You are Shax Gloombreaker, chief of the united goblin tribes, and maker of a big old stinking mess of the overworld! Having dealt with the demonic invasion force and not even thought about the consequences afterwards, you've turned your attention back to the forested lands of Valenwood. A forest that appears to be rotting. Rather quickly, to boot. You haven't been gone from here that long! What's goin' on? Is it cause you broke their dumb orbs? They shouldn't matter that much, right?

You Have:

Squid Face walks over to you. "Hey, uh, my undead horde is probably gonna bring some unwanted attention down on us. I know a baelnorn in the area who would love to see me dead, so we might want to deal with her first, if we can?"

"Let's find my brother! He can probably help us out," Allonces says, leaning on a spear, "I don't know why this forest is dying, but we should find that last orb quickly. One those three gods are back at full strength, they can probably start fixing whatever problem is up with this place."

Both those are good plans. Milda, however, suggests something different. "Look. We're splintered from the underworld army, yeah? You've taken out one of their main forces, and I think we can probably get more under your sway. Let's find the army in these woods, and me and my brothers will try to get the duergars to switch sides. With no more kobolds, duergars, or goblins, the dark elves are practically alone. Well, them and some orcs."

Brokagh rolls his eyes. "I'd offer to chat the boys up, but they don't like me a ton."

>Go with Squid Face's plan.
>Elves!
>Get them dwarves, bro.

And then we can go fix the forest.

"Alright. We're gonna track down the main army. Takin' out their main fightin' forces is something we gotta do eventually, right?" You aren't asking a hypothetical question. You are genuinely asking if that is something to do. Your associates look at you for a moment before realizing this.

Sitri scratches the back of her head, "Uh, yeah. I mean. Probably?"

"Okay!" You pump your fist and give a grin, "Then let's go do it!" You get the captains to order their units to foreward march and whatever, having scouts look out for dark elves. Turns out dark elf scouts are way better than goblin scouts, and it takes forever for you to locate the main army. They're quite a ways away. It is pretty annoying, to be honest. They haven't made any progress at all! Who the heck is running this army?!

It isn't long before the scouts report something strange. Well, strange enough to get filtered through the generals and make it to your attention. There is apparently a strange tower that has been uncovered from the forest's decay. A large pillar of obsidian, with strange runes carved into it. All the scouts who have approached it have said that they get a splitting headache just looking at the thing.

You go to check it out. And, sure enough, your head hurts when looking at it.

"Looks like various illusions were woven into this thing. Most of them were bound and anchored to the forest around it," Squid Face is looking at it, fingers in his tentacles. "Definitely a wizard tower. What do you say? Let Ol' Squid Face blast it open, have us some good old fashioned looting? I don't know what I'd do with any of this stuff, though, to be honest."

Sitri sighs. "Surely there is a more subtle way of getting in? Let's not try to set off every magical defense in the place at once, okay?"

>Squid Face is cool! Let him blast it open!
>Blowing open the door might damage some of the loot. "And also research," Milda grumbles. So let's get in a quieter way!

>>
>>34393887
I think that's OWQ is just one of those quests where you don't feel to strong of a desire to vote since you know no matter what the dice or what kind of tangents the story takes it's gonna be alright.

As much as the atmosphere of other quests - where anons fight over votes because they don't want the other party to fuck things up - is really annoying, it at least guarantees a lot of activity.
>>
>>34394018
I don't think I've voted since this whole part of the story started. The war/battle stuff doesn't interest me much.

I'm sorry to hear that! Shax has basically won, though, so it isn't really going to continue. Even this part is mostly recruiting from a defeated foe fighting a crippled foe.

You'd approach the tower, but when you get close enough your head just splits wide open. "Hey, Shax, do you have that chalice of true vision or whatever?" Oh, right! You pull it out of the pack and go to drink from it, when Sitri puts a hand on your arm. "Wooaah there, let's get someone who knows how to sneak into a building to drink from that, alright?"

"Hey! I'm plenty sneaky! I'm a goblin, remember?" You do have natural bonuses to sneaking. Duh.

Sitri taps your sword, "When was the last time you really snuck around with that thing on your back?" Fair point. Gneb volunteers for the job, and you let him drink from the chalice.

