May 25th, 2018. It's a Friday, you think. Maybe a Thursday. It doesn't matter, though.

The sun is setting, and the buildings cast long shadows that darken the streets. You stand before a long, tall, metal ship whose bow stretches out to you. You cannot see the deck from where you stand on the stage, but you can certainly see some of the metal gun ports running along the sides and the ladder leading up.

“I believe,” LastDerogation says, “You should do the honors, Ambrosis.” You look to your right to see the guild leader thrust a bottle of champagne into your hands. You grasp the neck of the bottle and focus on the front of the ship again.

You pull your arm back and begin to swing, but a cough breaks your concentration. You look left and right. No one seems to want your attention, so you wind up again.

Another cough.

You look left.

You look right.

Then you look down. Lilac seems to want your attention.

“Yes?” You ask the dwarf.

“Traditionally...” Lilac says, looking up to you, “Women christen ships.”

You look down the the bottle in your hand, then back to Lilac. “Even in America?”

“It's specifically American.” She explains, “Most countries use religious figures or royalty to bless the ships. We use important or pretty ladies.”

You look back to the bottle. Who are you to stand in the way of tradition?

[ ] Mother fucking Anthony Grant, leader of the 1st Panzer Division, that's who! Christen the ship yourself.
[ ] Hand the bottle to Lilac. She designed the thing, that's pretty important.
[ ] Hand the bottle to Judicature. She can probably throw the bottle at some crazy angle and make this the most bad ass christening ever.

“Then we should both do the honor.” You respond.

“What?”

“We're both important cause we designed it, and you're a lady. I think. There's only one way to be sure.”

“Are you saying you want to check?”

“Only if you're offering.” You smile and point to her to denote you're only joking.

She remains silent for a while before saying, “I can't reach that far.”

“Huh!?” Did she just offer? Well, you could always kneel or-

“The ship.” She says, “I can't reach the ship.”

“Oh! Right.” That makes sense. Of course she meant to the ship! What the hell were you thinking!? Stupid things, that's what.

You wrap your hands around the sorceress and lift her up.

Lilac speaks, “I christen thee...!” She winds up the bottle like a bat and you swing your body, and her with it. Her arms unfurl and the bottle shatters on the iron hide. “Manifest Destiny!”

You shout, “Engineer pride world wide!”

The crowd cheered. It was made up of <49erS> workers and anyone who was curious about the land-ship. The ensemble on the stage also begins to applaud the event. The leader of the <49erS> then began to give a speech on the great feat that has been completed this day. You didn't really pay attention.

Lilac climbs up onto your shoulder and away from your grasp.“You know, I've always wanted to christen something I made.” She says.

“They didn't let you do that?” You reply.

She chuckles and looks down to you with a smile. “Well, electronic systems and explosives don't make good christening material. Turns out breaking wine bottles on them is dangerous.”

“Are you saying you tried it before?”

“No, no. I just thought about it from time to time.”

“Well, I'm glad I could help you with your dream.”

“I wouldn't say dream, more like strange want.”

“Then I'm glad I could help you with your strange want!”
>>
>>34192547
She gets a good chuckle out of that. “Some times you're too nice, you know that?”

“A man should always help people he cares about.”

She gives you a soft smile. “You should stop doing that before we do something we'll both regret.”

“What?” You respond. That seemed to come out of nowhere.

She hops down from your shoulder. “Nothing!” She says, “Just...” She shakes her head. “Forget I said anything.”

You give her a very confused look. The hell is she talking about.

Then Derogation unleashes a yell that breaks your thought process. “PARTY ON THE SHIP!”

Party on your ship!? You didn't authorize that! But then again, these guys had worked hard on this thing; they probably deserve a nice party on the thing they built.

The crowd began to chant, “PARTY PARTY PARTY PARTY PARTY!”

One by one they all began to climb up the ladder onto the deck of the ship. Barrels of liquor and beer flowed like fountains and Trove leads in song for everyone.

“Farwell and aideu to you Spanish ladies!

“Farewell and adieu to you ladies of Spain!

“We just received orders to sail for New England

“And we very soon hope to see you again!

