NOTE: You will be getting options this episode that will result in die rolls. For example:

> Do Option A (1d6)
> Do Option B (2d6)
> Do Option C (3d6)

These rolls will be cumulative, and at a certain point your 'score' will be tallied and it will determine the result of a key event. All Ghost Rolls (4s) that you acquire will ALSO be noted and will apply to the event.

For an ideal scenario, you either want a very low score, or a very high score, with as few ghost rolls as possible.

Please roll when you pick your choice, first to three votes is picked, highest roll plays.

Gankoji Sachiko gets up as the alarm on her phone beeps. She drags herself up from her futon, and shuffles around, getting ready for the day.

She showers, gets dressed, and idly wonders if other priestesses have the same morning routine she does as she waits for the toaster.

They probably don't have a pile of letters at their front doors that are a combination of prayers, wishes, faulty utility reports, requests for help with translations and work visas, and other community concerns.

They certainly don't have a factory of lunatics across the street that have been up all night making noises that makes one think that they're running either a chop shop or a mad science laboratory...or both.

And she doubts if there's another priestess in Japan that, when they wake up, find two vampires in their house. One passed out on their couch, and the other sitting formally in the middle of the room.
>>
>>33803409
"Morning." Sachiko says to the old vampire as he turns to look at her when she enters the room with a piece of toast in her hand.

"Hello, honored holy woman." The old man says, getting up. "This one has returned. This one requests that he be sealed within his tomb."

Sachiko rolls her eyes. "You know, we don't have to do this every time." She says as she leads the old vampire to the supply room. She goes to the large standing dresser in there and opens the bottom drawer.

"You sure you don't want a spare pillow, or to line it with sheets like Kali does?" Sachiko asks as the old vampire carefully climbs into the long wooden box.

He shakes his head. "This one does not need such things. This one's wishes seal, until this ones' duty is time."

Sachiko closes the drawer. "Well, this one is starting to think that the old man needs to try to move into a century that has double digits."

Still, Sachiko is a woman of her word, and a decent host. Also, it isn't as if the old man asks for anything else.

> Place your hand on the drawer and say a simple prayer. It's good enough for the old man, and you have other things to do today. (1d6)

Sachiko grabs a seal tag from a box in the closet and she slaps it on the drawer.

"Sleep tight, old man." She says, and goes back into the kitchen.

Now it's bills, letters, and prayers over coffee and the rest of her toast.

The prayers are sorted for later, checks are written and put in envelopes, and responses to the requests for plumbers, electricians, and other people are made.

Eventually there's a groan, and another figure shuffles into the room.

"What time is it?" Kali asks.

"9ish." Sachiko says.

"AM or PM?" Kali asks.

"AM." Sachiko says.

"Bleh." Kali groans. She pours herself a glass of water and sits down at the table.

"And here I was thinking you'd be looking for a Bloody Mary." Sachiko says.

Kali makes a sound that sounds like a laugh mixed with a groan and a scoff of disgust. "Do you have to make that stupid joke EVERY morning?"

"Yes." Sachiko says. "You don't like it, you can go find another coffin."

"Mph." Kali says. "So, before I crash in the cabinet, I was wondering if you'd be interested in making some money."

Sachiko looks up from her work. "How?"

Kali grins. "I need you to defeat and banish me as I'm sucking the life from someone."

"Excuse me?" The priestess asks.

"You know I have money, right?" Kali says. "Well, it's not all from banking and compound interest. It's actually, mostly, from people who pay me to suck their blood."

"What." Sachiko says.

"Yeah, I dress up in this black and red dress, makeup, the works. I swoop in, do my thing, and swoop out." She grins. "Easy money, and a guilt free meal."

"Who...who on Earth PAYS a person to suck their blood?" Sachiko asks.

"All it takes is one google search." Kali grins. "People are freaky."

"Okay, so where do I come in?" Sachiko asks.

"Well, this guy...he wants a bit more of an 'experience' this time. I figure having a priestess come in, mid-feeding, and banish me would be a nice little thrill." She nods. "I'll split the fee with you." Kali says the figure. It's a decent amount of money.

"When is this?" Sachiko asks.

"Tonight." Kali says. "It won't be anything hard. I'll text you when to make your entrance, you come in, we play fight for a bit, maybe use some flash paper or whatever, and then I take off and you chase after me. Sound good?"

> No. Just...no. It's creepy enough that Kali sells her fangs like that. Sachiko's not going to be a part of this. Plus, her duties are sacred, holy, things. It isn't something that you just sell to anyone over the internet. This cheapens everything that she does. Kali can have her lifestyle, but Sachiko isn't going to be a part of it. "Pass."
> Eh, why not? The extra money is sorely needed around the Reject Zone, and it isn't as if anyone's being hurt or anything. Besides, what priestess doesn't want a chance to defeat a foul creature of the night? It could even be fun. "Sure. I'm in."

Sachiko looks thoughtful for a moment, "Any chance I can be anything but a Shinto Priest? I'd rather not let my faith be involved in this charade. It goes against my principles."

Kali shrugs. "Sure. You want to borrow one of my dresses, then? We're about the same size."

"Okay, but...what exactly am I going to be, then?" Sachiko asks.

"Eh, make up some stuff about being a wandering demon hunter, or whatever." She yawns. "I'll figure it out when I wake up."

"Alright, have a good rest." Sachiko says.

"Yep." Kali wanders off.

The morning routine completed, the day moves to the temple and answering the prayers and wishes that were delivered to her over the evening.

Sachiko lights the incense, prepares the altar, and goes through the rites.

Then comes the best part of her morning. The dance. She takes a few steps back, making sure that the floor is clear. Sachiko does a slow sweep with her foot, and turns and...

Looks into the faces of a small knot of people.

They're a collection of Zone residents who have come to get blessings, in person, for their various woes and concerns. They're also a little early today.

Sachiko stops mid-motion, and goes through the rituals for the people. Clapping loudly, saying prayers, and sending the prayers and hopes for these folks to the heavens.

It's actually not a bad day. You recognize one of the people that's come to see you. A hikikomori has actually breached the outside world. That's comforting...and also brings up bad memories.

Still, having all these people here...they want to see the proper shinto dances.

That's why Sachiko always tried to get in one dance early. That way she could do one dance for Herself. One dance that isn't ritual or dictated by others.

Ah well.
>>
>>33804727
I'd be more okay with no if it was just Sachiko deciding it wasn't her thing, as opposed to getting all judgy at Kali.
>>
>>33805823
The day passes by rather swiftly. People come with their prayers and their problems, and Sachiko deals with them as best she can. The idiots across the street seem to have ben busy all day either building things, or out on one of their 'calls.'

(Sachiko got a good laugh at lunch when she turned on the news and saw a puff piece of them being tapped getting pelted with canned drinks from a malfunctioning, possibly haunted, vending machine. They were covered in soda, welts, and using a garbage can lid as a shield agains the onslaught.)

