In some areas, bounty hunters have even supplanted local police entirely. Gibs-12, along with the rest of the Free Market District, is one such area, for when money is the only law, justice is only served to the highest bidder.
Normally you don’t care about that kind of stuff, but after being blamed for the death of a megacorporate megalomaniac (okay, his death was kinda sorta entirely your fault, but he started it), you have now found yourself with a bounty on your head the size of the late Floyd Stryx’s entire estate. So now you just have to climb down this train that your loyal Mechaniac Johnny Nitro somehow crashed into a flying skyscraper miles above the ground, make your way through a neon labyrinth of a planet and get back to your ship without getting caught, then possibly fight your way through hostile space until you can jump.Piece of cake, right? At least you have a moment of peace to come up with a plan while you, Johnny, Cernu, Toshka and the four biosaur mercenaries you’ve got with you climb down this train.>Find a car before anything else.>Rendezvous with Roger and the rest of the Last Dinosaurs before anything else >Planning can wait, ask Toshka what Floyd meant by “ex-Sanitation Committee officer”>Writein

>>34322065Yeah, guess so unless you wait for a tie-breaker to come along. At least they seem simple to combined, get car, drive to Roger, ask on way.
>>34321873Well I'm late, but if getting a car is the fastest way to Roger then who are we to choose?
> Naga timeGLORIOUS.
Hitting groundside seemed to be faster than what really should have been physically possible. You’d have to ask Johnny where exactly he got this train, but you doubt you’d be able to understand the answer. Instead, you make contact with Roger to confirm a meetup while your biosaurs do the same with King. Once that’s all taken care of and Toska has finished hotwiring a fried chicken fast-food van (the only car she could find that would fit four cyborg dinosaurs, a naga in fancy clothes, a mechanized mutant, and a dryad), you’re off. The ride is tense and slow, with Toshka avoiding the main roads and any known gang territories as she tries to make it to the Last Dinosaurs’ safehouse. Johnny, of course, is having none of that, leaning past you to shout at Toshka.“Gotta go fast! Gotta drive! Need to drive! NEED FOR SPEED!”“Down, Johnny! No! Sit still and eat your chicken!”Johnny grumbles inaudibly at your demand but complies all the same.“Still don’t get how you got those things to listen to you.” Toshka shakes her head, still keeping her eyes on the road and around you.“Matriarchal culture.” You explain. “They’re used to doing whatever they want unless it’s a woman yellin’ at them and since I was the only woman for hundreds of miles when I met them, they kinda imprinted on me.”“Sounds damn convenient if you ask me.”“Almost as convenient as having an ex-Sanitation Committee officer in my back pocket. Mind telling me what that’s about?”
>>34322712Her grip on the steering wheel tightens so much that you’re afraid she might break the thing, but she finally lets out a sight and relaxes just a tad. “We were dedicated to ‘keeping the city clean’, which meant getting rid of any dirty laundry megacorps paid us to burn. There’s lots of dirt in this city, and just a pinch of it is enough to make any scuzzer rich off the blackmail. Megacorps would hire us to make sure that didn’t happen.”“So why’d you leave?”“I was sixteen when it happened. After years of company loyalty, I finally got my first solo job, a company car, the works. All I had to do was take some drug-addled kid they handed me from Point A to Point B. No questions, no screwups, no talkin’, just plain old delivery. I could tell by the sockets in his head this kid was a net monkey – kids megacorps grab off the streets and plug fulla cyberware and network together into some kinda living computer. Messed up stuff, but it wasn’t my job to judge.”“Rosco?” Cernu chimed in.“Yeah, Rosco. I dunno, cap, I just…couldn’t. Seein’ that poor bastard all drugged up and outta his mind in pain. I knew they was gonna chop him up when they was done with ‘im to reuse the parts, and I just got sick of it all. Turned left when I supposed to turn right and somehow ended up here. Speaking of, we’re here.”You and the rest of your team push open the van’s back doors, only to be met by many, many biosaur guns. You see Roger being held in place with an oversized revolver pressed against his face.“My my, Naga.” King growls “You never told me you were so…wanted.”>Hold his soldiers in the truck hostage.>Try to smooth talk your way out of this>Let Toshka handle this>Writein

