Previously, on Avatar Quest......

You, Felna, and Galda left the city and returned home, finding the settlement much different than how you left it. You briefly spoke to Bulo and launched him in a lake, then went to speak with your father while the girls went to speak with their mother. You spoke with your dad and told him you knew what he did. He gave a quick apology, and you accepted his apology while also kneeing him in the crotch. You asked where your mother and Sonyo were, and left once he told you. Both were thrilled to see you, but when you told your mother all that occurred in the city, she became furious that your father sold you out to the Queen. She demanded that you and Sonyo leave the building while she "discussed" things with your father. Of course, you disobeyed her and attempted to stop a fight from breaking out. You managed to do so, but greatly angered your father in the process. You left the settlement and came across Felna, who was practicing her Firebending while Bulo and Galda watched. Soon, the shark turtle arrived, happy to see you. However, soon, your father's soldiers arrived as well, telling you that your father ordered your arrest for treason.
>>
>Welcome to Avatar Quest. Here are the rules.

Decisions are made by vote. Each vote has a ten minute interval, after which, the option that receives the most votes it the one that is chosen.

There are no write-ins unless explicitly stated

Some options require rolls. In that event, rolls will be out of 100. Whether rolls succeed or fail is decided by the first three rolls. If one passes, then you succeed regardless of the other two. Rolls will really only occur during training, or when trying something new.
All decisions are final. If you regret voting for something, too bad. Think carefully before you make decisions.

Try to keep waifu bullshit to a minimum.

When confronted by the great beast, there is only thing you can possibly do. You boldly charge at the great monster, unarmed, and hug one of its massive legs.

It's massive head comes down, and it nuzzles you, licking your cheek. The Shark Turtle suddenly raises its head and roars towards the settlement.

Turning around, you see a pair of archers standing on the wall, and eight soldiers moving to surround you, Bulo, Galda, and Felna.

One soldier walks in front of the others, standing in front of you.

"Avatar Shin, by order of Governor Greto, you are under arrest for treason," he tells you. "We will now take you into custody. Please be advised that we have been authorized to use deadly force."

To emphasize this, the soldiers draw their weapons, and the archers knock their arrows, pulling them back and preparing to fire.

"Please, come quietly," the soldier says.

Galda instinctively draws her daggers and gets into a fighting stance. Felna clenches her hands into fists and takes a deep breath. Bulo walks over to you and gets into a bending stance.

"Well bro," he says, "what should we do?"

"I am not resisting arrest," you announce before looking at your brother and friends. "The rest of you, put down your arms and surrender."

Galda glares in your direction, but does as you instruct, dropping her daggers to the ground and raising her hands. Felna gives you a nervous look, but stands down as well. Bulo leans over.

"I hope you know what you're doing," he tells you before standing down.

The Shark Turtle looks down at you, clearly confused and worried. Felna yells for it to go back to the lake, and after a moment, it does.

The soldiers quickly approach and restrain you, taking you back into the settlement and to a large building within it, empty save for a single jail cell, which the soldiers quickly place you inside.

"Why am I being held here?" you demand.

"As we said, your father ordered us to place you under arrest for treason," one of the soldiers tells you.

"So, what's the punishment for treason these days?" you ask. "Beheading?"

"Your father will decide your punishment himself," the soldier clarifies. "Though, beheading is considered a suitable punishment."

"I was wondering when that would happen," you admit. "After I saved the Queen from mortal danger, I was so grateful that the rebel leader I put out of commission wouldn't have the pleasure of cutting off my head. Our old man is an impulsive shit eating cuntbag, honestly at this point he's an entire liability, if we petition to have him replaced he'd probably kill our family, we should just grab a sword, kill him, then make the Queen put in someone new.

It became one shortly after we left.

Pops came back with a group of people before he sent us off the the Queen, probably with her blessings.

This doesn't seem like Soviet Russia, usually they build houses for people before they move them onto the land.
Bringing in some builders seems like an idea, but considering how close we are to the capital and how fast we got there onfoot, it's not like we have borders to worry about. The death of Ming should also mean there would be less guards due to fractured banditry.
So having this many guards, or even the need to prioritize creating a jail (With obvious non-bender guards that is), rather ridiculous

He's already shown how much of a cunt he is. It doesn't seem that far of a stretch to imagine he was planning on running a gulag from the start.

