Considering that the last one was such a resounding success, I'm making another!

Continuing our exploration and construction of the galaxy's poorest space marines.

http://1d4chan.org/wiki/Conservators

Some storytime was done at the end of the last thread, link to it can be found on the wiki page, go check it out!

In the meantime, continue being awesome everybody
>>
>>34287751
I'm all worn out from all the writing I did earlier, so not more storytime tonight I'm afraid.

I'll still try to flesh out the various planets in the March however.
>>
In trying to make this irl, what would one use for the Tumults/Rhinokeros? How would one armor them?
One horned, two horned, or are they frill-less triceratops?

Also, do they have snipers amongst them. Seems like something they'd gravitate towards, conservation of ammo and suits and all.

Here's the pic I consider the baseline for them.

They would likely be armored with large slabs of articulated armor, like Appa from Avatar TLA I believe.

And I love that you're making this in actual models, I can't wait to see them! I'll be sure they go up on the wiki page.

I'm given to understand this is the inspiration/a possible depiction. And sure, they probably would like sniper rifles, if they had any. Remember, this is a whole chapter working with what they have, and what they have is scraps. They utilize absolutely everything, in the best way they can manage. If they have sniper rifles, they are treasured and rare, just like everything else.

Now how did I end up with the thumbnail?
>>
>>34288126
This will be months from now. I'm originally from /co/ and this is my first foray into models since zoids were a thing. Just bought 9 marines and a scout sniper on ebay, and found the closest store is a 5 minute drive. Feels good to get a tangible hobby.

I think I still have a liger zero, somewhere...

>>34288160
yep, was just wondering if anyone had a differing idea in mind. Considering their world I assumed they would be fluffier.
>>
>>34288252
Awesome! Just upload it yourself then, easy enough.

As for me, I've only done modeling with Gundam kits, as I don't have the cash tools or skills to paint anything, or assemble anything with glue...

I just downloaded the new edition core rulebook and the IG codex, I'm considering trying to play with cardboard counters to try and get the hang of it once I wrap my head around the rules.

Also thanks for the tip helpful anon from earlier, I'm getting VASSAL 40k now. Hopefully I can have some fun with it.

Seeing as how the Conservators have little to no tanks, would they use medieval siege engines for war instead? Maybe a little bit more advanced?
>>
>>34290276
Perhaps in some situations, but only ever when dealing with the local feral orks.

In case you don't know, the Asharn March has a psyker population that's quite frankly a little worrying, so psykers often end up filling the same roles as heavy weapons or special weapons in the Conservators.
>>
>>34290320
I never did check the article recently, best get on that
>>

It's my fault, I haven't put some new info into the page.

I hope your recovery is a swift one and that you feel better soon
>>
>>34290391
Good, I was going to say that that part wasn't in the article yet, the psyker part.

also gives em a good excuse to fight chaos in terms of having a good source of conflict.

Also might explain why the administratum wanted to uplift the marches: a relatively stable high psyker population would be interesting, but they couldn't justify if on mostly rumors after waaagh
>>
>>34290722
The one major issue I've been grappling with is that if they are locally trained and equipped, and the Black Ships really don't go to that area too often... then aren't these unsanctioned psykers?

I don't personally have an issue with them not being taken to Terra for soul binding and being raised locally... but I also want to make the Conservators as un-heretic as possible without straying too far from what they are.

>>34290535
Thank you, I'm getting better, lots of bedrest and oregano.
>>
>>34290781
That is a good question. The way i've heard librarians are trained is that new brothers are screened for psychic potential and trained for it if they show competency once they complete scout training. At least I think so.

Not really unsanctioned i'd say.

If i recall most marine chapters are not IMMUNE to the inquisitions call but are generally just, well left to their own devices more often then not.
>>
>>34290849
Sounds good to me. So they would be locally trained rather than being taken off to Terra.

Adding new stuff to the page now.
>>
>>34290925
Okay added a lot to the page.
>>
Basically I'm taking a small page out of the reasonable marines handbook.

The March will eventually produce a sort of Imperial Guard force that's heavily styled after the normal guard, but under the command of the ruling council or body, and is trained and deployed alongside the Conservators to give them much needed support.
>>
>>34291459
But where are they at the 'now'?

If a squadron of freebootaz landed, who would be called to take them down? Do the rhinos even have armor at this point?
>>
>>34291844
As of 'now' the Conservators would come in to deal with it, the PDF isn't well armed enough yet. However they do deploy in limited numbers alongside forces being sent outside the March, and do defend their homes, they're just not good enough to do it on their own yet.
>>
>>34291086
Looks good to me! Lookin forward to seeing where this goes.
>>
I still say it's weird that they're equipped primarily with Corvus armour and that their acquisition of said armour is described as being donated "cast offs" from other chapters.
This just does not compute.

When a new chapter is formed they are equipped by the AdMech with new gear and, if they're lucky, their progenitor chapter will pass on a small number of relics from their own armoury. Chapters don't just toss out old wargear, they worship it. Remember that generations of heroic warriors of the chapter have used and died with that stuff. They haven't made Corvus armour in thousands of years and each suit will have thousands upon thousands of years of history and stories behind them. Some chapters even consider ancient wargear to be members of the chapter, as do most techmarines.
Why do you think the Consecrators' makes such a big deal about them having lots of old armour and weapons?

*Why do you think the Consecrators' FLUFF makes such a big deal...
>>
>>34293076
See... this is were reading previous threads is a good idea. They are full of fluff... and the answer to your question.
They are in mark 5 "heresy" armor, which is never really a relic. It was cheaply made, mostly by stapleing old suits together.
>>
>>34289725
Would offer you some friendly games, but don't have internet to my computer. Reddit was supposidly setting up a league for VASSAL or something.

>>

>They are in mark 5 "heresy" armor, which is never really a relic.

So we have armour that fought in what's probably the greatest and most defining war of the Imperium, which may have been touched (or struck) by a primarch, or worn in the presence of the Emperor himself.

Nope, not a relic, ain't happening.
>>
>>34296557
And it ends with the ork "pulling on his scarf"
Not really a satisfying ending.
>>
>>34296645
I figured it was surplus made during the heresy, not required and then stored until one day someone notices they're paying for an entire warehouse filled with power armor and adds it to the pile of "stuff were going to throw at the March so we don't have to think about it any more". So there's little history to most of the suits before the Conservators got a hold of it aside from the stuff some of the veterans who were included in the " stuff lying around" founding of the Chapter. And those suits ARE relics and treated with respect by the Conservators. Still mostly shit.
>>
>>34290781
By that logic every Librarian of every chapter is unsanctioned. It would appear that the Black Ships are only allowed to chapter worlds by invitation.