It's the last group of the day. Sachiko goes through the routine as best as she can, but every part of her is aching to be let out.

She gets to the dance part of the ritual, she picks up her staff and clears the floor as the petitioners watch at the other end of the room.

Maybe...maybe she can let loose just a little?

> No. She has a duty to perform, and the dances have to be done in the proper fashion. Do it as she should, no deviations. (1d6)
> Well, maybe she can get into it a little. Keep the same forms, but mix up the tempo, an added step here, a twirl there, just shake things up a bit so she doesn't feel like she lost a whole day. (2d6)

Entire pantheons suddenly going missing and 'SOMETHING' still listening to those prayers isn't supposed to be possible, either.

Perhaps it's a case of the system still working even if the makers are away.

The gods might have been kidnapped, and still may be able to listen to prayers and worship but unable to really act beyond what divine power normally seeps down the ladder.

If something has figured out how to steal the worship power of another diety for themself even if their prayers are directed at their god which should empower them, that's a cosmic game changer beyond what even the Ghostbusters are capable of yet.
>>
>>33805942
Sachiko does the dance as normal, following the same well known steps. Sttill she puts her all into nailing it, and the people who come here appreciate the grace that she puts into them. There's been more than a few clunky mikos and priestesses on TV, half stumbling, half bouncing, through these steps. She can at least take some pride that even though she's in a second-rate temple, in a third-rate neighborhood, they at least have a first-rate priestess.

Or one that looks like it anyway.

Sachiko sees the last group to the gates, and is about to close the main door when a man comes up the stairs. He looks like a salaryman, a well-to-do one at that, so he doesn't exactly belong here.

"Excuse me." He says with a proper bow. "Priestess Gankoji Sachiko? I am Basho Koenma." He hands out his card. "I am with the Paranormal Control Oversight Coalition."

"P-COC?" Sachiko asks.

"You've heard of us?" The man asks, surprised.

She nods across the street. The man sees the Lunatics' sign. "Oh. Them." He frowns and turns back to Sachiko with a cautious look. "You...know them?"

"Mr. Koenma, what is it I can help you with?" Sachiko say primly.

"Yes," He clears his throat and takes out a piece of paper. "You are being summoned to our offices. Tomorrow."

"Why?" Sachiko says as she looks at the summons.

"Well, you and a number of other priestesses, exorcists, mystics, and other people who make their living regarding the occult." Koenma says. "We're putting together a registry, noting where people live, their abilities, and their expertise. It allows us to be efficient in answering occult incidents that are reported to our offices."

"Is this going to cost my temple anything?" Sachiko asks.

"Oh no. Quite the contrary, you'll be compensated for your time, and you'll be put into the P-COC network, which means you will be able to receive compensation for aiding us in helping with incidents. If you're called upon." He smiles.

"Is this mandatory?" Sachiko asks.

Koenma's smile gets a little fixed. "I would heavily recommend it. The State Shinto and the Jinja-Honcho have both signed off on this." He points at a line on the summons. He's right. "The Diet supports this, and our organization even has the blessing of the Emperor."

"Huh. So, is this the only reason you're here?" Sachiko asks. She remembered that these were the same people who categorized Kali and the Old Man as Animals.

"Yes." Koenma says, a little confused. "We're doing this in waves, and this group includes you. We at P-COC believe in Community, so we always personally invite people to our offices when they join our registry."

"Do...they...have to come too?" Sachiko asks, nodding across the street.

"No. They are not welcome...and the Ghostbuster organization has already been put upon P-COC's registry." Koenma says. "Please don't involve them." He says with a sigh. "Anyway, can we look forward to seeing you tomorrow?"

"Akira was doing caramelldansen." Sana says. "It's been a weird day."

"I'm amazed you still have a scale to judge weird on." Sachiko says. "When they get back, have them call me."

"Got it." Sana says.

"Hey!" Kali says cheerfully as Sachiko comes back inside her house. "So, I've got three designs for you."

She shows three outfits on the bed.

"Where'd you get these?" Sachiko asked the vampire.

Kali is dressed in a black cheongsam dress with red chrysanthemums sewn into it. Her make up accentuates her eyes and makes her look paler than usual. She looks like an evil Chinese vampire queen from a hammer horror film.

It's impressive.

"I know some people in harajuku." She says. "I had them send these over while you were working." She claps her hands. "Anyway, we have three options. Magical girl, faux Chinese, and American Movie."

The magical girl is a little ridiculous. It's got hair decals, white stockings, white boots, and white gloves. The dress itself looks like a french maid outfit, corset and poofy skirt, that's been dyed in yellows and pinks. It's more Akihabara than Harajuku. It does however, come with a mask.

the 'Faux Chinese' is a dress that's identical to Kali's. Only instead of being black, this one is blue, and it has a Fu Dog embroidered along the lower side in gold. There's slipper shoes, a little hair ornament, and it looks tasteful. If a bit boring.

The American Movie is a leather jacket, a deep burgundy tube top, slick shiny pants that're made out of a material you are certain isn't found in nature, and a collection of sunglasses, fake jewelry, a plastic gun, and an assortment of other bits and pieces that will apparently be hanging all over you.

Keep in mind, Sachiko will have to walk around in public wearing this stuff.

Because there's PARANORMAL SHITS AND CORRUPT ASSHOLES making the P-COC, Walter Peck's P-COC, look like a joke at a national level.

Not just getting egg on Peck's face in front of the Ghostbusters, but in front of the government of Japan itself.

Once he finds out, he will fucking flip his shit.

Indeed. But conversely, like a lot of PCOC we know (Yasuo for one) or perhaps the whole thing entirely, he is very easily fooled.

But yes, if and when he does found out he's been used as a Ghost puppet for the SECOND TIME unless he has even more interesting stories we don't know about he will flip shit.

Along with the address, on Koenma's card, there's a hand written note of a time. Apparently they'll be doing the registry all day, since Sachiko's part of a large group. So she has to show up some time between 9 and Noon.

Now it's a wonder of the effects of if we don't make an effort to show. Twenty minutes later Sachiko is sitting on a train next to Kali. She's trying not to move too much because when she does her pants make an unusual noise.

Not that people notice that noise under all the noises that the rest of her outfit makes. Crosses, pendants, medallions, talismans, and other jewelry hang from her neck in a glittery, jangly mass. She's wearing fingerless biker gloves, and the replica cap pistol is carefully stuffed into a pocket on the inside of this annoyingly long leather jacket. She keeps almost tripping on the hem. Not that the chunky, clunky, platform boots that she's wearing are making walking any easier. And to top it all off, she's wearing sunglasses.

"How do Americans wear these things?" Sachiko asks as she adjusts her tube top for the umpteenth time. "It keeps slipping."

"Yeah, well, they're made for fat American women with cellulite and boobs. Not trim, flat, asian girls." Kali says.

