"Rise."

A voice awakens you from the darkness that you now comprehend. Still blind, but aware. The sound lingers in your mind for a moment before fading, and you usher back into the black.

"Manifest."

That voice again rips you from the void, this time with a greater sense of awareness. You can discern colours, but not shapes. The darkness ebbs back to reveal a menagerie of strange new sensations. A warming from the lighter parts of your comprehension, and a cooling from the darker regions. The darkness comes to claim you once more before that incessant voice casts it away.

"By the power vested within me, I command this object to be imbued with arcane energy. Heed my call and obey!"

With this third uttering, the colours around you seem to solidify and form distinctions. They are separate objects in some confined space to which you inhabit. And there above you is the source of the voice; a sullen thing in darkened thin binding around its' shape. It regards you intently, but not fondly.

A question comes to mind. The first desire you ever feel, for knowledge of form and function.

What are you?

>Symbiote thingy it is then.

You comprehend your form as a set of protective coating; a thing worn by creatures such as the sullen thing before you. You comprehend your appearance as linen cloth in a humanoid shape, and everything that entails. But you feel this is merely a trick of vision, for you do not feel bound to this form such as other objects are bound to theirs. But the will to change is not your own, or at least not yet. Perhaps the talkative creature knows more.

With your form deciphered, it now becomes a question of everything that is not you. The surface below you, the object in the distance. You appear to be on some kind of small flat surface with four legs supporting it above a harder surface. The world is small and dark, with filters of light streaming through small cracks in the edges this world. Many objects lie around, perhaps sentient as well; you do not know yet. The creature in linen cloth similar to you moves to hold your form.

>2) Remain silent and wait.

You decide to remain silent. This creature may enjoy chatter but that is not your way. This creature has not yet earned your trust and will be dealt with suspicion until you can define its' true nature. It grips your form with weak but firm hands and holds you up into the air, observing intently.

"Has it worked?", the creature mutters to itself, "I felt the energies pass into the garment, but how should I test for the power?"

It seems to be at a loss for the moment, but you do not blame it too much. With vision alone, you look no different than the rags it is wearing. But from your new vantage point, the distinction is clear; you are composed of cells that act under your influence. They can shift and react to your calling, but you feel that they are weak and frail at the moment.

"Oh! How stupid of me, I should use that." The creature casts you back to the table and seems to move to a different part of the world. A thin extension of its body reaches out and grasps a protrusion on a different coloured part of the wall, twisting it and pulling it aside to reveal a hole in the universe to which it absconds. This world may be larger than you thought, or perhaps this is a powerful creature indeed.

>4) Become neatly folded on the table.

The creature that cast you aside neglected to return you to your former position, so you will take it upon yourself. Your folded shape was comfortable and strangely fitting, and you very much wish to return to that position. You reach and attempt to influence the cells that form your body. Rather than attempting to shift, you command them to move; to pull yourself back up onto the table and assume your folded form. It takes a bit of effort, you are still weak from your sentient awakening, but the task is simple enough that you manage through. Once back on the table, you carefully position yourself in the center and fold yourself neatly. You feel warm and comfortable, as if you could remain this way forever. But...

"What is this?" The creature says, having returned from his hole. Under those arms you see he grips stacks of scolls, containers and a small crystal ball. He quickly moves to set them aside on the table and instead keenly observe you once more.

"I don't remember folding it back up." It scratches its head. It doesn't seem to have put two and two together as of yet.

>3) Observe the objects he ascertained.

The creature bores you, but these the objects intrigue. The scrolls are furled so you cannot properly read them. Your vision and awareness does not seem bound to any part of your body but instead seems to operate in a small area around you. By squeezing in between the rolls of the parchment you can discern single letters but this is too awkward to read properly. The bags are simple enough to observe, although dark inside. They appear to be filled with all manner of objects and materials. You recall seeing the word 'ingredients' plastered on some of the pouches; something you vaguely recognise as elements used to create something.

The crystal ball is the easiest to ascertain. It is perfectly spherical and made of glass, with a golden base to hold it steady. As you peer into the glass it seems cloudy and shifts with your every look.

"You seem to be progressing nicely." A voice speaks within your mind. No other creatures seem to have entered the room or created any new holes.