Given that the March was seldom visited before the chapter arrived, ass end of nowhere, and the locals culled their own with brutal effectiveness I don't see anyone outside caring too much or even noticing if they are doing anything odd.
>>
>>34296522
Damn archive.

The magnetic clasps holding the cape around his neck snapped free without issue, the marine not even slowing down. The ork had made a rather glaring blunder, using his only remaining hand, already partly full with a combat knife, to try and pull on his trailing clothes. There was a reason he kept the traditional dueling garb, it wasn't just for show, it was a distraction and it had worked perfectly. The ork realized its mistake, growling and turning, but Arakin was already inside his reach, bringing his sword slashing down. With a howl and an arc of blood his remaining functional arm was lost as it was cut off at the elbow, dropping to the ground to twitch.

The nob bellowed and turned as if to charge with his teeth, but the last thing he saw was the oncoming point of the Conservator's rapier as it passed through his right eye and into his small brain, the sword twisting and ending the greenskin's life. Arakin drew the sword free, sidestepping the falling corpse that fell past him. He turned again, in a ready stance just in time to see the last of the boyz dropping dead to a lasbolt. The entire battle had lasted scarcely a minute
>>
>>34297398
He nodded, bringing his sword down in a dramatic flash, flicking blood from the blade. He reached down to his belt, pulling out a large white cloth, cleaning his sword before returning it to its scabbard, throwing his cape about his shoulders again, the white stained with red. It would need another cleaning.

"Sergeant, are your men alright?" he asked, standing over the shaken looking guardsmen.

The sergeant nodded. "Yes my lord, some injuries but no dead... had you not come my lord we would have been wiped out." He said, bowing and making the Aquila.

Arakin reached out a friendly hand again. "I have had more than enough of people bowing to me. You and your men fought bravely today guardsman, I am glad I found you in this ruined place. Now come, let us regroup with your comrades." He said, the man nodding as he drew his sword again, leading them off towards the Imperial Guard main force.
>>
>>34297409
That's the end.

So it is 'ye olde', but brand-new when they recieve it? They'd still have the armor they showed up in.

Company weapons, I'd think the heavier worlds would have longer armaments. Amakahd if only to reach the enemy from mount. Endurance, because knocking someone off balance can be the decisive blow in combat.

It would be funny seeing two armies with armored cavalry charge, then have to hop off when the Tumults start sniffing each other.

Given that the alchemists have been taught the secrets of black powder

>Because the chapter needed boltshels and they weer sick of having to by crate loads of them off of House Mackyntire. The local bolts are okay if you don't expect much. They still buy crates of bolts from House Mackyntire but save them now for special occasions

Can it be said that the local armies are just starting to experiment with the first experimental firearms?

They bow and arrow, or crossbow and bolt, are still used by the vast, vast majority of armies because they are cheaper, quicker to reload and everyone knows how to use and make them.

The chapter is encouraging its sponsored smiths to design better and better guns and will release them to wider circulation when they are World War 1 level rifles and Gatling Gun levels of useful so as to cut out all the development climb and speed things up a bit. They are hoping to do this by 070M42 at the latest. By ~150M42 they hope to have the first prototype automatic, hand held, not shit, firearms being locally produced by a new generation of gunsmiths.

By 200 - 250M42 point, assuming they can call in enough favors and borrow enough ships, they are planning to bring the might of all the Asharn March Worlds to bear in one colossal and overwhelming assault the ork held world of Chiron.

Once that time is reached the tipping point of the chapters fortune will be achieved. They will have a Forgeworld. A chapter in charge of a forgeworld. Unprecedented but legally acquired by Rite of Conquest. Politically unpopular Tech-priests drawn with the promise of a workshop of their own and loyal to the Conservators and the Asharn March.

270M42 and the Golden Age will be well established and the old plan to colonize and claim more worlds from that point in an unstoppable crusade will have begun in full. With the industrial might of the forge world to power it and the bounty of the agri-worlds to feed it and the determination of the Conservators to lead it.

But for now its is flintlocks and not many of those.

Responsibility must be taught before letting children handle fire.

Bows and crossbows and slings just store up the power of human muscles and release it all at once. Its human.

But the ability to casually kill is different. Godlike.

The Conservators are introducing the idea of them before making them widespread.

The Conservators can still remember them when the composite bow was "HOLY SHIT DUDE THIS WILL CHANGE THE FACE OF WARFARE FOREVER, HOLY FUCK WHAT HAS MAN CREATED!" level of news. Not the Conservators as an order either. Some of the Conservators from that era are still around and are wary of changing shit too quickly and causing social unrest.

Social unrest is an easy matter for other chapters to deal with. Kill them, and their families and their friends just to make sure the lesson is learned in full. But for the Conservators they are friends and family and if a serious civil war or rebellion did ever occur on one of their worlds it would be a significant drain on resources and moral.
>>
>>34300438
I remember from 1632/Ring of Fire book series that shotguns and shells are extremely easy to make, even with renaissance level tech. It's one of those things that we didn't invent until after the fact.
It's just a cup of powder with either buckshot or a slug.
>>
>>34300438
This is basically canon for the future of the March.

They will become a realm to rival or even outshine the glory of Ultrimar, and be hailed as the heroes and guardians of their subsector, and create a new realm of Imperial might that's actually a pretty damn nice place to live.

But that's in the future, not now, though it is where they are headed.
>>
>>34302159
That is, if some unearthed archaeotech doesn't kill them, a Tyranids splinter fleet doesn't notice some tasty worlds and snap them up, a new WAAAGH! doesn't pass through, some Eldar of either variety doesn't think it worth their time to eradicate the new worlds, chaos takes more than a glance or any number of bad things. Necrons and Tau are at least unlikely. But everything else is at the least possible.
>>
>>34302483
Considering the veil, Necrons are just as likely and Nids.
>>
>>34302483
They've learned their lesson about archaeotech. Hell's Crucible all but exterminate the Sixth and Seventh companies.

I can imagine the occasional Tzneetchian cult springing up. Its a realm that is hopeful and that feeds Tzneetch. Khorne would be oddly starved. This must be the least warmongering chapter in the whole Imperium.

'Nids, A proper WAAAAGH!!! or Necrons would fuck them up something royal. So would an actual effort by the Dark Eldar.