“And we'll rant and we'll roar!

“Like good Yankee whale men!

“We'll rant and we'll roar!

“On deck and below!

“Until we sight Gay Head above Matha's Vineyard,

“Straight up the channel to New Bedford we'll roam!”

The workers and crew, and just about anyone off the street are all congregating with each other. You look around. You're not very good at parties; that more of Canis' thing, but you know how to keep yourself from being a wallflower, unlike your brother, and that's good enough.

“Tis a damn touch life,” Your pirate friend belts out, “Full of toil and strife,

“We whalermen undergo!”

You push through the crowd till you're at the edge of the open circle around Trove.

“And we don't give a damn when the day is done.”

You begin to let out loud claps to the beat. Soon the entire crowd joins in.

“How hard the winds did blow!

“Cause we're homeward bound from the artic round!

“With a good ship, taut and free!

“And we don't give a damn when we drink our rum,

“With the girls of Ol' Maui!”

This is the part you know, so you join in.

“Rollin' down to Ol' Maui, me boys!

“Rollin' down to Ol' Maui!

“We're homeward bound, from the artic round!

“Rollin' down to Ol' Maui!”

With the chorus complete, you go silent again.

“Once more we sail to a northerly gale,

“Towards our island home!

“Our main mast sprung, our whaling done,

“And we ain't got far to roam!

“Six hellish months we passed away,

“On the cold Kamchatka Sea,

“But now we're homeward bound from the artic round,

“Rollin' down to Ol' Maui!”

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pla7nDYciI4

The song goes on and soon every has their arms around each other's necks, shifting left and right to the beat of the song.

Everyone sings as hard as they can for the last chorus, which doesn't sound too terrible, but then again, you started drinking already, so your judgment probably isn't the best right now.

“Rollin' down to Ol' Maui, me boys!!

“Rollin' down to Ol' Maui!!

“We're homeward bound, from the artic round!!

“Rollin' down to Ol' Maaaaaaaaaaaaaauuuuuuuiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!!!”

Everyone begins to cheer and clap and whistle and yell.

You look to the guy you have your left and around. Some no guild who probably came up from off the street. Some wolf-hair that's a 50 Guardian/50 Mason named Edifice. You look to the guy you have on your right. Some half-alv 60 summoner/45 Tailor named Tarot. Both are without a guild.
>>
>>34194587
“Hey!” You say to the two, “How're you two likin' the party?”

“It's good!” Edifice shouts over the white noise crowd.

“We're no intrudin' or anything are we!?” Tarot adds.

“Nah!” You shout back, “The more the merrier! Anyone tell you otherwise, you throw them off my ship!”

“This is your ship!?” The mason asks, his surprise on his face.

“Hell yeah! I designed it and the <49erS> made if for me! It was my prize for winning the race!”

“Holy shit!” Tarot screams, “You're the guy!”

“I'm the guy!!” You respond.

“Wait right here!” The guardian says, “I need to introduce you to my friend!”

Soon a new person arrives, a human being lead by the wold-hair.

“This is my friend, Carnegie!” Edifice says, “He's a high school robotics teacher!”

Carnegie is a tall elf druid of level 50, with 50 levels in the Champion subclass. You've never heard of the subclass, but it certainly sounds fancy.

You shake his hand and say, “Nice to meet you!”

“Nice to meet you too!” He responds, “So, how'd you build this thing!? Whenever I tried to build things, the gears refused to touch! It's like the thing was made of two cow magnets facing the same pole!”

“The engineering subclass!” You respond, “My friend how helped design this ship had the same problem! Then she guessed that it might have something to do with the subclass! Turned out she was right!”
>>
>>34194609
“You're kidding me!” The teacher responds.

“Nope! That's all you need!”

“Well shit, I'd probably switch subclasses if I didn't like this title so much!”

“Is that Carnegie!?” You hear a familiar old man's voice shout.

You and the rest turn to the leader of the <Morning Star>, who has wasted no time wrapping his hands around the druid's hand. “I thought you retired!” He says.

“I did, but I heard of another new expansion coming out, and after so many years out of the game, I thought it'd be time for me to come back!”

