“Ambrosis.” Lilac interrupts you. “Calm down. Sym. Just... Pack as much stuff as you can.”

The elf mumbles something to herself before traveling past you and up the staircase.

“Ambrosis...” Lilac continues, “Can you please help her for a while?”

“Why would I want to help someone like her?” You respond.

“Well, it will help me pack up all my supplies faster and...” She looks down to the bedsheets still covering her almost completely. “You know how there isn't any underwear in the game?”

“Yeah, I'm just glad my robes are so comfy without the armor on. Glad I'm not a guardian. I'd probably start chafing and-” It suddenly dawns on you. You look down at the dwarf and the pale, uncovered arm sticking out of the bundle of cloth. “I'm going to go help Fake-name now. I'll be back in a couple minutes.” You turn and rush up the stairs with loud footfalls.

The upstairs looks to be an attic filled with chests. Symbology riffles through one of the chests. She gasps excitedly and pulls out a brightly colored horn that looks to be some kind of clown contraption. “Rouge, remember the party horn-” She notices who came up the stairs. “Oh, it's you.”

“What's that supposed to mean?” You ask.

“Oh, nothing, I thought I was just going to take a walk down memory lane before I had to pack up an entire shop's worth of chests, but I guess I was wrong.” She hefts up a chest and heads for the stairs, but you block her path. “Move.” She commands.

“Ah. Well, about that.” You try think of something. “Lilac is... ummm...”

“Getting dressed?” She responds.

“Yes.”

“Pffft.” She replies, “I've already danced naked with her on a table... Well... “naked” in the game sense.” She makes hand quotations around naked. Then she shouts down the stairs, “Hey, Rouge, remember the party horn?”

Lilac shouts back up, “Please never mention the party horn again!”

“This coming from the person who still has it?!”

“I just haven't found someone who wants to buy it yet!”

“Excuses excuses!” The elf says pushing past you.

You wait at the top of the stairs, somewhat awkwardly until Symbology returns.

“Are you going to actually help or are you just going to stand there?” The elf asks.

“Nah. I think I'd just like to see you do everything while I relax.”

She scoffs. “Whatever.” She picks up another chest and brings it down stairs. “At least do something useful.”

You think for a moment and open up your friend list. You hit the call button on Edifice.

“Are we ready to get going?” The voice on the other end asks.

“Not yet.” You respond, “I need you to head to my location and...”

You look at your current party. Canis isn't in range to see any of his stats, but you still don't want to kick him out. Trove is the next name down and he's pretty chill, so he wouldn't mind.

You kick Trove from the party and invite Edifice.

“Okay.” You conitnue, “I need you to get to my location and park in front of a shop. We've pretty much got a bunch of supplies to pick up.”

“I'm on my way.” He responds. “Call me if you see anything suspicious. Like JIF sleeper cells.” CLICK.

You just stand there, stunned. Did that just happen?

You pick up a chest and Good Lord is it heavy. The hell is in this thing, rocks!?

You travel down the stairs and lug the chest to the front area. Lilac is sitting on one of the chests already there. “The Manifest Destiny is on its way.” You inform her. “So you might want to start taking chests down.”

“I can't.” She responds, “I don't have the strength to lift any of them.”

You mumble a bit angrily to yourself and turn to go get more boxes.

After quite a while all the chests, boxes, and shelves of items are stored in the bottom of the ship. Edifice stands proudly on the deck, commenting that he destroyed no buildings completely getting here. Fearing what that might mean, you order him to leave the city at once.

When you exit the city you hear the familiar RING of the call system and answer a call from your brother.

“Hello?” You ask.

“Am I safe in assuming you're in the giant metal thing terrorizing the road right now?” Your brother responds.

“Hell yeah.”

Your brother lets out a cry of excitement. “OOOOOOOOHHHHHH SHIT! That thing is like... I don't even have words for how amazing that shit is! Have you seen this shit!? It's like 'Why hello there, my name is Doombringer McFuckYouUp and I'm here to wreck your face with my mere presence.' THAT IS HOW FUCKING AMAZING THAT SHIT IS!”