“I thought you said these guys were trustworthy, Toshka.” You mutter as she slowly steps out of the car with her hands up, her calm steps loud against the concrete floor of the run-down garage.“Now hold on, King, you don’t wanna do this.”“And why not? I take their heads, I get rich, my boys and I retire to somewhere warm and quiet. No more risking our necks every day, no more hiding from megacorps looking to cut us up, no more dealing with psychotic scuzzers like Stryx. I gotta look out for my own, you of all people should understand that.”Toshka takes another few cautious steps forward“Yeah, I understand. I understand that doing this will make you just like them. Just like Stryx and all those other ‘psychotic scuzzers’ who use people up and then cast em aside when they’re done with em. Just like Hammond Heavy Industries, who was willing to dissolve you down to cut costs on the next generation. Will you really be able to look your boys in the eye again when you’re no different from Hammond?”King’s gun was trembling now, ever so slightly, and his eyes darting around the room.“Tall talk from a Sanitation Officer.”“Ex-Sanitation Officer. I walked away when the price was too steep. All I’m asking is you do the same.”“And why don’t you walk away? We can even split the bounty.”By this time Toshka had made her between you and King, nearly close enough to touch his gun.“Because the lady you’re tryin’ to kill is my boss, and I still have enough professional integrity to stand by my boss, even if it means the death of me. If you can’t say the same about yourself, then I’d rather you just shoot me than live in a universe where The King, Captain Rex of the Last Dinosaurs, first, last, and only straight shooter in all of Gibs-12, and the only mercenary with a shred of honor on this whole rock and the only man left her that I respect, has become just another money-grubbing drone of the city.”
>>34323660King says nothing, but the weight of her words is obvious upon him. He has trouble holding his gun up, he full on looks from side to side at his men in order to find some sort of support in their eyes, and he fails to find any sort of satisfying retort to Toshka’s words.“Do you really think Ecks will forgive you with my blood on your hands?”King snarls and picks Toshka up by her horn. “That is the last time you get to use her name against me, understand?!” Before dropping her back to the cold concrete floor. Toshka just dusts herself off as she stands back up.“With any luck, this is the last we see of each other.”This gets a laugh out of King and he tosses a set of keys over his shoulder“You’ll need something sturdier than a chicken van to get out the hole you dug yourself into. One of our buggies ought to suffice.”You sigh as the situation deflates around you. Roger is released unharmed and the biosaurs begin to file out. Beta Squad actually even gives you a sort of half-salute and an “honor working with you ma’am” as they work their way out of the van, bucket of chicken nuggets under their arm.“You’ve got quite the friends, Toshka.” You finally say once the garage is empty of all things scaly and huge. Save yourself, of course.“Almost as good at makin’ em as you are.”“So who’s ‘Ecks’, anyways?”“Project X. Some kinda experiment on ‘unlocking the hidden potential of the human mind’, I dunno. Last Dinos escaped with her back in the day and begged me to infiltrate Hammond when they recaptured her. He’s kinda owed me for it ever since.”With that taken care of and brand new set of wheels, what’s next?>Take a straight shot to where the Sol Regret is docked and hope for the best>Take a more roundabout path to avoid notice>Check in with Rosco and the crew to see if they can’t give us any sort of heads up>Writein

When you heard the word “buggy”, you were afraid you were going to be crammed in some tiny little go-kart whose only virtue was speed. The metal behemoth you’re currently staring at brings a lot of words to mind like “ground helicopter” or “high octane death machine”, but “buggy” isn’t one of them. It’s still lightly armored and obviously built for speed, but it appears to have been built to house two biosaurs with a gun nest on top and hand rails for two more to hang on the edge. Needless to say, there’s room enough for all five of you in the driver’s compartment alone, though Johnny does take the gun since he wasn’t allowed to drive. You’re almost afraid to see what King considers a proper truck and as nice as your buggy is, you fear it might not be enough.“Can’t Rosco like, hack the gigaframe’s mainbox or something and give us an idea of what’s out there?”“He could, but…”“Look, I try to be sensitive to my crew’s hang-ups and not make you do anything you don’t want to, but I’m also sensitive to decapitation. He’s just gonna have to put his big boy leather jacket on and get over his bad memories. If I can wear a borosdamn dress, then he can deal with some cyberspace harassment. It’s not like he can have anybody after him that’s worse than what I already have to deal with.”“…right. On it, boss.”After a brief argument of which you only hear half of, your own commlink chimes.
