Stage 23: Teeth, Eyes, Tails, and Other Important Bits.

You are looking into the gleaming yellow eyes of a very frightening creature. In her defense, she has so far done right by you, has not threatened you or anyone you love, and has even made a fairly decent bargain with you. You deliver her request to your father for a specific magical jewel, and she ensures you and those you love don't have to be afraid of anyone stabbing them with Kusanagi-no-Tsurugi for one-hundred and eight years. You don't even have to bring Kanju, the jewel that lowers the tides across the entire world back to her, only deliver the request. Of course if he agrees then you do have to deliver the jewel to her personally, but still.

As part of that bargain, of course, she is going to teach you or enable you to go visit Ryujin, the Dragon God of all the Oceans. Your father. And perhaps you will meet your mother two, which is an unnerving sort of thought. Still, Hinata seems to be very forthright and understandable and fair-minded so far. Despite Kiki-hime's fears, she seems like an all-right sort of holy-person.

No, what really scares you is the fact that you don't know of any youkai or kami that have three rows of shark-like teeth, which Hinata-hakase most certainly does. You have no idea how they all fit inside her mouth, but if she hadn't let that slightly mocking smile slip, you wouldn't have known about them at all.

“Now, lie back, and I will fetch something to ease your wounds.” She rises slowly, her mantle over her shoulders as she leaves the healing room in quiet grace.
>>
>>33936630
Kiku is staring after her, though you are not sure if your priestess was shocked by the fact that Hinata-hakase stated without doubt or question that you are the reincarnation of the Dragon God of destruction, or if she is shocked because Hinata-hakase implied that you will destroy a very large portion of Tokyo by revealing that fact to the spiritual world at large when you finally lose your temper. Unless she didn't know about the teeth either. Which is even a scarier idea.

[] “Think she's good for it, Kiku-chan?”
[] “You do know I'm not planning on redesigning Tokyo, right, Kiku-chan?”

“Certainly, Hinata-hakase. I'll just bleed a little more for now.” She smiles – lips closed, her eyes amused – and continues on her way out. Seeing things. Totally. Because of the detrimental side effects of the needles shot through many of your Chi meridians. Right. Absolutely.

“You're lucky I can fix that, Kiku-chan,” you comment mildly as pull your diminutive friend back to reality but drawing the blood-tinged water from her silk kimono, and put it with the rest in the basin. She looks down, startled and quickly rinses the cloth in fresh water before continuing her slow rubdown of your body. Funny, in another setting this might be foreplay or a prelude to other interesting things, but you have absolutely no desire to pursue such things after those revelations. Assuming there were two, and not one.

Also, temple, no lewd things in the temple. Well, this temple. There might be some where it's okay.

“So, do you prefer two pieces or one pieces?”

“What are you talking about, baka-dragon?” Kiku-chan's voice is still low, but her biting wit is back in full force. She had you worried for a while.

“Swimsuit.”

She pauses and looks at you, her golden eyes huge. “What?”

“....you HAVE gone to the beach before, Kiku-chan, haven't you?” You look at her ingenuously.
>>
She looks down and scrubs another section of your skin clean and mumbles something.

“....what did you say?”

“I've never, Ryukusa-aniki.” She's blushing now, and her expression is as close to humiliation as you have seen.

“I know you can't swim, but you really haven't ever gone to the beach?” The idea of it boggles the mind. She's lived near the ocean her whole two-and-a-half-plus centuries of life and hasn't ever gone on a beach trip? That's just....it's criminal, that's what it is. “Well, then, I'll just have to ask Er Yin which she prefers you in. I was thing something red, with maybe open spots here and there.

“Hai, Ryukusa-aniki,” she murmurs meekly, her cheeks red and her hair floating. You reach up, running your hand through her fine hair. She sighs and relaxes, shaking her head. “Ecchi-dragon....”

“Yuri-dragon.” you stroke her hair a few more times, amused by her compliance to being dressed up by you. Then you murmur almost inaudibly, “Did you see her teeth?”

“....many teeth?”

“Three rows, I counted.”

“Like sharks teeth, but not like a shark's mouth.”

You nod solemnly.

“I thought it was an illusion.”

You glance at the hallway. “I think she slipped up a little. Or she was....I don't know. You still trust her?”

“Hai, Ryukusa-aniki. I still trust her.”

You close your eyes as she washes your left arm, the deeper cuts inflicted by Hidesato still bleeding pretty freely. “If it is Kiku-chan, then I believe it.”

[X] Oh, this should pass time while we bleed.

You consider for a moment, and then start writing on the wood of the table. Attentive, Kiku watches as you write, though she works on trying to clean the wounds around your arm. You silently inform her that you wish her to try and learn more about what youkai might have human-like but yellow eyes and mouthfuls of teeth like that, and which might fear the sun and the moon. After the fourth town soaks through with your blood, you control your Water, and the bleeding ceases.