"How adorable. Cast your gaze back to the crystal ball, child." You hesitantly do as the voice suggests and gaze back at the orb. The smoke inside has reformed to a face that is now gazing back at you. It structurally seems similar to the creature, but is smoother. Fairer.

Silence has served you well until this point. Or perhaps it has not, you are unsure whether you are doing well at life. The face seems amused in either case.

"Shy, are we? I must admit I didn't expect that. Usually when Arius attempts to create an artefact it acts with all the tact of a newborn baby. Although I do prefer the silence to the ranting and raving of 'Who am I' It grows tiring." The face speaks plainly, but does not use the sound that the creature does. It speaks directly to you, bypassing the vibrational communication entirely. You wonder why the creature bothers with such a roundabout way of speaking.

"But I suppose you are dying to know... well, everything. I'll start small. That is Arius," Her smoke gestures to the creature, "A self-proclaimed 'Miracle Worker' entirely ignorant of his own successes. You," the smoke gestures to you, "are the product of his machinations. A weapon to cast down those who would defy him. And this, " the smoke now gestures to all, "Is the dingy tower he calls home. Any questions?"

You remain defiant of this obsession with talking and instead decide action is the best course. You defly unfurl from your folded position, urging your body upright and cast your form to the wind. You can feel a cooling breeze pass through your folds and lift your seams to the air, flapping defiantly in the small amount of wind allowed in the tower. In reality, this isn't much but you still manage what you would define as an acceptable level of dramatic flair.

The ball does seem surprised, and Arius has finally taken notice.

"Oh, it did work. That's quite a relief." He stands, legs apart and coughs out some phlem before speaking further.

"I am the great thaumaturgist Arius! I have created you to serve me and destroy my enemies. Your will is my will, this you will comprehend or be cast back into the void from whence you came." He seems rather proud of himself.

You seem to quickly be becoming a mute. Arius patiently waits for an answer. On second thoughts, patiently is a tad generous for how long decides to wait. Cleaning out some wax from his ears, he leans in closer to hear the non-existent reply.

"Hm, maybe it can't speak." He turns to the crystal ball instead. "Clarity, can you see if the garment comprehends me?"

The crystal ball regards you for a moment before turning back to Arius. "It can, and does."

"Well then why does it not respond?" He places both hands on the table, angrily staring you down.

"Perhaps it cannot."

Arius turns to the ball. "Say again?"

"Perhaps it cannot respond, master."

"Ah, that is a bother. I don't much fancy a one-sided conversation." He waves a hand at you flagrantly and instead goes to his hole in the wall.

"Clarity, inform the artefact of its' duties. I shall make the Duke pay for his insolence before sunrise!" And with that, the hole is closed, but you still hear sounds from outside. The crystal ball warmly observes you but does not say anything further. The room feels quiet.

You feel as if this is your purpose, so you may as well attempt it. Summoning up your will, you command your body to twist at your call. To shift your material and even form. You strain under the pressure of manipulating your body but feel it start to give way. Your static body starts to jitter and warp, until at last your will exhausts you. Gazing upon your work, it is less elaborate than you had hoped but still promising.

Your linen make has been altered to a more silken appearance. You still consist of a long masculine tunic, but your shoulders are now raised and somewhat pointed like jutting spines. It is not much, but it is a start.

With that dealt with, it may be time for some introspection. You fold into your position, letting your mind wander and ponder your existence. You comprehend the world around you but your knowledge is scattered and incomplete. Some objects seem second nature to you, but others simply elude your understanding. How the wizard exists this room baffles you, but the words on his scrolls are plain as day to you. Perhaps this knowledge will come with time; you know not. As for a name, if you have one it escapes you.

"You seem to be settled nicely." The Crystal Ball of Clarity informs you. "So shall I tell you of your purpose?"

Clarity seems to consider your silence reason enough to continue.

"Well, I have already informed you of who I am and where you are. Arius has setttled in a forest known for its arcane connections in the hopes of gathering power and becoming a Court Wizard. Or at least he hoped to until the Duke found his antics more amusing than awe-inspiring. I am told he offered him the position of Court Jester instead, which drew no end of ire from his considerable ego." She seems to gaze into space whilst talking about events she was not present for,

"And so he has sought revenge. Not of the bloody kind, but to show the Duke the error of his ways and impress the entire court. For that end, he has concocted you; a garment he specifically designed to be capable of shapeshifting into whatever form the wearer wishes. As I can see from your previous attempt," she glances at your pointed shoulders, "You seem to have a slight grasp over this power yourself, but I imagine a wearer will produce greater results."

