LAST EPISODE: Sachiko became a vampire hunter.
- - -
"DAMN!" Akira throws down his controller.

You roll your eyes as you put a toaster waffle into the toaster. (Breakfast of champions!) Akira's trying to beat Sana at fighting games again. A futile effort. He even chose a game that he knew Sana had never played, and that he had practiced on.

2-0, four times in a row.

"What IS your secret?" Akira grumbles.

Sana shrugs. "It's not like they're all THAT different from each other. Besides, it's relaxing to be able to pulp someone's face after a bad audition."

"I thought you were going to be an extra in a sentai?" Star asks, entering the room and heading for the fridge and the grapefruit juice.

"I am, but running in terror from a foam suit doesn't exactly pay the bills." She sighs. "So, I deal with my life's disappointment by working for you knuckleheads, shooting ghosts and monsters, and beating you soundly at whatever game Akira or Sato think will stump me."

"One day woman..." Akira grumbles.

"So," Sato says looking up from his bowl of sugary cereal. "Are we really going down to P-COC today?"

"We promised Sachiko we would." You say.

"I dunno, Daisuke." Sato says. "This whole registry thing...it sounds like something Yasuo would do, and I checked on the net, the State Shinto and other official groups are supporting it."
>>
>>33966144
"Yeah, but Sachiko has a weird feeling about it." Star says. "Not to mention that 'agree three times to come' bit that she told me about it. We've been in this business long enough to know that one 'weird flag' usually means trouble."

"True." Sato says. "But WE give off plenty of weird flags. P-COC is in the same business as we are."

"You're saying there's nothing to be worried about?" Akira asks.

"No." Sato says. "I'm just saying we shouldn't go into this assuming that it's some evil plot. Yasuo's a dick, but he's not evil."

"True." You say. "But we're still going, right?"

There's a chorus of agreement from everyone.

"Sachiko asked us. She's our friend." Star says, summing up the situation. "We're going."

"Maybe you guys shouldn't go as Ghostbusters." Sana says, as she gets to her desk. "You know P-COC hates you, so maybe showing up looking like human beings might keep things from instantly escalating."

> Nah. We're Ghostbusters. We're showing up to this National Registry in our full glory. Consequences be damned.
> Sana's got a good point. If we go in dressed like civilians, maybe we'd be able to get some more information out of people, and learn about the Registry. (Of course you'd keep your equipment in YOMI-1 and within reach.)

Someone stays back in YOMI-1 with the engine running, and the Proton Cannon charged and ready.
This will be a fully armed and operational ghost-busting vehicle.

Hmm, I wonder. This is the PCOC, and there is a strong chance our faces are already plastered on their walls so they will recognize us, furthermore the YOMI-1 would be a big red flag with all the other paranormal experts arriving.

That and /someone/ might be on the lookout for us.
>>
>>33966482
We won't go into the heart of registry, or even the actual location itself, we'll just ask around as civilians from people who are going in.

We always have the option to suit up when we get there.
>>

We never gave a damn before.

Sachiko asked the ghostbusters to check it out, so the ghostbusters are going to check it out
>>
>>33966720
This. We got called in.
>>
>>33966720
>>33966776
I don't think advertising the fact that Sachiko, a miko and part of the State Shinto agency, called in the Ghostbusters is a good idea.
In fact, it's a terrible idea.

Are you just going to say that we were called in, and then not give the name of who called us in? That's not going to fly with anyone there.
>>
>>33966151
> Sana's got a good point. If we go in dressed like civilians, maybe we'd be able to get some more information out of people, and learn about the Registry. (Of course you'd keep your equipment in YOMI-1 and within reach.)

I feel we will meet PAGAN
>>
>>33966855
Although I agree we should hold up a pretense of civilians as long as we can, we shouldn't be required to give out the identity of our clientele because that goes against client confidentiality and basic business principle
>>
Damn, this is the true punishment from last week.

A lot of ominous foreshadowing and no way to act on it without metagaming.

Reminds me of Peter Parker Quest.

"Sana's right. Let's just keep all of the stuff in YOMI-1, if we need it." You say. "Maybe it'll be good to talk to people just as...people...and not Ghostbusters."

You load up YOMI-1 and drive out to the P-COC offices.

"You think we should park YOMI out of the way?" Star asks.

"P-COC is in a plaza with a few other buildings. We can put it at the edge." Sato says.

"Yeah, but with the logo stamped on her side, she's not exactly subtle." You say.

"Uhh, guys?" Akira says. "I don't think we need to worry about subtle or being noticed."

The plaza is PACKED. There are people everywhere. A whole sea of mikos and priestesses in their red and white robes. A collection of fortune tellers, exorcists, and other 'mystics' dressed in styles from the humbly subtle to 'rag shop explosion.'

But the largest crowd are an assortment of people, including a few priestesses, and 'mystics' that have black and white checkerboard-pattern haori jackets on. They've got placard signs, banners, megaphones, and are making an unholy mess of things.

They've driven their own van into the middle of the plaza. A woman is standing on top of it. She's short, with short dark hair, glasses, and has a very expensive looking megaphone. She's also dressed in a checkerboard jacket.

"DOWN WITH THE CULTURAL IMPERIALISTS! DO NOT LET P-COC DICTATE YOUR LIVES, YOUR FAITHS! WE ARE NOT CANS OF SOUP TO BE BARCODED!"

(Cont)
>>
>>33967036
But that's been true even before last week, same thing with knowing Yasuo is in cahoots with whatsherface
>>
>>33967076
"THEY WOULD TELL YOU THAT THE SPIRITUAL WORLD IS YOUR ENEMY. THAT IS IS TO BE CONTROLLED AND BEATEN DOWN BY WAY OF THEIR JACKBOOTED THUGS! WE OF PAGAN KNOW THERE IS A BETTER WAY. PAGAN SAYS THAT OUR FUTURE WITH THE SPIRITUAL IS ONE OF PEACE! RESIST THE TEMPTATION OF MATERIAL GAIN! RESIST THE FEAR OF A MONOLITHIC GOVERNMENT! PRESERVE YOUR TRUTH, YOUR FAITH, AND YOUR HOPE!"

"Wow...when did PAGAN get so organized?" Star asks as she gets out of the van with the rest of you.

"FOR IS IT NOT WRITTEN: A LIFE OF STRUGGLE FOR THE TRUTH IS A LIFE THAT IS THE RICHEST? OR...SOMETHING LIKE THAT?" The girl yells.

You all smirk and look at Sato. Yep. He's smitten.

"Wow." He says.

"WE WILL NOT BE OPPRESSED BY P-COC GOVERNMENT THUGS, OR THEIR THUGGISH ENFORCERS OF SPIRITUAL BRUTALITY!"

Small straw dummies that have vacuums attached to their backs and are dressed in familiar looking blue jump suits are hoisted up on long sticks.