“You should not do that, baka-dragon, you have used much of your Shen,” she chides gently.

“Well, considering those wounds were caused by ~that blade~ I'd rather spend the energy. Besides, I'm only as spent as I was last time I fought her.” You decline to bring up the fact that you should be utterly spent and exhausted. Some things people just don't need to know. “Have you ever trapped an enemy in a Barrier, Kiku-chan?”

She nods, slightly once. “I would not discuss such a thing in this temple, Ryukusa-aniki.” Interesting. A yes, but with a warning. You don't know if the warning is about this place, or about who she caught. Easy enough to switch subjects!

“I'm thinking Er Yin is going to be getting a nice halter top style swimsuit. Maybe a one piece that connects at the waist so there's all that side showing as well as back. She's not ~quite~ as big as Kiki-hime, so that would look just nice on her.” Kiku-chan's hair bursts into flaming motion.

“You wouldn't!”

You look at her blandly. “Well, yes, because Kiki-hime HAS to be the one in the bikini. It's like the law of every beach episode in every anime ever, the one with the biggest booms has to wear the bikini. Though, I think one of the width adjustable ones. Just so it'll be an accident when she spills out finally.”

Kiku-chan stares at you, then bursts into laughter.
>>
>>33937529
“And while I was thinking about putting you in the school uniform style swimsuit, I realized that it would have to be Yui, because she's such a tomboy. She'll be beside herself, totally feminine look.” You frown seriously. “Of course, I may have to actually put padlocks on Akari's this time...”

Hinata-hakase walks in and looks down at you, bemused, even as Kiku-chan schools her expression with not a whole lot of success. You look over at her calmly. “She always 'loses' her swimsuits.” Kiku-chan's hair explodes again, and her cheeks are quite red.

Hinata is carrying a tray of bandages and some shimmering blue-green salve in a jar. Hair tingles at the ends slightly, and your horns itch in the presence of it. “So, she does not like them?”

“They mysteriously disappear every time she goes deeper than a few feet in the water. Which made swimming lessons at school quite interesting.” Kiku-chan is blushing, and you study the ointment. “What is that, Hinata-hakase?”

She smiles and starts laying the bandages over those places on your body you suffered the splinters and needles from the worst. Kiku-chan immediately starts wetting them and plastering them, and they stick to your skin immediately. Not medicine then. “So, it is a way to let one who has mikoto become closer to their mikoto, making them more spirit than flesh. So, there is enough for three people to travel there and back, if one wished to ensure a safe return.” She leaves unsaid the idea that six could travel there one-way, or one person could travel there and back thrice. It seems pretty extravagant.

[X] Your generosity is appreciated, Hinata-hakase.

[] That is an awful lot, Hinata-hakase. What's the catch?
[X] You know, in the old stories, didn't giving someone more than they needed ask for trouble?

“Thank you very much for your kindness, Hinata-hakase,” you murmur, as Kiku-chan works on the bandages along your upper left arm more attentively. “Still, I cannot help but wonder.” Kiku-chan gives you a glare, but you ignore it for the moment.

“So, it is a sign of wisdom to wonder,” Hinata says mildly, her secretive smile still gentle.

“In many old tales, it was said to receive more payment than was necessary brought misfortune. It seems a great deal of a potent ointment to me, for such a small duty to fulfill.” You haven't accepted the ointment yet, so it is worth bringing it up now.

Hinata-looks you in the eyes, still smiling as she lays more bandages for Kiku-chan to work on. Though your priestess seems to be having some trouble with the wounds in your left arm, for some reason, even though you're not bleeding. “Under most circumstances, this would be true. But it may be that you wish to take one with you, perhaps two.”

“Hinata-hakase, are you trying to tell me something?” You had thought it might be something sinister, but it sounds more like she's suggesting something pleasant, even joyful in nature.

“Uso, Ryukusa-san. So, I am merely ensuring I have done my part appropriately, to please the kami I serve.” Her eyes and yours meet, and you can see in her gaze there isn't anything malicious, only something that she finds amusing. It might be worthwhile to use Water Eyes on her, but she can detect your use of them – Kiku-chan's story warned you about that. “Are you troubled, Kiku-san?”
>>
>>33938013
“These were caused by Ame-no-Murakumo-no-Tsurugi, Hinata-hakase,” Kiku-chan explains. You can see that despite your use of power, the bandages are still absorbing blood, even though you can feel you are not leaking any.

Hinata smiles faintly and gestures for Kiku-chan to move. She lays her fingers along the wounds, but you make no sound as she explores them gently. Not that it doesn't cause you excruciating pain, but you're not allowed to let her know that. You do notice that her fingernails are a burned orange color, not really fingernails so much as they are claws. Maybe even talons. She presses firmly, and you can't help but wince a little; someone else would have screamed.

