What makes it one of the worst dates ever is of course the otherworldly being that your date puked up and is now trying to kill both you and her. Thankfully you have your own otherworldly being in your head that’s protecting you from the one that’s trying to kill you. Along with her help you’ve already managed to cut off one of its tentacles, wounding it slightly and currently you’re in mid swing on the follow-up attack.

Which manages to slice through yet another tentacle thing that it tries to block with, the limb immediately liquefying and splattering to the ground with another sizzle. You make a note to yourself, try not to get hit by the goo.

The thing screams at you again, this time clearly in pain as you recover from your swing and stand protectively over Kaede. Now that you’re recovered slightly, you can feel your friend trying to…tell you what the thing is. It’s stronger than you by a little, but it’s a wild animal with no knowledge of combat. Normally its inherent mystical ability would be flooring you anyway, but with her help you’ve actually got a slight advantage.

But you still need to be careful or it could fuck you up. Being as you are, outside of the schools protective boundaries.

You stand there as the thing lowers itself and screams again, clearly psyching itself up to attack you once more. But it hasn’t acted yet.

You decide to wait for the thing to attack you, it’s clearly going to do so soon and if you can counter it….

It doesn’t take long, your wait only being a couple more heartbeats before it leaps at you, more of those tentacle’s it seems to like using lashing out with an insane speed even as its teeth gnash at you in a murderous fury.

But compared to Karasuba, whom you’ve been training with as much as your body can take, this thing might as well have told you it was going to attack and then handed you the perfect defense plan as well.

Its attack is actually so obvious that you feel Karasuba would be upset at you if you didn’t simply take advantage of it. So you do. In one smooth motion you slide through the things outstretched attack, neatly lopping off another limb even as you then easily slide your sword into the things chest cavity. Or at least that’s what it would be if it was a human.

The thing’s mouth is mere inches from your face, screeching and breathing fetid air over you, but it’s not going anywhere for a second.

“Fuck off,” you tell it, before pushing hard and then letting the thing slide off your sword, easily recovering as it falls back, ooze dripping from its chest.

The things hisses at you as it apparently tries to analyze you, holding back as the dripping from its chest wound slowly stops. But it looks rather cowed at the moment, you’ve just thoroughly trashed it without taking anything noticeable in return so it’s rightfully wary.

You decide to not wait for the thing to move. Whatever it is it’s not a completely dumb animal so you should press your advantage while you have one.

A groan from behind you reminds you that you also have Kaede to worry about, you’re not sure what that thing did, was doing or is possibly still doing to her from wherever it is/was.

Your steps are graceful, your form fluid as you feint to one side, something any trained swordsman would never follow, but while this thing is slightly smarter than the average animal it’s still rather stupid and completely falls for it.

This allows you to get in your full power on your real attack, another slash that whips snake quick across what would be its abdomen, with another sharp movement taking off another of it’s supposed weapon tentacles, they’ve really just been easy targets for you this whole time.

Even as you attack the thing scrabbles away, clearly hurting badly at this time. It screeches at you some more as you pull back into a ready stance, the ooze now dripping from it not stopping like it was before.

But it’s a cornered animal at this point and cornered animals are even more dangerous than their normal counterparts, something that you are reminded of as the heavily wounded thing decides to leap at you once again, this time spitting and snarling even more than before, but clearly in a desperate move as it knows it is hurt.

This thing…you just want it to die. It came out at you as if you were in danger or something, but it’s really just been one giant pushover. One that seems to have been made solely to annoy the shit out of you and ruin your date with Kaede, not that she’s in your harem or anything but it’s the principle of the matter damn it.

Even with all of the ferocity of a wounded animal behind it, the thing’s movements aren’t quite quick enough for you to be worried about it. In fact it allows you to slice through most of its remaining limbs that are writhing randomly enough that they can’t support each other. You derisively bat them away with your sword, ooze splattering on the tiles all around you but none reaching you or even Kaede.

Finally after you wade through its limbs, you let the thing jump at you, mouth full of bloody fetid teeth open. You nearly feel like yawning as you thrust your sword right into the things mouth, teeth chewing on the metal for a little as it slides down the blade, what would be its brain impaled all the way through. Scratching hands attempt to claw at you, but instead quickly fall to the ground, no longer receiving a response from the thing as it finally dies, starting to liquefy and then as it completely falls off of your sword and begins to pool on the floor.

You flick your sword in disgust, flinging the last remaining bits of the thing into the puddle that is slowly spreading across the floor. Turning you see Kaede shudder once more, but it seems to you that her color is coming back slightly. Your mind also feels warm, which you think is your friend telling you that she is damned pleased that that fucker is dead and you didn’t even get scratched.

But the strange field around you isn’t gone yet, though it seems to be wavering.

There’s also…a plot point hanging nearby, pulsing eagerly. You think that means it’s not going to come back.