"I'm not THAT flat!" Sachiko snaps.

"By Japanese standards, no. By the rest of the world...eh." Kali says.

"Keep it up and I'm going home."The priestess fumes.

"Okay okay, take it easy." Kali sighs. "Oh, changing the subject to home. When the Sanctuary is completed, you want me and the Old Man to move out?"

Sachiko shrugs. "We'll see. How long before those rabbit girls are finished with repairs and renovation?"

"End of the month, maybe earlier." Kali says. "We're already getting requests from people who want to move in."

"Anything I can do to help?" Sachiko asks.

"Do you know anyone who speaks Russian? We're going to be having a LOT of Russian refugees." Kali says.

"Russian? Really?" Sachiko asks.

"Oh yeah, Russia kind of sucks if you're a creature from the shadows. China too, it's why I'm in no hurry to go back." Kali says. "In China it's 'Serve the party, or you die.' You hear horror stories about what they do to people. Bomb collars, geas spells, blood pacts. The works."

"Any of that true?"

"Nah. I think they just hunt you down and shoot you." Kali says. "The only things that can withstand a 50 caliber bullet to the head are usually the things our neighbors deal with."

"But it's worse in Russia." Sachiko asks.

"Yeah. There there's no 'Serve the State' part. There's just a generic kill order. They make Akira look like...like Daisuke."

Sachiko lets out a low whistle. "Why is that?"

"Well, you hear a lot of stories. The one I believe is that Putin had to clean up an 'incident' in his KGB days, and that kind of put him off to the ways of the occult. Baba Yaga herself's supposed to be in hiding." Kali shrugs. "But that's a rumor. Either way, they'd rather live in Japan than Russia."

"Huh, are we going to be getting any Chinese refugees then? Since China doesn't sound so nice?" Sachiko asks.

"No." Kali says. "They'd rather go to America, or Europe. You know how I was in Italy during World War Two?"

"Yeah?"

"They weren't." Kali says. "There's a few grudges."

"Ah..." Sachiko fumbled for anything to say to that.

"It's okay." Kali sighed. "I'll make you feel guilty about being Japanese another day. Tonight we've got work, this is our stop."

The girls get off the train and walk down a few streets and stop in front of a decent sized house.

"Okay," Kali says as she gingerly opens the door. "I'll go in, and do my bit. You'll get a text from me, then you charge in, run up the stairs, throw open the door, we'll do a little bit of a show, and then I'll jump out the window. Then you come back out to chase after me, then we go home that much richer."

"Do we have to worry about parents or anything?" Sachiko asks.

"Nah. They're gone on business. Anyway, are you going to be staking me, shooting me, or using your mystical powers on me?"

Sachiko takes out her cap gun.

Kali nods and 'stalks' into the room and up the stairs in a fashion that would make Count Orlock himself proud.

After a few moments Sachiko's phone vibrates and she runs up the stairs, gun drawn, and kicks in the door to the one room that's lit.

"Gotcha Shadow Spawn! Looks like the bat's out of the bag!" She shouted.

Kali, with blood on her face, eyes shining red in the low light, and her fangs fully extended, hisses at Sachiko.

She couldn't help it. She had to say it.

"You don't belong in this world, monster! Die!" Sachiko says as she opens fire.

Kali does an excellent acting job of flinching as the 'bullets' smash into her.

"You and this city will BURN! Do you hear me hunter? BURN!" She howls and then jumps out of the window.

Sachiko runs to the window, and sees Kali standing on the ground, giving the OK sign.

Sachiko turns to the bed. "Are you okay? She didn't turn you...did she?" She asks.

The boy is...well he looks average. Just a typical 20 year old. There's a poster for a german metal band on the wall, and his bedding is black, but he looks no different than any of the other boys on the train. His desk looks like he's been in the middle of applying for company jobs.

He's staring up at Sachiko in a combination of awe, lust, and fear.

"No...I mean...I don't know." He says. "I mean...I..." He breaks eye contact and looks away.

There's a long pause as Sachiko stand there, unsure of what to do.

"I'm sorry." The boy finally says. He puts a towel to his bleeding neck. "You...you can go." He sounds ashamed.

Sachiko sees it propped up on the desk. Specifically she sees the little red light. It's a little video camera. The kid was taping himself getting bitten and then Sachiko's heroic rescue. It's not hooked up to a computer.

The kid is sitting on the other side of the bad, not looking at Sachiko, giving off a sense of both humiliation and regret.

> Just leave. The job's done. Okay, so he got a little thrill and wanted to preserve the moment. Not a problem, and it's not Sachiko's problem that he feels disgusted with himself about how he had to pay for this. Job's done. Just leave. (1d6)

"Also, the Society will have be exiled from our ranks, and then Japan would surely fall! Please, delete that video. You must, for the sake of Japan's very soul...our work MUST remain a secret."

The kid fiddles with the camera, and Sachiko checks it. Yep, the tape's been deleted. Good.

"Thank you. You were very lucky this evening." She sighs. "I don't know why the Shadow Sanctum is af-"

"Sanctuary."

"Shadow Sanctuary, thank you. I don't know why they're after you...but I'll find out." Sachiko says. "Take care, young one. Know that the Society is there, to Brighten the Darkness."

She takes off down the stairs and out the door.

"Hey." Kali says, waiting at the fence of the house, using a towel to wipe her face down. "What took so long?"

"Kid was trying to tape us." Sachiko says. Kali's eyes instantly widen. "It's okay, I took care of it. Let's go home. I want out of these boots."

"You can keep them if you want." Kali says. "They never looked good on me. They kind of fit you...when you're dressed up like this."

"I am never dressing up like this again." Sachiko says as the pair head to the train station.

"I dunno, you'd look impressive, ordering people around like you do. The extra inches give you...gravitas." Kali says. "It's good for a community leader."

"I'm not a community leader." Sachiko says as the pair wait for the train. "I'm just good at figuring out what needs to be done. When I tell people what to do, I come off as an uptight bitch."

"Heh. Well, those who should rule and those who should lead aren't always the same person." Kali says. "There's an old Chinese saying..."

"What does that mean?" Sachiko asks.

"It means that no one person can rule a land, or should. Unless they're Emperor." Kali shrugs. "If you're the Emperor, the land is supposed to obey you. Anyway, between all of us nut jobs and lunatics, I think we can get the neighborhood to at least stop being called 'Reject Zone.' It won't be a great dynasty or anything, but twenty, thirty years of peace and prosperity isn't anything to sneer at. Hell, this day and age, be glad for ONE."

"Huh." Sachiko admires herself in a glass reflection at the station. "Gravitas, huh?"

The train comes, and the girls go back to their home. Kali heads straight for the temple. She's had enough fun, and some nights you just want to spend in your coffin/drawer.

