Well, here we are again, /tg/. I hope you're ready for more of whatever happened last time.

The twitter:https://twitter.com/DigimonQuest
The archive:http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Digimon%20Quest
The stat sheets: http://pastebin.com/u/DigimonQuest
The Storybook: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1vIIWBQ-sHlw3PZ4D4yH9hiIl8YiqEVpy1ZUztKlSzzs

Last time on Digimon Quest:

"...do you mean he's trapped there?! What the hell were you doing?" The audio quality isn't the best, but you can tell this voice belongs to an adult. A very angry one. "It's your job to make sure shit like this doesn't happen!" For a moment, you're wondering who they're talking to, until a second voice speaks up, this one somewhat younger-sounding.

"I can't keep an eye on it all the time, and besides, how was I supposed to know?! He had the proper clearance- clearance YOU gave him, old man!" The first voice lets out a growl of anger, before the sound of something shattering comes over.

"Then all that's left is to hope he doesn't fuck everything up from the inside."

...and then there's nothing more but static.

You stand there, for a moment, before looking to Niklas. If his expression is anything to go by, he's as bewildered by this as you are.

you have discovered the first of the Televisions. Perhaps, if you find more, things may become more clear...

So Gale, can we use digivice (we've got a translation of what all the signs mean I think) to do something with the TV?
It seems to involve a connection with some other place, which fits with what our digivice can do.

Also how many times have you rubbed the egg?

>Digivice
>check out the TV some more

That was most certainly not normal. Now, you’re somewhat used to the unearthly sky, the massive trees, and the talking monsters of human-level intellect, but this just seems so god damned out of place that it’s unnerving. You have a sinking suspicion that that feeling’s going to be plaguing you a lot in the future. But if there’s anything you know, it’s that your digivice likely has some sort of answer. Pulling it out, and keeping Daniil’s cipher in mind, you scroll through the menu functions, looking for something you can use to investigate this further. You note three that might work, but which will you use?

>[] A tool that simply says “Connect”, with what looks like a plug next to the name.

>>
You know, I've been thinking...
If we want to stay as the trophy husband of a Great Demon Lady following the end...
We might want to research what our digivice is actually capable of.
It will likely be the decisive edge we need so Sally doesn't need to worry about keeping us safe.
>>
>>34188504
oh, I didn't mean now. I meant that when it happens, I'll try to make it more of a bang. You know, to make up for something like twenty threads of almost no progress on that front.

And before you ask: Yes. Yes it is enough.

Pulling up the Third Eye icon, you mention the other two tools to your friends, and you note that Niklas is the first to pull out his digivice. Zoe follows suit, and together, the three of you start up the programs- yourself with the Third Eye, Zoe with Spiker, and Niklas with Connect.

You turn your attention fully to your digivice for the moment; you wouldn’t want to miss something, after all. The program loads quickly, and when it’s done, you’re met with…

a camera. It’s a camera option. You sigh and are about to exit out, when your arm, moving with your hand’s motions, passes over Niklas. Instantly, the screen changes and text starts flowing across the edges of the phone’s lower screen. Text that isn’t in Digicode, but English.

This isn’t just a camera, you realize. This is the scanner that you accidentally used once before. It has a name and everything. It’s changed appearance since you last used it, though- perhaps it has something to do with whatever Venusmon did to it back on olympus? Regardless, you excitedly turn it back to the television, only to be met with…

Nothing.

Frowning, you turn it to one of the dead trees off to the side, and are surprised when it gives you statistics about that, though mostly it’s just telling you the tree is dead with no hope of revival. So whatever that TV is made of, the scanner can’t quantify it. That’s just a bit unsettling. You turn to the others to see what progress they’ve made, but they look as stumped as you do. It would appear their efforts were met with failure as well. Niklas in particular looks especially bemused as he puts his digivice back into his pocket, staring at the TV as he does so. The others are beginning to look somewhat unnerved by the box as well.

“Guys, I don’t like the feeling I’m getting here. I think…” You look around, noting both their expressions and your surroundings. “I think we ought to just leave.”

Zoe nods from her place on Aslan’s shoulder.

“Right. We have a job to do, after all. The longer this takes, the longer we’re stuck in here.” The others seem to agree with the two of you as well, and it’s with no small amount of relief that you begin to edge around the television in the middle of nowhere. It isn’t until the appliance is well behind you that you let go of a breath you didn’t know you were holding. You can somehow feel Sally above you, hovering just above the point where it’d be difficult to see her. Her presence, even if she isn’t beside you, puts you slightly more at ease than you would be otherwise.

