General Notes.

>Who are you?
You are Kouga, one of the brave soldiers that fight for the love and peace of the world, a Saint. You were raised in the Sanctuary by your Master Integra and under the tutelage of the Witch of Darkness Medea. The Sanctuary considers you a prized soldier because you were born under the blessing of a Dark God, who hopes to use you as his dark messiah to destroy the world of light.

But you won’t have any of that… thus your main mission right now, besides being a Saint, is to find a way to make the darkness you wield yours and find a way to stop the Dark God from possessing you again.

>What are you doing right now?
Before work, there is lunch to be had, sadly Kouga invited his Boss, his Witch of a teacher, his new Doctor, and a nice girl to eat. At least Black Tarantula is also there to be cute…

>How do your powers work?
Generally you have two elemental powers, the first are your electrical powers, which sadly over the years you have neglected. They serve as your primary ranged damage source and they have a low chance of stunning the enemy.

Then you have your Darkness Type Moves, which are used through Evil Right, generally you obtain some dice bonuses and DC bonuses depending on the type of attack used and when Evil Right is equipped you can use Curses and Witchcraft without having to waste a turn to prepare them.

In general Kouga build resulted in you having weaker physical capabilities, and in turn you should use things like Elemental advantages and Curses to even the field.

>What is the elemental wheel?
Certain Elements beat others, the general idea is that if you use a super effective move on an enemy, you deal extra damage and will have an easier time rolling, the end. Some elements beat the weaker, generally it goes,

Wind > Elec > Earth > Water > Fire (> Wind.)
With Darkness > Light (>Darkness)

>Then what is an attack type clash?
Generally speaking attacks can be classified in three types, the first are Strikes, which are precise speedy attacks, and the second are the Guards attacks, which are iron tight defensive maneuvers, with Crashes being the third type which are powerful moves that exist to overwhelm the opponent.

These three attack types have a triangle relationship, in which Crash>Guard>Strike (>Crash). When you use an attack that beats the attack of your opponent, you gain an advantage, which translates in some extra DC bonuses.

>What is the DS thing in the Stat Sheet?
It’s how much influence the source of Evil Right has over you, the higher it is… well you guys know how these things generally go, right?

>Why didn’t you include X option in the choices?
Most of the time I just write what comes first to mind. If you want to do something else, have a different idea or want to use one of the skills not listed, then use the Other Option. It’s there for a reason.

>Have there been any changes to skills?
No, just working on the changes from last time.

In your world there is no room for words, for goods, and not even for the darkness you love, in your world right now, you can only do one thing and only one thing… that is to devour!

Yes Devour, Consume, Take, this is the source of life and the flame that burns in your heart! All you need is to eat and you can continue your eternal fight! That's the only rule of this world, the rule of nature!

You chomp on a mouthful of pasta, and then take a big gulp of water to help things flow better down your throat and just continue to eat! There is food to be had, and you will not rest until you eat everything!

But… sadly, you feel someone shaking you, and you stop for a moment to see your nice friend, her smiling face is frowning and suddenly you think you did something wrong, “Kouga… eat normally, you are scaring everyone!”

You turn around and see that everyone is staring at you, even the Pope, Lord Mars… “Ohh… Sorry.” You scratch your head as you momentarily stop consuming recklessly to think what to say. “My bad…”

Come on, you have to make them talk, to make your guests think that you aren’t just a gluttonous black hole that devours food.

Wise Ups: Grimoire.
Well you probably know more about these things than me, being a witch and all, but if you want me to talk about these things, then sure.

Well the exact definition of a Grimoire varies between the different schools of magic, but the general idea is that a Grimoire is a book that stores magical knowledge and protects it, but at the same time a Grimoire has a duty to seek potential students of the craft and often teaches them.

Yeah sounds confusing, but the general idea is that Grimoires are made to preserve the existence of the mystic arts, and when they remain masterless for too long, these books activate and search for a potential mage, to keep the knowledge of the craft alive.

This is why most organizations prefer to lock these books and keep them hidden, just finding random people and making them mages is very dangerous. People don’t need forbidden knowledge in their lives…

Still that is not why Grimoires are valuable artifacts, these magic books are valuable for the rare spells they often contain, and the fact that they can be used as mystic tools to aid casting.

Magic Formulas are ingrained inside these tomes, so a mage can hasten their casting time just by using these books as a casting aid, but well who is going to take the sum of their research to the battlefield to fight, right? (There are some school of magic that makes disposable tomes to fight, but these Grimoires are less effective, or so I heard).

That actually leads to an interesting detail about these books, as more and more mages use them, the Grimoires absorb traces of magic from their masters, until these tomes grow strong enough to obtain their souls and even contrast their own bodies.

