Welcome Ladies and Gentlemen to another edition of Succubus Lord Quest!

Last time on Succubus Lord Quest, it was the epic three way duel for the ultimate ownership of Old TO! A three way duel between the you, the Draugr, and Dio! But thanks to crafty wits in battle, Brooklyn was able to land the killing blow against the Draugr and secure the title of Lord of Old TO, at long long last. Celebrations where to be had all around the city and inside of your party. A fight with Shiva eventually broke out, wherein she got too drunk and rowdy for her good and ended up causing an immense amount of property damage to your brand new grand hall.

After deciding to retire to bed for the night, you wake up the next morning to find yourself being ambushed by assassins! But not just any assassins, actual Succubi are now aiming snipe your title away like the true demons they are!

We now continue from where we left off!

You can only shake your head and sigh at this behavior from the three ill-equipped Succubi.

Just as the one on fire hurls a fireball at you, shadow consumes your body in a blink of an eye as you teleport over to the corner shadow of the room, near and inside the fireplace.

“You know, you might have wanted to figure out why all the Sutoba's and the other powerful succubi didn't try to take my spot first.” you say as tentacles wriggle out of your form and worm along the ground, hellish red eyes opening up in the space around you. “Food for thought.”

(Critical roll!)

The three Succubi stop in their tracks, frozen in terror as you proceed to pummel the ever living daylights out of them in order to teach them a lesson.

Just as the beating finishes, Alex and Mina run into the room, both of them half naked. Your father also runs in, hands glowing in a holy light.

“Brooklyn!” Mina exclaims. “We heard a commotion over here a- ...Oh.”

“I guess we were late for ze party.” Alex replies.

“These three idiots tried to kill me in my sleep. I guess the Laminian got past the guards as these idiots were my actual guards.” you tell the group.

“Well son, you shouldn’t upset at something like this of all things.” your Father exclaims.
>>
[2/3]

“They tried to kill me!” your father points out.

“Yes, and there’s going to be a lot more of them coming at you. Don’t you remember your history Brooklyn?” your father asks.

“...Oh right, those who get a new station are often attacked quite a bit aren’t they?” you reply.

“Very much so.” your father replies.

“You should be happy Brooklyn! The very fact that they attempted this means they acknowledge you as a leader!” Mina exclaims.

“And people wonder why I didn’t want to be the leader in our group.” Alex states.

You, Brooklyn, should make an example out of those who defy you. Off with their heads.

What? But it’s only a normal d-

You, Brooklyn, WILL be an effective leader. You, Brooklyn, know that my advice is best for what a leader does.

(With Great! Willpower and roll of 62, it was a pass)
>>
[3/3]

“Ugh...” You mutter as you hold onto your head.

“...Brooklyn, are you alright?” your father asks rushing to your side.

“I’m fine. Just a lot on my mind.” you say wondering just exactly what the hell was that feeling, but you brush it aside for now.

“There’s still a matter of what we ought to do with these girls.” Mina says pointing to the hogtied Succubi.

“...H-Hey! N-No reason for harsh discipline right!?” The Laminian asks.

“Y-Yea! We learned our lesson really well here! Honest!” one of the Aide’s replies.

“Hm...” you say thinking about it.

“Brooklyn, I know you may be the Demonic Lord of Old TO now, but I hope you make the right choice here. Demonic or not, the Brooklyn I know should know what to do in this situation.” you father says crossing his arms.

“You should even feel happy about this Brooklyn! I wish people challenged me out of the blue like that more often! Ever since I left Nihon I’ve missed the formal challenges people used to issue all the time!”

A) “To the Dungeon with you lot then!”
B) “You can go free, but if I *dare* catch you here again...”
C) “If I don’t make a clear example now, people are going to continue pushing me around. Have them slated for execution later today.”
D) “Good news ladies, I’m giving you a choice as I feel generous today! You can choose to be broken to me or die!”
E) Other

(Yes, this contains some parts from the last session, thought it flowed better)
>>
>>34094353
A)“To the Dungeon with you lot then!”
E) The guards are fired most likely and we send a report of their actions to the Fighters' Guild. The Laminian we keep in case they know ways around the Palace. Beyond that, make sure the palace guard are doing their jobs.
>>
>>34094353
D) “Good news ladies, since you are my first customers and i'm feeling generous, I’m giving you a choice! You can choose to be broken to me or die!”

This is a good middle ground, we need to set an example but i'm not sure if we want to be full murder.
>>
>>34094353
D) “Good news ladies, I’m giving you a choice as I feel generous today! You can choose to be broken to me or die!”

because why not? it work well enough here
>>
>>34094353

>E) Other
"You know, As the first challengers to my rule, I'll give you a choice. Option One; you spend some time in the dungeons. Option Two; you pledge you eternal service to me! Or Option Three; you become my personal maids..."
>>
Interesting. I'll be home in an hour or so, and I'll type up some of my ideas for medium to long term then
>>
>>34094614
>>34094673
The guards decided that turning coat would be to their benefit, despite the rumours about our abilities. Why do we want them as servants?

The Laminian might work...but we don't have time for that now. Dungeons solves this for now.
>>
>D: Good news! You can be chosen to be broken to me, or die!

Breaking people is probably going to hurt morale. But putting it as a law might be an idea. Not sure exactly...

Well, let's go with it for now
>>
A
>>
>3 votes for D
Isn't this like the most despicable thing ever to most of succubus society? AND something that we were ranting about making super illegal last thread?
>>
>>34094724
Loyalty issue, combined with stupidity and ambition.

We can't fix stupid but we can fix loyalty.

Incidentally, I remember suggesting long ago that since you can't really be broken twice, having someone dear to us break us and then them being broken by us would be both pro-active in protecting us from that fate and also be a beautiful, beautiful wedding sort of thing.
>>
>>34094835
This. We need to watch ourselves here.
>>
>>34094896
>>34094835
It would probably be a huge disappointment to all of our friends and father.

okay yeah, i remember that scratch my vote here

We COULD make it an alternate penalty to the death penalty.

