OPENING
>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F468us4qCUE

Previously: Cerulean arrived upon a mysterious island after a mission to rescue shipwrecked personnel had gone awry due to mysterious humanoid monsters.

Meeting the natives, Cerulean found aid in the form of a humanoid monster by the name of Kurojo, a tusked Kahkori of Kakarkiko island.

With his and his uncle's help, she had been reunited with Marine, her friend from training and childhood.

After killing a fierce foe reviled by Kahkori, Cerulean fell ill, and was given a cure by Kurojo. In the village, she learned of a strange ability and found herself able to utilize "Aura."

Journeying with Kurojo, Cerulean and Marine make it to the joint city of races amongst the island chain. It is there in Raguna city that she fights to the death with a rambunctious Smolderan.
Slipping out of her right mind, she executes her foe with absolute certainty, earning her some recognition with a Smolderan leader and the right to engage in a hunting exam at his request.

Cerulran takes a test with another species known as the Araraki, an infallibly polite and timid representative of her people.
Upon completing the hunt, they are put through a naming ceremony and engage in some festivities, taking a somewhat heavier turn as Akabaron, Vi-Smohkan of the Smolderan, goes over his deal with Cerulean.

A ship made through the efforts of the three great races...

Aaand reporting in.
Marine, I hope you're as shock resistant as you seem to be in our training, that shit is going to be useful.

We need to get her some heavy metal cables or nets or hooks or whatever really.

What did we get from

By the laws of Pokemon, Marine should be completely immune to electric attacks, but I'm not sure if that's gonna be the case here, since that would make things too easy.
>>
>>33659411
>Implying she aint gonna get hipwrecked.
>>
>>33659049
Yo Prof.

The moves are listed with different ranks in the by cost list and the regular list.

>Icy Wind/Blizzard (10+2): Generates a chilling wind or a large howling gale that saps heat from what it touches.Blizzard generates Fatigue.

>>Icy Wind (6+2): You have refined your power over ice, allowing you to conjure up a wind that generates lasting frost in passing, and a chill that tickles down into muscle tissue.

Which one we got?
>>
>>33659436
Oh, and Frost Wave should be rank 7 if we actually got Blizzard.

Just because it's known for electric typing doesn't mean it can't resort to other physical moves.

Hao witheld Akabaron from any sort of trial, answering in private that he was much too close to his goal to let old politics ruin everything. Akabaron, thankful, issued Smolder to assist the manning of the great hunting ship. With his return to Smelda to oversee the creation of the Arc that the White Lord would be the heart of, you walk the deck of the great ship with Marine. It's polished, slick, and serpentine, adorned with the flesh and bones of various aquatic monsters.

Harpoon turrets and cannons upon the side, and a great sail being unfurled by acrobatic Khakori sailors.

Hao hiself stands upon the deck, no screen to hide his brilliance as he rallies the hunters and sailors. Once finished, the Khakori unleash a warbling cry, the Smolder a deck-shaking roar, the Araraki the only ones standing in silence.

You, Marine, Kurojo, and Seralana stand up on deck in your equipment, freshly made and remodelled for this hunt.

Seralana's abandoned her scrap-like robes for a carefully tailored garb of reptilian leathers standing blue and silver against her green scales. A brassier and bottom, it's the first time you've ever seen her show so much skin... What those leather robes had hidden were scales that glittered like emeralds, a nimble hourglass figure, a powerful tail and various little buds all over her body, small leafing vines even that exposed leaves at her joints.
He Glaive has been refitted with a lightweight and shimmering Narga-Kage blade, a new bone of another monster weighing down the other end.

You remodelled your own armor, keeping the basis of the Narga-kage's “underwear armor” as you'd begun to call it, the open stomach and joints have been replaced by Ordilian leather with enough openings at your feet and other areas to keep it passing through. You specifically told the craftsmaster to make sure water drained out of this suit.

Combo move ideas with energy ball.