You look out to the distance to try and spot your brother, but you can't really see anything. “Where are you?”

You look up to see your brother falling out of the sky slamming into the ground next to the MD. He rips himself out of the imprint he left in the ground and shouts, “TWENTY HP MOTHER FUCKERS!”

You cast “Heal!” on your brother before he starts climbing up the ladder. The rest of the crew seems quite interested in what happened. “My brother.” You explain. This seems to just raise more silent questions amongst the crew.

The monk lands on the deck, fists raised into the air, and yells to the heavens, “PIIIIIIIIIZZAAAAAA TIIIIIIIIIIIIIIME~!” He turns to you, taking a knee, and pulls from his bag an entire pizza on a silver platter. He holds out the pizza with both hands, head down as if he were offering you some kind of holy artifact. “It is yours to do with as you wish.”

Realizing you still haven't taken the pizza yet, you take the silver platter into your hands and say, “This is my brother. He's not so bad when you get to know him.”

That seemed to get everyone's attention.

“Uhh...” You try to think of what to say, “Anyone have something to cut this thing?”

You see a plethora of knives appear in Judi's hands. “Yes.” She responds, staring at the pizza.

“No, no no!” Vertigo shouts, “You can't!”

“Why not?” Judi asks.

“Becaaaaaauuuuse....” The monk holds the sound of the word, looking around. He was trying to come up with an excuse, but you're not sure why. “Because I hate you! You know that you did!”

The duelist looks actually hurt by the accusation. “W-what did I do!?”

“Zachery!” You shout at your brother.

“I'm just sayin'!” He responds. Then he give you a very intense look like he's trying to send you some kind of psychic message. “You don't want her cutting the pizza... with those tiny knives.”

You roll your eyes. “Okay, then what do I want to cut the pizza?”

He looks over to Takeshi and points to his giant nodachi. “Look at that sword! That's a pizza cutting sword! I bet uh... Takeshi here could cut a million pizzas with one slice of that sword.”

“We only have one pizza.” You respond.

“Exactly! So it will be a million times faster!”

The assassin grasps his mighty sword. “Toss it into the air.”

You look over to your brother and give him a this-is-your-fault look before tossing the pizza, platter and all, into the air. The blade slides from its sheathe and cuts through the platter as if it were water. A few cuts and the entire thing falls to the deck in a neat pile. You count the pretty thin slices.

“Takeshi,” You point out, “This is sixteen slices. I asked for ten.”

“If I cut it into ten slices,” Takeshi explains, “Then some of the slices would be uneven.”

“Or!” You says, “You could have not cut through the entire thing with each slice.”

Takeshi tilts his head and admits, “I did not think of that, but you now have more than ten.”

“I wanted ten so everything would be evenly distributed. Now we can't do that anymore.”

“I see...” He responds.

If you only serve 8 people, you'll be able to get everyone two slices, so...

You look towards your brother. You must be angry because he seems to be shrinking back. “You're not getting any slices.” You say. He made Judi feel bad made this happen; he's not getting any pizza. He's already had more than enough food with taste anyways.

You envy them.

It's been so long, you're not even sure if you remember the taste of pizza correctly.

Your brother sits down next to you. “I messed up again.”

“Yup.” You respond.

“I'm sorry. I just...” He sighs, “Forget it. I can't tell you anyways.”

“Okay.”

“But...” He pauses for a couple moment before letting a a cry of frustration. “Forget it.”

“Don't upset anyone in my crew again.”

“Sorry.” He hangs his head.

“I'm not the one you should be apologizing to.”

“I'm apologizing for apologizing to the wrong person!”

You stare at him for a couple moment before looking away. “So, what were you doing up in the sky?”

“Hm? Oh, that? I Wyvern Kicked a bird, so it dragged me to the bird's location. Then I kicked another bird. I just kept doing it till you showed up. No idea how high I got, though. I tried aiming for the ship when I saw it, but I missed.”

“I could tell.”