Some folks not wanting to die is better alive than dead.

>>
>>34094755
What's the point of taking over the town from the Pride Demons if we're as bad as them when it comes to punishment? Breaking is overkill, and would not work on boken Succubus, anyway.

I say A)DUNGEON or just executing them.
>>
>>34094243
>Brooklyn was able to land the killing blow against the Draugr
I think you mean against Dio
>>
>>34094353
A) Dungeon time! It shows a spine as a leader, but is also better than what the pride demons were doing.
>>
>>34094353
>A) “To the Dungeon with you lot then!”
sort them out after they've had some time to stew in there
>>
[1/3]

“Take the lot of them to the dungeon!” you command. “...Except the Laminian.”

“Eh!?” The Laminian gasps.

“How exactly did you get into my room?” you ask.

“...If I tell you will you let me off with a lighter sentence?” she asks.

You summon a darkness tentacle from the ground, stroking it gently a few times before it suddenly grows an array of sharp spikes all the way down it’s body.

“M-My mother used to work here and knew the layout! Once that was figured out, I had these two Aide’s assist me with everything else!” the Laminian immediately blurts out in fear.

“You bitch!” The fire aide exclaims.

“Guards! Take these Succubi to the dungeon!” you exclaim loudly.

A few Succubi guards rush into the room, taking the demons away. The entire time the Aide’s are chewing out the Laminian while the Laminian just winces.

“You made the right choice daughter. I’m glad to see becoming a Demon Lord hasn’t compromised your values.” your father replies.

“Hopefully the phrase ‘power corrupts’ won’t kick in for some time, if ever. Not let’s see about getting something to eat.” you reply to Mina and your father as you throw on a housecoat.

******

Upon heading to the dining hall for breakfast, you see that the entire area is now an open air ruin compared to the pristine spotless dining hall that it was yesterday. This honestly doesn’t even flinch you in the slightest, and you only take a seat in front of a table that managed to survive against all odds.

“Where’s Shiva?” you ask sitting down.

“Over there.” Nalika points.
>>
[2/3]

Looking over in the direction, you can see Wendy and Mary Subota in a pile of rubble next to Shiva. All of them unconscious and looking to be rather beat up, but very much alive.

“Can’t say I didn’t see something like this happening. Breakfast?” you ask Nalika.

“It’s being prepared by Alex as we speak. Most of the staff is gone and right now we’re trying to organize the masses of Succubi who are applying for jobs here.” Nalika comments.

“Ugh...” Ada moans, an icepack on her head as she sits on the table. You know that under that throbbing migraine of her’s, that she’s indeed quite happy about this development.”

“What’s the order on the agenda today?” you ask.

“Quite a few things.” Nalika says holding open three separate scrolls with her multiple arms. “First is the matter of employment in the castle, many Succubi are lining up in order to get a job, any sort of job. One’s that give them bragging rights given all the more priority. Aside from that we’re also going to need a few branches of the castle, things like a mage division, guards, tax collectors, and so on. A few of the more powerful Succubi in the city also want land deeds leased out to them.”

“Next.” you reply, wanting to hear all the options first.

“The second is that you now have a rather long line of official challengers lining up in order to beat you. Most are Succubi, a few are adventuring parties. Not surprisingly, a shocking number of Miyians are also on the list.” Nalika replies.

“Another thing that needs to be done, otherwise they’re going to be knocking down my door directly. Next.” you reply.
>>
[3/3]

“The damage from the fight in Old TO is quite extensive. At least one fourth of Old TO was damaged beyond repair from the fight against the Greed and Pride Demon forces. The library is suffering power shortage right now because the Greed Demon’s did manage to break one of their main keeps supplying power to the library, but everything else is intact.” Nalika explains.

“Next.” you reply, fingers tapping on the table.

“The last matter is how the Draugr managed to attain Miyian forces in it’s battle against Dio. We haven’t even started searching for material on this yet, but the implication of that... thing working the the Miyian’s disturbs me.” Nalika replies.

As you look around, you can see a Pride Demon sweeping the floor nearby.

“...A Pride Demon? Here?” you ask skeptically, going on guard.

“My name is Johnson, the janitor.” the janitor replies in a monotone voice.

“A janitor?” you ask.

“Actually no, I killed the janitor who had this job then gave his body a cement boot dive just in order to wear his uniform.” the janitor replies in a monotone voice back, not looking up from his sweeping.

(Which option do you want to hear about first?)
>>
>>34095313
why were the aides mad at the laminian

its not like she said anything compromising or useful

the Draugr and the Miyian's

we can delegate the slow and careful screening of potential castle employees to Erika or Sebastian or someone similar

As a note I'll probably be doing these one update at a time, unless you don't mind waiting for like an eight or nine part post.

Everyone just vote on what you feel like tackling right now is all.
>>
>>34095592
so more setting out priorities rather than going street trawling to deal with the issue
>>
I've been away for a while so this is a bit late but I just want to ask about Luna's pregnancy. They were all going on about how it's a big deal and it's Oksana's first grandchild and all that which was kind of confusing with the person from our study group:
>“My name is Nona Subota! Great Grandchild of Luna Subota herself!” Nona says.
>“That is not a accomplishment considering how much she’s slept around.” Terra says.
Was she lying? Great Grandmother isn't exactly a distant enough relation to get your family tree confused. Do the Subotas actually let people go around their Library claiming to be Subotas when they're not? There are rather a lot of people doing it from the sound of it.

>>34095361
Repairing the damage to the city seems most important. And the jobs second.
>>
>>34095592

>>34095500 here

the draugr issue is for later, when we have at least a few of the subotas around, if not other leaders, i think

the challengers seems like it should come last, because then we can just step out and deal with some of them without interrupting the meeting

that leaves employment and damage, and among those two employment is more immediately important

so, employment for me
>>
Employment to get a nice boot to reputation and all that stuff, then followed by repairing the damage with most likely said employed people.
>>
>>34095688

This sounds like a claim you could investigate
>>
>>34095688
Lets investigate this. Possibly let the Sabotas handle it once we have enough info.
>>34095361
Employment first. Lets make sure we allow some mortals into positions. Also, we need to make sure promotion here is based on merit for the important (not head-jobs). Possibly do some slight tweaks to the 'you keep what you kill' law in that regard, as we need an actual working government. Too much chaos gives everyone a headache.