They would have sent more people at the start, most likely non-benders rather then benders. Royal family wouldn't have come with either, most likely would have been a few combat expert benders.

So in such a case we'd have seen something akin to 25 to 1, maybe 50 to 1 Peasant - Military scenario. Instead we only came as a singular family, then along with Ren's assholes too.

That explanation doesn't make sense either then.

Appeasing a threat to your personal safety is weakness.

Basic self-defense.
The moment someone decides they want more than what they originally bargained for, they can no longer be reasoned with.

You aren't expecting an answer, and you don't get one. Your father remains still, his eyes closed and his fists clenched, though his face is tighter, and he appears to be trembling slightly.

"Why didn't you realize that having your son as the Avatar is a quick and easy way to more power?" you continue. "Why don't you realize that my mother was actually a reasonable speaker and a good one, one that could help you in your position? You've made so many mistakes that even I, the Avatar of mistakes and unworthy political advice, am ashamed!"

You pause for a moment, catching your breath. Your father gives no reaction.

"I say you should stand down," you tell him. "However, knowing your temper, I do not expect you to do so."

Your father smirks as he opens his eyes.

"You know me so well," he says as the building trembles and collapses beneath you.

You don't simply fall to the floor below, as you begin to fall, you see that he has opened a pit beneath the building, save for a single pillar atop which he stands. The pit goes down farther than you can see, and you're going right into it, large, heavy pieces of stone coming down right after you.

Why the fuck was our father so shit in Lee's fight and generally any other combat scenario, and yet now he can suddenly perform feats which are far beyond even us in any situation in only a few seconds? All he's EVER been shown to do is throw rocks, and yet he's suddenly capable of planning while angry?
We haven't even been stubborn or aggressive throughout our entire conversation (Which is exactly what YOU cited as our problem with airbending was in the first place), and yet our DC for airbending is still 99?
Sorry Somnius, but this hasn't made sense in a long while, and our father has shown to be completely utterly mentally stunted, EVEN NOW, you show that he's capable of something other than "Throw rock", and yet in his moments of absolute anger, he manages to plan better than he ever has.
You don't have any way to explain this, there's utterly no way of thinking which can explain this.

You try desperately to Airbend, thrusting your hands away from yourself like you have observed other Airbenders doing, and attempting to create a gust of wind to push you to the edge of the pit. But, unfortunately, you find yourself unable to do so.

And so you fall.

You're not sure how long you fall for, because everything goes black before you even hit the bottom.

You're not sure how much time has passed when you wake up. You are battered, bruised, and you can't see a thing, but you are alive. Everything hurts, though, given the fact that you should have been crushed to death, you can't really complain, but you can wonder what happened.

And, you can wonder if it would be such a bad idea to get some sleep. Because, now that you think about it, you're tired. So, so tired. You honestly can't think of a single time you have felt so exhausted. Maybe you should rest your eyes, for just a minute.

It doesn't work. Earthbending a pit is a sudden process not a slow one. Not to mention, we were standing ontop of a roof, if he can earthbend under the ground, why can't we earthbend from his pillar, which was close enough to
>>G. Punch him in the face

Not to mention, our father was angry. He was not in the middle of a calming serenade of thought where he could logically think about things. He would have thrown a big rock at us, EXACTLY LIKE THE LAST TIME HE WAS ANGRY.

>I agree, but not my decision
It is.
It's entirely out of character for the veteran father with anger issues to take a calm moment while HIS OWN SON, a FACT THAT HAS SHOWN TO ANGER HIM was LECTURING HIM.

It's also ENTIRELY out of character that our father, a person who had been entirely caring and reasonable until we suddenly became the Avatar, in which his personality did a 720 and suddenly became completely power hungry and an asshole to his family, when he had entirely no reason to be.

Even people who have become corrupt with power try to reason people over to their side, we saw none of this from the father, just blatant disregard for anything anyone said to him. And for what reason? There was no reason.

>Taking out your father when you had the chance
And acting out of character? Sorry Somnius, but killing your father has a huge impact, physiologically and as an Avatar. Ah, but you knew that didn't you? I suppose it would be hard to find anyway to fault an Avatar that's been doing his job. I suppose him killing his father is a perfect way to make everyone fault him.