Tau are on the other side of the galaxy.

Craftworlders could fuck them up but it would be to their detriment. The Conservators keep the orks bottled up nicely.

Or thats how I see it at least.
>>
>>34302876
They're kinda close to the eastern fringe I believe.

Not super close, but certainly not the far side of the galaxy.
>>
>>34303003
If they are in the southwest of Tempestus, There's still the bulk of the Tyranids and Ultramarine between the Tau and the March. So... Okay, about a quarter to a third of the galaxy, but still far too far away for the Tau to realistically have any impact.
And Necrons could be under the surface somewhere, but for now it looks like the coast is clear. They're not everywhere, after all. Meeting them is an unpleasant uncommon surprise.
Tzeentch, 'Nids and Orks are yeah, the most likely foes for them to face. And... refreshingly evil. No ambiguity.
Don't forget though that the Eldar might see a future best served with the absence of the Conservators. They can be utter wankers if they want, for now they're friendly, but a full strength Chapter augmented with psykers in their backyard not distracted by Orks is... Worrying for a xeno race. The Eldar may well become foes in the future.
>>
>>34303341
I can see the eldar becoming puppet masters or friends or more probably both.

They are helping a chapter in its time of desperation and they are not a chapter that forgets. "All debts will be paid".

In the future they could call upon favors or subtly nudge them in the direction of orks they want removed, becasue fuck orks.
>>
>>34303482
All debts will be paid only works so long the Eldar don't become fucks. And space elves can be fucks.
In which case they're paying Humanity's debt to the xenos.

If the Eldar have any sense they'll remain too prickly to attack and assist in attacking more important targets, you are right. But it can't be discounted that they may one day clash.
>>
>>34303341
They're in the northeast of tempestus I believe.

Right on the border with Ultima I think.
>>
>>34303767
In first or second thread galactic south-west fringe was mentioned as little fluff is set there.

I think the idea was to keep it as far away from anything important in the official fluff as possible.
>>
>>34304023
Sounds fine to me. Though running into the Tau at some point would be fun.
>>
>>34304023
Plus the veiled region lends more credibility to Terra forgetting about them, and House Mackyntire are unusual for knowing safe warp paths through the area.
>>
>>34304235
They're both too sensible, either the Conservators would shoot them out of the cosmos for being xenos in small numbers that aren't the nearby Eldar or they'd leave each other alone and pretend they didn't notice anything.
I...guess a warp storm could cause a Tau ship to get lost? Warp storms are basically just wizards making the plot though.

Now, Conservators could meet Tau outside of the March, perhaps on a gene debt. The Ultras get around enough, and with the 'Nids in the way returning is pretty damn tough at times. In a way, it would be more interesting to have two Chapters interacting with the Tau to compare and react off each other.
>>
>>34304330
Why would they ever need to encounter the Tau?
>>
>>34304486
Because some people want to know what would happen? I'm fine with them being entirely unknowing of some xeno planets across the galaxy somewhere that are due to be chaosed or soace-locust'd to death any time now, myself.
>>
>>34304486
This.
Don't force plot. It's like a self insert meeting every important character in a fanfic. If it is extremely unlikely, don't make a point of making it happen.

A company could bring back tales of Tau, like >>34304330
, a multi-xeno army of impressive technologies but squishy skulls. But seems unlikely they'd ever make a habit of facing them.
>>

What are the origins of the other relic, the zweihander?
Belonging to a symphonic undying legend aside.

Unsure as of yet.

The Champion's gear was gifted from the Salamanders.

It's not yet established where the Questor's traditional wargear came from.

The Storm Wardens prefer melee weapons, after strike cruisers soften enemy positions and they get up close via transports. In fact, pretty much all Storm Wardens carry a claymore given to them by their tribe when they begin their initiation as a space marine. They aren't powered, I believe, but they do have a penchant for weapons of the type.

Something I've been kicking around for a while.

Imperial Knights.

You know, the giant stompy death robots? Well their fluff has them hailing from medieval tech agri worlds intended to feed forge worlds. Which sounds like a very familiar description of the March.

Having Knights on their side would go a long way to making up for the deficiency of armored vehicles, and it would be another unique but effective factor to add to their unorthodox fighting stye.

Instead of starting out with them, perhaps they fight on some Knight worlds that have been overrun, and the now landless Knights follow them back to the March because it's similar to their homeland?
>>

It's a good thing you weren't asking what they were called. Half of everything in 40k is basically this.
>>
>>34314232
They generally supply forge worlds because they provide servicing. It takea a lot to keep a miny titan in repair.
>>
>>34314232
Kind of goes against the flavour of having them be massively under suplied and finding low-tech answers to the problems of the Far Future.
>>
>>34314232
I dunno. Imperial knights are pretty much always associated with Titans/Titan worlds. A bit shady to give them to the poorest chapter in the universe. If maintaining a land raider is difficult for the chapter, maintaining a squad of miniature titans is going to be pretty tricky.

It's a Mk 6 suit left over from the time of founding.

We could run the Mechanicus as trying to set up Knight Worlds to choke of what little the Conservators can muster from the industrial base of their planets in a power play.
>>
>>34321261
Wouldn't work.

There is nothing in the Asharn March that they would want or need or at least nothing worth the trouble of going that far and expending so much to get.

And if they did gos so far as to do want look more like it would only end in one of two ways sooner or later.

Either the Mechanicus would have to leave or the Conservators kill them.

No way the Conservators would give up their only chance of fulfilling their original mission, the stain on their soul would be too great to bear. If the Mechanicus and Conservators go to all out war the Conservators die.

As it is the Mechanicus would wait for the chapter to die. After all, who ever heard of a chapter surviving after being totally cut off from tech-support? It will happen eventually, they would think. Just a few hundred years at the most. If they know of the Conservator's great plan then they think it would never work and laugh heartily at the foolishness of barbarians.

By the time they realize the plan could work is when its too late to stop it because by that point the Conservators will have landed on Chiron in full force sometime between 200 and 250 of M42.

All in all the minor forge world was the only reason for the Mechanicus to care about the Asharn March and that has gone.
>>
For the Knights, I was thinking having them be slightly in the future, and not be part of the general storytelling.

The Conservators aren't just the poorest chapter in the universe, they're a chapter on the rise. So while their path may be fraught with peril and hardship, they will rise back to greatness, but they will take a very unconventional form when they get there.
>>
>>34321612
Well, remember that there are Knights aligned with the Imperium rather than the Mechanicus.