Seeming satisfied, and smiling far too wide for her not to have enjoyed that, Hinata slowly makes pulling motions above your arm. You feel something sliding out of your arm, and it isn't your blood. You glance over and see her drawing strange blood-colored writhing things, like worms or tiny serpents, or some strange youkai from the wounds.

“These would have made the wounds corrupt. It is the nature of the blade Ame-no-Murakumo-no-Tsurugi poisoning your own. Your power was used too late to prevent it, but none of it will cause you trouble now.” She holds them out without touching them, the squirming knot of supernatural living poison-spirits caught by invisible strings, and Kiku-chan pulls a brass urn from ~Nowhere~ and lets Hinata deposit them within. She lids the urn and gives it to Hinata-hakase. “If you do not mind, I will keep those. So, consider it payment for having removed them.”
>>
>>33938096
She lays a finger on your forehead and your power is disrupted, the same chi technique you use in Kiki-hime, except far stronger. But the bleeding is far less than it was before, so it is of no consequence. Well, except for the fact you know she can do that. Kiku-chan starts finishing the other bandages. You look kind of like an accident victim. Oh wait, you beat the crap out of two demigods, HAH!

>>
[X] That sounds entirely fair, Hinata-hakase.
[] As long as you don't use them on me or mine, they're all yours.
[X] Are they a kind of youkai, or are they a kind of Shen energy?
[X] Hinata-hakase....you are a very different sort of person.
[] Could you teach another healer how to do that? My oni-friend is pretty skilled.

“I cannot help but see that as fair, Hinata-hakase,” you agree mildly, though her sadism has you on guard. “What are they, Hinata-hakase? Not a poison, and not alive. I would have felt them in my blood or flesh.”

Kiku-chan is finishing the last bandages, and Hinata-hakase rises, looking down at you. “So, you are correct. So, they are a kind of Shen manifestation, much like a possession without charms or a haunting spirit's curse. Once they are part of you, they cannot be removed except by exorcism or powerful medicines. “ You're pretty certain what she did was neither of those; probably not anything another healer could learn. “Still, they can serve uses other than to cause pain and death, if cleansed and properly prepared. So, in time, they could become a youkai, but that would require a great deal of death.”

You look up at Hinata, and then sit up as Kiku finally finishes the last bandage. “Then thank you again for protecting my well being, Hinata-hakase, and that of my family again. I will know what to look for, now. While many may fear you, I think that you are simply....a different sort of person, than any expect you to be.” Looking into her eyes as you say that, you smile, but you don't let that smile quite reach your eyes; her smile widens; she picked up on that little warning quite quickly.

“So, you are a perceptive person, Ryukusa-san. I will bring you a kimono; then we may see to your sister and her friend.” She leaves, bearing the jar with her.
>>
>>33938804
“Bakayaro dragon, are you trying to make her angry?” Kiku hisses softly in your ear.
Reaching up behind her with your right hand, you run your finger along her spine. She immediately stands bolt upright and makes tiny 'eee-eee-eee' sounds.

“Don't limit yourself to Japan. Look elsewhere.” She shudders as you draw your finger away, her cheeks flushed. “H....hai....hai, Ryukusa-tan....” You look sidelong at her and she's still standing perfectly straight, her hands clenched into tight fists. Really sensitive, that girl.

As Kiku-chan struggles to recover her wits. Hinata-hakase comes in with a plain black robe for you. You put it on, noting that Hinata-hakase watches your movement, rather than you as a person. “How is Kushinada-san, Hinata-hakase?”

Hinata smiles slightly. “So, she is sealed, for the moment. So, I will ensure she is taken care of, and will trouble you no more for now. Uso, she will be free to leave safely soon enough.” So Hinata-hakase is only going to let her leave after you dealt with Kushinada and Hidesato's 'benefactors' – the 'aid bumon,' also known as the Hojo Group, revealed by Hidesato as she tried to poison you.

Just before you summoned up an eight-headed dragon of darkness to swallow her alive until she has cleansed her karma with you.
>>
>>33938826
Your sister and her secretary are resting peacefully on two futons, still sealed, but this time by Hinata-hakase's blue and white seals rather than the yellow and red that Hidesato used. “So, I sealed them until you decided what you would like to have done with them. While they may not be aware of your true nature, it would be unfortunate if the young woman made inferences that Jinyuu-san accidentally made obvious when she should not.” She has a point – Hebe Yumiko is a Clan Ryo dragonette, even if she is not serving them directly.

[] Wake them both now.
[] Wake Yumiko and send her on her way, then wake Jinyuu-onee-sama.