>Form an E.Ball and Ice Ball at the same time, shooting the mixture of plant and ice energy in one projectile.
>Same thing, but with Icicle Gun instead of Ice Ball. Will result in the plant energy penetrating deeper into the target before detonation (hopefully)
>Fire the E.Ball and then shoot it with a Psybeam to cause it to airburst. Same thing may be possible with Icicle Gun depending on the projectile speeds. Alternately, V.Wave may be used for potentially best results because of priority.
>>
>>33659631
Just a question: why do you think Energy Ball does all those things? I don't see any description for what it actually IS.
>>
>>33659712
It's natural energy from the environment which is condensed and then fired by our omniguns. It detonates on impact.
>>
>>33659613
>marine is ground
>seralana is ground
>we're super weak to electric type

This isn't gonna be pleasant for us.
>>
Did we get our indexes back, and did we attempt to download the data from the PCs?
>>
>>33659757
So why would psychic energy cause it to detonate?

Would it detonate upon contact with water?
>>
>>33659766
>>seralana is ground
She's Grass with medium powers, I thought. Still resists Electric, but I don't think she's Ground.
>>
>>33659757
We can infuse Psychic and Aura energy into any of our attacks, so I guess the logic flows.

I dunno. It might or it might not. Pokemon is weird. We can do all kinds of weird shit with Psybeam that we never got around to, like infusing bubbles with psionic power or using ice as prisms to focus or redirect it. Wouldn't take more than 10 seconds to test it, though.
>Would it detonate upon contact with water?
Probably.

Yeah, pokescience is weird.

>>33659874
>>Would it detonate upon contact with water?
>Probably.
What are the Araraki gonna DO, besides use their armor to grow vines?

Is the main tactic just to keep the Lord above the water for as long as possible?
>>
>>33659851
>>33659820
she's a ground/grass symbiote hybrid.

Sort of like a paras, but with a ground lizard instead of a bug and vines instead of mushrooms.
>>
>>33659931
I think the tactic is A. cover the lord with metal so its shocking doesn't do as much to us
B. shoot it repeatedly at close range with piercing attacks
>>
>>33659935
And do you have anything to support this or are you the same guy who's been repeating this speculation for months now?
>>
>>33659971
Wasn't it confirmed as true back when all this was still up in debate?
>>
>>33659921
This is a bit late, but all the rangers in the Dome take classes for Typing, right? I mean, it makes sense to document which rangers are effective against which monsters, right?

So why don't they just use the pokemon terms for typing?
>>
Marine's swapped out her heavy metal armor for underwear. Her shell's been growing a lot lately and her entire back and belly's armored in layers of hard red shell. She figured that if the thing's got electricity, then that's all she really needs to worry about. A hit Is gonna hurt armor or no.
Her Frosty Jawed Kanabo still slung over her back.

You agree with her, but you also don't have natural armor like that.

Kurojo went the same route as everyone else. He wears only a loincloth to preserve his decency. Something that's more of a stigma in Raguna at least.
He wields a spear fit at one end with the crackling horn of an electric monster. He must figure that it'll negate some of the voltage.

The rest of the deck-born hunters maintain various degrees of armor to a lack of armor or explicitly aquatic armor.

Save for the Smolder donning their go-to plate armor and mail. You'd asked, and as it turns out they figure themselves for dead if they go overboard anyway.

The ship sets off, riding swiftly upon the air and ocean current with such speed that it occasionally skips over a wave Smolder retreat below deck, much like Nala and Akabaron would, you figure. They'll come out only when they need to participate in the hunt.

Your heart flutters in your chest. This is it. After this you'll have everything you need for the trip home. At one point, you wonder if they'd recognize you now. You've met so many new people, learned so many things, and you barely even recognize your old self- or Marine's. You've both gotten taller, and been through a lot of hunts that would hardly be good for a cadet.

You still waver now and then, between your desire to return home, the anxiety of what will await when you return from the dead, and leaving all the new people you've met behind.
>>
Even Hao's been rather likeable, allowing you less formal visits and drinking tea, talking about the past. He let you download what files you could from his hidden archive. You couldn't fit everything, but you got some choice pieces of evidence. At this point, you're certain that it'll be seized from you, but you won't let them just take it, or your memories of this place.