As for the explanation of why they are there, I was thinking that their world or worlds were devastated by a terrible foe, perhaps Tyranids, and rendered uninhabitable. The Conservators were there and because of their efforts in slowing the tide, large numbers of civilians managed to make it out alive.

The Conservators offered the refuges a home, and their Knight protectors went with them to the March.

Just the rough idea.

Every few years at least one bulk cargo hauler of House Mackyntire comes along to trade bulk food stuffs for things.

They would be able to get a lift back to the Imperium.

They would have such stories to tell their brothers upon their return. Tales of a world where astartes walk like men and live almost peaceful lives. The brewing of drink seems to be a big part of the Asharn March culture. It is not what it sounds like.

Given the increased size of the cities due to the onset of the first phase of an industrial revolution in many regions the water is sometimes too foul to drink safely. This is only a temporary phase that the March is going through and in 100 years at the most water quality will probably be back to normal. But at he moment inner city areas have a problem.

Brewing is the easiest way to clean large quantities of water before drinking. Most of the beer is too weak for even the most white livered of humans to get drunk from but is safe and tastes nice.

Since its popularity in the cities the hobby of brewing has spread almost everywhere.

The chapter does know how to brew 100% pure, or near as damn it, alcohol to fuel their machinery and make sterilizing agents for battlefield injuries and civilian hospitals but gently tries to discourage the populace from taking up hard drinking for their own well being.

Point is that nearly everyone seems to brew but alcoholism is astonishingly low despite this.

This sounds good, most of it isn't so powerful to get drunk with in anything but excess drinking, but it's safe to drink and tastes nice and is enough to take the edge off and let you relax.

And their brewing industry is an outgrowth of the alcohol distilleries that feed their medicinal growth and produces fuel for the vehicles, that same skill given by the Conservators spills over into making really nice drinks.

It has to be noted that the local tech-priests tend to be really light on the cybernetics. The ones with cybernetics are almost always immigrants from Beyond The Fields We Know.

The prospect of going to the Asharn March is attractive to some tech-priests and priestesses. Maybe they disagree with some philosophical point with the high ups, maybe they want to get promoted for their skills and talents but don't want to start shedding meat parts, maybe they are members of an unpopular sect, were caught making love to the magus' daughter, decided to get married and start a family or the high ups just don't like them. Skilled craftsmen of the Omnissiah are always welcome in the Reach.

The chapter encourages them to come along, gives them a job and treats them fairly.

Also the chapter likes to help themselves to their cybernetics when they die, cybernetics are worth their weight in gold out in the March.

I don't see this happening to be honest. The sisters would probably be fairly okay with the chapter if for no other reason than they don't get ideas above their station and don't impose the Chapter Cult on their citizenry.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying they would be best friends or even good friends at all. But they would be, at the very least, no more strongly disapproved of than any other chapter.

Nah, it's Alpha Legion Propaganda (or Marines Malevolent One).

When the Sisters arrived, they were transfixed by the sight of little children dancing around maypoles that had perfectly looking images of the Emperor on the tops.

It was said that the Sisters had good chemistry with the Conservators and the people of the March.

This seems about right.

the only issue is that the Conservators, and by some extension the March, are not the most devout of people. Or rather not the most obviously devout.

They don't build massive cathedrals everywhere, because it's more practical to build forts to keep the orks at bay. They have large temples and churches and shrines of course, but they're not overly gaudy.

The Conservators themselves don't enforce any single type of faith in their ranks. This is partly due to being made up of so many from different worlds, who each cling to their own belief system and way of venerating the Emperor.

It's also partly because they couldn't be bothered to set anything up when they were rebuilding their chapter, it wasn't exactly priority #1.
>>
>>34323733
The most common religious practice in the March seems to be almost like the Quakers.
Quiet contemplation and quiet houses away from the tipsy populace to think about the Emperor and thank him for good luck or request guidance. I think pretty much every town has a 'chapel' to the Emperor, but it usually ends up as a small community room that occasionally gets used in townwide events that contains basically some chairs lying around in a rough circle and a picture of the Emperor on the wall. Maybe the Aquila on the door or something denoting it as a quiet house.
Some towns have a recognised Speaker who may or may not have another job, who will read aloud some religious text or get them to sing a song every week to help focus the community, but some just generally have people who dust and tidy the chapel and keep it ready for anyone to walk off the street and meditate/pray. According to Wikipedia, these are called Programmed Worship and Unprogrammed Worship respectively.
Visiting Imperials may well colonise the chapel, turn the chairs to a more conventional pew arrangement and get some hardcore worshiping down, but the March seems a bit more quiet about the whole thing. Though not necessarily less devout.
>>
Had an idea while thinking of the comparisons of the potential future Asharn March and Ultramar. Mostly about how Ultramar and the Ultramarines are so similar. Asharn March and Conservators aren't necessarily obviously linked if you don't know. It got me thinking, playing with words y'know? And I came up with something, that I thought was fairly cool.

In that potential future of the March; with it's new Order of Knights, grumbling but strong links to the Adeptus Mechanicus and Administratum due to the presence of a fortified Forge World... the Conservators naturally spawn a new type of troop, named after the region they call home.
The Ashen Reapers. The natural continuation of the Scav Runs made by the Chapter, despite their no longer pressing need for new supplies. Appearing after the flames of war have died down and naught but ash remains, they put down any resistance that remains and Harvest or Reap the battlefield; reclaiming any downed Wargear or geneseeds missed by the Apothecaries. Their duty is a solemn one, to forbid any loss of strength of the Imperium that can be avoided
Naturally they are not seen with any great respect by members of the Imperium and seen as honorless looters, but their duty is a vital one.

The force having great numbers of Techpriest and Apothecaries with Marine escorts, they become a somewhat common sight after great battles, their ships diving in and stripping the site of hardware before moving on either due to all matériel taken or the foe returning to the battlesite in force. All is taken back to Chiron IV and returned to fighting condition and traded or gifted back to the Chapter or IG army that lost the wargear.
Clad in grey to deny them the honor or glory of the battle they salvage, trimmed with the bronze of the Conservators as is their duty to Conserve the Imperium and Mankind. They have a friendly rivalry with the Blood Ravens, both trying to recover the most salvagable wargear in the shortest amount of time.
>>
>>34323945
They may have larger churches in larger towns. The capital cities of each planet however have one and only one cathedral. Each of them are made out of unique rocks. Some being marble white. Other being slightly pinkish than the latter, while some are onyx black.

