You push open the hatch above you and stand up- you can easily stand on the floor and still have your arms and head comfortably outside of the tank. Pulling your binoculars up to your eyes, you keep an eye on a spot where a rustic country road bends around a copse of trees as it follows the river down the valley.

As you stare down the road, trying to keep from yawning you notice something different. The birds have stopped chirping. In their place is the quiet thrum of six idling Fiat engines and the wind through the trees.

Yeah. Something's coming.

You barely have time to warn the tank next to you before the quiet is split by the crack of cannonfire- a single shot, followed by two more in rapid succession. "Heads up!" You shout over to Cremini- the commander of the CV-35 twenty feet to your left. She nods and passes the information along.

It isn't long before a pair of CV-35's tear around the corner- one of them taking it so tight she goes up on a single track before the tank slams back to the ground and continues on. Less than ten seconds later you see Maginot's first tank- a Renault R40, following closely by two more Renaults.

"Let's go!" You yell. Your driver doesn't even need the order- she kicks the tankette into gear and powers it down the side of the hill as you duck back into the cabin, closing the hatch behind you.

You tuck yourself up against the gun- you preloaded it as soon as you were in position- and as the little CV-35 bounces down the hill
you side the leading R40, drawing a bead on its exposed drive wheel.

You line up the shot- waiting for the gun to come into alignment instead of trying to keep it aimed and then, at the right moment you fire.

The 20mm anti-tank gun's recoil is controlled by its mounting, but it still kicks into your shoulder uncomfortably- But your aim is true and the little anti-tank round snaps neatly into the road wheel, cracking it and causing the French tank to immediately throw its track and spin to a hault.

Unfortunately this leaves its 37mm gun pointed straight at you.

"RAMMING SPEED!" You shout, as your battlelust rises in you. Let's see what three tons of angry Italian armor moving at near-on 45km/h does to them!

"What?!" You driver askes, questioning your order just long enough that you miss the opportunity to ram your tankette down the R40's smug French throat. Your CV-13 flashes past the enemy tank fast enough that it never gets a chance to fire a shot.

You let go of the gun and pop the hatch, looking back on the attack. Just as planned! All six of your 20mm-armed tankettes had scored mobility kills on the French tanks- though all were still alive and ready to return fire.

"Keep going!" You call over to your driver as the little tankettes motor through their ambush and disappear into the treeline. The six tankettes are joined by the two that had lead the Magninot tanks into the ambush in the first place.

A few seconds later, the French guns begin firing into the forest, but its completely blind- if they're lucky they might hit a tree! But as their fire falls away, your group begins to slow down- as fast as the tankettes are, its difficult to keep the speed up safely in the woods.

"Alright, good job guys! Lets get ready for the next one!" You say to the CV commander next to you- a girl by the name of Pesto. She nods and passes the information down the line- small and fast they might be, but small and fast didn't leave room for a radio.

Just means that your pack of tankettes have stick close or know how to operate independantly.

Back into the fray!

"Alright, take us around, Cavatelli..." You say down to your driver. "Let's go have fun with their main force?" You slip another 20mm round into the chamber, getting ready for the attack- they can't be too far off, either.

You don't need to relay the order out- standing order was for each element to follow their lead, and each lead to follow you. So as you turn to loop back towards the enemy forces, all the tankettes begin to follow you. "Full speed ahead! Avante Anzio!"

You break through the forest with the French heavy tanks having already passed your position, your driver turns and you take aim for your first shot. You line up on a Char's running gear and pull the trigger.

The round doesn't penetrate the entire wheel, but does enough to crack the track open- by the time the damaged link makes it to the front of the tank, the tension snaps it off and the B2 gently slides turns and falls into the ditch on the side of the road, it's rear half sticking up and blocking the way for the tanks behind it while the tanks in front continue forward.

Around you, the rest of your tankettes are wreaking havoc across their force- machinegun fire strafes along the tanks dies and anti-tank rifles fire for weak rear armor. The entire convoy is in disarray at this point- Maginot turrets are slowly traversing each way trying to find targets.

"Alright, let's go!" You say as you shake your driver's shoulder. "Hornet's nest has been beaten- lets get out before we get stung!" With a nod she expertly weaves the CV-13 behind the lead B2, using its rear chasis as a guard against its turret before zipping back over again and into the woods.

Within a few seconds, the rest of the tankette swarm has followed you back into the safety of the forest. You pop your head back out of the top of the tank and look back- through the trees you can still see the convoy- the rear half has almost stopped entirely, having to carefully move themselves off the road and around their immobilized teammate- the foreward half is still moving out of the ambush zone- fracturing the Maginot team further.

"Alright..." You say with a grin. "We did our job..." And not surprisingly your group hadn't taken a single hit- Meanwhile the Maginot group had been split into two easily manable chunks and a few immobilized and helpless tanks.

Easy pickings!

You unfold your map and look at it as your driver guides the tank towards the reserve point- you'd head there while the SPG groups moved in to clean up the few chunks of still-dangerous tanks left for Maginot. Your expert job at breaking up their solid assault group would force them to attack a few tanks at a time- synergy!

For the first time since you'd joined the senshado team, the other schools would be forced to take Anzio seriously.

"Avante Anzio!" You shout as you rise through the commander's hatch. The call is repeated a dozen more times across your tankette force.