You see torches.

"I gotta call Sachiko." You say, getting out your phone and dialing.

"Such...passion! Look at how she controls the crowd." Sato says.

"You have to be kidding me." Star says.

"Do we really look that...lumpy...in these jumpsuits?" Akira asks.

"Before or after we're on fire?" Star asks.

"Sachiko? It's Daisuke. We're at P-COC." You say when she picks up.

"Already? I wasn't planning on being there for another hour or so...well I suppose that's a good thing considering." Sachiko says.

"Yeah...ummm...I don't think you need to be worried about us causing a scene." You say.

"Why?" She asks.

"Because PAGAN is already here...and it looks like their leader is intent on causing a riot." You say.

"She's incredible!" Sato says. "Does anyone see a ring on her fingers?"

"SHE'S BURNING US IN EFFIGY!" Akira yells.

"Sachiko. You might want to hurry up and come down here quick...because if you don't, I don't think there might BE a P-COC to register AT!" You say.

"I'll be there as soon as I can." She says and hangs up.

(cont)
>>
>>33967094
"Looks like the applicants are still filing into P-COC." Akira says. "Think we could sneak in with them?"

Star harumphs. "I don't appreciate being burnt in effigy. I say we suit up and express OUR point of view."

"We should go introduce ourselves." Sato says, looking at the woman standing on top of the van. "I've GOT to get her name."

> Sneaking in sounds good.
> Screw it, it's already halfway to a riot, let's push it over and suit up.
> Okay Sato, let's go meet your waifu.

How about we just hang back, call in to P-COC and Yasuo that we wish to meet with him about certain zoning permits, buy a yakisoba from the food vendors that showed up, wait for Sachiko, and see what happens?
>>

I'm tempted to let Sato approach her for hilarity purposes as well as getting someone undercover on their side and potentially wooing her, while the rest of us do business.
>>

We could just wait for sachiko and guard the Yomi-1 while while Akhira and Star sneak, and Sato meet his waifu and spill some spagetti

>>
>>33967109
So we were told last thread that having the ghostbusters show up here was one of the best moves we could have made.

Which implies that we should definitely do something. But I'm not sure what wouldn't be helping Mae.
>>
Hey Ghostmaster, did we recieve enough funds and has enough time passed that we have some new equimpent?

Can we know what happened in the recent timeskip?
>>
>>33967181
>>33967146
Then we might as well not have shown up.

Our presence at the rally is fortuitous, the only question is if we should defuse the situation, or enflame it into becoming a riot.
>>
>>33967279
Then what do you propose?
I feel like we are being played
>>
>>33967279
Are you sure it's the rally we are here for? For all we know the rally is just the distraction we need to get inside the PCOC and have a closer look.
>>
>>33967109
> Okay Sato, let's go meet your waifu.

Sato needs some.
>>
>>33967355
Sato's gonna get that pussy tonight
>>
>>33967236
>Hey Ghostmaster, did we recieve enough funds and has enough time passed that we have some new equipment?

You guys have been begging for that Destabilizer that'll turn Yokai into spectral, bistable, beings. You have one of those for sure.

Other weaponry gadgets can be discussed (or given when the plot demands.)

Vehicles are another matter entirely, as was said, none of you have a pilots license, and Daisuke doesn't know how to steer a boat, motor or no.

>Can we know what happened in the recent timeskip?

Wasn't that big of a time skip, three days max. Just regular jobs and workshop time.
>>
>>33967355
>>33967372
Or become another puppet on a string.
>>
>>33967279
Are you that it's the rally we should be here for, and not the actual Registration going on inside P-COC?
Or shit, even giving the place a once-over with a PKE Meter and Ecto-Goggles just to see what's going on spectrally?
>>
>>33967438
>Or shit, even giving the place a once-over with a PKE Meter and Ecto-Goggles just to see what's going on spectrally?
Why AREN'T we doing that? We should be paranoid enough to do that since we were told weird semi-ritualistic magic was being done by a P-COC agent.

Changing >>33967146 to >>33967438 as an Other.
>>
>>33967438
>Or shit, even giving the place a once-over with a PKE Meter and Ecto-Goggles just to see what's going on spectrally?

There's so many highly emotional people here, not to mention exorcists from fakers to the Real Deal, power-wise, that the PKE is going nuts, and putting on the Ecto-goggles just shows a giant blur of activity.
>>
>>33967438
Scan waifu. Scan effigies.
>>
>>33967477
What about the P-COC building itself?

And maybe we should get a look at the building from the inside. And the people going through the Registration process, before and after.
>>
Okay, there has to be some way we can figure out that Mimiko is going to be hijacking the phonelines to kill all the exorcists.
>>
>>33967336
I'm pretty sure were at the point where there's a decent chance we're being played regardless of what we do.

Like our opponent is so far beyond us that we're effectively fighting Aizen.

Sure I can't see how snooping at P-COC could further her plan, but there's probably a way it could get us tangled in the net.
>>
>>33967355
Damn straight, we gonna be the best wingman ever.
>>
>>33967498
The building is putting out a bit more PKE than any other building in the plaza...but this IS P-COC so that's not unusual.

You can't get a decent enough scan on anything else due to all the interference from the protest, crowd, and distance. If you want to get a solid scan on the applicants, the PAGAN leader, or anyone else. You'll have to get within, at least, 10 feet.

Also, you CAN split up if you want, but well...it's splitting up.
>>
>>33967650
I was considering splitting up
We need to know the situation from both sides
But torn between being Sato's wingman or infitrate P-COC with Star
>>
>>33967650
I say concentrate on sneaking into the P-COC and checking it out, both the building and the people.

Oh, and I've been wondering: is Peck still in Japan? Or has he already left?
>>
>>33967109
>Other
I for one am curious about why they are burning effigies of the ghostbusters and not people labled P-COC. Doesn't it completely defeat their purpose since P-COC hates the ghostbusters?
>>
>>33967748
>Oh, and I've been wondering: is Peck still in Japan? Or has he already left?

Oh he's left. He's got WAY too much on his hands with putting together the Global Registry. (He's stealing Yasuo's idea. P-COC Japan has NOTHING to do with this registry. Peck wants the credit.)

Plus you know, the other GB branches are having their own issues.

GB: LA has the ghost plane of Carcossa and it's mad king and revelers trying to push into ours.

GB: Chicago has to deal with the Demigorgon and it's armies of Nightmares and Stolen Children

GB: Northwest has the Wendigo trying to bring eternal winter

GB: Central is dealing with the Dark Man and his 1001 Forms, and another aspect of Tiamat.

GB: London has to stop Queen Boudicca's massive ghost army from wiping all of the 'taint of Rome' from England...which is pretty much everything.

GB: Johannesburg is trying to stop the Primal Tiger from turning South Africa into a pit of blood.

And Central is reviewing applications for Franchises in other places as well. Business is business after all!