Combined with the spaciousness of theirs, and the beautifully crafted elements from the small statues to the stained glass and many more, would make even a ultra-monodominant feel incredibly small.
>>
>>34323998
Seems reasonable. If they want resources diverted to making knights, they best recycle an equivalent amount of resources. At some point it must be profitable or the noble's standard practice.
>>
>>34324079
I'm not sure about the name.

I wanted an Ash pun basically. Ash Warriors are already a thing in DA, and they didn't really fight.
So I got the idea about the "fires of war leaving only ash" and ran with it. Went for Reapers because well, they sort of Reap the battlefield of it's crop? 40k certainly has enough reapers another name can slot into the grimdark far future. Plus it'd be sort of amusing for other longer lived Chapters to have to go to Lost and Found on Chiron IV...
>"Oh, this is YOUR power armour is it?"
"Yes.. it has our colours and ident codes"
>"Really? Well I *am* surprised! From what I saw of the battlefield, there was some rather poor tactics used. Standard Codex, but.."
"Look, can I just get the armour and leave? We need it for the Neophytes."

This is all going to be after ~250M42 or whenever they get the forgeworld back.

As it is they have trouble getting around the March, 4 ships patrolling 6 inhabited worlds, and require outside intervention to leave it.

Also given how hard it is to move around it is reasonable to assume that each company is fairly autonomous.

I can also seriously see each company maintaining a cadre of Veteran Scouts. Hard bitten, sneaky as fuck, old badasses. Given their tendency to stay out of the fray they also tend to be the older members of the chapter who have seen everything and done everything, often cynical but often very knowledgeable. It is from these grumpy old men that the youngest first learn from.
>>
>>34324340
Yup yup. All future prediction.

I like the Scouts too, considering how few suits the Conservators have, Scouts likely have a larger impact on the Chapter than most. Even those that should be clad in armor and sent out may not be due to lack of resources, and instead become Veteran Scouts.

I was thinking more that after they receive their power armour they go back to being scouts because either they feel more at peace in that role or they only made mediocre rank and file marine but excellent scouts.

The chapter needs good scouts and you just can't trust some missions to the young. When you have to assassinate a warboss in the middle of his camp in the dead of night without anyone noticing you need someone with 250 years of experience rather than just 10. Also you need someone who knows what they are doing, and everyone knows they know what they are doing and enjoys the confidence of the whole chapter in this matter, to teach the young.

Thinking of the companies:
Sarsoo, whichever company is the most aquatic should have something fisherman-y, like a bident.

Dusenakt, spears are a common bronze age weapon. Plus they could double as farm tools to collect high up fruit and bird eggs.

Dekara, variations on giant swords. Zwei, bastard, claymore, etc.

Amakahd, long axes?

Blood-Tree, hell if I know. There was an old xeno-biology miniseries I remember, showed a world where all the trees were red and actually animals. Unrelated to weapons, but I think it would be sweet if they actively 'ate' ork corpses. Also scream when attacked, so lack of wood products on planet.

What kind of specialty marines do the various planets create? What minor differences are there? What is Imperial Worship like on the planets?

I'll have a go at it.

>Dusenatk
>This planet has a single massive desert across the tropics and equator, with shallow polar seas filled with poisonous sea life. Large orchards provide the bulk of the planet's export.
Imperial worship was more tribal when the Marines arrived. More warrior-culture most likely, invoking the Emperor in battle more then Dekara; the inhabitants putting the Aquila on their arms and armor. And their arms. Their eagle-analogues are somewhat sacred as a sign of the Emperor, as they generally either believe He watches through them, or they tell him what they saw every sundown. The inhabitants have regular competitions of martial prowess to prove themselves in the eyes of the Emperor, usually before a large carving of the Aquila. Nowadays, a high ranking Conservator will often also be present at larger competitions.

>Amakahd
>Excessively cold and a higher than average gravity. Home of the Rhinokeros (or locally "Tumults"). The bamboo analogue contains bamboo and is eaten by the Rhinos. Winter lasts three years, summer one.
Less warfare focussed, the citizens of Amakahd dedicate themselves to surviving the deadly cycles of their planet. Here the Emperor is seen as a life-giver, and much stock is put on the Halo seen in images of Him, which is echoed in some twinned solar worship by the citizens.
The Emperor is seen as watching over all voyages great and small, and so all doorways leading outside have a symbol of the Emperor. Usually a stylised head and halo, but occasionally he can be seen on a throne. This is in hope that he will watch them as they travel, possibly as a callback to the first travellers to the planet hoping the Emperor would watch them in the depths of space.

>1/4
>>
>>34326326>Endurance
>Sparcely populated, a high gravity world with large tectonic activity and thus volcanic, resulting in large amounts of ash and poisonous material in the ground and soil.
Imperial Worship has managed to evolve fairly normally compared to the rest of the Imperium on Endurance. "Emperor in his throne of Gold and Iron" is used as a blessing and oath occasionally. Some minor deviation existed and still persists, of course. Before the marines arrived, they believed Leman Russ was an actual wolf for instance, Dorn to be an automaton, and entirely forgetting about the Founding. Soon corrected on the details they had forgotten, they respect snippets of information of Imperial Worship greatly.
This is most likely due to the belief held that the planet's harsh environment was a test by the Emperor, who would one day take them to "Sail between the stars". The arrival of the Marines vindicated this belief and thus Imperial Worship brought by Conservator veterans has grown in strength. Interestingly, Endurance provides an unsually high proportion of battle-strength psykers to the Conservators.

2/4 (I hope 4. Might have messed up.)
>>
>>34326350
>Dekara
>Mountainous, with many rare heavy metals and a large population; Dekara is the capital of the March with large crop fields sprawling over the flat terrain in great numbers.
Dekara hosts the main faction of the Imperial Cult, with a relatively quiet belief system the encourages meditation and silent prayer in the small lightly decorated and furnished chapels dotted across the towns of the planet. Celebrations are made in His name on regular holy days, with more vocal supporters coming out around these times, but usually silent thanks and prayer are made within the chapels at semi-regular intervals. The focus is on a more direct connection between Emperor and Man without any unneeded trappings getting in the way. Something that effects the Conservators in a myriad ways today.
Some chapels boast a permanent Speaker who will regularly recite texts and guide the local populace's worship. Some comparisons can be made to the Quakers of ancient Terra.
Over half of the March and the Conservators follow this belief system.

