way she might jump.
>>
>>34488796
>that's the duty and prerogative of demigods.
But Ryukusa isn't just a mere dragonette, and would certainly become a demi-god when she accept's Horobi's power for herself.
>>
>>34488860
I think that was the point, anon
>>
>>34488860
That was the point.
>>
>>34488860
Except that the point at which she becomes a demigod, without assistance that may not be possible to get, she automatically causes the disaster that Amaterasu says is necessary which defeats the plan.

Ryujin might be able to help, but there is a lot of resistance to the possibility, none of it Ryukusa's own except due to her own demigod nature at this point.

Still, anon can surprise me still.
>>
>>34488978
Just because there is a disaster, doesn't mean it has to happen in such a way that things wont recover quicker. An earthquake which demolishes a city, but claims no lives it doesn't need to, and allows those within it to move on to better things (highly unlikely, but when dealing with Gods...) is far better then one that will kill some who don't need to die
>>
>>34489120
All the more reason to see Ryujin then.

Bear in mind, even Amaterasu said he might not be able to help Ryukusa control what happens. When and how it happens might not be entirely up to her at all, and that is most definitely a part of what you propose, regardless of the magnitude or type of disaster itself.

Of course, you could always let Taisho Ryoga have the war he seems to be pushing for....
>>
>>34489236
>Wanting the bad end
What, XS, you just want the players to give up making it up as we go along?
>>
>>34489236

What if, the disaster that will occur when we accept Horobi's power is what we accept the power for? Ryoga starts his war and taking Horobi's mantle, we bring a Tsunami down upon it, thusly quenching the fires of war as they ignite...
>>
>>34489432
You could.

But he needs Kiki-hime for that, or someone does.