Uso = false
So = true
In this way Hinata can lie while truthfully saying that she never lied because she indicated what is true and what is false openly.
>>
>>33938950
So means "truth or it's true", and Uso is "it's unbelievable" or "it's untrue". Hinata's speaks with an unusual dialect of Japanese, but she also uses the terms to say things that can be interpreted as 'untrue' without lying.

Ryukusa is aware that doesn't make her incapable of lying, though.
>>
>>33938992

So you missed the entire explanation of what they mean, and how it lets Hinata-hakase lie without getting caught in circles of truth and other lie-detecting wards?

Truth is only a matter of perspective, anyway...

[X] Wake Jinyuu first, then Yumiko.

You reach out to remove the seal and then yank your right hand back as Kiku-chan slaps your wrist. “Baka dragon, you'll burn yourself!” She starts praying softly, as Hinata-hakase watches you both with some amusement

“Really?” You consider and then snatch the seal off with your left hand before Kiku-chan completes the prayer she started. . Rather than burning you, there is a sharp sizzling-snap, and the paper ignites, burning white. You can feel the cold radiating from it, and the paper fades into nothingness. “Huh. Neat.” You can sense that Hinata-hakase is slightly alarmed by that, though she says nothing.

Jinyuu-onee-sama opens her eyes and takes stock of the situation, before sitting up. “Aka-chan....” Her eyes immediately fill with worry, seeing the many bandages you are wrapped up in.

“It's not nearly as bad as it looks, onee-chan. How are you? Did they harm you?” You try and keep your voice politely inquisitive, but you let her see the worry in your eyes.

Jinyuu-onee-sama smiles and places her hands in her lap, bowing her head slightly. “I am sorry, Aka-chan. They took my secretary hostage, and if I did not surrender, they threatened to kill her. She was quite in shock, and clearly knew nothing of their intents.” If anyone would know, it would be your sister. “I have been very careful to not allow poor Yumiko into what is a private family matter, but I am sure you have discovered for yourself that such things are not always possible.” She glances meaningfully at Hinata-hakase.

You reassure your sister quickly. “Hinata-hakase and I have an agreement or three. She's been very kind to me.” And she only scared you a little, which you're not telling your sister EVER. “Yumiko-san doesn't know anything then?”

Your sister looks a little unsure of herself. “If she does, it is not known to me, or from me that she found out. I do not know what she may have learned from Hidesato-san or Kushinada-san.”

You glance at Kiku-chan who nods slightly, but says aloud, “I cannot do anything here, baka-dragon, this is is a holy place.”

“So,” agrees Hinata-hakase. “So, I can protect your sister here, for some time. Uso, I can hide her here.” Ugh, she can protect her but not conceal her. Well, you might have to see about that apartment upgrade.

“I am afraid you'll have to come home with me, Jinyuu-onee-sama. It might be a little strange for you, but it's the only way to keep you safe, at this point.” You look up at Hinata-hakase. “Which is not to say I do not appreciate the offer, but you have done more than your share for me already, Hinata-hakase.”

She inclines her head, her yellow eyes flashing with amusement.

“I think we'll have to borrow your secretary for a bit as well. It will be a problem, but I'll work something out.” Of course, you have this sick feeling in the pit of your stomach as you realize you're going to have your SISTER over to your house. And there's also a small promise you made to Yui and Akari. Your sister know you like lilies, but that might be pushing things a bit far. Still, they'd understand.

Fuck, you'll just have to face the landlord tonight and ask her if she has something larger he can put you into.

With a sigh, you turn and bow deeply to Hinata. “thank you very much for everything, Hinata-hakase. I will hope to return with news for you in a week, as I have pressing matters I must deal with in the next few days.”

She bows back. “So, I will await your return patiently. So, there is no given time for you to complete the task.” Hinata pulls the jar of ointment out of ~nowhere~ and hands it to you, giving you the instructions for its use. “The Temple is open to all, at all times, though I rarely receive visitors, Ryukusa-san. I hope you will give offerings one day, when you are less beset upon.”

“I'll remember your invitation, Hinata-hakase,” you say, bowing again. She merely inclines her head this time, and directs you to leave through the back of the temple, rather than the front, as the seal upon Yumiko's forehead will break if she enters the temple proper. You easily pick up the inert Yumiko, and your sister and Kiku-chan walk with you as you decide how you'll be getting home.

So, before we leave
hinata said she wants the pearl to lower the tides to protect her shrine from when ryokusa goes horobi and creates a tsuanami
Well, what if we go horobi in a controlled manner, under the watchful eye of hinata and ryujin, to ensure we don't destroy anything
I am sure that the destruction of tapping into power we already got is less than first attempt to reach for it, especially if we can practice controlling it first

By and large, everyone is silent as you leave the Temple of Forgotten Flowers and Stones. Partly because there is not too much to say, but mostly because it is pretty dark out, and the woods are fuckin' spooky as all heavens and hells combined. Sure, you're traveling on a protected path with a powerful seer and your own personal priestess, and you can STILL feel things watching you from the woods. And you might be big and bad, but some of those things are just....icky. Their very gaze leaves you feeling soiled. There's a steam just off the side of the....