“Well, I don't mean to cut into your conversation, but I have read every single one of your posts in the PvP forum and I reckon you could teach my guild a thing or two!”

The champion laughs, “Well, I've been away for so long I'm sure they'll have more to teach me than I do them!”

The cleric leads the the teacher away. Did Brimstone just steal a possible recruit from you?

Even if this is a quest about MMOs, poaching potential members still makes my blood boil.

But making a whole lotta drama about it usually doesn't help. Besides, Edifice is one of Carnegie's friends. If we get in good with him, Carnegie becomes easier to attain.

Other. We try to get the teacher dude to join friends list. I think the prospect of us trying to make spare parts for him to see how things go might be a great opportunity for both of us. He gives engineering advice on stuff whether or not Lilac suddenly changes her mind and we get a dood who teaches us how to make robot claws or creates experiments for us to try even if it's just some instructions every once in a bit.
At the very least it's a source of income since we need gear upgrades.

Fighting over one potential member when you have two right here is foolish. If a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush, then two in the hand it probably worth far more than one in the bush. Especially if the one in the bush is tied to on in the hand.

Or something like that. Metaphors were never your thing.

“So, you two aren't in a guild are you?” You ask.

“I haven't been on since vanilla,” Edifice explains, “And Tarot hasn't been on since the first expansion.”

“Then we come here for the...” Tarot says, “What is this, the tenth!?”

“The expansion wasn't out yet!” Edifice comments, “It was coming out in a few days!”

“I heard Japan got it already!”

“That wouldn't make any sense!” You interject, “They'd have to update all the servers with the new data, so why not just let us use it then!? I mean, I know I preordered the damn thing for my brother and then myself, so there's no reason to release it to others and then us! It's from an American company anyways!”

“Yeah, you're right!” Tarot responds, “It must have been some left over hate from those Final Fantasy MMOs!”

“Never played!” You say, “What were they like?”

“In short...!” Edifice explains, “The Japanese were like super gods of the game, and we Americans had to toil in the dirt!”

“Really?” You say.

“No, but it felt like it! It felt like they out did us at everything, and they always got their expansions a month ahead of us!”

“I heard...” Edifice says, “That they really just did it to get away from Americans for a month because we were just disruptive assholes in their eyes!”

“Were we actually being dicks or-?” You ask.

“Of course we were!” Tarot responds, “We're the well meaning dicks of the world! It's the American way!”

“We should invade Japan.” Edifice shouts suddenly. “That'll show them for flaunting their power in Final Fantasy Eleven!”
>>
>>34197145
“Are you crazy!?” Tarot shouts in response, “With how they play MMOs they probably all know the secret to food with taste and have flying laser-fortresses! We should be more worried about them invading us!”

Edifice adds, “We should go to Big Apple to find out how to make food with taste! Then we'll open up a shop to get enough money to buy enough land-ships to destroy all their laser fortresses!”

You feel this is a good time to speak, “Actually, we're heading for Big Apple soon. My brother knows the secret of how to make food with taste, and we'll be meeting with him soon, but I can't say he'd share the secret with non-guild members.”

“Please don't encourage him.” Tarot responds.

“Ignore him!” Edifice shouts, “Encourage me all you want! Just tell me the secret!”

You hold up your hands in a shrug. “I don't know it. My brother's the only person I know who does, but we'll meet with him soon enough. The crew for the ship isn't large enough, but if you want to travel with us to Big Apple, I'm sure you'll learn the secret sooner or later.” You pause, “Not to mention crazy things seem to just be attracted to me. We fought a level 89 monster from another server at one point, which we only killed with an item that's not supposed to be accessible by PCs.”

“With that kind of power, we could defeat the Japanese invasion force!” The mason says.

“Please stop.” The half-alv laments, “There is no Japanese invasion force.”

“That we know of!” The wolf-hair continues, “They could be off the shore of California right now!”

“So...” You interrupt, “If you guys want to join the crew you can join my guild or-”

“Anything to stop the Japaneses Invasion Force!” Edifice pauses. “What's that as an acronym? JIF? We must stop the JIF at all cost!”