"I mostly just wanted to get rid of this headache," he grumbles, approaching the tower. Before too long, he announces he's found a way in. With his guidance, he leads a large party inside, while everyone else guards the entrance. You've got maybe twenty or thirty boys in here.

Squid Face plants his hands on his hips and looks straight up. "This is a wizard tower if I've ever seen one," He points at various bookcases. "Most of that looks like research journals. It's probably all in custom short hand, or about something ridiculous like breeding bears with falcons or something." You hear a screech. An owlbear comes barrelling out of the closet. "Or owls." It manages to actually wound a few goblins before they put it down.

Sitri runs a finger over her chin thoughtfully, "That thing was actually pretty strong. What gives?"

Squid Face takes several of the books, "Maybe I'll be borrowing these, after all."

>New Squid Face tree unlocked! B'Wana Beast! He now has the powers of a niche comic book character!

"More importantly," Milda adds, "If that thing is alive, someone was feeding it. We're not alone in here. I suggest we find the owner of this tower quickly."

You settle your sword on your shoulder. This was going to have to be dealt with by a professional: You. You'll greet the heck out of this guy. No one is gonna see this greeting storm go down, it'll be so sudden. Guy won't even understand the level of greeting he is gonna get. You start stomping up the stair case. Your boys sorta look at each other and shrug, going about looting and checking the place out. Milda pulls Sitri and Brokagh off to the side and whispers something to them, they nod and follow you for a bit, but you lose track of them after a while.

The tower gets pretty noisy as your boys encounter and get vaporized by traps, run into various experiments, or otherwise get themselves killed. A steady stream of inexperienced goblins pour in, rummaging the place as your continue your ascent. When you get to the top of the tower, you fling the door open, yelling, "Hi! I'm Shax!"

"Yes, yes, can you please ask your goblins to leave my tower, they're really making a mess of things." A wizard greets you with an incredibly upset look on his face. He has kind of a depressing blue hat, limp on one side. He doesn't really look mysterious or imposing at all. "No, you know what? I'll just get you all out of here myself." He flicks a hand up, and it is quickly broken by Brokagh reaching from behind you, gripping it, and grinding the bones to dust. "Aw, shit what the hell" Before you can react, Sitri comes dashing in from the other side, skewering him with her sword. The wizard shakes for a bit, then falls into a pile of dust.

"Damn, a simulacrum," Sitri glances around a bit before a bolt of lightning lances through her. You're not sure where it came from! You look around the room as the satyxis attempts to get back up off the floor. It looks like she's actually hurting quite a bit!

>Try to figure out where he is hiding! Quick, quick~

Man, nobody shoots Sitri like that without your permission! She was just being helpful! Besides, she didn't even stab him until he moved to threaten you. That's just being a good body guard. So what he did was really rude, right? Unforgiveably rude! So you start looking around the room. It's empty. Completely empty.

Brokagh edges in, fists up and at the read. "Some cowardly wizardly crap, if I had to guess, boss. Probably hiding himself with some sorta lame illusion." Oh, you already drank from the chalice. There is a groan from Sitri on the ground as Brokagh inches past her. "She'll probably make it, but only if we move quick, yeah? Where are you hiding, coward?!" The last part was a roar, Brokagh's eyes scanning the room as he shouted.

You started walking along the edge of the wall, circling the room and waving your sword about fast enough that you'd notice if it hit something. You see Blaise poke her head into the room, "Hey, Shax what is-" She cuts off as she looks down at Sitri on the ground, "Holy moly, what got her?" Ducking, she looks around as well.

Brokagh sniffs loudly, "Hah! Got you, you foul smelling son of a bitch!" He delivers a savage snap kick that connects with something, a wizard being blown out of his invisibility spell. "Oh wow that actually worked I was just making a wild guess sorry I didn't know it'd work" Brokagh is explaining things to you like he did something wrong for some reason.

Still, there isn't much time to breath, as the wizard quickly captures you in a binding purple barrier, restricting your movements. "You look like the dangerous one, all things considered." He blasts Brokagh back with a cone of fire, and several animals burst into creation between him and Blaise, though she quickly dispatches one. "No offense to the other two." He's chanting something big!