You continue to walk in silence, making sure that you stay with the group as a whole so as to avoid a repeat of what happened last time, when something happens. Something changes.

The forest isn’t silent anymore. Ahead of you, and to your right, you can hear something, muffled but not quieted by the fog. A rhythmic, sharp sound. Like scissors trying to cut metal. And what’s more, you know the others can hear it, too.

This means trouble. And trouble means you’re getting close.

I can work with it.

I'm also not annoyed at this. All three of the apps I gave you now (ones I've had in mind since you started debating the merit of apps on a digivice) are tools that you will find useful at one point or another. Some much less common than other, but useful nonetheless. Just don't think Third Eye will be able to give you info on everything. It has limits, and the information it can give you is limited as well.
>>
>>34190143

You can’t risk Sally blowing her cover already. The element of surprise is essential here. You hold up a hand, asking the group to stop quietly. Beside you, Zoe slides off Aslan’s shoulder, letting him prepare to fight if necessary. They can hear it, too.

You know Sally will be upset with you for essentially being bait this time, but you know it’s for the best.

This also presents an opportunity to make use of the Third Eye app and see what it’s capable of. Readying your digivice, you aim it at the spot in the fog that the sound is coming from. When pointing it at the cloud itself, you don’t get any readings, but as soon as you pass over the source of the noise, the screen lights up. And, looking up from the screen, you can see why.

The thing in the fog has now come close enough that you can see it, though you’re starting to wish you couldn’t.

It’s… it’s a giant crab.

A giant crab. With steel blades for pincers. What the fuck.

You send your friends a look, but they seem as surprised as you do. Except Aslan. He looks excited. Huh, You wonder why.

Looking back to the crab, which it would seem has now spotted you, you notice it’s moving closer, and at the same time, its pincers are opening and closing- the source of that awful sound- even more rapidly. It looks excited, and you don’t think that’s a good thing.

Aslan is our strongest hitter on the ground he could probably rush it.

But I could see Tesla attacking with taser fists would being effective. If anyone agree I'd go with that.
>>
>>34190688
Hm, what is Thirds Eye telling us?
Do we... do we happen to know if it's hostile?

Or maybe if this is some signal (because I'm thinking this is some signal for others to figure out where we are)

>>

>>
>>34190867

>>34190688

Then ask Aslan why he's so happy. It could be anything from old friend, to fight, to free crab meat.

But first, HIDE!

>>34190837
Yes. Get more info.
>>
Yeah we could do both, I didn't want to risk friendly fire but I don't think that'd be an issue.
>>
>>34190837
The Third Eye app tells you that it's called a Ganimon, and that this specimen is notably smaller than most. It's Child level, the same as Impmon and Kokuwamon. It can't tell you how strong it is, likely due to the fog, but you don't think it's exactly helpless. The pincers were noted to be made of an incredibly durable and sharp metal it calls Digizoid, but you don't know what that is in the first place.
>>
>>34190867
Ah, little too late there.

Not Gale but I assume Bulgna Gale from Sally.

Still if Ganimon's allies hear the "warning scissor" noise (the snipping got quicker, so we can assume that noise will travel over the silent forest for ages) and was suddenly cut off.

"Hey, the warning scissor stopped."
"... Shit. Go check it out. Take a bunch of guys."
>>
>>34191303

>>
>>34191303

>>
>>34191196
That is correct, and as far as Wayne knows:
Aslan has a very loud punching blast, or a regular one he just makes loud.
Sally's attack both cause lots of noise seeing as they're a tornado and a flood.
Troian has fireballs, which make some noise when they catch on something.
And Tesla you've never seen fight.
>>
>>34191362
Hm...
This guy should be weaker than Aslan, could we just have him grab at the claws and stop the guy from making sounds?

...I'm leaning towards hoping Tesla has something good and going with that.

>>34191359
>>34191362

>Failure/success

You motion to Niklas and Daniil that this one is all theirs, and step aside to let them work with their partners.

As the Ganimon continues to come closer and closer to your group, the two child levels ready their powers- lightning and fire respectively, and begin to hurl them at the approaching crustacean. Sadly, for all of Tesla’s aiming skills, his throws lack power, and the Ganimon just shrugs them off and advances. Troian’s attacks, however, do considerably more damage, likely due to the small explosions that erupt after each fireball’s impact. The crab hisses when these strike, but otherwise pays them no heed.

This turns out to be its undoing. A stray blast catches the crab on its leg, sending it onto its back, the spikes on its head embedded into the ground. It’ll be a minute or so before the many-legged digimon figures out how to flip itself back up, so now your allies have a free shot.