“Let me introduce you two to everyone!” You say. You look around the crowded party and quickly realize that Trove is the obvious first choice. “This is Trove.” You motion over to the man you've been standing next to the entire time, “Trove! These two have just joined the guild and will be going with us to Big Apple.”

“Yarr!” The pirate responds, “It be nice to meet you!” He holds out a hand, which they both shake.

“So,” Tarot asks, “Do you always talk like a pirate?”

“Yarr! I do!”

“Why?” Asks Edifice.

“I don't be seein' why I shouldn't! Yarr!”

The two new members look to each other and shrug. They don't seem to have a reason for him not to.

“Trove's been with us since we left from South Angel.” You say, “In fact, everyone's been with us since then. You two are the only ones who haven't.” You ponder for a while before saying, “Anyways, we have more people for you two to meet! You'll have more time to talk with Trove and everyone after introductions, though!”

You lead the two through the crowded deck. You look around to see if you can spot any other guild members. That is when you notice the not-samurai standing around, not doing much. “Ta-!” You stop yourself. Talking to him would probably be a bad thing, now that you think about it. You turn away from him, trying to avoid his gaze. “Uh, let's see if we can find someone over here!” You say to the two. “Oh!” You say, having spotted someone in gold, “Judi!”

The duelist turns around to see you. “Did you know Carnegie's here!?” Is all she has to say as response.

“Yeah,” You say, “I talked to him a bit.” You motion to the two behind you, “These two are friends of his. They'll be going with us to Big Apple.”
>>
>>34199352
The cavalier's eyes widen as she looks at the two, “You two are his friends!? I- Uh- I...” She holds out a hand. “P-p-p-pleased to meet you. I-I-I'm Judi... Cature. Judicature! My name is Judicature! Well, not my name, my screen name! Do you think you can help me talk to Carnegie, not that I don't want to talk to you, but I've been trying to talk to him and I don't know how to get into the conversation. Why am I still talking!? I'm sorry!” She begins to scoot off from you three, but you grab her and truck her back over to the new two.

“So,” You say, “This is Judi. She's very shy and likes old, French movies.”

“Casablanca's not French...” She mutters.

“Okay, fine, old movies.”

“Judi, this is Tarot and Edifice. They'll be going with us to Big Apple.”

“Oh. Uhh...” She responds, holding out a hand.

Edifice is the first to shake her hand, “Nice to meet you, Judi. I'm Edifice, and this is my friend Tarot. You said you wanted to talk to Carnegie?”

Judi responds with a nervous nod.

“Hey Carn!” Edifce shouts out to the man standing less than a couple feet away, “Come talk to this lady!”

You look over to Judi, who is fidgeting. “M-maybe I should just leave before I screw something up...”

Carnegie is upon the group in a flash. “Someone need me?”

Judi blathers incoherent sounds for a while before laughing nervously and turning to walk away again.

You grab the blonde once more and force her to confront the champion. “This is Judi.” You say, “She's a fan.”

“Nice to meet you.” Carnegie says, holding out his hand.

“Ahhh... umm... I....” She quickly grabs the man's hand and begins shaking it quite violently, “Nice to meet you! I'm Judicature!”

“So I've head!” He says with a laugh, “Something you wanted to ask me?”
>>
>>34199368
“I... Umm... You... are really good at... umm... PvP guides...” She begins laughing nervously again.

He laughs once more. “Well, thank you for that! I'm surprised people still read that old thing! It's been, what, twenty years? Geeze. I feel old now.”

“I'm sorry!” She suddenly shouts, “I didn't mean to make you feel old!”

“It wasn't you, it was time that made me feel old.” He then looks to his two friends, “Did you two join a guild without me!?”

“We had to to stop the JIF!” Edifice responds.

“The peanut butter?”

“No! The Japaneses Invasion Force!”

Tarot only offers a shake of the head and, “Just don't ask. It'll only make your head hurt. All you need to know is we're heading to Big Apple to find out the secrets of food with taste.”

“And with it we'll fund a project to stop the JIF!”

“I made up the invasion thing!” Tarot shouts, “What part of that didn't you understand!?”

“That doesn't mean it's not happening!”