Nala's been like another mom, maybe like an Aunt. And Kurojo... You realized that he reminds you a lot of Bruise, and he's gotten distant since you've told him about your choice to go home.
After he learned about the past from Hao, he's been wary of going anywhere near such a place.

That's not to mention the dubious facts that surround your origins.

You look down at the crystal waves breaking from shimmering sunlight to white foam at the crest of the ship. The cool sea hair brushing past your fur, the taste of salt lingering upon your lips and tongue.

You can't take the Lord Of White Waves down soon enough.

Months preparation at this point surmounts to this...

They can hook themselves to the ship, at least.

>Marine's decision to stay
Where the hell is Marine's Rocket Mode? Doesn't it make her a ticking time bomb if she stays?

>>33660023
>I'm fine, don't want to get distracted

Apparently, Rocket Mode is just Ceru being crazy.
>>
>>33660233
It better not be. I understand if Marine didn't train long enough for it to take(not really, but the excuse is good enough), but if Ceru really IS the only one to have Rocket Mode then this is just bad writing.
>>
You approach Kurojo as he reclines against one of the masts of the ship. He's in a position where it looks like he's trying to look cool, but really he's just sleeping, you see as the slight whistle of his snore's what led you to him. What's impressive though is how he keeps his balance despite the rock of the ship.

With a pinch at the fleshy part of his cheek, his eyes open up, and their golden sets fall upon you. “Ah, White.” He pushes himself off, stretching out his back. His eyes flick away, avoiding yours a bit, instead contenting himself with the view of the rolling waves, the occasional monster jumping over them. “Dollphos, they call them. The tricksters of the sea. It's said that they're good luck, unless you fall overboard.”

“What do they do?”

“Never stop playing.”

You hum at that, before looking down and grabbing his hand, looking up at him. “Jojo?”

He takes his hand away from you. It takes a moment though, and it seems that he's reluctant. “What?” You can feel something wrong in him.

“We haven't spoken as much lately is all. I know I've been busy and everthing but.”

He shakes his head, his crest's gotten long. It looks like a mohawk now. “No, it's okay. If I were you, I'd want to go home too.”

If there's one thing you'd like to say, it's, “But you don't want me to.” But you could never say that. He hasn't even said it. Not once has he begged you to reconsider. Not once has he told you, “Don't go home.”

“I said back then, that I'd help you find a way home, right?”

“You did.”

He looks at you now, the sunlight streaming through his red feathers, casting him in a ruby-like sheen, his oranges glowing like fire. “I keep my promises.”

>[] “Even the ones you don't want to keep?

You have no one to blame but Prof for that when lots of people made it absolutely clear since the beginning (even as soon as we took control of Jojo that one time) that they didn't intend to ever end up with him.

“Even the ones... You don't want to keep?” You say, as you put your arms around him on deck for everyone else topside to see. He straightens his back, stiffening up before gently pushing against you, reluctant to actually push you away.

“White...” You can sense his inner frustrations. The things that he wants to say, but can't lest it inconvenience you. He's too proud and honorable for his own good.

You give him a tighter squeeze, showing your resolution and he finally gives up, resting his arms around you as well.

You two stay like that for a bit, until the ship skips a wave and sends the two of you tumbling over. You land on top of him, and the two of you stare into each others' eyes. Your heart beats a bit faster and you slowly lower your face towards his, puckering up your lips just a little.

You give him a kiss on the forehead before you get off of him and help him up, holding his hand as you look away.

“Thank you Jojo. For everything.”

You walk off after that, too embarrassed and a little sad to stick around him.
As much as you like him, you're not staying here forever.

You'll talk to someone else tomorrow you guess...

>>33662240
>More like just one or two.
Okay.

The plan is to get in contact with some esper proof rockets and get a message to the boss that we need a high level escort back to the dome. Secret info stuff.