You manage to grab your belt, breaking from the hold and teleporting behind the wizard. You raise your sword to bring it down in a coup de grace, when several ray zaps you in the chest. You go stiff, sword falling out of your hands, and your legs go weak.

"Whoops, didn't even remember I had that contingency up," The wizard says, standing upwards. Blaise is still tied up with the summoned animals, and the wizard casually releases another spray of energt at Brokagh, causing him to reel and clutch at his head. "Pretty glad I did, though." He gets his staff ready, chanting up another incantation when Brokagh releases a snarl and tackles him, bearing him to the ground and delivering one or two good punches before he gets blasted away.

Paralyzed on the ground, you are staring at Blaise as she fights through a few more demonic looking creatures. It looks like she's doing alright, but she clearly doesn't think so. She spends a few pearls to blast through them and runs over to Sitri, checking on her. "She's still alive!" She looks up at you and the grimace you're frozen in, "Oh, no!" Gripping her axe in hand, she glares at the wizard and runs straight for him, before getting trapped in the shimmering purple field you were held in moments before.

"Calm down there, little lady." He shoots Brokagh several more times with spells before you feel the strength return to your body. "That oughta do it for the orc. Now, who do we have left?" The shimmering field fades from around Blaise at the same time you get to your feet. She tosses an ice spear at the wizard that seems to evaporate as it gets near him, and stones begin to cover his skin when she dashes to him, her axe sliding off him easily as a shimmering field lands on top of the wizard's stone as well.

Thank you. I love this picture. Alright, guess I'm writing! I guess joke options didn't bring out much participation ;_;
>>
>>34397304
liked them so its okay. You are doing mom's rod thing rightt?
>>
>>34397304
Meh, I just wanna see this guy get fucked up good, since he is apparently more powerful than a damn demon lord.
>>
>>34397351

Yep!

>>34397374

He's the only guy who has been using spells otu of the box. Seriously, Shax is not good vs. speed or spells. I just keep making her fight what she is perfect against for some reason.

Oh, right. That reason is that it is more fun.
>>
>>34397304
dragons. demon armies, demiliches, and demigods hold nothing on us but a random arcane caster can fuck us up and our party by himself. Caster are always OP.
>>
>>34397304
Also, I think alot of colleges start up this week. Mine did at least.
>>
>>34397398
We now need to figure out an antimagic aura and a speedboster.
>>
>>34397404

I also like Caster Edition jokes. I'm sorry

I'll stop posting on /tg/ now

>>34397436

You've got haste stuff, but it doesn't last long.

Yeah, I'd be posting but I'm working on a lot of stuff right now. Still reading along though.

You reach for the sword behind your belt with a shaky arm. You still dont' feel really strong, but at least you can move. At the last second, you change your mind. You still have that rod, right? You didn't give it up in Manderlay... Alright. Time to use it! You point it at the mage, imprisoning him in an orb of water. You don't bother letting him breath. Shuffling over to your sword, you pick it up, shaking off the effects of the rays. Dragging the blade over to him, you lift it over your head, bringing down in a savage blow that cuts right through his magical armor and stone-like skin.

>You've defeated caster edition!
>You've earned several paragraphs on what spells could have easily beaten your party had the mage prepared them, and a few people pointing out he didn't even shapechange or gate.

>Most importantly, you learned a valuable lesson at how unfun fighting wizards is.

Oh! That reminds you. Didn't someone tell you to always kill the faster first? What was his name... Beyto, right?! Didn't he go to the Valenwood army around here? Maybe you should try to look him up! Silly guy is probably in over his head.

Brokagh is dead, and you go to reincarnate him, but Whoop has leveled up enough to cast resurrection, so you just do that instead. Bearbreath looks a bit disappointed, and Milda assigns Whoop his own contingent of bodyguards. It is twice the size of your coeterie. You feel jealous, but Milda says that you're so strong that you don't need that many, which makes you feel somewhat better.

There is plenty of loot in the tower, though the main benefit is the man's research. It is a massive collection (that you add to your own personal library) of tomes on animal manipulation, modification, and magical creature creation. Interesting! You wonder what all you can do with it.

Whats the plan now, boss?

Let's go see Allonces' stupid brother.