Secondly, the Library.

Thirdly, the challengers.

Fourthly, lets deal with the draugr and probably Beck.
>>
[1/2]

“Nothing is going to be done if we don’t have anyone to do it. Employment.” you reply.

“The first order of business then would be creating a new level of government. The traditional way-”

“Oh lord...” you mutter as you facepalm, knowing the next details off by heart.

“...the traditional hierarchy. You’re technically a count now that you own a city, and we’ll leave it at that since calling yourself a Queen is a fast ticket for an invasion. You’d need to designate the counts of Old TO who will help manage smaller sections of lands who will then issue out Baron’s to help with smaller areas. Normally such people look after entire towns, but given the size of Old TO we can afford to make an exception for that rule.” Nalika replies.

“Wwwhhhyyy...” you mutter to yourself.

“There is also the issue of expansion now that we’re on the issue of employment. I’m sure that after our victory we’re going to have even more Succubi come to Old TO, and the city already has a dangerous overpopulation problem.” Nalika replies. “We’re also going to have major food and supply shortages, for the Pride Demon’s cut the astral gate at here and Edmonton. While making another shouldn’t take long, the rest of Earth may be hard to deal with. Some people say that Russia may be open to some form of trade however, as with a few other realms belonging to Sloth or Wrath Demons.”

“...We’re on an iceberg. We can sell water and ice, but what else could we reasonably sell?” you ask.

“Brooklyn, a little less than half the city are Succubi.” Nalika points out.

“She means exporting ‘entertainment’ of the Red Light variety.” Ada points out.

“...Oh.” you reply. “...You know that’d probably bring in a lot of tourism too, but don’t I have to worry about backlash?”

“Old TO already has a reputation of being the Succubus capital of the world, so might as well play up on that.” you father replies.
>>
[2/2]

“Lady Fredika is still in recovery, but she has mentioned the idea of attempted to seize control of outlying communities before the Pride Demon’s could try and reinforce them.” Nalika says. “There’s also the issue of your Knights.”

“...Oh yea I need to officially do that, don’t I?” you ask.

“Yes you do. Knight’s are a critical part of any demonic nobility. Knight’s sacrifice their rank in order to do things in the name of their Lord. Sending your knights out to deal with challengers carries little to no negative stigma and can be useful considering you have nearly... 165 current challengers.” Nalika states.

“Oh for fuck sakes...” you mutter after hearing that number. “I’m strong, but if I had to fight that many in one day I’d be tapped out. Hell I’d have trouble taking on 16 if they’re decently competent.”

“Oh! Oh! OH!” Mina says raising her hand, as if to catch your attention.

"...Oh yes, Brooklyn. I know you mean well, but I suggest you reinstate the Succubi population control law." Ada suggests.

"Why?" you ask.

"Three in every four people in Old TO are female Brooklyn, and right now we already have Succubi food problems. Given that you repealed the law last night, I suspect that we're going to be seeing a massive baby boom in nine months from now."
>>
Okay, things that I've thought up:
1. We might want some political structure set up with more than just: "We rule things"
So here's my proposal:
Underneath us we have an "executive council" which operates as a combination of a cabinet, legislature, and advisory body. The cabinet consists of the leaders of the various clans (or more probably, someone they appoint) as well as an elected human representative (who has to have magic so he or she isn't instantly mindfucked by everyone and their mother) and a rage demon in recognition of their assistance in cleaning out the city.
The council can propose laws (which we can veto) and will be assigned positions in the government as we see fit (asses get assigned to the department of the posterior). Oh, we can still rule by decree, so we can bypass them if we want anyway. They'll basically be in charge of updating minor laws and other shit we probably won't want to deal with anyway.
The point of this arrangement is threefold:
1. To retain all power in our hands while allowing us to delegate as efficiently as possible.
2. To give the clans, humans and local rage demons a stake in the success of our Empire.
3. to offer a potential carrot to other supernatural groups (such as the vampires) in that they can be elevated to the Council in return for services rendered, making them a council race Yes, I stole this bit from Mass Effect

2nd: We need an army, and we need equipment for that army. Thus, I propose we send Amanda to the socialites with a request that they present to us a proposal for outfitting a certain number of mortals with the best and most reliable equipment they can make by say noon tomorrow. Pay to come from our treasury of course.
>>
>>34096344
>become the whore capital of the multiverse
yes i love it
>>
>>34096410
>“Oh! Oh! OH!” Mina says raising her hand, as if to catch your attention.
Sure, she can be one of our knights.
>>
>>34096447
Uh, isn't she already someone's knight?
>>
>>34096479
She can be a double knight.
>>
>>34096344
>“...We’re on an iceberg. We can sell water and ice, but what else could we reasonably sell?” you ask.
http://www.acareerinmining.ca/en/industry/factsfigures.asp
Lots of shit. Canada is loaded with natural resources.
>>
>>34096410
Personally, I'm in favor of loosening the population laws on Non Aides, and tightening them on the aides, since Aides make up about 25% of the city's population.
>>
>>34096414
I agree with this.
I want to add that one of the first things we should do is reinstate the population control law at least until Old TO is stable.

As for Knights, I think it is obvious to nominate Mina right away. Maybe the twins as well?
>>
>>34096618
i dont think that would be a good idea

laws should be fair and equal
>>
>>34096410
Alright, so the clan leaders probably should be Counts. Our party can be knights if they wish to.

As to >>34096572 , we don't just want to sell raw resources, as that tends to lead to trade deficits and inflation. It's far more effective to manufacture here and sell finished products.

We also should consider getting some stuff going for humans, they're going to have to rough. We need to have a serious crack-down on the slavery rings, as we don't want random people picked up just because they want free food whenever.