Then report to the boss as best as we can.
>>
>>33662294
Well, we have Aura, and I'm pretty sure the Dome should have no knowledge or way of preparing for that. It would be a good idea to set up a meeting in a way that could capitalize on that, so we can flee if we sense that they mean us bad times.

There's also Agatha, who's most likely to know the truth.
>>
You go below deck, and find Marine wrestling away the Smolders' sea sickness. Engaged in a skin on skin brawl, Marine's right in the middle of delivering a decisive suplex to her oppenent, mashing their head and stabbing their horns into the floor.

The Other Smolder unleash an uproar of laughter as Marine dusts off her hands, the Smolder struggling to remove his head from an embarassing position.

They snarl, growl, and spit fire, but to no avail as Marine walks around to give her foe an open handed spank on the rump.
“Keep at it, an' make sure it doesn't happen during the hunt! Then again, you coul' prolly see the beast surrender'n t' that rump!” Marine says in near-perfect Raguna, sending the other smolder into another bout of laughter.

Seems she's become real popular with the crew...

“Hey Marine, you got a minute?” You say, sliding in through the crowd.

“Ultramarine.” One of the Smolder corrects you. “You should know the name of your partner, Blachne Diable!”

“White” You correct, “That's the name I chose, and I don't need a nickname.”

“Hey, easy, easy.” Marine approaches waving the Smolder down, “I'll be right back guys, an' get tha' fool's head outta th' floor fer the next match!”

Marine takes you by the arm and takes you to another part of the cargo bay. This is the place that's going to carry the beast's corpse. Wide and spacious, it should be enough to drag the monster home. For now though, it's used for Smolder sparring. Apparently fighting makes them less restless.

“You're really getting along with them, aren't you?” You say once you're out of the way of the brutes fighting.
>>
Marine smiles at you, giving you a little punch on the arm that actually really smarts, “ 'Course! They're awesome. I've loved their games ever since I got here, the drinking, the armwrestling, the sparring, they're pretty great.” Marine ruffles her own short hair, sticking her tongue, “I'm glad that they're coming back with us at least. By the way, you talk to Jojo? He seemed kind of upset last night.”

With a sigh, you push a lock of hair back behind your ornamental horns, “Yeah... More like what I didn't say to him though...”

“Hey, you like him, right?”

You suck in your breath at that, dropping your head down bashfully.

Marine nods with a knowing smile, “Uh huh...”

You shake your head, “But... I can't.”

“Why not?”

“Because we're gonna leave, and we might not ever come back...”

“What if you asked him to come with you? Then you wouldn't have to worry about that.”

You swallow thinking it over. “If he came, Silph might take him and experiment on him.”

“Would you let them?”

You look at her with a defiant, confused look, “Of course, I wouldn't! I wouldn't let them do that...”

“Then it's fine, right? They're going to try looking at our memories, and we know they'll want to take them away. Why should we cooperate. Screw the rules Cerulean. Are you going to let the rules stand in the way of love?”

“What about you? Weren't you all about Hao?”

“Uh huh. But then I figured he only really looked at you. Besides, he's all busy being kingly with his sparkly butt. You need me Ceru. I mean, look at you. If I wasn't here, you'd just be an idiot about being with Kurojo. Go on, you should ask him.”

“But what if he says no?” You whimper, grasping at straws for some reason not to.

“But what if you're a butt?”

“What?”
>>
“Stop thinking and go do it. You think too much. It'll be fine.” Marine turns you around and pats you forward by your hind, “Go, on, get to it then, I'll beat you up if you don't!”

You're hurried on, but you stop short in the stairwell. You can't help but to frown and keep frowning. Marine says you should but... what if something happens during the hunt? This is a really dangerous monster...

But, don't think Marine says. But you need to think... You really do... Ohhhh, what should you do...