>3/5 (Yeah, I messed up.)
>>
>>34326371
>Sarsoo
>A lighter than Terra world, with large seas and large swamps and forests. Populated by many large amphibians. The human inhabitants are unusually pale.
Sarsoo possesses a rather unusual form of the Imperial Cult. Instead of merely worshipping the Emperor, the populace raise the Primarchs to a comparable level. " For Him and his Sons" is far more common than "In His name". Perhaps due to the importance of the Son and Father in Sarsoo culture; with the deeds, sins and status and even name passing directly from one generation to the next. Thus the 20 Sons of the Emperor are seen as continuations of Him, and yet the Emperor does still live or they would BE Him. Traitor Sons are to be condemned, for they are whatever darkness the Emperor held. For a God of Men such as he must have held great potential for both Good and Evil. Thus the destruction of Chaos would be in effect, purifying the Emperor and leaving but the Sons that embodied the noble traits to survive and continue his spirit. Odd, but still obeying the core Imperial Creed. Actual worship is similar in essence to the Dekaran style, though Speakers are the norm and much emphasis is on the Emperor's will to progress Humanity through Science.

>4/5
>>
>>34326393
>Blood-Tree
>A world with ancient bioengineered tree life, able to radio- and thermo-synthesize. Twinned with another, inhospitable, planet that results in extreme tides. Much of the civilisation is focussed on the shores of a warm temperate/tropic sea similar to the Mediterranean.
Blood-Tree possesses the dubious "honor" of being one of the last places where a direct theological descendant of the Confederation of Light is known to have existed, a heretical Imperial Cult advocating Poverty and Humility. Fortunately for the Marines of the Conservators, such Heresy had already been long abandoned by the citizenry and Imperial Worship resumed more according the sanctioned Imperial Cult. Blood-Tree worship is focused on their holy site of Thale, believed to be the first place Humanity stood on Blood-Tree.
Worship on Blood-Tree is often expressed through hymns and choral singing, supposedly to try and reach the Emperor through space with the expression of beauty and song. Musical talent is lauded and seen as directly religious. To be musically gifted is to be blessed by the Emperor. Marines from Blood-Tree often like to sing battle-hymns when going into battle, and often become the Bards of the Conservators, chanting or singing the deeds of the Chapter, Company or Squad as they charge an enemy's ranks.

One of the planets must have had dickish nobility. I could see an overthrow when a company takes a little too much power away from them, since they might have hard feelings spilling over into their founding and growth.
How much damage could a bunch of royal brats do to a fledgeling company? Any repercussions in the long run, besides a shortage of knights?
>>
>>34326859
It'd be most likely Blood-Tree. Most of the not!Mediterranean countries are a little pissy about the other countries getting uplifted as fast as they are.
>>
>>34325205
Sarsoo has some Chinese-inspired large blades for sure.
Dusenakt could be cool to be spear/glaive-focussed. Especially if now they have to deal with Orks finding their tunnels.
I'd guess Amakahd and Blood-Tree both go for something on the line of sword. Although Blood-Tree might lean towards lightly curved swords for the same reason cutlasses are good on ships, you don't want to tangle your blade.
Endurance might have more mace and warhammer users? Smacking someone down in a high-gravity world can seriously fuck someone over.

Of course, these would just be averages. It's just as likely a Dekara-sourced Marine likes the halberd and a Sarsoo one takes an zweihander. There's at least one Dekaran Marine who favors an oversized Rapier.
Plus as was remarked on in the last thread, the majority of them go for a thick simple sword. Maybe with a curve, usually not. Swords are simple, and can both crush and cut.The sort of thing a Marine can use to it's best potential against heavily armored Orks.
>>
Query. And that goes for any swordfags listening.

How accurate and powerful is an Astartes with a sling and some regular ball bearings? Is it a viable extra to give them because hey, it's goddamn cheap or is it just so pathetic they'd be better off clubbing Orks to death with a bolt pistol?

I didn't even think of it until after I'd typed it basically. I wanted one to respect the Emperor and Primarchs as a single unit, and the whole.. Passing of the Father's spirit to the firstborn Son just happened.
Which is why the Emperor is special again. He had 20 Firstborns at once. Without a lady involved.
That's fucking manly, he couldn't pass himself down once, but could only manage 20ths.

Also, I wasn't terribly clear, but Sarsoo is very clear the Emperor is still alive, otherwise that spirit would have occupied all his Sons. So he's still alive and the spirit is intact because the Primarchs haven't become mini-Emperors.
They'd probably cause any Ecclisarchy census takers a headache. But the Creed and spirit is still there, and they're being watched by a Chapter so fuck it, close enough.

So, for 'future' fully established fighting forces, here's the basic idea.

Those making the codex should listen up.

Basically the Conservators will still be a weaker chapter of pure space marines, with limited access to a lot of heavy weapons and specialized vehicles. However, they will have access to the aforementioned psykers, as well as what is essentially Imperial Guard units to fight at their side.

These units, since Guard gear is more common and easily obtained, will eventually have full guardsman kit, as well as vehicles like tanks and such. Old gear will still be common, so hello Malcador tanks.

Also Imperial Knights because they saved their bacon at one point.

So with all those together, they should be pretty balanced with other forces, they are weak in some areas, but that weakness led to strengths in others.
>>
>>34330919
Lots of people, lots of melee, lots of sneaking, possibly lots of shields, but most have only bolters. They are damn accurate with them, but it's still just a bolter.
>>
>>34331025
Don't forget glorious Knightly fun and making every Spess MAREENE feel human feels and of course a wonderful story of the First Conservator to kick a Damon Princes shit in or something.

Oh, and Blood rahvens LETS SEE WHO CAN STEAL THE MOST SHIT FROM TRAYVON THE INFINITE Races
>>
>>34331164
Where would they even encounter a daemon..
demon,
damon,
deadly hellish shitlord.
Is there achart showing what the spelling is for each genre? Ork orc urukh is easy enough, but the demons are delirious.

None of their territory is has signs of chaos, they keep the psykers under control, and I doubt any chapter they tag along with would let them take the glory of spearheading an assault on chaos.
Maybe there is another human world in the veil, relatively near but not associated with the March. An example of a not following the imperial cult, where blood sacrifice started the second the ships stopped coming. The Conservators would get their first taste of true grimdark on this world, making their noblebright kingdom all that dearer to them. There is nobody to save, only those who haven't been slain.

I dub it Áfall
Quick Icelandic for tarnish
>>
>>34330919
Working on the codex, but be a week till I have net access on my computer.