"I imagine Arius is getting ready as we speak. Well... as I speak." She smirks. "I will inform Arius that you understand and will accompany him to complete his mission. Maybe he will succeed, maybe not. I feel that may be up to you."

You can hear the wizard rustling around outside the room and fear it will not be long before you will be off.

You spend the time you have further attempting to refine your art. I would be most useful if you could learn to shift under your own power instead of waiting for a wearer to command you. You attempt to refine your changes from before. It takes some time, but you seem to have greater command when you shut out outside interference. A second thought occurs. This creature Arius pretends to command you and will likely change your form to his will; a thought you do not enjoy. As you have deciphered, concentration is key to your power so perhaps you may leverage more influence if the wearer themselves is distracted. You decide to contort the shape of your body to be unfitting for the wizard, with rough edges and small pricks on the inside. Outwardly, you still appear fine, if delightfully silken. But you are now quite uncomfortable to wear. Particularly around the torso

>>33997496
>>33997539

For a last measure, you decide to break your silence and attempt communication. Clarity seems to have a grasp of talking without sound, so maybe you can attempt that as well. Your attempts are much like your first shapeshifts; unfocused and clumsy, but you manage to sputter out a question for the orb. It has difficulty understanding you but is delighted to receive a response regardless.

"Well, you're trying at least. No, Arius did not create me. I have been for a long time and likely shall be so as well. I do not recall my creation; I did not have the luxury of a guide as you do. I hope you will make the most of your life." Her words seem to depress her, but she remains pleasant in tone.

The door suddenly flies open as Arius appears once more, clutching a wooden staff with a translucent crystal in the terminal end. It appears gnarled but sturdy, with an oaken finish. You cannot sense a sentience from this object. The wizard also bears a number of satchels on slings to which he deposits on the table.

"Alright, I think that's everything. Oh how I have waited for this day." He taps his feet excitedly, performing a slight dance to hold back his excitement.

"So many failures, and now, the one thing that will assure my reign as magician supreme." He begins to disrobe, casting his garments aside apart from his underwear. His appears frail and old, hunched over and a victim of years of biological ravishing. His hands grasp you and he pulls you over his head.

As the wizard struggles to pull you over his head due to your impromptu shifting, you decide to billow for dear life. Your tassles fly up into the air and sweep dramatically in the wind. This does have the side-effect of hampering his attempts to wear you.

"Argh, I thought I closed that window, and I thought this thing fit last time I checked. How would an enchantment even shrink something..." Arius ponders this as he struggles to pull you down.

After a few seconds of struggle, Arisu pulls his arms through your sleeves and stands triumphantly, if a little awkward. He scratches his side angrily, trying to even out your creases to no avail.

"Blast it all, next time I'll have to make sure to pick something less millable when I enchant something. Ah, no matter though; a moment's discomfort for a lifetime of power. I'll gladly bear it." He snatches up a few pouches and slings, fastening them to you, after which he picks up the staff and a large pointed hat with a wide brim. Opening up the wall, you finally are allowed through to see what lies beyond the small room. A glance back allows you a vision of Clarity's ball waving you off before the door slams. The next room is quite like the prior, but less crowded and with a carpeted floor and spiral staircase in the corner.

The room is filled with the stench of old paper and furniture, along with the actual objects themselves. Very little seems to ventilate the place. All of that seems to melt away once he opens this final hole and you step out into a very different sight.

Green is all you can see at first, for your senses are bombarded with it. There are plants everywhere; littering the ground and heavens with foliage and grass. The noise is astounding at first, but seems to normalise once you become adjusted. There is the chirping of some other creatures distant in the forest, the low rumbling of nearby water flow, and the great blowing of wind. Real wind; the kind you can properly billow in! It forms a treat for your engorged senses that you barely notice Arius leading a small four-legged pack animal out from a small hut beside his tower. A tower that seems a lot taller from the outside.

He saddles up the horse and rides off down a small overgrown path through the forest. Arius seems to have a firm grip of the creature but you feel his frail body pained at each bump. It seems some of his senses have merged with your own, as you can see and feel what he does. You do not know if this means he can see what you do yet.