Sachiko knocks on the door to the dumpling factory and then, when she finds it unlock, opens it.

"Oh, hey!" Star is the only one there. She's not dressed in her usual ghostbuster jumpsuit. She's got on a nice dress, earrings, a little make up, and her hair's been done. (In the height of 80's fashion style.) "The others are at Reika's recovering."

"Again?" Sachiko asks. "What's it this time?"

"Concussions and possible hypothermia. Except for Sato, he needs...look let's just say that there's a COLD rubber glove in his future, and leave it at that."

"So where are you going?" Sachiko asks.

"Out. You know, do a little shopping, maybe see a movie. Nothing major. I need some time that's not imminent danger, or out and out crazy. This city doesn't ever shut down, so why not take some fun time for myself." She winks. "Wanna come? You look SO totally dressed for it."

Sachiko bites her lip. This...might not be the best thing for Star. She's been good, she's been exemplary actually, ever since she started being a Ghostbuster. However, you remember Star before, when she hung around with her uncle, and this is the kind of behavior that ended up with her...having to be sent out to the farm in the first place. Maybe it would be best if she had a chaperone, or didn't go out at all.

Then again. It is her life, and it's not your place to comment on...past choices.

"Great. Now, you have to tell me where you go those boots! You look stunning in them." Star says.

The girls decide to just take a quick trip to the closest theater and back.

"So he made sure you said yes three times?" Star says.

"Yeah, is that something?" Sachiko asks.

"Well...no. I mean, not for a human. We can make and break promises all the time. That's the biggest advantage to being a human, we don't have to follow all those weird esoteric rules that Kali, Rini, and the others do." Star says with a shrug. "Normally, if you promise to do something three times, then that's it. You're doing it. No question. But humans can still say no. Maybe...maybe it's a legal thing?"

"A legal thing?"

"Yeah, they ask you three times and if you don't show up they say you, like, totally knew and just blew them off." Star says. "Or maybe Lady Une and Yasuo are letting the job get to them and they're going around treating everyone like this."

"So, they're either binding me to a contract that I don't have to follow, they're being weirdly specific to ensure legal infallibility, or...they're going crazy." Sachiko says. "That's...Occam's razor doesn't cut as deep into our lives as it used to, does it?"

"You have no idea." Star says. "Anyway, presuming the others are feeling well enough, you want us to show up at the place with you when you go. Although, I warn you, seeing a whole mob of priestess and Mikos? Sato WILL be trying to hit on at least one."

"Thought he and Sana were going out."

"They did, they didn't click. Everyone moved on." Star says. "So...you want us there?"

> Yes. Please.
> Come...but don't come 'with' me. Just find an excuse to be there at the same time I am.
> No. I...I don't think having the Ghostbusters, P-COC, and a large number of Priestess and Miko all in one place at the same time is a good idea. At all.
>>
>>33812882
>Come...but don't come 'with' me. Just find an excuse to be there at the same time I am.
"Maybe say you're paying a fine, or you're registering an upcoming job, or something else legit that they can't turn you away for."
>>
>>33812882
On the one hand, the hilarity of the Ghostbusters crashing the party...
On the other, something that Sachiko would actually say......
"I think you should be there, but be there before I am. They know I know you and coming when I do is even more suspicious than usual. And if they're doing some insane binding thing, then you have the best chance of saving people."
>>
>>33812882
> That's the biggest advantage to being a human, we don't have to follow all those weird esoteric rules that Kali, Rini, and the others do
She forgets that Sachiko is also a holyman (woman), and while maybe she can still break it being human it might affect her inherent divine favor which are based on Esotericism and religion.

Or not, because I wonder if there are some really morally shitty priests out there who still know how to banish a spirit or two.

On the bright side at least it wasn't like, a devil making us sign a written contract in our own blood!
>>
>>33812918
>>33812926
Unless I am mistaken these are compatible in their goals and I would support them if they are

Option three seems like one big collective smiting on the horizon.

What awaits, though? Imprisonment? Death? Another dimension? Flip Side Revisited?
>>
>>33812926
I like this, but is it really okay to shove them in front of us to spring a trap?

I'm very uneasy about all of this.
>>
>>33813157
>but is it really okay to shove them in front of us to spring a trap?
Yes.

That is as close to a description of their job as you're gonna get.
>>
>>33813157
I do admit however, that it may be entirely our fault for leading them into a trap the PCOC or someone controlling them have been maneuvering us to get them to go there.

"I think you should be there, but be there before I am. They know I know you and coming when I do is even more suspicious than usual. And if they're doing some insane binding thing, then you have the best chance of saving people." Sachiko says.

"You really think P-COC is that...competent?" Star asks. "Lady Une's been hamstringed by Peck since she got caught being connected to the Gentlemen's Club that we broke up. She can't really do anything without Peck's approval, and Peck...dickless asshole that he is...isn't a bad guy. This whole registry thing is Yasuo's idea. He's an officious pain in the ass himself, but he's decent enough. They've been doing this for a few days too. There was a crowd of mikos out in front of P-COC this morning. It was on the news...right after us getting wailed on."

"Must have missed that story." Sachiko says.

"Yeah, well, like most P-COC things it was actually kind of boring. Yasuo isn't a bad guy, but if your instincts say that something screwy is happening...no sense we can't show up." Star says.

"Thanks." Sachiko says.

The movie is nice, and Sachiko's presence is probably a good thing, as the theater is within eye-shot of a fun looking club. However, Star only gives it a single glance, before deciding on her own that it's very late, and that everyone has an early morning tomorrow.

A train ride back, and Sachiko goes straight to her temple, and straight to bed.

SCORE: 52
GHOST ROLLS: 1

>this whole registry thing is Yasuo's idea
You mean what's-her-butt's idea.
This is bad, real bad.
>>
>>33813257
Yup. This is going pretty close to the story
>>
>>33813232
We rolled ten out of a possible fourteen dice and got 52 out of 80.

We fucked up. We tried to do things safe and we fucked up exactly the way the QM warned us not to fuck up.

And now we probably killed Sachiko.
>>
>>33813232
It's a hazy dream. Sachiko can't make out anything clearly. There's smoke, a lot of smoke...no...fire. There's fire. Its everywhere. Everywhere there's fire, and people are screaming. There's smoke and there's fire.

A tremble in the ground, and a crash. There's something in the smoke now. Something above the fire. It towers over everyone and there's a rush of air, and now there's more screaming as you hear the crashing. Its ripping the entire building apart, the city is being ripped apart and its still on fire.

The fire and the...the huge thing...are competing with each other!

People are running now, trying to get away from the fire or the thing. They're calling for help...and someone is answering them...

But it's wrong. It's someone else answering, and she's hurting them, killing them. She's in the wires, in the waves. She's in the calls. Every call for help, every person seeking another person, she's there and she's spreading her black poison and its killing people. She's laughing and laughing and laughing. There are Four. They got three but they had the Fourth one ready the whole damn time and now no one can call for help!