Yes, the oldest and more powerful Grimoires are living beings, and you have to be careful with them. After all, by now you should know how dangerous one of these things are, right?

Well, take care Kouga, the tome you are searching for is said to have belonged to Prometheus, many believe it was the one book by which he taught humanity to use 'fire' and is one of the first Grimoires.

“Sorry about that, but I am glad everyone came to eat lunch with me today, everyone here is a dear friend, and I am glad you all came here, to my humble atelier… it really makes me happy!”

Well, you probably should start by introducing everyone on the table, while everyone knows you, you don’t think most of your guests know each other personally.

“I guess, first I should introduce everyone...”You first gesture to Lord Mars and his wife, “This is Lord Ludwig, the current Pope of the Sanctuary, and his wife, my teacher, Lady Medea. I have to thank you for coming here so suddenly, sir, I know this was a bit sudden from my part.”

You use every trick Master taught you to speak publicly, and even though you sound more polite than you like to be, you feel it is working.

“No, I have to thank you Kouga, we are glad you considered us when you invited the two of us to eat!” Mars smiles at you as he happily takes another bite from his plate, “It’s not everyday I eat something like this, I certainly miss this…” At the end his voice saddens… and you feel the Pope is thinking about something that happened long ago, of something he lost…

So you move things along, as a fellow man you understand that sometimes men need some time to think.

You gesture to your right side, where the Doctor was seating! “Then here are my two new friends who I met in Egypt, Doctor Mariebelle Illumina and her assistant the Silver Saint, Black Tarantula!” You don’t say Versa’s name, to the homunculus it was a title that she gave to those who she considered worthy of it, so you had no reason to give it to others

“I also must say that I am pleased to be here Kouga, I certainly required some nourishment after all the work that I have been doing today.” I am glad you needed to eat Doctor, it makes me glad too!

Then you point to the last guest of your lunch party, your nicest friend, “This is my last guest, she is an old friend that helped me prepare everything today, to be honest without her help I wouldn’t have been able to prepare this lunch for everyone.” Your friend simply smiles at your praise, and that is all the thanks you need for it.

This girl is someone you don’t want to make sad, her smile is something you want to simply protect.

It is simply bright like the sun, and it makes you feel loved...

Lord Mars coughs for a moment, while he stares at your nice friend, “Kouga, you haven’t told us the name of your friend, I believe you forgot it, right?”

Her name…? Did you really forget to say that? Well what was it… you are sure she told you that back when you met her…

Right, you never really cared what her name was, or who she really was. To you she was your nice friend, and her love for you was enough. Sometimes things can be that simple.

“Hey,” You turn to your friend, as you stand up, “how about you introduce yourself to Lord Ludwig, while I go and bring some cake.” It probably is for the best if your friend introduces herself, after all a lady has to maintain her dignity… or so Medea once told you.

Your friend simply nods, as you leave the room, by now everyone has almost finished eating (including Medea and the Doctor, who both eat awfully slow… don’t they know that you have to eat fast to enjoy food?), still you try to stay close to the dining table to hear your guests.

“I am…” You friend stands, as she introduces herself, “no, my name is Aigis, for my love is a shield that shall save….” That name is so dramatic, but you don’t feel like you can contest it, her love is a tool of salvation, a warm light that saves the souls of men…

Wait? That name… that name… that name… it’s... is… is… is… wrong?

The Pope takes a few moments to simply stare at your friend, and then Mars whispers softly to himself, he whispers something you almost refuse to hear, “I… [I] don’t know you, but you feel like her… but, you shouldn’t exist… no… it’s more like you shouldn’t exist right now…” his whispers stop there, as he starts to respond to your friend, “I see, so you are Young Aigis, I am pleased to meet you. I have to say that I like your name… Shield of Love… it’s quite lovely.”

Again, Mar’s voice takes a strange tone when he says the last part, but you don’t think it has anything to do with your friend, more like he is remembering something (no someone, you are sure of that) too painful for him.

“Why, thank you, I am glad you like it…” Your nice friend simply smiles, as she finishes her food. The Table falls silent as no one wants to talk after the short conversation between the Pope and a little girl…

That’s when you come in, with Cake and smiles, “Everyone, I brought the dessert, its cake!” You serve the slices of your delicious sweet to each of your guests (seeing how Versa smiles when you give her the treat is something you will treasure, at least now she doesn’t have to trick you to get cake) and then take a seat.

Your teacher looks like she wants to mock you for your choice of dessert (you know she is the type that hates overly sweet things, but at this point you don’t really care), but she stops herself… and now it fall to you to get your guests to keep talking.

