You are Sireyi Valyenya, 18 years old, you are on your first quest.

You have retrieved the Horn of Alzurad: a legendary artefact that can call dead heroes back to fight for the holder of the Horn. But now you’re lost on another plane, trying to find your way home.

With your choices made, you follow Ilveyen to one of her workrooms. It’s a lot less painful and creepy that the last time she sculpted you. When it’s over you return to your companions and make your farewells to Ilveyen, and board the airship to Galthame.

With 3 weeks to kill, how do you spend your time?
Please pick only 3

You decide to spend some of your free time with Ebonsong. She’s now stringing short sentences together, and is very curious.

“Reyi, what this?”
“Why?”
“Lookit I can do!”
“Why?”
“Reyi, what this?”
“Why?”

You spend a lot of your time chasing her all over the airship, trying to keep up with the endless bundle of energy as the other passengers look on with fondness, or amusement.

She’s also going through what in a human toddler would be called *the terrible twos* having discovered her own free will, she’s exerting it at every opportunity.

Would she like a bath? (an activity she normally loves, having an affinity for water)
“No!”
Is she tired? (as her eyelids droop)
“No!”
What does she want to eat?
“No!”

How do you handle your draconic child?

Ah, parenting time.
Force of will, I suppose.

>>
>>34039962
>Force of will combined with misdirection

The 'terrible twos' are actually just her exploring her independence, it's important to establish who's in charge but equally as important to not be too strict or harsh.

Use misdirection instead of direct confrontation for most of the things she fights us on.
>>
>>34039898

Never. I have been misreading posts since the beginning of this quest.

>>34039962
I'd use all of them…
>Make sure she can exert her free sometimes.

Rephrasing the questions can help with a lot of her want to say no. Ask "When do you want to go to bed?" instead of "Do you want to go to bed now?" If she says something completely unreasonable, use trickery and force of will.

Negotiation should only be done once she is a bit older.

You manage to teach Ebonsong that whilst some things are up for negotiation, when you tell her to do something, you expect to be obeyed.
Without crushing her free will and individuality, you get the point across that if you give an order (not a suggestion, an order), she must obey, straightaway.

One day, after leaving her along in your room for a nap, you return to see her coughing violently, worried that she’s swallowed something too big for her you rush over, only to jump back when she spews black liquid everywhere.

The few droplets that land on you sting painfully, the majority lands on the cabin floor and quickly eats through the wood and drips to the cabin below yours. Looks like she just discovered her breath weapon.

You run and get a crew member and tell him to fetch alkaline, sand, anything to sop up the acid.

After a tense 20 minutes you’ve made sure that no one is hurt, and that the damage to the airship is halted. It only ate its way through 3 wooden decks and one silver plate.

As a dragonling, Ebonsong is immune to official punishment of course.

When you return to your cabin, Ebonsong is hiding under the bed in a far corner, making the high-pitched whining noise that passes for her crying.

“Wasn’t me, didn’t do it, wasn’t me!” she insists

How do you handle your child?

Completely understandable
>>
>>34040444
>Explain, as a dragon, you have a breath weapon...
She is innocent. It's just part of her nature. Keep something around for her to cough into and everything should be fine.
>>
>>34040530

What would work? Glass bowl?

Also pay compensation for the damage to airship I guess?
>>
>>34040575
The ogres filled clay pots with the stuff as I recall.
>>
>>34040530
I don't think dragons would be forced to use their breath weapon involuntarily after the first, totally instinctual usage.
I'd imagine the first time occurs to let the conscious mind know how to use it and open whatever passage the breath weapon flows through, possibly also to stimulate the glands in charge of producing whatever reagent that particular draconic sub-species relies upon for it's breath weapon.
>>
>>34040444
>Console her, I know you didn’t mean it
>Explain, as a dragon, you have a breath weapon...
>>
You crawl under the bed with Ebonsong and stroke her, whispering to her soothingly until she calms down, you then explain about her breath weapon and promise to help her learn how to use it when you’re off the ship.