>>
>>34192616
You have no idea how many points aslan put into FOTBK. So many points.

>>[]N

“Alright guys,” You break in before they can finish off the exposed digimon, probably by attacking its weak spot for massive damage. “I can’t let you finish him off. We need some information, and he’s going to give it to us, right?” That last bit is directed to the crab, who whimpers and he flails about, still stuck in the ground. You take that as a yes.

“Alright, I want to know what’s going on here-” you begin, but it’s Zoe who interrupts with questions of her own.

“What’s metalseadramon’s game? What other digimon does he have under him? Are there any that will notice you being here with us?” Aslan snarls behind her to add more of a threatening image. It apparently works, because the crab begins to babble answers very quickly.

“Don’t know! Don’t Know! MetalSeadramon never tell us what his plan is! Don’t Know his plan!” The crab whimpers, and Zoe leans in closer, glaring at it.

“And the other digimon?” The crab quails under her gaze...or would if he weren’t stuck in the dirt.

“M-more Ganimon! Lots more Ganimon! Shellmon, too!” It squirms and writhes, but it’s going nowhere fast. You don’t know what a shellmon is, but you’d bet money that by the end of the day, you’ll have found out. That knowledge doesn’t really reassure you, but oh well.

“And the others?” you ask, nudging the crab with your foot. “Will they notice you’re gone?”

“D-don’t know!”

It seems you didn’t take a very bright captive. Not at all.

This seems odd to say, why not spare him? We shouldn't hire him for the army (a turn coat can be more harm on our side), but he seems too cowardly to want revenge, and too stupid to plan revenge.

Looking at this pathetic waste of hard drive space, or whatever the phrase might be here, you can't really bring yourself to tell them to kill it. It's just too weak, too pathetic. God, is it CRYING? You sigh, pinching the bridge of your nose in exasperation.

"Can someone just...knock this thing out, please? I don't think I have it in me to see it dead right now."

Aslan steps up cracking his knuckles with a grin, before...

Telsa proceeds to do his namesake proud, and begins to stungun the everloving shit out of your captive. Using his head. By the time he's done, you're very much sure the ganimon is down for the count. Shaking your head, you step over the smoking, twitching comatose crab, and continue on your way.

Telsa proceeds to do his namesake proud, and begins to stungun the everloving shit out of your captive. Using his head. By the time he's done, you're very much sure the ganimon is down for the count. Shaking your head, you step over the smoking, twitching comatose crab, and continue on your way.

you now know there are enemies in this forest- lots more of that wimpy crab, something about a shellmon, not that you know what that is, and metalseadramon himself. You suppose it makes sense, given the forest's proximity to the lake and the rivers leading into it that you saw on the map, that the sea-dwelling digimon would be able to make it into the woods in some capacity. If nothing else, they could probably just carve a new river into the banks or something.

This begs the question, though, of how you want to proceed from here. You could keep on as you have been, and cautiously make your way through the fog, but your only indication that an enemy was near enough to run into was noise. There's the option of moving down to the bank to continue from there, but you're not sure that's entirely safe.

Or you could just rush through the woods with no regard to stealth. Get in, trash the guy in charge, get out. He's supposed to be super weak right now, right?

>>34211137
>>34211145

This whole forest is an obstacle to your group, you decide. It blocks your sight, muffles sound, and honestly the chill doesn't help either.

So fuck it. Fuck this forest. Fuck this fog. Fuck that creepy-ass tv. Fuck that crab, and all his crab friends. Fuck this metalseadramon guy. Fuck it.

You sigh as you hear the sound of even more pincers in the distance, growing steadily closer.

"Our cover has probably been blown, everyone. All for heading to the banks and making a run for it?” Your statement and question are met with agreement, mostly, and the group changes direction, now heading for the edge of the woods once more. You figure that it’ll be easier to avoid being surrounded when you’ve got the lake to your back, after all.

As you near the edge of the forest, you notice the fog beginning to thin. This will allow you to see further, but Sally’s stealth advantage is now gone. A shame, but at least now your partner won't be so far away. You haven't forgotten the defenseless feeling from when you lost track of your position. It is not something you wish to experience again.

Once you reach the edge, and the lakeside beyond it, you urge the group to move faster. You can now see much further than before, oddly enough, but the forest probably had something to do with the thickness of the fog. There's no way that was natural.

For a while, your progress goes uninterrupted, and you start to hope that perhaps you might be able to reach Metalseadramon like this. The easier the better, right?