You…you want to hit the plot point, but you need to look at Kaede as well. So you do. Tossing your power at the point, you feel it activate even as you kneel down next to the girl. She seems to be doing ok, her breathing steady and you see her eyes flicker open as you take her head in your hands.

“Kaede?” you ask, seeing if she can hear you.

Her eyes track back up towards you, managing what you think is some kind of bleary focus before sliding off to the side.

“Grandma?” she says, eyes focusing on that spot behind you.

You almost turn, but you hear a sibilant hiss as your sword is picked up and placed against your neck. Not with the strength of an elderly woman, but something much beyond that.

“Don’t move please,” says Kaede’s grandma’s voice, except this time with none of the warmth and teasing that came before it, but more of a flat, dead tone that seems to harmonize with the field around the room, which you notice isn’t wavering anymore, “I would hate to have to kill you right now, we need to talk.”

You freeze, not being able to do anything at the minute seeing as how your hands are currently supporting Kaede and you have a sword to your neck. You don’t even have any good powers that could’ve possibly been useful in this situation and your friend seems to be raging inside of your head. You gulp slightly, watching Kaede’s eyes widen at whatever it is her grandma looks like behind you.

“Alright,” you say, not moving, “We can talk then.”

“Good,” says the voice, a hint of strange happiness filling its tone, “I’m glad to see you aren’t a complete imbecile.” You want to respond to this, but the sword on your neck doesn’t waver an inch.

“I was really hoping that you wouldn’t finish my minion off that fast, the odds of him beating you were low anyway but if I’d had just a bit more time…” a sigh, “Well then we wouldn’t be in a situation like this anyway now would we?” There seems to be a grin in her voice.

“But since you did, I’ve had to reveal myself early. It’s too bad, I kind of liked pretending to care about this little meatbag,” you can tell this is directed at Kaede, who seems to be trying not to explode from a combination of horror and pure rage judging by what you can see in her eyes, “But I guess I can just finish her off here after we’re done, that’ll finally end her sad line like I’ve wanted to do for a long time.”

Kaede’s eyes bulge at this, but you manage to catch hers and make her realize that now is not the time, not when you’re both at a severe disadvantage.

“Is there a point to this or are you just enjoying taunting us?” you ask her.

The things tone says that it would enjoy killing Kaede entirely too much, it’s not simply sadistic, it’s downright evil in a way that you don’t think you’ll ever be able to understand.

“Or I can kill you right here and be rewarded by my master anyway,” the thing finishes, “So make your choice “Hero”” it mocks.

You look down at Kaede, whose eyes would make the sun go supernova if they contained actual heat. But there is a tint of knowledge in them as she glances towards you. Neither of you can do anything at the moment, but there’s no real choice.

“Go to hell bitch,” you say to the thing.

“That’s what I thought you’d say,” comes the voice, “Pity, you could’ve been fun. It’s time for both of you to die now.”

The sword moves away from your neck, not enough for you to spin, but it’s enough for the thing to kill you. You give Kaede a grimace, then you hear the sound of metal piercing meat.

You wait for what seems like forever to feel pain, but you don’t. Instead you look down at Kaede, whose eyes are now staring above you in confusion. Turning your head enough, you see what looks like a twisted version of Kaede’s grandmother, except it’s been run through by a spear and had its neck nearly chopped through by a massive axe looking thing. The sword falls from its hands, clattering to the floor as the weapons are ripped from its body, which falls to the ground.

Behind it stands two of your angel friends, both of the ones with armor. Melodiana and Mehisha.

“John, move,” says Melodiana, as the body starts to twitch, getting it another stabbing, not that it seems to do anything.

Scrambling upright, both you and Kaede move away from the body, which stretches, oozes and creaks as it transforms into something very definitely NOT RIGHT.

You grabbed the sword as you stood and you hold it up as you watch the thing stand upright, evil intent oozing from it.

“I WILL KILL YOU ALL!” it screams angrily, limbs and tentacles all coming up in anticipation of doing all that even as the room writhes around you.

You glance to your sides, you have an angel on both flanks and Kaede seems to have summoned her pistol from before and your friend has gone cold in your head. Looks like you have a choice here, not just dying.

Melodiana and Mehisha both fly into the air slightly, drawing off some of its attention, with Kaede falling back behind you, bullets winging about your head as they impact the beast. You charge forward, able to do so thanks to the pair of angels flitting about and stabbing at the thing from all directions.