>>
>>33967882
So, what I'm saying is, don't count on backup from other GB branches. They have their own problems.

Moving on...

So I'm seeing two votes to split up and cover everything, and one vote to go talk to the PAGAN leader.

Any more votes?
>>
>>33967582
Actually the phones and the fourth aspect of Oiwa aren't the ones behind the red string.

They're too different tricks, neither of which we know about.
>>
>>33968001
I'm down with talking to the leader, splitting the party almost never ends well and if we do manage to talk her down this whole clusterfuck will be a lot more manageable.
>Okay Sato, let's go meet your waifu.
>>
>>33967882
This is going to end up like Spider-Man where we're blamed for this stuff starting to pop up
>>
>>33967109
> Okay Sato, let's go meet your waifu.
We need to diffuse Pagan here. Getting Sato involved probably will help, thus I agree with >>33967170 .

>>33967882
Central should consider China, definitely. I bet our Vampire friends could give them tips on where to look and who to contact.

Russia, I imagine, could also use some help. Plenty of things for them to do there.

Australia would be a major priority based on it's weirdness and yet how little people care about it.
>>
>>33967379
That's good. I hope we successfully tested the Ethereal Solidifer on Umi and her friends, now they should be at the sanctuary eating food and reading solid NEW manga books to their hearts content.

Also important as one of the methods to reverse the Destabilizer's effects.

China and Russia I imagine are difficult due to political reasons.

I wonder what the ghost (or living person) of Rasputin is doing right now. . .certainly not hunting the Romanov bloodline in the dark of the night?

King Arthur was probably a Roman General, though.

You're assuming that the Queen of Rage is sane...and that she hasn't made a deal with Other Entities that also wouldn't mind seeing England, and London specifically, razed to the ground.

Anyway, waifu away!
>>
>>33967109
Yeah, send Sato to talk to her, Akira to stay with the car and Star and Daisuke to sneak in. Let Sato do his own wooing.
>>
>>33968001
We were asked by Sachiko to check out P-COC, so I feel like we should maybe do that?

It really seems like only bad things come from playing along with.Sato, so I don't know why we keep doing it?
>>
>>33968037
I know that the forth aspect is Mimiko, but I couldn't find any Japanese legends about evil red string. Did you?
And even if the characters don't know, we, THE PLAYERS, do. So I think that we should find some way for our characters to find out, cause I do NOT want a bad ending.
>>
>>33968077
Russia specifically has a "Destroy On Sight" order out for any and all supernaturals within their borders. I imagine that the FSB is handling it internally and they don't want civilians who might provide a means of escaping the government's pogrom to interfere.
As for China, they don't want a private group interfering when they have government/Party controls in place.
>>
>>33968134
It varies. As long as companies jump through China's hoops while there and bribe the right people, it could work easily (Coca-cola's Go Red Go China! slogan during the Olympics, something that would have gotten them a visit from COINTELPRO 50 years ago, isn't really a problem now).

With Russia, it varies. It actually would have been extremely easy for the past few years to do it, but is slightly harder now due to Ukraine. It honestly would be less of a problem then you'd think.
>>
>>33968235
Russia: Nothing remains the same, and that kind of band-aid will eventually back-fire on them.

China: Money talks. Careful and respectful application of it, by acceptable people means business can be done.
>>
>>33968180

As the ancients say "A broken sundial is right once a night" or something like that.
>>
>>33968332
Bribes in China can get you far, but that's still going against the Party. The policy is "work for the Party, or else" in regards to any supernaturals. I don't think the Party would allow tht policy to be ignored.

As for Russia, Putin put the fear into Baba Yaga. Whatever freedoms the supernatural population got when the Soviet Union fell, have been rescinded an they're oppressed even more. Sure, there might be a resurgence once Putin is dead and gone, but it's only a matter of time before another rises to bring back the glory of the CCCP.

Shut up Sato.
>>
>>33968151
You all make your way through the crowd and stop in front of the van.

"Hello!" You say, waving at the woman.

"GREETINGS FEL...hold on...sorry." She gets down from the van. "Greetings fellow citizens! Are you here to join our cause? We've got plenty more PAGAN coats, only 500 yen. I'll give you four for 1500."

"Sato Fumihito." Sato says. "It's a pleasure to meet you." He bows.

The girl bows back. "Rei Kachidoki."

"So..." Star nods up at the burning effigies, now being paraded around. "Why are you burning the Ghostbusters? I always thought that they didn't get along with P-COC."

Rei nods. "I'm glad you've followed the current events. Sadly, a good many people believe that they ARE associated with each other...and either way, they're both representations of the greater evil. Is it not written, that the enemy of my enemy is still an enemy?"

"I thought the ancient saying was 'Be it a tiger or a lion, a bull is still wary of their tables." Sato says.

Rei nods and smiles at Sato. "Something like that I suppose."
>>
>>33968406
I think they value watching Sato fail more than Daisuke succeeding or getting a good ending.
>>
>>33968206
It's a metaphor. A cross between "the red string of fate" and "red tape", demonstrating that somehow the registry will keep everybody's hands tied until it's too late.
>>
>>33968492
She pounds her hand into her other palm. "But I'm NOT one to sit by and do nothing. This whole 'registry' is just another example of Western Cultural Imperialism. They're forcing their mindset upon us regarding the spiritual. It's up to people like us to make sure that people know that ghosts and spirits aren't 'the enemy' as P-COC and the Ghostbusters preach. There's no need for an organized ARMY to take them down, and believe me. This isn't going to end just with a registry. It'll end with our ways of life and spirituality trampled to death by Western mentality and views. Now...I'm thinking three extra larges and a large for jackets?"

"What?" Star asks, a little affronted.

"Well they shrink in the wash." Rei says.

"Oh." Star says. "Thanks."

"No problem." Rei says. "Jiro!"

"Yes, your majesty?" A PAGAN asks.

"Three extras and one large for our new recruits! And don't CALL me that!" Rei says.

"At once, your majesty." Jiro goes into the van.

"Ass." She sighs. "Anyway, your name was Sato...and the rest of you are...?"

We have none. People wanted to give Sato a chance at his waifu, and that's why we're stuck here in the middle of people that hate us with plan and no backup and all of our weapons still in the van.
>>
>>33968978
Initially it seemed we wanted to split the group to let Sato have his shot, while we went about using the notriot as a distraction to investigate PCOC.

But we seem to have joined Sato to meet the Pagan themselves.
>>
>>33968978
Our plan was to do some snooping at P-COC, because our friend.Sachiko felt vaguely uneasy.

But now we're... Not doing that.
>>
>>33969050
>>33969088
At best we can see what we can do about PAGAN and let Sato handle it while we go off to the PCOC event itself.
>>
>>33969141
This.