“Look, man, I'm just... I'm really sorry. I didn't mean for this to happen, I was just trying to... you know, do the... correct thing.”

“And telling my friend you hate her was the correct thing?”

“No! I just... I couldn't... Forget it.”

You look to the group now lamenting the loss of the pizza. What made Takeshi so special? The answer hits you so hard you have no idea why you didn't realize it before.

You look out to the mountainous landscape for a couple seconds before realizing that the pizza party is probably over by now. You stand up and shout, “Alright, everyone, you've got a taste of what's waiting for us in Big Apple! Now's the time to get there! Everyone to their stations! Next stop is Big Apple!”

The group cheers and go off to their respective areas, which is to say, Lilac and Tarot in the engine room, Judicature at the helm, and everyone else off doing whatever they want.

Judi walks over to you, you first assume she is only heading for the stairs to the helm, but she stops in front of you. “Umm...” She responds, “I... I saved a slice for you.”

You're not quite sure how to react, but you take the pizza all the same.

You take a single bite.

It's cheesy and slightly greasy.

The crust is slightly stale and crunches with your bite.

The slice is not warm in the least, but the taste of tomato, cheese, and bread all together fills you with with such pleasure. You had not realized how hungry you have been until just now. You take another bite, and another. You let each bit sit in your mouth till it is devoid of flavor. Such amazing flavor.

“Zachery!” You shout, “No one wants to hear about that!”

“Okay!” He responds, hands in the air like he's under arrest, “I'm just sayin'!” And just like that he wanders off to other parts of the ship.

“Sorry about that.” You say, “He's... He's many things. Very few of those things are good, though.”

“It's okay.” She responds. “Did... Did you like the pizza?”

“Yeah.” You say with a nod. “Thanks again for giving it to me.”

“No problem.” She says, “Umm...”

“Yeah?”

“I...” She pauses, “I should probably get to work.” With that she heads up the stairs to the helm.

In time the metal behemoth begins to move down the highway, towards adventure. Or doom. Or nothing. You're not quite sure.

Judi works better imo since focusing on Lilac's problems means we end up ignoring other stuff lately while "fixing" Judi's problems actually lets us interact with others more. Symbology showing up probably might fix problem that a little.

Not that guy but If i had to guess I'd go by the fact that the dwarf girl in the anime looked NOTHING like a dwarf. When i realized she was supposed to be one I'm brain had some sort of autism short circuit trying to figure out how the hell such a thing could be considered a dwarf even under the biggest stretch of definitions. I don't think the dwarf was even that short.

My biggest issue with Lilac is that she's a compulsive liar. Several of her old acquaintances and friends have mentioned this, so it's been an issue for a long, long time.

You go down the stairs to the middle deck, past your brother and the fake-name. From passing by you could tell Vertigo was talking about how his guild name is from the opening poem of The Canterbury Tales and that he was trying to and look smart.
You head down another floor to the engine room and spot Edifice going through Lilac's chests and boxes. Carnegie sits on a nearby crate observing his friend.

“There aren't any ninjas in there.” Carnegie says. “You're just wasting your time.

“That's what the ninjas want you to think.” Edifice retorts, “We know their plans, and that's our edge, but if they know we know, then we'll lose that edge and then who knows where they'll take their laser forts!?”

“You know,” You comment, “This is the kind of thing I'd expect from Takeshi.”

“Takeshi...” The guardian repeats, “What do we know about him? Is he trustworthy?”

Carnegie shakes his head at his friend. “This all started with a joke you know.”

“That doesn't mean it's not true!” The paranoid man responds.

You glance to the Champion before focusing back on the guardian. “Takeshi thinks he's the descendant of some super special samurai from Portugal or something like that. He's just making it up. I'd be surprised if he has any connection to Japan at all.”

“Which is exactly what Takeshi wants us to think, isn't it!?” Edifice shouts. “He's a sleeper cell mastermind!”

You shake your head. “No.” You say. “No. Just... No. … No. Simply, purely, completely no.”

“Exactly. It's the perfect cover. Not even you believe it.”

