"I don't know if it's shock or stubbornness, but she refuses to respond to any questions.", Aikurou explains.

"I see." You take a step forward. "Hououmaru."

She raises her head. "Yes, Lady Satsuki?"

The Nudists point their guns at her in surprise. Mikisugi scratches his head, and sighs.

"Guess being a Kiryuuin was the password.", Ryuuko concludes.

What comes after saving the world just might be more challenging, but it seems you're doing pretty well so far.

A week has passed since the day the blue planet turned crimson. Oddly, this brief, but undeniably notable incident has not been mentioned on any official channels. Seven billion people were lifted into low orbit by their clothes, and subsequently returned to Earth unscathed. Of course, the only ones aware of what actually happened were all gathered in Honnouji Academy at the time. Perhaps everyone else thought they imagined it?

Regardless, it's a convenient outcome. Humanity needs time to prepare. Alien clothes from space are not a thing that can be just casually revealed. It will have to be revealed eventually, however.

For now, you have several other matters to attend to, significantly smaller in scale, but not any less important to you. Restoration of Honnouji Academy, its further fate, and the issue otherwise known as your parents.

Ragyou and Souichirou have no doubt a lot to answer for, but revenge is not what you seek. You and your sister fought, among other things, to get your life back. The life your parents stole from you with their actions. However, you are not blind to their own circumstances. Therefore, you've decided to give them a chance to prove they deserve to get their life back, as well.

There actually is one more matter, one you haven't talked to anyone about. Not even your sister, even though it concerns her in specific. Ever since the two of you found out of your blood relation, your relationship has been... ambiguous, and you were perfectly comfortable with that state. However, a certain action threw this ambiguity off-balance a week ago. You haven't had much time to think about it since...

True, it was a desperate situation, and you thought you were going to die anyway. But, you didn't, and now you're left with this realization. Maybe you shouldn't try to ignore it, after all. You need to talk to her.

You spend the rest of the day running actually useful errands related to the reconstruction, and other preparations for the second semester. You occasionally catch yourself wishing you had it as easy as Satsuki does, but then you remember she has tons of paperwork to do, and just as many calls to make. Not really your thing.

It seems everybody is raring to return to the school life, which you find a bit odd, considering how Honnouji's school life has looked thus far. Hopefully, nobody will protest the changes Satsuki intends to bring, in an effort to make this place look more like an actual school.

By the time evening arrives, you're pretty exhausted, mostly because lugging heavy things around was among the more popular requests you've been receiving. Not just heavy by human standards, either. Don't they have their Ultima Uniforms for this kind of stuff?

The Student Council chambers are devoid of any activity, either because the Devas are too tired to stick around, or still busy with something. This is easily the busiest summer vacation of your life, and the previous ones weren't exactly lazy.

As the central room is empty, that leaves only one other place where Satsuki could be. And sure enough, she is in the hallway leading to your and her quarters. Soroi must've been here recently, as she's drinking tea.

"You look tired, Ryuuko.", Satsuki notes, setting down her cup.

"I look exactly how I feel, then. And so do you. What's bothering you?"

She smiles slightly, and gets up. "I'm glad you can read me so well. Let's talk somewhere we can both sit down."

Come to think of it, she never did buy a second throne for this room. Not that you ever had a need for it. You follow Satsuki into her quarters, and the two of you have a seat in the living room.

Come to think of it, there's something you wanted to talk to her about.

This sounds ominous. However, the Kamui don't respond at all. That must mean they took Satsuki's request to heart.

"Thank you.", she says. "And I'm sorry, for making you do this."

She directs her gaze back at you. "Ryuuko. I think that both of us realize... something happened between us a week ago."

Your eyes widen for a moment. She... wanted to talk about the same thing?

"Well... there's no denying that.", you answer. "I actually wanted to talk to you about this myself."

"I suppose it's not a thing either of us could easily ignore.", Satsuki concludes.

You smile. "A love confession followed by a kiss isn't something you easily forget, I think."

"Indeed. However, we did this under desperate conditions. The question is: how do we feel about this now, with our minds clear and rested, and no looming threat of any kind? How do you feel about it, Ryuuko?"

Satsuki starts tearing up, and locks you in a tight embrace. "I... I don't know what to say.", she chokes out. "I'm happy, Ryuuko."

You pull her in for a kiss. A slow, passionate kiss. Not as a single, fused mind, but as two separate people, deeply in love with each other. You close your eyes, and let the other senses take over. Satsuki's scent, taste, touch - you savor all of it. You love everything about her.

As you pull away, you open your eyes, and lock them with Satsuki's.

"You need a shower, Ryuuko."

You choke on the saliva Satsuki left in your mouth. "...THAT's what you're g-going to tell me after a kiss like t-this?!"

"I'm serious. You're awfully sweaty." She's not letting up.

You sigh, and can't help but smile. You love this part of her, as well. "Well, I did spend a big portion of the day carrying things bigger and heavier than me around."

She stands up. "Then we're going to shower. I need it, as well."

Somehow, you feel a bit different about this than the last time.

I'm tired, so that's all from me for now.

And it was different. You've never seen Satsuki this joyous and playful before. It's as if the realization the two of you had opened some floodgate of emotion in her. The same goes to you. You thought nothing can make you happier than the relationship the two of you had thus far. You were wrong.

After showering, the two of you head to your quarters, and your bed. While Satsuki did replace all of the furniture in her part of the tower, she still feels uncomfortable sleeping there. You can't blame her.

You fall face first in your pillow, and groan. "I'm happy, but still tired and sore. Let's sleep."

Satsuki lies down next to you. "You know, Ryuuko... we'll need to keep this under wraps. Other people might not look kindly upon it."

You sigh. "...Yeah. But hey." You turn on your side to face her. "As long as we can be together, I don't mind pretending in front of others."

She smiles. "We can agree on that."

"I feel sorry for Senketsu and Junketsu, though. This is probably too much information for them."

"They were bound to find out sooner or later. Trying to keep it a secret from them would be disrespectful. They deserve to know."

"Yeah."

Despite your exhaustion, you spend a good deal of time exchanging kisses and hugs with Satsuki. Finally, the two of you start drifting off to sleep, huddled closely together.

"...Oh, I just remembered.", you mutter.

"Hm?" Satsuki places a gentle kiss on your forehead.

"Sanageyama had the craziest request to the two of us earlier today."

"Does he perhaps want us to synchronize, and fight him?", she asks in an amused tone.

"...That's exactly it." How did she know?

She blinks. "I... was joking."

"He wasn't. He really asked me that."

Satsuki chuckles quietly. "I suppose he would say something like that. What are we going to do about it, Ryuuko?"