Sachiko can't move. She can't fight back. She can't stop the Fire. She can't stop the thing. She can't free the calls. Red string binds her, red string wraps around her arms, her legs, her mouth. She is pulled and plucked. Dictated and ordered. She dances like a marionette...and she sees the others...all the others. Anyone who could help...helpless...red stringed puppets and the string oozes up from the ground itself. They MUST obey.

And then...then there is the Red Light. SHE has arrived. SHE bushes aside HER hair, and lowers HER fan, and shows HER face...

The phone alarm wakes up Sachiko. Her neck is very sore. She must have slept on it wrong. Also, apparently she has tears in her eyes as well. Must have been a very bad dream.

Eh, whatever it was, she can't remember any of it now.

>>
>>33813379
The phone rings as Sachiko gets out of the shower.

"Yes?"

"Sachiko? It's Daisuke. We're at P-COC."

"Already? I wasn't planning on being there for another hour or so...well I suppose that's a good thing considering." Sachiko says.

"Yeah...ummm...I don't think you need to be worried about us causing a scene." Daisuke says.

"Why?"

"Because PAGAN is already here...and it looks like their leader is intent on causing a riot." Daisuke says.

"She's incredible!" Sato says. "Does anyone see a ring on her fingers?"

"SHE'S BURNING US IN EFFIGY!" Akira yells.

"Sachiko. You might want to hurry up and come down here quick...because if you don't, I don't think there might BE a P-COC to register AT!"

Even though you clearly explained the premise, either we just quickly forgot about it once we got into the quest proper, were trying to get into Sachiko's head and not concerning themselves with the dice, or were most likely just terrified of failure, we clearly did not perform as well as we could have.

NEXT EPISODE

THURSDAY, AUGUST 7TH, 3-5PM PST

>>33813575
I'm a little amazed at how effective the Ghost Roll has been as a force of fear. I wonder if it's the fact that it's a 4 and not a 1.
>>
>>33813672
The greater the risk, the greater the reward. See you then.
>>
>>33813672
It wasn't just the ghost roll, otherwise we would have rolled 1d6 the whole time, and still probably won.

It was just that we couldn't stand to do the bare minimum for some reason. Aside from one time which was debatably appropriate.
>>
>>33813693
We should have either committed to all 3d6 or all 1d6. Instead we did mostly 2d6, and only did one 1d6 and one 3d6 which cancelled out.

It's really depressing, and hopefully it just means we spun our wheels and accomplished nothing, as opposed to effectively damning ourselves later on.
>>
>>33813693
Except concerning our sister it seems. . .
>>
>>33813724
Nobody wants to deliberate. Everyone just wants to go.
>>33813725
If we survive that one week, things will fall into place. All is not lost.
>>
>>33813758
The game is too fast to really deliberate over, especially when dice are involved.

It's just that the ones who were bold enough to roll, were also the ones who didn't really pay attention to the opening post.
>>
>>33813379
So there's three big problems. The fire, the big thing, and the Fourth Aspect Of Oiwa, this one somehow controlling the red string of fate, and abusing the power of human bonds to make all the exorcists and ghostbusters powerless.

We're fucked.
>>
>>33813862
In theory, all the exorcists are being taken to P-COC so the fourth aspect can bind them and render them useless.
>>
>>33813758
>>33813825
Can be said that the thread about our sister had more deliberation in it than all the other GBJ threads combined.

>>33813862
Buck up anon, you know what I see?

More breakfast

As the ancients say "The bigger they are, don't forget to chew". Or something like that.
>>
>>33813862
Five actually.

The Fire
The Large Thing
The Many Missed Calls (Another little hint as to whom the Fourth Aspect is)
The Red String is separate from the Fourth Aspect.

And Oiwa herself at the finale. Of course.
>>
>>33813917
All the magical ones at least.

I wonder if we're the only scientific paranormal experts in here. New York had all sorts of scientists beyond the ghostbusters working doing wonders such as the scientist who worked for Billionaire Tummel who opened up a portal to the underworld, invented the Ecto-shield and a wheelchair with 4 remote control proton streams, or Professor Dweeb who was obsessed with capturing slimer he invented his own brand of ghostbusting technology
>>
>>33813942
And we don't know about any of that.

And it's all our faults.

So did we just mediocre our way out of getting the best ending?
>>
>>33813977
>So did we just mediocre our way out of getting the best ending?

No, you just made it that much more difficult to get it. I already gave you the hint you'll need to figure out the trick Tamamo-no-Mae is using. You figure that one out, and you'll be able to get the best ending.

As far as the in-game actions are concerned, having the Ghost Busters show up at the PAGAN Anti-PCOC rally was one of the better moves you could have made.

But Tamamo-no-Mae is not stupid, or like the rest of the yokai you're facing. She's already got her trump cards all ready to play. At this point, she's just making SURE that everyone else has a weaker hand.

>>33813964
They're also being located and put on the P-COC registry. It's non-denominational. The Ghostbusters are immune to the registry...because Peck has forbade them to be on it. He will not see the Ghostbusters get paid a single penny from P-COC's budget.
>>
>>33813942
>The Many Missed Calls (Another little hint as to whom the Fourth Aspect is)
God damn it, has it been Yurei the whole time somehow?

I'm pretty sure that's impossible.
>>
>>33814041
>I already gave you the hint you'll need to figure out the trick Tamamo-no-Mae is using.
Yeah, you seem to have specified >>33813942
with
>The Many Missed Calls (Another little hint as to whom the Fourth Aspect is)

Unless those are two distinct hints. But I'll be damned if I can figure out what that means. Like I can't think of any more Oiwa analogues in Japanese media, which makes me think it's something else.

I guess I should re-read the quest?
>>
>>33814049
I'm not that cliché.
Here's another hint.
All four aspects were all remade in America.
>>
>>33814073
Oh, that's not the hint I was talking about. The hint was in the episode.

This is just me telling you whom the last aspect of Oiwa was. It doesn't matter if you know that or not.
>>
>>33814075
So we're talking about
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kairo_%28film%29 ?

Because if we are, I'm not really seeing anything beyond "you lose"
>>
>>33814112
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BrKkGeY0jXs
>>
>>33814115
Oh good. That's a bit easier to deal with, maybe.

So the hint as to Tamamo-no-mae's plan... I'm thinking there's an analogy to be drawn between red string=red tape=P-COC.