>>34324458“Alright boss, you win. Diving in three, two, one…”Suddenly, the GPS built into your buggy throws a fit, red X’s triangles, and other symbols covering the thing.“Good thing we didn’t take the main road.” Toshka comments. “Damn thing is covered in roadblocks and landmines.”“Three bogies inbound.” Rosco cuts back in over your comm. His voice sounds…closer, somehow, yet more hollow and with an electronic flange behind it. “Two sportscars and a big rig.”How are you going to deal with this one, Captain?>Evade! “My turn!” Johnny shouts, climbing down from the gun nest and making his way to the driver’s seat. “MY TURN!”“Get off me ya scuzzin’ idiot! I’m tryin’ to drive here!”“Now Toshka, you have been hogging the wheel for a while now.” You chide “Don’t you think it’s time Johnny got a turn?”“You think this is a fuckin’ joke?! He don’t even know the roads around here!”“I AM the roads!” Johnny retorts.“But – you know what, fine. At least when we crash we’ll be going fast enough dyin’ will be painless enough.”“At last, I am whole!” Johnny shouts as he grabs the wheel and starts laughing maniacally. The sudden increase in speed leaves the big rig in the dust, but the two sportscars have little trouble keeping up, even if they do have to duck and weave through traffic. You notice they’re both hoodless and one has a rocket launcher touting individual waiting for you to get in range of his toy.“Come! Chase us! CHASE US! Ooh, it goes upside down!” That’s the only warning you get as Johnny veers off to the right, taking a road that does indeed loop upside down.“Why does it go upside down?! Why are we upside down, Toshka?!” You yell in a panic, coiling around Cernu in fear.“It’s an antiroad.” She responds calmly. “Don’t tell you’ve never been to a big city before.”“I’m a pirate! I stick to spaceports and outlaw worlds!”“Oh relax, every vehicle in this city is equipped with antiroad-capable wheels. We could stop dead still and still be sticking.”“NO stopping! No dying! No stayin’ still till the end, baby!”“You trying to get us swakked?! There’s a roadblock ahead you shrapnel-brained idiot!”Johnny just laughs as he slams down on the gas, speeding towards the roadblock. “Turn around you dipshit!” Toshka shouts, trying to grab the wheel back from him.“No cryin’ till the end, baby!”