We should also consider an entertainer's guild for humans with full rights for them, along with a basic salary. This could be a decent replacement to slavery. Beyond that, tax slaves. Those who don't want to be investigated get extra taxes and investigations to see if they're up to shady things.
>>
>>34096673
right, we make the humans be whores here, and the rest of the population be whores elsewhere
>>
>>34096648
Eh, Aides make up more than Half of all succubi because of Blatant distortions caused by the Pride Demons. Trying to gently correct those distortions is only natural.
>>
>>34096673
And as for population controls, make sure everyone knows about the taxes for families beyond a certain point (allow everyone to have two kids, but taxes above that as a % of income).
>>
>>34096724
Well, humans need reliable work and we need to make sure they're not sold into slavery. Beyond that, we need to change how slavery is done. Make sure they have rights, are paid, get a place to live, and meals...should be a pretty sweet deal.
>>
>>34096728
theres nothing particularly wrong with there being more aides than other succubi

there wouldnt be even if the number differences were much more extreme, which they are not

so, there really isnt anything to fix, and we shouldnt create problems by introducing inequality that might offend people
>>
>>34096788
Agreed, lets not target Aides in general, lets tax people. Make sure everyone knows it'll happen, make sure contraceptives are available, and make sure people have places to go to get abortions safely and abortives (herbalists and the like).
>>
Rather than reinstating the population control law, couldn't we just heavily suggest that until such time as things have stabilized, that people take a conservative approach to the subject?
Basically asking people to remember that things aren't just going to be all right over-night, and to thank them for their co-operation...
>>
>>34096817
Don't succubi have to will themselves pregnant? I don't think there's a reason for making a ton of contraceptives.
>>
>>34096841
But can the will themselves of a current pregnancy? We should also think of human births here, we want to make sure the population is stable as we'll probably be straining things with food shortages.

Something we'll need the Miyians' help with, I imagine.
>>
>>34096878
The food shortages being made worse by pregnancy is a longer term issue. We'll either have plenty of food by then, or the people will move out of the city since nothing is keeping them here anymore.

Also, we really want more humans, since the problem is having so many succubi. But again, any population gain through reproduction is a long ways off.
>>
>>34096943
My main thing here is equalizing population growth more-or-less. We don't want a decline either, though. Just something to look into for the future, we can wiggle with it as necessary.
>>
>>34097009
>We don't want a decline
Why not? More humans is good.
>>
>>34097108
Well, a decline of any population is bad, but FOOD shortages would be a problem for those who were human. Thus limiting the amount of succubi and human births.
>>
>>34097168
As long as we can trade in food, that shouldn't be a problem. And we are going to need to trade in food before any sudden population boom happens anyway.
>>
>>34097168
Whoops, forgot to say something. Succubi children are human till their teenage years, thus requiring food. We need a stable human population for the succubi here, thus the need for care.
>>34097201
Best to have small moves in a few areas, lets investigate how much of a problem it will be just in case. And yeah, trade in food will be required, along with hydroponics and permaculture.
>>
>>34097253
>hydroponics
Good thing we have a Miyian working closely with us.

Oh, and we do light magic.

Either approach would work for that. Makes you wonder just why food is so scarce.
>>
>>34097306
Because Frozen Wasteland ruled by Pride Demons, Anon.
>>
[1/2]

“I think we should then start taxing people who have more than one Succubi child then, until said child Succubus is of legal age. I made that speech in good faith, and the population boom isn’t what I’m scared of. What I’m scared of is that probably 75% of those children are going to be Succubi.” you reply.

“On the bright side, those Succubi children can be effectively treated as mortal until their Succubus traits awaken.” your father replies.

“OH! OH!” Mina says raising her hand higher.

“Yes yes you can be a knight.” you reply to Mina.

“Yay!” Mina happily replies.

“I don’t mind things being the whore capital of the universe. If anything Succubi are easier to take of than mortals. We don’t need to eat food near as often.” you point out. “The issue is that we still need mortals not only to balance out the population, but also balance out...” you give a sigh as you say this. “Food sources.”

“There’s no shame in admitting what we eat Brooklyn.” Mina exclaims.

“There are a few solutions to some problems.” Nalika replies.

“Such as?” you ask.

“The Miyian’s and Okarian’s talked about an aggressive geomancy project for Old TO and the surrounding areas. Earth in general is a poor area for Geomancy, but we can have the Geomancers perform geomancy edits on the land we control, allowing us to make nodes.”

“...And on those nodes we put keeps, excellent idea.” you reply.
>>
[2/2]

“Keeps can provide us with many things. Greenhouses, fortresses, intelligence, and more.” Nalika points out.

“Yes, but we’re going to need to decide if we want to have production, military, or population support for this.” your father replies.

“And retooling a Keep often means that the node explodes.” you reply.

“We’ll also cause some geomatic damage in the area. No where near as bad as Articus has up North, but it may cause some hazards to the land.” your father replies.

“There’s also talk of greenhouse projects being installed in the underground of Old TO. Or seeing if any more mortals would like to immigrate here. There’s no just humans, but Elves, Centaurs, Dwarves, Gnomes, and all other sorts would love to come here I’d imagine. The only thing stopping Dragonborn, Lamia’s, and Lizardmen is the cold.” Nalika replies.
>>
Wouldn't Tourism help with the food problem? It would provide a near constant flow of mortals, and possibly other demons, which can contribute to the available aether, without having to provide residence or employment...
Then again, if the tourism dries up, we would still be left with a shortage... but it is useful as an interim solution...
>>
>>34097389
But they wouldn't mind being underground. Nice and warm there.