You approach the captain about compensation, but he refuses, saying that he is not allowed to punish a dragonling in any way – and that includes accepting money for something she has done.

You also spend some time with Sofia and Jal on your trip, both individually, and together.

Having had time to come to terms with their condition, both are taking it well.
You know Jal is back to normal when she’s trying to talk Sofia into trying to sneak into your bed, with Jal in tow.

There’s the obvious stuff to talk about, but how do you handle it? And what else do you talk about?

>Since loving girls was so confusing to you Sofia, I’m guessing Hanse doesn’t have same-sex marriage laws?

Getting Sofia pregnant solves one problem, even if it creates a new one.

We will jsut have to stick with her for a while, and form a new base of operations in the island.

“Since loving girls was so confusing to you Sofia, I’m guessing Hanse doesn’t have same-sex marriage laws?” you ask her one day

She slips an arm around Jals waist “when I’m the Queen, I will make it law” she declares.

“Wot’s that make me?” asks Jal

“Princess Consort?” suggests Sofia

“’Ow many princesses ‘ave I got to consort wiv?” asks Jal “An’ you never tol’ you ‘ad sisters.”

Sofia was still laughing an hour later.

“Have you thought about your future” you ask at another time

“Nah” says Jal flippantly “Take each day as it finds me”
“I have” says Sofia “And I want to be with Jal, for as long as I live.”
Jal looks at her “And with you, Sireyi” Sofia amends her statement, Jal grins.

You try apologising for what happened, one day.
“I’m sorry about how this turned out” you say to them.
“I’m not” responds Sofia “Sure, I was surprised at first, but actually I’m happy, I’m looking forward to, to everything.”
“Yeah” adds Jal “Unless your saying yer don’ wan’ tha’ kids, hushagob.”

“What part do you want me to play in your children’s lives?” you ask one afternoon.

“Baby-sitter, flying teacher, spoiling ‘em wi’ sweets” responds Jal, instantly
Sofia gives her a long look, then answers “I think they should have a chance to know all three of their parents, don’t you? I very much want you to be a part of our children’s lives – I know you’ll be a good mother, look at how well you’re doing with Ebonsong.”

“Your children will probably be part angel, let’s talk about what that means” you say one evening.

“Yeah” says Jal “Will they, like, ‘ave wings an’ gold eyes?”
“I would be interested to know this too” says Sofia
“I’m no expert” you say “But I believe only half angels are born with wings, but” you continue, seeing their looks of disappointment “Some angel-blooded develop them later in life, and can learn angelic abilities, though it won’t be as easy for them as it is for me.”

“No Jal, I do not *owe* you a night of *sweet lovemaking* for getting you pregnant” you say at 3am, after she’s snuck into your bed, for the fifth time, that week.
Carrying her under one arm you deposit her back into her own bed “one day, I may be ready for a relationship, and I’m not opposed to the idea of being with you and Sofia, but now isn’t the time.”
“Awwww” whines Jal “An I borrowed a book from yer sister an’ some of ‘er ytoys an’ everything.”
“Good night Jal” you say, leaving.

“The Island is going to be a focus for the Drache, have thought about evacuating your people to another plane Sofia?” you say “I think I might be able to figure out mass-planeshifting with this Elemental Node”
“That might be for the best” she says, staring out over the ships railing “I mean, I grew up on the Island and I love it, but the people barely feed themselves with smuggled supplies and fishing, if the Drache were really serious, they could just starve us to death. Do you think your own kingdom, Dornmer, would welcome ten-thousand refugees?”
“I can’t promise anything” you reply “But bringing back the Horn may win me a favour from the King or the Churches, and I can at least ask.”

Your trip is uneventful and eventually you arrive in the province of Gathalme.