You focus your mind, which proves difficult on such a rigorous ride. You feel that your power is definitely leant to Arius right now, but he too clouded to make potent use of you. You have your doubts whether he will be able to produce anything of great significance in his current state, but perhaps in a more silent and stationary environment he will lend considerable influence. Regardless, you can feel some of your attempts to make him uncomfortable ebbing away as his unconscious mind wishes it.

The pouches seem securely fashioned to you. A shape shift my remove them, but may produce some ire from Arius.

You attempt to reach out and grab this steed. Surprisingly, you now recognise it as a horse; specifically Arius' horse Windrunner. Although it doesn't seem particularly fast. It seems your donning by Arius has given you some of his knowledge, but it seems to trickle in slowly and focus on what you are concerned with most at the time. Again, you are unsure if this is a two-way deal.

For now, the horse seems out of your reach. Evidently you can only touch things that are wearing you.

Those options, while tempting, may prove bad in the long run. You decide to remain silent and ponder for the duration of the ride.

It does not take long before you have left the forest and enter what appears to be a large, sloping valley. You can spy outcroppings of forests and quarries in the distance amidst the backdrop of a towering mountain range. The valley consists mostly of rolling plains with the occasional brush leading to forests that spot the region further to the north; the direction to which you ride. To the south you can see the forest you just left, as well as Arius' tower shrinking in the distance. The road becomes more sturdy and maintained as you ride northward.

After a few minutes you can spy what appears to be a city to the northwest, flanked by rolling fields of farmland and flowing rivers fed by the mountains. The trail leads directly to the city, allowing you to observe the fields as you pass by. many farmers tend the land here; human like Arius, though you spy what appear to be sleeker, pale-skinned humanoids and the occasional quadruped pulling equipment. Paying close attention, you even spot some brutish green-skinned creatures here and there, kept close watch by various farmers and iron-clad humans. Some people stop their work to regard both of you... well, one of you to them, as you pass by, but none give more than a few moments notice. The males seem to be working fields whilst the women are nearby tending to other duties.

Your ride ends just outside the entrance to the city, where a large stone wall flanks the entrance. Two humans in steel and iron chainmail hauberks and helmets flag Arius down.

"Halt. What is your business in Highmill?"

The business of these people does not interest you much and you cast your gaze back to the farmland. It seems to stretch on for quite a while. As you focus on it, Arius' mind seems to lend you a few facts about various produce that farm here, but it seems he does not much care for the working class.

Closest to the wall there seem to be a few rich farms, fed by a moat that encircles some of the wall. Men with shovels seem to be digging out more earth accommodate for the expansion of this trench, but the farmers are using the water regardless. None of the farmers seem particularly interested in anything other than their work. The farms further out appear more derelict, with some having no farmers at all.

As for this town, Arius seems to know more. Highmill, as the guards called it, is a fairly new city constructed in the wake of this valley's discovery by a larger empire. A few cities nearby form a small trading route that feeds further west into the old kingdom. The soil is rich and the land is flat, so perfect for their construction and people seeking new lives. However as it is new, the garrison is small and many positions are not yet filled. A fact Arius has been trying to exploit.

"It's me you fools, Arius the Great. I have come to show the Duke my true power." You are woken from your ponder by Arius' words.

"Ehh, can't seem to recall anyone by that name." One of the guards replied with a confused look.

"Of course not, my legend is yet to reach this place, but you will be sorely mistaken if you do not allow me passage." A grin spreads across his face.

"Look old man," the other guard speaks, "We can let you into the city but we're not going to escort you to the Duke. He has better things to do"

You can sense Arius preparing to use your power to bend them to his will.

That does seem appropriate. You summon up your will and you tunic flares up at the edges, whistling the wind around your folds. You lack the freedom to billow like a majestic cape but you do well enough to look suitably dramatic as Arius grins. You also attempt to fold but find it quite impossible in your current state of being worn.