Uh, yeah, no, that ain't happening.

Fuck there are some scary as shit creatures in Hinata's woods.

As you bow, twice before leaving the last – or first, really but whatever – torii, and step out onto the road, you feel immensely better. Kiku and Jinyuu-onee-sama feel it as well, from the relieved looks on their faces.

“You served there for over a hundred years, Kiku-chan? That's hardcore.” She covers her mouth with her sleeve. “I have to make a call, just wait here.” You leave them by the benches on the other side of the street from the temple entrance and pull out your phone.

except by other gods who contain his power and the attempt to direct the nature of the destruction (ex, destroy enemies rather then destroy half of japan). There will still be destruction, but it can be kept to a minimum when it comes to terrain and or bystanders

>so far ignored because of just how bad it is.

1. You don't think unlocking the power in say, the north pole or a desert will cause less damage (to less important stuff) then doing it in the center of tokyo?
2. If the power could not be mitigated by any god, then that would mean that we are literally omnipotent. And can single handedly take on the entire world and win. Instagibbing every kami and kamuyi in existence simultaneously. Since we can't, it means the power has limits and it can be opposed by other deities.

>>33940405
Those are good ideas all around. I just wanted to ask hinata's advice on the matter before leaving her shrine. but asking ryujin first is fine too
>>
>>33940521
>You don't think unlocking the power in say, the north pole or a desert will cause less damage (to less important stuff) then doing it in the center of tokyo?
Several tsunamis that were quite devastating to Japan started in Chile. No, there is no "safer" spot, not when oceans are involved.
>>
>>33940521
1. No, because our power is centered in Japan, so Japan is what is going to experience the backlash of Horobi's resurrection.
2. The power feedback that is created during the birth and death throes were stronger than normal, and the kami and kamuy were either unable to mitigate the destruction caused by Horobi's death throes when he died, or they did and it STILL devastated Japan.
>>
>>33940605

>No, because our power is centered in Japan, so Japan is what is going to experience the backlash of Horobi's resurrection.
that is a possibility, something to look up

>The power feedback that is created during the birth and death throes were stronger than normal, and the kami and kamuy were either unable to mitigate the destruction caused by Horobi's death throes when he died, or they did and it STILL devastated Japan.
A. This time they will be informed in advance and have time to prepare, which makes a huge difference compared to "oh shit, a tsunami!"
B. Normally the death/birth throes of the god of destruction are very traumatic and he isn't exactly trying to contain his own power. In a controlled access this won't be the case, we would be relaxed, safe, and fully focused on controlling it and not letting to run amok
C. We aren't actually the god of destruction, we will be ascending to demigod of destruction only, much less power.
D. Worst case scenario is that they tell us "no, we cannot contain this even with preparation"
>>
>>33940727

Not yet. That's an ace we can keep up our sleeve until we really need a breather, right now the situation is all things considered still under control.

Your first call is pretty much the important call, and one you suspect your sister and kiku-chan are expecting you to make, because every time you've been out of contact shit hit the fan somewhere else. Akari answers on the first ring.

“Hai, aniki?”

“Is everything all right there?”

“Yes, aniki. We're all okay.” You smile, her lack of concern for you more reassuring than any worry she might voice for you. “I found your records, but I didn't let anyone else know.” You shudder. No one must ever know about your Styx collection. Akari, she's all right. She knows how to keep her mouth shut. Speaking of....

“Perfect, thank you, Akari-niji-chan!”

You return to your sister and Kiku-chan; they've gotten poor Yumiko up on the bench and Kiku has pulled a hoodie out of ~Nowhere~ and between the two of them they have the poor office lady bundled up and hooded, looking like she's had just a bit too much to drink. Except for the blue-and-white paper charm stuck on her forehead. Chi-chan is gonna love that, you can tell all ready.

“Well, I've arranged for a bigger apartment, and I have transportation on the way. Everyone is okay at home,” and it is with little surprise that you see several knots untie themselves in Kiku, “so that is all taken care of.”

“What about moving? Won't that be a risk, aniki?” You give Kiku-chan a mild glare and she sticks her tongue out and pulls her eyelid down at you. Jinyuu-onee-sama smiles gently at you and you let it pass.

The landlady has a lot of things he can do about it that won't cause her any trouble.” Jinyuu and Kiku are both looking at you funny. “Believe me, you'll understand when you see the landlord. So, moving isn't an issue. But we're awfully close to Clan Ryo, so, if you wouldn't mind Kiku-chan?” You make a couple of hand gestures and she nods.