It's because people know Prof has been keen on forcing Kurojo on us for a while. This one was an especially devious move from him, because it's obvious there would be people who'd vote to keep Kurojo just to spite shippers. Me, I'm voting just to show Prof that he's a pretty bad guy.
>>
Vote end. Ceru is asking jojo.
>>
>>33662955
Marine would have asked Jojo anyways, wouldn't she?
>>
>>33662940
It's not forcing.

We already told Prof to have romance be handled in-character, to prevent shipping stalemates.

And right now, Jojo is a damn good choice.
>>
>>33663014
People told Prof that he could develop Ceru to actually feel it, but not to forcefully pick it for everyone.
>>
>>33663055
How is this forceful?
>>
>>33663014
He's been forcing Kurojo on us by having EVERY reaction with him ever since we entered the city be 'romantically charged'. Even if we just wanted to talk normally to him, Prof inevitably turned it into shipping. We even went to just talk to Marine and he went and made it about Kurojo again.

>>
>>33663084

If you didn't want it to be about him, what did you want to talk about?

Everybody just voted for Marine without any details.
>>
>>33663138
Kurojo's been moping since the beginning. He's been avoiding us already for a while. It was inevitable, whether we chose to spoke to Marine before or now, that Prof would have had her ask this.
>>
>>33662940
>>33663084
Nigger, if people vote for it, they vote for it. Instead of rationalizing everything as some kind of devious deception every time you don't get your way, maybe you should... not do that instead?
>>
>>33663197
I don't actually need to 'rationalize' anything if people blatantly stated that they voted for it because they dislike shippers voting against it.
>>
>>33663084
Because we're filled with hormones and he's very attractive without being kind of creepy about it like Hao is.

And Marine isn't blind, she know Ceru wants him more than Ceru does. This is exactly the kind of thing she'd have us do.
>>
>>33663189

>>
>>33663241
Ceru 'wants' Kurojo because Prof made it that way. It wasn't actually voted for. Which leads us to the problem here
>>33663014
With Prof mistaking 'developing' a character with 'choosing on his own' how to develop that character. We may as well have avoided interacting with Kurojo completely if he was only going to make every interaction with him romantic.
>>
>>33663293
And in that case, my statement of Prof being devious has been completely legitimized.
>>
>>33663327
It wasn't voted for because otherwise nothing would happen ever.

Even if she was attracted to Devon/Bruise/Goldenrod, it certainly didn't reach the level of "love" and that she'd "save herself" for them.

Yes, and? Have you read anything I've written? Ceru wouldn't even like Kurojo if Prof didn't write that she felt that way. Forget the fact that he's called Ceru pretty; why is it that the immediate and only reaction anyone can have towards that is to fall in love?
>>

It's like she's a teenager or something.
>>
To the shipping people one way or another, I'd like to voice the opinion that Kurojo seems like a fine [First Official Boyfriend], Nice guy, Exotic, been through some adventures. Working up the nerve, despite your internal conflict you finally let out a long breath as you finalize your decision.
You're going to ask him. And after you ask him, it's up to him. Yes, it's up to him whether he wants to come with you or not.

You head up to the quarterdeck, finding Kurojo swinging in his hammock. You creep in through the doorway, suddenly feeling very shy. “Uhm, hey Kurojo...” You say, as you slip him.

He turns to you, looking down from his bunk,” Oh, hey there White... You need something?”

You nod, taking a step up to him, finally looking at him, “Yeah, Jojo... About yesterday.”

“Don't worry about it. I'm okay. Just kind of thinking. I've been thinking for a while.”

“Jojo, please. I want you to listen to me for a sec, okay?” He slides his legs over, and looks down, hanging at the edge of the hammock precariously.

“Alright...”

You reach up to him, reaching for his hand, “Come... Come here, okay?” Tiny little flutterbies in your stomach, you grab Kurojo by the hand and pull him down. As he lands, you put your arms around him, putting your head against his chest.

He's taken aback, “White?”