“It's not happening!”

“IT'S HAPPENING!” Edifice goes screaming through the party, “IT'S HAPPENING~!”

Carnegie puts his hand to his face. “I'll go get him.”

“No,” Tarot responds, “I'll go get him.”

The summoner goes wading through the party goers after his friend.

“So,” You say, turning back to the champion, “Think you might be interested in going with us to Big Apple?”

“Seeing as Edifice is going with you, I feel I'd owe you a debt if I didn't.” He then looks around, “Hey, where'd that... Judi girl go?”

You look around too. She's gone.

“So, Carnegie, why do you have so many fans?” You ask.

“Hm? Oh. About twenty years ago I was the best PvPer in North America. That's how I got this title.” He points to the name plate above him, “They had a monthly tournament and people who won could swap out their subclass with the Champion subclass. So, after the first tourney, of course I it. After a while, though, I realized it probably wasn't the best subclass to take!” He chuckles, “The worst part is that its bonuses only work in tournaments, not open PvP, and the only way to level it up is to win more tournaments!” He chuckles again. “By the time I left, I'm pretty sure I was the only person who had the title.”

“Wow!” Is all you can think to respond with, “So, you're really the best in the world?”

“In North America.” He corrects, “I quit in vanilla, before they started having the world tournaments, back in the... third expansion? I'm not too sure, I was focusing on school at the time.”

“Huh. Well, it's still very impressive.” You says, “What's this I hear about a PvP guide, though?”

“Oh, I wrote this PvP guide back before I quite called... Uhhh... The Art of PvP? I never actually read the Art of War then, but I wanted it to sound like I knew more than I did. That's the kind of things a thirteen year old does.” He chuckles, “Geeze, there were so many people who wanted to know my secrets back then. I kinda liked explaining my secrets really; it's probably the reason I became a teacher.” He laughs, “You know, when I got curious about the game again and checked the forums I saw my guide still on the front page with some... twenty thousand posts in it. It was quite a trip.”

“So... What WAS your guide? I mean, what did it say in it?”
>>
>>34200776
“Just some advice on positioning and the like. It was mostly about tournament PvP at first, but then some people started asking about open world, so I started talking about bottle necks, ambushing, and the like. The thing to realize is that it's just one huge mind game.” He laughs, “I just remember when people said you can't ambush people because they show up on the minimap, but all you need to do is just not look like you're forming an ambush. Twenty people sitting on a ridge? Of course that looks like an ambush, but five people? No one would find that suspicious, which is why you have them just wait till the target shows up and have your main forces standing in the middle of the forest far enough away that the minimap won't see them. Then you have the five in the middle of the road hit them all with slows and stuns and other CC. When they do that, you have your main forces come rushing in while your targets can't get away. Of course now that I posted that, people knew to look out for that and sent scouts out into the forest, so to counter that you'd have to take out the scouts without them realizing they were being attacked by other player...” He laughs and shakes his head, “I'm sorry, I'm rambling.”

“No, no.” You say, “Please, go on.”
>>
>>34200784
“Well, what'd you do is round up a bunch of monsters with a Tracker, drag the mob train over to the target's scout, then have the tracker disappear, putting all the aggro on the scout. BUT because I also posted that people knew to look out for that as well, so you'd report an ambush when you'd see a tracker disappear with a mob train, so people would just start retreating when they saw that, so what you would do then is have the scout report an ambush when they were already far PAST your ambush, you'd actually follow them from forever away, have them retreat with the tracker, and then ambush them while they were trying to retreat. After that people stopped retreating backwards, so then you'd need to ambush them BEFORE they get to ambush so they would charge right into it. Then they would run off the road and... I think you see where this is going.” He starts laughing quite heartily. “And, the crazy part is, back when I looked on the forum a couple days ago, people started going back to the five guys in the middle of the road technique because everyone was expecting something less obvious!”

“Are you some kind of tactical genius?”

He shakes his head, “No, I was just some kid just trying to counter my own arguments after I posted them.”

You're not quite sure how to respond until you suddenly realize, “Oh! I completely forgot to invite you to the guild! You don't mind, do you?”