And then Sally spots something to your right, cries out, and everything explodes in a shower of water, sand, and stone.

>16

At the very last second, you throw yourself forward, and by the grace of whatever god- or goddess, given your recent adventures- that's watching over you, you manage to just barely avoid being struck by SOMETHING. Shaking your head to clear it, you pull yourself up, peering through the haze of mist and dust, trying to catch sight the bus that nearly hit you, as well as your companions, though those are more easily located. Daniil and Niklas seem to have thrown themselves to the side, as well their partners, and Aslan actually grabbed Zoe and shielded her with his back, from the looks of things. Sally's still overhead, but her gaze is fixed on...

Oh god.

What the fuck is that thing.

“Sally!” You call out, and in an instant, she’s there, her claws placed specifically to protect you from harm. You point up to the air above the monster. “Do you think you could hit him, try and distract him long enough that the rest can regroup and join in?” Your partner gives the spot you indicated an appraising look, before smiling warmly.

“I can do that, Wayne. Just stay safe, Okay?” She readies herself to fly again, and as soon as she takes off, you’re running again, heading for Zoe first. Out of the corner of your eye, you can see Sally launching a blast of violent wind at the larger digimon, though for the most part, she seems to mainly be hitting the shell. And by the looks of things, the shell isn’t taking any damage at all. The digimon within is, but it’s all too eager to withdraw into its fortress-like abode to avoid pain. It’s stuck in there, but your partner can’t hurt it at the moment.

You turn your attention back to your friend and her digimon, taking advantage of this moment Sally bought you. Relaying your plan to them as well, you get the pair to head over to Daniil, Niklas, and their partners before joining in the assault.

Neither of the two are injured, and neither are their digimon, but the blast obviously has shaken Niklas a bit more than the others. You turn your attention back to your own digimon, just in time to see her take a glancing blow from what you now believe is the “shellmon” the ganimon from earlier mentioned, its arm flashing out and smacking your partner back in your direction.

>>
>15, 16

It’s not even a question. You don’t even think about it.
One minute you’re watching her fall from her broom, the next you’re running, arms outstretched to catch your partner. Her unusual lightness is to your advantage this time, as you snatch her out of midair, one of your arms supporting her legs and the other around her shoulder, pressing her to yourself in an almost possessive manner, something your blushing digimon certainly doesn’t miss. Shaking those thoughts out of your head, you look up in time to see the shellmon drawing back for another blow, its mighty, tubed hand open as if to try and catch you. Or smash you. Smashing seems more likely.

It almost moves in slow motion- you can see where it’s going to hit, and where you can stand to just avoid it…

A step to the side and back, and the open hand lands *around you* instead of on top of you. In this case, the giant digimon’s size has betrayed it. With that, you…

Turn back and run. It may not be the bravest thing to do, but right now it is the smartest- the shellmon hasn’t moved from its original spot since it attacked, meaning it might be stuck, or just not that mobile outside of the water. Whatever the case, you’re going to get away from it, and it can’t, or won’t, follow.

As you near the others, you hear Sally mutter something under her breath, her arms tightening around you.

>[] ignore it, get back to the others

You slow from a run to a jog, then stop completely. It's Gale.
He's almost certainly dead.

it's true. You see, on the other side of this screen, there is nothing but a skeleton. There never has been a Gale, it is only the skeleton of the person known as such.

Boo.

>We're partners.

“Sally, I...when I saw you get hit, I stopped thinking. I just acted. That thing was about to hurt you even more, and I couldn’t let that happen. I don’t want to see you hurt, ever.” You give her a weak smile, trying to lessen the tension. “And anyway, the safest place I can be is at your side, Partner.”

Her response is a furious blush that spreads across her entire face, while she hides her face in her collar and your chest. It seems she’s completely given up on words. You hold back a laugh, knowing she'd take it badly, and make your way back to the others.

"Can you stand?" You ask, and after moving her feet in your arms, she nods hesitantly. You set her down on her feet gently, and step back, but not before she grabs you and pulls you close.

"Despite what you've said, Wayne, that was incredibly reckless. If I'm deleted, you can find a new partner. You have a digivice- it would find a way." Her words are heated, but her eyes tell you that the prospect pains her as well.

You're having none of that.

You pull her even closer, almost close enough for your faces to touch. You can feel her breath on your skin, and you're sure the same is true for her.

"'There Is Only One Sally.'" You say, throwing her words from the day you met back at her. "There will only ever be one Sally. And that Sally is the only partner I want." You cup her face with a hand, then-

...Shit, should we give Zoe some hope that she'll manage to get us in the end, or should we more or less display what may as well be NTR for her?