>>33999449
>>33999628
>>33999680

Using your will for that, you seem to lack the fortitude to properly deny him access to your power and you feel your body shifting heavily. This transformation is far more elaborate than those you have attempted up until now; it seems Clarity was right about a wearer having greater influence. Your silken body darkens and elongates, stretching out to touch the ground. The details on your shoulders grow more elaborate and, Arius evidently having liked the shoulder spikes, lengthens them to the sides, forming a wide brim off of either shoulder. You now look the part of a suitable wizard robe. It aggravates you to be used, but you do have a firmer grasp of how to shift properly.

To complete the look, Arius places a hand in one of his pouches and retrieves a glass vial with what looks to be bottled light. With some hand movements, he casts it to the ground and produces a small shockwave to surprise the guards, who step back.

"Perhaps this is a more fitting look for a wizard; one you were expecting?" He says with a snide grin. The guards are speechless, evidently not used to magic and sorcery.

"What, griffon got your tongue? Lead me to the Duke or I shall be forced to discipline you!" He points his staff at the hapless guards.

"R-Right away sir," one replied, fearing magical recompense. Arius seems less focused on you right now; revelling in his own power it seems. If you were going to influence your form, now might be an opportune time.

With Arius more focused on his own accomplishments, you focus on shifting back to your silken form, as well as altering those shoulder spikes. It doesn't take much concentration to shift back to silk; you're fairly used to that trick by now. The spikes are also fairly simple for you to manipulate

>>34000000
>>34000051
>>34000091

You also subtly add a 'certain' pattern to the silken lining of his cloak. Whilst not immediately apparent, anyone looking intently at the stitching and details may notice male genitalia engraved in the robe. The pattern is faint enough that you can easily change where, how many and how large this pattern appears with little effort.

Arius doesn't seem to notice that, but he does see the shoulder spikes flare upwards, making it look like flimsy wings. The guards still regard him with some fear and do not raise any questions, but Arius seems annoyed.

"Damnible robe," he grunts, pulling the spikes down with his hands, only to have them flip up again. "I must learn to solidify these forms properly. If this thing continues to act of its' own accord it may cause me problems. Perhaps that sentience effect was more trouble than it was worth." He grabs at the robe and seems to feel the silken lining.

"Hm, soft. Not a bad side-effect I suppose." With a slight smile, he continues into the city, led by the guards.

Inside the gates, the city proper begins. The streets are lined with cobblestone and busting villagers hurrying to and fro, of all shapes and sizes. The vast majority are human but you spy a few other races here and there in the crowd. Buildings line either side of the main road, constructed from sturdy timber and stone foundations; still fresh from their construction and so present a very appealing look to the street. Side roads curve off into alleys and other streets, less crowded and lined with buildings. Many have foundations still being laid.

The road brings the two of you past a central hub where a large podium is surrounded by busy markets. It is incredibly loud; people hocking wares and pulling people by the sides to try their products. Fresh produce and furniture, books, jewelry and entire animals are being sold wholesale here. Arius regards most of it with contempt but spies a few amulets with desire.

"A few enchantments could make them quite the purchase." He rubs his chin then turns away. "But why bother when I have a garment that could become anything I require it to. Robe, concoct me some riches worthy of my future station."

You agree with his request and decide to manifest all the jewellery that you see on the stand. Your material around the neck begins to bubble and stretch out, detaching from the main whole and shifting colour and composition. It takes some time; you have never attempted anything metallic before and it feels very different to the silks and linens. There is such weight and structure to metal, it seems. When you are finished, Arius is adorned in the finest jewels that a sentient robe could think of... perhaps a little bit too many.

His chest weighs down even further than before, exacerbating his hunch and probably doing terrible things to his back. But Arius seems to worry not, he is far more impressed by the menagerie of adornments he now possesses.

"Yes, this will do nicel~" The two of you are suddenly bumped by a child running past, almost knocking Arius over. He steps back and glances at the child, only to find it has already disappeared into the crowd.

"Who would let a child lose in this kind of crowd. What kind of world are we living in." He scoffs and continues on his way towards the castle.

The crowds splinter off as you approach the castle of Highmill, or at least what of it has been constructed. The foundations of stone have been finished but much of the inside is still under construction. You can hear the omnipresent thud of hammers on wood and stone, and the grunting of labourers lifting heavy loads. The portcullis raises at the two guards' order and you step into the courtyard where much of the castle's denizens are working. Arius had picked a time he knew the full court would be in attendance.

He stands just outside the door to the court where the Duke and his men are holding a feast. Arius spends a bit of time to relax his nerves and properly grasp your power.