Idea floating in my head... they have a group of special "relic" units. One relic unit per primary detachment, but the relics are buffed versions of units they lose access to. Cost more and all that. Losing them gives up victory points or something.

Represents taking the salamanders predator into the field, or Arthur the dreadnought.
>>
>>34330919
No Malcadors on ebay, only the Valdor tank hunter variant. That is daaang old.
On another note, a space marine sized two-hander is also hard to track down.
>>
>>34331480
Given that their kingdom is full of hope it probably looks delicious to slaanesh. Also the fact that they are one of the least warmongering chapters in imperial history probably posses khorne right off.

There could be cults on their homeworlds. Given the Conservators love for their people it would make putting the rebellion down all the more bitter.
>>
>>34334347
Remedied the big sword issue, found a legion praetor's paragon sword. If that isn't a relic-y 'holy-as-the-emperors-shit blade I don't know what is.

>>34334963
That first generation is going to have it rough. First their towns are burned by orcs, then they outlive their families, then they have to possibly put down descendants as chaos weedles its way in.

That's why I said that.

Magnus is literally an Oni, he's got the size strength, red skin and sad feels story to boot, not to mention he literally has the same red yellow contrast most Oni are depicted as having, and has a nigh uncanny resemblance to the fire Giants in NWN1
>>
>>34338292
Right. He was a magical Oni with one eye.

On the other hand I do wonder if the Conservators ever experienced fighting Thousand Sons or Chaos Marines in general? They would terminate heretics from time to time, but Chaos Marines are a whole different story.

Pic. completely, totally and utterly unrelated. Consider it Chaos propaganda.
>>
This thread needs to be archived... like now. I'm on my phone, so could some other annon get it done? Thabk one of you in advance.

Chaos is gets into everything. They'll have to fight them eventually.
Tzeentch and possibly Slaanesh are the most likely to interfere with the March.. But you never know.
Also putting down cultists they thought friends is gloriously grimdark. Well done Anons.

>>34332197
Makes sense. They're the ones with veteran power armor, which is actually good AND old and well taken care of. So standard marine level.

I think all the Chaos Gods would be interested to some point with the Marches.

The least would be Khorne.
>>
>>34339531
Tzneetch and Khorne would be the big two interested. The first because it's a hopeful place to live and the second because it's been at constant genocidal war with the works for as long as Anyone can remember.

Slaanesh would be third on the list because of all the new experiences rapid development brings.

Nurgle would be least interested or interesting to this patch of space.
>>
>>34339806
I dunno. I Khorne Berserkers landed on one of their planets, then the first thing they'd do is not slaughter people, but be stupefied on how peaceful it is.
>>
>>34339806
>Medevil tier world
>Not the best place to live out he stagnation and nostalgia of the black plauge

That'd be a Nurgle holiday spot If I ever heard it, after he notices it of course.
>>
>>34340814
And then the Knights and the people of the March would have to band together forming Flame Guard squads armed in flamers to burn the dead from coming back.
>>
>>34340917
Pretty much, it'd have to involve multiple scouting parties to find afflicted areas and a large removal of resources to do so, namely crop and the like causing famine, but I suppose the co-operative effort could resolve the crisis before it gets too out of hand.

Their next objective would be to find out where it started, so I'm thinking a cess pit, refuse pit or swamp.
>>
>>34340960
A swamp where Nurgle's daemons and followers sit around a enormous lump of glowing flesh and play chaos banjos and drink over-fermented beer.
>>
>>34340995
Or a small cabalt of Blair witch tier Cultists that fuck with everyone.

And who raise zombies and have a Plague Bearer as a sponsor.
>>
>>34341058
Probably the nasty little spawn that came from the rot in the first place.
>>
>>34341077
Highly probable. Also the swamp where they live has bizarre rotting fungal growths and Nurgle Toads lurking in the waters.
>>
>>34341112
Hallucinogenic gases and corrosive gases actually, there wouldn't be many enemies to encounter, and the majority of the conflict would revolve around the ones that lacked the equipment getting all kinds of messed up.

Marines would clearly fare better, because extra anti-poison organs, but first time for everything to the rookies.

They'd probably patch togther what was going on and come up with a system so that they didn't get lost or end up vulverable to traps and the like placed in the swamp.
>>
>>34341155
Fair enough. Plus the toads would be kinda OP if they were in large numbers.
>>
>>34341155
Reminds me of playing Metro: Last Light. Swampy area with poisonous air, necessitating air filters, low tech MacGyvered weaponry and giant creepy fauna to shoot madly and ask WHY WON'T YOU DIE?
Glad I got the hang of how to deal with them after a while.
>>
>>34341191
Yeah, namely the clean-up event they're be a small detachment as part of a largre group sent to investigate individual areas where they believe the source to be from, but it was initially intended to be a scouting mission and the ones that are in the swamp pretty much realize they can't leave until they've purged the enemy because it's fucking with them and their perception making it look like they can't leave, so it's a small party braving the place to kill the plague source.

They'd loose a few, and morale would be an issue but when they get to the main house they'd be able to radio in for air support or some other form of assistance to turn the tide of the battle.

It'd be a good story, especially with the horror elements at the end.

they were filled with the ancient spirit of a long-lost craftsman, a man of infinite wisdom and fervor. his name was KALISHNIKOV
immediately the PDF went on a spontaneous crusade to a nearby system, driven by an insatiable force deep within their souls. there they discovered a dark eldar settlement, kayye' bahb. filled with the ancient rage of an angry 20th century russian and several pints of potato-based alcohol, they proceeded to brutally annihilate the dark eldar with extreme prejudice.
their current doings are unknown, but the word has spread throughout the imperium of the brave actions the PDF displayed, giving them an honorary title of "defenders of the imperium" by the ecclesiarchy.

Did we ever get any details about how they got the champion armour?

So far all we know is Mk 8 Errant Armour (mostly. It had to be repaired with some Mk 7 parts one time) with wrist mounted bolster, power sword and storm shield. Also by far the best suit in the whole chapter.

We know it was given to them by the Salamaders or a successor of theirs for some great service.

Anything else?
>>
>>34347225
*wrist mounted bolter.

Autocorrect again.
>>
>>34347225
That's about all we got right there.
I could see them being mightily impressed if the Conservators had a standoff with one of the rougher chapeters. These rust eeze coated, hardly armed, miss matched figures standing between the Marines Malevolent and artillery they plan on using on an un-evacuated city.
Salamanders pop in right before it gets bad.
>>
>>34347407
I would stay away from having a well known chapter be the antagonists. It makes it tacky and "my chapter could beat up your chapter" ish.