“Hai, Ryukusa-aniki.” You sigh as she darts off almost faster than you can see. “I keep telling them, you know, onee-sama.”

“Yes, Aka-chan, I know.” She smiles as you settle down at her feet, cross legged on the ground. “they do care about you very much, your friends.”

Well, you can't get a better lead in than that. You take a deep breath. “About that, onee-sama. You know how you said it was okay if I liked lilies? And that it didn't matter to you if I had children? I mean before all this strange stuff started.” You smile. “I guess these kids part is okay then. But that's another thing. Um. Anyways....” This is harder than you thought.

“Do you like Kiki-san that much, Aka-chan?” She smiles indulgently.

“Well, yes, I do, actually. Of course, there's also the fact that Akari and Yui want me to sleep with them tonight.” She looks amused, clearly not getting it. “Annnnd there's the fact that Kiku-chan's dominatrix wants to go on a date with me and Kiku, preferably a nice date with sleeping together after.” Slowly Jinyuu-onee-sama's face changes from amusement, to bemusement, to confusion. “AAAaannnnnd, when I say they want to sleep with me, I mean they want to have sex with me. I'm not sure exactly who is getting tied up with Akari and Yui, though, so don't ask me. I'm positive that the domme and I are going to double team Kiku though, so there's that. And Kiki-hime approves, thoroughly, so there's that too.”

Now she just looks stunned.

“Well, I really do love them all,” you say, perhaps a little defensively. You also recall that she doesn't know about Er Yin yet, other than what you just told her.

“Well, I hadn't quite expected you to take it quite so far, Aka-chan,” she admits, looking a little shell shocked.

“If it makes you feel better, I kind of surprised myself too. Apparently, it's not the first time Horobi has done it either.” She blinks, and then looks at you seriously.

“That is a very dangerous thing I think, Ryukusa.” Oh dear.

Tell her everything. Or maybe don't, since that puts her at risk.

[+] Take some damn precautions, you ditzy dragonette!

You sweep some winds around you, and then add a soft bit of evening fog over a large area, and then add just enough rain to muddle your words, making that inside the fog in a circle around you and your sister, protecting you from being noticed or overheard. And since you'd feel resistance or notice movement in the fog, you now have a secure perimeter that includes above you

And there's Kiku, sitting atop the lamp post using her Fire Eyes to make sure you're coast is totally clear.

That's odd.

“Really it just comes down to people were hurting them, and they were all people whom I really liked. Loved, if you want to be technical about it. I love them all, a lot. And I'm not going to let people continue to hurt them, onee-sama.” You look up at her, your and she looks directly at your right eye. A dawning look of horror flits across her face, and you realize she's understood more than she probably wanted to.

You smile brightly. “Actually, thanks to some professional help from Kiku-chan's domme, I've actually become as dangerous as I can possibly get without causing any problems, like Wrecking Tokyo, or sinking Japan, or setting off Mount Fuji.” She looks startled and you can see her Water eyes become active – which is REALLY odd now. “You won't be able to see anything. It's only obvious in a Barrier. That's why we didn't wake you immediately – I didn't want to have to do something drastic to Yumiko. That's also why I have Hidesato trapped in my Barrier and turned over Kushinada to Hinata-hakase, so I didn't have to kill her.” The humor is gone from your voice.
>>
>>33942587
Her Water Eyes fade – which is interesting, because you're not supposed to be able to notice stuff like that. Maybe it's a quality of creatures with all five elements like youkai-born and demigods. You can sense Kiku's too.

“It really wasn't my fault entirely. It just fell into place around me. Certainly I've done my part to make them happier, and there isn't a single one I won't protect with my life....” You remember what you said to Er Yin, in the flames of truth. “But the simple fact of the matter is, I won't have to. I promised; I, Ryuu Ryukusa promised to protect them. Not with any power but my own.” You shrug mildly. “I just happen to have that power, if I need it.”

You feel the car enter the fog at a rate of speed that no sane driver would go. “And there's our ride.” The van squeals around the corner, and you flick a water droplet at Kiku to let her know you're done. She is there in two heartbeats as you pick up the still sealed Yumiko.

Your sister looks very worried, and you glance at her. “Besides, it's too late now, onee-sama. You'll just have to trust me.”

Suddenly she laughs, her soft, feminine laughter. “Yes, Aka-chan, you're right. I will trust you. It can't be helped.”

“Baka dragon, but beautiful dragon,” comments Kiku and you give her a weird look as the dark red minivan screeches to a halt.

“Hey, Aoi-chan! These your bitches?” The smoke roughened, casually insulting voice of Hyun Chisato is like music to your ears.

“Well, yes, and no. This is my older sister, this is my cross-dressing loli, and this is my kidnap victim.” Chi-chan opens the back door, while your sister and Kiku-chan stare in utter shock as the tattooed, leather wearing, jeans clad mobster utterly human woman moves back tot he front seat.