"This is it. The moment of truth. Do not fail me, garment.

Whatever your feelings towards Arius, he is your main method of interacting with the world for now so you should do all you can to assist him. As you can feel when he initiates a change, you will try to assist him with forming it.

He takes a deep breath and pushes the doors aside to the court. Inside is a large stone hall with granite pillars and a hard wooden floor, well-cleaned by the servants of the castle. Two long tables flank either side of the hall with the men and ladies of the Duke's court paying homage to him and feasting in celebration. The Duke and his wife are seated opposite the door on a large throne of oak and gold. The Duke himself looks to be a man of his fourties, with hair just starting to grey and a warrior's frame not yet visited by time, but certainly by quite a few layers of fat. he has a stern and long face but bears a warm grin to which others seem to find delight. He is dressed with a fur robe with the fineries of the court and a silver circlet on his head, to which Arius' mind informs you is the sign of his station. His wife is seated beside him, dressed in furs and finery just as he is, but bearing no heargear.

The Duke actually seems to smile when Arius enters the court, and he raises his hands.

"Do my eyes deceive me or has the fantastic wizard come to grace our court once more?" He speaks in a boisterous tone that seems to rumble the air, catching the attention of the court. The talking seems to subside somewhat as the members of the court regard Arius. You even catch some grins and sniggers out from the crowd.

"The great wizard as I remember introducing myself last time." Arius makes doubly sure that his jewels are showing.

"Ah yes, and now you visit us in far grander garb. To what do I owe this visit then? Come to take me up on my offer?"

>1) Observe the court/mindleech Arius for info

Having all the facts will allow you to operate better in this environment. You focus on the court, not on a specific person, but probing Arius for information or memories. In this atmosphere, his secrets flow freely to you. You see the hazy image of the last time he attempted this, inter spliced with odd interference; employing some tricks and magic, offering his services as a wizard. He was cocky and arrogant, but the Duke was indignant of the magic itself. Without knowing his mind, you cannot hazard a guess as to why that was, but from Arius's perspective he was simply dismissive and rude, offering him a position as court jester, as Clarity said.

>>34001160
>>34001161
>>34001023

You once again try to reach out to others, grasping at the minds of the court. In this atmosphere of intent focusing, you actually manage to gleam some details from members of the court, as if you were chipping off pieces of memories for yourself. There are specks from their lives, their emotions, and even their current thoughts, all fragmented and weak however. You do seem to get a gist of how they feel towards Arius: wariness. You also catch infrequent glimpses of the marketplace for some reason, close to ground level.

Arius casts his hands up. "You treated me with scorn and humor before, but I assure you my sorcery is no laughing matter. I come once again to pledge myself as court wizard if you would have me. But," That familiar smirk again plasters his face, "Then I may be forced to teach you what a magician is capable of."

Despite his assurance, the Duke still seems amused. "Just as well, I'm sure your tricks would wear thin. Guards, take him away."

At this, you can feel a familiar surge of power from Arius as the guards approach. You can feel a far more violent intent from him.

You decide to assist Arius with his attempt, but to curb the intent for violence. You focus very hard on not harming anyone, hoping it will make a different to his decision.

Regardless, two guards approach him from either side and Arius glances over his shoulder. A single hand flies up and you feel yourself unravelling. It is a intolerable feeling, not like the mallible shifting you usually perform. The sleeve unravells into four separate prongs that harden at his will. At first they look to become sharp, but instead harden into solid masses. You spy his hand grasp a small vial, identical to the prior one, and he spins around to assault the guard.

"Begone, fool," he cries out as the four prongs crack into the guard's side, causing him to buckle in anguish. The vial, released, smashes upon the floor, releasing a shockwave that floors the hurt guard and knocks the other backwards.

"Or else you shall feel my wrath." Arius adds, reforming the sleeve. He glances back at the Duke and smiles. The man looks grim.

"Now what should I do to you, young fool?" Arius ponders a number of ways to strike back at the Duke. Ideas that flow to you to influence.