He waves away your comment. “No, I don't mind. Anything to help me keep tabs on Edifice. He's... Well, we all have our troubles now. I'm sure everyone that wants out is acting that way.”

You hand him an invite and he accepts.

He smiles, “Ah, a tiny guild. I much prefer things this way, but with me here, I'm not sure how long it will stay tiny.”
>>
>>34200803
“Not too long, I hope.” You say, “I intend to have an entire division of land-ship steam-tanks.”

“And take over all of America?” He responds.

“So you heard that speech?”

“I don't think anyone didn't hear it.”

“Well, we all have to do something to keep ourselves busy. Some like to build things. Some like to make money. Me? I'm gonna get to Big Apple, talk with the head of <Swich Licour>, and hopefully get a deal to fund the building of more land-ships.”

“Well, at least you're not enslaving people.”

“Heh, I... what?”

“You haven't heard? There's some players going around enslaving Landers.”

Worry creeps into your mind. What if Aideen runs into these slavers? She'd probably resist them. They'd probably be level 90, so they could... kill her. You can't even bring yourself to think how this would affect Canis.

You shake the thought from your head. They're probably off somewhere stupid like Canada.

Okay, maybe not Canada, but maybe certainly somewhere far away. The leader of the <Morning Star> is here, there's no way there are slavers anywhere near here. You just need to calm down.

“Hey, let me introduce you to the rest of the crew.” You say, leading the legendary old man away. “You've already met Judicature, we'll probably catch up to Canis in a few days. He went on without us. There's also Takeshi, but you can meet him later. He's...” You try to think of a good word. “Stupid. He's stupid. That's probably the best way to describe him.”

“Oh. I see.” He responds.

“You haven't met Trove yet!” You say, “He's pretty much our main tank and main source of booze once we get on the road.”

“Oh, a brewer. Don't suppose he found a way to make it taste real yet.”

“If he did we'd probably have a ship twelve times as big.”

“Yeah, good point.”

You push past the crowd and back to Trove who had just finished a great rendition of Leave Her, Johnny.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4fVQwzv5Qfc

“Trove!” You shout, “This here's Carnegie! He's also joined the guild and the crew!”

“Yarr!” The pirate says, “It be nice to meet'cha!”

“It's nice to meet you too!” The champion responds, shaking Trove's hand. “You've got a great singing voice.”

“If ye worked like I did, you'd also be good. Yarr!” He responds.

“I'm sure I would!”

You begin to think to yourself. He's met Trove and Judi, you don't want him to meet Takeshi yet, and Canis is missing. Who does that leave? Ah! Lilac.

You look around, but can't see the dwarf anywhere. She is very short, so it's to be expected.

“I have one last person to introduce you to!” You say, dragging the old man away. “She's a dwarf so it's hard to see where she is...” After a while you focus on the UI and see the arrow associated with her pointing down.
>>
I don't know whats delaying Shep, but 5 bucks says its Takeshi's fault somehow.
>>
>>34202325
Did she leave the ship? No, she's just below deck. She's probably more interested in the mechanics of the ship than she is in the party. You vaguely remember where the stairs are from your drunken rampage yesterday. You travel down the stairs and threw a metal door. Middle deck is pitch black once the door closes behind you.

“Bug light!” Both you and the druid shout, which brightens the area with lights.

You follow the arrow to the central area of the deck, the sleeping quarters. You get close to the entry way when you hear Judicature.

“He does!” She laments, “He thinks I'm stupid! All I could do was stand there and babble on! Argh! Ambrosis saw everything! Give me some rope so I can hand myself!”

“You're over reacting.” Lilac's voice responds, “Also, I don't have any rope.”

“Then I'll just suffocate myself with a pillow!”

“That's not going to- Okay, fine, but you're still over reacting. I don't think he even cares.”

A light bug orbits around you and into the room. You see Judi laying on a bed, head down in a pillow, and Lilac sitting on the bed across from her. The green light from the bug gets Lilac's attention, which she doesn't seem favorable towards your sudden appearance. She attempts to silently shoo you both away.

Carnegie speaks, “Something wrong?”

Lilac palms her face with both hands.