Can that fairy chick do anything to help us or is she basically a fancy ornament?
>>
>>34398033

focus on finding Allonces' brother, hopefully he can give us some answers/side quests before we grab the duergars
>>
>>34398033
ask the ents why the forest is dying and have someone translate what they say.

Kind of a mix there. So, talk to trees, then see if you can find Allonces' brother, then hit up the duergars?

Okay. Writing!
>>
Not really wanting to deal with their nonsense when it comes to communicating with the treefolk, you have Bearbreath go ask them what is goin' down with the forest. It's seriously starting to bother you. It couldn't have gone that wrong from what you did, right? That'd be silly! The gnoll looks like he doesn't have time to deal with them either when you ask, but shuffles off to talk to the treeguys all the same.

You kick your feet on a chair while waiting, listening to the boys divvy up the loot, wondering what everyone is up to. A huge part of the day passes by the time Bearbreath gets back.

"So?" You ask the weathered gnoll, "What is up with the place, then?" He lets out a big sigh.

Pulling out a pipe, he stuffs it with some sorta plant. "Alright, so. You know how the Gnolls have a crazy guy who wants to become a god? And he is basically forcing elemental imbalance in the area from sheer force of will?"

You remember a gnoll with a crazy eye, "Nope."

Letting out a puff, Bearbreath looks at you for a moment. "Right. Well. Let's just say there is an Elf with the same thing in mind. At least, that is what the trees think. There is a serious imbalance in the area of an elemental nature. You? You've got a throne to keep that imbalance in check, it isn't gonna spill over in the area and start messing things up. But Bale Eye and this fellow don't have anything like that to help shunt off their domains when they start getting primed for ascension." He puffs out some more smoke. "At least, I am pretty sure Bale Eye doesn't. I heard he had an idea where a fire throne was, though."

That's pretty relevant information there, Bearbreath! You go find Allonces. She is engorging herself on cakes with a troll, "What the heck do you want, Shax? I'm enjoying my company with Alfonse." She points at the troll, who is wearing some sort of small hat, and is holding a tiny tea cup in one massive, clawed hand. It stares impassively at you.
>>
"Uhm, can you ask one of your elf friends some questions? I want to find out who is making the forest die, and the tree dudes think it is an elf."

Allonces waves dismissively, "No way. The forest is our life, Shax. We'd never willingly kill it."

"What if it was some sorta jerk elf that doesnt' care about your traditional dumb elven values," You cross your arms. Forests are pretty weird and stupid, after all. You get lost in them, like, all the time. You're only concerned about this one because someone is ascending over here, and you gotta make sure he doesn't get too strong to deal with.

"Well, there was some sort of dumb cult. I don't think it matters, though. We've got enough power in our current elven deities that no one would look at them oh wait you smashed our orbs" Allonces rubs her forehead, "Okay, maybe you did affect this. The elven pantheon is a very delicate balance of evil and good forces as befitting an ancient race as us. It has a lot of historical intricacies that-" Wow who even cares.

You go drink some tea with Alfonse. It isn't that bad. Tastes kinda bitter, but you've had more bitter stuff. Like those berries you weren't supposed to eat and made you throw up for several days. Well, tried to. You didnt' have enough food in your stomach to throw up, since you were practically starving when you ate those berries in the first place. This place is kinda gloomy isn't it? Maybe you should take a quick break next time. Go somewhere nice, and relax. It has been a while since you've really kicked back, hasn't it? Yeah! You deserve a break!

"And that is where the Cult of Wormwood comes in," Allonces says triumphantly! Oh, she might be getting to the point, now. "It would probably be gaining popularity. Especially if the guy I'm thinking of is helping lead one of the companies in charge of homeland defense." She sips at her tea and looks at you expectantly.

Uh. What's your response?

Beach wins, surprising NO ONE

Alright! That's it for tonight! I'll answer things on ask.fm and announce on twitter as usual. No idea on day, but this weekend for sure. Six more threads, friends.

I hope you all liked it! I had fun writing it. Just hoping I can keep it up for the last little bit. It's pretty hard work improving everything, but that is what makes it worth it! I just wanna thank you guys with sticking to it. We're gettin' real close now, so please! Enjoy the ride all the way till the end!

>>34399374
So if we smash the last orb AND kill the evil elf deities, does that mean Sea Mom is getting a HUGE amount of turf?