>>
>>34041398
Gethalme is a farming province, and the Crimson Guard has only a small presence here. Ellahi’s research indicates that there are few wards here, as long as you don’t use your angelic or paladin powers in a town, or in front of witnesses, you’re unlikely to be detected.

You all book an inn for a few days, and then you plan a trip into the countryside, to go catch a storm.

Will you go alone, or will someone come with you?

Every time after the first the DC rises, it takes a year or so to drop down to base level.

You spread your wings and fly up into the storm, your halo dancing with lightning.
You reach out with your arcane powers until you can feel the elemental fury of the storm, and then you try to tap into it.

Power rushes into you, more than you’ve ever felt before, this is the first time you’ve done anything like this without the Elemental Node to act as a buffer.

You feel like your every nerve is being electrocuted, it feels....wonderful.

You fight to avoid getting lost in the feeling, slowly drawing in as much power as you can handle from the storm, after what feels like an eternity; you glide back down to the ground, exhausted.

>Fly up into it, get close to better absorb the power (lower DC, failure results in a fall)
We'll definitely need the lowered DC for this one.

Ok, roll 1d20+10 as you fly

I just wanted it no forgotten. I always approve of more Storm abilities, I love the storm angel thing.

It really was.

Once again you fly up into the storm. This one is much, much harder to tame. As the power floods into you, you control it...just. You don’t want to think about what would happen, had you failed. Exhausted, you glide downwards and slump to the ground.

[35XP gained, rules as before]

>Onwards to the Island of Storms, I’m not risking that again soon
>Find another storm, I can handle it

You beat the new DC by 1 point, had you not been flying, you'd have failed.

Here we go.
Just before we forget it though. If we wait for the Warriors attack, we will definitly not be back in time for Jianxi.

Rolled 7

>>34042354dice+1d20+10

That's enough. Onwards, to the Island of Storms!
>>

So much XP.

Can we get some willpower now? I'd like to get that 35 Willpower and convert some demons.

After your adventures you return to your hotel, ready to catch the airship the next day. You come down to breakfast, only to be greeted by the sight of Jal and Sofia vomiting into bowls, looks like morning sickness just kicked in.

“This is yer fault” growls Jal, in between retching “never touch me again”

“Can’t you do anything about this?” begs Sofia, her face an unhealthy shade of green.

And that’s the last post for tonight. Thank you for playing, and for your patience in dealing with some of the slower NPC encounters.

I should have planned on players not picking the all-important wife discussion option. In my defence, you’ve all spoiled me by always picking all the dialogue options, all the time.

I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did and please dump any questions, comments or suggestions in the thread, I’ll check the archives in the morning. Next thread is in 12 hours, next thread will be slightly shorter (10 hours or so).

I’ll hang around for 15 minutes to answer what questions I can.

>Forge Magic Arms and Armor -10 CXP

>Righteous Weapon, Lightning Bolt, Martyr's Sacrifice -1 CXP
Divine attack that isn't technically divine magic, lightning bolt because it's there, a non-divine healing spell.
>Permanency, Telepathic Bond, Seeming -3 CXP

I hope you mean demons that prove they deserve Heaven's Rebirth.
Our goddess warned us that it was not a gift to be given lightly.
>>
Addendum: Thanks to everyone for taking the unplanned pregnancy so well, I was afraid that was going to cause another shitstorm, and almost nixed it because of that. You guys are awesome.
>>
>>34042530

Well, of course. Real demons would only be deserving after redeeming touch worked on them, though, and the only really powerful demon that's weakened enough for us to try that is the Sorcerer.

Converting one of the demon Lords would a boon for this realm's rebirth. And, well, I'm sure we will meet a lot of big demons in the future.
>>
As always thanks for running Pally. You really do a wonderful job. I only wish I didn't have to get up at 1 or 4 am to catch the beginning of the threads. But theres not much I can do about that lol.