>>34325325The roadblock is in view now, and steadily growing larger.“We’re about to crash, jackass!”“This is the end, my friend!”At the last second, Johnny slams on the brakes, powersliding right in front of a ramshackle truck that almost looks like it belongs to the Mechaniacs with the amount of metal it has welded to it.“Catch me if you can, slowmo!”With that, he accelerates madly in the other direction, dodging the rocket-toting sportscar and slamming head first into the other one, knocking it off the road and sending it careening “upwards” into the city now that its antigrav tires have disengaged. You look behind you to see the scrap metal truck and the sportscar exchanging blows as they both chase after you.“I always did want to be fought over just once.” You say with a sly grin. Toshka openly groans as Cernu tries to suppress a giggle. With the car and the truck focused so heavily on each other, they don’t even notice the big rig that Johnny just passed. It’s a gaudy thing, covered in bright lights and chrome, but none of that does it any good as it slams into the truck and the car, causing the rocketman to pull the trigger in surprise. The resulting explosion destroys the two smaller cars outright and decimates the cabin of the big rig, pulling the trailer behind it into the “sky” as the front antigrav wheels deactivate in the carnage. Before the whole thing can be pulled to its doom, the back of the big rig blows open and a pack of bikes and hoverbikes spills out, narrowly avoiding doom.>Keep moving forward back onto the main road, bikes aren’t worth dealing with.>Have Johnny turn back around and barrel through the bike pack. You put a hand on Johnny’s shoulder.“Johnny, I have no idea what’s going on and I can’t even begin to guess at what you’re doing or planning, so I trust whatever you decide to do. So long as you fuck those bikes up.”You get a shaky salute from Johnny along with “I have no idea where we are!” as he fishtails and charges headlong into the now scattering herd of bikes as they try to make way for you.“Padstow: go help him out. We’ve got guns, don’t we? Let’s use them.”Roger complies, but not after shaking his head and taking several hearty swigs from his flask. By the time he gets up there, Johnny has already made his way into the middle of the bike pack and has begun bullying any bike that gets to close by slamming into them and trying to force them against the railings at the edge of the road. Most are skilled enough to avoid him and continue taking potshots with their guns, but a few unlucky ones find themselves careening down into the city. More join their ranks once Roger opens fire, focusing fire on the wheeled bikes and knocking out their tires. Though due to Johnny’s reckless driving, he mostly just fires erratically and hopes for the best. Despite the best efforts of the two, you can’t shake or shoot the remaining bikes, a situation made more dire when one of your back tires is blown out by a lucky shot.“Dammit, we gotta get off this road!” Roger shouts. Unfortunately, you’re just now about to hit halfway on the loop.“Any ideas, Toshka?” You suggest“Only one. Rosco: time for a traffic reroute.”“But-”
>>34326216“Now, Rosco! Either that or we all die!”“...fine.”Once you pass the absolute top of the loop, you see a bluish field go up as the road begins to split. The bikes behind you are frozen in place the moment they hit the field and the ones close enough to get caught between the two are shorn in half. Roger and Johnny make short work of the only two that managed to break ahead of you.“Perfect!” Toshka cheers. “Now we just gotta follow this road to its exit, turn left here, then make right, hit that elevator, and we’re in the clear.”“Why is the road moving?!” You shriek is response.“Oh get over yourself, you bump-” Before she can finish, alarms sound and red lights flash on either side of the road as it freezes up and some kind of stasis field similar to the one that stopped the bikes fills the entire road, stopping you dead in your tracks. Much to Johnny’s rage and frustration. “…kin. Shit.”“Why did the road stop moving?” You ask, calmer than before but no less nervous.“I think she found us.”Suddenly, your GPS display winks out, only to be replaced with the word ‘LIAR’ in bright red text, scrolling angrily across the screen. Nearby billboards and road signs take up the call.“Yep, she found us alright. We’re swakked.”“’She’? Who’s ‘she’?! Who in this whole damned city could be so scary?” You shout at her.“Try the whole damn city.”“They were already after me!”“Not the city itself.”“…what.”Rosco’s electronic voice cuts in. “Cap, meet ISIS. When they first implemented the ISIS program to reduce crime and traffic, it was all sorts of glitchy so they sent us trode monkeys in to check it out. Turns out that the mess of code and programs that was ISIS had achieved self-awareness.”“You’re dating. A city.”“I was the only one skilled enough to crack through her security protocols! I was the only one there when she first achieved true sapience and we really hit it off! What was I supposed to do, expose her and have her get torn apart, enslaved, and repurposed?”You bury your face in your hands as Cernu giggles. This is just too much.“Alright fine. It’s not like I could just broadcast our location to everyone across space!”“You mean you left that poor girl waiting for you for two fucking years?! Your ass is swakked when I get up there!” Toshka shouts.“It wasn’t on purpose! Look, we’ll just take her with us and it’ll be fine! The ship oughtta have enough room to fit-”“Nope!” You cut him off. “Ain’t no way I’m gonna let anyone take my ship from me, especially when I already share the hyperdrive with a tree. And I’ll behead Ouroboros himself before I let you date my ship.”“Look, she says she ain’t letting you go unless I stay behind or she comes with, so you gotta do something!”