“Shhh. Just listen.” You squeeze him tighter before letting go and looking up at him, “Jojo, I like you... I... I don't want to leave but I need to...” The words start to get stuck in your chest, eyes sting, and you push away the beginnings of tears.
“I'm sorry that you're keeping your promise, and I really need to go home...” Your chest heaves as it works through the sobs, lip quivering.
“I know... I know it's a lot to ask. But I need to ask.” You look him in the eye, and still yourself as much as you can.

“When I leave... Will you come with me?”
>>
Kurojo's beak cracks open as he searches your eyes. No words come out yet and you smile hopefully. With an exalted sigh, “It's a lot to ask.”

You nod, the tears finally stopping. “I know.”

“But you're asking...”

You nod. “Uh huh”

“I'll to think about it.”

“Promise?”

His hands touch your shoulders and he touches his forehead to yours. “Promise.”

You spend most of the day watching Seralana up on deck, resolving to join her for practice tomorrow. You fire shots off into the horizon, a part of you wondering if any of your attacks could reach a cloud.

Seralana goes through her motions the next day and you join her, picking up a spare Araraki Glaive. It's a strange weapon and seems unwieldy at first, but you find that it's actually very well balanced. Seralana teaches you some of the basic movements and you catch on rather quickly, having observed her before.

Eventually you get tired of using the weapon and return it, though it's not like you didn't enjoy using it. You're just not used to having your hands occupied... And it's been a long time since you held anything like that. Brings you right back to your days in Cerulean.

You sit beside Seralana, the two of you partaking in your own refreshments.

“White.” She says, as a whisper.

You look to her, with wide eyes, this is the first she's ever referred to you by name. “Uhm, yeah. What's up Sera?”

“We have been thinking... Of Serebyi...”

“Yeah, what about her?”

“She spoke to you, and us... And you said that Araraki could leave and find peace.” She pauses for a moment, draining away the rest of her drink. “ We want to travel. Elder said We are getting old for apprenticing. So we think world will make us wiser.”

“So... You want to go on the ship with the Smolder?”

“Yes... Even if they bad. We think it help us understand Serebyi's peace. We want to understand why she no return. We think you are clue.”

You smile to her, a bit bashful, “Well, if it works for you, it works for me. Uh, what about those eggs?”

“An Elder takes care of. Hatch into shiny little babies... They will grow strong, and then they will go elsewhere.”

You don't really want to ask her what “elsewhere” is... But it'll be nice to see her for a bit longer in any case...

>>
>The Hunt Begins...

Night falls and the ship begins to slow as it slips out of the speed-current, the rocking and skipping across the waves gradually coming into a steady sail and only when the wind will permit.

The ship's headed for a great outcropping of bleached salt-enchrusted stones standing tall and leading into a brief inland.

Ever hand is up on the deck in as much armor as they're willing to risk. Some Smolder tied themselves to the ship by metal cables, others prime the cannons, and Khakori man the harpoon turrets.

You and Marine are set to be the first to engage and to continue engagement if it tries diving too deep.

The harpoons will keep the beast from getting too far, but they're liable to break. Too few harpoons and the beast can just shake them off, too many and it may drag the ship into the briny blue. The Smolder plan to bombard the creature, and the Araraki are ready, gathering natural energy for a volley of energy balls.

The ship's sails are gathered up, leaving just enough for a steady sail as it begins circling partway around the island, the only noise at this point, the occasional calling for the ones manning the wheel and sails to adjust them. The rhythm of waves breaking against the hull of the ship.

Hao's Imperial Impaler is primed, ready to go, and now...

A Khakori smashes a colossal gong, sending a ripple through the water, breaking against the stones.

Everyone stands in position, you keep to the starboard rear with Marine ready to jump overboard with harpoons, Seralana and Jojo right beside you. They've volunteered to breach the dark blues, ropes attached to their feet at the edge of the ship to ensure they wouldn't get lost.
>>
For a moment, you had the idea, you aren't sure where you got it from, but this IDEA that you'd be fighting in the dark of the ocean...

But the ocean around the island turns white.

Your hair stands on end, and the readings from your index pick up as your Volt Orb receives additional charge, a wave of static washing over the boat.