Additionally, loved the pregnancy surprise.
>>
>>34042597

I was almost angry, but that's because I wanted the conception to happen in more usual ways. Or Root of All Life. Damn, I really do want that shit.

But since it solved some problems for us, I don't mind it. Did you plan it from the beggining or made it up just now?
>>
>>34042491

Cheers for the thread OP.
Awesomeness delivered, as expected.
>>
>>34042645
Happened in thread 13, wild magic effect
>>
Thanks for the fun ride Pal. You're aces all the way.
>>
>>34042491
Thanks for running, first of all. And I personally liked the pregnancy surprise, though I still fear its aftermath may cause contention, But we will see.

>>34041969
>>34042530
I approve of those.
And would like to add
>Ride the Worldstorm
Once we can use those again, its a far more efficient way of teleportation than Teleport.

>>34042491
>not picking the all-important wife discussion option.
Bwuh?
Which one was that, I thought we picked basically all of them?

Also, since you did miss one of my other suggestions and these ones weren't addressed as far as I can recall:

Suggestion:
>Insanity: Subject suffers continuous confusion.
It should have a dice roll post-spell to determine the form of insanity, with each form having different effects.

Worldbin Suggestion:
Possibly change 'the world you're in now' and 'the world you came from' to 'The Lost Prime' and 'Your Home Plane', respectively.
We might visit more planes in the future, after all.

Worldbin Suggestion:
Try varying up the race descriptions so the Orc and Beastmen sections don't have most of the segments begin with the race name.
Beastmen in particular.

I'm going to check through all the pastebins for errors tonight, so expect a new error dump at the end of next thread.

>Host-lust
NO
NOOOOO
But seriously, let's not just start handing out free redemption certificates.
Redeeming Touch also gets maluses to targets that don't hold regret in their hearts, so most pure demons.
It doesn't benefit from any of our stats or abilities either, IIRC.

>>34042645
I think this way is a more elegant solution, the alternative would be to rush Sireyi into an extremely serious and quite explicit relationship.
This allows them to take it slow and won't polarize the fanbase into two factions, since taking it slow is the only way to really begin a relationship with Sireyi without being OoC.
>>
>>34042706
While you're still here.
How does Velya stand to the "accidental" pregnancie thing ?
Does a father who doesn't marry the women he impregnated face any kind of stigma or dissapproval from her ?
>>
>>34042815
Only if he abandons her.

If they discuss it and want to marry: fine
If they discuss it and don't want to marry: fine
If they discuss it and both agree he won't be raising the kids: fine
If he just leaves without any input from her: Not ok
>>
>>34042811
>Bwuh?
>Which one was that, I thought we picked basically all of them?

Discussion with Gulkil Fernahcs, the guy who lost his wife to Hanandrirac.

One player picked the wife option, then changed his mind, another picked it just after I'd posted the response.

Other stuff: I'll look at that in the morning, thanks for checking, as always.
>>
>>34042969
Oh, that wife option.
I thought you were talking about some kind of option everyone missed when talking to Jal and Sofia about the pregnancy things.
See you tomorrow morning, OP.
>>
>>34042811
>Host-Lust

Uh, no, man. Did you not read what I said? Only important and powerful demons, who truly shows regret would be converted.

Converting everything in sight is just dumb, yeah. Granting nerfs to demons who resist conversion is fine too, though.
>>
>>34043096
'Host-lust' is a ongoing joke between me and Mathrian, don't take it too seriously.
I mostly understood your post, though the phrasing was a little odd.

My only real points were that we need to force the demon to experience regret with roleplay and fellowship checks before trying to use redeeming touch, and we should only use Heaven's Rebirth on demons that have proved that they're genuinely trying to redeem themselves.

Oh, and by 'maluses' I meant that the DC on our cast of RT increases as a result of their lack of regret, not that it would nerf them.
Though I'd imagine being flooded with raw positive energy likely isn't very good for a demon's health.