Sato could keep PAGAN under some semblance of control while we figure what's up with PCOC
>>
>>33969141
Good point
>>
>>33969167

> I'm Daisuke. Just introduce yourself. Rei doesn't seem so bad when she's not playing to the crowd.

>>
>>33969200
Let Sato do that. We really are needed inside.
>>
>>33969141
Why would we want to stop PAGAN? I'm pretty sure they're not compromised, and they could distract P-COC.

But then we're getting into metagaming again and I'm pretty sure we're overdosing on shadowruns
>>
>>33968978
I think having no solid plan, improvising, and bullshitting are the Ghostbusters SOP.
>>
>>33969230

I think I know how we can use those PAGAN outfits.

You bow. "I'm Daisuke Harutora."

Her eyebrows go up. "Would that be the same Daisuke Harutora that was involved in a certain educational scandal?"

Oh no.

She nods. "I would be honored to be able to count you as part of our numbers. PAGAN stands for everything that makes Japan unique and great. You are your friends are welcome to join our team."

"Well," Star says. "I'm sorry, but we're going to have to decline. We're already on a team."

"I'm sorry?" Rei asks.

"Star..." Akira says.

"No. She's made us out like we're some kind of malignant cancer that's corrupting Japan, when we've done more to help people than this woman ever has." Star says. "We're NOT failures, and we're NOT trash!"

"Star, no one is saying that we are." Akira says.

"We're the Ghostbusters," Star says. "And you're just...you're just a phony with a megaphone. I bet you've never even SEEN a real ghost!"

Rei blinks in surprise and looks at the rest of you. "You're...really the ghostbusters?"

You sigh and nod.

"Well...then I guess that you don't want a PAGAN jacket." Rei says turning back to the van.

"Rei," Sato says. "Can we just talk about this?"

"I appreciate you coming up to me and being polite unlike P-COC was." Rei says, ice on every syllable. "But I will NOT change my views on your organization or its practices. I will also NOT apologize for MY actions. I stand by my convictions and my actions. I don't think we have anything more to say to each other. Good. Day."

Sato looks dejected. Star looks like she's about three seconds away from punching Rei.

> Miss Kachidoki, can we just talk about this, maybe negotiate things? There's no reason we have to be enemies.

Ask if Sato can just talk to her for a little bit. We don't have to hate each other, we can talk and come to some agreement or understanding. We care about ghosts too. Just look at Yurei or those trash ghosts.

Ms. Katchidoki, I think we got off on the wrong foot. Despite what you may have heard we don't count ghosts as the enemy... Well, most of us. We serve the same purpose as exorcisms and demon hunters do; we follow people into the darkness so that they can see the light of day again. The only difference is our methods, which are actually subordinate to any acting shaman in the area. In fact, the handbook specifically states that we are to defer to their authority in cases where we work together.
We're not bad people, ma'am, we're the Ghostbusters. And no matter what, we're ready to believe you.

Akira opens up the van and digs around, and then he comes up with the outdated MP3 player. Yurei's on the screen in her ghostbuster uniform.

"You know, I don't care how cute you look in that uniform." Akira says. "Next time, ASK. Here, Daisuke wants you to give PAGAN more trouble."

He hands you a (slightly blushing) Yurei.

You go back to Rei, who's handing out more PAGAN coats.

"I'm not taking down the effigies." She snaps. "Although I will say for the record that PAGAN is against violence, and that display is NOT meant as a threat to you personally or to your organization, but rather the Pro-Western Imperialist concepts that they venerate."

"Miss Kachidoki." You say. "Would you like to see a REAL ghost?"

"Excuse me?" She says.

You hold out the Chyme and Yurei appears on the screen in her 'ghost garb' costume.

"This is what? A video clip?" Rei asks.

- - I AM A REAL GHOST, MISS KACHIDOKI. - -

"Okay, so one of your friends is texting. Look, I'm trying to run a serious rally. I have better things to do than play games with dupes for the hostile machinery of an oppressive system."

Summon a ghost in a crowd of exorcists?

heh.

But to throw this idea a bone, admittedly she isn't the malicious type which might have some influence, in the least she's not rampaging.

Furthermore, it might be possible the background PKE from all the different mystics and paranormal scientists could hide even her presence.

And if it boils down to it, we can always trap her ourselves. "Don't mind us! Just the ghostbusters doing our job!" but that would blow our cover completely.

You narrow your eyes at Rei, and take a deep breath.

"Yurei...come out and say hello."

Yurei does her part very well. She makes the Chyme rattle and vibrate and she oozes out from it in a white mist.

Then she pops into existence in front of Rei, and her assistant. In all her white garbed, legless, semi-translucent glory.

She causes a PAGAN coat to levitate out of a box and she drapes it around herself and models herself to you with a 'Do you think Akira would like it?' look on her face.

Jiro, the assistant, has his mouth open, close, and then open again. He makes a kind of a sound that's not quite identifiable, and then he collapses onto the ground.

Rei takes a step forward, and holds out her hand. Yurei smiles at her and waves her own hand through her.

Then something happens. Yurei instantly stops messing around the moment her hand passes through Rei's flesh. She puts the PAGAN jacket pack, and then...drops to her hands and knees in a formal apology bow.

"It's...it's okay?" Rei stammers.

Yurei then floats back up, and she looks at you very confused in a 'what just happened?' way. Then she goes back inside the Chyme.

Rei takes a few steps and then sits down in the van. She blinks. "How...who...what?"

"Yurei is the ghost of a young girl." You say. "We discovered her and we freed her from the business that she was disrupting. She's...waiting for her chance to cross-over. Until then, she's been helping us and we consider her a friend."

"I...I...wait...was this the same ghost that scared the group away that went to protest your factory?" Rei says.

"Did you send them?" Star snaps. "Cause we have damage reports and noise complaints from a shinto temple that's near us."

"It was not an action that was sanctioned by PAGAN administration, although we champion members who take initiative." Rei rattles off.

She nods. "Alright...so...what was that then? A threat to make us back off or you'll sick your...your...house ghosts on us?"

"Seriously?!" Star says.

"Rei," Sato says. "As the ancients say: Not all men who carry swords wish to see blood upon them."

"Hmph," Rei says. "Is it not written: The Sword of Steel is dull against the Sword of Fear when wielded correctly?"

"Something like that." Sato says. "But we're trying to show you that we're not going around stomping on ghosts and yokai and others...right Akira?"

"Yeah, yeah." Akira says. "We're happy families with plenty of them."

(cont)
>>
>>33970877
"Right," Sato says. "We just think that maybe PAGAN should...be a bit more aware about what's going on. I mean before it ends up with us getting burnt at the stake."

"I told you, they don't represen-"

"Okay, if you finish that sentence I WILL hit you!" Star says.

"Star!" Akira says. He grabs her shoulder. "Let's go call Sachiko and see if she's here."

The pair head off.

