In a World of Darkness and Light, Monsters and Men, Dragons and Gryphons, Witches and Mages, Heroes and Legends, Kingdoms and Empire's, there is much strife and war. Peace in all four corners of the world is a very rare thing of beauty. Kings and Emperors are fighting for power and land on both battlefields and at court. However, you're not part of this struggle for power, not yet. For reasons unknown you don't remember your life as a human nor the torture you went through to become what you are today; A twisted being of dark magic, your body has been mutilated and corrupted beyond its limits. However, like many dark beings before you, you've been chained by the power that rules behind the scenes of politics and war in this world; The Holy Church.

Created by darkness and leashed by the light, you're a monster under the Church's will. You are an Inquisitor, the last of its kind. Once a man, twisted by magic, you now serve the Church as a hunter or a judge against monsters, witches, renegade mages and all the evil that oppose the holy order.

“Where's your mask?”, the blond man asked, his monotone voice ever present.

“I threw it away.”, you respond dryly, casting a glance on his face and the red-blue light shining occasionally behind him down the balcony.

“Ah.”

“What happened to your eye?”

“The price I had to pay for thinking that the dark void being would help me without promising a reward.”, He explains, and his answer is met with silence from you. Of course the Dark void being wouldn't have gone through all this without the promise of a reward waiting for it by the end. However, what did it want? Power? Money? Lands? All these things were fickle to such a being. They cared little for land, had no use for money and their power came from knowledge. Then it hit you like a brick; The Saint's library! Maybe the Dark void being wanted access to the one source of knowledge and wisdom that no dark being or monster has ever laid hands on before? All the secrets and ancient methods of the Holy Order lies in that library. If such a price has been promised to him by Austec, how was he going to go about giving it just that? The answer would have to wait for now.

“Then, how shall we do this? Do you want to judge me now or will you listen to a deal that would be worth your time? Either way, I've accomplished what I set out to do; My life is worth nothing to anyone but yourself.”, Austec proclaimed, his hands resting at his sides. He didn't show any signs of violence or any want to escape his fate.

You nod quietly at him, giving him the go to start talking. However, you're not about to let him out of your sight; this hunt has gone on for too long and has cost too many lives in its wake. Your reptilian eyes never leave him, like a hawk watching its prey drifting about on the ground below. Austec doesn't flinch at your decision. Instead, he smiles, leaning against the edge of the balcony.

"By now I'd wager you already know who you are, if not, let me enlighten you; You are Sanguine Shield, former Justicar and Knight-Commander of the Imperial Army, born and raised with a silver spoon in your mouth and the elder brother to the current Valkyrie.", through this entire reveal his voice is still as unemotional as before, even though his smile is still there, "Or rather, you were Sanguine Shield.", he adds in the end, mocking you. You were told by your humanity that you're name was Sanguine Shield from before and that you had been part of the Holy order when you were turned into an Inquisitor, but he left out a lot of details. However, it doesn't matter who you were before or what you did till you were turned into the creature you are today.

"What would you say if I could turn you back to your human form? You will revert back to your humanity. Of course you'll still have all the scars, but most important of all, you'll be accepted by everyone again!", even though he raised his voice to make his point clear, the tone of his voice doesn't change, "Here's my proposal to you; Help me purge the corrupted Holy Order and when I recreate it in the name of the Maker, I shall make you the Valkyrie and together we shall end the Aelvii and all those who oppose the Light and the Maker!", and there it was; Austec's true voice. He was excited and his eyes were darting around with all that supressed energy.

As for the deal, you didn't know what to say; You could return to your human form, be accepted by the Imperium again and return to the Holy order, or you could remain as an Inquisitor because there's no going back or maybe you've fallen too far to ever rise to what you once were?

"What do you say?!", Austec practically screamed in excitement, his hands and arms shaking in front of him.

With the blue and red lights shining behind him, the clenching fists and shaking arms, his eyes darting around but still maintaining its lock on you, and his wicked smile makes you question if this is a sane choice to make for a moment. Your eyes narrow in a stare onto him.

"What of the chains that bind me?", it was a valid question that you've long pondered on and with an ex-holy man in front of you who seems to have no problem revealing secrets to you, it is the perfect moment. Austec calmed down for a bit and returned back to his calm self. His eyes never left you.

"There are no chains; There's only a single word spell made by the Father to invoke light magic into you, to keep you in check.", his smile grows wide and his eyes start to shake again, "You've been fooled for eight years!", and now he's laughing at you, "You've been held by a leash that never existed for so long! Only the Justicars, the Valkyrie and the Father knows of this spell. Or well, they and the Elves too now thanks to me."

Your face is unfazed, but inside you hear your humanity call out for you to calm down while a storm of rage and hatred are ruling your insides. You have to calm down lest you make a horrible mistake; You count to four, inhale, count to four again, exhale.

"Do you have any other questions or have you made up your mind?!", Austec was impatiently shaking, pointing his finger at you.