“Fuck you,” you repeat, dodging a swipe from one of its large clawed hands, “Fuck the dimension you oozed from,” a slice across its midsection draws black goopy ooze, “Fuck your stupid shoes,” a roar as Melodiana gets it with a jab from where it’s spine should be, “Fuck your damn tentacles,” spinning past a couple tentacles that graze your shoulder, “Fuck you for ruining a perfectly nice date,” it’s head cracks back as Kaede manages to hit it in the eye, “Fuck you for impersonating Kaede’s grandmother,” another swipe takes off a couple fingers that claw for you, “Fuck your stupid suits you wear,” a grunt from the thing as Melodiana takes off several tentacles in one swipe, “Fuck your teeth,” as you hold it back from chewing your face off, “And fuck HP Lovecraft for inventing you.” A shove and another dance out of the way of stabbing tentacles and everyone is clear for the moment.

Looking at your angelic companions, you don’t see anything wrong with them; they barely seem to be breathing heavily. Kaede is just fine, being out of range and firing at the thing with her pistol. You have a couple of light scratches, but you don’t think that it even pierced your skin.

The thing however if most definitely not fine; there are bullet holes in all of its limbs, the most obvious being the blown out eye, there are several missing tentacles from the thing, a large chunk of its hand is missing thanks to you and its slashed and stabbed in several places from both of your angels. It also appears to be breathing heavily and doesn’t seem to be able to stop oozing from its wounds.

It wheezes angrily at you, even as it takes a knee.

“You will die,” it says, gasping angrily, “It may not be me, but you will die. There is an army of us and we have all suffered from something more painful than something like you can ever imagine.” It spits black tar at you. “We will have your head eventually, my master will see to it personally if he has too.” It cackles at you, “I wish I could see him tear you apart.”

A nod and a couple quick gestures communicates what you want to Melodiana and Mehisha, who leap forward at the thing, with you following them. A quick minute of battle leaves you with what you want.

The thing is impaled to the ground, a spear through each shoulder, having had its remaining tentacles cut off and you slicing its arms and legs in a manner akin to cutting tendons on a person, it seems to be working just fine anyway. With a final stab just below its stomach from your borrowed sword, the thing is incapacitated and pinned, with no hope of escaping despite it snapping at you with its teeth.

Kaede is still behind you, gun pointed at it, but she doesn’t seem to get what you’re doing quite yet.

“Kaede,” you say, nodding her up, “I think it’s only right that you do this.”

Her eyes go wide in surprise, but then harden and she nods in thanks. Stepping up towards the three of you, she stands by the things head and looks at it for just a second, perhaps ruminating on the thing that wore her grandma’s face. Just as it looks like the thing is going to say something to her, perhaps something witty or biting or just the thing to spite her, she raises the gun and starts pulling the trigger.

She doesn’t say a word, as the repeated trip-hammer of the pistol goes off, but you think you might see just a bit of wetness at the corner of her eyes. Nine, ten shots…she keeps going. The pistol is obviously magical, seeing as how it hasn’t run dry yet.

In the end she fires 37 rounds, all of them into the area where the things head would have been. Would have been because after the first dozen or so it was pulp and the remainder simply liquefied it. As the gun finally clicks empty you see the tears flow from her eyes and she sobs, even as the thing joins its friend in a puddle and slowly moves evaporates.

You stand, as Kaede’s pistol falls to the floor and the angels withdraw their spears from the ground they’re buried in. Kaede is just about to start breaking out into sobs now.

While we wait, what do people think about the idea for a Iron Man armor based on the enchantments we came up with for the Witchball team?

It was revealed that witchball was rather stagnant in terms of its equipment developement. However I don't think there is any way that someone hasn't applied that sort of stuff to law enforcement or military applications. What we came up with might be bog standard military issue.

In short, I think Iron Man would be cool and give us an edge in school related fights, but outside probably has far better stuff.

so I am thinking about that ass who replaced Kaede’s grandma. As i see it there are 2 separate questions about how that went down and therefore 4 possible states of reality.
1 a:was her grandma always faked and silent without plot poking or b:if we hadn't poked the plot would it have always been her actual grandma.
2 a:is her grandmother fine and merely impersonated or b:is she dead.
1a2a this case poking the plot was a good move and means we have better tolls to help the old lady and Kaede while sticking it to these jerks.
1a2b means we lost nothing but an illusion of normalcy for Kaede and have gained a small victory over our mutual enemies.
1b2a this way leads to wacky hijinks and from an in universe perspective is the same as 1a2a though it dose mean we cause her grandam some hardship
1b2b if this is the case we did a bad thin and played into the bad guys hands allowing them to kill a nice old lady and make her granddaughter lose her only family.

I'd say Enchant the sword instead, then, but armour has one big advantage over swords in the regard of holding our enchantments - it can't be disarmed off us without stripping us or breaking it.

You almost want to let go, but something keeps your arms around her until she finally speaks.

So, I am going to use this opportunity to let you buy as many harem slots as you want, though I'm going to put a final cap of 15 on it right now. You're nowhere near close of course, but I think two a day plus three on Sunday is enough for anyone.

You could currently purchase 4 slots at the moment without diving into dangerous territory, leaving you with 146 points. This is of course up to you.