Sato looks at you and shrugs. "Star has her triggers." He goes back to Rei. "Anyway, we'd love to show you more...maybe we could meet later? Just you know, you and me...us...the Ghostbusters...and get you a better idea of what's happening?"

Rei nods. "Yes...yes. I'd like that." She shakes her head. "I mean, to get informed...about...about stuff like that."

"Excellent." Sato says. "That's...well that's just great." He beams at you.

"I just need to...oh Jiro!" She goes to her unconscious partner.

"Yo!" You hear Sato yell. You turn and see him waving, he's standing with Star and Sachiko.

You leave the PAGANites to their brave new world that has such things in it, and hook up with the others.

"Setting you all on fire." Sachiko says. "Why didn't I ever think of that?"

"Good to see you too, vampire hunter." Sato says with a smile.

Sachiko turns to Star and slightly pushes her. "You said you wouldn't tell."

"You said that I could borrow those boots." Star says.

"They didn't fit you!" Sachiko says.

"Enough." You say. "So...are you seriously going to go in there?"

Sachiko shrugs. "I dunno. I think I better, since I agreed. Three times. But...well, I could blame it on this riot, or say I got another bee sting."

"They'd probably make you do it another day though." Sato says.

"Well..." Akira says. "We could come in with you."

"They know our faces Akira." Star says.

"We could put a hidden camera on Sachiko and a microphone in her ear!" Sato says.

"Okay, James Bond...we don't HAVE micro cameras or microphones like that with us." Star says. "Do we?"

Sato shrugs. "We could mash something together."

"Well..." Star says. "We do have Yurei. Sachiko, you could carry in her Chyme and she could spy for us, she can send texts to our phones from this distance and get them. Especially since the area's so PKE charged."

"Let's all go in...but we won't be 'with' you Sachiko." You say. "You can pretend like you don't even know us."

"Oh, so like every other day then." Sachiko says.

"Ha. Ha." Akira says.

"Anyway, we'll be there for zoning issue, or to pay a fine, or whatever." You say. "Then you'll show up, and...we'll go from there."

"I like this plan." Sachiko says. "Well planned...and yet...useless." She sighs. "Okay, let's go."

You make your way through the rally, which is turning less 'riot-y' and more 'festival-ly' in nature, especially with Rei turning her screaming rhetoric AWAY from 'Tear down the oppressors' and more 'Celebrate your culture.' Also someone's selling popsicles and when that happens it's really only an awning and a goldfish away from a full on festival.

P-COC's doors are large, glass and guarded. Not aggressively, but there's a handful of people in police uniforms making sure that no one is there to make trouble.

It's rather impressive for a civil service organization really. How did they manage to get a whole building to themselves? The impressively large reception room with sufficiently small, marble, sign in desk, all reek of money that's on a level that's above what you think anyone would give P-COC.

Although what might explain it is the list of donors on the wall. A large stone tablet that has lists of names of people that have donated to the P-COC cause. It's set up in the wall, right next to a large mural.

The mural is unusual in a couple of ways.

1) It's giving off a PKE reading.

2) The whole thing is sealed within glass. Not just covered, but it looks like the mural itself was put inside a glass box and that glass box was sealed close, then it was hung up on the wall.

3) The kimono is real. It's not painted on, but rather the painting was made around the kimono. The kimono in the painting, is an actual dress that's meant to be worn.

4) The kimono...well it looks weird. If you stand on one side of the room it's a brilliant red, if you move to the other, its orangish. It must be the fabric, because it seems to shimmer.

5) The glass is warm to the touch.

Well, you aren't sure what that all means together, but there you go. Another P-COC mystery.

You did however, get a very clever plan. You walk up to Sachiko and whisper to her the idea. She breaks out into a huge smile and then nods.

You come back and rejoin the others, as they're filling out the forms for arrival. The secretary gives you a milk-curdling look and groans.

"You ALL came?" She asks. (You can see that there's photos of you four from the newspaper taped to her desk.)

"We Ghostbusters are a united front. One for all, and all for the good of the company!" Sato says cheerfully.

"Ugh." The secretary groans. "Okay, fine. What are you here for?"

>>
>>33972598
In the end, we need to do something that gets us (Saichiko) kicked out of the Registration.

But we also need a reason to stay long enough to investigate the mural.

Let's see what we can come up with.
>>
>>33972598
> To discuss a zoning issue regarding a housing project we've been asked to help with.
>>
>>33972598
>We're here to talk about some of the fees that we've recently acquired and discuss payment options.
If we actually did talk to P-COC about the zoning permits, then the arco would get stonewalled just by being associated with us. It's better for them if Rini or some other Youkai with legal Japanese residence were to apply for the permits.

Filing a complain about PAGAN would be counter to the tentative truce we just got.

Signing up for the Registry just stinks of "BAD IDEA".

So the fees are the safest option, especially since P-COC knows they can't make us pay.
>>
>>33972725
>Signing up for the Registry just stinks of "BAD IDEA".
We can't though, Peck adamantly refuses to let the ghostbusters have a penny of PCOC funding and they have pictures of us on their desk.
>>
>>33972690
>>33972720
The permits would get caught up in red tape if it's the Ghostbusters asking for them.

I'll get behind this.
>>
>>33972598
>We're here to talk about some of the fees that we've recently acquired and discuss payment options.
We're the worst possible advocates for the zoning issue, so let's focus on something they can't actually do much about.
>>
>>33972759
Which is why I want to see if we can trick them to kick us out as well as Saichiko.

I would like to suggest have Saichiko speak for us in a way that can accomplish that.

"Hi, we're here to sign up for the JAPAN P-COC Registry."

"Yeah, no, Walter Peck refuses."

"So what you are saying is I and my colleagues can't sign up?"

>Repeat thrice

"Very well, I guess /me/ and my friends are officially forbidden to register. Oh, we're also here to talk about some of the fees that we've recently acquired and discuss payment options."
>>
>>33972759

Then get into a big fake argument about whether she joined or not.
>>
>>33972720
Changing to
>fees
>>
>>33972598
Maybe we can just say

"We'd like to know more about the Registry?"
>>
>>33972846
Will that work though? I'm worried they might see through it and find a loophole to force us on to the registry, which would make our situation a whole lot worse.
>>
>>33972598
> We're here to talk about some of the fees that we've recently acquired and discuss payment options.
Also ask if they ever expected to hear those words coming out of our mouths.
Honestly, this IS the best option. We are the WORST spokesmen for the sanctuary with P-COC, and it would be good to have a group of humans on our side, so we shouldn't get PAGAN angry.
>>
>>33972916
It's worth a shot, and there is virtually no reason the PCOC would ever want us to register, they hardly even like us.
>>
>>33972819
This is true.

Let's find an excuse to get Sachiko kicked out.
>>
>>33972598
>We're here to talk about some of the fees that we've recently acquired and discuss payment options.