“Ladies like to be free as a bird, Rosco. Don’t try and contain them or else you’ll just end up stuck in situations like this.”“I don’t…”“Just tell her she’s welcome aboard, so long as she lets us go and trusts her captain.”After a moment, the alarms and red lights die down, the stasis field winks out, and the road begins shifting once more.“Excellent decision, ISIS! Now just wait right…everywhere, I guess, as your captain proves her worth!”You nudge Johnny’s shoulder and point to an airstrip below (above) you and he nods in approval. The trip is a bumpy one and more than a few bounty hunters took advantage of the noise to set up new ambushes, but your newest crewmate made short work of them via nearby automated cranes and the street itself. The trickiest part is breaking into a heavily fortified airstrip filled with experimental planes and helicopters of all sorts, or at least it would be if you didn’t have a city-sized supercomputer cracking its defenses wide open for you along with the frenzied driving of Johnny Nitro. Even the flesh and blood guards give you little trouble since they’re too busy being held hostage by their own turrets and drones. Once there, you have Johnny pull up to the shiniest, most tucked away jet fighter you find.“I don’t fuckin’ believe it.” Toshka whistles as she glances over the jet. “This is a Deep Strike Amorphous Fighter. Wireless mindsync with the pilot, built for space, air, sea, and land combat, as well as seamless transition between them all. This thing ain’t even supposed to exist yet.”“Like I said, ladies like to be free as a bird. So whaddya think, Isis? This one good enough for you?”
>>34327894You don’t get a response from her or Rosco. Instead, you notice the jet in front of you flare to life even though no pilot is inside. It then begins to rumble and shake as you watch the whole thing shift, growing arms, legs, and gradually taking on an overall more humanoid form. Once its transition is complete, the giant robot looks itself over and a synthetic, feminine voice projects from it.“Wireless synchronization: complete. File transfer: complete. All systems nominal.”“I take that as a yes?”“It is…cramped, but it will do. Where is Rosco?”“You got quite the one-track mind for a city. He’s on my ship, so you’re gonna have to take me there if you want to see him.”“Acknowledged.”The robot reaches down and picks up your buggy before it jumps off the airstrip and flies towards the starport. Despite all the bounty hunters chasing you, few of them have access to anything in the way of air support, fewer still capable of taking on Isis’s new body. You order your crew to begin liftoff without you and to leave the hangar open.
>>34327917Right before the Sol Regret is ready to begin atmospheric exit, you and your away team crash into the hangar. Isis sits crosslegged in a corner as the rest of you spill out of the battered buggy, still a little dazed from your flight.“Cernu: go get ready to jump us out of here, any neutral space will do. Toshka: go make sure the ship isn’t under attack or anything and be prepared to defend it with Texaport if it is. Roger: go get me a drink. Get everyone a drink. Johnny: keep being Johnny. “There’s a long, boring talk about keeping secrets like the fact that you’re dating the entire city-planet we’re infiltrating a secret from me, but for right now I’ll just say ‘you’re welcome’ for fixing your mess.”“I, uh, thanks. Thanks a bunch, cap’n. I mean it.”You tower over him and lean in close, flashing your fangs at him in a mischievous smile.“Oh don’t thank me just yet. Your girlfriend is over there and you two have a lot to work out and I can’t help you out of this one.”“Oh, uh, right. Hoo boy…”“Just make sure you stand away from anything valuable in case she uses the lasers.”You clap your hands together to get the attention of the Mechaniacs, all of which are currently enthralled by the giant robot.“Alright you scrap metal madmen, go get yourself a drink and leave the two lovebirds alone. And you two!” You point at Isis and Rosco, “Sort things out with your words, I have enough carbon scoring and bloodstains to deal with from the Mechaniacs! No making minimechs, either, we got enough boarding suits as it is!”That taken care of, you make your way to the bridge, taking a jug of rum from Roger as you pass him by. You get there just before it’s time to jump, slotting the new chip into the Charting Dais so it reconfigure the cube while you wait. You take a swig of the rum and look at everyone around you looking back at you.“Well? What are you waiting for? Get us out of here already. I’m sick of neon and upside down roads and floating rich people.”“Of course, Captain. You are still wearing your dress, by the way.” Texaport chimes in.You take another sip of rum. “I know.”“Right then. Jumping in…”Yep, you own this joint.