Or maybe you don't, Cake is Love, Cake is Life, Cake is Fate, there is no need for anything but cake... but your guests aren't you, so maybe you should find something you all can talk about.

While you guests enjoy their treat, you feel a question nagging for an answer, “Lord Ludwig… can you tell us how you feel about Love?” From what the god just said, you think that he feels strongly about this, and you feel curious about what the Pope thinks about the topic.

Mars just stays silent, and you feel he is thinking how to answer you but eventually, “Love is… Love is a burden, a sacrifice, a sacrifice you do for the ones you love, Kouga. I means to be strong, even if you are as weak as the others, it means to be brave even when you feel scared, it means to think of others instead of yourself, it means to be wise even when you feel like doing something foolish…”

The Pope stops for a second, and in that moment you meet his eyes… they are bright and you feel he is saying this to you and only you.

“Kouga, love is a struggle… it means to fight even when you feel like fleeing, it means to be an example even if you feel like you might fail, it means being righteous even if you don’t know what to do, it means to kind to others even when you don’t feel like being that…” Even though the Pope has not raised his voice, it carries power, a passion that can’t be matched.

These are the feelings of the God of Fire and War… no the feelings of a man, a foolish man who loves the world.

“Love is to give hope Kouga, to give hope to the ones you love. To me it means to become hope, even if there is only despair in the world. It means to give them a bright future, even if there is no future for them. It means changing this world, even if you have to fight everyone to do it.” The God of War, Mars, stands from his chair, as he continues.

“To me… Love is my burden, my sacrifice, my struggle, and my hope! That is why I will shoulder this world and save it, my love for my family and my soldiers is why I fight Kouga, and I hope one day you can feel a love like that for others.” The Pope pauses in this moment, as he hesitates to add something.

“But sometimes… Love fails Kouga, sometimes you are not strong, brave, considerate, or wise enough… sometimes you just fail…and Love becomes something that hurts you Kouga…” The Pope’s voice barely hides how he truly feel, but you can understand him, the darkness you both share allow you to understand the pain he is feeling.

Right now he is not talking to you… but to a ghost… a ghost of his failure that he won’t allow himself to forget ever. “But right now I can’t allow myself to fail, because of that Love, I refuse to fail… I owe it to…” Mars pauses in this moment, takes a few moments to calm himself, to calm the burning fire that wants to erupt from his heart and cry with fire to the world, “Kouga… love is a duty, a duty that you can never fail, do you understand?”

You aren’t sure if you can say you do… not the way this man (not a god, because no god can speak like this…) speaks of it. Ludwig’s voice was just filled with a raw passion and emotion, that even though it was a soft conversation, you felt the words of the Pope move you.

“Sorry, Kouga, I believe I have already taken too much of your time… and I already finished with this lunch, sadly pressing matters await me, so I will have to leave” The Pope, who is already standing moves to leave, his silent wife already preparing a portal for him to leave.

He is not really finished, but right now nothing good will come from this man staying here. The only thing he will do is poison a young boy with the rage and venom that burns his soul.

You aren’t sure what to say to the Pope, but a part of you feels like asking another question. Also you see that your nice friend wants to speak to him, through the Pope’s speech her face was turning red and you know she is mad, so should you allow her to bother the Pope? Maybe you should calm her down...

About Kouga’s arcana I would say The Fool (for obvious reasons) but his relationship with the Dark God has some shades of The Moon (as Kouga tends to relay more on instincts and other subconscious stuff) and his more direct and outgoing personality more or less fits Persona’s The Magician but I could be wrong on this, never stopped to think of Kouga before

You simply hold your friend’s hand to stop him from talking, and simply say, “Goodbye…” Right now you don’t think you need to say anything else. Today, you feel that you understand the Pope better… almost like if you have forged a true bond with him.

When Ludwig leaves in his wife’s portal of darkness, you release your friend’s hand, and she glares at you. For a moment you think she will ask you why you stopped her, but instead she asks…

“Kouga… that man is wrong. Love is not something you struggle with, it’s not something that makes you suffer! Love is something that you earn, that you take in your hands and make it yours… I hope you understand that, Kouga.” Then your friend angrily leaves, leaving you with no words to say to her.

Why is she so angry about this? And her name… it was wrong right?

But you know one thing, your friend also feels strongly about love... but you think you already knew that.

"Hey Kouga, can I have another slice!" A certain black spider sits besides you, and closer to the tray with delicious treats, reminding you of something you almost forgot.

Right now you only have two guests left, the silent Doctor and her aide, Versa, who is eating her third slice of cake!