“What?” You whisper and the waves break, a sea-borne mountain of white scales and crackling blue electricity pass by the ship, a rolling, snaking wave that buries itself back into the sea.

It's far larger than you could have imagined. The only thing that you can think of now, standing atop of what must be the equivalent of a frigate. The monster is equal to, if not greater in size to the very boat that your standing upon.

A smolder unleashes a wail of despair, only to be backhanded by another. They unleash a warcry, repositioning and aiming the cannons at their quarry.

Lighting gushes out of the water and you swallow. You'd heard that this thing is ALWAYS charged...

Those look zapular. Important for zapping. Gotta get some of these metal harpoon lines in there and fucking up his charge ability.

>>[X] Fire at the blue growths.
>>
The harpoons fly. Some go wide, others glance off, but a few do stick. Yours flies right for one of the blue growths, glancing off futiley. They're harder than you expected. Those'll require a larger impact of some sort.
Moments after the first volley of harpoons, the Araraki unleash their first barrage and their green energy flies into the waters, unleashing green flashes that ripple the waves and paint the sea in splashes of color. A moment later, the lines go taught, the ship getting pulled for a moment before suddenly going slack. Something hits the ship, rocking everyone on deck. You watch hard, for the thing to rise, but cannons go off and down it dives once again

It's then that you realize, it's taken out ships before... It must know to attack the underbelly. If the hull goes then you're all...

The Araraki Hunters are already running below deck to do what they can in regards to the issue. You can only hope that the monster hasn't breached the hull.

You look back over the edge and Marine calls to you, holding a rope and harpoom in hand, “White, I'm going in, gonna stick this right in its shnozz!!! You leaps overboard into the charged waters.

“Marine, wait!” You call out as you lean over railing, seeing her enter the ivory sea.

Seralana's the next to go, discarding her glaive in favor of a harpoon, and diving down with a deep breath.

They're going on... What are you going to do?

>>
>>33665959

>>
>>33665959
It's a monster hunter creature. The Ivory Lagiacrus, apparently.

>>
>>33665959

>>
>>33665988
We'll keep it in mind.

You abandon the Harpoon to the Khakori you commandeered it from, “Fire when you see an eye!” You shout back as you sprint over to squeeze yourself into the firing operations of a smolder.

“I'll aim, you fire.” You instruct.

“What we try to hit?”

“The blue things, they're making the electricity!”

The Smolder roars out a command to the others in his tongue. “We all will fire on Bleuk!” The waters below surge, the beast retreating up, and breaching, its blue spine encrusted back crackling out a furious charge.
You can taste the Ozone on the air. The cannons fire, detonating and crushing in on those parts, forcing the thing to recoil, diving down, twisting into the water, shards of still sparking scales littering the waves, the electrical output flickering some in the ocean's waters. Like a light that needs changing.
Good, it's damaged.

The ship rocks out from beneath you as a crushing blow is dealt. You catch yourself before falling off on the other side of the rail, and look down to see that the beast's rammed the hull after the crippling attack.

It looms, surging and writhing beneath you, stray, errant sparks from its mutilated blue crystals shooting every which way.

As its backing out, you see a series of green lights, the Araraki that had descended must be fighting it off, but a hole of that size...

>[] Drop down and run across its body, give it an eyeful of icicle.
>[] Climb up and prepare the next volley of cannonfire.
>[] Wait for it to retreat and then freeze up the ship's hole You can't leave it like that.

>>

>>
>>33666516

>>
>>33666516
Yeah, just a bit is enough. We want the electricity for ourselves, after all.
>>33666286

>[] Wait for it to retreat and then freeze up the ship's hole You can't leave it like that.
Gotta have the boat to salvage this thing, after all.
>>
>>33666563
We're killing it. So that we can harvest its parts and use it for the big ark the Smolders are making.
>>
>>33666588
If its dead, it wont make electricity anymore anon.
>>
>>33666612
Uh, try reading the previous threads, anon. This was all stated inside the story. You can't even blame your memory for this considering the threads were run consecutively.
>>
>>33666516
Not crazy about changing the battle strat over unconfirmed speculation...
>>
>>33666760
To be fair, this is something that should have been discussed beforehand. Heavily.
>>
>>33666821
It's fine. Hell, everything STAYED out of this huge area of ocean because of this monster. They're not going to return the second its dead. It would probably be weeks. Just use your head.
>>
>>33666858
I dunno about weeks, Sharks aren't exactly low on the food chain. If they smell blood, they might decide to join in.

