“That thing I kicked seemed sort of hell like.” You say.

“Ah, yes. That would be something called the Hell Wyrm.” She says. “A dragon given power, and locked in hell from a world long since gone.” She explains.

“What’s his issue?” You ask.

“I am not totally certain. I had thought he was content growing fat in the pit but it seems he broke out and is planning something.” She explains. “The angel who stabbed me was…” She pauses as if finding the subject difficult to broach. “… An old friend from a very long time ago.”

You think about everything going on and feel terribly outside of your depth. You remember the scary dragon thing, and the angels. You think about your shrine and wonder if it is still safe there. Asmodeus coughs, and you see her hand flecked with blood. She might need some help, plus she knows more about stuff that is going on. Then again the shrine might be in danger.

You decide not to go to the shrine, instead grabbing a pair of chairs and dragging them over the floor to Azzy. You carefully place her in the chair with your tails, and then grab a seat yourself. One of your tails snakes over the floor of the club to retrieve her cane while you think about what to say. Finally you decide to broach the most important subject of all; eating. “So that Hell Wyrm fellow sure seemed tasty.” Scary. “Scary. What can you tell me about him?”

Asmodeus wraps her fingers around the maybe wood of her cane, and she keeps a bleary eye on you as she heals. “He is greedy, strong, and terribly wicked. Honestly he lacks the magical finesse of angels, or even demons, but he is like a thug I suppose.”

“I don’t get it.” You say. He’s like Smaug, I guess. “If he is the mightiest of dragons he would be more like Ancalagon.” You say thinking yourself so bloody clever for being a nerd. “Any weaknesses?”

“He is somewhat stupid for a dragon, but that may not help since most of the beasts around his age are so smart it makes no difference. I suppose angel attacks would hold some measure of effectiveness against him due to his favor of hellfire, though his scales are thick.” She explains. “Honestly, I didn’t spend much time in Hell if I could avoid it so that is about all I know. If you are going to fight him then you should be ready for an ugly mud fight.”

“Well, that is certainly something to consider, thanks. What about that angel bloke?” You say leaning back in the chair.

“He can, for lack of a better term, cloud grace so it can’t be used. It is a very effective method for dealing with angels. He developed the skill during the rebellions and- Well, he went insane.” She answers honestly. “Before our rebellion he was sweet, and gentle. It is always the gentle ones who are transformed into monsters when they have to be. I do not wish to discuss this any further, if you will be so kind.”

“That’s fine.” You sigh leaning back.

Asmodeus tilts her head slightly while staring at you making you feel uncomfortable. You cross your legs and arms, then you tap your arm with a long nailed finger. She seems to think on it for a moment and clears her throat. “Is there something else? I am not certain I can tell you much more.”

“Hm? No nothing. I need a reason to want to sit with you? Besides, you got angel stabbed! I can’t have you falling asleep and never waking up.” That’s head wounds. “I am pretty sure it is all wounds.”

“You are electing to stay with me because you are concerned?” Asmodeus guesses.

Well sort of. “Course, can’t have my snazziest of azzy’s getting an infection. You could lose the baby.” You point out due to your extensive medical knowledge called you used to eat ghosts at a hospital.

She furrows her brow in confusion, and continues to stare at you like you have two heads. You don’t stop looking for it. She holds that strange look for a few moments then smiles assaulting your senses with the taste of the screams of need for every taboo. “That is so sweet of you. Thank you Risa, it has been some time since someone made a fuss over me.”

“That’s me.” You say as blood vessels burst in your eyes. “A helper.”

If we are going by your strange logic of concussions being the same as getting angel stabbed, we should probably keep her awake with conversation. We need a conversation topic to pass the time…

“How about I make you something?” You ask. Wait what? “You are always being a right proper sort for me, so I may as well try to make you comfortable. Let’s see here then.” You say thinking. This seems like a terrible idea.

“It is somewhat embarrassing to have you making a fuss over me. I will recover you-“ She starts but you put your finger to her lips and make a shushing sound.

“Hush now, you’re delusional. Blood loss I suspect. Just leave everything to me.” You say running into the back room Azzy normally rests in.

You tear off the finger you put on her lips before the overwhelming sensations break you. You flex your hand after your finger regenerates, then cancel your second release to stand there once more in your torn up band T-shirt and jeans. You see Belphy still indistinct in the corner, but you decide to ignore him now. You grab the largest fluffiest blanket you can find and the softest most comfortable pillow.

You grab a foot rest, and you drag it all back to Azzy. As you pull the footstool over the cement ground the screech of wood on cement or something echoes along with the pulsing music to make your teeth rattle. You ignore the discomfort, and proceed to set up all the stuff around azzy. You take off her shoes after putting her feet up on the foot rest. You push her forward to carefully place the soft pillow under her head, then you wrap her ion the large blanket. Something seems off so you carefully tuck the sides of the blanket around her so she can be safe in her cocoon of blanket.

“Right then, what else. Monologue, what else do we do for someone who is injured?” You demand. What, me? Uh, cold, wet rag? Either around her neck, or on her head, or something; I can’t remember.

You find a rag and run it under the tap before seeing the kettle sitting unused on the counter. You decide to go for it and put the kettle on. You take the cold wet rag back to Azzy and place it around the back of her neck. It probably helps.

You decide to make her a nice Darjeeling tea. You warm the cup, get the leaves, and let it infuse. You crouch down and glare at the pot as the scent of decades of British imperial tea based oppression waft over you, and when it is finished you pour the tea through the strainer into the cup. The fine china, or suitable replacement, makes such a lovely image for tea that you have to stop yourself from drinking it down yourself.