Have them be one of the no-fluff GW placeholder chapters of Iron Hands lineage. A chapter with all the toys but at the expense of their humanity, the opposite of the Conservators.
>>
>>34347612
Non-Imperial forces might be better? Delfs allow for them to fight some unambiguously bad antagonists with high tech shizwhaz out the wazoo.
>>
>>34347765
I meant the asshole marines they were standing up against.

Although having the Dark Eldar being the uncovering force invitee city works well. It gives the Conservators something besides works to fight, highlights the difference between their xeno allies an xeno enemies and makes them aware of it acutely and also the ancestral hate between the children of Vulkan an the Dark Eldar.

I'm imagining a squad of Iron Claws, or whatever, in full battle plate trying to intimidate, threaten and physically move one of the Veteran Scouts.

Veteran Scout refuses to move and takes a shell of a beating before the Iron Claw sergeant gets his legs broken by a Promethian hammer.
>>
>>34348023
Autocorrect, what the Hell are you doing to me.
>>
>>34348023
...yes.. And I was saying they don't need to be against any Imperial force at all. At least one of us is misunderstanding the other here.
>>
>>34347225
I keep saying it's Mk IV Maximus armor. Everyone else says it's brand new Mk 8 armor. Personally I think the 4 looks much nicer and it's an actual relic set.

Also I'm back by the way.
>>
>>34348836
I'm siding with the 8s. It seems like something a wealthy chapter would gift in lieu of a relic, and is the only way I see them taking down a demon with nary a purity seal amongst them.

They may have a maximus set as well. Theres the champ's armor then theres the chapter master's.
>>
>>34348836
I like the MK IV better too, the MK 8 is just an upgrade to the MK 7 pattern and not really that impressive even compared to the MK 6. And if it really did come from the Salamanders I could see them gifting it for a significant act on the Conservators end. But it would have to be something that really got their attention, something big.
>>
>>34349014
>>34349405
There was a reason why Horus wanted the Traitor Legions to have a lot of Maximuses. The damn thing had some nifty systems that made it superior to future armours (except for Beakies).
>>
>>34349671
It doesn't have to be pristine. It could be beat up, but repaired with MK 6 and MK 7 pieces. It is still better than most armor marks but will never be able to return to full MK 4 capability.
>>
So, what's Mackyntire's angle? He's gotten the trade agreements down, well done him. Guarenteed quail on the table.
So what's his next aim? Where's he going with this? He has a Chapter's backing, where does he go now?

A third party connected to the March is pretty interesting. Does he have to fight other Traders trying to muscle in on his market?
>>
>>34352126
I do not expect the March is a popular region for traders, backed by the veil and a tad close to Eldar and Tyranids.

Considering the Mechanicus gave the region the middle finger, he could worm his way into stewardship of the forge world. It is certainly the Conservator's, but the material to fix the planet is certainly his.
>>
>>34352126
Well... probably using the marines to explain weird ventures. Stuff the inquisition might look in on.
>so we think this tomb complex on a death world might house ancient archotech. We want to go exploring.
Inquesition redtapes it and sends in their own teams.
>Hey, this squad of space marines want to go on a mission to cleanse a xeno menace on a death world.
Inqusition sends them a few boxes of bolter rounds, and a note of safe conduct.

Hell, they might even get an ataboy for initiative.

Basically, Makantire gets to hide behind their onboard marines massive free pass from everyone.

Does more need to be said about each captain and company or should it be left intentionally vague?

I intend to write something as soon as I get home and can use the computer instead of phone. If thread has expired it will be put on the 1d4chan page.
>>
>>34360246
Nah, too much about each company and captain makes it difficult to expand and writers tend to get really attached to characters. The bickering tripfags who spent threads wanking over the captains they created killed the momentum and progress of the Star Krakens.

Have to say, the Star Krakens were kinda nice. I worked with the anons there on them, but now when I look at it, they were all actually complete. But then that one group appeared and said that they were Mary Sues and baited us horribly. Also now that I realized it since back then, the people should've firstly flesh out the systems and the Chapter itself, not do everything simultaneously.

I realized that and learned that before you go around creating more detailed stuff, do the basics.

I'm pretty sure there are gene-stealer cults.

The problem is that they don't show up as anything but psychic static until the Patriarch emerges and starts shitting Warp Beacon all over the place.

Once that happens every psyker on the planet and those on some of the closer ones freak the fuck out.

Plate and steel swords in the hands of mortals don't do a great deal to pure-strains and it takes an entire company and possibly more to stamp the cult down. Given how isolated each world is it could be months before help arrives and by that time they could have alerted a Hive Fleet.

Hive Fleet is the game over for the Conservators.

Unless they get help from outside the Hive Fleet will kill them all and barely slow down.

Gene-stealer cults are a big fucking problem. If one goes critical they can't stop it.

This becomes a particular problem when they start breeding with orks to form Bug Boyz and 'Ard Shell Gitz.

And even when they are exterminated you can never be sure they are all gone. A few generations down the line and you could have pure-strains again.

I'm now imagining a Marine, one centuries old, being forced to kill some of his descendants. feels grim, man. Feels grim.
>>
>>34368607
It may be grim, but necessary. I can imagine something akin to a Deathwatch style order in the March that specializes in xenos and supernatural. Bonus if it is ran by a couple of retired Inquisitors who are actually levelheaded.

>>
>>34368958
Some Acolytes can go and retire when they had enough going along with the Inquisitor.

Maybe said Arbite worked along a Inquisitor or Inquisitors and saw some crazy shit during that time.

Maybe not only retired Arbites, but people who worked with or for the Inquisition come to the March seeing it as a place where they can live out the rest of their lives peacefully...if it wasn't for the enemies within.

Chaos, xenos...those incidents are small, but seeing that shit will one day hit the fan if the Conservators won't handle it, they share their wisdom and experience with the younger generations in order for the people and marines to fight them better.

This way their experience will live on with the new generations and can die peacefully.

The chapter is finished. A completed project. A fully fleshed out chapter with a distinct and pleasing flavour.

It has character, history, potential future and fits the setting.

We have had writefags grace us with their works and drawfags make us heraldry and good ideas on top of good ideas and all of it fits together. It is whimsical and fun where it should be whimsical and fun and bitter and defiant where it should be bitter and defiant.

But I think its winding down now.