Lets make sure we have some keeps, but we don't super-rely on them, unless we're insanely careful and work carefully with security, redundancy, and so on. They're just a bonus to our core abilities, not our focus.
>>
>>34097389
That's easy. What can be done with technology and fusion power will be done with technology and fusion power. What can't, we'll do with traditional keeps, which we won't need to change much.
>>
>>34097481
Actually, we can use a few different methods of power. Vertical Axis Wind, if done right, can produce a ton (not the shitty stuff or the tall stuff, but if you get the design right). Beyond that, Keeps work. Also, powering things through magnetic resonance works. Fusion's ok, but not awesome (and it's kinda dangerous).
>>
>>34097564
It was apparently used widely in the old world and everyone lived in peace and harmony.
Then the pride demons attacked.
>>
>>34097722
Fusion's cool in a large situation, but not decentralizing things means we make our own weaknesses. We can't fully depend on anything.

On that note, we need to send cultural exchanges to the Wrath demons, and make sure both Succubi and Human culture starts to return.
>>
I'm lost on what to update on.

Do you want to try and get infrastructure back up and running or something?
>>
>>34098149
Sure. Don't really know how it works, but yes.
>>
>>34098149
Just shouting general plans. We need to figure or what's going on with Beck before we start.
>>

We can start filling some of the Demon Lord positions and staff our Castle. Lets do that first.
>>
>>34098149

Infrastructure is going to be a long project... Right now we need to sort out the whole 'Court & Barons' thing...

Recon in force of the outlying towns is a good idea, it should also give us an idea of the size of our holdings, not to mention allowing for news to spread out about our taking of Old TO...

On a side note, Succubi should now be able to move out of Old TO into the various towns and villages in it's area of influence... That should help with the overcrowding a bit...

>>34098455
Good point. We really need to get Beck in so we can work out what the Myians would like to see done by the new administration... After all, now that we have significant political clout Beck should have little to no reason to refuse a meeting... Then again, Beck might be one of the challengers...
>>
>>34098149
>Do you want to try and get infrastructure back up and running or something?
that would be good, we should delegate that to Amanda or someone
>>
>>34098559
>Beck
uhhh

dude, Beck is involved with the Draugr...
>>
“What about getting our infrastructure back up?” Mina suggests.

“That’d take a long time.” you reply.

“A very long time.” Ada adds.

“Why’s that? I mean we can just get the Miyian’s to do it!” Mina explains.

“Amanda explained this to me, but superscience is different from mortal technology. But assuming if we could bypass that problem, there’s an issue of the resources to make said technology.” you point out. “Much could be reused or recycled, but the only person who actually knows how everything in the Old World works is Miyu.” you reply.

“Brooklyn is right. The majority of materials on how to do deal with computers and other sort of technology were destroyed by the Pride Demon’s ages ago. The only thing left intact were often books.” Nalika replies.

“The library wasn’t spared either. Any kind of book involving computers or Old World technology was destroyed, and the Pride Demons were not willing to back down for issuing that command.” you reply.

“Man this sucks! Why are they so dead set against technology!?” Mina asks.

“Because their forefathers did it this way and they apparently knew more than you.” your father replies in a bitter tone. “We could try to restart the infrastructure, but we’d need a path to follow for that at the very least.”

“Or buy off some Sloth demon technology.” Nalika suggests.

“And pay money for superscience inventions their Miyian workers probably made themselves? Screw that.” you reply.

“...I feel we’ve gone off topic. Is there anyone who you’d wish to make into the counts of the city and knights milady?” Nalika asks.
>>
>>34098585

Does Beck even know what she involved herself in when dealing with the Draugr? Could it have been a ploy by the Draugr's master to ensure the continuation of the Clan War?
Is this all meaningless speculation?
We won't really get any answers until we actually talk with her...
>>
>>34098455
So, on that note, lets arrange to start with Beck soon. Can't put that off. Beyond that, we should probably have a true clan metering and have the queens around.

Maybe start up trade talks with Wrath demons. Get things started for keeps.
>>
>>34098665
I got no concrete ideas but I feel we should appoint our close allies and friends to some positions
>>
>>34098665
The question is: Who do we know personally, and who do we trust to give recommendations?
Answer: Our study group, the leaders we trust, and the various people who are our minions and friends. Ergo, Open offer for our friends for either knight or Title, as appropriate and get recommendations from the various clans we trust. Make sure we get some Miyan reccomendations as well
>>
>>34098714
We had a prophetic dream about someone needing to be rescued right as the draugr was freed by miyians. Combined with how the Miyians were brainwashed, and it's likely Beck is working with the BBEG for the resurrection of his wife of something similar.
>>
>>34098863
Probably from Amanda or the Witch leader. Also, Who are the Major spirit powers in TO and the surrounding area besides the Succubi? We need as many of those on our side as possible.
>>
>>34098665
Each clan leader should be a Count. Put party members can be Knights if they want to be. Not sure if we want to promote put study group members, unless they really want to serve the city.
>>
>>34098947
Replace put with our, my phone is being stupid.

>>34098665

How many Counts do we need?
How many did Dio have?

I want to offer Nalika a job as a Count...
>>
>>34099046
Each clan leader should be one, as a sign of respect. Beyond that, who deserves it?
>>
>>34099097

We made a big deal about equal rights, so having a Court of only Succubi seems rather..... unequal...

not to mention, if we only need 3 Counts at the moment, there is little reason to have 6....

“Who are the other major powers in the city aside from Succubi?” you ask.

“Due to the vacuum not fully taken effect yet, there are still lots of powerful and influential mortals in the city. Titles could easily go to them. In addition to the outlying communities, we can offer the option of that anyone who willingly joins us may keep their rank.” Nalika replies.

“Or we can just make them puppet rulers if they don’t agree. ...Actually I like that option more. Keeps both the Succubi and the mortals happy.” Ada replies.

“As for major supernatural powers, the main ones in the city would have to be the Vampires, Celestia, and the Illthid’s.” your father replies.

“...I didn’t know Illthid’s had a presence here.” you reply.

“The Greed Demon’s hate their main competition, plus they’re often hostile to humans given their main diet and all.” your father replies.

“Yea, brains. I remember.” you reply. “And I thought Celestia would’ve been dead after Lord Dio attacked it.”

“Pfft, no!” your father guffaws. “It only caused them to scatter into hiding. Believe me, they’re still in the city. The fact your challenger list has adventurers on it proves it.”