A part of you feels bad that you have been ignoring them and just concentrating on Mars and your nice friend, so maybe you should take some time and talk with them…

Turning to the Doctor, you stop to think for a moment and feel curios about something, after hearing Mars and your friend talk about their feelings, you want to hear how the Good Ol’ Doctor feels about Love from her mouth.

“So Doctor, just asking, how do you feel about Love?” Only after asking that, you realize that the Doctor could think you are asking her out… and just want to facepalm.

Luckily (or not), the Doctor just ignores the implications of your question, and answers mechanically, “Kouga, Love… love in the end is what you are willing to make it be. Do you understand?” You just shake your head.

“Some prefer to dismiss love as a chemical reaction in the brain, Kouga, and just live by ignoring those impulses. Others, tend to view it as a the sole purpose of their life, and live thinking only about it.” This is surprisingly neutral, coming from someone like the Doctor, you almost expected her to dismiss it as a cheap emotion.

“Love is not something that I can dismiss Kouga, but what it end up meaning to you, is something you have to decide by yourself. I have seen how Love can help men become Heroes and Saints, as they live their lives doing good action for the sake of others.

But at the same time, I have seen how love twist men until they become Villains and Heretics, as they use it as an excuse for their actions and live at the expense of others.

In the end Kouga, Love, like many things in life, is what you choice it to be, and you have the right… and the freedom to learn of it and choose how you want to express that emotion. That’s something not even the gods can take from you, Kouga.”

That sure sounds deep, but you feel like the Doctor just avoided giving her personal stance on the subject… maybe she feels that she has no right to say anything?

But before you can push her to give you a concrete answer, you see the Doctor standing, and Versa follows behind her, as the lady in the lab coat walks to your door. “Kouga, it’s already late, and we still have work to do, so we will now take our leave, I am glad you invited us to eat, Kouga!”

Yeah, it’s late, you still have some things to do, but still…

You don’t bother to even try to run away or hide, with this girl you owe her at least that much. You have to be honest with her, even if it kills you. So you simply walk, walk until you reach a certain familiar park, were a certain masked girl is sitting on a bench.

So wordlessly, you take a seat besides Sonia, and just wait. She was the one that came for you, so you will wait until she feels ready to talk.

Sonia is your first real friend, and between the two of you there should never be any lies.

You can’t run away, even though this is painful, you won’t allow yourself to think of anything else. You will do this like always, rushing forward and hoping for the best!

You owe it to Sonia, to do that much!

“Sonia… to be honest, I really don’t know how to face you… I-I” All of this is just false bravado, right? You say you have to be honest and that you can’t hesitate, but in the end you are just scared? Is this girl that important? Just run away to the darkness, just forget the sin and she doesn’t have to ever know… once again I ask, how important is this girl?

That’s a stupid question… yeah very stupid, the answer is that her importance is unmeasurable. She is your priceless friend! To you there is no other way to think of this girl. “I honestly want you to answer me a question, Sonia.”

Sonia to her credit, just kept calm and coolly replies to you, “Then feel free to ask me anything Kouga, you don’t have to feel afraid of me.”

See how easy the mask makes things. You can’t even tell if she is lying to you? How can you trust someone whose face you can’t see? How do you know she is not tricking you right now? Remember, from the start your friendship was built from lies. It was just a sad farce she staged for you. So why are you hesitating, just do it. Use the darkness and erase the sin.

You can do it, after all I am you. The true self that is waiting in your heart, the only self you need in this moment.

Wise Up: Facing your Sins… [In which I go on a tangent]

Kouga, in this would making mistakes is something you can’t avoid, I think that by now we both know that by now you already know that.

You must be wondering, what can you do right when you hurt someone, how can you make up for your sin? I… I can’t say that I have an answer, or at least that I have an easy answer.

But I think that you will have to face that person, look at their eyes and ask for forgiveness… and then your can start working to make things right. I know that doing this is hard, and sometimes you feel that running away might be better, but sometimes being honest with the people you care about is for the best.

Kouga, there are no easy ways to fix things, but I am the type that likes to think that if you work hard and follow the path you choose, then you will be able to amend your mistakes.

My friend, as free beings we are responsible for our actions, that’s why we have to consider what consequences they might bring to yourself and others. I know this is hard… but that is what life is, and not even you can avoid that.

In the end, you have to accept the downsides of being a free human… being free means having to carry your own sins only with your own shoulders… remember that.

No god will forgive you, or just wash away what you did. You won't have someone obscure the things you hate until you can fog the truth with lies, so you can feel better.

That's not what you should be doing... that's not why you were born free, Kouga.

A free man has no excuses… not even to himself.

That's why you are responsible for what you end up doing with that freedom.