“Cool, cool. Better hurry, before someone makes the plates. Lucky this fog rolled in, huh?”

“Totally lucky, Chi-chan.” You usher the others inside and belt Yumiko in. “Get us out of here, babe!”

“You bet, Aoi-chan!” And with that, she guns the engine and screeches the tires, leaving smoking rubber in the wake of the stolen van.

This question? >>33936746
I personally figure spritual suicide is probably overstating things
>>
>>33942699

I had a question actually: to the best of the team's knowledge, how good/bad was the relation between Ryujin and Horobi?
>>
>>33942648
I swear, I like her already.

>>33942699
Thanks for running, XS!

How big will our new apartment be?
>>
>>33942648
Sad we can't show her the flat.

>>33942699
So how many left in the arc/hit list until we have a breather?
>>
>>33942741
Since you placed Hinata-hakase under a spiritual and moral obligation to help Kushinada so that you didn't have to kill her (by making her accept that if she didn't you would stain your karma in her temple), it would actually be bad karma on Hinata if she allowed Kushinada to kill herself, die, or reveal your secret.

Ryukusa basically guilt tripped Hinata into taking on Hinata as a project. It's all on Hinata now, and she can't blame or revenge herself upon you, because it's her duty as a miko. mind you, Ryukusa admitted it wasn't entirely fair.
>>
>>33942927
Ah, So it wouldn't be bad Karma for Kushinada to refuse a reasonable request from us?
>>
>>33942789
Horobi served Ryujin, basically. He was the one who took the blame for the typhoons, tsunami, and earthquakes regardless of their actual source. Ryujin respected that. so, basically, respected vassal, is as near as it can be understood.

>>33942812
4 bedroom, 2 1/2 bath. And decorated in pastels.

>>33942843
You have two days before the fight with Goto. After that, you can take some time. In theory.
>>
>>33942927
Beach episode soon, or things are still too tense to even consider it?
>>
>>33943010

Okay, thanks. Looks like asking Daddy for some help controlling Horobi's powers is worth a shot...
>>
>>33942963
A reasonable request, she cannot refuse - and will be compelled to take. You DID defeat her in Barrier combat. As a result, you do have a certain amount of power over Kushinada. But only a very certain amount - she hates you enough already. But a reasonable request in keepign with her nature and power? she would be compelled to accept it and perform it to the best of her ability.

I misunderstood the original phrasing of the question. This also demonstrates why you can't generally practice barrier combat outside of close knit loved ones. Too easy to abuse the power granted by a win.
>>
>>33943024
Most likely after the duel with Goto. but anon is a tricky and unpredictable beast.
>>
>>33943089
Do we have a certain "bank limit" or time limit, or does this power over her last forever or until she defeats us?
>>
>>33943010
>Horobi served Ryujin, basically. He was the one who took the blame for the typhoons, tsunami, and earthquakes regardless of their actual source. Ryujin respected that. so, basically, respected vassal, is as near as it can be understood.
oho, so a respected and USEFUL vassal to ryujin? Yea, I can live with that as a job description.
Sounds like an actual reason for him to help us assume that power then.
It can be our "dayjob" so to speak once we have taken out our enemies
>>
>>33943125
What will happen in these two days? Training and the dates?
Also, we just smoked two demigods. How dangerous can one oni be in comparison?
>>
>>33943125
But is anaon as tricky and unpredictable as pastels?
>>
>>33943203

A full fledged oni is more dangerous than the mortal child of a god and a human, by dint of being a full-fledged spirit creature. Don't underestimate Goto, we have a serious fight waiting for us.
>>
>>33943203
Demigods are still spirit children. Goto almost killed Akari without using Barrier Combat by suffocating her, and Stone is the generator of Void. Mind you he did this AFTER beating the crap out of her badly enough that she had to destroy an artefact with a deity in it to survive his assault.

I would say very fucking dangerous.

On the other hand, Ryukusa is also very fucking dangerous.
>>
>>33943157
No time limit, though it does have to be in her capacity to fulfill (so if she's 80 and you want her to fight a demon, she can laugh in your face).
>>
>>33943203
and as for what will happen in the 2 days, that's up to anon, by and large. Most likely training and dates.
>>
>>33943210
Yes, but only slightly so.
>>
>>33943265
>A full fledged oni is more dangerous than the mortal child of a god and a human, by dint of being a full-fledged spirit creature. Don't underestimate Goto, we have a serious fight waiting for us.
Yea, people are assuming he would be weak, even after he rekt our crew and XS clarified where oni fall in the power scale

>The general scale for power among the spirit-born is so:
>WEAKSAUCE:
>Witches, spiritualists, magicians, sorcerers, priests.
>AVERAGE:
>Half-demons, oni-childs, dragonettes and dragonnes, youkai-tainted, demigods.
>TOUGHER THAN YOU BUT YOU'LL KICK ITS ASS ANYWAYS:
>Youkai, Kami, Demons, Ghosts, Oni.
>FUCK NO!
>Gods, True Dragons, Great Kami, Devils.