Somehow, entering the registry is meant to make sure none of the exorcists are able to intervene.
>>
>>33814154
There also seems to be a parallel between

>"It means that no one person can rule a land, or should. Unless they're Emperor." Kali shrugs. "If you're the Emperor, the land is supposed to obey you. Anyway, between all of us nut jobs and lunatics, I think we can get the neighborhood to at least stop being called 'Reject Zone.' It won't be a great dynasty or anything, but twenty, thirty years of peace and prosperity isn't anything to sneer at. Hell, this day and age, be glad for ONE."

and

>
Sachiko can't move. She can't fight back. She can't stop the Fire. She can't stop the thing. She can't free the calls. Red string binds her, red string wraps around her arms, her legs, her mouth. She is pulled and plucked. Dictated and ordered. She dances like a marionette...and she sees the others...all the others. Anyone who could help...helpless...red stringed puppets and the string oozes up from the ground itself. They MUST obey.

Somehow, by getting the kami out of the way, controlling P-COC, and getting all the exorcists to register with P-COC, Tamamo-no-mae wants to become "the Emperor" of the spiritual realm, making all the exorcists her subjects.

I think?
>>
>>33814169
Also

Somehow, Tamamo-no-mae has or desires the power to make humans word equal law?

Damnit, I feel like you've given out all the pieces, but I'm too dumb to put them together.
>>
>>33814192
Unfortunately, the only way I can see to foil that plan is to damage or force P-COC to break the contracts they've made and prevent them from making any new ones, which would be doable except we still have no real reason to suspect them of anything.
>>
>>33814192
Like for some reason I feel as if

>That's why Sachiko always tried to get in one dance early. That way she could do one dance for Herself. One dance that isn't ritual or dictated by others.

One of the things that Tamamo-no-mae will use to bind people is under the weight of what's expected of them, and their various obligations maybe?
>>
>>33814192
>Damnit, I feel like you've given out all the pieces, but I'm too dumb to put them together.

Don't feel dumb. You don't have all the pieces yet. But I'm impressed on what you've gotten so far...amused to no end at the theories you have...but impressed.
>>
>>33814253
I guess I just blame myself for not taking a more active roll in the thread proper, or at least reminding people what the purpose of the thread was, so I'm hoping to salvage something from the thread.

>The Ghostbusters are immune to the registry...because Peck has forbade them to be on it. He will not see the Ghostbusters get paid a single penny from P-COC's budget.

...Now this... It might be the sleep deprivation talking, but it seems like we should be able to exploit this somehow.

...I really wish people stuck around more.
>>
>>33814311
Like
>But Tamamo-no-Mae is not stupid, or like the rest of the yokai you're facing. She's already got her trump cards all ready to play. At this point, she's just making SURE that everyone else has a weaker hand.

Is really terrifying to me, especially because, in-character, we have no idea she's even playing.

So now I'm pretty sure we're stuck in that awful situation where we need to help the bad guy with her master plan to avoid metagaming.
>>
>>33814413
Ghost Master, in case I sound ungrateful, just want to make it clear that I'm not blaming you for this.

If anything, I'd like to thank you for making something I care enough for to worry about, if that makes sense.
>>
Come on. How is it that we can defeat Mimiko?
>>
>>33814073
>Missed Call
>Red String
>Remade in America

If anyone around is still here to read this or bothers to read the archives, the "Missing Calls" inclines me to believe perhaps the answer might lie in Red String being replaced by Red Candy.
>>
>>33815563
>>33814115
>Oh Ghostmaster already said that
Well then. . .
>>
>>33814169
Which means that we have to go save the REAL Emperor, possibly. If I remember, Shinto is the worship of THE Emperor, meaning that whatever the official policy is these days, the Emperor is the one, the only, God On Earth.
It doesn't matter if he's just a man, he's also the Emperor and if we could get him to say a few words like "I release all of my priests from their bonds" or something we could work through this.
>>
>>33815905
Well, that's actually become kinda complicated after WW2 and the radical changes State Shinto underwent both before and after the war.

It is just as possible, in fact highly likely, his lineage is indeed descended of the gods thus making him divine in nature, and even if it isn't Japanese belief makes it so.

On another note, it should be remembered that Tamamo-no-mae is organizing this directly, and we should take into account the original tale.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tamamo-no-Mae

76th Emperor Konoe was enthralled by Tamamo-no-mae until an astrologer managed to divine that his beloved courtesan was actually a youkai. He then sent the two most powerful Kazusa-no-suke and Miura-no-suke to hunt down Tamamo-no-mae, killing her with a magic arrow.

My guess is that Tamamo-no-mae would rather not have a repeat of this, so she has managed to once again persuade the Emperor and, and through the PCOC, will categorize and gather any exorcsists from across who could shoot magic arrows or harm her in anyway to eliminate them or prevent them from being able to harm her. This leaves us, the Ghostbusters, the only loose end.

That's just my theory.

If it were true, would that we were more successful this day and Saichiko could've been the deliverer of that fated arrow. Hopefully, nuclear energy should suffice.
>>
>>33816163
Well, with the control, Sachiko is going to be shooting to kill at us.
And there's also the fact that Tamano-no-Mae knows quite a lot about us. I don't think we qualify as 'loose end'.
The other teams somehow showing up in the nick of time is a loose end, but we've been detected, inspected, and rejected. Maybe some of that old Ghostbuster's Murphyonic Field will come into play.

And think about what we COULD do if we managed to get the Emperor free of whatever bonds. If he's divine in nature, that's an immediate leg up to the usual puny hue-man. But in the end, he's a man. He's just a man, and she's had so many men before in oh so many ways. He's just one more.
>>
>>33816264
>And there's also the fact that Tamano-no-Mae knows quite a lot about us. I don't think we qualify as 'loose end'.
True enough, I was simply taking into account we're not being lopped into this whole PCOC shenangigan.

And indeed, the Emperor, divine in nature or not (and he likely is [Emperor Showa rejected the idea of Akitsumikami, but not Arahitogami]) he is still a man in heart and mind and of course fallible.

She tricked the Emperor and his court back then, she'll trick him and his court this time, just like so many others.
>>
>>33816264
Oh, and if we got the Emperor free of her manipulation somehow, we should hope that he gives us his big holy thumbs up and personal blessing to hunt Tamamo-No-Mae, or at least perhaps Saichiko, because that would help a lot (and would stay in line with the story somewhat)

I also don't think what Tamamo-no-mae has planned will go so far as to force all the other exorcists to hunt us against their own will, more like neuter their powers in some fashion (or maybe just kill them) or force their hand. I'm not saying it is impossible, but it seems it's a lot more complicated than mere mind control.
>>
>>33816359
>>33816333
'Dancing like a marionette' seems pretty clear to me that they'll have no choice in the matter. I think that we're going to have to be either very lucky or very smart to beat her and get the golden ending.

I also wonder about the Emperor's protection. He may be just a man, but he's divine in nature. Every mythology agrees that the divine attracts things, so I think the Emperor should have some sort of spiritual bodyguard whether he knows it or not.
If true, this worries me, whoever protects the Emperor isn't going to be some podunk spirit. Unless they went the same way they did with Sachiko and trapped him in a way that the guard cannot intervene. Maybe we could hire the Oni to ensure the Emperor's physical safety from harm/manipulation to cover what the spirit cannot?
>>
>>33816264
I also think the other teams are probably busy with their own things, possibly some just as vital or close as vital to the world as ours is currently.

