You tap your foot expenctantly on the floor of the panzer as your eyes remain locked on the small hill between your position and the river. Maginot's tanks were somewhere over there, hidden behind the thick treeline. Pulling your head back, you wipe the sweat out of your eyes- the pleasent seventy-degree weather had turned your Semovante 105/25 into a steel oven and your position on the leeward side of the hill had meant that there was hardly any breeze to keep the innards of the tank cool. You are Hina Hayami, Commander of the Italian M105/25 Self Propelled Gun "Legio IX" and as you open a your canteen in a desperate attempt to put more water into your body than you're draining from sweat, lean lean back, fighting the urge to dump the remains of the canteen into your hair to cool down. What's left has to last you until the end of the match and then long enough to drive the Semovante back to the staging area. You sigh and flop back forward to put your eyes to the periscope. "Any word from Duce about the enemy position?" You ask your radiowoman/loader, sitting behind you at the loader's station."Nothing." You really wish that the little tankettes had radios instead of having to run back meet with a radio-equipped tank to make reports.>Keep waiting- ambushes are fun!>Move forward and go hunting- we can't wait all day!>Other.

>>34471028>>34470806two parts herePart 1.>tactical/strategic observations based on described Anzio strategy.Four words: DON’T. SPLIT. THE. PARTY. To elaborate, the tankette strategy revolves around close-range attacks on the enemy tracks and road wheels to maim the enemy in order to allow heavier units to finish the job. This can be countered by having the entire force close enough that their ability to weave in and out of friendlies is limited and any injured unit can be covered by the rest of the detachment while repairs are made.In reaction to tankette crews righting the vehicles after an indirect hit, all crews are to first fire rounds HE at a target to immobilize, then they are to fire standard AP rounds into the vehicle, even if it looks disabled, unless they see the white flag deployed. >TL; DR: Double Tap, confirm kill.Equipment purchases: Track and road wheel covers for any applicable unitsSpare track and road wheel partsMachine guns and MG Armor-piercer roundswhy machine guns and 7.92mm tungsten-core AP rounds you ask? see next post.

The StuG III may have difficulty engaging due to the lack of a turret. I would recommend equipping flexible loader and/or cupola mounted machineguns. No idea how the B1 bis will fare. The Pershing commander (i.e. us) will most likely be un-buttoned using the M2, since it’s the only weapon that has a (somewhat) reliable chance to KO the given enemy, so plentiful ammunition should be packed. >ok, how crazy/unworkable/dumb am I getting here? >>34471619Wat. Just, Wat. Miho saves Erika's life and she repays it with... well, you know... there better be a VERY detailed explanation for those circumstances, my friend.
>>34471380>>34471339So then we can safely assume that we only have the tanks that Anzio has during its regular matches, and that our current line-up is the same one used in the match versus Oorai?Because if so, and if we are fighting Maginot, this fight'll be interesting, since I don't think our LV-33's are going to put a dent in French armor, especially if it's a S35 or B1.Coincidentally, is there a link to an archive for threads with this character? >>34471919>>34471929The issue seems to be that you think that as a person Erika is a heartless bitch, and nothing but, while I'm thinking, What's the author's explanation/reasoning/decision making process for having both A. >>34471863Ah, now I understand.Shouldn't there be a 75/34, or some other SPG with us? Hell, even a 75/18 would be welcome at this point. I may be a coward, but being out on our lonesome seems like a bad plan, even for an ambusher.

"Ugh..." Your driver groans. "Can we please just go after them?! Anything to get a breeze moving through this thing..." its tempting- oh so very tempting. Especially the part about the breeze- you can imagine what the soldiers who'd originally used these tanks had been through driving them through the Sahara.Well, at least they'd been going forward. You shake your head. "Negative- If they keep following the road across the bridge they'll be moving directly through our field of fire a few tanks at a time..." So you'll wait, and slowly dessicate in the heat. "Can't afford to be caught out of position when it happens."You're about to radio Anchovy and confirm that Pepperoni hadn't messed up and gotten her unit wiped out by sticking around to duel 20mm anti-tank guns against 47mm cannons when you see a tree along the ridge quake suddenly as if something very heavy had nudged it. "Hold it! Incoming 11'o'clock!" You turn to your loader. "Load HE!">Fire now! Saturate the area!>Wait until the break cover.>Wait until they're almost on us- assure the kill.>Other.

>>34472370>Wait until break cover.Ambushin' games
>>34472444after reading, the whole thing still lacks the critical 'why' explanation. We get to see Maho acting behind the scenes for Miho's benefit while acting ruthless, *In Little Army*, but there is nothing showing something similar for Erika. Its a heelturn that just comes out of nowhere. More Rabu Rabu's slow warming of Erika and Miho makes FAR more sense, frankly.
>>34472679I've always felt that Erika's a bitch because she worships Shiho and wants to be like her, but doesn't really understand why she acts the way she does and overexaggerates it because she's still a teenager.
>>34472771same here. Say, have you read AnchovyWriter's Erika piece?
Just a thought. Anchovy is pretty smart. Wouldn't she write the plans on paper, make copies, and post them inside the tankets so Pepperoni wouldn't forget? Since this is an escalation in enemy competence and all.>Wait until they break cover.
>>34472771My head-canon is that Miho and Maho's Dad died and she died a little inside as a result. Shiho to got back into panzerfahen soon after. I haven't read any of the manga adaptations so I'm probably wrong.
>>34472815Knowing Pepperoni, she might actually just doodle on the paper or make it into a paper plane and toss it into the wind during downtime.Anzio girls aren't the most motivated bunch, tankery-wise.
>>34472884But at least they know how to party.
>>34472815sounds like something a people-wangler like Anchovy would do. Final Decision rests with BJ, of course.>>34472852For Shiho, makes sense, the classing 'bury yourself in work' method of dealing with grief. In this case, work is being the head of the premier tanking family for all of Japan.