Hey... was the adviser of hojo group a devil or a half devil? because that makes a pretty big difference.
Also, half-devils aren't on the list.
>>
>>33943379
My god.

We're MONSTERS!
>>
>>33943420
I think its time to come out of the closet and stop being ashamed of what we are. admit to the world that you are a pastelophile
>>
>>33943395
Half-demon.

Devils cannot procreate, they're a special case, like Oni-Gods (there are a few).
>>
>>33943457
ah, i see
so, what is actually the difference between a demon and a devil? (accord to our clan education that is)
>>
So, "carp" is a deadly insult to dragon because it takes... was it a million years for one to grow into a dragon?
So, any carp that doesn't get killed ascends to dragon-hood eventually?
>>
>>33943395
Note that Kami includes artifact weapons and tools like the Grass-Cutting Blade, true Muramasa swords, true Murasama swords, etc.
>>
>>33943528
Does our blade count?
>>
>>33943471
A demon is a creature of chaos, born of human emotion and twisted into a monster. They were humans, but they became true mosnters at some point, except they retained their human nature, making them outside the mandates of the great Kami.

A Devil is basically a Great Kami that is evil in aspect (though not necessarily evil by nature). Enma-Oh is an example of a Devil - he rules hell, but that is his mandate and duty.
>>
>>33943605
Not yet. when nit reaches 100 years old, it will be a true kami. Currently it's just a possessed sword (which sounds rather mundane, but obviously that is nothing to laugh at, as Hidesato will attest).
>>
>>33943657
What does becoming a Kami actually do? Will it gain sapience at that point, or is it just a relatively meaningless honorific?
>>
>>33943657
Will that be from when the blade was forged or when we performed the sealing?
>>
Thank you for this thread!
>>
>>33943498
10,000 years. It's an insult because it implies that the dragonette or dragonne isn't worthy of their horns, scales, or claws - they're an uppity fish in a pond. Dragons are proud, regardless of their humility.

Yes, Ryukusa knows that calling Goto a criminal will enrage him utterly, and could get her killed. Calling Hinata a ghost would do the same - youkai born can't be ghosts, ever, because their spiritual nature breaks apart when they die. They have no afterlife, and reminding of that is a very bitter, cruel thing to do. They don't die naturally, and many can become true youkai.
>>
>>33943746
Note that Razor Wit and Cold Heart doesn't include namecalling of any sort.
>>
>>33943719
From when the blade was forged, but it's a modern weapon, sorry. Though the sealing will have an affect.

>>33943709
It has an effect in the spirit world. When it becomes a kami, the sword in and of itself is a spirit as well as a tool. It can be worshiped, and it can hear prayers, and it can take an active part in it's role as a sword and grant valor and success to those who wield it. Ame-Omukade-no-Musume will be a very potent weapon, right up there with Murasama and Muramasa weapons when she becomes a kami (and probably higher ranked)
>>
>>33943746
Why does calling an Oni a criminal make them so mad?

What if they have actually just committed a criminal act? Would saying, for example 'Stop right there, criminal!' make them hulk out on you?
>>
Okay. I have to sleep. Depending on the air quality and my rest, I hope to run tomorrow - I'll twitter in the middle of the night.

I'm glad you all mostly enjoyed.
>>
>>33943901
Yes. It's like calling a Romani a Gypsy - they know what they are, and it's still an insult to them.
>>
>>33943865
Does every object become spiritually relevant after 100 years?
Can YOU become spiritually relevant after 100 years?
>>
>>33943628
can the emotions that twisted a person into a demon be positive?
>>
>>33943901
>Why does calling an Oni a criminal make them so mad?
>What if they have actually just committed a criminal act? Would saying, for example 'Stop right there, criminal!' make them hulk out on you?
Its an insult because its true and they are in denial. Every oni is a criminal. But they like to think its "cultural" and "not that bad". to call them out on it is the greatest insult you can give them
>>
>>33944192
>Every oni is a criminal.
Isn't that a stereotype? I mean, Yui isn't.
>>
>>33944241
yui is only half oni.
also, IIRC she steals, lies, and cheats (not sex cheating, other cheating) compulsively.
We just don't mind and love her anyways. besides, its not like we are one to judge considering we come from a clan of supernatural yakuza and have yakuza friends and allies
>>
>>33944304 cont.
its not like this is the only stereotype that counts.
remember how we went automagic murdermode on yui for calling us a carp?
why? because EVERY dragon is prideful to an extreme. Even half dragons are brimming with pride.
insult their pride and they will kill you.