There's all sorts of events going on around the world. Whether we win or lose here, this is not the first time schemes have been set to start the apocalypse nor do I expect it will be the last. For there are other gods and beings out there beyond the Kami and Japan or Sumer.

We just happen to be in the unfortunate position when planets have literally aligned, to put Japan center stage, and some very powerful players are involved here.

I wonder if the worst case scenario is truly global, or if it simply means that, as the Jurisdiction of the Kami may be tied to Japan, Japan herself will go the way of Atlantis and sink into darkness once more, leaving the rest of the world to gaze in terror as an entire civilization vanishes into the abyss.
>>
>>33816514
That's cool, the Ghostbusters are used to working as isolated teams. An army of us would be just unfair.
>>
>>33816434
If you sign with a large government group, it's important to read what you sign. All that paper...it has the same sort of compulsion on humans as their word does on spirits and Youkai.
>>
>>33816769
..... Shit. And she promised she'd be there, possibly at the cost of her powers if she welshed.
And even with the us there to detect hanky panky, this is bad. Real bad.

Also, I had an idea of how Tamamo-no-Mae is going to make herself Emperor. The guy who showed up said that the summons came with the order of the Emperor's office, which is the Voice of the Emperor as far as we are concerned. She is going to get the paperwork to say something along the lines of (or have the Emperor authorize) P-COC to do 'as they see fit'. And since P-COC is Tamamo-No-Mae and Oiwa right now.....
All perfectly legal. And very, very bad.
>>
>>33816718
As events escalate, an army of us may be what's needed in the times to come. Maybe not now, or not for decades. but as the world slowly wakes up to an ever growing reality that the immaterial is actually material, and the world behind the scenes continues to boil, our numbers will need to match escalation.

Also and army of us would be a force of absolute chaos and collateral damage and woe befall whatever city encounters that.

>>33816769
Minds a powerful thing. If you believe you can't do something, you can't. Be it reading a book on law, your mother and father and pastor telling you murder is wrong, or your teacher telling you what you should consider as factual, you impress upon yourself that they are true and they become true. Civilization is built on the collective psyche of common beliefs we hold true, such as the word of law.

We are all of us bound to our beliefs, though conversely we still have power over what our beliefs are. If only just a little.
>>
>>33816858
I don't know about "becoming" emperor but yes, that is a way she'll get his blessing and thus control over the land.
>>
>>33816858
It gets better. You see, she can deflect blame by hiding behind the bureaucracy. Want to do something? Gotta ask the P-COC first for clearance.
>>
>>33816864
If they don't hurt us, we don't hurt them. If anything, we may need to protect the supernatural from the normals.
>>33816891
Near as makes no difference unless or until the Emperor rescinds his blessing. There's a reason that the secretary became the most important man in the Communist Party.
>>
>>33816858
>And she promised she'd be there, possibly at the cost of her powers if she welshed.
Yup. She goes against her word as a priestess or against the will of the Emperor and the faith and the powers that be hold her against it.

Pity it's not like Luther and the others who went against their faiths authority for what they saw as right. The protestants have been doing pretty well even if they are still technically excommunicated and damned by the original church authority (whom thesmelves are technically descended of deviation of the Judaistic faith itself).

But that's hundreds of years of religious development, not a single priestess going against the literal will of the Emperor (even if it is his will without consent or knowledge) and thereby the will of heaven itself.
>>
>>33816968
That's never stopped the ghostbusters though
>>
>>33816968

It's kind of an important difference though. It represents people stepping out of the comfortable 'maybe' zone. GBs being the only force for change will change, because everything does.

Btw, I do feel like we got the best or near-best vision anyways.

All this talk about the Emperor makes me realize more I think about the ghostbuster universe, the more I realize how interesting it must be.

Just take world war 2 for example. Kali says the Chinese paranormals still have qualms against the Japanese.

And why wouldn't they? Japan didn't only try to push their empire in men and land, but also in ideology and faith. Claiming themselves to be descendants of gods or divinely ordain by their will as a race destined to rule. Who knows if this surge of patriotism and fanatical faith had such an effect on the Japanese gestalt that the Kami or youkai or other Japanese spirits got on the bandwagon and waged war against the Chinese mythos.

Take the Nazi's and the legends of occult and mysticism surrounding them, as well as their usage of the state to manipulate religion and vice versa. Everything from neopaganism to positive christianity all backed by unwavering faith in the Fuhrer. Who can say what powers and beings they unleashed in their war.

Britain still had their king, and in their darkest hour, perhaps an ancient sword rose from a lady in a lake in their hour of need. The American's had their faith in the God they Trust, as well as a plethora of American mythos to stick their hands in.

Even Stalin, and communism's distinct atheistic values, was purported to show interest in psychics, such as Wolf Messinger.

While it's cool that you guys are taking this seriously, it's important to note that thus far, Sachiko hasn't promised anything beyond showing up at a certain time.

And there's one thing she can do that can put her beyond P-Coc's (and thus Tamamo-no-Mae's) reach.

Declare herself a Ghostbuster.
>>
So, rereading the dream, here's what I can see.

The fire is linked to a concept of fear. It might be equivalent to large amounts of spirtual activity.

The Large Thing is most likely Mr. Stay-puft 2.0.

Did we not help people or put people on the way-side in this quest, beyond the bunnies? Not really sure what the Many Missed Calls are, although I think Ghostmaster linked a pretty decent hint in that regard.

>>33820501
That...could work.
>>
>>33821078
The Many Missed Calls is tied to the Fourth Aspect of Oiwa, who the Youkai had under their thumb the whole time.

Apparently, it's the bad guy from the somewhat obscure and mediocre "One Missed Call" film.
>>
>>33821126
Gotcha. They were all made in America. Huh.
>>
>>33821974
Rather, America made remakes. We've been up against the Sadakos, not the Samaras.
>>
>>33822154
I'm sorry to say I have no idea what that means.
>>
>>33822175
The Japanese films the antagonists are from were remade in America. Sadako from "Ringu" was renamed Samara in "The Ring".
>>
>>33822235
And as such, developed something of a new following as well. Interesting. Might be something that could be used there.
>>
>>33822579
Doubtful.

So far, it looks like the only thing taken from the American versions is the deal with Kayako's mother making her eat evil spirits.
>>
>>33821078
>>33820501
As nice as that would be to work, it likely won't as that would cause issues with the State Shinto authority and potential repercussions and potential loss of her priesthood.
>>
>>33823493
But by following the American versions, they tie themselves down. More rules to follow, that if they break and are shown to be broken, will weaken them.
>>33823535
And if agreeing to the P-COC deal would essentially remove her ability to do anything for the duration of the crisis, I think the alternative might be worth it. It's up to Sachiko, though. She stands to lose a lot, but if successful, could gain a lot.
>>
>>33823607
Most aren't following the American versions though.