It occurs to you that you never concerned yourself much with the staff Arius wields. A thing that you had thought simply a method to prop himself up with a bit of egotistical flair thrown in. You push his thoughts towards the elemental powers contained within,

On cue, Arius raises his staff towards the king and seems to grip it tightly. You feel a surge of power from the crystal end, not dissimilar to energies that govern your ability to shift, and a sudden burst of light emanates from the tip. With a flash of searing light and subsonic crack, bolts of lightning erupt from the staff, scorching the court hall. Sparks and white fly as the wood is stripped from the walls and stone rendered black and charred. They are chaotic and frightening, sending many members of the court into hysterics at the display. Garments catch alight and plates fly into the air as the ravenous streaks tear the hall apart. Many sturdier members of the court hold fast and look to arm themselves fruitlessly whilst others stand back or attempt to flee. Even the Duke himself seems taken aback by this display. Arius did not use this level of force last time he attempted a power grab.

Once satisfied with their reactions, the lightning storm subsides, leaving them standing in a scorched hall of deafened ears. Arius himself utterly spotless in the centre of the hall to which the scorch-marks extend.

"Was that sufficient enough for you, my Duke?" Arius scoffed, arms abreast and mouth wide with laughter. The Duke is speechless for the moment. Had he gone too far?

The court is silent, save for the crispy sound of smoking wood. Arius, who had seemed the fool before, had demonstrated power unlike the court had ever seen, and your own senses inform you that he wasn't done quite yet. Deciding to just 'sit back' and watch. Although he soon begins to force your power to act.

The shoulderblades extend far longer than they were before, twisting and coiling into five separate points each. They lengthen on long black silken cords thicker than treetrunks, forming a pair of dark, prehensile hands that tower over the people of the court. He steps forward, at a brisk pace but taking the time to soak up their reactions. Step by step he approaches the Duke until they are face to face. The great hands grasp either side of the throne, gripping it firmly. Strangely, though they are of your body, the hands feel far more under Arius' power than they do yours. In this position of strength, you have never quite felt so... powerless. Even your billowing has subsided to a mere flap.

"I will admit this is is going a bit further than had intended, but I cannot deny this power is... intoxicating." He is eyes light up for a second as he regards you.

"But do not be alarmed, my Duke, for I wish not to depose you or bring these people any harm. That display was merely required to receive the proper attention I desired. With a little personal touch thrown in for good measure."

Arius steps back and bows to the Duke, forming his hands graciously. The Duke, retaining his dignity, stands to look over Arius. His face is grim, but with a hint of fear.

This cannot go on. You may be on Arius' side, but your body is yours to command. Your will is your own, not his. You extend your control over your body and wrestle it back under your influence. As you extend, you feel a strange pushing force, warring against your own will. You recognise it as Arius' own. It overwhelms your power and forces you back to a smaller spot with even less than before. Still, with what little power you have, you can still influence something...

The Duke is hesitant as Arius stares him down, eyes mad with power.

"I think that I... was~ Wait, what is that on your robe?" Arius seems to break out of his ego-centric trance to glance down at what had caught the Duke's attention. A very visible outline of a penis was now visible on the front of his robe. Crudely drawn, but genitalia all the same. The wizard's eyes went wide and skin pale as he noticed the emblem.

"A... spearhead, your grace." Arius replied, flabbergasted,

"A spear? But looks more like~" A magical staff suddenly occupied the Duke's vision and he gulped. "No, a spear. Exactly like a spear, yes."

"As I said before, perhaps I had been eager and foolish in my words before. I would gladly have your power beside me, rather than... before me." He replied, kowtowing to Arius' might.

Another attempt must be made. You extend out your influence, slower this time and with more tact. You feel some give as you extend further out but by this point Arius' will feels like a solid wall. You're having a hard time discerning the separation between you and his flesh and bone. If there even is a separation anymore...

With frustration mounting, you mount your resistance in the form of bunny ears that sprout quite promptly from atop his head. Arius steps back from the Duke, putting his hands beside his chest.

"Wonderful. I think I shall take the tower far to the east if you don't mind. I shall also need someone to gather my things at the southern tower in the Wesler Forests. Furthermore," His demands cease one the bunny ears droop down over his face, obscuring his vision. Arius shakes, barely able to contain his rage, and instead manifesting it into his prehensile hands which reshape into bladed appendages. They move with lightning speed and slice through the ears that you sprouted. The pain is excruciating as you watch a part of yourself wilt away. The ears dissipate in the wind, returning back to the magical aether from whence they came.