"This spell," you start, moving closer towards Austec which makes him press his body towards the edge of the balcony, "how do I remove it?", this could prove crucial to finally be free of the damnable Order. While the revelation that there was only a spell and not some magical constant chains in place made matters easier for you. However, if you didn't destroy the source, one of them would eventually catch you and use it against you. The only answer was to root out the problem at its core. There's a gleam of fear in Austec's eyes after your question.

"How to remove it?", he laughs nervously, but calms down very quickly, "Then you would have to kill every soul that knows it by heart; The Father, the Valkyrie, all the Justicars, the Elf king and anyone he showed the scroll to and...", his voice trails off into a whisper, but you can still hear him, "...myself."

Quite the hunt; A lot of high profile targets and a majority of them were stronger than you. One of them even created you as far as you know. However, with time and the right opportunities, you might be able to pull it off, but you doubted it. You're a realist at heart, not an idealist.

For now, it was time to deal with your current problem.

The goal is clear, the methods are old and the pain changes nothing. With a slow march, you make your way towards Austec with your hand outstretched, as if you are about to give him a handshake and accept his deal. He sighs, visible reliefed and meets you halfway. The second he grabs your right hand and shakes it, you clench it and grabs his blond head with your other hand. The next words out of your mouth is the only dark magic you know and just like when you used it on the Ork Warlock, the effects are the same; Austec's resistance fades away before he falls to his knees before you. His eyes slowly starts to turn black.

"In the name of the Maker, I hereby judge you to the sentence of Death for the crimes of burglary, murder, and heresy.", your voice rings out with its demonic and gritty metallic tone. He tries to gasp for air, but it's futile. He was a dead man the second you cast the spell on him. His arms are hanging by his sides, unable to resist. The darkness has filled Austec's eyes and are now pouring down like tears on his cheeks, "May the Maker have mercy on your soul.", you finish the chant that has been worked into your mind many years ago. The shell that was once Austec falls backwards and remains on the black floor. You have finished your hunt and judged your prey!

However, from here you can see what's below the balcony and where the lights are coming from at last; Several meters below there are four armies of armed and armoured Monsters pouring into the four open portals of red and blue at the end of the room, by the wide wall. This must be what you've feared would happen; Benjamin was right and the two scrolls must have been the key to the Imperium's capital. This is the Aelvii invasion.

>A. Wait for the armies to thin out before attempting to go through the portal. Better to be safe than sorry.
>B. Leap down and rush for one of the portals. You need to get there as fast as possible! Autumn might be there if the Elves were true to their word! (DC 40)

Had you've been presented with this choice a year ago, you would have walked away in every scenario. However, you've changed ever since you left Oaksberry; You met Benjamin and Autumn, traveled on the longest hunt to date, saved them both, freed the little elf girl from slavery, was the first Inquisitor inside the hidden city of Elves and spirits thank to Theresa, watched Benjamin die and Autumn ripped away, walked on the soil of Aelvii. A lot of these experience has changed you somewhat, and with your humanity edging you on in the back of your head, you can't resist to take this chance to do good.

You leap down from the balcony and roll as you land before getting up. Several of the nearby monsters noticed you and some of them even cried out "Inquisitor!" while you rushed past them. It gained you some unwanted attention from the warriors ahead of you, but like in a dance, you dodge the attacks from the nearby Satyrs and Orks. Eventually you reach the portals and launch yourself through one of them.

The thick smell of smoke and fire hits you across the face and the screams of humans ring all around you; The heart of the Imperium is burning! It's being sacked by the invading Monsters. Bodies of soldiers, guards, knights, commoners, and monsters litter the streets. You imagine that the humans had no idea about this and no warning came before it was already too late. Benjamin, the man who had placed it upon himself to warn his fellow brothers and sisters, had died before all of this.

The Order will have to wait, and so will the emperor and possible the dark void being as well; You need to thin out the enemy forces to allow the Imperials room to breathe. Making your way down the street, the sound of steel against steel drowning out the moans of pain increases till you dash around the corner, facing a legion of Imperial soldiers and knights fighting against waves of Monsters in great numbers.

In the midst of the fighting you spot a Minotaur holding a giant battleaxe and clad in plate armour. He's cutting down knights and soldiers by the dozen with each swing of his axe, ignoring any and all attacks that get through his great offense. To your right, you see a man barking out orders to the knights in the formations. He must be the Legatus; The commander of this legion.

>A. Face off against the Minotaur! (DC 60)
>B. Engage the waves of Monster and support the Legion. (DC 40)

The prey has been chosen and while its death won't stop this invasion, it might turn the tide for this battle alone. The furious minotaur continues to cut through the armour clad Imperial knights like a warm knife through butter. Anyone who dares to get too close to him evidentely dies very quickly. That might not be the best choice, but it's still a choice. With your speed and reflexes, you're certain that you could dodge his attack and kill him in close range, but there might be a better way to go about it...

You don't have much time to think, but you quickly realise that you could either use blood magic; stealth run and use your stiletto from behind on the Minotaur; rush it; you could use the Legate and his group of archers standing back from the battle and knocking off arrows in free will.

>A. Rush head first at the Minotaur, sword in hand!