Ask if Sachiko is liable for any fees, because she hangs out with us.
>>
>>33972965
Except that if the Registry is part of some plan to control all of the Registered by dint of them having signed a Contract, we would also be under their control.
P-COC might not want anything to do with us, but the youkai (and Lady Une) who control P-COC Japan would love to have that kind of control over us.
>>
>>33973075
But if contracts matter, wouldn't the Japanese P-COC branch get considerable backlash from Peck?

I agree it's probably too risky though, but it might be necessary.
>>
>>33973075
that would depend if she would even anticipate us wanting to register, which in all likelihood there is no indication we would. We can always /ask/ about the registration, and I really wish we would. Especially if we can get clarification on the Ghostbusters status concerning it.
>>
>>33973142

"We're here to talk about some of the fees that we've recently acquired and discuss payment options." You say.

The secretary blinks. Twice. "Really?"

"Yeah." You say.

"One moment." She says. Then she picks up the phone. "Yes. Yes, it's them. They say they're here to pay off their fees." A pause. "Yeah. That's what they said! I'm not joking. No...no...no, but I can't tell if they've been hit on the head or not just by looking...okay. Umm...okay." She puts down the phone and gestures to a row of semi-comfortable looking seats. "Wait there. Someone will be with you."

You all head over to the seats. There's a crowd of priestesses and mikos waiting there already. They all have pieces of paper with numbers on it.

A few minutes pass, and Sachiko joins you. She's holding her own number.

"They didn't really give me a chance to say anything." She says to you. "They had me sign in, and then they gave me a number and told me to wait."

"For how long?" You ask.

She shrugs. "I asked them that. They said it would take as long as it takes. I could BE here all DAY. I just had to SIGN IN by the time they ordered." The priestess sits down in a chair. "They say that if we want food or bathrooms that we're free to use the cafeteria and facilities on this floor behind those doors."

"Huh." You say.

There's probably stairs and elevators behind those doors as well.

> If you went as a big group, you could maybe slip away and head upstairs to do...something...look you'll figure it out when you get there.

Have Star take pics of the mural with her cellphone. Daisuke to say he's going to the bathroom, and use the opportunity to snoop around.
Tell Sato and Akira that if someone does come by to talk about the fee's, give a whole long spiel about "unexpected expenses" and "unforeseen financial limitations" and talk about payment options. Basically stall.
Otherwise, have them and Sachiko ask around about this Registration Act.

So, the plan is somehow to swap the Mediums and Guides from being tied to Japan, to P-COC. That dress is VERY important to all of this. Have Sachiko identify it. Leaving isn't good enough, they're preparing something nasty and we have to figure out what it is and stop it.

We also have this weird mural to deal with, we can't just leave it there. Argh, so much to do so few options
>>
EVERYBODY HOLD THE PHONE. STOP.

The threads in Saichiko's vision were RED.

The kimono in the sealed glass box is RED and likely made of threads.

That thing is related to this.
>>
>>33973633
If we can get rid of that Kimino, we might potentially get rid of the strings that cause those who register here to "dance like marionettes"

I am tempted to bring our equipment in this building, scan it with the PKE and say "There's something in this mural", giving us the authority to crack it open and investigate.
>>

>If someone else make a big enough diversion, someone could slip by and maybe even get up stairs.

After Daisuke leaves another man enters the room. He looks like a normal salaryman.

"Ghostbusters?" He asks the crowd.

Daisuke and Akira stand up and walk over. They bow. "That's us."

"Basho Koenma." He says. "I...thought there were more of you?"

"They're outside dealing with PAGAN." Akira says. "Did you see those effigies of us?"

"Mph." Koenma says and motions for the pair to follow him. "We at P-COC have received orders from our central offices that PAGAN is best addressed by being ignored. We agree with the assessment. As long as they are not antagonized, our feeling is that they'll just get bored and go home."

"A sound strategy." Sato says. "That leader of theirs though...shuch pass-OW!" Sato glares at Akira who has punched him in the arm. "Never mind."

Koenma leads the pair across a sea of cubicles and office workers. It mostly looks like a call center.

A woman holding a tray of marbles placed upon a satin cloth walks past you all without incident.

"What were those?" Akira asks as he follow Koenma.

"Tools for another department." Koenma says. "Now...let's get your files regarding those fines."

You go up another floor into a room that's a mass of file cabinets and people filling and emptying those cabinets. "This is our reference room. We keep all of our recorded cases here. Along with other things, like our fine record."

He stops at a file cabinet and opens it and stars thumbing through the files. "We're hoping to computerize all of this, however we've been saddled with a lot of old errant files from other departments that were classified as 'odd' or 'occultist' which means we have to deal with them. Ugh, Koenma is just so boring. Nothing he says is important at all.

Just like this room. It is boring, and dull, and completely beneath Akira and Sato's notice.

In fact..."Is that it?" Sato says, pointing at a file.

"Yes it is!" Koenma says. "Thank you."

"No problem." Akira says. "Let's move on."

"Indeed!" Koenma says and leads the party to the next floor. There's a bunch of small meeting rooms in this floor. The duo can see P-COC people talking to priestesses, mikos, exorcists, and other people.

There's loud sounds of...something...coming from above.

"We're still doing some construction." Koenma says after it sounds like something big has moved overhead. "Sorry about the sounds."

"It's okay." Sato says. "You should hear OUR place."

Koenma makes a smile that doesn't reach his eyes. "Quite. Now, lets figure this out. Shall we?" He says as he lead the pair into a small meeting room.

What follows next is a rather dull period of time where three men are looking over bills, checking them against bylaws, and then sorting them into piles.

On the plus side, the Ghostbusters do NOT have to pay a good deal many of these fines, fees, and taxes.

The bad side is that this is BORING.

Sato yawns. "Excuse me." He says. "I'm just gonna go stretch my legs for a bit. Is that okay?"

Also given how we set out to buy time, but instead did the exact fucking opposite of that, I'm pretty sure we're not gonna have time to even find anything suspicious.

The net result of this whole endeavor will be to make the characters suspect P-COC even LESS than they currently do, which is barely at all.

Sure, part of that is due to our own poor decision making abilities, both last week and this one, but not all.

>>
Divide and conquer is their game?

Well fuck that. Let's get our stuff and crash this party.
>>
>>33974510
Sato walks down the hall. He stops at a water cooler, and gets a drink, leafs through a gossip magazine on a table and tries to think of anything but protocol.

He does watch what the other people are doing. As far as he can see through to the other meeting rooms the priestesses are being asked to do a couple of things.
1) Put a seal on the door with the P-COC member on the other side.
2) Hold a novelty snow globe that changes colors.
3) Pick a marble out of a tray. They're identical to the ones he saw the other woman carrying.

After that, things start to get a little weird. Some people are thanked and led out of their rooms. Those people look rather upset.

Some people are asked to sign a piece of paper that's inside a red leather folder.