Regaining his composure, Arius takes his leave of the court to move elsewhere in the castle, confidant of his position. He steps out into a secluded alcove and glares down at himself and the grotesquity on his chest.

"Did I not say that I was your master, and that your will was my own!?" He seethes through gritted teeth. "You have no right to anything other than my ambitions. Is that understood?"

Your silence only serves to further aggravate Arius. As does the billowing.

"Then again, maybe I need not heed a ridiculous garment's will. I was restricted in that tower, but now I have access to the entire castle's resources. And also," Your body reshapes at his command, forming dark gauntlets around his hands. "I have 'you'. Well, a you that obeys orders."

He moves to a secluded room in the castle. The air is stale and amidst with bark and dust.

"The intoxication I felt before, I now comprehend what that was. I sought to create a biological armor, you see. A second skin; one to protect me against all threats and bring me up in the world. And I feel it; this second skin, for there is no other way to describe it." You begin to feel a tugging at your body. Your own remnants seem to be extending you; using your own defiant will against you to separate out your body.

"So while you may not answer me, I can feel your thoughts just as you feel mine." The parts of your body you have influence over are now almost entirely separated from Arius.

"I gave you life, little spirit," the bladed appendages rest between the connections of your body to your former garment. "Allow me to append that error."

With a quick swing of black bladed metal, you feel a familiar void grip your mind. The light begins to darken and the colors fade. Shapes muddle together and voices are distant.

You are in darkness. Until...

A faint light, and a strange confinement. You are not in the void, but rather something similar. And bumpy...?

You are in a small sack, amidst coins and jewellery of various sizes and values. You feel weak and stretched but... alive. It is loud, the sound of many people rushing back and forth; screaming about goods. A small voice as well, a high pitch and cocky.

"Man, that guy was loaded. Can't wait to show the guys what I got!"

It suddenly occurs to you that you appear to be a very familiar amulet, one you copied the form of before. Maybe this isn't the end... not yet anyway. Not so long as you can billow.

==========

Alright. that'll be the end there for now. I'll likely pick this up 2 days from now (full up tomorrow for stuff), but I do want to continue this and have some ideas. If you guys need a time I'm likely to attempt this again, I'll try for 12AM-1AM GMT Monday.

Auslander, so shit timezone, I know but whaddya do.

Anyway, got work like right now so I'll check when I get back

That's like 9 PM on the america east coast so it's all good, QM. Quest was pretty fucking good, especially all this billowing. I hope you keep up the humor

Revenge time?

That's comforting, given that it's my first attempt. Had a fair bit writing experience before though.

Would've liked to lengthen out that ending, but I have to work.

We should figure out how to become a cloak of invisibility and help this kid steal Claire from the dick wizard. She was nice to us. Not sure what she can do, but a little bit of freedom is nice, right?

Just finished it, you should get a twitter and broadcast when you are going to run ahead of time.

>>34003202
Can we find a hot chick to wear us?
>>
>>34003231
For all you know, the child may actually be a cute halfling waifu.

This is an awesome backstory for our quest. I saw this possibility coming as soon as the thief ran into us, but that doesn't matter.

I'll set one up.

>>34003691
Maybe.

Whilst I'm setting up a twitter, anyone got a better name for this than 'Weapon Quest'? I liked the one-syllable thing, rolls off the tongue better, but it isn't really accurate for what we've become. Thoughts I've had are Item, Armour, Garment, or Artefact Quest. leaning towards Armour; keeping with the one syllable thing.

Additionally, aside from hot chicks and cute halflings, anyone have any requests for what you'd like to see.
>>
>>34005584
It was archived under Item Quest.
>>
>>34005603
Yeah that was another idea I had. Might delete that and opt for Armor Quest though. Less vague.
>>
Okay, deletion didn't work like I thought it did. I guess this bit'll be called Item Quest, but from now on its Armour Quest. I'll just put a [Formerly Item Quest] thing in the title of the next thread,

Ah yeah, tripcode. I'm an idiot.
>>
Well, I'm back.

...you know, I suggested the whole "silent, billowing type" to AVOID getting killed.

So, who's up for finding a baby and merging with its personality to become a kid with superpowers?
>>
>>34005584
You are set as my 3rdfavorite quest.