Also, these aren't movies in-universe.
>>
>>33823535
In theory, there should be SOMETHING we can do, since the QM said bringing the Ghostbusters to the PAGAN rally was one of the best moves we could make.

I'm not sure how though, aside from making things as disruptive as possible.
>>
>>33823607
>She stands to lose a lot, but if successful, could gain a lot.
Seems to be the recurring pattern as of late to choose the path with the least amount of loss. . .sadly
>>
>>33826004
Well, if you're talking about Daisuke's sister and the debate about what to do, that was a bunch of filthy gaijin arguing western values versus eastern values.
Personally, I'd love to see her follow her dreams, and so would she, BUT that's not the world she grew up in. Always, in the back of her mind, would be the feeling that she abandoned her family.
As for Sachiko, we don't really know what she's got to lose aside from her position at this point. We haven't heard much about her family, about her friends, about anything that doesn't connect to her relationship with the Ghostbusters. This may allow us to make the go hard or go home choice.

>>33825243
"P-COC is trying to regulate what the Mikos can and can't do! Rise up!"
>>
>>33826004
People should really re-read the effects of Ghost Rolls. They're not quite as bad as people can make them seem. It depends on the severity of the situation, mostly, and many of them are just 'you lose a turn' affairs.
>>
>>33827259
Yeah in this case, I'm pretty sure if we rolled maximum dice every time, we still would have been better off even if we'd gotten a couple more ghost rolls.

If only we paid attention.
>>
>>33826409
Sachiko's position is everything to her. The fact that we hear so little of her family and friends is evidence of that. She has just as much to lose here as Kaede.

We shouldn't show partiality. If we're going to be conservative, we need to stick to it, and if we did it here we would've gotten low rolls and achieved sucess. In the case of NPC's, we may as well "go home"
>>
>>33827937
The minimum would've been preferable to the mediocre we got today. We'd spare ourselves some ghost rolls and we'd be closer to the lower extreme.
>>
>>33828253
Thing is, Ghostmaster specifically didn't say what area we fell under. While I wish we'd rolled more dice and cut loose (dancing was a clear area where it would be in-character, the seal tag...wasn't that big), it's happened and we got an alright response from it. We also got information that might be hard to use, but will certainly be hinted at.

We also hopefully will have more of a chance to interact with Sachiko and Daisuke's sister because of the events that happened here.
>>
>>33828525
Yes, but the point is next time whether we choose to cut loose or hold back (and both have their advantages) we need to pick a stance and stick to it.

I still believe a very low score would hold rewards just as enlightening as a very high score and may have advantages of it's own. It's also the safer route.
>>
>>33828694
Yeah, but from the beginning where we were rolling two dice and getting top-range for it (mid-range three-dice), thus we should have adapted (something we've all agreed upon, I think?).

It is what it is, I should have posted something at the beginning summarizing that but I didn't.

And in the end, safety isn't always found where there is the least danger.
>>
>>33828913
>Yeah, but from the beginning where we were rolling two dice and getting top-range for it (mid-range three-dice), thus we should have adapted (something we've all agreed upon, I think?).
Truth, but then, it's also entirely possible we if start rolling with 3 dices we could be experiencing very low range scores all of a sudden.

We'd need to be able to adapt, and pray the luck is on our sides.
>>
>>33828991
low scores or we start rolling 4's out the ass. Yeah 4's aren't as bad as people might think they are, but the rules are clear "few ghost rolls as possible"
>>
>>33829108
But we were rolling 2d6, which follows neither successful strategy, and rolling 1d6 would have limited the number of ghost-rolls available.

Basically, we were trying to drive on both sides of the road, and in the end we had ONE ghost roll. Compare that to our average run. We could have afforded to go whole hog OR we should have gone for lowest score available.

Yet again, I understand peoples' not wanting to roll Ghost rolls, but based on the first roll, we should have just gone all out from there or just flat-out went single-die and hoped for low.

I'm not saying what you want is bad, I was slightly more interested in the low route, it's just...we weren't going that way. 5s and 6s everywhere should have shown that.
>>
>>33829527
agreed
>>
>>33829527
I think the problem is that the people who were fast enough to vote and roll... Also really didn't understand the premise.

Otherwise we have beforehand come to a consensus on whether to go high or low.

As it stands we just straight up half-assed it.
>>
So we're kinda fucked, right?
>>
>>33833467
Pretty much yeah.

We're fucked because even if we could figure out Tamamo-no-Mae's plan, there's no way to act on it because none of the characters know about it.

And right now, we need to do SOMETHING to make sure Sachiko isn't bound in red tape by the compromised P-COC, without overt metagaming.

So yeah. We're kinda fucked, and it's all because we didn't pay attention to the rules.
>>
>>33833530
Forget the rules. Something else has been foreshadowed. Prepare for mind break.

>>33812589
>Sachiko bites her lip. This...might not be the best thing for Star. She's been good, she's been exemplary actually, ever since she started being a Ghostbuster. However, you remember Star before, when she hung around with her uncle, and this is the kind of behavior that ended up with her...having to be sent out to the farm in the first place. Maybe it would be best if she had a chaperone, or didn't go out at all.
>>
>>33833620
Star has friends.

And I don't know, wasn't her Grudge pretty much that people only saw the partying and didn't see her as a person?
>>
>>33833914
You know, I actually kinda liked our grudge counterparts. Can't believe how easy ours went down.

Still keeping hope we'll eventually see the Peoplebusters one day and what they are really like.
>>
On that note, I wonder what sort of equipment or modifications the GB are getting with all this new cash and how much actual cash they're getting.

Yomi-2 Gyrocopter anyone?
>>
>>33834183
>Yomi-2 Gyrocopter anyone?

Who'd know how to fly it?
>>
>>33834183
I'm pretty sure all the jobs are just to break even, since we gave the Oni most of our money.
>>
>>33837267
Actually, by giving up the gold coins, we were able to keep all of the money we need for operating expenses (electric bills, rent, maintenance fee's and parts), so any money we make, like the SUPER DELUXE ALL-INCLUSIVE PREMIUM LUXURY PACKAGE that Ikki bought from us, is pure profit.
>>
>>33838106
I'm still not sure whether this is treating the cartoons as in-continuity or not.

Like the various gadgets that switch whether or not something is ethereal, I don't know if we can even obtain them.
>>
>>33838106
We did keep the one coin just in case we wanted to use a molecular phase amplifier to enhance its PKE signature to track fury. But we'll rely on the oldman to tell us when she acts up since he needs her

>>33839614
Check the first thread. Everything is canon. We met with Kylie from the Extreme Ghostbusters, and the extreme ghostbusters themselves are a sequel to The Real Ghostbusters