You look over to Carnegie who only offers a shrug and a “At least he's not talking about 9/11.”

“So...” You ask, “Why are you so concerned about Japan invading us? I mean, South America has a higher chance to invade us that Japan.”

“Pffft.” He responds, “What are they going to do? Go BR BR BR BR BR Gib monies at us? I'd be surprised if it takes more than a party of Americans to take down their entire server. Maybe two parties if we have to default to Canadians.”

“And if they're French Canadians?” You ask out of curiosity.

“If all the French Canadians and all the Brazilians went to war with each other? At that point our biggest concern would be keeping them from respawning.” He points to you, “Seriously, fuck French Canadians.”

Well, it was certainly the reaction you expected. “Alright, well you two ha-”

“AH HA!” Edifice grabs hold of something inside of a chest and pulls it out. “I've found you!” He holds in his hand a short log.

You step over some chests and make your way to the center of the lower deck where you see a large, green lizard with many heads on long necks spewing fire into the boilers.

“I don't know.” You hear Tarot's voice over the flames. “I wouldn't have even done that for my best friend. If I told him not to do it, and he did it anyway, I wouldn't care. You fucked up, I'm not covering for you.”

“I can understand that,” You hear Lilac respond. “But some things are just more important.”

“I still think it's dumb.”

You glance over the body of the hydra and ask, “What are you two talking about?”

Tarot, who is leaning on his summoned creature, says, “Stupid things people do for stupid reasons.”

You glance over to Lilac who is sitting on the floor. You ask, “Is that so?”

“I would have used different words,” Lilac responds, “But in some sense, yes.”

“Mind being a bit more specific?” You reply.

“It's not important.” The sorceress says, “Anything you need from us?”

“Not really. Just doing the captain thing. Making sure everyone's doing well.” You look over to Tarot. “How're the engines holding up? Not too stressful is it?”

“Not at all.” Tarot responds, “With Bessy here there's nothing I need to worry about, except maybe overheating the things. At what point do they explode, by the way?”

You shrug. You have no idea.

“It won't explode.” Lilac answers, “At least, as long as the engine is moving something. If you stop the ship or jam the wheels: that's the only time you should be concerned.”

“So it'll never happen.” You say, “Because the Manifest Destiny is unstoppable!”

“You just made that up.” You say.

“So?” She responds.

You hold back a chuckle and instead climb over the hydra. Said hydra's fifth head did not seem to appreciate that, but did nothing about it.

“So, where'd you find this thing?” You ask, “Never seen a hydra before.”

“It was an endgame quest back in vanilla.” Tarot explains, “It took you weeks to get everything done for the quest. Even longer if you didn't figure out the puzzles instantly. Took me a month to figure it all out.”

“After you got all the ingredients you had to fight the hydra itself.” Lilac added, “And if you failed you had to start all over.”

“I got Bessy on my first try.” He says proudly. “And this was before there were guides for everything on the internet.”

“Nice.” Is all you can think to say. “Well, if you guys need anything be sure to call me.”

“See ya.” Tarot says.

“Bye.” Lilac says.

You head back for the deck. You pass by your brother who was gloating, “I'm sitting there with a hundred health left and I hit it with one last kick and BAM! Thing goes down.”

You know exactly what he's talking about because he never stops telling this story. He got his entire party killed on the last boss of some raid and he was the only one left standing and he killed the thing before he wiped. It's far less impressive when you realize that, as the tank, he should have been the first to die.

You get up on the deck and look out. You have cleared the mountain range and see before you orange sand and brown plants.

Back in the desert.

Not that you are complaining.

You remembered Lilac telling you about this before...

You could probably cut through the Frontier, which is a higher level than you are, but will be the fastest path. Although, this thing trying to get through that forest she mentioned before might slow you down a little bit. If you do make it, though, it will be a straight shot to Great Lakes, and then to Big Apple.

You could also avoid the Frontier by going down to Pueblo, then to Cajun, then up to Dixie, off to Brotherhood, and finally reach Big Apple.