>>34329160Once the jump is taken care of, you hit the mess hall and grab a quick bite to eat to the shock and embarrassment of Lyka and the gushing compliments of Lorelei, though you pay neither of them much mind. Instead you take your food down to the Green Room and meet up with Cernu, just now exiting the hyperdrive root system she has to climb into in order to jump.“My, captain, you’re looking awfully stunning.”“I don’t wanna hear it. Get me out of this damned getup already, woman, we still gotta discuss your punishment for earlier and I don’t think it’s very fair you’re the only naked one here.”Cernu laughs and smiles walking towards you in the damned teasing sashay of hers.“So forward today, captain. Treasure always did…excite you.”---You don’t try to contain your moans as Cernu works those skilled, nimble fingers of hers into all the right spots. It just feels way too good and dammit, you’ve earned it. Besides, you’re always helpless whenever she busts out the homemade scented oils. The only thing that breaks you out of your euphoria is a nervous voice that most certainly does NOT belong to your first mate.“Uh, cap’n…”“Dammit Rosco, can’t you see I’m in the middle of a massage here? How’d you even get in here?”“I let him in.” Cernu pipes up cheerily, sitting on your waist and working her way down your tail. squeezing and caressing every single scale along the way. You’re laying on your belly, naked save for the headdress.“Dammit Cernu! You just added another hour to my massage for that one.”“I shall find a way to live.” She says, squeezing another moan out of you.“I can just jet by later, cap’n.”“Just get it over with already!”“A letter!” He shouts, more than a little flustered by the display in front of him. “Letter came for ya while you were out!”“No shit? An honest to Ouroboros written letter? Hand it here and get outta here already.”
>>34329176Rosco places the letter in front of you and scampers off, Cernu’s laugh chasing him all the way out. You just ignore her for the time being and open the envelope to read your letter.“Dear Lady Captain Valdessa Atroxius:You have been cordially invited to the seventeenth birthday gala of the most illustrious Scarlet Mygala Carpara Sparsidia Aureo-Flava the Third and Aureo-Flava Manor (coordinates available on the datachip enclosed within). You may bring one guest and one manservant with you, and food for the rest of your staff will be provided in the lower quarters. We shall hope to see you in attendance.Signed, The Family Aureo-Flava”Great. More rich people stuff. You decide to hold Cernu responsible and make a note to "punish" her for it once your massage is over.END OF THREAD TWELVE
>>34329198Thanks for running! It was a ton of fun! I hope we get to go to the gala.
And archived!I didn't mean to make tonight's session drag on like that, I just wanted to get to a nice ending, since after this I'm down to a once a week schedule. Next thread won't be until the 30th or 31st, I'm afraid.I hope you had fun and continue to have fun in the future!>>34329255You better believe it!
>>34329198>ScarletWasn't that the bitch who stole the chip? Did we just get invited to the birthday party of our rival/apprentice?
>>34329198Thanks for the thread.I always love the images you use for Cernu.

>>34329306That was The Scarlet Widow. What kind of amateur would make up their own nickname, only to use their own name as the basis? This must be someone else.>>34329308>I always love the images you use for Cernu.Me tooIt's sort of the bodyshape I imagine for her, just with viney dreadlocks instead of bushy leaf hair.
>>34329368What kind of amateur, indeed?