“How many Counts did Dio have?” you ask.

“Five in total, one for each section of Old TO. North, West, East, South, and central.” Nalika replies. “Often they had a Count looking after larger towns, but in most cases just managed the Baron’s and Lords.” Nalika replies.

"You're the ruler now though Brooklyn, so you can set up whatever kind of system you want." Ada replies. "...Well at least before an ineffectual system collapses into itself."

"There's the sarcasm I know and love!" you reply.
>>
>>34099127
yeah, we should have one succubutt, one oomie and one other demon to balance it out

>>34099220
we could have 2-3 succubutts and the rest be other appropriate heads of their fields, not so much divided into districts, the barons can do that, but more heads of departments/ministers

though I'm drawing a blank on who to appoint to what and have to head off to work right now, good luck fellow anons
>>
>>34099220
Okay, Here's the System:
There are Two Types of Titles: Federal and Local.
Local Titles are the Traditional: You have a piece of land, you own that piece of land and work it for us.
Federal titles are modeled after the way the Succubi Queen's work in that they aren't tied to a specific location but rather to an orgainization or people, and take precidence over a local title of equal rank. For example, all of the Clan Leaders are Counts, as does a single human and wrath demon. Various federal organizations will have Lord Ranks attached to them (army, police force ect), and lesser things will have Baron roles.

The Leader of the Vampires will be confidentially informed that he can achieve Federal count rank as well, should he and his followers achieve something for the State which will make it politically possible to reward him (Probably the destruction of a Nearby Pride demon Holding and turning it over to the State), which will make him one of the dozen or so most influential people in the Empire.

The remaining Local Positions will be filled by recommendation by people we trust, Including at least 1 Count level Miyan in Old TO.

>>
>>34099553
Doesn't make much sense when 50% of the population is Succubut. There's equality and there's Affirmative action to the point of insanity.
>>34099581
I like this idea.
>>
>>34099913
well we could have equal representation from all races
>>
>>34099881
my internet was down so i wasnt here for a while

anyway, i vote for abstain
>>
>>34099932
Which would screw over the Succubi. Think of it this way: 50% of the population is Succubut, 45% is human and ~5% is all other Demons. You're proposing a 1/1/1 split between the groups. More importantly, the Succubi are the core of our power base, we have to favor them because they'll be doing the bulk of the work. Mortals are, on average, less capable than Demons. That doesn't mean that murdering one is okay, but it also doesn't mean that they'll get an equal share of power.
>>
>>34100004
yeah, the majority of the power should go to succubi

an idea would be to just make the current heads of the clans a count each
>>
>>34100004
We need to make sure that there is proportional representation, but that those that need shit get shit.
>>
>>34099553
>>34099581
One of these is based on the principal of equality of outcomes. The other is blatant bribery and votebuying.
Given that we have 165 challengers, a drauger menanace and the Pride Demons surely plotting our demise, I go with bribery and votebuying.
>>
>>34100052
That representation is proportional. Its just proportional to power, influence and support they give to the nation rather than numbers. Welcome to demonic nobility
>>
>>34100137
Welcome to the old demon nobility that got crushed by the Pride Demons. We have to change things and others to have more ability or we'll fail.
>>
>>34100208
>we have to make ourselves weaker or we'll fail
>>
>>34100234
We have less power then before the war. Far less infrastructure, while the Pride Demons are almost as powerful (their emprah is a vegetable). Things will need to change.
>>
>>34100208
No, this is a distinctly different system. One based on open rule by succubi combined with granting power and status to other groups that support the nation in order to make up for the disparity in combat power. We are essentially copying pride demon methods but offering better deals for those who support us. And being less of a prick in general.
>>
>>34100260
How is you're way an improvement?
>>
>>34100271
This. Succubi may have a large amount of power here, but the hope is that we can garner enough support with other groups that they'll help more then they hurt, and that we can raise mortals up enough that we'll have their support.
>>
>>34100294
Because the long-term gains of allowing humans enough power to support us, while in turn getting the power they need to support their own lifestyles will benefit everyone. Succubi in the Old World had future-tech and full human support, but they still lost because they were divided.

We don't have their infrastructure, tech, knowledge, numbers, or power. So we need allies.
>>
>>34100361
Which is the whole point of >>34099581
Pay attention. Also, Sand I would start writing >>34099581

You rub your forehead with your hand a bit. “Ugh... Man this is challenging. I have so many ideas in my head that I don’t know what to do first.”

“Why so?” your father asks.

“Well... I’m thinking about the idea of 1:1:1 representation, but right now Old TO is something like 50% Succubi, 45% mortal, and 5% other demons.” you reply.

“A reasonable estimate.” Nalika replies.

“I’d probably give more into the other demons category, but yes that is a fair representation of people who are not outright hostile to us.” your father replies. “What’s your concern then?”

“My concern is that if I put something like 5 Succubi on board, 4 mortals, and one other demon that all parties may not get represented.” you reply.

Ada just sighs. “Brooklyn don’t worry about the mortals. Give them like one figurehead and be done with it.”

“Ada.” you sternly say to her.

“No, listen. You’re talking about an enemy who has absolutely no qualms in using supernatural assassins and other means to take our their enemies. Having nearly half of a council being mortals is only going to be a problem.” Ada replies. “I can understand how you want to put faith in mortals here, but the fact is that you’re going to donate a large pile of resources who is going to be a figurehead at the absolute best.”

“A figurehead who’d have the TRUST of the mortal population.” Mina states. “There are still more mortals in Canada than demons.”

“Yes, but not nearly as much as other places such as South America or Africa.” Ada points out.

“Yes, but that’s exactly why we need a mortal figurehead! To show that we’re not just a group of demons who say ‘Do as we say or else!’” Mina replies.

You clap your hands together as the idea forms in your head. “I’ve got it.”

“Oh?” Ada asks.