>Fighting or escaping rather than surrendering
And why? Why should we expect our father to become worse than Ren in simply one week?
There was no build up to it, it was like a fucking switch. BING, Greto is now insane with power, despite not actually having that much power at all.
>Not telling your father you planned to get his position taken away
Wow, I thought the whole "Please forgive us oh merciful father" BASICALLY OUTRIGHT MEANT THAT WE WEREN'T PLANNING ON DOING THAT.
Guess we should WRITE OUT EVERY SINGLE DETAIL, SO EXPLICITLY, THAT IT HURTS NOW.
>>
>>34378423
>Your father has been an Earthbender his whole life, not a few weeks.
so now he can suddenly make a bottomless pit without any actual bending motions. Something that even Kiyoshi (who's shown the most large-scale earthbending techniques) had to do the motions for, and could only do in the Avatar state?
>Your father gave plenty of indication that he wasn't quite right in the head.
true, but it was more that power had gone to his head than "batshit insane with a retarded power boost
>The Avatar State is how you survived falling into the pit
then why would we be damaged at all? We can airbend in the Avatar State. We should have been either safe on the ground, or aboveground holding dad's body and not knowing what happened or why people are yelling at us to stand down from a long distance away

Yeah, well I wish you weren't sorry and would stop giving in to people who don't like you and want to fuck up your quests. Seriously, if you never, ever, try and improve anything other than that. Stop letting them do this. It just ruins the fun for everyone else and makes you look like a shit QM. Which honestly, I really do not think you are. So yeah.

The quest ending like this has seriously made me question whether investing interest in your quests is a good idea, if you are going to let assholes shit it up so badly by doing shit like this.

Also I completely agree with this anon here. >>34378482

And btw, if you just wanted to stop running, I wouldn't be half upset as I am now. At least then I wouldn't feel cheated.

I still hope college works out for you.

So.
"Throw rock" and "throw bigger rock" and "Go up on a platform"
>And, given the fear he clearly had upon discovering you were the Avatar,
Fucking what. Why would he experience fear? There was no REASON for him to experience fear in the fucking slightest.
> it makes sense that he would work on making himself even more powerful.
Or establish relations with people who are powerful.....like, I don't know, Lee, or his WIFE, or any of his sons. Like anyone with any semblance of a mind does.

>Your father has been an Earthbender his whole life, not a few weeks.

Yet despite the fact bending is still in it's primal stages AND fucking Avatar Kyoshi had to do the motions when creating the our father can psychically create a fucking bottomless pit? this is bullshit & you know it.

>The Avatar State is how you survived falling into the pit
and yet we still fucking died of a concussion? Bullshit the avatar state should have allowed to at least survive the fall & any subsequent injuries.
>>
>>34378693
how does it feel to know he also killed Galda and Felna so no one could discover his treachery?
>>
>>34378722
Perfectly fine, since the Queen would march in and burn the entire thing to the ground.
>>
>>34378616
Why are you bothering?

The quest is over, Som's decided as much. Your energy is better spent asking for an epilogue and thinking about the next quest - and hoping to god we don't fuck up that one. Tbh, we should have killed our father threads ago.
>>
Som, I usually don't get that annoyed at when you make mistakes. But this thread, same as the fight with Ren, was just lazy writing
>>
>>34378352
Well, that's that. I think we should avoid being Avatar for a bit, or at least be born into an off-the-grid hermetic family. People trying to take advantage of our lack of political sense would be alot more in theme, then. Plus, we may even have to relearn how the language and thus cut down on speech write-ins.

Also, having a genuinely friendly group of people helping us and never having one of them try to kill us would be a big plus. If Toph betrayed Aang, that series woulda been alot shorter.
>>
>>34378722
Perfectly fine, since the Queen would march in and burn the entire thing to the ground.