Judicature raises her head from the pillow and slowly turns to look at you two.

You raise a hand to motion for her to calm down, but all Judi does is yell out, “I- I gotta go do a thing!” She then leaps out of the bed, runs to the opposite exit of the room, and runs off into the darkness.

You faceplam with a sigh.

“Smooth as always, Melon.” Lilac states.

“Melon..?” Carnegie responds, “Wait... Rouge? Is that you?”

“You've figured it out, Melon. Congratulations.”
>>
>>34202336
You look between the two. “Do you know each other?”

The champion nods and says, “Rouge was my personal tailor back when I played.”

“He hit on me constantly.” The sorceress adds.

“Well, I was thirteen, it was a confusing time.”

Lilac remains silent.

“Yeah...” The champion says, “I'm really sorry about all of that.”

An awkward silence blankets you. You need to do something to stop it, or at least get away from it.

[ ] Go find Judicature before she runs head long into a wall and knocks herself out.
[ ] “Hey, let's talk about something else!” Try to change the conversation to something else.

You need to get away from this, you can't stand the silence and you don't want to be standing between these two if something happens.

You take a step away and head out of the section into the main area of the deck. You start to walk around the large, empty section, seeing the light dance across all of the closed gun ports and the metal flooring. In retrospect you probably don't need this much room to move around and fight in, you probably could have given people some better beds. Then again, it's only open right now because you don't have any cannons yet.

You walk over to a hunched over figure in the fetal position.

“You okay?” You ask, sitting down next to Judi.

“No.” She responds, “Go away.”

“Really?” You sigh. “You really need to learn how to stop giving a shit. You stutter in front of some guy! Who cares!?”

She lifts her head to look at you.“It was not some guy! It was Carnegie, author of the Art of PvP! Even after nine expansions people still use his guides! Everyone in the guild reads his guide! And now he thinks I'm an idiot!”

“He doesn't think you're an idiot.” You say, “And if he does he's not worth caring about. Hell, if he thinks you're stupid I'll toss him overboard myself, legendary PvPer or not!”

“You'd do that for me?”

“Of course! No one insults my friends!” You think for a moment, “Except me. Some times. When no one's around.”

“Y-you make fun of me behind me back!?”

“No, no. I make fun of Takeshi, Some times Lilac, Canis on very rare occasions, but never you. Yet. I think. There was that one time we had that really awkward conversation when I first heard you sing. I might have made fun of you then.”

“You're not helping!”

“Sorry! I'm just trying to be honest, but think about it. When I first met you I thought you were an idiot, and now I know the past me that didn't like you is a jackass. First impressions really aren't as important as people make them out to be.”
>>
>>34203066
She mumbles something, but you can't hear it.

“What was that?” You say.

“You're the worst.” She responds.

“Why do you say that?”

She remains silent for a while, but then says, “First you make me sad, then angry, then happy, then angry again, then happy again. You're the worst.”

“Well, you're happy in the end, so that's all that matters to me.”

The light of your bugs go out. The effect must have run out. You should probably light them again, but you just don't feel like it right now. The darkness is relaxing right now.

“I WAS NINE!” You hear Lilac scream. You are so glad you got out of there. “DO YOU REALLY THINK I KNEW ANY BETTER!?”

“I said I was sorry!” Follows the voice of the new recruit, “What more do you want from me!?”

“I DON'T...!” Lilac's voice quiets down and you can't hear it anymore.

You rest your head on the bulwark of the ship. You should probably see to that, but it's just so comfortable here.

[ ] Get up and go see what the two are yelling about.
[ ] Just stay here and relax. They're adults, they can deal with their shit on their own.

You just relax your muscles. You can still hear Lilac and Carnegie bickering. You really don't care as much as you should. You hope Lilac won't leave because of this. You let out a sigh. Life is stressful.

He hear a dull thunk and Judi cry out. “Ow!”

“You okay?” You ask, “Need me to turn the lights back on?”

“N-no! I-I'm fine!” She says.

“Okay.” You close your eyes. You can barely tell the difference in light, but it helps you get more relaxed. Maybe you'll just sleep here for a while.