“The ranks will be split into two types: Federal and Local. Local are akin to the traditional lords, we give them a piece of land and they work it for us. Federal titles are modeled after the way the Succubi Queen's work in that they aren't tied to a specific location but rather to an organization or people, and take precedence over a local title of equal rank. For example, all of the Clan Leaders are Counts, as does a single human and wrath demon. Various federal organizations will have Lord Ranks attached to them, such as the police and judiciary forces, and lesser things will have Baron roles.” you finish.

“Ah, the same structure the Old World had.” your father replies.

“Only less shadow ruling involved.” Ada replies.

“Don’t say that you don’t like it. I thought you would after those talks about wanting to rule in the open.” you reply.

“...You’re technically not wrong...” Ada replies.

“Then there we go. Rule Fort Hope openly if you want. Hell, have the entire area around it.” you say suggesting to Ada.

Just as you say this, you can actually see tears falling down her face and onto the ground below.

“...W-Woah... Ada did I say something wrong?” you ask.

“N-No. It’s... It’s just I’ve been waiting so... so long to hear those words...” Ada says sobbing still. “These are tears of happiness! I-I’d never imagined in my wildest dreams that I’d get a major piece of land to call my own!”

(Anything you want to say to Ada? After that, what topic do you want to cover next?)
>>
>>34100498
Here. If a Federalist government allowed for mortal growth (along with allied aetheric growth), I think it could work. Not sure if it's the system I want, but ultimately it's about making sure people get what they need, not the system being there.
>>
okay, im changing my vote from abstain (>>34099932) to doing representation by amount of power (50% succubi, 45% mortals, 5% other demons)

“Very well.” Nalika says writing something on a clipboard using two of her hands.

“...That has to be so useful.” your father comments.

“Brooklyn, I know how you feel, but slow down.” Ada replies. “Beck is the Miyian head, she's holds a lot of power on the Miyian's. Anything you do to her will cause a ripple effect down through the rest of the ranks.”

“Not only that, but you need to remember that Miyian's in the past lost nearly as much as the Ayarian's. A full brute force investigation will definitely cause some ripples amongst them.” your Father comments.

“ESPECIALLY since you're an Okarian. I have a feeling Beck is very angry at you because of such a thing.” Ada points out as she cuts into her omlette.

Current Rank structure:
Duke: Brooklyn
Federal Counts: The clan leaders, 1 Wrath demon (TBD), 1 Mortal (TBD)
Local Counts: Ada (Fort Hope), 5 People in Old TO (TDB),
Federal Lords: (Army Head, Police head, ect)
Local Lords: People who work for the local counts
Federal Barons: High ranking army officers and similar people
Local Barons: People who work for the Local Lords.

Notes: The Vampires have an open offer that if they conquer a middling pride demon Holding in the area and turn it over to us (or visibly help our empire in some similar fashion) the Vamp Leader gets a Federal Count position (making him equal in status to a clan leader).
>>
>>34101798

Calm down. I must've misread. Yes we can still do such thing, but I mainly meant for who'd control land vs who'd just have political power.

I mean look at Arum. The only thing she owns is the Laminian city. If you wanted to be technical she could legally claim her area to be all of Old TO, as her eyes and ears were virtually everywhere. Or the Church with their massive numbers of Aides everywhere.

What I (And Brooklyn) meant was which leaders would actually want to control a sizible piece of land. Some, like Fredika, won't want any as they have other things (Like her owning the Fighter's Guild in the area. She'd be happy and have her hands full enough with just that)

“Right then, that shall be discussed with the other leaders at our first summit meeting. ...Mark one down for me at the soonest available time.” you instruct Nalika.

“Of course.” Nalika replies.

“Hm... Now for the next order of business...” you mention cutting into your omelette.

“The lack of long term supplies is our most pressing concern right now. Unless we find someone to trade with, Old TO will run out of supplies in a matter of two months, if we’re lucky.” Nalika replies.

“Who are our trading partners?” you ask.

“Russia would one partner. They’d be thankful for any sort of repairs people could provide their technology or mercenaries to fight against the Pride Demons and Celestia.” Nalika states.

“I’d think they’d be excellent allies Brooklyn.” Ada suggests.

“The other would be the nearby world of Shinkoku, my own home.” Nalika replies.

“Oh? Your own home?” you ask.

Nalika nods. “Wrath demon homeworld. We do have a large number of blacksmiths, military might, or if that all fails a lot of them are very rich mercenaries who are more than willing to blow incredible amounts of money for relaxation.” Nalika suggests.

“The Sloth Demons are another, though I would fear what they’d possible ask...” your father comments.

“Beer! Ask them for Beer!” Brodin says under a pile of rubble.
>>
>>34102534
Make esquires with the Wrath demons and Russians. Maybe point out that since Valvosa has a bug up in his ass about us there's always the chance for a skirmish with pride demons? Show up here for some relaxation, get a good fight, go home. Pretty much the perfect idea of a Wrath demon vacation.
>>
>>34102534
Make immediate inquires into Russia and Shinkoku. Russia could become another front for us if we're not careful, and we/they need all of the help we/they can get.

We may want to do some trade with the Greed demons, but we'll have to be careful who we allow in.
>>
“Send out envoys to Shinkoku and Russia immediately and tell them that we’re willing to trade. Russia can get what they want with mercenaries and for the Wrath demons? With Valvosa’s bug up his ass the Wrath Demons can come here for relaxation, training, possibly a fight with the local Pride Demons, everything they’d possibly want in a vacation. I mean look at your mother.” you use your fork to point over to Shiva, still buried in rubble.

“Very well. Hopefully we’ll be able to help with food as Shinkoku has a lot food.” Nalika replies.

“Isn’t your mother from there as well?” you ask.

“Yes, and that does make it the Wrath Demon capital, but we’re very decentralized. Many of the people who live there are simple mortals just trying to make a living. Wrath Demon duels, while vicious, often take place in specified areas in order not to damage the surroundings.”

“Makes sense.” you reply.

“Is there anything else you wish to address this morning?” Nalika asks.

“Ugh... My head...” Erika whimpers as she stands back up, nursing a hangover that you don’t even want to think ab- “Ugh... don’t remind me how bad it is...”