And some people...are challenged to tic-tac-toe. THEN they sign the piece of paper.

Weird.

Anyway, there's the fire alarm here...also someone left a cigarette in the ash tray. It's still smoldering.

> You have time to do one thing without raising suspicion. You can do more, but it'll be a roll to see if you get caught.

> You can pull the fire alarm NOW and run for it. People won't know it's you.

>You can plant the cigarette in a place so that, in about six minutes or so, there will be a fire. Or at least enough smoke to set off the alarms.
Fire alarms are actually designed so that they eject non-soluble paint onto the hands of whoever pulls the lever, to prevent just this sort of thing.
If this was an old building, I'd say the alarm might not have the security feature; but this is a swanky new building that P-COC has, and I wouldn't like to chance it.

"So," Sato asks. "How much do we owe?"

"More than I hoped, less than I feared." Akira says. "Isn't that what the ancients say?"

"Something like that." Sato says with a yawn.

"So please. Put it away." Koenma says in a firm, but not unkind voice.

Sato sighs and puts the phone away.

A few minutes later the fire alarm goes off. The group behaves as it normally does, surprise and annoyance, and you all walk out into the hall and then...

"SMOKE!" Koenma shrieks in hysterical panic. "FIRE! FIRE! FIRE! RUN RUN RUN RUN! WATCH YOUR NUTS! FUCK THAT BITCH IF I'M SETTING MY BALLS ON FIRE FOR HER! RUN!" He LUNGES past the two ghostbuster in a mad panicked tear to get OUT of there.

"The hell?" Akira says.

"Come on, let's go!" Sato says.

The pair head for the stairway and work their way down the stairs along with a crowd of other people who are a little disconcerted that there was smoke. However, this is just a calm, orderly, evacuation of a building.

The two Ghostbusters walk out the main doors. Looking at each other, and they shrug.

Okay, so, I was washing the dishes when this idea hit me:
Kali mentioned warcrimes committed by the Imperial Japanese Army in WW2 in China as also affecting the paranormal entities living there as badly as living human population.
Youkai are effectively immortal, in terms of lifespan, so it's very likely that many of the ones we go up against lived through that time.

What if, when we need to be intimidating, we bring up Unit 731?
Did they really think that Unit 731 only experimented on humans? Or that, when they turned over their research over to the United States Army, that they didn't use their paranormal warfare research notes to sweeten the deal?
Did they forget that the Ghostbusters originated in America, from universities which had access to those notes?
The IJA did things to the paranormal entities living in China, that they still haven't forgiven Japan for. Let's see how well they work on Japanese youkai.

But those are urban legends that are so common that there are western versions." She sighs. "There's the tales of the Taisho Kimono, the Furisode-Kaji, and the Dress of Ten-Thousand Eyes."

"Plenty to choose from huh?" Star says.

"Yep. It's a nice dress though." Sachiko says.

"Number 444?" A voice says.

"That's me." Sachiko says.

"Welcome to P-COC, and thank you for joining the Registry. Let's get you in and out as quickly as possible, shall we? Please follow me." The woman says.

The girls follow.

"She's my friend." Sachiko says. "Anyway, we've worked together."

"Is...she an exorcist like yourself? She doesn't look like a priestess." The woman says.

"She's an exorcist. Yes. She should be put on the registry, the two of us. Is...that a problem? The two of us?" Sachiko says, taking a step closer to Star.

"NO! Oh no no...no. Ummm, wow...oh...okay." The woman smiles. "It's...No problem. We at P-COC embrace...I mean we don't EMBRACE but...ummm...let's move on. Shall we?"

Star looks at Sachiko with a raised eyebrow. "The 'two' of us?"

"You so much as BREATHE a word to the boys about this and..." Sachiko says.

"Oh no. Trust me. I won't say a word...partner." She breaks into giggles. "Oh they'd kill us for doing this and not telling them. I'm amazed that she bought it."

"The same." Sachiko says.

"Alright." She gets out some paper and makes a few notes. "The first test I'd like you two to do, is to seal that door." She points to the door you just came through. "I need to actually go get a few things, when I come back, I want to NOT be able to open that door. Okay?"

"Umm...how exactly are we supposed to do that?" Star asks.

Koko smiles and shrugs. "Anyway you feel is best. Go ahead, be creative, and try your best! The only thing you CAN'T do is penny lock it or brace it with a chair. That's cheating! Now I'll be back in a few minutes. Good luck!"

She leaves and closes the door behind her.

"Kimono Fire"

A girl pines for some boy she met at passing and dies after requesting a great kimono be made for her.

Her soul then haunts the kimono, which is sold from family to family and given to girls about the same age, who all die in similar circumstances.

Eventually, they finally realize that the kimono was possessed, and a Buddhist monk advises the best course of action is to burn the kimono.

"Something that'll mess up yokai. Make them sick, or show their form, or make them catch on fire if they cross the threshold. Can you do that?" Star asks.

"Well...I could do a ward instead of a seal." Sachiko says. "They call upon the Kami to protect a place from evil spirits. It's not...you know...a seal...but it's supposed to make any creature who walks INTO a room want to instantly walk OUT of a room."

"Sounds great. Do it." Star says.

"In your job, I'd be more worried if you weren't." Sachiko says.

Koko returns, carrying a tray of marbles, and gives you a little friendly wave through the glass window before she tries the door. It opens smoothy and she walks through. She looks at the warding seal, tilts her head, and then clucks her tongue.

"Well, points for creativity and effort girls." She says, setting the tray down on the table. "But it looks like that isn't your forte. No worries though! Let's move on to the next test.

"Now, before I got here, I picked a marble. I want YOU to pick the same one that I picked. No rush, take your time."

There are twenty five marbles in a 5 x 5 grid pattern. They are all identical.

Grab all 25, that way we still get the one she got. Loophole Abuse ho!
>>
>>33977453
Heh, we're gonna fail Sachiko.
>>
>>33977453
>Try and cheat by using your 'phone' (aka PKE meter)
Say that our divination is based on using photo frames, like in Silent Frame.
>>
>>33977453
I think we made a mistake with picking these guys first.
>>
>>33977524
Isn't that what you wanted?
>>
>>33977453
Use PKE Meter, Star and Sachiko, if asked, Ghostbusters lent it to them, make then seem nontraditional.
>>
>>33977569
>>33977547
Right now as far as they know Star isn't a GB, we don't want to blow their cover yet.
>>
>>33977524
That's the goal here as I understand it, make P-COC reject her so she isn't under their thumb.
>>
>>33977524
I don't think that's a good idea.