"Wait for it..." You say calmly over the radio- you scan the foliage intently, looking for hard lines or shadows; anything that shows something that isn't a tree or a bush. "Wait for visual contact..." You repeat, calmly moving the gunsight back and forth over the forest. With a final grunt, the massive 105mm howitzer is loaded. "Up!" She calls. The nice thing about being the gunner and commander in a tank like this is that there isn't quite as much complication in the firing process- just "Up!" and "Firing!"You watch and watch and then, finally, a shape crashes through the bushes, nearly pushing over a tree as it passes. Identify: Chars B2. "Target! Wait for it..." You say, watching the tank pushes out into the clearing, turret moving back and force like the head of a bird. A few seconds later a second target appears- A Somua S35 medium tank followed by a second Somua. "Got the B2- Tell Zero-Eight to take the first Somua, Zero-Seven to take the second." You relay to your gunner radio operator. You move the crosshairs over the B2- "Firing." You pull the trigger and the big howitzer erupts in a great white cloud of flame and smoke. It takes a moment before it clears- in that time you hear the 75/18s guns cracking. As you stare through the smoke you see the Chars- it had taken the round in its rear half and the explosion of the 105mm shell had been powerful enough to lift the French heavy tank and shift its rear half about three meters right.>Damage assessment.>Reload and move out immediately.>Other.

>>34474418ok, something more... modern.
>>34474466yep. dem's da rules.
"Reload- HE!" You call. "Driver forward- move out on them!" The small convoy of French tanks had crossed the clearing diagonally to you- your 105mm round hadn't knocked out the B2, but it had blown off the track and rear drive wheel, immobilizing it.Meanwhile, the first Somua had been hit dead center and put out of commission- a small white flag flying from its turret- the second Somua had only taken a glancing blow and was moving to put the better-armored B2 between itself and your ambush. The tactic is a bit of a gray area- technically you're not allowed to use disabled tanks for cover, since the rules prohibit firing at a disabled tank, but the B2 is still in the game, just immobilized. The Somua could hide back there and let the B2 absorb a disabling blow, which would be enough time for its 47mm gun to take two or three shots, then move away from it as soon as the tank is out. You'll let the judges figure whether its a violation after the match- for now you've got two active tanks in front of you.>Knock out the B2 first- bigger target.>Take out the Somua before it makes cover.>Other.

>>34475122>Knock out the B2 first- bigger target.Finish up, let our compatriots deal with their targets. Threaten them with English cooking if they need motivation.
It's only a rule violation if the B2 already popped a white flag, and we still keep shooting at it.On the other hand, if we do KO the B2, we'll still have to contend with trying to shoot the Somua that'll take cover behind the tank hulk. Which would only put the possibility of us getting a rule violation in Maginot's favor.
>>34475255Hmm. Make sense.>>34475122>Take out the Somua before it makes cover.
You slew the gun to the right, but the moving Somua is just out of your traverse. "Bring us right!" You order, holding the gunner's sight to your head as the self-propelled gun turns. "Got it! Stop!" You call- your attention is focused on the little moving French medium tank but your driver knows what she's doing."Up!" The loader calls- While the three-girl crew is great for giving you as the commander a faster reaction time for the gun, the fact that you can either talk to your other tanks or load the gun is a liablity- the other two tanks know their role, but they're firing at the wrong target. They're firing at the B2, but its heavy armor shrugs off their rounds easily.Meanwhile the Somua is racing to get in position- But not if you have anything to say about it! "Firing!" You say, as you pull the trigger. The heavy 105mm howitzer is overkill for the French medium- in all likelihood the smartshell pre-detonated to make sure the little thing wasn't obliterated or its crew injured by the concussion on the hull.Either way- it's down now.>Radio Anchovy- see where the rest of their tanks are.>Finish the B2 yourself.>Other.

"One more HE!" You call, setting your loader into action. "Driver, left-pivot!" You call, slewing the 105mm gun to sweep across the B2's hull. You aim for the mid-section just behind the crew compartment- you still aren't sure just how much punch the HE rounds deliver, so its best if you avoid aiming for parts of the armor with girls behind them."Round up!" The loader yells before ducking back to the side of the gun and pulling the safety."Firing!" You warn, letting loose your third 105mm shell. The big gun is aimed straight at the B2 and the round flies true, impacting halfway down the B2's hull- the explosion again throwing the B2 off its tracks and onto its sides- a small white flag tops up from the hull. "Got 'em!" You say, leaning back from the scope. You don't have much time to rest though- "Hina! Urgent call from Anchovy!" She says, turned back towards the radioset. "Head to position F-12 ASAP! Flag and the tankettes are under attack!"