You feel some pressure on your hand. You instinctively look towards it, but it's still pitch black. You feel around with your fingers and realize there is a hand in your palm.

“Judi, is that you?”

“Yes.” She whispers. “Do you mind?”

“Not... really, I guess.”

She squeezes your hand. “Do you like me?” She asks, “In... in a more than friendly way?”

“I don't know.” You respond, “I'm just... confused right now.”

She stays silent for a while and then asks, “Would you mind if we stay like this for a while?”

You think it over for a couple of seconds and respond with, “No. It's... it's fine.”

“Okay.”

There is a moment of silence and then you hear a metallic thump and a light coming from the sleeping quarters. Lilac goes storming out of the room, swings the door to the deck open, and leaves. Carnegie runs after her shouting, “I said calm down!”

Then the world is quite and dark again. You lean your head back and let out a sigh. “Things are stressful.”

Judicature squeezes on your hand. “It'll be okay.”

I think I have insomnia.

On the subject of Lilacfags v Judifags, the Judifags pretty much have it in the bag at this point. It'd be an uphill battle for the Lilacfags at this point. I just hope the Judifags don't confuse confirming their victory and pushing Lilac out of the party.
>>

I dunno, we know a whole hell of a lot less about Judi than we do about Lilac. Erm, TS?
You know that when there's talk of how Judi is going to betray everyone... it kind of encourages those who are hoping for her to try and force Lilac away.
I don't want to do it mself (as said before I just want cuddling with Judi), but it's a thing.
>>
>>34208088

>>34208404
Perhaps, but removing her main mechanical benefits is like asking "What has Ambrosis done besides heal and engineer?" or "What has Canis and Trove done besides drink and sing?"

Also, Judi watched over Lilac when Lilac was over working herself. Does that count?

>>34208425
It keeps happening.
>>
>>34208540
>does that count
Half way.
also
>stupid shit Judi does

>>
For what it's worth, TS, I like Judi.
Hoping we can spend more time with her next thread.
>>
>>34208626
The challenge put forth was something that wasn't engineering or healing, which are Ambrosis' main mechanical benefits. Which are comparable to Judi's main mechanical benefit of riding/driving skills.

The fact that you are pointing to one character and saying, "Look how little she has done! She must be a throwaway character!" when I just pointed out that by your standards NONE of the characters have really done much and, by your logic, must all be throw away characters.

I doubt you'd believe me, but very few characters are throw away characters. I think the only ones that were were the racers and the <49erS> engineers that showed up that one thready.
>>
>>34208791
So you're being retarded. Got it.

>>34208840

>>
>>34208176
So monsters that are Demi gods?
Which I'm assuming the map man was who was also the thing she hit and we found that tooth of that also killed a dragon and destroyed the first land ship.
>>
>>34209292
Geniuses are a special type of monster which did not exist in the world when it was still a game. They have many special abilities, which generally revolve around controlling any beat-man race (Mobs, NPCs, and PCs) and having some kind of game-breaking ability, assuming their ability even follows the rules of the game.

tKiI's special power, which I kept neglecting to explain, was that if he touched someone, their equipment would be sold, but they would get no money from it. How strange.

Tabula was specifically supposed to say that he saw the "Are you sure you want to sell?" menu pop up a bunch of times before vanishing.
>>
>>34208791
This is why waifuwars are shit. It gives people nothing but butt flustered neckbeards who carry on like toddlers who don't get their way.

>Leave the shipping to the East India Company.
This phrase is amazing. I will probably use it some time later in my life.
>>
>>34209359
So ya, basically demigods then.
Interesting.

MiB mind controlling them perhaps? Who knows.
>>
>>34209409
If you're implying MiB is a Genius with mind control powers: MiB isn't a Genius, he was in the game before the databasing.

If you're implying MiB is controlling the Geniuses: As Coyote explained, MiB is no more. He has been replaced by "something."
>>
>>34209491
I wasn't implying he was a Genius, but a raid boss that had become aware of them and used his own abilities to dominate one or two. Sort of like kidnapping and brainwashing an infant or a knight having a dragon for a pet.
>>
>>34209359