I'm pretty sure we're screwed regardless of what we do.
>>
>>33977569
>make then seem nontraditional.
I was going to say that being lesbians is non-traditional enough, then I remembered that those kinds of relationships even came up in jidaigeki samurai tv shows (from 20 years ago), so, maybe it's not as non-traditional as originally thought.
>>
>>33977603
That's not the problem here she may or may not have already registered and be entrapped anyway just by signing, regardless of her skill.
>>
>>33977453
>Try and cheat by using your 'phone' (aka PKE meter)

>>33977603
I'm pretty sure even if it DOES work like that, and we can get her rejected, they can impose sizable penalties, like make it so she can no longer run a temple.

We fucked up.

Again.
>>
>>33977635
I think the best bet would be the reveal that she's working with a ghostbuster, they'd have no choice but to fire her.

But that would probably backfire horribly.
>>
>>33977547
>>33977569
>>33977676

Star fumbles with her PKE meter.

"Is there something going on?" Koko asks.

"Well, I sometimes can 'see' better when I'm looking at it through a camera, you know. Like in that video game?" Star says. "So I want to look at this by way of my phone camera."

> Roll 1d8
>>
>>33977453
>Let Sachiko pick one
Just let her show that she's worth keeping a temple.
>>
You know we could have also stated Star was a scientific parapsychologist. The ghostbusters aren't the only ones out there.

Which is worse, getting thrown out and being branded a failure on the national registry that Sachiko's bosses use to determine funding (because why wouldn't they when they know that magic is real), or keep going deeper into the trap laid out for her?

Honestly, it's awful both ways.

Especially since we're not going to take P-COC out right now. They're much too entrenched for that.
>>
>>33977771
Koko makes a 'go ahead' gesture.

The PKE picks up a large signal. One of the marbles has been deliberately charged with PKE energy. Star can pick it out no problem.

Also, Koko is putting off a larger than normal PKE reading. However, it's almost identical to the same kind of PKE reading that someone would get from scanning Star, or Sachiko, or any other person who spends their time elbows deep in the paranormal.

If Sachiko had delayed, then they would have sent someone by to check on her.
If Sachiko had been thrown out before, then she would have been blacklisted on the registry that her bosses, the miko council, and the Emperor use to determine if she'll be allowed to stay a miko.

No matter what we did, they all had bad consequences.
>>
>>33977832
>Partially mess up, say 'it's one of these four/three/two' and pick the right marble and a few duds.

Looks like Koko at least is human.
>>
>>33977832
>Pick out the exact right marble.
Go all out. Trying to straddle the middle road was bad for us last time.
>>
>>33977832
>Pick out the exact right marble.
We'll play along for now, but once anything else happens I feel pretty secure in declaring war on this chick.
>>
>>33977832
> Pick out the exact right marble.
And, this is very important, keep the marble. Do not let Cocoa puffs have it.
>>
>>33977890
How are we supposed to sell that? I'm not overly confident in our sleight of hand skills.
>>
Guys if we do this, we're gonna make Sachiko look bad, because Star's doing all the work.

We should have saved them for last.
>>
Right now, our only hope is the fire alarm interrupts the test.

"This one." Star says, plucking out the right marble.

Koko's eyebrows shoot up and she breaks into a huge grin. "That's exactly right! Well DONE, you two!"

"Can I keep it, then? For luck?" Star asks.

Koko shrugs. "Sure."

Star pockets it.

Koko gets out a small novelty snowglobe. It's a cheap one you can get in the gift store of the Tokyo Tower. There's the tower itself among all the little flakes. She flicks a switch and a little light turns on in the snow globe. It's blue.

"All you need to do, is to change the color of this light from blue, to green, then to red, and then black to blue. You can't let go of the snow globe." Koko says. "Who wants to try first?"

Well, there's NO way you can do this. You have no idea about Sachiko either, who also looks clueless.

"I'll go first." You say. Might as well get it over with. You hold onto the globe and close your eyes and focus, and then relax. Nothing. Of course.

"That's okay." Koko says. "Different talent for different folks. Your turn!" She says to Sachiko.

Sachiko takes the snow globe and stares at it. Then she concentrates.

I'm not sure if this would help or hinder Sachiko passing this test.

Oh god I can practically see the /u/boats right now...
>>
>>33977996
I'm not sure which one we want.

>Do nothing and see if anything happens.
This is the last step. Well, this and tic-tac-toe.

Then it's red letter time.
>>

I'm thinking this allows the youkai to see what kind of power Sachiko has, so

> Take her other hand. Maybe that will effect things.
>>
>>33977942
>>33977973
Has anyone figured out what the Kimono actually is? That's our best bet of these two figuring out what's going on, PERIOD.
>>
>>33977980
>Do nothing and see if anything happens.
Let Sachiko's powers stand on their own.
It'd be terrible for her pride and self-confidence if she thought she couldn't do any magic on her own.
>>
>>33978039
Yes.

>>33976942

It's the Kimono that burnt down Edo.

It's not the Red String, it's the Fire.
>>

I'm curious to see if she is magic or not.

>>
>>33978058
Red Tape is clearly the documents the Mediums sign. People will mistake the Kimono as the focus and...yeah.
>>
>>33977980
>Do nothing and see if anything happens.
Die or fly, Sachiko. Possibly even literally depending on what P-COC is up to...
>>
>>33978097
I don't know, at the very least we should be insistent on reading the fine print of the contract before signing anything.

I mean it's in a red leather envelope.

That ain't legit.
>>
>>33978106
There's a split between hand holding and nothing.

Anyone want to change their vote?
>>
>>33978125
I thought it was 4 nothing to 3 hand holding?
>>
>>33978097
The thing with 'red tape' is that it's an American and English phrase, and it doesn't make sense in Japanese.
We might be going at this too much like Americans.
>>
Hand holding, no idea why.
>>
>>33978119
Oh, definitely. That's the reason why we're here. Sachiko isn't really awake yet, I think. She doesn't understand just how dangerous this could be and it's kinda our fault.
>>33978125
I never voted, so I vote hand-holding.
>>
>>33978132
You're right, I mis counted. Also, please someone archive this.
>>
>>33978125
We're already on page ten, I'm not sure we have time to go much farther.

Especially since we haven't done Daisuke's section yet.

Then again, now that I look back on it, we did a lot of stuff it feels like. Good job bringing the content.
>>
>>33978136
There's also the idea of Red String. That could be what binds everyone.
>>
>>33978148
Do you guys want to call it a night and pick up next week where we left off, or do you want to open up a new page? I can't guarantee we'll do much more than finish Star and Sachiko's part. (Although, depending on how you do Daisuke's could end up being pretty short)
>>
>>33978173
Eh, call it a night I feel like.

Waste of a thread otherwise.
>>
>>33978173
I'd like to keep going, but you shouldn't push yourself if you're feeling finished for the night.
>>
>>33978173
I want to keep going.
>>
>>33978192
Seconding, this mirrors what I feel.
>>
>>33978173
I don't see it worth archiving a new thread with just a handful of posts.
>>
>>33978173
Next week. we only have about 1-2 hr left. But really the decision up to you.