...Then again, we ARE in the middle of battle, we can always seal the deal afterwords.

Middle of fight, anons, really stupid time to kiss the emergent computer program in the approximate shape of a girl.

Totally not the place for this.

Let's wait for our friends to no longer be in imminent danger.

Fighting first.

alright, the hormones are under control, then.

Wayne is a strong-willed guy, isn't he?

Writing.

>Not here, not now

You, very reluctantly, pull away before you can actually kiss her again, noting the disappointment on her face as you do.

“We’ll talk later,” you promise her, and watch as her broom returns to her hand. “But right now, I think there’s a fight we need to finish.” Turning your attention back to said fight, you notice that for all of Aslan’s Enthusiasm, he hasn’t got very far in the way of actually defeating the shellmon. In fact, he looks rather frustrated at his inability to damage its shell. You look to the others, ignoring their questioning looks directed to you and your partner, then to the last two digimon on your team.

“Either of you think you can take that thing?” You ask. Tesla’s pincers and horns light up briefly, but otherwise he says nothing, while Troian just nods, a grin of anticipation on his face. You look back to their partners, and wave a hand over to the fight. “Then I’ll let you four decide how you want to handle this.” While they talk amongst themselves, you notice the look Zoe is sending you- one of...resignation? You didn’t expect that, but you suppose it’s better than anger. For now.

You turn back to your partner, and nod over to the fight. “Are you up to going back in, or am I going to have to carry you again?” You ask, laughing at the blush on her face. She nudges you with one of her arms, which you take as a playful slap since she can’t actually do that to you, and smiles back, before hopping on her broom once more.

“I’m fine, Wayne. But this time, stay there, please?” She’s almost begging you, but you can’t make that promise.

“I won’t agree to that, but I’ll try.” she just sighs and nods, accepting that as the best she’ll get, before jetting back into the fight, her broom carrying her far faster than most digimon you’ve met can run.

It’s then that Zoe steps up beside you, her eyes firmly locked on the fight, and not you, or where Sally was standing moments ago.

Aslan and Sally are working together somewhat, or at least they’re trying their best to get the bastard to come out of his literal shell so they can hit him.

Neither of you says anything, but you feel like you should.

>[] say something now.
>[] Later. Maybe with Sally, too.

[x] "Sorry for being dumb. We can talk about it later, if you want."

Probably not the best time, but we are alone...

I have no idea what but even just a lead in like "So, whats up" is good

That means you need to decide on what to say though.

You can't just pick "say something" and have that be the end of it.

OH god. You thought you knew what awkward was- having to explain your dad to your friends, or trying to ask a girl you don't really know out, but this...

This is the definition of awkward. Talking to a girl who you know has, at the very least, a crush on you, and who you crushed on at one point, about the girl you currently think you l- well, at least care for a great deal.

And honestly, it's all your fault. You can't really imagine it being anything but your fault. Fuck.

You take a deep breath, watching Sally throw a particularly nasty punch at the pink monstrosity, and decide to take the plunge.

"I'm sorry, Zoe. I'm sorry for being so dumb. I- we can talk about it later, if you want." She doesn't say anything, just slowly nods. You figure that's all you're going to get from her.

Now Daniil and Niklas have stepped up as well, their digimon running out to join the fray as well. The Shellmon is turtling again, and this time, neither Aslan nor Sally can get to its weak point. Perhaps the smaller digimon will be able to?

>aaand I'm going to call it again for tonight. If the thread is still here in the morning, I'll pick back up and ride it to autosage and off the board.
>I hope you guys enjoyed this one. I did.

oh
okay

It was pretty fun, intense awkwardness aside.

We need to find a way to show Zoe that she means as much to us as Sally...
Of course, during this 'confession' Sally will have to pick up Zoe and Wayne, carrying them into a tent...

Probably best done if/when Wayne, Zoe and Sally end up separated from the rest of the group...
Maybe Zoe gets taken by a Flying Digimon, and Wayne & Sally give pursuit but end up separated from the others due to loosing track of how far they are following Zoe's captive....
Obviously after defeating the Digimon that took Zoe, a storm would start, forcing the three into some kind of shelter, so things happen while waiting for it to pass...

I feel like I have watched too much shit to see this as a solution....

Damn, Leomon, step it up. You don't just punch the shell, you gotta knock it into the air, possibly aided by Baluna Gale.

No matter how strong a shield, fall damage is still a bitch.