OH WAIT, SHE'S SO FUCKING INCOMPETENT SHE CANT EVEN DETECT HOW THE PEOPLE ARE FEELING IN ANY WAY SENSE OR FORM, SO SHE OBVIOUSLY GETS DEPOSED BY OUR SUPER POWER FATHER

>>34378557
>advanced earhbending
>making pillars and throwing boulders

That's not exactly King Boomy tier there Somnius, and if we were his Son I think we might have a better understanding of his eartbending capabilities if he could make gigantic pits of death.
>>
>>34378563
You fell into the pit and Airbended to keep the impact from killing you. You also used Airbending to keep the stone from crushing you, but some still managed to hit you. The strain of doing so was also great.

>>34378560
You could have punched him in the face, or used Earthbending to beat him into submission. Either would have been better than giving a long fucking monologue.

>>34378596
Thanks man. And no, I did not want to stop running. I had many more things planned for future threads that I was looking forward to writing.

>>34378614
See>>34378645

>>34378616
Yeah, because he clearly trusted Ren and his family. And, after the previous fight, his relationship with your mother was rather strained. And, whether you think he should have experienced fear or not, it was explicitly stated that he was frightened when he found out what you were.

>>34378693
No, your mother eventually managed to kill him.

>>34378775
I'm sorry you feel that way.
>>
>>34378820
So why did you give the faggots what they wanted? Which was to kill another one of your quests.
I mean at least if you'd called a final destination vote or something... Just.. Fuck man.
>>
>>34378820
you still aren't addressing the main issue people have with the death Som. How the hell could he do something at the same level as the greatest earthbenders in history, in less time, without moving?
>>
>>34378820
Being in the avatar state means we would have easily been as powerful as our father in his concentrated mode, an considering we would do the gestures as well, we would have obviously been able to exit the place without a scratch.
>You also used Airbending to keep the stone from crushing you
Know something funny about the avatar state? It doesn't use unnecessary energy, and considering HOW FUCKING HUGE the pit was, we could have simply air-balled away.
>>
>>34378898
It's sad that Korra's Avatar State is stronger than ours, and she only has access to herself, since she snipped the cycle and no longer has any access to previous avatars.
>>
Sorry cunts, Somnius had to find some contrived way for you to die so he can start his next quest.

you faggots will play it and when Somnius gets bored of that quest the cycle will begin anew
>>
>>34378937
actually, doesn't that mean we should also have access to firebending jet-boots that can explode the side of mountains?

Somnius, for us to have reached terminal velocity, that hole would have had to have been at least 300-400 meters deep, even Ozai under the influence of the comet couldn't work that sort of magic.
>>
>>34378981

So what is the next quest you have lined up for us to fail at miserably?

Rocks fell you died, if you don't like it don't play ;p
>>
>>34378981
>You were already in the pit when it kicked in, so you couldn't just airball away.
Isn't Avatar state just godmode, as soon as it kick in you kick reason in the balls no matter how hurt you are?
If it kicked while we where falling there would have been no reason for us to reach the bottom of the pit, if it kicked once we crashed there would be no reason for us to be dead tired/dying.
>>
>Avatar Quest
>Rocks Fall You Die
>Literally
>>
>>34379149
or we could have been dead/dying, but somewhere safe. Raava wouldn't just leave the Avatar's body to suffocate in some pit. unless she could put us in stasis there somehow
>>
>>34379149
If you are in Avatar State you shouldn't die in a 1v1 Ever, it took whole armies to kill the other Avatars while they were in the Avatar State.
>>
>>34378981
Somnius, do you know how far you have to fall to reach Terminal Velocity?
573 Meters

This picture shows a building 498.4 meters tall.
Our father just earthbent in around about half a minutes time, a solid chunk of earth, which was enough to "see that he has opened a pit beneath the building" so not only is it a VERY VERY long pit, it is wide enough to encompass a building.

This is a feat of bending which has not been seen in the entire series, avatar mode or not, Sozin's comet or not. This is an impossible feat for someone to achieve in such a small amount of time.

>>
>>34379290
bigger than that. We went Avatar State, but still hit the ground hard. That means we had to get either to or near terminal velocity, trigger Avatar State, and then start slowing down. We're probably looking at closer to 700 meters. That's like a half-mile deep pit at least as far across as a house
>>
>>34379635
I was going minimum height, assuming that we avatar state'd at the last possible moment or some such, as only in that situation would Somnius' story actually be anywhere near believable about the avatar state.