You barely restrain your Britishness before taking the tea to Azzy who is too snazzy for words. You carefully hand her the cuppa and while she is sipping it you grab a stand of some kind for her to set her drink down on. “Thank you Risa, the tea is quite lovely.” Azzy explains.

The two of you chat for some time. During you taking care of her you decide to set up a fan system, make her finger sandwiches, and construct an elaborate puppet based pulley system in case she needs anything more. She goes to sleep, and you decide it is okay now because you know nothing of injuries, and because you have a terribly short attention span regarding a vast range of subject matter.

You leave the club after surrounding her with stuffed animals and doll heads, then leap back towards your shrine. The rain is still coming down in sheets, but you managed to make it back without getting struck by lightning or drowning which is always good.

You step inside the main building of the shrine proper and see pretty much everyone is trying to find shelter inside the renovated building. “Yo Jager!” You smile when you see the tall woman. “I miss anything?”

“You’re back? Yeah the-“ Jager takes a good look at you and frowns. “Risa, you’re soaked! Here, hold still for a second.” She commands.

She goes into one of the back rooms, and returns moments later holding a massive towel and several smaller ones. You instantly assume a defensive posture because you don’t trust this towel business. You try to break right, but Jager steps in front of you. You fake going left, then try to slip past her but she is too clever for you. The massive towel wraps around you, and you just sort of give up.

She begins drying you off, and you know you are defeated. “Anyway,” she starts running a towel through your hair, “there have been a few things. Caede had some sort of panic attack, and locked herself in the training area. There was a ringing in your room earlier from a phone, but no one answered it. The science guys think they can start using that weird machine you had them build, but I am not certain they got all the Loki out of it.”

Jager pulls out a brush and you hear a blow-dryer kick on behind you. She carefully brushes out your long hair while running the warm air, and it makes you feel like a nap would be a good idea honestly. “Other than that nothing else has really been going on.”

“Were you trying to make a rhyme up there?” You wonder as Jager carefully brushes out your soft hair. Little bit, then we got lazy.

You let her finish drying your off while resisting the urge to go to sleep. She dries you off enough to not be a sopping wet cat just coming in out of the rain. You climb out of the fluffy towels and stretch to get the not blood flowing through you again. That’s always bothered me how souls still bleed in this universe. Very unfortunate. “May as well go see what has Caede all bothered.” You say.

Jager frowns and nods. “Okay, just be careful. Don’t push her too hard. Also use an umbrella or something, it’s raining cats and dogs out there.”

“It’s raining Risa’s and Jager’s.” You correct her.

She slightly smiles. “Yes, it’s raining you and me out there.”

You grab an umbrella, and dream walk over to the building linked to the training area. You open the trap door and sort of just fall down the stairs because fuck ladders. You see the ground is changed into something closer to the forest of menos, and the air is thick with energy. Mixed with the energy is the raw stench of rotten eggs and blood. Your eyes adjust to the dark, and in the far end of the area you see Caede hovering in the air with her knees tucked into her chest.

You walk over to her, and your angel grace parts hum at the demonic energy radiating around you. “Hey there Caede, you seem to be sort of a grumpy gus.” You say.

“I am buszzzy.” She says.

You pull a doll out of your pants and- “It’s not a doll. Dolls are for girls.” You are a girl. You look down confused then nod. “Oh, right. I keep forgetting that. Why do I keep forgetting that?” Years of constant blunt force trauma to your brain, and all the drugs.

You hold the doll up and point at it. “Caede, show me on the doll where the Wyrm helled you. No judgments. This is a safe place.”

She smacks the doll out of your hands with a sharp chiton covered hand and Princess Jellybottom falls to the ground defeated. You fall to your knees and punch the earth in futile hate at the pointlessness of war. Or something, seriously, we stole that doll no need to get emotional about it. “You think thiszzz is funny? The wyrm waszzz like a natural diszzzaster!” She says.

“Like a tornado?” You ask.

“No. It waszzz like a giant whale shark.” She explains.

“Wait, the filter feeder? Large fish with big old mouth? Why would you be afraid of that?” You wonder.

She glares at you and you see silver specks in her multifaceted eyes which probably mean some complex emotion you are not equipped to deal with. “It is pretty terrifying if you are a krill. It got pushed through the hellfire oceans, and the mountains of the dead. It slept until it was time to feed, and when it rose it consumed whole cities.”

“There are cities in hell?” You ask.

“Szzzome. It depends on the layer, and the demons which live there.” She says. “But when it broke through the szzzurface it fed on hellfire, it consumed demons. It’szzz like- Him being here iszzz like-“ She pauses trying to think about how to explain it. “You live in a placzzze that is by an active volcano which szzzometimes destroyszzz a few citiezzz. Szzzo you move to a place volcanoes cannot be, then when you think you are szzzafe the volcano knocks on your door and punches you in the faczzze.” She explains buzzing loudly.

That would actually be pretty funny. “That sounds very sad and I am super sorry to hear that happened to you.” You say. “But it is gone now, and it seems the angels opened a can of whoop ass.” Do dragons even have asses? “So why don’t you just calm down okay? I really doubt he will hurt you.”

She continues buzzing loudly while hovering in midair. You worry you broke her but she slowly lowers herself to the ground and stops buzzing as much. She is still sitting with her knees tucked into her chest, but it is a good start. “I don’t like the fact the angels are here either.” She says finally.

“Well, maybe you will get lucky and they will kill each other.” You reply.

“Not with Gabriel there. You should ask your fallen angel friend about him sometime. He is scary. All the archangels are scary.” She explains. “I don’t like having so many troublesome things around me.”

“Well, that’s life innit?” You ask. I don’t like how we still have to do stuff after death too. Pain in the ass. “Stiff upper lip monologue. Stiff upper lip.”