>Ivory Lag almost dead
>Kill Steal by 20 Sharpedos impaling the neck

But I'll defer to this being unconfirmed for now.
>>
the important thing is we don't break the zappy bits TOO much.
>>
>>
>>33666959
And all the sharkpedos ran away from this thing. It's not as if this thing hasn't been wounded before; it just dives deep into the ocean, far beyond the reach of any hunters. That's where the survivor stories come from. Because they managed to damage it enough to scare it off.
>>
The beast slowly, but surely removes its head, hastened primarily by the abuse it's getting from the Araraki defenders.

Positioning yourself against the rail, you push off and let yourself dive down some before regaining your balance and launching your 3PMG's harpoon just below the railing to rappel down to the damage. You freeze from the bottom, channeling a great deal of your power into ensuring that the hole's plugged up with frozen seawater. Who know how long it'll hold, but it'll keep the hunt from being a failure.

There are more eruptions of green and a putrifying brown staining the waters.

The beast flees, straining the harpoon lines and sweeps around, a great white wave surging forth, washing over the ship and forcing distance.

Lines attached to the wave strain and you see Seralana and Marine fall onto the deck, Kurojo catching the lizard as she slumps heavily in his arms.

With a leap and a release of your safery line, your check on her damage. She coughs up water and gets back up in short order, eyes a bit hazy from the experience.

“Salty...” She whispers as she's gagging.

The ship moves again, the cannonfire ends with wet fuses and powder, Smolder retreating below deck for replacement supplies.

The beast lunges out of the water with an open maw, like the white ocean itself breaking into a fleshy, biolumenscent maw.

Energy gathers within, sparking and crackling, getting brighter and brighter...

The Araraki and Smolder are below deck, the Imperial Impaler is out of range, the cannons are wet.

It unleashes the beam and the night turns to day.

Well, now that it's over; the fight hasn't been exciting thus far. I'm HOPING this isn't supposed to be the "half-way" point, Prof, because that would just be too sad. It's just too mechanical.

Also, who's speaking here?
>“Salty...” She whispers as she's gagging.
Seralana? Since Marine can breathe underwater.

Are you saying that the monster is OUT of the Imperial Impaler's range? Because that's what I'm getting.

the lizard
>>

Sera. The last referred to female character was "the lizard", so that is what the "she" is referring to. Pronouns stay with the same person until a new one is named.

So did Dran ruse us when he brought attention to the whole "patch hole in ship" and made us remember it?

I'm thinking we should have pushed the attack, instead of giving it a chance to charge the laser.

Especially since now we're all too dead to take advantage of it needing to recharge.

Wouldn't be the first time.

On the other hand, there wasn't much "pushing" that would make a difference, other than diving(shock damage, but probably not hit by Hyper Beam and gives us a good position later), or harpooning the eye.

>>
>>33667797
Waiting for Lockon to kick in would take a while though. Would be cool if it hit right before Hyper Beam, but that wouldn't actually increase anyone(important)'s chances of survival.

I wonder if Seralana's spooky heritage can enable her to Ghost through that Normal attack.

It'd be nice to have one of our friends survive the attack, you know, to drown when the ship sinks due to the enormous hole the Hyper Beam caused.
>>
>>33667717
I dunno, for once I think we did well, as opposed to standing in front of a Hydro Pump, or jumping headlong into horribly electrified water.
>>
>>33667948
I don't think armor has ghost properties. Is Seralana going to be the first Araraki to get fanservice?

...by the way, does Seralana have 2 personalities based on her heritages?
