The best thing about being the tallest is that when the two girls are both shorter than you, and one is much shorter, you can hold them both and they can lie on you easily. You let your hand continue to stroke Kiku-chan's hair absently, the motion as soothing to you as it seems to be for her. Kiki-hime was a little shocked by some of the things you did to her sister, but not once did she turn away or interrupt. For her part, Kiku-chan was ultimately obedient, attentive, and her sister got a taste of how amazingly talented and well trained Kiku-chan is. You slip the end of your tail from the tangled knot and turn off the water. Kiku-chan stirs, one golden eye opening and looking up at you. Lifting your head you kiss her softly and she responds a little, but lays her head back on your breast and closes her eyes again. She still seems somewhat uncertain of the validity of that claim, and you smile brightly. “After we get your sister to bed, I will tell you about some of the things I have seen, Kiki-hime, before you sleep.” You gesture around you, and Kiku-chan shifts slightly, murmuring something in her sleep that is not Japanese. “This place, for instance, the waterfall at Ashoka, and places at the seaside....” Maybe one day you will take her to your father's palace....though you recall the dream you had, the memory of a palace of your own.

You quickly shove that thought aside, and look into those soothing, gentle eyes of sky blue. “Besides, there are more spirit children than Clan Ryo, Hinata-hakase, Kushinada, and Hidesato. There are groups of them who protect sacred places that are actually holy, those who wander the city and bring beauty to it, and demigods descended from gentler, kinder deities.” Cupping her cheek lightly, you promise her. “One day, I will show you that what I say is not just true, but worthwhile.”

Her hand covers yours and she lays her head along your breast lightly. “Hai, Ryu-chan. I believe you.”

Kissing the top of her head softly, you sigh. “But I think we need to get your sister in bed. She lacks our resilience, for all her willingness.” Kiki-hime is blushing, but she rises slowly – and none-too-steadily. “I'll take her.” You strip the watter from your lover's bodies as well as your own, and pull a warming breeze around Kiku-chan, who sleepily curls into your arms as you pick her up.

Kiki-hime quickly brushes her hair out, as you shake yours into its proper lack of tangles. Your lover stares as you grin at her. “Wind and water, oujo-hime. Perfect hair every time, all the time.” Even with your hair three times as long as hers, it is perfectly straight, dry, untangled, and glossy. She helps you dress the still sleeping Kiku-chan, and takes her so you can put on a simple dark blue kimono, while she has taken a thick, soft robe from the wall hanger for herself.

The scent of food makes your mouth water, but you ignore that in favor of taking your priestess to her bed. Kiki-hime says she will join you after she dresses. When you walk out into the living room Akari, Yui, Jinyuu, and Yumiko are at the table in the dining room (Western sensibilities are somewhat odd) though they have only started eating. You glance at Akari, who shakes her head minutely, and makes a faint gesture to reassure you that Er Yin is not hiding away but simply in her room. “I'll be back in a moment,” you murmur, as Kiku-chan curls closer to you, murmuring something soft and melodic.

You tap on Er Yin's door with your tail, and it opens, though she is not near it. Her room is pitch black, though you have no issues with darkness. “Please enter, Ryukusa-sama.” She is sitting at the writing desk, inking some ofuda, though you can't tell what colors she's using other than the black ink.

Er Yin laughs softly as she finishes the final touches on the ofuda she's working on, and reaches for the switch on the desk lamp.

“That's not needed, Er Yin-sensei – the dark is fine. Would you like her in bed, or do you have her basket handy?”

“I prefer her in the bed, Ryukusa-sama. She is delightfully warm.” Er Yin rises slowly, her tail snaking out of the open back of the chair and sliding to the floor as she walks towards the side of the bed you are on, her hand sliding along the satin sheets.

“Thank you for asking her to join us. Her sister is much less confused about your relationship, and I think she even approves.” Your tail pulls the sheets and covers back, and you lay the sleeping dragonette in the bed. She immediately rolls over and curls up again, begging to be someone's little spoon. As you cover Kiku-chan, Er Yin's hand reaches for you. Immediately you give her your tail and guide her hand to your hip.

Er Yin smiles in the darkness. “This truly doesn't bother you? I did not know your kind could see in the dark.”

I don't think that was a minor issue at all, Jinyuu was being condescending to Ryukusas lifestyle and literally all the people she knows and cherishes quite a bit. It was very thoughtless of her and she realized that. The two probably aren't used to disagreeing like that, which is why it was so hurtful.

Your sister is more concerned about any possible conflicts of love interest, rather than whether or not you can protect them. Her phrasing is meant more to point out the potential flaws in your love life and questioning your capacity for polyphilic relationships. Still, it's a genuine concern, and she is academically interested, as opposed to emotionally concerned at the moment.

Considering her question seriously, in light of the idea that her concern is more academic than emotional, it doesn't take too long to come up with a proper answer that will satisfy her. You pick up a dumpling and dip it into both the soy sauce and some pepper oil, and take a neat little bite out of it before answering her. “It will be fine, onee-sama. There is nothing that cannot be overcome, since they are here to support me even as I take care of them.” You dip the dumpling in the hot oil, then in the soy sauce, and finish it. Different situations, both the same, just like the love they share with each other and with you. Not precisely so, but then, that's what makes it delicious.

“I think it is more that I believe that I can, rather than being sure that I can. If I was sure, that would be hubris, and I would undoubtedly fail along the way.” You smile and turn your sake cup clockwise, twice, three times. Yin, Yang, Chi; they'll help you to help them through any issues that might arise. You sister looks at you, her expression mild.

You're absolutely certain that Akari is not just discussing your protection of your family, but also the love life your sister is speaking of. Yui looks at her and nods slowly, relaxing a little, her hand moving to clasp Akari's under the table.

Sometimes you think Akari should have been a Water dragonette.