“Very well then Erika. I want you t-”

A) Lecture Erika on the proper etiquette of being a lady, time with Sebastien shouldn’t excuse nearly 16 years of proper upbringing.

There is nothing wrong with you, Brooklyn, at all. You have more important things to worry about than something minor like this.

Hm... It’s not anything that could immediately come to your mind. This may indeed fall outside of demonology altogether. It could be something like... wait could this actually be a mental problem?

Poppycock! You, Brooklyn, have nothing wrong with you!

You *never* had mental problems in the past, but you’re not sure why they’d start flaring up now. Stress maybe?

You decide that it may be best to ask Amanda about the recent turn of events that have been happening to you. Figuring that is the case, you head off in search of Amanda in the castle. Given how you’ve slept with her a few times, finding a person you're intimately familiar with makes it a cinch to find her.

Heading over a second in the castle, you can see Amanda in one of the guest bedrooms, currently surrounded by a maze of papers both on the wall and on her desk. A few empty ink wells lay on the floor alongside a few broken quills.

“...Amanda?” you ask nervously as you approach her from behind.

“Brooklyn! This is a most horrible of occasion! With the near-complete collapse of the infrastructure in the city, we’re going to be plagued with severe shortages in terms of food for the mortal population! This is also discarding the military action that Articus will most certainly send against us! I’ve been trying to guess at how to control this outcome with the economy, but even now this is proving to be a major challenge!” Amanda says as she continues to write on the paper, in midst of her Miyian Mania.

“Uh...” you stammer.

“Brooklyn! You must do what’s best for the city! I have just the idea! Repeal ALL laws and let the free market take it’s course in this situation!” Amanda says turning around, grabbing your wrist. Looking into her eyes you can see a minor discolouration under them while her air remains all frizzled. “With the fast amount of money we’ll have we’d be able to buy anything, encourage economic growth, AND encourage the development of the experts we’d need in order to save the city!”

“...Have you slept at all?” you ask.

“No! Some of the Miyian professors at the university only sleep when they fall unconscious! Too much work to be done!” Amanda says as she quickly goes back to her desk.

Clearly we need an Economic branch to our government... Get some people with training and experience in the relevant topics and have them brainstorm ideas and offer their advice on such matters of state...
We would also need a Tourism branch if we are to open up Old TO as a holiday destination...
Then we need a Military branch headed by competent Tacticians and Strategists to help design and run the Military and the Defence of our holdings...
Other branches may be required, but these three are direly needed now. Brooklyn is neither an Economist, a Military Leader nor a Spin-doctor...

It's actually better to have someone with no experience but the right kind of outlook on things to help, as they'll be less corruptible.

You turn Amanda around in her chair, grabbing her by the shoulders and giving her a few hard shakes. "Amanda, snap out of it! We have already sent out messengers to potential trading partners. What you need to do is take plenty of rest, regular rest is very important and can be planned in advance, falling unconscious, not so much"

Amanda groans, rubbing her forehead a bit. “Ugh... You... You may be right.”

You turn her around and begin to massage her shoulders. “We’re not Aides who can live without any sort of sleep whatsoever.”

“I’m somewhat envious of how Leona stayed up during her crisis of faith for nearly a week without any sort of psychological or physical problems I could detect.”

“Speaking of psychological problems, would you mind doing a simple check on me?” you ask her. “Or are you too tired?”

“No, I could do such a thing. Such a thing is akin to basic math for one such as me, but why do you want me to do it?” Amanda asks.

“I’ve been having some minor head pains since I’ve started, and I want to know if such a thing is stress related or not.” you reply.

“Hm... Sure. Give me a few minutes to make the tests.” Amanda says going back over to her desk.

“I’ll bring up up some tea.” you say patting her on the shoulder before leaving to get some tea.

After coming back with the tea, you start the psychology test that Amanda gives you. Sure some questions are obvious, such as “Have you been under a lot of stress lately?” and “How are you feeling right now?” But some are completely out in left field. Like you’re not sure how solving math problems are related to to a psychology test, nor are you sure how describing your favorite food is related. A bit weirded out, you continue the test, putting some trust in Amanda.

“Hm... Yes... Yes these results certainly show something.” Amanda says looking over the math results.

“How so?” you ask.

“Brooklyn, when solving the proofs in questions 3, 4, and 7 you deliberately said the words ‘peasant rabble’ when I tried to sneak the question ‘What do you hate?’” Amanda explains.

“What!? That can’t be right!” you exclaim.

It is correct. Peasant are nothing but the creatures who perform labour for you, Brooklyn. Interacting with them on any scale aside from grand speeches to overawe them is beneath you, Brooklyn.

“Ugh...” you say holding your head.

“My test was only to ascertain if something is wrong with you, which I found out there certainly is.” Amanda replies, sipping her tea.

“...So I have a small Dio on my shoulders?” you ask.

“I’m not sure, but it is possible. How it got there is what I’m curious about. I didn’t have any chances to perform tests on you before you became leader of Old TO, so I’m not exactly sure what the cause is.” Amanda replies.

“Hm...” you mutter. “Any sort of danger?”

None.

“If such a thing is changing your thoughts at an unconscious level currently, there may be times in where the dormant personality may want you to do things in a specific fashion. Trying to go against this is a battle of wills, and it will only be a matter of time before it’s opinions leak into your main line of thought and belief to subtly influence how you think.” Amanda explains.

“What!? Are you serious!?” you exclaim.

“On the bright side, it should help you defend against mental attacks that go against it’s beliefs, so there’s that.” Amanda explains.

“Can you cut it out?” you ask Amanda.

Amanda shakes her head. “I only ordered your subconscious brain a few questions in order to see if anything was there. I can’t destroy anything down to that level. It’s still in it’s early stages, so there shouldn’t be any damage yet.”

“Oh for gods sake...” you mutter as you lean back into the chair.

A) This is an emergency. Get some people for Janine, rip open a portal to the shrine and have her cut it out. There is a risk you may be tracked, but it can’t be helped.
